Resumo Neste trabalho objetivou-se elaborar um Índice de Qualidade das Águas (IQA) para o setor florestal. Para isso, monitoraram-se as características físicas e químicas da água: Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, P, S, Zn, CI, CO, Clor, Nitr, Sulf, Fosf, Amô, Glif, Alca, CE, Cor, DQO, DC, DC, OD, SS, SD, Sulfl, Temp, Turb e pH, em quatro microbacias hidrográficas (MBs) sob atividades do manejo florestal no município de Aracruz - ES, de janeiro a junho de 2012. As técnicas de estatística multivariadas, Análise de Componentes Principais (ACP) e Análise Fatorial (AF), indicaram que as variáveis mais representativas da variação da qualidade das águas para compor um IQA são: CE, Cor, Clor, Nitr, Mg, Alca, Na, Na, CI, CO, Fe, pH e SS, responsáveis por uma variância total de 61,77% dos dados após a rotação dos fatores pelo método Varimax normatizado. As variáveis relacionadas aos sais dissolvidos na água assumiram maiores pesos, em consequência da proximidade do mar. O IQA proposto demonstrou ser eficiente para avaliar a qualidade das águas das MBs monitoradas, ao invés de examinar as variáveis independentemente.

Abstract This work aimed to develop a Water Quality Index (WQI) for the forestry sector. Therefore, to achieve this purpose, the physical and chemical characteristics of the water were monitored: Ca, Cu, Fe, K, Mg, Na, P, S, Zn, IC, OC, Chlor, Nitr, Sulf, Phosp, Ammo, Glyph, Alka, EC, Color, COD, CH, MH, DO, SS, DS, Sulfl, Temp, Turb and pH in four micro-watersheds (MW) under activities of forest management in the city of Aracruz, Espírito Santo, Southeast of Brazil, from January to June, 2012. The multivariate statistical analyses, the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and the Factor Analysis (FA) indicated that the most significant variables in the variation of water quality to compose a WQI were: EC, Color, Chlor, Nitr, Mg, Alka, Na, IC, OC, Fe, pH and SS, responsible for a total variance of 61.77% of the data after the rotation of the factors using the normalized Varimax method. Variables related to the dissolved salts in water assumed higher weights due to the proximity with the sea. The proposed WQI proved itself to be efficient when evaluating the water quality of the monitored micro-watersheds, instead examining the variables independently.

ABSTRACT The use of height-diameter models have important applications in the management of eucalyptus plantations. The aim of this paper is to provide adequate height models based on the diameter and stand variables that could be easily used and applied to plantation’s management. The data was based on tests located in Espírito Santo and Bahia. A total of 312 plots, including 35 different treatments (different initial planting densities, number and severity of thinning operations, fertilization regimes, among others), and four different clones. This resulted in 2,407 conditions for 85,608 tree measurements. The constructed equations were based on mixed-effect models, in order to accommodate possible autocorrelations, to address variations between sites and to obtain locally calibrated estimates. Among the different model structures and combination of variables tested and presented, the best model showed a coefficient of determination of 0.953 and 0.988, for the fixed and fixed+random parts, respectively. The model included a random factor for measurements-within-tree and tree-within-plot. The bias of the fixed part was 0.208 cm (0.0659%). We believe the models in this study can have broad applications in management and inventory methods applied to plantations.

RESUMO O presente trabalho objetivou identificar as principais variáveis afetadas por fatores naturais e, ou, antrópicos, que influenciam a qualidade da água superficial em microbacias hidrográficas, manejadas para produção de madeira de eucalipto. A qualidade da água foi monitorada em quatro microbacias localizadas no município de Aracruz, norte do ES, Brasil. Para tanto, analisaram-se as características físicas e químicas, bem como a potencial presença na água de agrotóxicos utilizados no manejo florestal. As coletas foram realizadas após as atividades silviculturais e/ou ocorrência de chuvas entre os meses de janeiro e junho de 2012. Foram utilizadas técnicas de componentes principais e análise fatorial para determinar as variáveis mais sensíveis e correlacionadas com as atividades silviculturais e com as condições edafoclimáticas das microbacias. De forma geral, 4 componentes explicaram 73,1% da variância total. Os componentes foram correlacionados com as variáveis analisadas e definidos como fatores: mineral, sólido, acidez e pedológico. Estes fatores explicaram 31,6; 18,5; 15,6; e 7,4% da variância total dos dados e estão diretamente relacionados com a salinidade, a presença de sólidos suspensos, a acidez e o teor de carbono inorgânico do solo, respectivamente. Não foi observada presença dos agrotóxicos sulfluramida (inseticida) e glifosato (herbicida) em todas as avaliações realizadas. Em geral, é possível reduzir de 30 para 12 as variáveis que devem ser monitoradas para predição da qualidade da água, mantendo pelo menos 70% da precisão das estimativas.

ABSTRACT This work aimed to identify the main variables affected by natural factors and, or anthropic, which influence the quality of surface water in watersheds, managed for eucalyptus wood production. Water quality was monitored in four watersheds located in Aracruz, northern ES state, Brazil. The physical and chemical characteristics of the water and the potential presence of pesticides used in forest management were evaluated. Samples were collected after the silvicultural activities and, or, rainfall between the months of January to June 2012. Principal component and factor analysis techniques were used to determine the water variables most sensitive and correlated with forestry activities, soil and climatic conditions of the study watersheds. It was possible to obtain four components that explained 73.1% of the total variance. The components were correlated with the variables and defined as factors mineral, solid, acidity, and pedological. These factors explained 31.6; 18.5; 15.6; and 7.4% of the total variance of the data which are directly related to salinity, the presence of suspended solids, acidity and the inorganic carbon content of the soil, respectively. Sulfluramid (insecticide) and glyphosate (herbicide) were not found. In general, it is possible to reduce from 30 to 12 variables that should be monitored for prediction of water quality, maintaining at least 70% of the precision of the estimates. The evaluation of these key variables allows establishing an adequate monitoring system of water quality considering the eucalyptus forestry activities.

RESUMO Plantios com idade inicial de desenvolvimento apresentam descontinuidade na cobertura do solo, tendendo a apresentar maior exposição do dossel ao vento e à radiação solar, o que altera as interações solo-plantaatmosfera. O objetivo deste trabalho foi estudar os componentes dos balanços hídricos e de energia ao longo do primeiro ano de desenvolvimento do eucalipto na região da planície costeira brasileira. O sítio experimental está localizado em uma área pertencente à empresa Fibria Celulose no município de Aracruz- ES. O espaçamento entre as árvores do plantio de eucalipto da área estudada foi de 3 x 3 m e a data do plantio foi em 15/08/2004. O período de estudo foi compreendido entre a data do plantio até a cultura ter completado 19 meses de idade. Verificou-se maior disponibilidade de energia no período de verão e que a precipitação influenciou diretamente na partição do balanço de energia, sendo que, durante todo o período estudado, a fração da energia disponível destinada à evapotranspiração foi sempre maior que a fração destinada ao aquecimento do sistema solo-planta-atmosfera, apresentando uma relação de 59,57% de λE/R. Observou-se também que o balanço hídrico com a evapotranspiração modelada apresentou boa correspondência ao comportamento da umidade observada, apresentando um coeficiente de determinação de 0,94. Os maiores portes das árvores, maiores índices de área foliar e sistema radicular, favoreceu a evapotranspiração, mostrando que a maior parte da energia disponível foi utilizada para mudança de fase da água.

ABSTRACT Eucalyptus plots with initial development ages presented discontinuity in soil cover, resulting in greater exposure of the leaves to wind and solar radiation, which alters soil-plant-atmosphere interactions. The objective of this study was to study the components of the water and energy balances along the first year of eucalyptus development in the Brazilian coastal plain region. The experimental site is located in an area belonging to the company Fibria in the municipality of Aracruz, Espírito Santo state, Brazil. The space between the planted eucalyptus trees in the area studied was 3 x 3 m and the data of planting was on August 15th, 2004. The period of study lasted from the planting date until the plot reached an age of 19 months. It was verified that there was a greater availability of energy during the summer and the precipitation directly influenced the energy balance where during the period of study the energy available necessary for evapotranspiration was always greater than the fraction necessary for heating the soil-plant atmosphere system, presenting a λE/R ratio of 59.57%. It was also observed that the water balance with the modeled evapotranspiration showed a good correspondence with the observed moisture content, presenting a determination coefficient of 0,94. In the majority of trees, greater indices of leaf and root system areas favored evapotranspiration, indicating that most energy available was utilized for changing the phase of water.

Com o objetivo de verificar os efeitos da enxertia na produção e qualidade de tomateiros cultivados em ambiente protegido, conduziu-se um experimento em Viçosa, Minas Gerais (MG). Seis tratamentos foram avaliados no delineamento em blocos casualizados, com três repetições, resultantes da combinação de duas cultivares de tomate 'Débora' e 'Sta. Clara', enxertadas sobre os porta-enxertos 'Anchor T' e 'BGH 3472', além das duas cultivares de pés francos. A enxertia foi realizada por encostia. Os tratamentos enxertados com 'BGH 3472' e os pés francos Débora e Sta. Clara apresentaram as maiores produtividades comerciais. Não houve variação no teor de SST dos frutos, e o pH da polpa dos frutos foi menor nas combinações 'Anchor T'/Sta. Clara e 'BGH 3472'/Débora. Observou-se maior ATT nos frutos de Débora e menor nos frutos de Sta. Clara. A relação SST/ATT foi maior nos frutos da combinação 'Anchor T'/Sta. Clara, comparados aos frutos das combinações 'BGH 3472'/Débora e 'Anchor T'/Débora.

In order to check the effects of grafting in the production and quality of tomato grown in unheated greenhouse, an experiment was conducted in Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, Brazil. Six treatments were evaluated in randomized block design with three replications, resulting from the combination of two tomato cultivars Débora and Sta. Clara, grafted on two rootstocks 'Anchor T' and 'BGH 3472' in addition of the two ungrafted cultivars. The grafting method utilized was used. The treatments with the rootstock 'BGH 3472' and the cultivars 'Débora' and 'Sta. Clara' presented greatest commercial yields. There was no change in the content of SST. Fruit pH was smaller at the combinations 'Anchor T'/Sta.Clara and 'BGH 3472'/Débora Clara. It was observed greater ATT in the pulp of the fruits of Débora and smaller in the fruits of Sta. Clara. SST/ATT ratio was greater in fruits of the combination 'Anchor T'/Sta.Clara when compared with the fruits of the combinations between BGH 3472/Débora and BGH and 'Anchor T'/Débora.

Procurou-se identificar e quantificar os componentes de perdas de produção do tomateiro em ambiente protegido, no período de verão-outono, evidenciando o componente crítico e o fator-chave de perdas da cultura, mediante a utilização da tabela de vida das culturas. O trabalho foi realizado na Horta de Pesquisa da UFV, de janeiro a junho de 2001, sob delineamento de blocos casualizados, com dois tratamentos (cultivar Santa Clara I 5300 e híbrido Débora Plus) e cinco repetições. Durante o ciclo de cultivo, foram avaliados o número de plantas mortas e as causas de morte, o número de flores e frutos/planta. Nas colheitas, os frutos sadios foram contados, pesados e classificados, sendo identificadas as causas de perda dos frutos danificados. Não houve diferença significativa entre produtividades comerciais de 'Sta. Clara' (40,18 t/ha) e 'Débora Plus' (54,98 t/ha). A produtividade classificada entre frutos graúdos A ('Sta. Clara': 24,39 t/ha; 'Débora Plus': 32,32 t/ha) também não foram diferentes entre si. A produtividade de frutos médios extra ('Sta. Clara': 7,60 t/ha; 'Débora Plus': 10,77 t/ha) e a soma de frutos médios especiais com pequenos ('Sta. Clara': 8,19 t/ha; 'Débora Plus': 11,90 t/ha) foram baixas. Observou-se maior influência da perda de frutos (r = 0,89) (P<0,01) sobre as perdas totais sendo, consequentemente, frutos o componente crítico de perdas da cultura. Entre os vários fatores de perda dentro do componente crítico de produção, podridão apical foi o que mais influenciou as perdas totais (r = 0,97) (P<0,01), sendo considerado o fator-chave de perdas da cultura nessas condições.

The tomato production components of loss were identified and quantified in unheated greenhouse, in the summer-autumn period, evidencing the tomato critical production component and the loss key-factor, using the methodology of the crop life table. The experiment was conducted at the Universidade Federal de Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, Brazil, from January to June 2001 and consisted of two treatments (cultivar Santa Clara I 5300 and hybrid Débora Plus) in a randomized complete block design with 5 replications. During the tomato cycle, the number of dead plants, its causes and the number of flowers and fruits/plant were evaluated. At harvest, the healthy fruits were counted, weighted and classified; the causes of fruit damage were identified and the loss quantified. There was no significant difference between commercial yield of 'Sta. Clara' (40.18 t/ha) and 'Débora Plus' (54.98 t/ha). The classified yields between 'graúdos A' fruits ('Sta. Clara': 24.39 t/ha; 'Débora Plus': 32.32 t/ha) were not different either. The yield of 'médio extra' fruits ('Sta. Clara': 7.60 t/ha; 'Débora Plus': 10.77 t/ha) and the sum of 'médio especial' with 'pequenos' fruits ('Sta. Clara': 8.19 t/ha; 'Débora Plus': 11.90 t/ha) were low. Total losses were more influenced by fruits (r = 0.89) (P<0.01) than by any other production components. Consequently, fruits were considered the critical production component of tomato yield. Total fruit losses were more influenced by blossom-end rot (r = 0.97) (P<0.01) than by any other loss factors, being considered the loss key-factor in those conditions.
