Abstract The geotechnical monitoring of tailings dams combined with a suitable application of geophysical electrical methods can improve their structure evaluation, allowing several correlations between direct analyses and the resistivity anomaly pattern. Considering this synergy, twenty-three electrical resistivity sections (ERT) were acquired along the beach, abutments, and central part of a dam, totalizing 10,776 m of dataset. After the interpretation of each ERT section, comparing the anomaly ranges with the water level meters measurements, three resistivity zones were defined: Zones of low resistivity (<64 ohm-m), correlated to regions of high humidity; zones of high resistivity (> 357 ohm-m), interpreted as dry zones, and regions with intermediate resistivity values, located between these limits. The groundwater surface generated from the interpretation of the electrical resistivity dataset and the groundwater surface acquired from the water level gauges were almost coincident. On the right abutment, the conductive anomalies showed remarkable continuity, suggesting a high moisture content in this region with strong gradients (200 mV) directed towards the zone of low resistivity values identified in the sections. The analysis showed a robust correlation of the ERT data with localized physical geotechnical measurements, valuable for monitoring dam integrity, overseeing the structure's response to climate and operational changes, and ultimately mitigating the risks of failure. The results of this study support the adoption of a seasonal 4D electrical resistivity survey as an effective tool to monitor and manage surface and high humidity zones, key indicators of dam integrity throughout the entire structure.

Abstract Basketball is a sport practiced around the world in this way, performances tests especially with low-cost and accessible are suggested to adjust the training. The 00aim of present study was to evaluate and correlate the speed and jump performance of lower limbs of basketball athletes from the Praia Grande, city of São Paulo, Brazil. Twelve male athletes (6.92 ± 2.57 years of pratice) from the Basketball team of Praia Grande City, aged 18.7 ± 0.6 years, height 1.85 ± 0.06, body mass 83.66 ± 10.16 kg were evaluated. The athletes were submitted to test sessions using the protocol for evaluating the maximum speed of 20 meters and the unilateral vertical jump. The speed on 20 meter test was 3.53 ± 0.20 seconds. Although an asymmetry of 17.81 ± 14.64% was found, no statistical difference (p = 0.817) was found between the dominant (36.50 ± 7.36 cm) and non-dominant (35.92 ± 5.63 cm) of vertical jump performance. Additionally, correlation between 20-meter test and values jump was found to dominant leg (p = 0.042) but not to non-dominant leg (p = 0.704). In conclusion, although asymmetry was found between members of the dominant and non-dominant side of the pitch, did not show any difference in the vertical jump.

Resumo O basquete é um esporte praticado em todo o mundo, desta forma, testes de desempenho principalmente com baixo custo e acessíveis são sugeridos para adequar o treinamento. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar e correlacionar a velocidade e o desempenho de salto de membros inferiores de atletas de basquetebol da cidade da Praia Grande, São Paulo, Brasil. Foram avaliados 12 atletas do sexo masculino (6,92 ± 2,57 anos de prática) da equipe de Basquetebol da Cidade de Praia Grande, com idade 18,7 ± 0,6 anos, estatura 1,85 ± 0,06, massa corporal 83,66 ± 10,16 kg. Os atletas foram submetidos a sessões de testes utilizando o protocolo de avaliação da velocidade máxima de 20 metros e do salto vertical unilateral. A velocidade no teste de 20 metros foi de 3,53 ± 0,20 segundos. Embora tenha sido encontrada uma assimetria de 17,81 ± 14,64%, não foi encontrada diferença estatística (p = 0,817) entre o desempenho do salto vertical dominante (36,50 ± 7,36 cm) e não dominante (35,92 ± 5,63 cm). Além disso, foi encontrada correlação entre o teste de 20 metros e os valores de salto para perna dominante (p = 0,042), mas não para perna não dominante (p = 0,704). Em conclusão, embora tenha sido encontrada assimetria entre membros do lado dominante e não dominante do campo, não houve diferença no salto vertical

ABSTRACT Objective: To determine, by biomechanical analysis, safe patellar cut limits in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction that minimize fracture risks. Methods: From three-dimensional reconstruction, triangular cuts were made in the patella, with a depth of 6.5 mm and variable width and length (10 to 20 mm and 8 to 12 mm, respectively, both with an interval of 1 mm). The combinations of cuts constituted 55 models for tests, with five variations in width and 11 variations in length, tested with the finite element method (FEM). Results: The mean of the localized principal maximum (traction force) values was 4.36 Pa (SD 0.87 ± 0.76) and the localized principal minimum (compression force) was −4.33 Pa (SD 1.05 ± 1.11). Comparing width and length to the tension force of the values of the main maximum, we found statistical significance from 11 mm for width and 13 mm for length. Conclusion: In ACL reconstruction, the removal of the patellar bone fragment is safe for fragments smaller than 11 mm in width and 13 mm in length, which corresponds to 24% of the width and 28% of the length of the patella used. Level of Evidence II, Comparative Prospective Study.

RESUMO Objetivo: Determinar, por meio de análise biomecânica, os limites de corte patelar seguros para a reconstrução do ligamento cruzado anterior (LCA) e que minimizem riscos de fratura. Métodos: A partir de reconstrução tridimensional, foram feitos cortes triangulares na patela, com profundidade de 6,5 mm e largura e comprimento variáveis (8 a 12 mm e 10 a 20 mm), respectivamente, com intervalo de 1 mm). As combinações dos cortes constituíram 55 modelos para ensaios, com 5 variações de largura e 11 variações de comprimento, ensaiados por meio do método dos elementos finitos (MEF). Resultados: A média dos valores da máxima principal localizada (força de tração) foi de 4,36 Pa (DP 0,87 ± 0,76), e a mínima principal localizada (força de compressão) foi de −4,33 Pa (DP 1,05 ± 1,11). Comparando largura e comprimento à força de tensões dos valores da máxima principal, houve significância estatística a partir de 11 mm para largura e 13 mm para comprimento. Conclusão: Na reconstrução do LCA, a retirada do fragmento ósseo patelar mostrou-se segura para fragmentos menores que 11 mm de largura e 13 mm de comprimento, o que corresponde a 24% da largura e 28% do comprimento da patela utilizada. Nível de Evidência II, Estudo Prospectivo Comparativo.

Abstract The directional solidification technique allows the study of growth of the solid phase, as-cast structure and, finally, its mechanical characteristics as a consequence of thermal parameters. On the other hand, in the last decade, a process called equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) has emerged as a widely-known technique in fabrication of ultrafine-grained metals and alloys. Applicability of the ECAP technique affords an excellent potential for changing, in a controlled and beneficial manner, the resulting properties of metals and alloys. For this paper, an experimental research has been conducted to study the effects of solidification parameter (cooling rate) on resulting microhardness in hypoeutectic Al-Si alloys, upon use of an ECAP procedure. The influence of cooling on the scale of the dendritic patterns is presented and discussed with recourse to equations. The resulting microhardness variation with position throughout the as-cast materials and cooling rate were characterized by experimental power laws. Results determined after the solidification experiments have revealed microhardness as a function of both cooling rate and position (P) of the as-cast materials to be dependent on alloy composition. In the ECAP process via route C with three passes, “as-solidified” microstructures have been found to be distorted and fragmented during the severe plastic deformation. This deformation imposed on the billets during the ECAP process facilitated obtaining a fine microstructure and high levels of microhardness were observed. However, even with the ECAP process, it was shown that microhardness is strongly dependent of the cooling rates.

Resumo O treinamento de força é parte integrante dos programas de treinamento para estética, e desempenho esportivo. Embora experimentos comparem as respostas de alguns métodos, faltam estudos que analisem o tempo de execução, a recuperação e as percepções de dor e esforço. O objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar e comparar as respostas metabólicas e fisiológicas do treinamento tradicional, drop set e restrição de fluxo sanguíneo em indivíduos treinados. A amostra foi composta por 16 homens treinados com idade entre 32 ± 10,5 e mínimo de 3 anos de prática contínua e regular de TF. Os dados foram coletados em 4 dias, sendo o primeiro atribuído ao teste de carga máxima e nos 3 dias seguintes analisamos aleatoriamente o drop set, restrição de fluxo sanguíneo e métodos tradicionais de treinamento. O lactato sanguíneo foi analisado após a sessão de treinamento. Circunferência do braço pré e pós-intervenção, frequência cardíaca e tempo total, escalas de percepção de dor e esforço, repetições e volumes totais. Os resultados não mostraram diferença significativa no número de repetições entre os métodos de restrição de fluxo sanguíneo e drop set, mas o volume total e o tempo foram significativamente maiores no drop set. O maior valor de lactato sanguíneo foi encontrado no drop set apesar dos outros métodos também apresentarem valores elevado. A restrição do fluxo sanguíneo e o drop set apresentaram diferença significativa em relação ao método tradicional na escala subjetiva de esforço pós-exercício, fato que se relaciona com o maior volume total, principalmente no drop set.

Abstract Strength training is an integral part of training programs for aesthetics and sports performance. Although experiments compare the responses of some methods, there is a lack of studies that analyze the time of execution, the recovery and perceptions of pain and exertion. The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare the metabolic and physiological responses of traditional, drop set and blood flow restriction training. The sample consisted of 16 trained men aged 32 ± 10,5 and minimum of 3 years of continuous and regular practice of ST. Data were collected in 4 days, being the first one assigned to maximum load testing and the following 3 days we analyzed randomly the drop set, blood flow restriction and traditional training methods. Blood lactate was analyzed after the training session. Pre and post intervention arm circumference, heart rate and total time, perceived pain and exertion rating scales, repetition and total volumes. Results showed no significant difference on repetitions number between blood flow restriction and drop set methods but total volume and time were significantly higher on drop set. The highest blood lactate value was found on drop set despite the other methods also show high values. Blood flow restriction and drop set showed significant difference regarding to traditional method on post exercise subjective exertion rating scale, a fact that relates with the highest total volume, mostly on drop set.

RESUMO: O artigo analisa o Tempo de Permanência na Escola (TPE) dos estudantes-atletas de futebol a partir da adaptação do modelo de cálculo proposto por Neri (2009). A variável tempo nos serviu para verificar o investimento do estudante-atleta na dupla carreira esportiva. Realizamos a pesquisa com 62 estudantes-atletas residentes no alojamento de um tradicional clube de futebol do Rio de Janeiro, cuja faixa etária está entre 14 e 17 anos. Para o levantamento de dados, foi utilizado um questionário estruturado e, para a análise, o modelo metodológico para o cálculo do TPE de estudantes-atletas. Observamos que estudos na área da educação e da educação física insinuam que o tempo de dedicação aos treinamentos esportivos concorrem com o tempo escolar e o prejudicam. Os resultados do nosso estudo sugerem que o problema da redução do TPE dos estudantes-atletas é provocado pelo descumprimento e pela flexibilização das normas escolares por parte da própria instituição escolar.

ABSTRACT: This article analyzes the Time Spent in School (TSS) of students-athletes of soccer, based on an adaptation of the model proposed by Neri (2009). The variable time was used to verify the investment of the student-athlete in this dual career. We conducted research with 62 student-athletes, aged 14 - 17, residing in a traditional Rio de Janeiro soccer club's accommodation. The data were obtained through a survey using a structured questionnaire, and analyzed by adapting the Neri (2009) methodological model to calculate the TSS. We observed that studies in the area of education and physical education suggest that the time dedicated to sports training competes with and damages the time dedicated to school. The results of our study suggest that the problem of student-athletes' reduction in TSS is caused by non-compliance and flexibility in school rules on the part of the school institution itself.

RESÚMEN: El artículo analiza el Tiempo de Estancia en la Escuela (TEE) de estudiantes-atletas de fútbol a partir de un modelo de análisis propuesto por Neri (2009). La variable tiempo nos sirvió para verificar la inversión del estudiante-atleta en la carrera deportiva dual. Realizamos la investigación con 62 estudiantes-atletas que residían en el alojamiento de un tradicional club de fútbol en Rio de Janeiro, cuyo grupo de edad tiene entre 14 y 17 años. La encuesta se realizó a través de un cuestionario estructurado y analizamos los datos adaptando el modelo metodológico de Neri (2009) para calcular el TEE de los estudiantes-atletas involucrados. Observamos que los estudios en el área de educación y educación física sugieren que el tiempo dedicado al entrenamiento deportivo compite y perjudica el tiempo escolar. Sin embargo los resultados de nuestro estudio sugieren que el problema de reducción del TEE de los estudiantes-atletas es causado por el incumplimiento y la flexibilidad de las reglas escolares por la própria escuela.

Abstract Introduction The importance of our study lies in the fact that we have demonstrated the occurrence ofmechanical dysfunction within polypoid tissues, which promotes the development of polyps in the nasal cavity. Objective To change the paradigm of nasal polyposis (NP). In this new conception, the chronic nasal inflammatory process that occurs in response to allergies, to pollution, to changes in the epithelial barrier, or to other factors is merely the trigger of the development of the disease in individuals with a genetic predisposition to an abnormal tissue remodeling process, which leads to a derangement of the mechanical properties of the nasal mucosa and, consequently, allows it to grow unchecked. Data Synthesis We propose a fundamentally new approach to intervening in the pathological process of NP, addressing biomechanical properties, fluid dynamics, and the concept of surface tension. Conclusion The incorporation of biomechanical knowledge into our understanding of NP provides a new perspective to help elucidate the physiology and the pathology of nasal polyps, and new avenues for the treatment and cure of NP.

Resumo: Introdução: A cirurgia endoscópica funcional endonasal é um procedimento cirúrgico frequente entre os otorrinolaringologistas. Em 2014, a Sociedade Europeia de Rinologia publicou o "Documento Europeu para Posicionamento sobre a Terminologia Anatômica Interna do Nariz e das Cavidades Paranasais" com o objetivo de unificar os termos na língua inglesa. Ainda não dispomos de uma terminologia unificada na língua portuguesa. Objetivo: Adaptação transcultural dos termos anatômicos do nariz e das cavidades paranasais para o português da "European Anatomical Terminology of the Internal Nose and Paranasal Sinuses". Método: Um grupo de rinologistas de todo o Brasil, com experiência em cirurgia endoscópica endonasal, foi convidado a participar da elaboração desse posicionamento sobre os termos anatômicos do nariz e das cavidades paranasais para o português conforme metodologia adaptada da previamente descrita por Rudmik e Smith. Resultados: Os resultados desse documento foram gerados a partir da concordância da maioria dos participantes conforme as sugestões mais populares entre os rinologistas. Uma adaptação transcultural da terminologia anatômica nasossinusal foi consolidada. Sugerimos que se busque uniformizar termos como "concha inferior", "septo nasal", "porção (óssea/cartilaginosa) do septo nasal", "meato (médio/ inferior) nasal", "via da drenagem do seio frontal", "recesso frontal" e "processo uncinado". Conclusão: Consolidamos uma versão adaptada em português da "European Anatomical Terminology of the Internal Nose and Paranasal Sinuses" que auxiliará a publicação de comunicados técnicos, publicações científicas e o ensino dos termos anatômicos internos do nariz e das cavidades paranasais no Brasil.

Abstract Introduction: Functional endonasal endoscopic surgery is a frequent surgical procedure among otorhinolaryngologists. In 2014, the European Society of Rhinology published the "European Position Paper on the Anatomical Terminology of the Internal Nose and Paranasal Sinuses", aiming to unify the terms in the English language. We do not yet have a unified terminology in the Portuguese language. Objective: Transcultural adaptation of the anatomical terms of the nose and paranasal cavities of the "European Anatomical Terminology of the Internal Nose and Paranasal Sinuses" to Portuguese. Methods: A group of rhinologists from diverse parts of Brazil, all experienced in endoscopic endonasal surgery, was invited to participate in the creation of this position paper on the anatomical terms of the nose and paranasal sinuses in the Portuguese language according to the methodology adapted from that previously described by Rudmik and Smith. Results: The results of this document were generated based on the agreement of the majority of the participants according to the most popular suggestions among the rhinologists. A cross-cultural adaptation of the sinonasal anatomical terminology was consolidated. We suggest the terms "inferior turbinate", "nasal septum", "(bone/cartilaginous) part of the nasal septum", "(middle/inferior) nasal meatus", "frontal sinus drainage pathway", "frontal recess" and "uncinate process" be standardized. Conclusion: We have consolidated a Portuguese version of the European Anatomical Terminology of the Internal Nose and Paranasal Sinuses, which will help in the publication of technical announcements, scientific publications and the teaching of the internal anatomical terms of the nose and paranasal sinuses in Brazil.

RESUMO A disfunção do sistema nervoso autônomo tem papel importante na fisiopatologia de diversas doenças. Uma possível maneira de melhorar o controle autonômico é o treinamento muscular inspiratório (TMI), sendo o objetivo deste estudo revisar sistematicamente a literatura disponível sobre os efeitos desta modalidade. Dois revisores buscaram ensaios clínicos controlados e randomizados nas bases de dados MEDLINE, PEDro, SciELO e LILACS, avaliando também sua qualidade metodológica (escala de PEDro). Foram encontrados 181 artigos e, após verificar os critérios de elegibilidade, foram incluídos quatro pesquisas que avaliaram o efeito do TMI sobre o controle autonômico de participantes com fatores de risco para doenças cardiovasculares, por meio da variabilidade da frequência cardíaca (VFC) e dos níveis plasmáticos de noradrenalina. O TMI melhorou o controle autonômico em três estudos, reduzindo a atividade nervosa simpática (níveis plasmáticos de noradrenalina; LF u.n. - VFC) e aumentando a atividade nervosa vagal (HF u.n. - VFC). Conclui-se que o TMI parece ser uma alternativa terapêutica para melhorar o controle autonômico.

ABSTRACT The autonomic nervous system dysfunction has an important role on the physiopathology of some diseases. A possible option to improve the autonomic control is the inspiratory muscle training (IMT). The aim of this study was to systematically review the available literature about the effects of this training modality on autonomic control. A search was performed for controlled and randomized clinical trials on database MEDLINE, PEDro, SciELO and LILACS by two independent reviewers, who also evaluated the methodologic quality (PEDro scale). 181 articles were found and, after elegibility criteria analysis, four studies were included. The included studies showed good methodological quality and assessed the effect of IMT on the autonomic control of participants with risk factors for cardiovascular disease. The autonomic control was evaluated by heart rate variability (HRV) analysis and by noradrenaline plasma levels. The IMT improved autonomic control in 3 studies, reducing the sympathetic nervous system (noradrenaline plasma levels; LF nu - HRV) and increasing the vagal nervous system (HF un - HRV). It is concluded that IMT may be a therapeutic alternative to improve the autonomic control.

RESUMEN La disfunción del sistema nervioso autonómico tiene el papel importante en la fisiopatología de diversas enfermedades. Una posible manera de mejorar el control autonómico es el entrenamiento muscular inspiratorio (TMI), siendo el objetivo del presente estudio revisar sistemáticamente la literatura disponible sobre los efectos de esta modalidad de entrenamiento sobre la función autonómica. Ha sido realizada la búsqueda por ensayos clínicos controlados y aleatorizados en las bases de datos MEDLINE, PEDro, SciELO y LILACS por dos revisores independientes, que también han evaluado la cualidad metodológica (escala de PEDro). Han sido encontrados 181 artículos y, después de certificar los criterios de elegibilidad, han sido incluidos cuatro estudios. Los estudios que han sido incluidos han presentado buena cualidad metodológica y han evaluado el efecto del TMI sobre el control autonómico de los participantes con factores de riesgo para las enfermedades cardiovasculares. El control autonómico ha sido evaluado por el análisis de la variabilidad de la frecuencia cardíaca (VFC) y por medio de los niveles plasmáticos de noradrenalina. El TMI ha mejorado el control autonómico en tres estudios, reduciendo la actividad nerviosa simpática (los niveles plasmáticos de noradrenalina; LF u.n. - VFC) e incrementando la actividad nerviosa vagal (HF u.n. - VFC). Se concluye que el TMI parece ser alternativa terapéutica para mejorar el control autonómico.

Resumo Objetivo: Avaliar a acurácia da tomografia computadorizada multidetectores com protocolo gástrico no estadiamento do câncer de estômago. Materiais e Métodos: Entre setembro de 2015 e dezembro de 2016, foram incluídos 14 pacientes com diagnóstico de adenocarcinoma gástrico que realizaram exame de tomografia computadorizada de 16 canais para estadiamento. As imagens foram analisadas por um mesmo radiologista, com experiência em imagem oncológica abdominal. Foram calculadas sensibilidade, especificidade e acurácia do método, comparando com o resultado anatomopatológico. Todos os pacientes foram submetidos a gastrectomia parcial ou total. Resultados: A idade média foi 61,5 anos, sendo 53,8% do sexo masculino. Em 35,7% dos casos as lesões gástricas foram classificadas como T1/T2, 28,5% como T3 e 35,7% como T4. Onze pacientes exibiam linfonodos suspeitos (N positivo), representando 68,7%. A acurácia do exame para estadiamento T1/T2, T3, T4 e linfonodal foi 85%, 78%, 90% e 78%, respectivamente. Os valores de sensibilidade e especificidade foram 71% e 100% para T1/T2, 66% e 81% para T3, 100% e 90% para T4 e 88% e 60% para linfonodos. Conclusão: A tomografia computadorizada multidetectores com protocolo gástrico associado ao estudo de gastroscopia virtual apresenta boa acurácia no estadiamento tumoral e linfonodal do adenocarcinoma gástrico.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the accuracy of multidetector computed tomography with a stomach protocol in staging of gastric cancer. Materials and Methods: We evaluated 14 patients who underwent computed tomography in a 16-channel scanner for preoperative staging of gastric adenocarcinoma between September 2015 and December 2016. All images were analyzed by the same radiologist, who had extensive experience in abdominal cancer imaging. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of the method were calculated by comparing it with the pathology result. All patients underwent partial or total gastrectomy. Results: The mean age was 61.5 years, and 53.8% of the patients were male. The gastric lesions were classified as T1/T2 in 35.7% of the cases, as T3 in 28.5%, and as T4 in 35.7%. Eleven patients (68.7%) had suspicious (N positive) lymph nodes. The accuracy of the T1/T2, T3, T4, and lymph node staging tests was 85%, 78%, 90%, and 78%, respectively. The respective sensitivity and specificity values were 71% and 100% for T1/T2, 66% and 81% for T3, 100% and 90% for T4, and 88% and 60% for lymph nodes. Conclusion: Multidetector computed tomography with a stomach protocol, used in conjunction with virtual gastroscopy, shows good accuracy in the tumor and lymph node staging of gastric adenocarcinoma.

ABSTRACT: Traditional method of soil survey is expensive, slow, and must be carried out by experienced researchers. Thus, advances in soil observation technologies and the need to obtain information quickly by modern techniques have intensified the use of proximal sensing. This study characterized surface reflectance spectra (A horizon) and related them to traditional soil classification, based on morphological, physical, and chemical properties of representative pedogenetic profiles, developed in two toposequences of the Distrito Federal, Brazil. In the toposequences, 15 soil profiles were selected for a complete morphological description and sampling for laboratory analyses. Soil-landscape relationships were established, and profiles were classified to the fourth level of the Brazilian Soil Classification System (SiBCS). Classes of similar soils were grouped based on their surface spectra, resulting in spectral curves of 10 representative soils in the studied area. The Morphological Interpretation of Reflectance Spectrum (MIRS) and second derivative of the Kubelka-Munk (KM) function were applied to the soil spectra. The clustered soils were similar, mainly in terms of color, textural class, and organic matter content. Groups based on soil physical and chemical properties and on surface and subsurface colors were similar to those determined by surface reflectance. The identification of soil-landscape relationships was fundamental to understand the genesis and distribution of the soils, which had similar chemical and physical properties to their parent materials. The analysis of clusters based on soil surface reflectance proved efficient in determining groups of soil classes with similar properties. Surface reflectance data were related to the soil surface and subsurface properties determined by traditional soil sample analyses, since the two approaches formed similar groups. The simultaneous interaction of soil properties was assessed by MIRS analysis, while the second derivative of the KM function adequately quantified the mineralogy of the spectra.

RESUMO O presente artigo tem como objetivo analisar as tensões estabelecidas entre a linguagem e o poder em duas searas aparentemente distintas: a genômica e o livro. Partindo da relação entre corpo, texto e poder, tomamos a história do livro e da genômica para estabelecer uma reflexão sobre a vontade de verdade e de ordem no seio da linguagem, a partir das imposições da melhor leitura do texto escrito e do código genético. Mostramos também que, tanto a literatura quanto a pós-genômica apresentam elementos que escapam à determinação de ordem, imposta pelas vontades de verdade e estabelecidas por relações de forças.

ABSTRACT The present paper aims to analyze the tensions established between the language and the power in distincts fields: the genomic and the book. Leaving of the relation between body, text and power, we take the history of the book and the genomic to establish a reflection on the will of truth and the order, from the impositions of the best reading of the written text and the genetic code. We also show that, as much literature how much after-genomic they present elements that escape to the determination of order, imposed for the wills of truth and established by relations of forces.

RESUMO Relatamos uma análise da circulação dos seios venoso cranianos, enfatizando características morfológicas e angiográficas. Métodos Dados de 100 angiografias cerebrais foram retrospectivamente analisados (p = 0,05). Resultados Média de idade 56,3 anos, 62% feminino e 38% masculino. Medições e dominância expostos em tabelas. Sem associação entre idade ou sexo e dominância. Divisão parassagittal direita do Seio Sagital Superior (SSS) foi associada com dominância direita do Seio Transverso (ST), Seio Sigmóide (SS) e Veia Jugular Interna (VJI), e divisão parassagittal esquerda do SSS foi associada com dominância esquerda do ST, SS e VJI. Conclusão Um padrão de dominância dos seios venosos do crânio foi encontrado. Idade e sexo não influenciaram esse padrão. Achados angiográficos, como divisão do SSS, foram associados com o padrão de dominância venoso cerebral. Esperamos que este artigo acrescente informações e auxilie na análise venosa pré-operatória para neurocirurgiões e neuroradiologistas.

ABSTRACT We report an analysis of the cranial venous sinuses circulation, emphasizing morphological and angiographic characteristics. Methods Data of 100 cerebral angiographies were retrospectively analyzed (p = 0.05). Results Mean age was 56.3 years, 62% female and 38% male. Measurements and dominance are shown in the Tables. There was no association between age or gender and dominance. Right parasagittal division of the superior sagittal sinus was associated with right dominance of the transverse sinus, sigmoid sinus and internal jugular vein; and left parasagittal division of the superior sagittal sinus was associated with left dominance of the transverse sinus, sigmoid sinus and internal jugular vein. Conclusion A dominance pattern of cranial venous sinuses was found. Age and gender did not influence this pattern. Angiographic findings, such as division of the superior sagittal sinus, were associated with a pattern of cranial venous dominance. We hope this article can add information and assist in preoperative venous analysis for neurosurgeons and neuroradiologists.

O presente estudo teve como objetivo comparar um sistema automático de baixo custo a outras duas técnicas de manejo (sistema Irrigás e tanque classe A) na cultura da alface (Lactuca sativa L.) com relação à operacionalidade dos sistemas, custo dos equipamentos, lâminas aplicadas e dados de produção da cultura. O cultivo foi desenvolvido num delineamento experimental de blocos ao acaso, com quatro tratamentos casualizados em seis blocos. Os tratamentos foram caracterizados pelo sistema Irrigás, tanque Classe A (TCA) e pelo uso de um acionador automático de baixo custo para irrigação (AAI), em duas tensões de água no solo (9,0kPa e 12,0kPa). Foram avaliados dados de lâmina aplicada, eficiência no uso da água e as variáveis de produção, área foliar, massa fresca e seca da parte aérea, diâmetro e altura da cabeça. Não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos para nenhuma das variáveis de produção avaliadas(P>0,05) e as lâminas totais referentes aos diferentes métodos de manejo foram próximas à evapotranspiração de referência (ETo) acumulada no período. A eficiência no uso da água nos tratamentos TCA, AAI/9kPa, Irrigás, AAI/12kPa foi, respectivamente, 241,4; 217,9; 205,5 e 267,1kg ha-1 mm-1, enquanto as produtividades foram respectivamente, 32,80; 28,86; 28,80 e 35,45Mg ha-1. Os resultados obtidos são próximos de valores reportados na literatura, permitindo concluir que as metodologias de manejo avaliadas foram eficientes para o cultivo de alface, e que, dessa forma, a escolha do método dependerá da disponibilidade de mão-de-obra e também do nível de treinamento do agricultor.

The objective of the present research was to compare an low cost controller with two other techniques of irrigation management, Irrigas system and Class A pan, in the cultive of lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.),concerning operability of systems, equipment costs, applied depths and crop yield data. The cultivation was developed in a randomized complete blocks design with four treatments randomized in six replicates. The treatments were characterized by the system Irrigás, Class A pan (TCA) and the use of automatic irrigation of low cost device (AAI) in two different soil water tensions (9.0kPa and 12.0kPa). Data of irrigation depth, water use efficiency and production variables leaf area, fresh and dry weight of shoots, diameter and height of the head were evaluated. There wasn't significant difference between treatments for any of the production variables evaluated (P>0.05) and total irrigation depths were related to different management practices and close to the evapotranspiration estimated reference (ETo) accumulated in the period. The water use efficiency in treatments TCA, AAI/9kPa, Irrigás, AAI/12kPa were, respectively, 241.4, 217.9, 205.5 and 267.1kg ha-1 mm-1, while the productivities were, respectively, 32.80, 28.86, 28.80 and 35.45Mg ha-1. The results obtained are close to values reported in the literature, allowing to conclude that the evaluated methodologies were efficient for growing lettuce and thus the method chosen would depend on the availability of skilled manpower and also of the level of farmer training.

Introdução: Embora a maioria das infecções de HIV-1 no Brasil seja devido ao subtipo B, o Sul do Brasil apresenta uma alta prevalência do subtipo C e formas recombinantes, como CRF31_BC. Este estudo avaliou o impacto da diversidade viral na evolução clínica em uma coorte de pacientes HIV-positivos recém diagnosticados. Métodos: De julho/2004 a dezembro/2005, 135 pacientes anti-HIV reagentes foram recrutados. A região pol parcial foi subtipada por filogenia. Um modelo de equação de estimativa generalizada (GEE) foi utilizado para examinar a relação entre subtipo viral, contagem de células CD4 e níveis de carga viral pré-terapia antirretroviral. Hazard ratio (regressão de Cox) foi utilizada para avaliar os fatores associados à supressão viral (carga viral < 50 cópias/mL em seis meses). Resultados: Os principais subtipos de HIV-1 incluíram B (29,4%), C (28,2%) e CRF31_BC (23,5%). Os subtipos B e C apresentaram uma tendência semelhante no declínio de células CD4. Quando comparados os subtipos não B (C e CRF31_BC) e B, não houve diferença significativa na proporção de pacientes com supressão viral aos seis meses (24 semanas). CD4 mais alto e carga viral mais baixa demonstraram associação independente com supressão viral. Conclusão: Não houve diferença significativa entre os subtipos; entretanto, viremia mais baixa e CD4 mais alto pré-terapia mostraram associação com melhor resposta.

Background: Although most HIV-1 infections in Brazil are due to subtype B, Southern Brazil has a high prevalence of subtype C and recombinant forms, such as CRF31_BC. This study assessed the impact of viral diversity on clinical progression in a cohort of newly diagnosed HIV-positive patients. Methods: From July/2004 to December/2005, 135 HIV-infected patients were recruited. The partial pol region was subtyped by phylogeny. A generalized estimating equation (GEE) model was used to examine the relationship between viral subtype, CD4+ T cell count and viral load levels before antiretroviral therapy. Hazard ratio (Cox regression) was used to evaluate factors associated with viral suppression (viral load < 50 copies/mL at six months). Results: Main HIV-1 subtypes included B (29.4%), C (28.2%), and CRF31_BC (23.5%). Subtypes B and C showed a similar trend in CD4+ T cell decline. Comparison of non-B (C and CRF31_BC) and B subtypes revealed no significant difference in the proportion of patients with viral suppression at six months (week 24). Higher CD4+ T cell count and lower viral load were independently associated with viral suppression. Conclusion: No significant differences were found between subtypes; however, lower viral load and higher CD4+ T cell count before therapy were associated with better response.
