ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Considering the ability of the health and self-management in diabetes questionnaire (HASMID-10) to verify the impact of self-management on diabetes, we highlight its relevance to scientific research and clinical applicability. However, to date, no study has been conducted to scientifically support its use in other languages. OBJECTIVE: To translate, cross-culturally adapt, and validate the HASMID-10 into the Brazilian Portuguese. DESIGN AND SETTING: A translation, cross-cultural adaptation, and validation study conducted at Ceuma University. METHODS: Study was conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for the Process of Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Self-Report Measures and Consensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement Instruments. We included participants of both sexes diagnosed with diabetes, aged between 18 and 64 years, and without cognitive deficits or any other limitations that would prevent them from answering the questionnaire. We assessed participants using the problem areas in diabetes (PAID) scale and HASMID-10. We assessed reliability using a test-retest model with a 7-day interval between assessments. We used intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), 95% confidence interval (CI), standard error of measurement (SEM), minimum detectable difference (MDD), Spearman correlation coefficient, and floor and ceiling effects. RESULTS: Sample comprised 116 participants, most of whom were women, overweight, non-practitioners of physical activity, and nonsmokers. We observed significant correlations (P = 0.006; rho = −0.256) between the HASMID-10 and PAID, adequate reliability (ICC = 0.780) and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.796). No ceiling or floor effects were observed. CONCLUSION: HASMID-10 has adequate measurement properties and may be used for Brazilians.

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever sobre a utilização da escala de Fugulin para classificação de pacientes pediátricos internados em uma unidade respiratória como subsídio para a alocação de recursos humanos, diante do aumento de casos de Síndrome Respiratória Aguda Grave. Método: Relato de experiência com coleta de dados em prontuário, realizado em um hospital infantil da região metropolitana de Curitiba, aprovado pela Instituição e pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa com Seres Humanos. Resultados: Entre fevereiro a maio de 2022, a porcentagem dos pacientes categorizados em cuidados mínimos e intermediários decaiu em 53 e 11,4%, respectivamente, ao passo que os de cuidados de alta dependência e semi-intensivos expandiram 31,2 e 84,2%. Além disso, em apenas quatro meses, houve aumento considerável na positividade das virologias em comparação aos doze meses de 2021. A suscetibilidade das crianças ao desenvolvimento de infecção respiratória grave foi comprovada através da diminuição de virologias com resultados não detectáveis. Conclusão: Os resultados obtidos permitiram concluir que houve um aumento expressivo da complexidade dos pacientes admitidos na unidade respiratória, sendo essencial o provimento de equipe de enfermagem compatível com as necessidades de cuidados.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the use of the Fugulin scale to classify pediatric patients hospitalized in a respiratory unit as a subsidy for the allocation of human resources given the increase in cases of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. Method: Experience report conducted in a children’s hospital in the Metropolitan Region of Curitiba with data collection from medical records and approved by the Institution and by the Research Ethics Committee. Results: Between February and May 2022, the percentage of patients categorized in minimal and intermediate care decreased by 53 and 11.4%, respectively, while those in high dependency and semi-intensive care expanded by 31.2 and 84.2%. In addition, in just four months, there was a considerable increase in the positivity of virologies compared to the twelve months of 2021. The susceptibility of children to the development of severe respiratory infection was proven through the decrease in virologies with undetectable results. Conclusion: The results obtained allowed us to conclude there was a significant increase in the complexity of patients admitted to the respiratory unit, showing it is essential to provide a nursing team compatible with the care needs.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Describir el uso de la escala de Fugulin para la clasificación de pacientes pediátricos hospitalizados en una unidad respiratoria como subsidio para la asignación de recursos humanos, ante el aumento de casos de Síndrome Respiratorio Agudo Grave. Método: Relato de experiencia con recolección de datos de registros médicos, realizado en un hospital infantil de la región metropolitana de Curitiba, aprobado por la Institución y por el Comité de Ética en Investigación con Seres Humanos. Resultados: Entre febrero y mayo de 2022, el porcentaje de pacientes categorizados en cuidados mínimos e intermedios disminuyó en 53 y 11,4%, respectivamente, mientras que los de alta dependencia y cuidados semiintensivos se expandieron a un 31,2 y un 84,2%. Además, en tan solo cuatro meses se registró un aumento considerable de la positividad de virologías respecto a los doce meses de 2021. Se comprobó la susceptibilidad de los niños al desarrollo de infección respiratoria grave a través de la disminución de virologías con resultados indetectables. Conclusión: Los resultados obtenidos permitieron concluir que hubo un aumento significativo en la complejidad de los pacientes ingresados en la unidad respiratoria, demostrando que es fundamental disponer de un equipo de enfermería compatible con las necesidades asistenciales.

Abstract The parameter for delimiting Areas of Permanent Preservation (APPs) in the 2012 Forest Code is the edge of the regular stream bed, not its highest level. The objective of this study is to evaluate the loss of protected areas, framed the category of water APPs in the 2012 Forest Code, in the Cabaçal River. By means of spatial technologies, maps of vegetation cover and land use from 2012 and 2018 were prepared. The change in the Forest Code in 2012 caused the loss of 90% of the area previously protected by the 1965 Code, corresponding to the major waterbed of the Cabaçal River, especially in the lower course, located in the Pantanal plain of Mato Grosso. It was concluded that the vegetation cover in the Areas of Permanent Preservation was suppressed so that urban and agricultural uses could be implanted, characterizing them as conflict areas due to the flexibilization of the environmental legislation.

Resumen El parámetro para delimitar las Áreas de Conservación Permanente del Código Forestal de 2012 es el borde del cauce del cauce regular y no su nivel más alto. El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar la pérdida de áreas protegidas, clasificadas en la categoría de APP de agua, debido al Código Forestal 2012 en el río Cabaçal. Los mapas de uso del suelo y cobertura vegetal para los años 2012 y 2018 se elaboraron utilizando tecnologías espaciales. La modificación del Código Forestal en 2012 provocó la pérdida del 90% del área anteriormente protegida por la de 1965, correspondiente al lecho hidrológico mayor del Cabaçal. río, especialmente en el curso bajo, ubicado en la llanura del Pantanal de Mato Grosso. Se concluyó que se removió la cubierta vegetal en las APPs para que se pudieran implementar usos urbanos y agrícolas, caracterizándolos como conflictos por la flexibilidad de la legislación ambiental.

Resumo O parâmetro para delimitação das Áreas de Preservação Permanentes (APPs) do Código Florestal de 2012 é a borda da calha do leito regular do curso d’água e não o seu nível mais alto. O objetivo deste estudo é avaliar a perda de áreas protegidas, enquadradas na categoria das APPs hídricas, em virtude do Código Florestal de 2012, no rio Cabaçal, MT Por meio das tecnologias espaciais, foram elaborados mapas de cobertura vegetal e uso da terra de 2012 e 2018. A mudança do Código Florestal em 2012 ocasionou perda de 90% de área anteriormente protegida pelo de 1965, correspondente ao leito maior hidrológico do rio Cabaçal, especialmente no baixo curso, situado na planície do Pantanal mato-grossense. Concluiu-se que a cobertura vegetal nas Áreas de Preservação Permanente foi suprimida para que os usos urbano e agropecuário fossem implantados, caracterizando-as como de conflitos devido à flexibilização da legislação ambiental.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate inactivated CoronaVac prime vaccination, antibody decay, booster dose, and safety in ANCA-Associated Vasculitis (AAV) patients. Methods: Fifty-three AAV patients and 106 Controls (CG) received CoronaVac on days: D0 (first dose), D28(second dose), and D210 (booster dose, 32 AAV: 32 CG). The primary outcome was immunogenicity after the second vaccine dose (day 69) assessed by Seroconversion Rates (SC) of anti-SARS-CoV-2 S1/S2 IgG and Neutralizing Antibodies (NAb). Secondary outcomes were safety, immunogenicity (D28/D240), 6-months antibody decay (D210) and the booster dose response (D240). Results: At D69 SC (65.1% vs. 96.8%, p = 0.0001), GMT (21.3 UA/mL vs. 67.7 UA/mL, p < 0.001) and NAb- positivity (53.7% vs. 80.6%, p = 0.001) were moderate but lower in naïve-AAV patients than CG. Patients without SC used more often IS (93.3% vs. 53.3%, p = 0.015), mycophenolate mofetil (20% vs. 0%, p = 0.037) and prednisone (60.0% vs. 28.6%, p = 0.057) than seroconverted. NAb negativity in AAV patients was associated with prednisone treatment (57.9% vs. 18.2%, p = 0.015) and IS (84.2% vs. 55.0%, p = 0.046). Logistic regression analysis models showed that only prednisone was associated with lower seroconversion (OR = 0.2, 0,95% CI 0.05–0.86, p = 0.030) and with lower NAb positivity (OR = 0.2, 0,95% CI 0.05–0.88, p = 0.034). After six months (D69–D210) a decrease in IgG positivity occurred in 32 AAV patients (15.7%, p = 0.074) and 32 CG (18.7%, p = 0.041). For the NAb positivity, the 6-month decrease was not significant (p = 0.114) whereas a major reduction occurred for CG (p < 0.001). A booster dose (D240) resulted in an increment in IgG-positivity (21.9%, p = 0.023) and NAb-positivity (34.4%, p = 0.006) in AAV patients. No moderate/severe adverse events attributable to the vaccine were observed. Conclusion: This study provides novel data on the excellent safety and moderate immunogenicity of CoronaVac in AAV patients. A six-month mild antibody waning was observed with a good response to the booster dose, although levels remained lower than CG (CoronavRheum-NCT04754698).

Abstract We investigated the associations of seasonality, dispersal modes and seed germination speeds with the fruiting of Clusia nemorosa, Pleroma fissinervium, and Vochysia pyramidalis in a gallery forest, Chapada Diamantina, Brazil. Observations of mature fruits with dispersing seeds were carried out from 2003 to 2006. Cross-correlation and circular statistics were performed to test the relationships among fruiting and abiotic factors, and phenological seasonality. Dispersion syndromes were defined and germination experiments were performed after seed collection (n =100/species), using four replicates. The species evidenced seasonal fruiting. Clusia nemorosa produced zoochoric seeds and V. pyramidalis anemochoric seeds, which were dispersed during the rainy season and positively correlated with precipitation; P. fissinervium produced autochoric seeds, released during the dry season to early rainy season, being positively correlated with insolation and negatively with humidity. The rotating wing seeds of V. pyramidalis were released in the rainy season and aided floating in watercourses, characterizing hydrochory. Clusia nemorosa and V. pyramidalis germinated (2-6 days) more rapidly than P. fissinervium (9 days). Seasonality, dispersal modes, and optimal germination conditions modulated the fruiting of the species examined, whose reproductive strategies responded to environmental drivers such as precipitation, favoring germination during the rainy season.

Resumo Investigamos a associação da sazonalidade, modos de dispersão e velocidade de germinação com a frutificação de Clusia nemorosa, Pleroma fissinervium, e Vochysia piramidalis em mata de galeria, Chapada Diamantina, Brasil. Frutos maduros com sementes em dispersão foram observados de 2003-2006. Correlação cruzada e estatística circular testaram relações entre frutificação e fatores abióticos e sazonalidade fenológica. Síndromes de dispersão foram definidas e experimentos de germinação ocorreram imediatamente após coleta das sementes (n = 100/espécie), utilizando quatro repetições. As três espécies apresentaram frutificação sazonal, C. nemorosa com sementes zoocóricas e V. piramidalis com sementes anemocóricas dispersas durante as chuvas, foram positivamente correlacionadas com a precipitação, e P. fissinervium com sementes autocóricas liberadas durante a estação seca ao início das chuvas, positivamente correlacionadas com insolação e negativamente com a umidade. Sementes de alas rotativas auxiliando a flutuação em cursos d’água, liberadas na estação chuvosa, definiram hidrocoria para V. pyramidalis. Clusia nemorosa e V. pyramidalis germinaram (2-6 dias) mais rapidamente que P. fissinervium (9 dias). Sazonalidade, modos de dispersão e condições ótimas de germinação modularam a frutificação das espécies, cujas estratégias reprodutivas responderam a fatores ambientais, como precipitação, favorecendo a germinação na estação chuvosa.

The operational conditions of β-galactosidase encapsulated in pectin-alginate hydrogel were investigated as well as its catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of lactose from whey and whole milk. β-Galactosidase encapsulated in pectin-alginate hydrogel showed the best results to yields and diffusional effect and pH range. Thermostability showed considerable income gain for half-life (1.7-fold), activation energy of denaturation (31.6-fold), activation of denaturation (217.3-fold at 40 ºC; 266.8-fold at 50 ºC; 345.6-fold at 60 ºC), and entropy of activation of denaturation (-42.0 J mol 1 K-1). Reusability of encapsulated β-galactosidase was observed in 8-cycles for the milk whey lactose hydrolysis (51.9%) and 7-cycles for whole milk (55.6%), and the lactose hydrolysis was observed in 13% in milk whey and 10.3% in whole milk after 10 cycles. These results revealed an industrial application potential of β-galactosidase encapsulated in pectin-alginate hydrogel for lactose hydrolysis of milk whey and whole milk processes.

ABSTRACT Background: The wood heat treatment results in the partial degradation of its chemical constituents, mainly cellulose and hemicellulose, reducing the hygroscopicity of the material. This process improves the dimensional stability and resistance to biodeterioration and worsens the mechanical resistance. This work aimed to evaluate the effect of heat treatment on the physical, anatomical, chemical, and mechanical properties of Fraxinus excelsior wood. In untreated and heat-treated wood, the pH, buffering capacity, basic density, equilibrium moisture content, shrinkage, wood anatomy, thermogravimetric behavior, and chemistry by conventional and FTIR methods were determined. Results: Heat treated wood had lower pH (5.50), equilibrium moisture content (6.26%), shrinkage (7,29%), holocellulose contents (55,96%) and higher buffering capacity (0,479 mmol/L), extractives (8,25%), and lignin contents (35,78%). Heat treatment reduced the pH and increased the buffering capacity of the wood, reduced the holocellulose content, and increased the lignin content, leaving the wood less hygroscopic and reducing its volumetric and linear variation. The process did not change the basic density and fiber length, but it reduced their width, lumen diameter, and wall thickness. The FTIR analysis confirmed the degradation of holocellulose and division of aliphatic side chains in lignin. The maximum dredging range of untreated and heat-treated wood occurred at 350 ºC, and the heat-treated wood had a higher residual mass when subjected to 500 ºC. Conclusion: Heat-treated wood can be indicated for products used in external environments, such as floors, fences, coatings, door and window structures.

ABSTRACT Objective: To characterize the sociodemographic, clinical and survival profile of adult metastatic patients. Method: Retrospective cross-sectional study, with secondary data from an oncology care unit, analyzed using logistic regression, Chi-Square test and Fisher’s exact test, Kaplan-Meier and Log-Rank tests. Results: From the 678 patients, male gender, mean age 59.54 years old and low education level prevailed. The mean time between diagnosis and initiation of treatment was 89.50 days (± 58.87). Increased risk of primary cancer in the digestive tract (OR 1.42). Prevalence of adenocarcinoma (OR 1.53) and metastasis to bone (OR 2.59), lymph nodes (OR 1.75), liver and peritoneum (OR 1.42). The mean overall survival was 4.16 months and a median of 3.0 months. Conclusion: The main primary site was the digestive system, and the identification of metastases was predominantly unifocal liver in both genders. Overall patient survival was reduced by cancer progression.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Caracterizar el perfil sociodemográfico, clínico y de supervivencia de pacientes adultos metastáticos. Método: Estudio transversal retrospectivo, con datos secundarios de una unidad de atención oncológica, analizados por: regresión logística, prueba de Chi-Cuadrado y prueba exacta de Fisher, Kaplan-Meier y Log-Rank. Resultados: De los 678 pacientes predominó el sexo masculino, edad media 59,54 años y baja escolaridad. El promedio entre el diagnóstico y el inicio del tratamiento fue de 89,50 días (± 58,87). Mayor riesgo de cáncer primario en el tracto digestivo (OR 1,42). Prevalencia de adenocarcinoma (OR 1,53) y metástasis en hueso (OR 2,59), ganglios linfáticos (OR 1,75), hígado y peritoneo (OR 1,42). La supervivencia global media fue de 4,16 meses y una mediana de 3,0 meses. Conclusión: El principal sitio primario fue el tracto digestivo y la identificación de metástasis fue predominantemente hepática unifocal en ambos sexos. La supervivencia general del paciente se redujo por la progresión del cáncer.

Resultados: Dos 678 pacientes, prevaleceu o sexo masculino, a idade média 59,54 anos e a baixa escolaridade. A média entre o diagnóstico e o início de tratamento foi 89,50 dias (± 58,87). Maior risco de câncer primário no aparelho digestivo (OR 1,42). Prevalência do adenocarcinoma (OR 1,53) e metástase para o osso (OR 2,59), linfonodos (OR 1,75), fígado e peritônio (OR 1,42). A média de sobrevida global foi de 4,16meses e mediana de 3,0 meses. Conclusão: O principal sítio primário foi o aparelho digestivo e a identificação das metástases foi prevalentemente hepática unifocal em ambos os sexos. A sobrevida global dos pacientes foi reduzida pelo avanço do câncer.

ABSTRACT Objective: Evaluate the satisfaction of outpatient oncology users taking antineoplastic drugs about nursing care. Methods: Exsectional study with a quantitative approach, carried out at the Chemotherapy Service of a university hospital located in Belém-PA - Brazil, with 200 users, from June 2019 to June 2022, through interviews and use of the Patient Satisfaction Instrument. Chi-square analysis, Pearson p-value, and chi-square analysis were applied, and the p-value ≤ 0.05 was considered. Results: Users reported good satisfaction in the overall average of the domains (>90%), highlighting the technical-professional domain, followed by the educational and confidence domains. The variables of clarification of medical guidelines, giving good advice, and taking the initiative after patient responses were associated with user satisfaction according to cancer topography and staff availability to those with different degrees of staging. Conclusion: This study assists managers in identifying and planning improvements in areas and services.

RESUMEN Objetivo: evaluar la satisfacción de los usuarios de oncología ambulatoria que utilizan fármacos antineoplásicos sobre los cuidados de enfermería. Métodos: estudio seccional con enfoque cuantitativo, realizado en el Servicio de Quimioterapia de un hospital universitario situado en Belém-PA - Brasilcon 200 usuarios en el período de junio de 2019 a junio de 2022, mediante entrevista y utilización del Instrumento de Satisfacción del Paciente. Se aplicó el análisis chi-cuadrado de Pearson y el valor p ≤0,05. Resultados: los usuarios declararon una buena satisfacción en la media global de los dominios (>90%), destacando el dominio técnico-profesional, seguido de los dominios educativo y de confianza. Las variables de aclaración sobre las directrices médicas, dar buenos consejos, tomar la iniciativa tras las respuestas de los pacientes se asociaron con la satisfacción de los usuarios según la topografía del cáncer y la disponibilidad del personal ante los distintos grados de estadificación. Conclusión: este estudio ayuda a los directivos a identificar y planificar mejoras en áreas y servicios.

RESUMO Objetivo: avaliar a satisfação do usuário oncológico ambulatorial em uso de antineoplásicos sobre os cuidados de enfermagem. Métodos: estudo transversal com abordagem quantitativa, realizado no Serviço de Quimioterapia de um hospital universitário localizado em Belém-PA - Brasil, com 200 usuários no período de junho de 2019 a junho de 2022, através de entrevista e uso do Instrumento de Satisfação do Paciente. Aplicou-se análise de qui-quadrado de Pearson e considerou-se p-valor ≤0,05. Resultados: os usuários relataram bom índice de satisfação na média geral dos domínios (>90%), destacando o domínio técnico-profissional, seguido do educacional e confiança. As variáveis de esclarecimento sobre as orientações médicas, dar bons conselhos, tomar iniciativa após as respostas dos pacientes foram associadas à satisfação do usuário conforme a topografia do câncer e a disponibilidade da equipe àqueles com diferentes graus de estadiamento. Conclusão: este estudo auxilia gestores na identificação e planejamento de melhorias nas áreas e serviços.

ABSTRACT Molecular imaging markers can be used to differentiate between infection and aseptic inflammation, determine the severity of infection, and monitor treatment responses. One of these markers is ubiquicidin(29-41) (UBI), a cationic peptide fragment that binds to the bacterial membrane wall and is labeled with gallium-68 (68Ga), a positron emitter radioisotope. The use of UBI in positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) for improved detection of lesions has been receiving considerable attention recently. Herein, we report the first case of 68Ga-UBI PET/CT performed in Brazil. The patient was a 39-year-old woman referred for a scan to confirm a clinical suspicion of chronic osteomyelitis of her fractured left tibia. PET images revealed radiotracer uptake near the posterior contour of the tibial fracture focus and the fixation plate, in the soft tissue around the distal half of the tibia, and in the non-consolidated fracture of the left distal fibula. Surgery for local cleaning was performed, and culture of a specimen collected from the surgical site confirmed the presence of Staphylococcus aureus. In the present case, 68Ga-UBI PET/CT, a non-invasive imaging modality, identified the infection foci in vivo, indicating its potential for clinical use.

Abstract This qualitative research, based on the discourse of the collective subject, analyzes distance education as an active methodology in the continuing education of a nursing team at a university hospital in Minas Gerais. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire and a focus group, and organized according to three central ideas that emerged in the meetings. Research participants see distance education as an active teaching methodology that enables interventions at work, provided that there is necessary infrastructure for developing the work process and implementing training in the work environment. The analysis also emphasizes the importance of nursing workers being an active subject in their teaching-learning process, using continuing health education to provide integral, ethical, and safe care to the Unified Health System users.

Resumen Desde una investigación cualitativa con la técnica del discurso del sujeto colectivo, este estudio analiza la educación a distancia como metodología activa en la formación permanente del equipo de enfermería de un hospital universitario de Minas Gerais (Brasil). Se recopilaron los datos mediante un cuestionario y un grupo focal para organizarlos de acuerdo con tres ejes centrales que surgieron en las reuniones. Para los participantes de la investigación, la modalidad a distancia puede ser una metodología de enseñanza activa que posibilita intervenciones en el trabajo, siempre que exista la infraestructura necesaria para el desarrollo del proceso de trabajo y la realización de capacitaciones en el ambiente laboral. Es importante que el profesional enfermero sea un sujeto activo en su proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje al usar la educación permanente en salud para brindar asistencia integral, ética y segura a los usuarios del Sistema Único de Salud.

Resumo Mediante pesquisa qualitativa com a técnica do discurso do sujeito coletivo, este estudo analisa a educação à distância como metodologia ativa na educação permanente de equipe de enfermagem de hospital universitário de Minas Gerais. Coletados por meio de questionário e de grupo focal, os dados foram organizados conforme três ideias centrais que emergiram nas reuniões. Para os participantes da pesquisa, a modalidade à distância pode ser considerada uma metodologia ativa de ensino que possibilita intervenções no trabalho, desde que haja infraestrutura necessária para o desenvolvimento do processo de trabalho e realização das capacitações no ambiente laboral. Para concluir, ressalta-se a importância do trabalhador da enfermagem ser sujeito ativo do seu processo de ensino-aprendizagem, utilizando a educação permanente em saúde para prestar assistência aos usuários do Sistema Único de Saúde de forma integral, ética e segura.

Resumo É essencial que a avaliação da inteligência seja integrada com a criatividade embora não existam instrumentos no país para essa finalidade. Esta pesquisa investigou a dificuldade dos itens e as evidências de validade e precisão da Bateria de Avaliação Intelectual e Criativa Infantil (BAICI) para oferecer uma avaliação mais completa do potencial infantil. A primeira amostra foi composta por 612 crianças (54% M), idade sete a 12 anos e a segunda de 377 estudantes (56% M), uma parte (N = 164) já identificadas com altas habilidades/superdotação. A análise pela TRI indicou a necessidade de ajuste de itens da BAICI. Os resultados pela MANCOVA indicaram que a BAICI possui evidências de validade com variáveis externas, pois o grupo de crianças superdotadas se distinguiu significativamente de estudantes de escolas regulares nos testes de vocabulário, rapidez, pensamento lógico e criatividade. Conclui-se que a BAICI possui qualidades psicométricas para ser utilizada na avaliação psicológica infantil.

Abstract It is essential that intelligence assessment be integrated with creativity, although no instruments in Brazil do so. This research investigated the item difficulty and validity and reliability of the Bateria de Avaliação Intelectual e Criativa Infantil (BAICI) to address this gap. The first sample consisted of 612 children (54% M) aged 7 to 12 years, and the second sample consisted of 377 students (56% M), some of whom (N = 164) were already identified as exhibiting high skills/giftedness. Item analysis indicated the need to adjust the BAICI items. The results of a MANCOVA indicated that the BAICI exhibits evidence of validity with external variables because the group of gifted children was significantly distinguished from the group of students attending regular schools on tests of vocabulary, speed, logical thinking, and creativity. The study concludes that the BAICI has psychometric qualities that can be used in the psychological assessment of children.

Resumen Es fundamental que la evaluación de la inteligencia se integre con la creatividad, aunque en el país no existen instrumentos para este fin. Esta investigación analizó las evidencias de validez y precisión de la Batería de Evaluación Intelectual y Creativa Infantil (BAICI) para proporcionar una evaluación más completa del potencial de los niños. La primera muestra estuvo compuesta por 612 niños (54% M), de 7 a 12 años, a su vez, la segunda por 377 estudiantes (56% M), una parte (N = 164) ya identificada con altas habilidades/superdotación. El análisis de la TRI indicó la necesidad de ajustar los ítems de la BAICI. Los resultados de MANCOVA indicaron que BAICI tiene evidencias de validez con variables externas, ya que el grupo de niños superdotados se distinguió significativamente de niños de escuelas regulares en las pruebas de vocabulario, velocidad, pensamiento lógico y creatividad. Se concluye que la BAICI tiene cualidades psicométricas para ser utilizada en la evaluación psicológica infantil.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a contribuição do cuidado de enfermagem, com ênfase na comunicação, para o paciente sob cuidados paliativos na fase terminal e seus familiares. Método: estudo qualitativo, realizado em um Hospital Filantrópico da cidade de João Pessoa-PB, Brasil, em 2019, desenvolvido com 15 familiares de pacientes em cuidados paliativos, por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas. Os dados foram submetidos à análise de conteúdo, proposta por Bardin, à luz da Teoria do Final de Vida Pacífico. Resultados: emergiram duas categorias: ‘A comunicação dos profissionais de enfermagem como estratégia para promover conforto, paz, dignidade e respeito para pacientes e familiares em cuidados paliativos’; ‘A presença e o diálogo de pessoas importantes para o paciente sob cuidados paliativos são fundamentais para um final de vida pacífico.’ Conclusão: espera-se que, através desse estudo, seja possível aprimorar a assistência à família acerca da comunicação nos cuidados paliativos.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the contribution of nursing care, with emphasis on communication, for the patient under palliative care in the terminal phase and their families. Method: qualitative study, conducted in a Philanthropic Hospital in the city of João Pessoa-PB, Brazil, in 2019, developed with 15 family members of patients in palliative care, through semi-structured interviews. The data were submitted to content analysis, proposed by Bardin, in the light of the Pacific End of Life Theory. Results: two categories emerged: ‘Communication by nursing professionals as a strategy to promote comfort, peace, dignity and respect for patients and families in palliative care’; ‘The presence and dialogue of people important to the patient under palliative care are fundamental for a peaceful end of life.’ Conclusion: it is hoped that, through this study, it will be possible to improve assistance to the family about communication in palliative care.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar la contribución de los cuidados de enfermería, con énfasis en la comunicación, para el paciente en cuidados paliativos en fase terminal y sus familias. Método: estudio cualitativo, realizado en un Hospital Filantrópico de la ciudad de João Pessoa-PB, Brasil, en 2019, desarrollado con 15 familiares de pacientes en cuidados paliativos, a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas. Los datos fueron sometidos a un análisis de contenido, propuesto por Bardin, a la luz de la Teoría del Final Tranquilo de la Vida. Resultados: surgieron dos categorías: “La comunicación de los profesionales de enfermería como estrategia para promover el confort, la paz, la dignidad y el respeto a los pacientes y familiares en los cuidados paliativos”; “La presencia y el diálogo de las personas importantes para el paciente en los cuidados paliativos son fundamentales para un final de vida tranquilo”. Conclusión: se espera que, a través de este estudio, sea posible mejorar la asistencia a la familia sobre la comunicación en los cuidados paliativos.

Abstract The objective of this study was to use the passion fruit peel P. cincinnata Mast., as a viable alternative to produce food (flour and cookies) that is rich in fiber and environmentally sustainable. For this, fruit peels were obtained, which were hygienized, dehydrated and ground in a knife mill in order to develop the flour, which was then used in different concentrations in three formulations of chip cookies (using 10%, 20% and 30% of the flour developed). Analyzes physicochemical and microbiological composition were performed for both flour and for the cookies developed and a sensorial acceptance test was performed for the cookies. It was possible to observe that the flour had an adequate centesimal composition, when it was about quality and safety, as well as health benefits. As for the physicochemical composition, the flour had 5.79 ± 0.11% of ashes; 78.23 ± 0.84% of total carbohydrates; 5.78 ± 0.11% moisture; 4.83 ± 0.00% acidity; 3.74 ± 0.04 pH; 1.66 ± 0.06% lipids; 8.59 ± 0.82% protein and 58,3 g/100g dietary fiber. The study demonstrates its nutritional quality by reducing the lipid content of the final product, by comparing the formulation with 30% of the flour developed to the standard formulation, as well as increasing the ash content and acidity and reducing its pH when compared to the standard formulation, promoting the safety and quality of food. Flour presented promising capacity in the development of functional foods, health promoters, and environmental conservation by avoiding its inappropriate disposal.

Abstract Compounding pharmacies play an important role not only in compounding personalized formulations, but also preparing drugs at the same concentration and dosage as those from commercial manufacturers. The excipients used in compounding are generally standardized for many drugs, however they do not consider the intrinsic properties, such as the poor water solubility, of each substance. The excipient performance of commercially available compounded furosemide capsules in 7 compounding pharmacies from Manaus was evaluated and compared them to the performance of the reference medicinal product (Lasix® tablets) and 2 batches of capsules made in-house (T2 and T4) with a standardized excipient. All batches were subjected to tests for weight variation, assay, uniformity of dosage units, disintegration and dissolution profile. Of the 7 different compound formulas acquired in the compounding pharmacies, only 2 passed all tests. Most formulas passed the tests for weight determination, disintegration time and assay, however batches from 2 establishments failed in regards to the uniformity of the content and 5 batches failed the dissolution test. The reference medicinal product was approved in all tests, as were the T2 capsules made in-house with drug-excipient ratio 1:2. These results confirm the importance of the excipient composition, especially for poorly soluble drugs.
