Abstract. La Rumorosa region, located in northwestern Mexico, is characterized by intense local wind speeds, which led to the installation of wind farms. In this area, the contribution of wind power from the Santa Ana winds (SAWs), which are part of the regional wind regime, is unknown. In addition, the valley-mountain winds, cold fronts, extratropical storms, and other meteorological phenomena contribute to the totality of wind power production. For this reason, this study focused on classifying SAW events over a period of 10 years (2005-2014) considering the following categories: “weak,” “moderate,” and “strong.” The criteria for the analysis were associated with the average wind velocity magnitude, the dimensionless pressure gradient, and the normalization of pressure values, gust magnitude, and average wind velocity magnitude. The proposed classification provides information on the behavior of SAW in the area and, by extension, their contribution to wind power generation in La Rumorosa.

Resumen. La región de La Rumorosa, localizada en el noroeste de México, se caracteriza por sus fuertes velocidades en la magnitud del viento a nivel local, lo que ha originado la instalación de parques eólicos. En esta zona, no se conoce de forma precisa la contribución de energía eléctrica eólica de los vientos de Santa Ana (VSA), que son parte del régimen de viento regional. Además los vientos de valle-montaña, los frentes fríos, las tormentas extratropicales y otros fenómenos meteorológicos, en conjunto, contribuyen a la totalidad de energía eléctrica generada. Por ello, este estudio se centra en clasificar, por un periodo temporal de 10 años (2005-2014), los eventos de VSA considerando las categorías: “débil”, “moderado” y “fuerte”. En el análisis se aplicaron criterios asociados a los parámetros de la magnitud de la velocidad promedio del viento, el gradiente de presión adimensional y la normalización de valores de presión, magnitud de la velocidad de ráfaga y magnitud de la velocidad promedio del viento. La clasificación propuesta proporciona información sobre el comportamiento de los VSA en la zona y, por ende, su contribución en la generación de energía eólica en La Rumorosa.

Resumen La presente investigación enmarcada en un estudio de casos colectivo, analizó 26 planificaciones de clases con foco en discusión productiva, práctica que fomenta las oportunidades de aprendizaje bajo la dinámica de interacción en el aula, elaboradas por 14 docentes de química en formación que cursaron simultáneamente didáctica y práctica profesional el segundo semestre del 2021 en distintos centros educativos de la Región Metropolitana (Chile). El objetivo fue caracterizar por medio de la dimensión didáctica de los planos de desarrollo del pensamiento científico (PPC), la carga teórica de las preguntas/enunciados en la promoción de la discusión productiva, además de identificar el enfoque/estrategia desarrollado: historia de la química (HdQ), naturaleza de las ciencias (NOS), problemáticas socio- científicas (CTS-A), o contexto cotidiano. En 3 de las 26 planificaciones que se identificó HdQ, CTS-A y/o NOS, se utilizó el software atlas ti para analizar la narrativa de la clase completa, donde los resultados de co-ocurrencia mostraron la relación entre discusión con socialización, habilidades de pensamiento científico (explicación) y los PPC: instrumental, personal y social, proporcionando evidencia empírica de cómo esta dimensión didáctica permitiría orientar tanto la implementación de la discusión productiva, como las instancias de reflexión en los talleres de práctica profesional.

Abstract The present research, framed in a collective case study, analyzed 26 lesson plans focused on productive discussion, a practice that promotes learning opportunities under the dynamics of interaction in the classroom, elaborated by 14 chemistry teachers in training who simultaneously studied didactics and professional practice in the second semester of 2021 in different educational centers of the Metropolitan Region (Chile). The objective was to characterize by means of the didactic dimension of the development plans of scientific thinking (PPC), the theoretical load of the questions/statements in the promotion of productive discussion, in addition to identifying the approach/strategy developed: history of chemistry (HdQ), nature of science (NOS), socio-scientific problems (CTS-A), or daily context. In 3 of the 26 plans that identified HdQ, CTS-A and/or NOS, atlas ti software was used to analyze the narrative of the entire class, where the results of co-occurrence showed the relationship between discussion with socialization, scientific thinking skills (explanation) and instrumental, personal and social PPCs, providing empirical evidence of how this didactic dimension would allow guiding both the implementation of productive discussion and the instances of reflection in the professional practice workshops.

Abstract Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is a polyunsaturated essential fatty acid from the omega-3 series that appears to be key to perinatal mental health. For this, the aim of this review is to evaluate the effect of DHA on maternal mental health during pregnancy and lactation with respect to depression and anxiety. The present scoping review was carried out following the methodology of Arksey and O’Malley (2005). The selection of studies was carried out in accordance with PRISMA by means of systematic searches in the PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO and Medline databases. The results classified according to the effectiveness of DHA. In most (n = 9) of the 14 studies finally included, DHA plasma levels with or without other polyunsaturated omega-3 fatty acids were significantly lower in pregnant women with depressive and anxiety symptoms. However, no study reported a beneficial effect of DHA on mental health during the postpartum period. The majority used detection method was the Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (n = 11). The prevalence of depressive symptoms ranged between 5.9 % and 50 %. As a conclusion, although more research is needed in this area, these exploratory results suggest that DHA could play an important role in preventing the pathogenesis of depression and anxiety during gestation.

Resumen El ácido docosahexaenoico (DHA) es un ácido graso esencial poliinsaturado de la serie omega-3 que parece ser clave para la salud mental perinatal. Por ello, el objetivo de esta revisión es evaluar el efecto del DHA sobre la salud mental materna durante el embarazo y la lactancia con respecto a la depresión y la ansiedad. La presente revisión se llevó a cabo siguiendo la metodología de Arksey y O’Malley (2005). La selección de estudios se realizó de acuerdo con PRISMA mediante búsquedas sistemáticas en las bases de datos PubMed, Scopus, PsycINFO y Medline. Los resultados se catalogaron según la eficacia del DHA. En la mayoría (n = 9) de los 14 estudios finalmente incluidos, los niveles plasmáticos de DHA con o sin otros ácidos grasos omega-3 poliinsaturados fueron significativamente más bajos en mujeres embarazadas con síntomas de depresión y ansiedad. Sin embargo, ningún estudio informó un efecto beneficioso del DHA sobre la salud mental durante el periodo posparto. El método de detección más utilizado fue la Escala de Depresión Posparto de Edimburgo (n = 11). La prevalencia de síntomas depresivos osciló entre el 5,9 % y el 50 %. Como conclusión, aunque se necesita más investigación en este ámbito, los resultados exploratorios parecen indicar que el DHA juega un papel importante en la prevención de la patogenia de la depresión y la ansiedad durante el periodo de gestación.

Resumen La resiliencia es la competencia de afrontamiento y adaptación a las condiciones estresantes que puede experimentar una persona. Se puede expresar a través de varias estrategias como el optimismo, la perseverancia, la creatividad y el crecimiento positivo frente a la adversidad. Esta investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar las propiedades psicométricas de la Escala Breve de Estrategias Resilientes (BRCS) en población adulta colombiana. La muestra estuvo conformada por 456 adultos colombianos (41.7 % hombres y 58.3 % mujeres) entre los 18 y los 86 años (M = 46.99). El coeficiente de fiabilidad para el puntaje total de las dos subescalas de la BRCS fue de .77. Se corroboró la validez del constructo a través de la bondad de ajuste del modelo de un factor y la correlación entre los cuatro ítems, por el que se confirmó la estructura del modelo propuesto por Sinclair y Wallston (2004). Se analizó la validez concurrente con medidas de afrontamiento religioso y personalidad Tipo D. Se efectuó un análisis de la discriminación de los reactivos a través del coeficiente de correlación biserial, que indicó que las correlaciones del ítem con la escala total tienen un nivel de discriminación excelente, con valores entre .740 y .807. Los resultados muestran correlaciones significativas entre la resiliencia y el afrontamiento religioso positivo, índices de confiabilidad interna aceptables y consistencia interna, dados los índices del análisis factorial confirmatorio. Se concluye que la evidencia sugiere que la escala BRCS es un instrumento válido y confiable para la evaluación de la capacidad de resiliencia en adultos colombianos.

Abstract Resilience is the ability to cope and adapt to stressful situations that a person may experience. This ability can be expressed through several strategies such as optimism, perseverance, creativity, and positive growth from adversity. Considering the few studies on this subject in the Latin American context and, therefore, the difficulties in evaluating resilient strategies in adults, this research considered to analyze the psychometric characteristics of the Brief Resilient Strategies Scale (BRCS). This study aimed to analyze the psychometric properties of the “Brief Resilient Coping Scale (BRCS)” in the Colombian adult population. The sample consisted of 456 Colombian adults (41.7 % men and 58.3 % women) between 18 and 86 years old (M = 46.99). The reliability coefficient for the total score of the two BRCS subscales was .77. The construct validity was confirmed by goodness of fit results for applying a one-factor model to the scale and the correlation between the four items, confirming the structure of the model proposed by Sinclair y Wallston (2004), the initial solution of a factor was confirmed, with the same items loading the same factor and with factorial weights greater than .3. Likewise, all the values of the goodness of fit indices are within the accepted ranges for a good fit of the model. That is, the data fit the factorial model well. The concurrent validity was analyzed with measures of religious coping and type D personality. Positive correlations of the BRCS scale were found with positive religious coping of the RCOPE, indicating that a greater resilience, more expression of a sense of spirituality. In the same way, the BRCS scale correlates with the DS-14 scale, indicating that a greater resilience, less tendency to experience negative emotions such as dysphoria, tension, worry, irritability, and anger more extensively over time. In addition, the correlations indicated that a higher resilience, lower vulnerability to psychological stress with experiences of strong negative emotions and inhibition of their expression in interaction with other people. The results of the criterion validity suggest that people who use resilient strategies and religious coping are protective factors for the physical and mental health of the adult population, in such a way that people with higher levels of resilience may have a greater expression of a sense spiritual. Likewise, the most resilient subjects use variables such as satisfaction with life, humor, perceived personal competence, optimism, among others, indicative of a heightened sense of internal coherence. Also, the subjects who demonstrated greater resilience capacity were less vulnerable to experiencing negative affect and social inhibition. In general terms, these results suggest that the use of resilient strategies is related to constructs that are theoretically expected from a clinical and mental health perspective. The results show significant correlations between resilience and positive religious coping, acceptable internal reliability indices and internal consistency given the confirmatory factor analysis indices. An item discrimination analysis was performed through the biserial correlation coefficient, the correlations of the item with the total scale have an excellent level of discrimination, with values between .740 and .807. For data analysis, IBM SPSS Software®, Version 25, the R for Statistical Computing program (R Project, 2019) and LISREL 8.80 was used. The evidence suggests that the BRCS scale is a valid and reliable instrument for assessing resilience capacity in Colombian adults. In general, it was found that the BRCS has good psychometric properties in the various countries where it has been evaluated, for all the population groups analyzed, with only significant differences between men and women.

Resumen Este artículo señala las bondades de la libre competencia para la agenda del actual gobierno nacional. Examina el posible rol de la Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio en la consecución de objetivos de política tales como la justicia económica, social y ambiental. Primero sintetiza los pilares de los bloques de transformación que propone el gobierno; luego muestra que una adecuada aplicación de la política de competencia contribuye a lograr algunos fines sociales como la distribución equitativa de los recursos, la igualdad, la promoción de una economía integrada por pequeñas y medianas empresas y el mejoramiento de la calidad de vida de la población. Después, argumenta que la aplicación rigurosa del régimen de competencia es fundamental para mantener la dirección de la agenda económica del país en el próximo cuatrienio y, finalmente, presenta algunas reflexiones derivadas del análisis. Examina o possível papel da Superintendência de Indústria e Co mércio no alcance de objetivos políticos como a justiça econômica, social e ambiental. Primeiro sintetiza os pilares dos blocos de transformação propostos pelo governo e depois mostra que a aplicação adequada da política de concorrência contribui para alcançar alguns fins sociais, tais como distribuição equitativa de recursos, igualdade, promoção de uma economia integrada de pequenas e médias empresas e melhoria da qualidade de vida da população. Em seguida, argumenta que a aplicação rigorosa do regime de concorrência é essencial para manter a direção da agenda econômica do país nos próximos quatro anos e apresenta algumas reflexões derivadas da análise. Abstract This article points out the benefits of free competition for the agenda of the current national government. It examines the possible role of the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce in achieving policy objectives such as economic, social, and environmental justice. It first synthesizes the pillars of the transformation blocks proposed by the government and then shows that adequate enforcement of competition policy contributes to achieving some social goals such as equitable distribution of resources, equality, promotion of an economy integrated by small and medium-sized enterprises, and improvement of the quality of life of the population. It then argues that the rigorous application of the competition regime is fundamental to maintain the direction of the country's economic agenda in the next four years and some reflections derived from the analysis are presented. Resumen Los cambios tecnológicos de los últimos años han permitido la emergencia, la consolidación y –en algunos casos– el dominio de los negocios de plataformas. El crecimiento de este tipo de empresas ha sido muy veloz desde mediados de la década del noventa, propiciado por transformaciones tecnológicas y de conexión digital. Sin embargo, no todos los usos de las plataformas en internet son por parte de empresas, ni todas las empresas tienen una organización capitalista. Existen desarrollos digitales y plataformas cuyo modo es social solidario y se apoyan en la tradición del código abierto, el espacio compartido, el intercambio no lucrativo y el trabajo permanente de socialización de lo que se va generando como conocimiento. En este trabajo realizamos, en primer término, una revisión de la literatura del campo que denominamos Economía de Plataformas para situar el concepto de opacidad epistémica y explicar el poder de dominación que este modo construye. Pondremos a discusión la distinción entre dos posiciones. Una, que denominamos plataformas comerciales de lucro, con opacidad epistémica y dominación social, y otra, que llamamos de nitidez epistémica, en tanto son espacios públicos de acceso libre y gratuito para producir y compartir el común social y solidariamente.

Abstract Technological changes in recent years have allowed the emergence, consolidation and -in some cases- dominance of platform businesses. The growth of this type of companies has been very fast since the mid-nineties, fostered by technological transformations and digital connection. However, not all uses of internet platforms are performed by companies, nor all companies have a capitalist organization. There are social-in-solidarity digital developments and platforms, based on open source, shared space, non-profit exchange, and a permanent work of socializing of what is being generated as knowledge. In this paper, we first present a literature review of the field we call Platform Economy, to position the concept of epistemic opacity and explain the power of domination built by this mode. We will discuss the differences between two positions. One, which we call commercial platforms for profit with epistemic opacity and social domination, and another, which we call epistemic transparency as they are free and open access public spaces to produce and share the capital stock jointly and severally.

Resumen Las condiciones de generación de conocimiento se modifican en un contexto de transdisciplinariedad creciente de la universidad. Desde el grupo de investigación/cuerpo académico “Investigación y creación en arte audiovisual y escénico” y el proyecto “Memoria audiovisual de mujeres jaliscienses en el cine y la danza contemporánea de la Universidad de Guadalajara” de la Universidad de Guadalajara (México), se ha apostado por el audiovisual performativo para componer un proyecto de investigación artística e investigación-creación, donde la producción en comunicación audiovisual se hibrida con otros ámbitos como los de las artes escénicas y dancísticas. En el texto se describe un proceso de creación audiovisual y escénico transdisciplinar y en colaboración entre académicos de España y México, que finalizó con el estreno de la obra Memory dance (GDL 925).

Abstract The conditions for the generation of knowledge are modified in a context of increasing transdisciplinarity in the university. From the research group/academic team "Research and creation in audiovisual and stage art" and the project "Audiovisual memory of Jalisco women in contemporary cinema and dance at the University of Guadalajara", of the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) has chosen performative audiovisual, to compose an artistic research and research-creation project, where production in audiovisual communication is hybridized with other fields such as performing arts and dance. The text describes a transdisciplinary audiovisual and stage creation process in collaboration between academics from Spain and Mexico, which ended with the premiere of the work Memory dance (GDL 925).

Resumen: El principal objetivo de este estudio es describir una estrategia de evaluación auténtica como herramienta para evaluar el logro de competencias en la formación de psicólogos. Se realiza una evaluación de ciclo online en 14 estudiantes de una universidad chilena, usando un análisis de caso validado por jueces expertos. Los resultados muestran el logro de dos competencias, diagnóstico e intervención en psicología, con un mejor desempeño en la competencia de intervención. Los resultados del test de entrada y salida muestran que la mayoría (85.7%) de los estudiantes tenía expectativas favorables sobre su desempeño. Se sugiere que se deben reforzar contenidos asociados a la psicología del desarrollo, tales como el desarrollo cognitivo y afectivo. Se concluye que la carrera de psicología y las universidades deben avanzar en la evaluación de competencias por medio de evaluaciones auténticas, además del logro progresivo del perfil de egreso, a fin de asegurar la calidad en la enseñanza impartida.

Abstract: The primary purpose of this study is to describe an authentic assessment strategy, as a tool, to examine the achievement of competencies in the training of psychologists. An online cycle assessment is conducted to survey 14 students from a Chilean university by using a case analysis validated by expert judges. The results show the achievement of two competencies, diagnosis and intervention in psychology, having best performance in intervention. The entry and exit tests reveal that the majority (87.6%) of students have favorable expectations on their performances. The results show that content associated with developmental psychology, such as cognitive and affective development, should be reinforced. It is concluded that psychology degree programs and universities should improve the evaluation of competencies through authentic assessments, in addition to examining progressive achievements of graduate profiles, to accomplish high teaching quality standards.

Abstract Introduction: in recent years asthma hospitalization rate in Chilean children has doubled. Numerous studies have shown an association between hypovitaminosis D and frequent, severe asthmatic exacerbations in children. Objective: to estimate the risk of vitamin D (vitD) deficiency and insufficiency in hospitalized asthmatic children compared with patients who are monitored on an outpatient basis and do not have records of hospitalization in one year. Material and methods: an observational, analytic, and case-control study carried out in one calendar year including asthmatic children between 5 and 15 years of age. This study registered: sociodemographic and clinical data, asthma control test, severity score of hospitalization and measurements of vitD blood levels. Associations between variables were analyzed using the t-test and chi-squared test. The risk for hypovitaminosis D and deficiency was calculated through logistic regression. The data was fed into the Stata 14 software. Results: a total of 117 patients, 9 ± 2.7 years old, were admitted, 64 % were male and 51 % presented with malnutrition by excess. Six out of ten children presented moderate asthma and 55 % had a poor control of their pathology; 73.5 % presented hypovitaminosis D (insufficiency and deficiency), hospitalized patients had 2.8 times more risk of presenting vitD deficiency, adjusted according to seasonality and age (95 %CI, 1.07-7.5, p < 0.05) without being associated with a higher severity score of hospitalization. Conclusion: most of the asthmatic children in the sample presented with hypovitaminosis D, with a higher percentage of deficiency in hospitalized patients, which is not associated with greater severity of hospitalization.

Resumen Introducción: la tasa de hospitalización por asma se ha duplicado en los últimos años en Chile. Numerosos estudios demuestran una asociación entre la hipovitaminosis D y la presencia de exacerbaciones frecuentes y severas. Objetivo: comparar el riesgo de déficit e insuficiencia de vitamina D (vitD) en niños asmáticos que se hospitalizan en relación con los que se tratan ambulatoriamente. Material y métodos: estudio observacional, analítico, de casos y controles realizado durante 1 año calendario. Se incluyó a pacientes asmáticos de 5 a 15 años. Se registraron datos sociodemográficos, clínicos, nivel de control de asma, puntaje de severidad de hospitalización y se midió la concentración sanguínea de vitD. Se analizó la asociación entre las variables mediante la prueba de la t y la del chi cuadrado. Mediante regresión logística se calculó el riesgo de hipovitaminosis D y déficit de vitD en los sujetos. Los datos se analizaron con el software Stata 14. Resultados: se enrolaron 117 pacientes de 9 ± 2,7 años, 64 % de varones y 51 % con malnutrición por exceso. Seis de cada diez niños presentaban asma moderada y el 55 % tenían mal control de su enfermedad. El 73,5 % de los sujetos presentaban hipovitaminosis D (déficit o insuficiencia). Los hospitalizados tuvieron 2,8 veces más riesgo de presentar déficit de vitD (IC 95 %: 1,07-7,5), ajustado según estacionalidad y edad, sin asociarse a mayor puntaje de severidad de la hospitalización. Conclusión: la mayoría de los niños asmáticos de la muestra presentan hipovitaminosis D, siendo mayor el porcentaje de déficit en los hospitalizados, lo que no se asocia a mayor severidad de la hospitalización.

Abstract The objective of this study was to identify in Angus and Brangus breed animals with extreme temperament, measured as exit velocity, genomic regions and candidate genes associated with bovine temperament. The population was genotyped with the Genomic Profiler HD 150K chip and after the genome-wide association analysis, the SNPs rs133956611 (P=2.65 E-06) and rs81144933 (P=9.58 E-06) were associated with temperament. The mapping analysis of the regions close to the SNP rs81144933 identified the SNCA (alpha-synuclein) and MMRN1 (multimerin-1) genes at 222.8 and 435.9 Kb downstream respectively, while for the rs133956611 loci the gene GPRIN3 (GPRIN family-member-3) was identified at 245.7 Kb upstream, all three genes are located on the BTA6 chromosome. The analysis of SNCA protein-protein interactions allowed the identification of the genes APP (β-amyloid precursor protein), PARK7 (parkinsonism-associated-deglycase), UCHL1 (ubiquitin-C-terminal-hydrolase-L1), PARK2 (parkin-RBR- E3-ubiquitin-protein-ligase), and genes of the SLC family as candidates to be associated with bovine temperament. All these candidate genes and their interacting were resequenced, which allowed the discovery of new SNPs in the SNCA and APP genes. Of these, the SNPs located in introns 5, 8 and 11 of the APP gene affect splicing site motifs. These results indicate that SNCA and its interacting genes are candidates to be related to bovine temperament.

Resumen El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar en animales de raza Angus y Brangus con temperamento extremo, medido como velocidad de salida, regiones genómicas y genes candidatos asociados con el temperamento bovino. La población fue genotipada con el chip Genomic Profiler HD 150K y después del análisis de asociación del genoma completo, los SNP rs133956611 (P= 2.65 E-06) y rs81144933 (P= 9.58 E-06) se asociaron con el temperamento. El análisis de mapeo de las regiones cercanas al SNP rs81144933 identificó los genes SNCA (alfa-sinucleína) y MMRN1 (multimerin-1) a 222.8 y 435.9 Kb corriente abajo, respectivamente, mientras que para los loci rs133956611 se identificó el gen GPRIN3 (familia GPRIN- miembro 3) a 245.7 Kb corriente arriba, los tres genes se encuentran en el cromosoma BTA6. El análisis de las interacciones proteína-proteína de SNCA permitió la identificación de los genes APP (proteína precursora de β-amiloide), PARK7 (deglicasa asociada al parkinsonismo), UCHL1 (ubiquitina C-terminal hidrolasa L1), PARK2 (parkina-RBR-E3-ubiquitina-proteína-ligasa), y genes de la familia SLC como candidatos a estar asociados con el temperamento bovino. Todos estos genes candidatos y su interacción fueron resecuenciados, lo que permitió el descubrimiento de nuevos SNP en los genes SNCA y APP. De estos, los SNP localizados en los intrones 5, 8 y 11 del gen APP afectan a los motivos del sitio de empalme. Estos resultados indican que el SNCA y sus genes interactuantes son candidatos para estar relacionados con el temperamento bovino.

Abstract This study aimed to verify the impact of high-fat diet consumption for a prolonged period on oxidative stress, fetal growth, umbilical vascular system, and placental structures in pregnant goats. Twenty-two pregnant goats were grouped into the control diet (n= 11) and fat diet (n = 11). Flaxseed meal was added to the fat diet, replacing the corn grain of concentrate, from gestational day 100 to delivery date. Diets were isonitrogenous and isoenergetic, differing in fat content (2.8% vs. 6.3% dry matter). The fat group showed higher feed intake and total plasma lipid levels than the control group (P < 0.001). No difference was found in placentome, and umbilical vascular development. Fat diet-fed goats exhibited a lower systolic peak in the umbilical artery. At delivery, placental traits were similar with the exception of the cotyledon width (P = 0.0075), which was smaller in the fat group and cotyledon surface (P = 0.0047) for multiple pregnancy of fat diet. Cotyledonary epithelium showed more intense staining of lipid droplets and a greater area for lipofuscin staining in the fat group compared to control group (P < 0.001). The mean live weight of the kids was lower in the fat group in the first week after delivery than in control group. Thus, in goats, the continuous administration of a high-fat diet during pregnancy does not appear to modify the fetal-maternal vascular structures but has an impact on a part of the placental structure; therefore, its use must be carefully evaluated.

ABSTRACT In this research article, the service provision in a public company was evaluated through multivariate statistical control to determine the performance of its dimensions. For this purpose, the methodology used was: 1) characterization of the information associated with the quality dimensions provided, through consolidated databases recognized for their high level of quality, such as: Elsevier, Inderscience, among others; 2) calculation of Six Sigma metrics (DPMO, Z-level and performance), which will allow from a monthly average, to evaluate the quality of the service provided by the company in a timely and periodic manner in the 12 periods of 2019; 3) Evaluation of the performance of the service dimensions in a global and comprehensive manner, through multivariate analysis. Finally, the quality of the company’s service is presented. Thus, allowing the control and continuous improvement of the processes, through its prompt replanting.

Abstract Objectives The present study aimed to evaluate the measurement invariance of a general measure of the perception of governmental responses to COVID-|19 (COVID-SCORE-10) in the general population of 13 Latin American countries. Methods A total of 5780 individuals from 13 Latin American and Caribbean countries selected by non-probabilistic snowball sampling participated. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed and the alignment method was used to evaluate invariance. Additionally, a graded response model was used for the assessment of item characteristics. Results The results indicate that there is approximate measurement invariance of the COVID-SCORE-10 among the participating countries. Furthermore, IRT results suggest that the COVID-SCORE-10 measures with good psychometric ability a broad spectrum of the construct assessed, especially around average levels. Comparison of COVID-SCORE-10 scores indicated that participants from Cuba, Uruguay and El Salvador had the most positive perceptions of government actions to address the pandemic. Thus, the underlying construct of perception of government actions was equivalent in all countries. Conclusion The results show the importance of initially establishing the fundamental measurement properties and MI before inferring the cross-cultural universality of the construct to be measured.

RESUMEN INTRODUCCIÓN: Los pacientes con compromiso del sistema inmune pueden desarrollar una enfermedad neurológica incapacitante e incluso mortal, como lo es la leucoencefalopatía multifocal progresiva (LMP) producida por el virus de John Cunningham (JC). PRESENTACIÓN DEL CASO: Se presenta el caso de un hombre de 26 años con diagnóstico reciente de infección por virus de la inmunodeficiencia humana (VIH) que presentó síntomas constitucionales, déficit neurológico progresivo por hemiparesia espástica izquierda, disminución de la agudeza visual y cambios comportamentales. En las imágenes de resonancia magnética (IRM) cerebral contrastada se encontró afectación subcortical difusa de la sustancia blanca con compromiso de las fibras en U que, correlacionado con una prueba de reacción en cadena de la polimerasa (PCR) para virus JC en LCR, confirmó el diagnóstico de LMP. DISCUSIÓN: La LMP puede manifestarse por medio de síntomas cognitivos usualmente imperceptibles para el clínico, pero también como déficit sensorio-motor y visual que se puede corroborar en las IRM al identificar las lesiones típicas en la sustancia blanca, o bien por medio de detección del virus por PCR en líquido cefalorraquídeo. El manejo específico de la causa que desencadenó la inmunosupresión sigue siendo el pilar de tratamiento. CONCLUSIÓN: La mínima sospecha diagnóstica en aquellos pacientes con factores de riesgo y manifestaciones clínicas concordantes con la enfermedad debe llevar a que se confirme el diagnóstico y que se inicie prontamente el manejo terapéutico en búsqueda de restablecer la respuesta inmune.

ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Patients with immunocompromised or weakened immune system can develop a disabling and even life-threatening neurological disorder such as progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML) caused by John Cunningham (JC) virus. CASE PRESENTATION: We present the case of a 26-year-old man with a recent diagnosis of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection who presented constitutional symptoms, progressive neurological deficit due to left spastic hemiparesis with decreased visual acuity and behavioral changes. The brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) showed diffuse subcortical involvement of the white matter including the U-fibers, which, correlated with a detection of JC virus DNA by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) cerebrospinal fluid, confirmed the diagnosis of PML. DISCUSSION: PML can range from subtle cognitive impairment imperceptible to the clinician to sensory-motor deficits and visual disturbances that can be corroborated in MRI by identifying the typical lesions in the white matter or by detecting the virus by PCR in cerebrospinal fluid. The specific management of the cause that triggered the immunosuppression continues to be the mainstay of treatment. CONCLUSION: At the minimum diagnostic suspicion in patients with risk factors and clinical manifestations consistent with the disease should proceed to confirm the diagnosis and promptly immune reconstitution.
