Resumo Devido ao preconceito, a madeira passa de um material de excelente aplicabilidade estrutural para um material considerado vilão do meio ambiente. Entretanto, com a utilização de madeiras de reflorestamento, a madeira vem quebrando esse paradigma e apresenta-se como um excelente material estrutural. Nas ligações estruturais desse tipo de estrutura, as barras de aço coladas têm sido amplamente utilizadas. A avaliação da resistência de ancoragem das barras de aço coladas depende do tipo de adesivo, da rugosidade da barra de aço, da superfície de aderência na região de ancoragem e da umidade da madeira, entre outros fatores que podem ser definidos e controlados no projeto. Neste trabalho, apresentam-se aspectos de projeto, técnica de aplicação, comportamento mecânico das barras de aço (diâmetros de 6,3 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm e 12,5 mm), sem galvanização, coladas com adesivos epóxi e poliuretano em peças de madeira (Pinus oocarpa e Corymbia citriodora), e as formas de ruptura quando solicitadas a esforços axiais (tração e compressão) em corpos de prova, além de abordar as técnicas de colagem e o controle de qualidade. Apresentam-se, ainda, influências das propriedades mecânicas da madeira e das principais variáveis significativas na resistência de ancoragem das barras de aço. É possível concluir que o adesivo epóxi foi a melhor opção para ser utilizada nesse tipo de aplicação.

Abstract As a result of prejudice, wood has not been considered a material with outstanding structural applicability, but rather as an environmental villain. However, with the use of reforestation wood, that paradigm is shifting, and the material is starting to be seen an excellent structural material. In structural connections involving wood, glued steel bars are widely used. The anchorage resistance evaluation of the bonded steel bars depends on the adhesive, on the steel bar roughness, the adhesion surface in the anchorage region, wood humidity among other construction factors that can be defined and controlled in the design. This paper also discusses design aspects, application techniques, the mechanical behaviour of the steel bars (diameters of 6.3 mm, 8 mm, 10 mm and 12.5 mm) without galvanizing, bonded with epoxy or polyurethane adhesives on the wooden parts (Pinus oocarpa and Corymbia citriodora) and forms of rupture when subjected to axial efforts (traction and compression) in specimens. In addition, this article also addresses bonding techniques and quality control, as well as the influence of the mechanical properties of wood and the most influential variables in the anchorage steel bars strength. The study concludes that the epoxy adhesive is the best option to be used in this type of application.

Abstract The use of biopolymers and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is currently investigated as an excellent application biomaterial in the tissue engineering field. Natural biomaterials with application potential in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine are due to their characteristics in biocompatibility, biodegradability, and mechanical characteristic. Though, the basic knowledge of three‐dimensional fibrin scaffold and chitosan/alginate processing technology combined with an understanding of the physical-chemical properties of this natural biomaterial is necessary for proper application in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering. This mini review summarizes the information on the composition of chitosan/alginate and PRF in medical area and discusses recent developments with a special focus on its use for the application of drug delivery. The most important advances and stimulating applications are studies in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, for wound healing to treat burns, tumor treatment, nanoparticle carriers, and drug delivery systems.

Abstract The use of Wharton's Jelly (WJ) as a biomaterial is currently undergoing an appearance in the regenerative medicine field. The biomaterials applications focus on the aspects of cellular growth or delivery of proteins capable of stimulating cellular response. However, the basic knowledge about Wharton jelly and decellularization processing technology combined with understanding the physical-chemical properties of this biomaterial is necessary for proper application in regenerative medicine. This mini-review article summarizes information on the composition of WJ, application of drug delivery, in medicine and discusses recent developments with a special focus on its use for regenerative medicine. The most successful and stimulating applications are studies in regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, for wound healing to treat burns, tumor treatment, nanoparticle carriers, and drug delivery systems.

ABSTRACT To simplify the characterization of wood species, the Brazilian standard document ABNT NBR 7190-1 (2022) establishes the determination of mechanical properties employing the characteristic strength in the compression parallel to grain (fc0,k). This mechanical property is estimated using the linear relation given by the following expression fv0,k = 0.12·fc0,k Brazilian and European standard documents support the estimation of fv0,k using relations among properties. However, the European guidelines in the EN 384 (2019) have used the conventional characteristic strength in the static bending test (fM,k). Thus, this study aimed to investigate the efficiency of the ratio fv0,k = 0.12·fc0,k for adopting 30 hardwoods. The variance analysis results demonstrate the divergence among the experimental outcomes and those values estimated using the relation cited. Therefore, regression models at two parameters were considered to obtain more accurate estimates of fv0,k by adopting fc0,k, and fM,k as independent variables. Regarding the results, the geometric (R² = 80.80%) and linear (R² = 74.19%) models were the most accurate for the estimates of fv0,k in terms of fc0,k, and fM,k, respectively. This fact evinces the good accuracy of the models under consideration, which may provide a more rigorous structural design compared to the correlation currently prescribed by the ABNT NBR 7190-1 (2022).

RESUMO Para simplificar a caracterização de espécies de madeira, o documento normativo brasileiro ABNT NBR 7190-1 (2022) estabelece a determinação de propriedades mecânicas por meio da resistência característica na compressão paralela às fibras (fc0,k). Essa propriedade mecânica é estimada utilizando-se da relação linear dada pela expressão a seguir fv0,k = 0.12·fc0,k. Ambos os documentos normativos europeu e brasileiro prescrevem a estimativa da fv0,k empregando-se relações entre propriedades, embora as diretrizes da europeia contidas na EN 384 (2019) utilize a resistência característica convencional obtida no teste de flexão estática (fM,k). Assim, esse estudo teve o objetivo de investigar a eficiência da relação fv0,k = 0.12·fc0,k para 30 espécies folhosas. Os resultados da análise de variância demonstram a divergência entre os resultados experimentais e aqueles estimados utilizando-se da relação citada. Portanto, modelos de regressão em função de dois parâmetros foram considerados para se obter estimativas mais precisas da fv0,k através da adoção da fc0,k e fM,k como variáveis independentes. Com relação aos resultados, os modelos geométrico (R² = 80.80%) e linear (R² = 74.19%) foram os mais precisos para a estimativa da fv0,k em termos da fc0,k e fM,k, respectivamente. Este fato evidencia a boa precisão dos modelos em questão, o que pode proporcionar um dimensionamento estrutural mais rigoroso quando comparado à correlação atualmente prescrita pela ABNT NBR 7190-1 (2022).

Abstract The treatment of tracheal pathologies remains challenging.Nanotechnology allows adding substances to decellularized human amniotic membrane (DHAM), such as 15-Deoxy-∆12,14ProstaglandinJ2 nanoparticles (15D-PGJ2-NC).This study performed a tracheotomy in rabbits randomized into three groups.The tissue repair process was evaluated when treated with DHAM associated or not with 15D-PGJ2-NC.The average of the area in the control group was 54.76% smaller than DHAM group and 41.98% smaller than DHAM + 15D-PGJ2-NC group (p=0.004 for both).The DHAM + 15D-PGJ2-NC group had significantly more immature cartilage (p=0.015).DHAM impregnated with 15D-PGJ2-NC could provide support for the healing of the tracheal defect and may prevent reduction of its lumen.

Abstract Trauma is a leading cause of death, permanent disability, and health care cost worldwide. The young and economically active are the most affected population. Exsanguination due to noncompressible torso hemorrhage is one of the most frequent causes of early death, posing a significant challenge to trauma and vascular surgeons. The possibility of limb loss due to vascular injuries must also be considered. In recent decades, the approach to vascular injuries has been significantly modified. Angiotomography has become the standard method for diagnosis, endovascular techniques are currently incorporated in treatment, and damage control, such as temporary shunts, is now the preferred approach for the patients sustaining physiological derangement. Despite the importance of this topic, few papers in the Brazilian literature have offered guidelines on vascular trauma. The Brazilian Society of Angiology and Vascular Surgery has developed Projetos Diretrizes (Guideline Projects), which includes this publication on vascular trauma. Since treating trauma patients is a multidisciplinary effort, the Brazilian Trauma Society (SBAIT) was invited to participate in this project. Members of both societies reviewed the literature on vascular trauma management and together wrote these guidelines on vascular injuries of neck, thorax, abdomen, and extremities.

Resumo Trauma é uma causa importante de morbimortalidade, que acomete principalmente jovens. A hemorragia incoercível é o principal mecanismo de óbito precoce nessas vítimas, e as lesões vasculares não compressíveis representam grandes desafios para os cirurgiões. O traumatismo vascular impacta diretamente a viabilidade de membros traumatizados, aumentando o risco de amputação. Nas últimas décadas, muitas condutas de diagnóstico e tratamento de lesões vasculares traumáticas foram modificadas. A angiotomografia suplantou a angiografia como padrão ouro para diagnóstico, as técnicas endovasculares foram incorporadas ao arsenal terapêutico e o conceito de “controle de danos” foi estabelecido. No entanto, há lacunas na literatura nacional sobre a normatização de condutas em trauma vascular, principalmente considerando as limitações do Brasil. Por isso, a Sociedade Brasileira de Angiologia e de Cirurgia Vascular e a Sociedade Brasileira de Atendimento Integrado ao Traumatizado revisaram a literatura disponível sobre trauma vascular e organizaram diretrizes sobre o diagnóstico e tratamento dessas lesões.

Resumo: As sementes de manjericão (Ocimum basilicum L.) são desuniformes, decorrente do processo de florescimento e polinização característico da espécie. Diante desse cenário, surge a necessidade de se realizar pesquisas voltadas para o estabelecimento de métodos eficazes para a identificação de sementes aptas a germinar e com potencial para originar plântulas vigorosas. O presente trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar a relação entre a morfologia interna, por meio da análise de imagens radiográficas, e o desempenho germinativo de sementes de manjericão. Foram avaliadas radiografias de sementes de oito lotes do cultivar Alfavaca Basilicão. O comprimento das plântulas provenientes das sementes radiografadas foi obtido pela análise computadorizada de imagens, utilizando-se o software SVIS®, sendo os resultados comparados com as imagens radiográficas. Por meio das radiografias foi possível visualizar a morfologia interna das sementes de manjericão, bem como detectar sementes vazias, malformadas, com tecidos deteriorados e danos mecânicos. A análise de imagens radiográficas permitiu estabelecer uma relação de causa e efeito entre a integridade física dos tecidos com o desempenho germinativo das sementes, com potencial para a seleção de sementes que irão compor lotes de melhor qualidade. Abstract: Sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) seeds exhibit heterogeneity due to the characteristic flowering and pollination process of this species. Consequently, the necessity for research geared toward establishing effective methodologies for identifying seeds capable of germinating and with potential for producing vigorous seedlings becomes apparent. This study was undertaken with the aim of assessing the relationship between internal morphology, as evaluated through radiographic image analysis, and the germination performance of sweet basil seeds. Radiographs of seeds from eight lots of the cultivar Alfavaca Basilicão were examined. The length of seedling originated from radiographed seeds was obtained through computerized image analysis using SVIS® software and the results were compared with the radiographic images. Radiographs allowed visualization of the internal morphology of sweet basil seeds, enabling the identification of empty seeds, malformed seeds, seeds with tissue deterioration and mechanical damage. The analysis of radiographic images substantially contributed to establishing a cause-and-effect relationship between the physical integrity of tissues and the germination performance of the seeds, underscoring the potential for selecting seeds that will contribute to enhanced lot quality. RESUMEN En los últimos años el cultivo de café guatemalteco ha sufrido declinación en su rendimiento como resultado de la roya del café. El uso de cultivares resistentes a esta enfermedad y con potencial para producir cafés con buena calidad de bebida es fundamental para la sustentabilidad del cultivo en el país. El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el potencial de calidad del grano y el perfil sensorial de genotipos de café Arábica resistentes a la roya, en función de diferentes tiempos de fermentación biológica. El experimento se implementó en julio de 2014, en la finca El Panorama, ubicada en el municipio de San Rafael Pie de La Cuesta, Departamento de San Marcos, Guatemala. Se probaron ocho progenies F5 resistentes a la roya y se utilizaron como controles los cultivares Marsellesa y Bourbon Amarelo. Cada genotipo fue sometido a dos tiempos de fermentación biológica en agua, después del pelado (24 y 72 h). El diseño experimental fue bloques completos al azar con tres repeticiones en un esquema factorial 10 (genotipos) × 2 (tiempos), totalizando 60 unidades experimentales. Se evaluó la calidad, perfil sensorial y granulometría de los tratamientos. Todos los genotipos estudiados resistentes a la roya mostraron potencial para la producción de cafés especiales en Guatemala y una granulometría superior en relación al Bourbon Amarelo. Marsellesa y Bourbon Amarelo obtuvieron puntajes finales más altos y los atributos de sabor, regusto, acidez, cuerpo, equilibrio y en general, fueron más acentuados. El tiempo de fermentación biológica no influyó en la puntuación final del café (pontuación total en el protocolo SCA); sin embargo, hubo un cambio en el perfil sensorial, con énfasis en el cultivar Marsellesa, que aumentó la frecuencia de notas frutales y redujo las notas de caramelo con mayor tiempo de fermentación.

SUMMARY In recent years, the Guatemalan coffee plantations have suffered a decline in its yield as a result of coffee rust. The use of cultivars resistant to this disease and with the potential to produce coffee with good drinking quality is essential for the sustainability of coffee cultivation in the country. The aim of this study was to analyze bean quality potential and the sensory profile of rust-resistant Arabica coffee genotypes as a function of different times of biological fermentation. The experiment was carried out in July 2014, at El Panorama farm, located in the municipality of San Rafael Pie de La Cuesta, Department of San Marcos, Guatemala. Eight rust resistant F5 progenies were tested and cultivars Marsellesa and Bourbon Amarelo were used as controls. Each genotype was subjected to two times of biological fermentation in water, after peeling (24 and 72 h). The experimental design was randomized complete blocks with three replications, in a 10 (genotypes) × 2 (times) factorial scheme, totaling 60 experimental units. The quality, sensory profile and granulometry of the treatments were evaluated. All the rust-resistant genotypes studied showed potential to produce specialty coffees in Guatemala and a superior granulometry in relation to Bourbon Amarelo. Marsellesa and Bourbon Amarelo obtained higher final scores and the attributes flavor, aftertaste, acidity, body, balance and overall were more accentuated. The time of biological fermentation did not influence the final score of the coffee (total score in the SCA protocol); however, there was a change in the sensory profile, with emphasis on cultivar Marsellesa, which increased the frequency of fruity notes and reduced caramel notes with longer fermentation time.

ABSTRACTS This paper deals with the need to provide specialized content about movement security to the students of the Bachelor Education Mechanization major in the University of Holguín. The knowledge are essential to complete the academic training of the future education professionals in technical and trade schools of the Holguín province and other zones of the country. In order that, the mainspring of this work is, to fix the proposed subject syllabus titled: “Movement Security”, for this reason is based on the analysis of the need for its implementation in the curriculum of this major.

RESUMEN El presente artículo aborda la necesidad de ofrecer contenidos especializados sobre la seguridad del movimiento a los estudiantes de la carrera Licenciatura en Educación especialidad Mecanización de la Universidad de Holguín. Estos conocimientos son esenciales para completar la formación académica de los futuros profesionales de la educación de la provincia de Holguín y otras regiones del país. Por lo que constituye el móvil principal del presente trabajo, concretar la propuesta de un programa de Asignatura Propia titulado: “Seguridad del movimiento”, por esta razón se parte del análisis de la necesidad de su implementación en el currículo de esta carrera.

Resumo Objetivos Avaliar a correlação entre as alterações radiológicas (Pfirrmann e Modic) e a intensidade da dor radicular em pacientes submetidos a cirurgia endoscópica transforaminal para hérnia de disco lombar. Métodos Uma sequência de casos com 39 pacientes, 50 discos intervertebrais em avaliação pré-operatória, no período de 29 de janeiro de 2018 a 28 de agosto de 2019, no serviço de cirurgia endoscópica da coluna vertebral. Os dados demográficos, indicação cirúrgica, detalhes operatórios e complicações foram todos obtidos junto aos prontuários clínicos. Os pacientes foram divididos em três grupos, com base na classificação Modic (ausência de Modic, Modic 1 e Modic 2) e em dois grupos, considerando a classificação de Pfirrmann (Pfirrmann IV e Pfirrmann V). Os dados foram processados no software IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, versão 22.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, EUA), com nível de significância de p <0,05. Resultados Não houve diferença entre os gêneros; idade: 50,36 ± 15,05 anos; nível da doença: L2-L3 1 (2%), L3-L4 2 (4%), L4-L5 9 (18%), L5-S1 8 (16%), L3-L4 + L4-L5 4 (8%), e L4-L5 + L5-S1 26 (52%); localização: foraminal direito em 7 pacientes (14%), foraminal esquerdo em 15 pacientes (30%), central em 9 pacientes (18%), e difuso em 19 pacientes (38%); dor radicular: esquerda em 25 pacientes (50%), direita em 11 pacientes (22%), e bilateral em 14 pacientes (28%); escala visual analógica (EVA) pré-operatório: 9,5 ± 0,91, pós-operatório: 2,5 ± 1,79; tempo cirúrgico: 100 ± 31,36 minutos; e acompanhamento de 8,4 ± 6,7 meses. Foi registrada menos dor ciática pós-operatória nos grupos Modic 2 versus Modic 1 (p< 0,05). Não houve diferença na dor radicular pós-operatória entre os grupos Pfirrmann (IV versus V). Conclusão Embora não exista diferença clínica entre os grupos, em estágios avançados da degeneração discal, a discectomia transforaminal endoscópica mostrou-se eficaz na redução da dor radicular em pacientes com hérnia de disco lombar.

Abstract Objectives To evaluate the correlation between radiologic changes (Pfirrmann and Modic) and radicular pain intensity in patients who underwent transforaminal endoscopic surgery for lumbar disc herniation. Methods Series of cases with 39 patients, 50 intervertebral discs in preoperative evaluation from January 29, 2018 to August 28, 2019 in an endoscopic spine surgery service. Demographic data, surgical indication, operative details and complications were obtained from medical records. The patients were divided into three groups based on the Modic classification (Modic absence, Modic 1 and Modic 2) and into two groups considering the Pfirrmann classification (Pfirrmann IV and Pfirrmann V). Data were processed in IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 22.0 (IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA), with a significance level of p< 0,05. Results There was no difference between genders; age: 50,36 ± 15,05 years old; disease level: L2-L3 1 (2%), L3-L4 2 (4%), L4-L5 9 (18%), L5-S1 8 (16%), L3-L4 + L4-L5 4 (8%), and L4-L5 + L5-S1 26 (52%); location: right foraminal 7 (14%), left foraminal 15 (30%), central 9 (18%) and diffuse 19 (38%); radicular pain: left 25 (50%), right 11 (22%), and bilateral 14 (28%); preoperative visual analogue scale (VAS): 9,5 ± 0,91, postoperative: 2,5 ± 1,79; surgery duration: 100 ± 31,36 minutes; and follow-up: 8,4 ± 6,7 months. Less postoperative sciatica was registered in the Modic 2 versus Modic 1 group (p< 0,05). There was no difference in the postoperative radicular pain between the Pfirrmann groups (IV versus V). Conclusion Although there is no clinical difference between the groups, in advanced stages of disc degeneration, endoscopic transforaminal discectomy proved to be effective in diminishing radicular pain in patients with lumbar disc herniation.

Resumen: Antecedentes y Objetivos: En algunos países, los habitantes de las comunidades rurales complementan su dieta con frutos obtenidos de plantas silvestres, los cuales generalmente carecen de información nutricional y fitoquímica, como ocurre con los frutos de las especies endémicas en México del género Jarilla (Caricaceae). Por lo tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue estudiar la composición nutricional de frutos de Jarilla caudata en términos de su análisis químico proximal, contenido de minerales y aminoácidos, así como determinar la presencia de metabolitos secundarios, contenido total de compuestos fenólicos y flavonoides. Métodos: Los frutos se colectaron en el municipio Teocuitatlán de Corona, Jalisco, en julio de 2018 y 2019. Para determinar la composición químico proximal se siguieron los métodos oficiales de análisis de AOAC. El contenido de minerales se determinó por espectrofotometría de absorción atómica y los aminoácidos por cromatografía de líquidos de alta resolución (HPLC). Para el análisis de metabolitos secundarios se utilizaron diversos reactivos, y el contenido de compuestos fenólicos y flavonoides totales se cuantificó por espectrofotometría. Resultados clave: En comparación con otros frutos silvestres de la familia Caricaceae, los resultados indicaron que los frutos de J. caudata representan una buena fuente de carbohidratos y proteínas (35.7 y 18.9 g/100 g respectivamente), así como de algunos minerales (K, P y Ca). Se observó un pobre perfil y contenido de aminoácidos. El promedio de compuestos fenólicos totales fue de 387.5 mg GAE/100 mg, mientras que el de flavonoides totales fue de 56.5 mg QE/100 mg. No se detectaron compuestos considerados tóxicos o antinutricionales como alcaloides y glucósidos cianogénicos. Conclusiones: Durante el verano, los frutos de J. caudata pueden tener un papel importante como complemento alimenticio para los habitantes de la región de Teocuitatlán de Corona, aportando diferentes nutrientes, particularmente carbohidratos y proteínas, así como otros compuestos con efectos favorables para la salud como los polifenoles.

Abstract Background and Aims: In some countries, the inhabitants of rural communities supplement their diet with fruits obtained from wild plants, which usually lack nutritional and phytochemical information, as occurs with the fruits of the Mexican endemic species of the genus Jarilla (Caricaceae). Therefore, the aim of this research was to study the nutritional composition of Jarilla caudata fruits in terms of their proximal chemical analysis, mineral content and amino acid composition, and determine the presence of secondary metabolites, the total content of phenolic compounds and flavonoids. Methods: The fruits were collected in the municipality Teocuitatlán de Corona, Jalisco, in July 2018 and 2019. The proximal chemical composition was analyzed using the official methods of analysis (AOAC), the mineral content was determined by means of atomic absorption spectrophotometry, while the amino acids were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Various reagents were used for the preliminary determination of secondary metabolites. The content in phenolic compounds and total flavonoids was quantified by spectrophotometry. Key results: In comparison with other fruits of the Caricaceae family, the results indicated that the fruits of J. caudata represent a good source of carbohydrates and proteins (35.7 and 18.9 g/100 g, respectively), as well as some minerals (K, P and Ca). A poor amino acid profile and content was found. The average content of total phenolic compounds was 387.5 mg GAE/100 mg, while that of flavonoids was 56.5 mg QE/100 mg. Compounds considered toxic or antinutritional, such as alkaloids and cyanogenic glycosides, were not detected. Conclusions: During summer the fruits of J. caudata can play an important role as a food supplement for the inhabitants of the region of Teocuitatlán de Corona, providing different nutrients, particularly carbohydrates and proteins, as well as other compounds with favorable health effects, such as polyphenols.

Resumo Coarctação da aorta abdominal é uma causa rara de claudicação de membros inferiores e hipertensão refratária. O tratamento é complexo e exige conhecimento de diversas técnicas de reconstrução vascular. Apresentamos um caso de coarctação ao nível das artérias renais, seu tratamento e revisão da literatura. Paciente feminina, 65 anos, com hipertensão refratária desde os 35 anos, utilizando cinco medicações anti-hipertensivas em dose máxima. Pressão arterial média de 260/180mmHg e claudicação incapacitante (menos de 20 metros) bilateral. Angiotomografia computadorizada demonstrou coarctação de aorta justarrenal de 4 mm de maior diâmetro, calcificação circunferencial no local da estenose e tortuosidade da aorta infrarrenal. Foi submetida a tratamento híbrido, com ponte ilíaco-birrenal e implante de stent Advanta V12 no local da estenose. A paciente evoluiu satisfatoriamente e, 60 dias depois da cirurgia, apresentava-se com uma pressão arterial de 140/80mmHg, em uso de apenas duas medicações anti-hipertensivas e sem claudicação.

Abstract Coarctation of the abdominal aorta is a rare etiology of intermittent claudication and refractory hypertension. Treatment is complex and requires knowledge of several vascular reconstruction techniques. We report a case of aortic coarctation at the level of the renal arteries, describing its treatment and presenting a literature review. Female patient, 65 years old, with refractory hypertension since the age of 35, using five antihypertensive medications at maximum doses. Blood pressure was 260/180mmHg and she had disabling claudication (less than 20 meters). Computed tomography angiography showed a 4mm coarctation in the juxtarenal aorta, with circumferential calcification at the stenosis site, and tortuous infrarenal aorta. Hybrid repair was performed with an iliac-birenal bypass and implantation of an Advanta V12 stent at the stenosis site. The patient’s postoperative course was satisfactory, she was free from claudication, and her blood pressure 60 days after surgery was 140/80mmHg, taking two antihypertensive medications.

RESUMO Neste trabalho avaliou-se numericamente a influência do módulo de elasticidade paralelo às fibras da madeira na estabilidade de arcos treliçados, considerando uma análise não linear geométrica baseada no Método dos Elementos Finitos (MEF). Essa abordagem foi realizada conforme uma formulação posicional do MEF, atribuindo-se os nós da estrutura como variáveis principais do sistema de equações não lineares, cuja resolução foi alcançada pelo método de Newton-Raphson. Ao todo, sete modelos de arco foram avaliados adotando-se madeiras coníferas e folhosas, com propriedades definidas segundo as classes de resistência da norma brasileira ABNT NBR 7190. Subrotinas foram desenvolvidas em linguagem MATLAB para resolução do sistema de equações não lineares e processamento da análise, incluindo a representação gráfica dos resultados e configurações do arco treliçado. Valores de esforços internos e deslocamentos foram determinados, assim como as forças de instabilidade dos arcos treliçados. Verificou-se que a força de instabilidade do arco constituído pela madeira folhosa mais rígida (D60) foi aproximadamente igual a 700% da força de instabilidade referente à classe conífera C20, e equivalente a 257,8% da força associada à classe folhosa D20. Concluiu-se que o módulo de elasticidade apresentou influência significativa no comportamento não linear geométrico do arco treliçado de madeira. Além disso, a análise não linear geométrica possibilitou o cálculo de parâmetros mais precisos e a verificação da estabilidade do sistema estrutural.

ABSTRACT In this work, it was numerically evaluated the influence of the modulus of elasticity parallel to the wood grain on the stability of trussed arches considering a nonlinear geometric analysis based on the Finite Element Method (FEM). This approach was carried out according to a positional formulation of the FEM, considering the structural nodes as main variables of the nonlinear equations system, whose resolution was obtained using the Newton-Raphson method. Altogether, seven arch models were evaluated, consisting of coniferous and hardwoods, with properties defined according to the strength classes of the Brazilian standard ABNT NBR 7190. The subroutines were written in MATLAB to solve the system of nonlinear equations and perform the analysis, including the graphical representation of the results and configurations of the trussed arch. Internal loads and displacements were obtained, in addition to the instability loads of the trussed arches. It was found that the instability load of the arch made with the stiffest hardwood (D60) was approximately equal to 700% of the instability load of the C20 coniferous class and equivalent to 257.8% of the D20 hardwood class-related load. It was verified that the modulus of elasticity significantly influences the nonlinear geometric behavior of the timber trussed arch. Furthermore, the nonlinear geometric analysis allowed calculating more accurate parameters and the verification of the stability of the structural system.

RESUMO Objetivou-se com este trabalho, avaliar a interação entre genótipos e ambientes, bem como indicar, para o estado do Ceará, cultivares de feijão-caupi superiores quanto à adaptabilidade, estabilidade e produtividade de grãos secos. Os experimentos foram conduzidos em quatro diferentes municípios do estado do Ceará: Crateús, Madalena, Bela Cruz e Limoeiro do Norte; sendo dois ensaios realizados em Crateús (irrigado e sequeiro), totalizando cinco ambientes de avaliação. O delineamento experimental utilizado em cada ensaio foi o de blocos casualizados com 12 genótipos e quatro repetições. Foram realizadas análises de variância e análise de trilha, e as médias dos caracteres quantitativos foram agrupadas pelo teste de Scott-Knott. Depois de detectar a significância da interação genótipos x ambientes, a adaptabilidade e a estabilidade fenotípica dos genótipos foram analisadas pela metodologia GGE biplot. O município de Crateús, no sistema irrigado, foi discriminativo e representativo, podendo ser considerado ideal para avaliação de genótipos. As cultivares BRS Pajeú e BRS Potengi podem ser recomendadas para o cultivo no estado do Ceará por apresentarem alta produtividade de grãos secos, adaptabilidade e estabilidade, e por terem se destacado quanto à maioria dos componentes de produção. O número de vagens por planta apresentou o maior efeito direto sobre a produtividade de grãos.

ABSTRACT The aim of this work was to evaluate the interaction between genotypes and environments, as well as to indicate, for the state of Ceará, superior cowpea cultivars in terms of adaptability, stability and productivity of dry grains. The experiments were conducted in four different municipalities in the state of Ceará: Crateús, Madalena, Bela Cruz and Limoeiro do Norte; two tests carried out in Crateús (irrigated and rainfed), totaling five assessment environments. The experimental design used in each assay was randomized blocks with 12 genotypes and four replications. Analysis of variance and path analysis were performed, and the averages of the quantitative characters were grouped by the Scott-Knott test. After detecting the significance of the genotype x environment interaction, the adaptability and phenotypic stability of the genotypes were analyzed using the GGE biplot methodology. The municipality of Crateús, in the irrigated system, was discriminative and representative, and can be considered ideal for genotype evaluation. The cultivars BRS Pajeú and BRS Potengi can be recommended for cultivation in the state of Ceará due to their high productivity of dry grains, adaptability and stability, and for having excelled in most of the production components. The number of pods per plant had the greatest direct effect on grain yield.
