Bibliometric reviews, carried out from access to databases of scientific articles associated with software for data processing, can be helpful for qualitative and quantitative assessments of existing publications on a given topic. Several petroleum hydrocarbons are carcinogenic and immunotoxic agents, causing adverse effects on the biota, and the study of metabolites generated in bioremediation processes has been the object of current research. Therefore, in this work, the use of bibliometric analysis as a tool for surveying studies on the applied metabolomics bioremediation of areas impacted by hydrocarbons is presented. A bibliometric review was carried out in the Scopus Preview and Web of Science databases with data analysis using RStudio software with the bibliometrix package. Abstract Disease in plants as a major limiting factor in agricultural production. In rice culture, it contributes to the reduction of production and grain quality, such as glumela stain caused by Curvularia lunata. As forms of control available to this pathogen, are being of high cost to most producers. Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) can help as plants tolerate pathogen attacks and resistance mechanisms. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the control of C. lunata in the rice culture inoculated with AMF, as well as its benefits in growth and factors of production. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse with a completely randomized experimental design considering the treatments: T1 - Witness; T2 - Rhizophagus clarus; T3 - Claroideoglomus etunicatum; T4 - Gigaspora margarita; T5 - R. clarus + C. etunicatum; T6 - C. etunicatum + G. margarita; T7 - R. clarus + G. margarita and T8 - R. clarus + C. etunicatum + G. margarita. The parameters evaluated were disease severity, height of the aerial part (HAP), dry plant shoot mass (DSPM), grain quantity (full and dry grain), panicle length and mycorrhizal colonization. The DSPM only the T2 and T5 differed from the control and presented higher averages. For the factors of production, all parameters were significant, except for full grains. The AMF present potential in the control of C. lunata, but complementary research is needed on the mechanism of action of the pathogen, AMF and the host plant.
Resumo A doença em plantas é considerada como um dos principais fatores limitantes na produção agrícola como a mancha das glumelas causada por Curvularia lunata. Na cultura do arroz, ela contribui na redução da produção e na qualidade dos grãos. As formas de controle disponíveis para esse patógeno são de alto custo para a maioria dos produtores. Os fungos micorrízicos arbusculares (FMA) podem auxiliar as plantas a tolerarem ataques de patógenos e desenvolverem mecanismos de resistência. Diante disso, este estudo objetivou avaliar o controle de C. lunata na cultura do arroz inoculado com FMA, bem como seus benefícios no crescimento e fatores de produção. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação com delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado considerando os tratamentos: T1 - Testemunha; T2 - Solo + Rhizophagus clarus; T3 - Solo + Claroideoglomus etunicatum; T4 - Solo + Gigaspora margarita; T5 - Solo + R. clarus + C. etunicatum; T6 - Solo + C. etunicatum + G. margarita; T7 - Solo + R. clarus + G. margarita e T8 - Solo + R. clarus + C. etunicatum + G. margarita. Avaliaram-se os parâmetros severidade da doença, altura da parte aérea (ALT), massa seca da parte aérea (MSPA), quantidade de grãos (cheios e chochos), comprimento de panículas e colonização micorrízica. A MSPA apenas Solo + Rhizophagus clarus e Solo + R. clarus + C. etunicatum diferiram da testemunha e apresentaram maiores médias. Nos fatores de produção, todos os parâmetros foram significativos, exceto grãos cheios. Os FMA apresentam potencial na redução dos efeitos causados por C. lunata, porém é necessita de pesquisas complementares sobre o mecanismo de ação do patógeno, FMA e da planta hospedeira.

Abstract The Santos Basin (SB) is the main petroliferous basin in the Brazilian continental margin and one of the most studied marine areas in Brazil. However, historical data suggest that new efforts should be carried out to acquire quantitative biological data, especially in the deep sea, to establish the baseline of essential ocean variables in different ecosystems for future monitoring programs. The Brazilian energy company Petrobras planned and executed 24 oceanographic cruises over a period of 2 years to assess the benthic (SANSED cruise) and pelagic (SANAGU cruise) systems of the SB (356 days at sea in 2019 and 2021/2022). These efforts were part of the Santos Project, which comprised a comprehensive environmental study aimed at investigating benthic and pelagic variables to characterize ecology, biogeochemistry, thermohaline properties of water masses, and ocean circulation patterns, geomorphology, and sedimentology, as well as organic and inorganic chemistry. Here we present the detailed sampling designs and the field methods employed on board, during the SB scientific cruises. All sampling protocols were based on standardized approaches. For the benthos analyses, triplicate sediment samples were performed using a GOMEX-type box corer (0.25 m²) or a large modified Van Veen grab (0.75 m²) at 100 stations ranging from 25 to 2400 m depth. At each station, 25 geochemical and physico-chemical parameters were analyzed in addition to micro-, meio-, and macrofauna and living foraminifera samples. For the pelagic system, 60 stations were selected to investigate the plankton community, ranging in size from pico- to macroplankton, through vertical, horizontal, and oblique net hauls (20, 200, and 500 μm mesh size), as well as 25 biogeochemical parameters collected with an aid of a CTD-rosette sampler. Part of this scientific information also serves the Regional Environmental Characterization Project (PCR-BS) in support of Petrobras’ Santos Basin drilling licensing process led by the Brazilian Environmental Agency – IBAMA. This project contributes to the sustainable development of the SB, in line with the guidelines of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.

Abstract BINGO (BAO from Integrated Neutral Gas Observations) is a unique radio telescope designed to map the intensity of neutral hydrogen distribution at cosmological distances, making the first detection of Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) in the frequency band 980 MHz - 1260 MHz, corresponding to a redshift range 0.127 < z < 0.449. BAO is one of the most powerful probes of cosmological parameters and BINGO was designed to detect the BAO signal to a level that makes it possible to put new constraints on the equation of state of dark energy. The telescope will be built in Paraíba, Brazil and consists of two \thicksim 40m mirrors, a feedhorn array of 50 horns, and no moving parts, working as a drift-scan instrument. It will cover a 15 ^{\circ} ∘ declination strip centered at \sim \delta ∼ δ =-15 ^{\circ} ∘, mapping \sim ∼ 5400 square degrees in the sky. The BINGO consortium is led by University of São Paulo with co-leadership at National Institute for Space Research and Campina Grande Federal University (Brazil). Telescope subsystems have already been fabricated and tested, and the dish and structure fabrication are expected to start in late 2020, as well as the road and terrain preparation.

RESUMO Este estudo descreveu os padrões reprodutivos e de recrutamento do siri Achelous spinimanus (Latreille, 1819) na região de Ubatuba, litoral norte de São Paulo, Brasil. Os siris foram coletados mensalmente, de janeiro de 1998 a dezembro de 1999, em 18 locais em três enseadas (Ubatumirim, Ubatuba e Mar Virado), utilizando um barco de pesca comercial. Em cada área de amostragem foram registrados a temperatura de fundo, salinidade e teor de matéria orgânica. Um total de 1.911 indivíduos foram coletados: 350 machos adultos, 475 fêmeas adultas não ovígeras, 584 fêmeas adultas ovígeras e 502 jovens. As fêmeas reprodutivas foram mais abundantes em áreas profundas; essa migração pode ser uma estratégia para melhorar a dispersão e a sobrevivência das larvas. As fêmeas ovígeras foram encontradas durante todo o ano, indicando uma reprodução contínua, com sua abundância positivamente correlacionada à temperatura. Durante a pesquisa de dois anos, foram encontrados caranguejos em todos os estágios de desenvolvimento gonadal. Podemos inferir que a região de Ubatuba fornece recursos adequados para o estabelecimento e desenvolvimento de A. spinimanus.
ABSTRACT This study describes the reproductive and recruitment patterns of the swimming crab Achelous spinimanus (Latreille, 1819) in the Ubatuba region of the northern coast of São Paulo, Brazil. Crabs were captured monthly from January 1998 to December 1999 in 18 sites located in three bays (Ubatumirim, Ubatuba, and Mar Virado), using a commercial fishing boat. In each sampling area, bottom temperature, salinity, and organic matter content were recorded. A total of 1,911 individuals were captured: 350 adult males, 475 non-ovigerous adult females, 584 adult ovigerous females, and 502 immature individuals. Reproductive females were more abundant in deeper areas; this migration might be a strategy to improve larval dispersion and survival. Ovigerous females were found year-round, indicating a continuous reproduction, and their abundance was positively correlated with temperature. During the 2-year survey, crabs with all gonadal development stages were found. We can infer that this region provides suitable resources for the development of A. spinimanus.

Abstract In Brazil, innumerable regions of native landcover have been removed and replaced by agricultural cultivation, especially of sugarcane. In this culture, the application of fertilizers containing metals has caused impacts on the water resources causing contamination of stream sediments and occasioning bioaccumulation of metals in aquatic invertebrates. In the year of 2006, an environmental diagnosis of metals in sediments of streams located near sugarcane cultivation areas and in streams located in preserved areas, was published. That study pointed to high concentrations of metals in stream sediments in agricultural areas. These streams have been monitored over the last 10 years conducting analyses of metals and monitoring possible changes in land use. In the present paper, a historical comparison of metals contamination in the sediments of the same streams is conducted, aiming to present a status of 10 years later, analyzing 5 metals (Zn, Cd, Mn, Cr and Fe) found in the sediments of 8 streams, five located in areas of sugarcane cultivation and three located in preserved areas. This study also shows that there is higher concentration of metals in the sediments of streams near sugarcane cultivation than in preserved areas. The temporal historical evaluation showed high concentrations of Cd in 2016 when compared to the year 2006 for streams near sugarcane cultivation.

Specimens of Leonotis nepetiflolia were obtained from cultivated and wild environments to verify their influences in chemical composition. Phytochemical analyses were conducted for the ethyl acetate phase obtained by partitioning the crude ethanol extract from the cultivated leaves of L. nepetifolia. In doing so, flavonoid 3',4',5-trimethoxy-6,7-dihidroxyflavone (cirsiliol), a chemotaxonomic marker of the family Lamiaceae, was isolated. The results reveal that all phases and extracts tested exhibited weak to moderate antimicrobial activity against the strains of bacteria tested. The evaluation of in vitrocytotoxic and antitumor activity showed that the ethyl acetate phases obtained from both wild and cultivated leaves exhibit high potential cytotoxic and antitumor (> 78.0% of inhibition) activity. The major component of these phases was identified by high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector and nuclear magnetic resonance analyses using both 1D and 2D methods. The results further indicate that the flavonoid cirsiliol is the agent responsible for the activity observed in these phases.

Resumo Apresenta-se uma síntese atualizada de informações sobre algas no Brasil objetivando refinar os dados reunidos até o presente, bem como avaliar os avanços sobre o conhecimento da diversidade de algas no país desde a publicação do Catálogo de Plantas e Fungos do Brasil. Os resultados de 2015 mostraram um acréscimo de 1.250 espécies (35.7%) a um total de 4.747 em relação a 2010. As classes mais diversas em número de espécies foram Bacillariophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, Florideophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae e Euglenophyceae. Bacillariophyceae e Cyanophyceae tiveram o maior acréscimo de espécies no intervalo de cinco anos. A região Sudeste e Sul foram as mais diversas, porém, as regiões Nordeste com os estados do Piauí e Sergipe e Centro-Oeste com os estados de Mato Grosso, Goiás e Distrito Federal destacaram-se no cenário da biodiversidade nacional. Apesar da escassez de taxonomistas e da infraestrutura limitada, os resultados obtidos evidenciaram um avanço significativo no conhecimento da diversidade de algas no país nesse período de cinco anos, iniciando uma mudança quanto as diferenças geográficas regionais.
Abstract An updated synthesis of cyanobacteria and algae information is presented for Brazil aiming to refine the data gathered to date and evaluate the progress of the biodiversity knowledge about these organisms in the country since the publication of the Catálogo de Plantas e Fungos do Brasil. The results of 2015 showed an increase of 1,250 species (35.7%) when compared to 2010, reaching a total of 4,747 species. The most diverse classes in species number were the Bacillariophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, Florideophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae and Euglenophyceae. Bacillariophyceae and Cyanophyceae had the highest increase in species number in the five-year interval. The Southeast and South regions were the most diverse, however, the Northeast, with the states of Piauí and Sergipe, and the Central-west region, with Mato Grosso, Goiás and Distrito Federal, also stood out in the national algal biodiversity scenario. Despite the shortage of taxonomists and limited infrastructure, the results showed a significant improvement in the knowledge regarding the diversity of cyanobacteria and algae in the country during the study period, starting to even out regional geographical differences caused by subsampling.

Resumo Um levantamento atualizado das plantas com sementes e análises relevantes acerca desta biodiversidade são apresentados. Este trabalho se iniciou em 2010 com a publicação do Catálogo de Plantas e Fungos e, desde então vem sendo atualizado por mais de 430 especialistas trabalhando online. O Brasil abriga atualmente 32.086 espécies nativas de Angiospermas e 23 espécies nativas de Gimnospermas e estes novos dados mostram um aumento de 3% da riqueza em relação a 2010. A Amazônia é o Domínio Fitogeográfico com o maior número de espécies de Gimnospermas, enquanto que a Floresta Atlântica possui a maior riqueza de Angiospermas. Houve um crescimento considerável no número de espécies e nas taxas de endemismo para a maioria dos Domínios (Caatinga, Cerrado, Floresta Atlântica, Pampa e Pantanal), com exceção da Amazônia que apresentou uma diminuição de 2,5% de endemicidade. Entretanto, a maior parte das plantas com sementes que ocorrem no Brasil (57,4%) é endêmica deste território. A proporção de formas de vida varia de acordo com os diferentes Domínios: árvores são mais expressivas na Amazônia e Floresta Atlântica do que nos outros biomas, ervas são dominantes no Pampa e as lianas apresentam riqueza expressiva na Amazônia, Floresta Atlântica e Pantanal. Este trabalho não só quantifica a biodiversidade brasileira, mas também indica as lacunas de conhecimento e o desafio a ser enfrentado para a conservação desta flora.
Abstract An updated inventory of Brazilian seed plants is presented and offers important insights into the country's biodiversity. This work started in 2010, with the publication of the Plants and Fungi Catalogue, and has been updated since by more than 430 specialists working online. Brazil is home to 32,086 native Angiosperms and 23 native Gymnosperms, showing an increase of 3% in its species richness in relation to 2010. The Amazon Rainforest is the richest Brazilian biome for Gymnosperms, while the Atlantic Rainforest is the richest one for Angiosperms. There was a considerable increment in the number of species and endemism rates for biomes, except for the Amazon that showed a decrease of 2.5% of recorded endemics. However, well over half of Brazillian seed plant species (57.4%) is endemic to this territory. The proportion of life-forms varies among different biomes: trees are more expressive in the Amazon and Atlantic Rainforest biomes while herbs predominate in the Pampa, and lianas are more expressive in the Amazon, Atlantic Rainforest, and Pantanal. This compilation serves not only to quantify Brazilian biodiversity, but also to highlight areas where there information is lacking and to provide a framework for the challenge faced in conserving Brazil's unique and diverse flora.

Copaiba oil, extracted from Copaifera multijuga Hayne, Fabaceae, is widely used for medicinal purposes, especially to treat inflammatory processes. However, there is no report regarding its effect on reproductive performance after used in repeated doses orally. The present study evaluated the effects of the oral administration of Copaiba oil (at doses of 200, 500 or 2500 mg/kg) or water (control) for eight weeks in male Wistar rats. Treated males mated untreated females, and parameters as fertility rates, absolute and relative mass of accessory sexual organs and histology and development of the offspring were evaluated. Chemical analysis revealed the presence of 22 components accounting for 99.11% of the Copaiba oil. The main compounds identified were sesquisterpenes. The reproductive toxicology results indicate that there was no difference between the treated groups compared with the control group in any of the parameters, suggesting that the oral treatment with C. multijuga oil for eight weeks does not affect reproductive performance of male Wistar rats.

BACKGROUND: Transcutaneous electrical diaphragmatic stimulation (TEDS) has been used to improve respiratory muscle strength in patients with respiratory muscle weakness. However, this physical therapy resource has not been studied in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the respiratory pattern during one session of TEDS in COPD patients. METHOD: Fifteen COPD patients participated in one TEDS session for plethysmographic analysis and assessment of peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) and heart rate (HR). After the session, patients were divided into two groups: Responder (R; n=9) and Non-Responder (NR; n=6) to TEDS. Statistic analysis was performed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and two-way ANOVA. For the parameters that showed interaction, the Student t test was used (P<0.05). RESULTS: R group consisted mainly of men, with lower SpO2 and higher HR than NR group. When time (before and during) and groups (R and NR) were compared (interaction), there were differences in the parameters minute ventilation (Vent), inspiratory tidal volume (ViVol), expiratory tidal volume (VeVol), and respiratory rate (Br/M). In the intergroup comparison, differences were observed in the parameters Vent, ViVol, and VeVol. A significant effect was also observed for time in change in end-expiratory lung volume level (qDEEL), phase relation during inspiration (PhRIB); phase relation during expiration (PhREB); phase relation of entire breath (PhRTB), and phase angle (PhAng). During TEDS, there was an increase in SpO2 and a reduction in HR in both groups. CONCLUSIONS: The most hypoxemic group with greater HR responded to TEDS and there was interaction between group and time of analysis for the pulmonary volumes. The time factor had an influence on the two groups with an increase in thoracoabdominal asynchrony.

An investigation was directed towards the antiacetylcholinesterase activity of the acid aqueous and methanolic extracts of five cyanobacterial taxa, which encompasses an enzymatic inhibition essay and the evaluation of the physiological responses of mice to cyanobacterial extracts along with toxicological observations. The strains Calothrix sp. CCIBt 3320, Tolypothrix sp. CCIBt 3321, Phormidium cf. amoenum CCIBt 3412, Phormidium sp. CCIBt 3265, and Geitlerinema splendidum CCIBt 3223 were from the São Paulo Botanical Institute Cyanobacterial Culture Collection and all of them showed inhibitory effect on acetylcholinesterase activity (in vitro) and caused systemic effects similar to those described for anticholinesterase drugs (in vivo). With the exception of G. splendidum and Tolypothrix sp. strains, all extracts produced reversible antiacetylcolinesterase effects in mice. Complementary histopathological studies were carried out on tissues from animals administered with Phormidium sp. and P. cf. amoenum.

A investigação fitoquímica dos frutos maduros de Solanum caavurana Vell. (Solanaceae) forneceu um novo alcaloide esteroidal do tipo espirosolano, caavuranamida, juntamente com os alcaloides 4-tomatiden-3-ona e 5α-tomatidan-3-ona. Suas estruturas foram elucidadas através de métodos espectroscópicos. As atividades antiproliferativa e antimicrobiana para o extrato etanólico e subfrações provenientes de partição e de extração ácido-base foram investigadas. A caavuranamida apresentou atividade antibacteriana similar ao controle positivo cloranfenicol contra Rhodococcus equi.
Phytochemical investigation of the ripe fruits of Solanum caavurana Vell. (Solanaceae) afforded a novel steroidal alkaloid with spirosolane-type skeleton, named as caavuranamide, together with the alkaloids 4-tomatiden-3-one and 5α-tomatidan-3-one. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The antiproliferative and antimicrobial activities for the ethanolic extract, sub-fractions obtained from partition and acid-base treatment were also evaluated. Caavuranamide showed antibacterial activity similar to the chloramphenicol positive control against Rhodococcus equi.

O estudo fitoquímico das cascas de Guatteria blepharophylla (Mart.) Mart. forneceu 12 compostos, sendo dois sesquiterpenos, óxido de cariofileno (1) e espatulenol (3), uma xantona, liquexantona (2), uma mistura de esteróides, β-sitosterol (4) e estigmasterol (5), e sete alcalóides isoquinolínicos, O-metilmoschatolina (6), lysicamina (7), nornuciferina (8), liriodenina (9), isocoreximina (10), subsessilina (11) e isomoschatolina (12). Suas estruturas foram determinadas através de métodos espectroscópicos. Os compostos 1-6, 11 e 12 são reportados pela primeira vez nesta espécie. Os dados de RMN 13C (ressonância magnética nuclear) para os compostos 11 e 12 são descritos pela primeira vez na literatura. As atividades antiproliferativa em linhagens de células tumorais humanas e antimicrobiana foram investigadas para os compostos majoritários. O composto 9 mostrou significativa atividade contra linhagens de células de mama (MCF-7, Michigan Cancer Foundation-7), superior ao controle positivo doxorrubicina. Mart. afforded twelve compounds, namely two sesquiterpenes, caryophyllene oxide (1) and spathulenol (3), one xanthone, lichexanthone (2), a mixture of steroids, β-sitosterol (4), and stigmasterol (5), and seven isoquinoline alkaloids, O-methylmoschatoline (6), lysicamine (7), nornuciferine (8), liriodenine (9), isocoreximine (10), subsessiline (11), and isomoschatoline (12). Their structures were established on the basis of spectroscopic methods. Compounds 1-6, 11 and 12 were reported for the first time in this species. The 13C NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance) data for the compounds 11 and 12 are described for the first time in the literature. The antiproliferative activity against human tumour cell lines and antimicrobial activities were investigated for the major compounds. Compound 9 showed significant activity against cell lines of breast (MCF-7, Michigan Cancer Foundation-7), superior to the positive control doxorubicin. Compound 12 presented antifungal activity similar to the positive control nystatin against Candida albicans.

O contexto de assistência à saúde vem sendo influenciado por mudanças produzidas no âmbito da tecnologia o que tem gerado diversas inquietações e indagações acerca dos benefícios, riscos e das relações construídas entre trabalhadores, doentes e a utilização de máquinas como instrumentos imprescindíveis ao cuidado. O objetivo deste artigo foi refletir sobre o uso da tecnologia no cuidado de enfermagem ao doente crítico em terapia intensiva. Espera-se com estas reflexões minimizar arestas que permeiam os ambientes tecnologizados como a terapia intensiva e as concepções de cuidado de enfermagem que neste campo da assistência em saúde envolve o uso de máquinas e equipamentos que oferecem suporte avançado de vida
The context of health assistance has been influenced by changes which are produced in the dimension of technology. They have triggered a lot of inquietude and questioning regarding benefits, risks, and relations constructed among workers and sick, and the use of machines as indispensable tools for care. This paper aims at reflecting on the use of technology in nursing care given to the critical sick in the intensive care unit. It is expected that this reflection can minimize doubts which permeate technological environments, such as the intensive care unit, and the conceptions of nursing care since it involves the use of machines and equipment which provide advanced life support in this field of health assistance
El contexto de atención a la salud viene siendo influenciado por cambios producidos en el ámbito de la tecnología lo que tiene generando diversas inquietudes e indagaciones acerca de los beneficios, riesgos y de las relaciones construidas entre trabajadores, enfermo y la utilización de máquinas como instrumentos imprescindibles al cuidado. El objetivo de este artículo fue reflexionar sobre el uso de la tecnología en el cuidado de enfermería al enfermo crítico en terapia intensiva. Se espera con estas reflexiones minimizar aristas que permean los ambientes tecnologizados como la terapia intensiva y las concepciones de cuidado de enfermería que en este campo de la asistencia en salud envuelve el uso de máquinas y equipamientos que ofrecen soporte avanzado de vida
