Abstract Paper aims The objective was to propose a Social Skills Training (SST) program integrated with project-based learning (PjBL) and to describe the student’s perception. Originality Social skills are recognized for promoting peer collaboration and are important requirements in professional environment. However, there are no proposals on how to integrate SST in PjBL. Research method The same PjBL was applied to students from different classes and at the same Production Engineering course. The first in 2017 without the SST, and in 2018, with the SST conducted by a psychologist. A survey with open-ended questions compiled students' perceptions in both applications. Main findings The qualitatively analyzed students' responses indicated changes regarding the perceived benefits of the PjBL over the years and students with SST cited the benefit of social interaction and teamwork. Implications for theory and practice The study points out that SST can be positive and brings effects in professional teams.

Abstract This paper aimed to verify if terminals with productive efficiency also have pure technical efficiency, using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) technique. The research approach was the qualitative-quantitative or mixed, with exploratory purpose; the research method defined was the case study (multicases); data were collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire and non-probability for convenience sampling. While the application of Charnes, Cooper and Rhodes (CCR) model observed that only three (4, 7 and 11), of the twelve analyzed Decision Making Units (DMUs) have total technical efficiency, through Banker, Charnes and Cooper (BCC) model, it was possible to observe that these terminals were the only ones with pure technical efficiency. The three inefficient DMUs (1, 2 and 12) showed pure technical efficiency, suggesting that these terminals might present probable scale operations’ inefficiency, aspect not addressed in this paper.

Este trabalho apresenta os resultados da aplicação de um método multicritério de tomada de decisão - Analytic Hierarchy Process- AHP, visando identificar o melhor local de instalação de uma Unidade de Pronto Atendimento – UPA 24 h, com a participação de profissionais ligados à gestão pública de um município do interior do Estado de São Paulo. Para a consecução da pesquisa, houve a condução de reuniões junto aos participantes no intuito de 1) apresentar o método AHP; 2) construir conjuntamente com os membros do grupo os critérios, subcritérios e identificar as alternativas de localização; 3) validar o modelo gerado; e 4) aplicar os questionários para obtenção do ranqueamento das alternativas de localização. A aplicação do método AHP permitiu hierarquizar os locais candidatos, apresentando o “Local 1” como o mais bem ranqueado, servindo de subsídio para o gestor municipal tomar a decisão para a instalação da UPA 24 h.

This paper presents the results of applying a multicriteria decision-making method - Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to identify the best location to install an Emergency Unit (UPA 24h), with the participation of professionals involved in the public management of a municipality in the state of Sao Paulo. To this end, workshops with participants were conducted in order to 1) present the AHP; 2) construct, together with the members of the group, the criteria and sub-criteria, and identify alternative locations; 3) validate the model generated; and 4) apply questionnaires to obtain the ranking of alternative locations. The application of AHP to the prioritization of candidate sites, presenting “Site 1” as the best ranked location, served as a subsidy for the municipal manager to make the decision for the installation of the Emergency Unit (UPA 24h).

Hospitais são fundamentais para a sociedade devido à sua função socioeconômica e, principalmente, por promover a saúde em todos os sentidos. Mas possuem várias carências de gestão administrativa e qualidade com maior valor agregado, entre outras. Um dos temas que tem se sobressaído na dinâmica da gestão empresarial e que busca agregar valor e vantagens competitivas sustentáveis é a logística, porém esta é uma área relativamente inexplorada. Nesse contexto, o objetivo do estudo é identificar o estágio da logística e seu arranjo organizacional em uma organização hospitalar. Para tanto, utilizou-se uma abordagem qualitativa-exploratória, seguida de revisão de literatura, que visa a estruturação do conhecimento da logística, e estudo de caso. A coleta de dados foi realizada por pesquisa documental e entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os resultados permitiram apurar modificações na estrutura organizacional do hospital, contemplando a logística, e identificar que a instituição encontra-se no estágio 2, além de ressaltar as barreiras e os facilitadores do processo de adaptação.

Hospitals are fundamental to society due to their socioeconomic function, especially, for promoting health in all senses. However, they face a shortage of administrative management, aggregated values with quality, and so on. One of the issues that stands out in the business management dynamics, that seeks to add sustainable competitive advantages and values, is the logistics, despite being a relatively unexplored area. In this context, the objective of this study was to identify the stage of logistics and its organizational arrangement in a hospital organization. To this end, an exploratory-qualitative approach followed by a bibliographical one and a case study were used, aiming at structuring the knowledge of logistics. Data collection was performed through documentary research and semi-structured interviews. The results enabled to determine changes in the organizational structure of the hospital, contemplating the logistics dimension, and to identify that it reaches Stage 2 and it also highlights the barriers and facilitators of the adaptation process.

Este artigo apresenta os resultados de um levantamento sobre o desempenho logístico das PMEs da indústria de bens de capital. O desempenho logístico foi avaliado com base no grau de concordância das empresas frente às afirmações acerca das dimensões do desempenho logístico identificadas na literatura. Os resultados indicaram uma concordância maior das empresas frente a essas afirmações. Nas análises comparativas, foi observado que as médias de desempenho das PMEs pesquisadas distanciaram-se significativamente do padrão de excelência em logística. Adicionalmente, foram constatadas diferenças entre as médias de desempenho logístico nas comparações por segmento, porte e origem de capital das PMEs. Entre as implicações práticas e teóricas, destacam-se a necessidade de criação de parcerias entre as PMEs nacionais e estrangeiras e a oportunidade de se sistematizar as práticas de excelência em logística do setor, visando a sua transferência para as empresas de menor desempenho logístico.

This paper presents the results of a survey research made on the logistics performance of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the capital goods industry. Performance was evaluated by means of the degree of concordance between companies and the logistics performance perspectives found in the literature. The results showed a great concordance of companies regarding such perspectives. After the comparative analysis, a substantial gap was found between the performance mean of SMEs and the logistics excellence reference. Further gaps were also identified in different segments, company size and capital source. Several practical and theoretical implications can be pointed out for these results, such as the need of partnerships among national and foreign companies and the systematization of best practices for this sector, which should be transferred to the SMEs that present lower logistics performance.

Além do fato do programa Seis Sigma e a logística estarem em evidência no ambiente organizacional, soma-se a importância de se obter sucesso na implantação do programa, caracterizando como um fator crítico o alinhamento da estratégia dos projetos de melhoria. Sendo assim, este artigo propõe a sistematização do alinhamento da estratégia com o processo de seleção de projetos Seis Sigma. Dessa forma, esta pesquisa está estruturada, primeiramente, com uma breve descrição dos modelos conceituais utilizados e sobre operadores logísticos, os quais são os casos desta pesquisa. Com o embasamento teórico, é proposta uma sistematização conceitual do alinhamento da estratégia do processo de seleção de projetos Seis Sigma detalhado em um passo a passo. Com o objetivo de analisar a proposta conceitual, realizaram-se três estudos de casos em operadores logísticos. Podem-se notar a importância do processo de seleção de projetos Seis Sigma e seu alinhamento com a estratégia, bem como a validação da sistematização proposta.

Besides being in evidence in the organizational environment, the Six Sigma programs and logistics' implementation has also been achieving success pointing out the importance of the strategy alignment of project improvements. Therefore, an analysis of the strategy alignment process with Six Sigma projects is necessary. Hence, this paper proposes a systematization of the alignment of the organizational strategy with the process of selecting Six Sigma projects. This study includes a brief description of the conceptual models used and the logistics operators. Based on theoretical considerations, a conceptual systematization of the alignment of the organizational strategy with a detailed process of selecting Six Sigma projects is proposed. Aiming at analyzing the conceptual proposal, three case studies in logistics operators were carried out. It can be said that the alignment of the process of selecting Six Sigma projects with the organizational strategy proved important and the systematization proposed proved efficient.
