Abstract
This essay discusses the presence of the theme of travel inPonto de cruz(1979), by Astrid Cabral. The close reading of the selected poems seeks to extract fundamental features of the book, which can be projected on the author's work. The reflection is divided into two parts: the nature of the journey is located at first; the products of the route are then explained. Guided by Michel Deguy’s (2010) poetry studies, I’m interested in evaluating which formulas of this theme are recovered and how they are reinvented in the context of Brazilian poetry. Finally, the paper highlights the way in which Astrid Cabral transforms the constellation of traditional literary images by inserting it into the historical sphere of the twentieth century.
