TEMA: habilidades de consciência fonológicas de crianças com histórico de desordens fonoaudiológicas. OBJETIVO: comparar o desempenho das habilidades em consciência fonológica de um grupo de sujeitos com histórico de transtorno fonológico, após sua superação, através de terapia fonológica com indivíduos em desenvolvimento fonológico típico. MÉTODO: participaram deste estudo dezoito sujeitos, nove do grupo estudo e nove do grupo controle. Os dois grupos foram avaliados quanto às habilidades em consciência fonológica por meio do Instrumento de Avaliação Seqüencial Confias. RESULTADO: os grupos apresentaram diferenças estatisticamente significativas em seus desempenhos nas atividades silábicas de identificação de rima, produção de rima, exclusão de sílabas, no total das atividades envolvendo sílabas e nas atividades fonêmicas de exclusão, segmentação e transposição de fonemas, no total das atividades fonêmicas e, também, no total das atividades de consciência fonológica. O grupo controle obteve melhor desempenho em todas as atividades. CONCLUSÃO: mesmo após a intervenção fonológica o grupo estudo apresentou desempenho inferior nas habilidades de consciência fonológica.

BACKGROUND: phonological awareness abilities of children with a history of speech-language disorders. AIM: to compare the phonological awareness abilities of individuals who recovered from phonological disorders after having gone through speech-language treatment with that of individuals with typical phonological development. METHOD: participants of this study were eighteen individuals, nine in the experimental group and nine in the control group. Both groups had their phonological awareness abilities evaluated through the Metalinguistic Sequential Evaluation Instrument Confias. RESULTS: significant statistical differences were observed between the groups in terms of the following performances: rhyme identification, rhyme production, syllable exclusion, on all of the activities involving syllables and on the activities involving phoneme exclusion, phoneme segmentation, and phoneme transposition, on all of the activities involving phonemes and also on all of the activities involving phonological awareness. The control group presented a better performance in all of the activities. CONCLUSIONS: even after speech therapy the experimental group presented a worse performance in terms of the phonological awareness abilities.

OBJETIVO: Realizar um acompanhamento tardio do desempenho em habilidades de linguagem de um grupo de estudo com histórico de desvio fonológico (após ter realizado terapia fonológica), comparando-o com um grupo controle. MÉTODOS: Dezoito sujeitos, nove do grupo de estudo e nove do controle, participaram do estudo e foram avaliados quanto à linguagem escrita a partir da aplicação de atividades de compreensão de texto, complementação de sentenças, formação de sentenças, sequencialização de parágrafos e combinação de sentenças que fazem parte do Exame de Linguagem TIPITI. RESULTADOS: Os resultados da pesquisa mostraram correlações estatísticas significantes, positivas e fortes, nas habilidades de linguagem, entre os grupos estudados e, também, diferenças estatisticamente significantes entre o grupo experimental e o grupo controle, na análise do teste Kruskal-Wallis. CONCLUSÃO: Verificou-se que, mesmo após a realização de terapia fonológica e a superação dos desvios, o grupo de estudo apresentou desempenho inferior ao do grupo controle.

PURPOSE: To carry out a late follow-up of the performance on language abilities of a study group with history of phonological disorders (after speech therapy), compared to a control group with normal phonological development. METHODS: Eighteen subjects, nine from the study group and nine from the control group, participated in the study and were evaluated on written language, carrying out tasks of text comprehension, sentences complementation, sentences formation, paragraph continuation, and sentences combination, which are part of the TIPITI Language Assessment. RESULTS: The results showed positive and strong statistically significant correlation between the groups regarding the language abilities. Statistically significant differences were also found between study and control groups on the Kruskal-Wallis test. CONCLUSION: It was verified that, even after speech therapy and overcoming speech disorders, the study group showed lower performance on language tasks when compared to the control group.

OBJETIVO: verificar a correlação entre as habilidades de consciência fonológica e escrita sob ditado de sujeitos que apresentaram desvio fonológico após receberem alta do tratamento fonoterápico. MÉTODOS: esses sujeitos foram avaliados após obterem alta do Serviço de Atendimento Fonoaudiológico da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Para avaliar a consciência fonológica foi aplicado o Instrumento de Avaliação Seqüencial - CONFIAS. A escrita foi avaliada a partir da realização da escrita sob ditado de palavras proposto no Exame de Avaliação da Linguagem -TIPITI. RESULTADOS: de acordo com a análise estatística "r de Pearson" foram observadas as correlações: de média para forte entre escrita sob ditado e consciência de sílaba, escrita sob ditado e consciência fonológica total, sílaba e consciência fonológica total e fonema e consciência fonológica total. A única correlação significativa observada foi entre fonema e consciência fonológica total. CONCLUSÃO: salienta-se, então, a importância de estimular as habilidades em consciência fonológica, não somente em crianças na fase pré-escolar, mas principalmente em crianças com desvio fonológico, pois estas crianças são consideradas de risco para a presença de futuras dificuldades no desenvolvimento da linguagem.

PURPOSE: to check the relationship between phonological awareness and writing of patients with diagnostic of phonological disorders after treatment conclusion. METHODS: these patients were evaluated after treatment conclusion at Speech Therapy Service of Federal University of Santa Maria. For evaluating phonological awareness we applied an assessment method referred to as called "Sequential Evaluation Instrument - CONFIAS". Writing was evaluated after dictation of some words proposed by Language Evaluation Exam - TIPITI. RESULTS: the following correlations were detected in parallel of statistical analyze "r of Pearson": medium from strong between writing under dictation and syllable awareness, writing under dictation and total phonological awareness, syllable and total phonological awareness and phoneme and total phonological awareness. The only significant correlation was between phoneme and total phonological awareness. CONCLUSION: it is very important consequently to stimulate the abilities in phonological awareness, not only for children at elementary school but mainly in children with phonological disorders. These children are considered under risk for presence of future impairments in language development.
