ABSTRACT Second-generation glyphosate-tolerant maize (Roundup Ready 2, RR2) is characterised by the expression of the cp4epsps gene. Despite some studies suggesting possible undesirable effects from the application of glyphosate in RR2 maize, other reports have demonstrated glyphosate selectivity for RR2 plants, with minor damage symptoms, if any, and with no negative effects on the chlorophyll indices. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of different types of glyphosate management, formulations and rates of application on chlorophyll indices and the agronomic performance of an RR2 maize genotype expressing the cp4epsps gene. Five experiments were conducted in a full factorial design (2 x 5 x 5) to evaluate two types of management, two formulations and five rates of glyphosate. Damage symptoms, chlorophyll indices and variables related to agronomic performance (plant height, stem diameter, yield and 100-grain weight) were evaluated. Similar crop responses were found for each of the glyphosate formulations (potassium salt and isopropylamine salt) and types of management (single application and sequential application) under test, indicating that the use of glyphosate-based commercial products affords flexibility in terms of formulation and frequency of application. Glyphosate formulated as potassium salt or isopropylamine salt and applied to RR2 maize either in a single application (full rate) or in two sequential applications (each at half rate) has a similar effect and may therefore be used without distinction. However, it is important to consider the rate of application since high rates of glyphosate (especially greater than 1,440 g ae ha-1) may affect the development and production of RR2 maize.

Abstract The offshore industry has been challenged with the necessity to build structures with foundations on carbonate soils, found in extensive areas of the tropical and intertropical zones of the planet. As a better understanding of the behavior of these soils becomes more and more indispensable, this paper presents equations to predict the dynamic behavior of carbonate sands, in which two expressions (G/Gmax versus γ and D versus γ) were obtained via multiple linear regression using data from resonant column tests carried out on carbonate sands from Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico (Cataño & Pando, 2010). The proposed equations agreed well with experimental data. The error for the expressions G/Gmax versus γ was less than 10%, while the expressions D versus γ trended to underestimate the values for the loose condition (Dr = 24%), presenting an effective confining stress of 50kPa. Furthermore, the proposed equations were compared with predictions exhibited by Javdanian & Jafarian (2018) of G/Gmax versus γ and D versus γ for carbonate sands, also yielding fairly concordant results.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the performance of the Berlin Questionnaire, the STOP-Bang Questionnaire, and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale in screening for the disease in adults of different age groups by comparing them with polysomnography. Methods Cross-sectional study with prospective patient allocation, in which individuals underwent a medical interview, completion of the three screening instruments, and polysomnography. Individuals were categorized into three age groups: 18-39, 40-59, and ≥60 years. The results of the screening instruments were compared to the diagnostic criteria of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders—third edition. Performance was assessed using 2 × 2 contingency tables, estimating sensitivity, specificity, predictive value, likelihood ratio, and accuracy. Receiver Operating Characteristic curves were also constructed and the area under the curve was estimated for each instrument by age group. Results We obtained a sample with 321 individuals suitable for analysis. The mean age was 50 years, with a predominance of females (56%). The prevalence of the disease in the overall sample was 79%, more prevalent in males in any age group and more frequent in the middle age group. The analyzes revealed that STOP-Bang performed better, both for the overall sample and for all age groups, followed by Berlin Questionnaire and Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Conclusion In an outpatient setting with individuals with characteristics similar to those in this study, it seems sensible to choose the STOP-Bang as a screening tool for the disease, regardless of age group. Abstract Few studies on the distribution of oral diseases in older people are available in the literature. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and demographic characteristics of oral and maxillofacial lesions in geriatric patients (age ≥ 60 years). A retrospective descriptive cross-sectional study was performed. Biopsy records were obtained from archives of three Brazilian oral pathology centers over a 20-year period. Data on sex, age, anatomical site, skin color, and histopathological diagnosis were collected and analyzed. Pearson’s chi-square test was used to evaluate differences in the frequency of the different oral and maxillofacial lesion groups. A total of 7,476 biopsy records of older patients were analyzed. Most cases were diagnosed in patients aged 60 to 69 years (n = 4,487; 60.0%). Females were more affected (n = 4,403; 58.9%) with a female-to-male ratio of 1:0.7 (p < 0.001). The tongue (n = 1,196; 16.4%), lower lip (n = 1,005; 13.8%), and buccal mucosa (n = 997; 13.7%) were the most common anatomical sites. Reactive and inflammatory lesions (n = 3,840; 51.3%) were the most prevalent non-neoplastic pathologies (p < 0.001), followed by cysts (n = 475; 6.4%). Malignant neoplasms were more frequent (n = 1,353; 18.1%) than benign neoplasms (n = 512; 6.8%). Fibrous/fibroepithelial hyperplasia (n = 2,042; 53.2%) (p < 0.001) and squamous cell carcinoma (n = 1,191; 88.03%) (p < 0.001) were the most common oral lesions in older adults. Biopsy data allow the accurate characterization of the prevalence of oral and maxillofacial lesions, supporting the development of public health policies that can enable the prevention, early diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of these lesions. Also, they bring valuable information that helps dentists and geriatricians diagnose these diseases.

Abstract The screening of organisms capable of decoloring a textile effluent was performed using 4 fungi (F24= Aspergillus spp.., F48= Aspergillus spp.., F98= Aspergillus fumigatus, FTL01=Trametes lactinea) and 2 bacteria (T9 = Bacillus subtilis, T19 = Alcaligenes faecalis). These organisms were submitted to effluent decoloration assays in which the T. lactinea fungus demonstrated the greatest decoloration capacity (51.35%); thus, it was selected as a model organism for this study. The effect of pH, temperature and carbon sources on the effluent decoloration rate by T. lactinea was studied. The effluent decoloration by T. lactinea reached levels higher than 89.77%. Finally, acute toxicity assays on Artemia salina revealed that T. lactinea treatment reduced the toxicity of raw effluent.

Resumo A triagem dos organismos com capacidade de descoloração de um efluente têxtil foi executada usando 4 fungos (F24 = Aspergillus spp.., F48 = Aspergillus spp.., F98 = Aspergillus fumigatus, FTL01 = Trametes lactinea) e 2 bactérias (T9 = Bacillus subtilis, T19 = Alcaligenes faecalis). Esses organismos foram submetidos ao teste de descoloração do efluente bruto, no qual o fungo Trametes lactinea foi o organismo que demonstrou maior capacidade de descoloração (51,35%) e, desse modo, foi selecionado como organismo modelo para este estudo. T. lactinea foi submetido ao teste de descoloração na presença de diferentes variáveis (valores de pH, temperaturas e fontes de carbono) e a descoloração por T. lactinea chegou a níveis superiores a 89,77% de descoloração. Por fim, os testes de toxicidade aguda em Artemia salina indicaram que houve redução da toxicidade do efluente bruto após o tratamento com T. lactinea.

ABSTRACT: The emergence and development of resin-based materials, such as resin composites and adhesive systems, have shifted the restorative treatment of anterior teeth with caries lesions and/or fractures. Thus, based on the disadvantages of indirect restorations, direct esthetic restorations are restorative options even for anterior teeth with exten sive loss of hard tissues. This study aimed to describe and discuss the direct resin composite restoration performed to solve the esthetic and functional impairments of the upper anterior teeth with diastemas. The upper left central incisor received total crown preparation for indirect restoration. Clinical results after 10 years were recorded. Considering the clinical characteris tics of dental restorations, it is possible to conclude that direct resin composite restorations reestablished the esthetic and functional properties satisfactorily, even in a tooth with extensive coronal destruction. The success of the restorative treatm ent was dependent on factors related to the materials´ properties, oral habits of the patient, and mostly the clinical skills of th e dental clinician.

RESUMEN: La aparición y el desarrollo de materiales con base de resina, como las resinas compuestas y los sistemas adhesivos, han cambiado el tratamiento restaurador de los dientes anteriores con lesiones de caries y/o fracturas. Por lo tanto, en base a las desventajas de las restauraciones indirectas, las restauraciones estéticas directas son opciones de restauración, incluso para los dientes anteriores con una gran pérdida de tejidos duros. Este estudio tuvo como objetivo describir y discutir la restauración directa con resina compuesta, realizada para solucionar las deficiencias estéticas y funcionales de los dientes anteriores superiores con diastemas. El incisivo central superior izquierdo recibió preparación de corona total para restauración indirecta. Se registraron los resultados clínicos después de 10 años. Considerando las características clínicas de las restauraciones dentales, es posible concluir que las restauraciones directas en resina compuesta restablecieron las propiedades estéticas y funcionales satisfactoriamente, incluso en un diente con destrucción coronal extensa. El éxito del tratamiento restaurador dependió de factores relacionados con las propiedades de los materiales, los hábitos bucales del paciente y, sobre todo, las habilidades clínicas del odontólogo.

Resumen Nasutitermes corniger es una termita arbórea que causa daños económicos en las zonas urbanas, y su control es mediante insecticidas químicos. Una alternativa para el control de insectos es el uso de hongos entomopatógenos y extractos de plantas, o el efecto sinérgico de la asociación de estos. Se examinó la toxicidad de los extractos acuosos e hidroetanólicos de Agave sisalana sobre los aspectos biológicos de los hongos Cordyceps farinosa, C. fumosorosea y C. javanica y la acción de los extractos y su efecto sinérgico sobre N. corniger. Se evaluó el efecto de los extractos sobre hongos por germinación, esporulación y crecimiento micelial de los hongos en medio Sabouraud mediante el estudio de aspectos biológicos bajo condiciones de laboratorio y se examinó el control de N. corniger, por ingestión de extractos y de la asociación extracto y hongo sobre papel de filtro, siendo el porcentaje de mortalidad de soldados y obreras de la termita diaria. En general, los extractos resultaron inofensivos para los hongos a concentraciones de 10, 25, 50, 100 y 200 mg.mL-1. Los extractos demostraron acciones termiticidas a las concentraciones ensayadas, provocando la mortalidad de alrededor del 100% de los trabajadores después del tercer y sexto día (LC50: 0.778 a 0.803 mg.mL-1) y del 100% de los soldados entre el cuarto y séptimo días (LC50: 0.146 a 0.956 mg.mL-1). La asociación de los extractos con C. farinosa ESALQ1355 fue más eficiente para inducir la mortalidad en N. corniger. Estos resultados demostraron la eficiencia in vitro de los extractos de sisal en el control de las termitas de N. corniger, solas o en combinación con hongos, lo que sugiere su potencial utilidad conjunta en el control biológico de plagas de insectos.

Abstract Nasutitermes corniger is an arboreal termite that causes economic damage in urban areas, and its control is for chemical insecticides. An alternative for insect control is the use of entomopathogenic fungi and plant extracts, or the synergistic effect of the association of these. The toxicity of aqueous and hydroethanolic extracts of Agave sisalana on the biological aspects of the fungal Cordyceps farinosa, C. fumosorosea and C. javanica and the action of the extracts and their synergistic effect on N. corniger was examined. The effect of the extracts on fungi was evaluated by germination, sporulation and mycelial growth of fungi in Sabouraud medium through the study of biological aspects under laboratory conditions; and control of N. corniger were examined, by ingestion of extracts and of the association extract plus fungus on filter paper, being the percentage of mortality of soldiers and workers of the termite daily. In general, the extracts were inoffensive to the fungi at concentrations 10, 25, 50, 100 and 200 mg.mL-1. The extracts demonstrated termiticidal actions at concentrations tested, causing the mortalities about 100% of the workers after the third and sixth days (LC50: 0.778 to 0.803 mg.mL-1) and 100% of the soldiers between the fourth and seventh days (LC50:0.146 to 0.956 mg.mL-1). The association of the extracts with C. farinosa ESALQ1355 was more efficient in inducing the mortality in N. corniger. These results demonstrated the efficiency in vitro of the sisal extracts in controlling N. corniger termites, alone or in combination with fungi, suggesting their potential joint usefulness in the biological control of insect pests.

ABSTRACT: Clinical and radiographical diagnosis is crucial to treat a tooth with transverse root fracture (TRF) due to dental trauma (DT). This paper aimed to report a clinical case of TRF at the cervical third of tooth 21 injured by recurrent DT with 7 years of follow-up. A 7-years old female patient was referred to dental care after the first episode of DT in 2014. Base d on the radiographical examination, splinting of teeth 11 and 21 was performed using resin composite. After 11 months, the splint was removed and the patient was discharged. In 2015, the patient suffered a second DT of the same tooth. The clinical approach was splinting the traumatized tooth using orthodontic wire and resin composite. In 2018, a third episode of DT occurred. Then, the dental staff chose to maintain the splint and evaluate the case in a long-term. In 2021, based on bone tissue condition, dental fragment stability and radiographical follow-up, the splint was removed. The patient remains under regular follow up evaluations. It can be concluded that a conservative approach in cases of TRF, when possible, can preserve biological tissues.

RESUMEN: El diagnóstico clínico y radiográfico es fundamental para tratar un diente con fractura radicular transversa (FRT) por traumatismo dentario (DT). Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo reportar un caso clínico de FRT en el tercio cervical del diente 21 lesionado por DT recurrente con 7 años de seguimiento. Una paciente de 7 años de edad fue remitida a atención odontológica luego del primer episodio de DT en 2014. Con base en el examen radiográfico, se realizó la ferulización de los dientes 11 y 21 con resina compuesta. A los 11 meses se retiró la férula y se dio de alta al paciente. En 2015, el paciente sufrió un segundo DT del mismo diente. El abordaje clínico fue la ferulización del diente traumatizado utilizando alambre de ortodoncia y composite de resina. En 2018 ocurrió un tercer episodio de DT. Luego, el personal dental optó por mantener la férula y evaluar el caso a largo plazo. En 2021, en base al estado del tejido óseo, estabilidad de los fragmentos dentarios y seguimiento radiográfico, se procedió a la retirada de la férula. El paciente permanece bajo evaluaciones regulares de seguimiento. Se puede concluir que un abordaje conservador en casos de TRF, cuando sea posible, puede preservar los tejidos biológicos.

ABSTRACT Alternative substrates were evaluated for mycorrhizal inoculants production considering the beneficial effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) for plants and environment. The first step of the experiment aimed at evaluating the potential of substrates produced from sugarcane bagasse (SB), coconut fibre (CF) and urban waste compost (UWC) to produce AMF inoculants, by using Brachiaria decumbens as multiplier plant. The experiment has followed a randomized block design, at 7x3 factorial arrangement (seven substrates: SB, CF, SB+CF 1:1, SB+UWC 3:1, CF+UWC 3:1, SB+CF+UWC 3:3:2, Soil+Sand 3:1, vs. three substrate preparations: inoculated/sterilized, inoculated/non-sterilized, non-inoculated/sterilized). Inoculums produced in the first experimental stage were tested at the second stage, based on the inoculated/sterilized preparation. Seed germination, dry shoot biomass, mycorrhizal root rate and total spore production were assessed in both tests. There was significant decrease in seed emergence in organic substrates in relation to Soil+Sand, although the plants growth in organic substrates was greater. Artificial inoculation was not superior to spontaneous substrate mycorrhization or affected inoculum production. Mycorrhizal colonization of roots was equivalent in most organic substrates and in Soil+Sand. However, spore production stood out in organic substrate mixes, mainly when CF and UWC were used. This finding was confirmed at the second experimental stage.

ABSTRACT This paper describes the modeling, implementation, and evaluation of a control system based on an embedded fuzzy controller for application in irrigation systems. The motivation for the development of this system comes from the need to offer farmers resources that provide a reduction in water and electricity consumption in irrigation, which contributes to reducing production costs and preserving natural resources. The proposed control system aims to keep the water flow constant, as close as possible to the desired value and independent of load variations. A single-board computer, with the fuzzy controller software, a frequency inverter to control the speed of the irrigation motor pump system, and a flow sensor to measure the water flow, was used to implement the system. The proposed control system was evaluated in laboratory and field experiments to simulate real operating conditions. The results showed that the system presents satisfactory performance, representing a viable alternative for application in general irrigation systems.

Resumo A leishmaniose visceral canina é uma zoonose endêmica no Brasil. Os cães são os principais hospedeiros em ambientes urbanos. O tratamento ganhou popularidade desde que o governo brasileiro autorizou a miltefosina para tratamento canino. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o impacto clínico e parasitológico do tratamento a curto prazo com miltefosina e alopurinol, isoladamente e/ou em combinação. Foi avaliada a capacidade da farmacoterapia em reduzir os sinais clínicos da doença e também os níveis de anticorpos, usando-se o teste de anticorpos de fluorescência indireta (RIFI) e a carga parasitária na pele, via qPCR, após 28 dias de tratamento. Os protocolos terapêuticos promoveram declínio significativo dos sinais clínicos e da carga parasitária na pele dos cães (p < 0,01). Foi observada uma correlação moderada entre a carga parasitária da pele e o escore clínico em todos os três grupos de tratamento (r > 0,5). Já os níveis de anticorpos não diminuíram nesse curto período. Concluiu-se que o tratamento com alopurinol, em curto prazo, reduziu a quantidade de parasitos na pele dos cães com leishmaniose visceral. No entanto, sua eficiência é potencializada quando associada a miltefosina.

Abstract Canine visceral leishmaniasis is an endemic zoonosis in Brazil. Dogs are the main hosts in urban environments. The treatment has gained popularity since the Brazilian government authorized miltefosine for canine treatment. The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical and parasitological impact of short-term treatment with miltefosine and allopurinol, alone and in combination. We evaluated the ability of pharmacotherapy to reduce clinical signs of disease, antibody levels using the indirect fluorescence antibody test (IFAT) and skin parasite load via qPCR after 28 days of treatment. The therapeutic protocols promoted a significant decline in clinical signs and in the skin parasite load in dogs (p < 0.01). We observed a moderate correlation between the skin parasite load and the clinical score in all three treatment groups (r > 0.5) Antibody levels did not decrease in this short period. It was concluded that the treatment with allopurinol reduced the number of parasites in the skin of dogs with visceral leishmaniasis in the short term. However, its efficiency is potentiated when associated with miltefosine.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Flow cytometry has become an increasingly important tool in the clinical laboratory for the diagnosis and monitoring of many hematopoietic neoplasms. This method is ideal for immunophenotypic identification of cellular subpopulations in complex samples, such as bone marrow and peripheral blood. In general, 4-color panels appear to be adequate, depending on the assay. In acute leukemias (ALs), it is necessary identify and characterize the population of abnormal cells in order to recognize the compromised lineage and classify leukemia according to the WHO criteria. Although the use of eightto ten-color immunophenotyping panels is wellestablished, many laboratories do not have access to this technology. Objective and Method: In 2015, the Brazilian Group of Flow Cytometry (Grupo Brasileiro de Citometria de Fluxo, GBCFLUX) proposed antibody panels designed to allow the precise diagnosis and characterization of AL within available resources. As many Brazilian flow cytometry laboratories use four-color immunophenotyping, the GBCFLUX has updated that document, according to current leukemia knowledge and after a forum of discussion and validation of antibody panels. Results: Recommendations for morphological analysis of bone marrow smears and performing screening panel for lineage (s) identification of AL were maintained from the previous publication. The lineage-oriented proposed panels for B and T cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) were constructed for an appropriate leukemia classification. Conclusion: Three levels of recommendations (i.e., mandatory, recommended, and optional) were established to enable an accurate diagnosis with some flexibility, considering local laboratory resources and patient-specific needs.

Resumo Esse trabalho teve por objetivo principal investigar as relações existentes entre a Escala Brasileira de Solidão (UCLA-BR) e os níveis de depressão, ansiedade e estresse em estudantes universitários brasileiros. Esses conceitos foram avaliados utilizando escalas validadas (Questionário sobre a saúde do paciente - PHQ-9, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - DASS-21, Inventário Beck de Ansiedade - BAI e Inventário de Sintomas de Stress de Lipp - ISSL). Participaram 325 universitários, que responderam todos os instrumentos. Foram conduzidas análises descritivas, correlacionais e de diferenças de grupo. A prevalência de depressão, ansiedade e estresse variou dependendo do instrumento utilizado. A UCLA-BR apresentou evidências de validade baseadas nas relações com depressão, ansiedade e estresse, principalmente depressão (avaliada pela DASS-21). Analisar as escalas de medida pode ajudar a compreender aspectos da saúde mental dos universitários.

Abstract This paper aimed mainly to investigate the relationships between Brazilian Loneliness Scale (UCLA-BR) and the levels of depression, anxiety and stress in Brazilian college students. These concepts were assessed using validated scales (Patient Health Questionnaire - PHQ-9, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - DASS-21, Beck Anxiety Inventory - BAI and Lipp Stress Symptom Inventory - ISSL). A total of 325 college students participated and responded all the instruments. Descriptive, correlational and group differences analyzes were conducted. The prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress varied depending on the instrument used. UCLA-BR presented evidence of validity based on relationships with depression, anxiety and stress, especially depression (assessed by DASS-21). Analysis of measurement scales can help to understand aspects of college students’ mental health.

Resumen Este estudio tuvo como objetivo principal investigar la relación entre la Escala Brasileña de Soledad (UCLA-BR) y los niveles de depresión, ansiedad y estrés en estudiantes universitarios brasileños. Estos conceptos se evaluaron mediante escalas validadas (Cuestionario de Salud del Paciente - PHQ-9, Escala de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés - DASS-21, Inventario de Ansiedad de Beck - BAI e Inventario de Síntomas de Estrés de Lipp - ISSL). Participaron 325 estudiantes, quienes respondieron a todos los instrumentos. Se realizaron análisis descriptivos, correlacionales y de diferencias grupales. La prevalencia de depresión, ansiedad y estrés varió de acuerdo con el instrumento utilizado. UCLA-BR presentó evidencias de validez basadas en relaciones con depresión, ansiedad y estrés, especialmente depresión (evaluado por DASS-21). El análisis de escalas de medición puede ayudar a comprender aspectos de la salud mental de los estudiantes universitarios.

RESUMEN El pasto amargo (Digitaria insularis) es una de las principales malezas en el cultivo de soya. Para controlar su crecimiento, se requiere un aumento de las tasas de herbicida para simplificar su manejo al ser una planta con alta capacidad vegetativa y producción de semillas. Esto implica seleccionar los biotipos de Digitaria insularis resistentes a herbicidas Sin embargo, aún existe cierta información contrastante que considera el antagonismo de los herbicidas auxínicos sintéticos en las mezclas con inhibidores de ACCase y glifosato, para el control de malezas resistentes o tolerantes a los herbicidas. El estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar el control de D. insularis con mezclas de herbicidas aplicados en la pre-emergencia y pos-emergencia del cultivo de soya y se verificó el posible antagonismo entre los herbicidas inhibidores de ACCase con auxinas sintéticas y otros latifolicidas. El experimento se realizó en Palotina, Paraná, (Brasil) y Corpus Christi, Canindeyú (Paraguay). Los tratamientos consistieron en mezclas de glifosato, inhibidores de ACCase (cletodim, haloxifop) y latifolicidas (2,4-D, triclopir, dicamba, carfentrazona, saflufenacil, clorimurón). Se utilizó un diseño de bloques al azar. El control de arvenses fue satisfactorio sólo en Palotina después de la aplicación secuencial en pos-emergencia. Allí se observó un control efectivo de D. insularis en la pre-emergencia, para algunas mezclas que presentaron glifosato+ACCase+carfentrazona, saflufenacil o clorimurón. Se observó antagonismo para todas las auxinas sintéticas en ambas ubicaciones. En Corpus Christi las mezclas de herbicidas no fueron efectivas, incluso con la aplicación de glifosato+cletodim en la pos-emergencia de soya. Aunque se obtuvo un control ineficaz para tratamientos compuestos con auxinas sintéticas, la aplicación en post-emergencia de soya aumentó el nivel de control, con resultados finales satisfactorios para todos los tratamientos.

ABSTRACT Sourgrass (Digitaria insularis) is one of the main weeds in the soybean crop. In order to control its growth, an increase of herbicide rates is required to simplify its management as it a plant with high vegetative capacity and seed production. It implies to select the herbicide-resistent Digitaria insularis biotypes. Nevertheless, some information is still contrasting the antagonist of synthetic auxinic herbicides, associated with glyphosate and ACCase inhibitors mixtures, for the control of weeds resistant or tolerant to herbicides. This study aimed to evaluate the D. insularis control, with a mixture of herbicides applied in soybean pre-emergence, with sequential application in soybean post-emergence, and to check possible antagonism between ACCase inhibitors herbicides with synthetic auxins and other latifolicides. The experiment was conducted in Palotina, Paraná (Brazil) and Corpus Christi, Canindeyú, (Paraguay.) The treatments consisted of associations of glyphosate, ACCase inhibitors (clethodim, haloxyfop), and latifolicides (2,4-D, triclopyr, dicamba, carfentrazone, saflufenacil, chlorimuron). A randomized block design was used. Only in Palotina, the weed control was satisfactory after sequential application in post-emergence. An antagonism for all synthetic auxins was observed with glyphosate+clethodim or haloxyfop mixtures, in both locations. As a result, in Palotina an efficacious control of perennial D. insularis was found in pre-emergence burndown for some mixtures such as glyphosate+ACCase inhibitor added to carfentrazone, saflufenacil, or chlorimuron. Antagonism was observed for all synthetic auxins, in both locations. In Corpus Christi, the herbicide associations were not effective, even with the post-emergence application in soybean of glyphosate+clethodim. With ineffective control for treatments composed with synthetic auxins, the post-emergence application in soybean increased the weed control with satisfactory final controls for all treatments.

RESUMEN Juntas, Conyza bonariensis, C. canadensis y C. sumatrensis presentan 105 casos reportados de biotipos resistentes a herbicidas tales como glifosato, paraquat y los inhibidores de la acetolactato sintasa (ALS). Se cree que la aplicación de herbicidas pre-emergentes en mezclas con desecantes es efectiva para controlar Conyza spp. en el manejo pre-siembra de la soya. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar la eficacia de sulfentrazona/ diuron, imazetapir/flumioxazin y diclosulam, en mezcla con diquat, paraquat o glufosinato, en el control de Conyza spp. Se realizaron dos experimentos de campo en diseño de bloques al azar con cuatro repeticiones. Los tratamientos consistieron en la aplicación de herbicidas pre-emergentes en mezclas con desecantes, además del tratamiento control (sin aplicación), para un total de 10 tratamientos. El control de Conyza spp. se evaluó a los 7, 14, 21, 28 y 35 d después de la aplicación del herbicida, y se evaluaron los síntomas de daño en las plantas de soya a los 14, 21, 28 y 35 d después de la aplicación del herbicida. Los herbicidas sulfentrazona/diuron, imazetapir/flumioxazin y diclosulam en mezclas con diquat, paraquat o glufosinato, fueron efectivos para controlar Conyza spp. en la pre-siembra de la soya, destacando buenas opciones para la rotación de herbicidas antes y después de la emergencia. Las mezclas con diclosulam mostraron un mayor potencial de daño a las plantas de soya que sulfentrazona/diuron y imazetapir/flumioxazin.

ABSTRACT Together, Conyza bonariensis, C. canadensis and C. sumatrensis show 105 reported cases of biotypes resistant to herbicides like glyphosate, paraquat, and acetolactate synthase (ALS) inhibitors . The application of pre-emergent herbicides combined with burndown herbicides is believed to be effective in controlling Conyza spp. during soybean pre-sowing management. The objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of sulfen-trazone/diuron, imazethapyr/flumioxazin, and diclosulam in mixtures with diquat, paraquat, or glufosinate on the control of Conyza spp. Two field experiments were conducted in a randomized block design with four replicates. Treatments consisted of the application of pre-emergent plus burndown herbicides, besides the weedy control treatment (without application), for a total of 10 treatments. The control of Conyza spp. was evaluated at 7, 14, 21, 28, and 35 d after herbicide application, and symptoms of injury in soybean plants were evaluated at 14, 21, 28, and 35 d after herbicide application. The herbicides sulfentrazone/diuron, imazethapyr/flumioxazin, and diclosulam in combination with burndown herbicides diquat, paraquat, or glufosinate were effective in controlling Conyza spp. in the pre-sowing management of soybean, highlighting good options for pre- and post-emergent herbicide rotations. Mixtures with diclosulam showed a higher potential for injury to soybean plants than sulfentrazone/diuron and imazethapyr/flumioxazin.
