Abstract: Cellulose nanofibers (CNF) could be obtained from diverse lignocellulosic sources, among them wood. Regarding this, it is important to clarify if the shaft section of the tree could influence the CNF characteristics. This study evaluated cellulose nanofibers from Guazuma crinita (bolaina blanca) obtained at different heights of the longitudinal axis of the shaft of trees from a three-and-a-half-year-old plantation. The wood was subjected to pulping, bleaching and subsequent mechanical milling using a Changsha Samy XYQM-2L planetary ball mill to obtain cellulose nanofibers. The product was characterised using analytical techniques: scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy. Additionally, the degree of polymerisation was determined. The effect of longitudinal position on cellulose nanofibers characteristics was evaluated by comparing means using ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests. The yield of cellulose nanofibers production from the high, middle and basal sections was 32,1 %, 33,6 % and 31 %, respectively. The obtained cellulose nanofibers exhibited a significantly larger diameter for the high zone (84 nm) compared with the middle (75 nm) and basal (69 nm) zones; the length remained above the micrometre range. With respect to degree of polymerisation, a decrease was evidenced with respect to the increase in shaft height; the basal zone exhibited a degree of polymerisation of 300, a significantly higher value than the middle and high zones, which exhibited degree of polymerisation of 249 and 211, respectively. The product showed typical cellulose type I polymorphism and crystallinity indexes of 76 %, 93 % and 96 % for the high, middle and basal sections, respectively. Regarding the thermostability of cellulose nanofibers, the maximum degradation rate of cellulose nanofibers occurred between 335 °C and 341 °C, with cellulose nanofibers from the basal area being the most stable. The adsorption of the methylene blue dye on cellulose nanofibers was evaluated; an efficiency > 60 % was found.

Abstract Objective: The classic triad, which defines IFAP syndrome, is ichthyosis follicularis, alopecia, and photophobia. It is a rare X-linked genetic disorder characterized by multiple congenital anomalies with variable severity, caused by pathogenic variants in the MBTPS2 gene, which encodes a zinc metalloprotease that is essential for normal development. This study aimed to report a case of a Brazilian patient with IFAP syndrome presenting skeletal anomalies, which is a rare finding among patients from different families. Case description: We describe a male proband with IFAP syndrome showing severe ichthyosis congenita, cryptorchidism, limb malformation, and comprising the BRESHECK syndrome features. Using whole-exome sequencing, we identified a rare missense variant in hemizygosity in the MBTPS2 gene, which had not been identified in other family members. Comments: This is the first diagnosis of IFAP syndrome in Brazil with a molecular investigation. The present case study thus expands our knowledge on the mutational spectrum of MBPTS2 associated with IFAP syndrome.

RESUMO Objetivo: A clássica tríade de ictiose folicular, alopecia e fotofobia dá nome a uma síndrome rara de origem genética com herança ligada ao cromossomo X (síndrome IFAP, do inglês Ichthyosis Follicularis, Alopecia, and Photophobia). Esta é uma síndrome caracterizada por múltiplas anomalias congênitas de expressividade variável, causada por variantes patogênicas no gene MBTPS2, que codifica uma zinco-metaloprotease essencial para o desenvolvimento normal humano. O objetivo deste estudo é apresentar o relato de caso de um paciente brasileiro com síndrome IFAP que apresentou anomalias esqueléticas, um achado raro entre os pacientes de diferentes famílias. Descrição do caso: Apresentamos um probando do sexo masculino com síndrome IFAP, com ictiose congênita grave, criptorquidia, malformação de membros e as características da síndrome de BRESHECK. Por meio do sequenciamento do exoma completo, identificamos uma variante rara do tipo missense, em hemizigose, no gene MBTPS2, não identificada em outros membros da família. Comentários: Este é o primeiro diagnóstico de síndrome IFAP no Brasil com investigação molecular. A análise molecular e a descrição de uma variante rara no gene MBPTS2 expandem nosso conhecimento sobre o espectro mutacional desse gene associado à síndrome IFAP.

BACKGROUND The prevalence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants of concern (VOCs) has changed unevenly over time around the world. Although whole genome sequencing is the gold standard for virus characterisation, the discovery of alpha VOC causing spike gene target failure (SGTF) result, when tested using an reverse transcription real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) assay, has provided a simple tool for tracking the frequencies of variants. OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to investigate if a multiplex RT-qPCR assay (BioM 4Plex VOC) could be used to detect SARS-CoV-2 and to perform a VOC screening test in a single reaction tube. Here, we present the multicentre study evaluating this assay. METHODS Twelve laboratories have participated in the multicentre study. The BioM 4Plex VOC was distributed to them with detailed instructions of how to perform the test. They were asked to test the BioM 4Plex VOC in parallel with their routine Commercial SARS-CoV-2 diagnostic assay. Additionally, they were requested to select SARS-CoV-2-positive samples with genome sequenced and lineage definition according to PANGO lineage classification. FINDINGS The BioM 4Plex VOC and commercial RT-PCR assay are equally effective in detecting SARS-CoV-2. Results revealed a specificity of 96.5-100% [95% confidence interval (CI)], a sensitivity of 99.8-100% (95% CI), and an accuracy of 99.8-100% (95% CI). A 99% concordance rate was found between results from the BioM 4Plex VOC and that from available genome sequencing data. MAIN CONCLUSIONS The BioM 4Plex VOC provides an effective solution to detect SARS-CoV-2 infections and screening for VOCs in a single reaction. It is a straightforward method to help us monitor the frequency and distribution of VOCs and develop strategies to better cope with the pandemics.

ABSTRACT Non-glaucomatous papillary cupping constitutes an important differential diagnosis in daily medical practice. There are patients diagnosed and treated as glaucoma, who do not present the disease and are part of the large group of non-glaucomatous optic neuropathies. This case emphasizes directing the diagnostic gaze to these “apparently glaucomatous” optic nerves through a case of periventricular leukomalacia. Resumen: El engagement académico es una característica relevante para predecir las trayectorias académicas exitosas y el rendimiento escolar; sin embargo, existe una carencia de instrumentos validados en Perú para su evaluación. Por ello, el objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar las propiedades psicométricas de la Utrech Work Engagement Scale - 9S (UWES-9S) en adolescentes peruanos: estructura interna, invarianza de medición, asociación con la autoeficacia académica, confiabilidad y normas. Fueron evaluados 868 adolescentes escolares (51.728% mujeres; M edad = 14.263; DE edad = 1.430) procedentes de seis colegios de la Provincia Constitucional del Callao (costa central del Perú). Además de la UWES-9S se utilizó la Escala de Autoeficacia Percibida Específica para Situaciones Académicas como medida de autoeficacia. Los resultados indican que la UWES-9S es unidimensional e invariante entre hombres y mujeres, aunque se eliminaron tres ítems derivando en una nueva versión: UWES-6S. Asimismo, la asociación con la medida de autoeficacia académica fue moderada (r > .50) y se obtuvo normas para hombres y mujeres por separado. Los indicadores de confiabilidad fueron satisfactorios tanto para las puntuaciones (coeficiente alfa y correlación inter-ítem promedio) como para el constructo (coeficiente omega > .80). Se concluye que la UWES-6S cuenta con propiedades psicométricas adecuadas para su aplicación en adolescentes peruanos.

Abstract: Academic engagement is a relevant characteristic to predict successful academic trajectories and school performance; however, there is a lack of validated instruments in Peru for its evaluation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale - 9S (UWES-9S) in Peruvian adolescents: internal structure, measurement invariance, association with academic self-efficacy, reliability, and norms. A total of 868 school adolescents (51.728% women; Mage = 14.263; SDage = 1.430) from six schools in the Constitutional Province of Callao (central coast of Peru) were evaluated. In addition to the UWES-9S, the Specific Perceived Self-Efficacy Scale for Academic Situations was used as a measure of self-efficacy. The results show that the UWES-9S is unidimensional and invariant between men and women, although three items were eliminated, resulting in a new version: UWES-6S. Likewise, the association with academic self-efficacy was moderate (r > .50) and norms were obtained for men and women separately. In addition, the reliability indices were satisfactory for both the scores (alpha coefficient and average inter-item correlation) and the construct (omega coefficient > .80). It is concluded that the UWES-6S has adequate psychometric properties for its application in Peruvian adolescents.

Resumo: O engagement académico é uma característica relevante para prever trajetórias académicas bem-sucedidas e o desempenho escolar, no entanto, faltam instrumentos validados no Perú para a sua avaliação. Portanto, o objetivo deste estudo foi analisar as propriedades psicométricas da Utrecht Work Engagement Scale - 9S (UWES-9S) em adolescentes peruanos: estrutura interna, invariância de medidas, associação com a autoeficácia académica, confiabilidade e normas. Foram avaliados 868 adolescentes escolares (51.728% mulheres; Midade = 14.263; DPidade = 1.430) de seis colégios da Província Constitucional de Callao (costa central do Perú). Além da UWES-9S, foi utilizada a Escala de Autoeficácia Percebida Específica para Situações Académicas como medida de autoeficácia. Os resultados mostram que a UWES-9S é unidimensional e invariável entre homens e mulheres, embora três itens tenham sido eliminados, resultando numa nova versão: UWES-6S. A associação com a autoeficácia académica foi moderada (r > 0,50) e as normas foram obtidas para homens e mulheres separadamente. Além disso, os índices de confiabilidade foram satisfatórios tanto para as pontuações (coeficiente alfa e correlação média entre itens) quanto para o constructo (coeficiente ómega > .80). Conclui-se que a UWES-6S possui propriedades psicométricas adequadas para sua aplicação em adolescentes peruanos.

RESUMO Crianças e adolescentes com deficiência física apresentam desafios motores e socioemocionais que interferem na qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde e os colocam em maior risco de desenvolver doenças secundárias. Além disso, estão mais sujeitos a restrições de serviços adequados que ofereçam terapias, principalmente para a população de baixa renda social. Torna-se necessário oferecer ações voltadas para a promoção da saúde em um sentido mais amplo, oferecendo não só meios de habilitação e reabilitação física, mas também de ganhos sociais e emocionais. Este objetivo pode ser atingido com esportes adaptados e atividades recreativas nos quais o condicionamento físico é acompanhado por ganhos em autoestima e benefícios sociais. Com a pandemia de COVID-19 e o isolamento social, crianças e adolescentes com deficiência física ficaram ainda mais privados de assistência. Relatamos aqui o esforço de uma organização não-governamental esportiva em manter o atendimento físico e psicológico por meio de consultas virtuais, e avaliamos as percepções das partes interessadas no processo. ABSTRACT Children and adolescents with physical disabilities have motor and social-emotional challenges that interfere with their health-related quality of life and put them at greater risk of developing secondary conditions. Moreover, services that provide them therapies are more likely to be restricted, especially for the low-income population. There must be broader actions towards health promotion, offering not only means for physical habilitation and rehabilitation but for social and emotional improvements as well. This goal is attainable by adaptive sports and recreational activities where physical conditioning is accompanied by an improvement in self-esteem and social benefits. With the COVID-19 pandemic and social isolation, children and adolescents with physical disabilities were even further deprived of assistance. Our aim was to report the efforts of a non-governmental sports organization in maintaining physical and psychological care through virtual consultations and to analyze the perceptions of those affected by the process. Abstract The aim of this cross-sectional study was to assess whether favorable factors related to school characteristics have a positive effect on the impact of traumatic dental injury (TDI) on oral health-related quality of life (OHRQoL). An epidemiological survey of oral health was conducted with 12-year-old schoolchildren from Quito, Ecuador. Children were examined for TDI, dental caries, and malocclusion. Individual socioeconomic data were also collected. Information on the physical environment, health practices, and occurrence of negative episodes at school was collected from the school coordinators. The Child Perceptions Questionnaire 11-14 (CPQ11-14) was used to evaluate the OHRQoL (outcome variable). Multilevel Poisson regression analysis was conducted. Severe TDI was associated with higher CPQ11-14 scores, even in the multiple model adjusted for oral health conditions, sex, individual socioeconomic variables, and school-related variables. Children from schools that had an appropriate tooth-brushing environment for their students exhibited a lower impact on OHRQoL, even after adjustment for the occurrence of TDI and other variables. A favorable school environment may exert a positive effect on OHRQoL, independent of the occurrence of TDI.

Abstract. Phytopathogenic fungi can cause economic losses. The application of natural products from species of the genus Agave is an alternative for controlling these organisms. The present study aimed to determine the phytochemical profile of Agave angustifolia and A. cupreata extracts and to evaluate their antifungal activity against several species of phytopathogenic fungi. The aqueous extract from A. angustifolia and the acetonic extract from A. cupreata were studied. The phytochemical profile was determined by thin-layer chromatography. Mycelial growth inhibition and spore production were evaluated. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, and triterpenes. The acetonic extract of A. cupreata inhibited 76, 60, and 59% of the mycelial growth of Lasiodiplodia viticola, Colletotrichum sp., and Epicoccum sorghinum, respectively, at 8 and 16 mg mL-1 (p≤0.05), while spore production decreased by 92 and 86 % (p≤0.001) for Fusarium subglutinans and Colletotrichum sp., respectively. The aqueous extract of A. angustifolia inhibited 40% of the mycelial growth of E. sorghinum at 16 mg mL-1 (p≤0.05) and reduced the spore production of L. viticola by 35% (p≤0.001). The results indicate that the extracts under study can be an alternative source of antifungal compounds.

Resumen. Los hongos fitopatógenos pueden causar pérdidas económicas. La aplicación de productos naturales de especies del género Agave constituye una alternativa para el control de estos organismos. El objetivo del presente trabajo fue determinar el perfil fitoquímico de extractos de Agave angustifolia y A. cupreata, así como evaluar su actividad antifúngica contra varias especies de hongos fitopatógenos. Se obtuvo el extracto acuoso de las hojas de A. angustifolia y acetónico de A. cupreata. El perfil fitoquímico se determinó por cromatografía en capa fina y se evaluó la inhibición del crecimiento micelial y producción de esporas. El tamizaje reveló la presencia de alcaloides, flavonoides, saponinas y triterpenos. El extracto acetónico de A. cupreata inhibió el 76, 60 y 59% del crecimiento micelial de Lasiodiplodia viticola, Colletotrichum sp., y Epicoccum sorghinum respectivamente a 8 y 16 mg mL-1 (p≤0.05), mientras que el porcentaje de producción de esporas disminuyó 92 y 86 % (p≤0.001) para Fusarium subglutinans y Colletotrichum sp., respectivamente. El extracto acuoso de A. angustifolia inhibió 40% del crecimiento micelial de E. sorghinum a 16 mg mL-1 (p≤0.05) y disminuyó en 35% (p≤0.001) la producción de esporas de L. viticola. Los resultados indicaron que los extractos representan una alternativa para obtención de compuestos antifúngicos.

Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic has had catastrophic consequences worldwide in different scopes, such as healthcare, education, housing, among others. As an important consequence, it revealed the fragility of social protection systems in Latin America, as depicted in the lack of alternative mechanisms to respond to the complex demands raised by the pandemics. As for healthcare systems, all efforts were focused in COVID-19 patients, leaving aside other patients, as bedridden patients who used to receive complementary attention at home, causing a big deal of stress to their informal home care providers. This research analyzes the perceptions, challenges, and expectations of informal care providers in this pandemic context. Throughout a six-month period, 12 semi structured interviews were performed online. The information was analyzed based on the principles of Grounded Theory, showing this has been a period particularly negative for informal care providers, as the offer of support public services has been diminished, increasing the perception of abandonment and vulnerability. Public policies to be developed are also discussed.

Resumen La pandemia COVID ha tenido consecuencias catastróficas a nivel mundial en diversos ámbitos: salud, educación, vivienda, entre otras. Una de ellas fue revelar la fragilidad de los sistemas de protección social en países latinoamericanos, plasmada en la falta de mecanismos alternativos para atender las complejas demandas que la pandemia trajo. Respecto de los sistemas de salud, todos sus esfuerzos se han concentrado en pacientes COVID-19, relegando a aquellos adultos (mayores) dependientes quienes solían recibir atención complementaria en sus hogares. Este hecho, ha provocado un gran estrés en sus cuidadores informales y familia en general. La presente investigación analizó las percepciones, desafíos y expectativas de cuidadores informales en el contexto de pandemia. Se realizaron 12 entrevistas semiestructuradas online durante seis meses. La información analizada mediante los principios de la Teoría Fundada muestra que el periodo ha sido particularmente negativo para los cuidadores a nivel de oferta de servicios públicos de apoyo y organización familiar, además de incrementar la percepción de abandono y vulnerabilidad de estos. Se discute en torno a la necesidad de desarrollar políticas públicas específicas para este grupo.

Resumen La criptococosis meníngea presenta alta mortalidad mundial, especialmente en población VIH/sida. La OMS recomienda detectar el antígeno capsular de Crypto coccus como estrategia para un diagnóstico temprano y poder minimizar complicaciones. Objetivo: realizar antigenemia temprana de Cryptococcus mediante in munocromatografía/ensayo de flujo lateral en pacientes asintomáticos VIH+. Material y método: estudio descriptivo observacional; entre julio-2016 y mayo-2019 se procesaron mediante ensayo de flujo lateral, muestras de suero de 169 pacientes asintomáticos VIH+, con CD4 ≤120 cel/μL en Barranquilla, Colombia. Ante resultado positivo, se indicó profilaxis con fluconazol; se hizo seguimiento a todos los casos. Resultados: la antigenemia fue positiva en cinco pacientes (2,96%); uno falleció, cuatro recibieron profilaxis y la prueba se negativizó en dos. Los pacientes con resultado negativo inicial no desarrollaron durante el estudio sinto matología compatible con esta micosis. Discusión: el ensayo de flujo lateral de Cryptococcus está recomendado para el diagnóstico temprano de la criptococosis en población VIH/sida. Conclusión: detectar tempranamente el antígeno circulante de Cryptococcus mediante ensayo de flujo lateral en pacientes asintomáticos VIH+, permitió instaurar profilaxis oportuna, hacer seguimiento y control para reducir la mortalidad asociada con la criptococosis meníngea.

Abstract Meningeal cryptococcosis presents high levels of global mortality, especially in the HIV/AIDS population. The WHO recommends detecting the capsular antigen as an important strategy for early diagnosis and be able to minimize complications. Objective: Perform early cryptococcal antigenemia by immunochromatographic/ lateral flow assay in asymptomatic HIV+ patients. Material and method: descriptive observational study; between July-2016 and May-2019, serum samples from 169 asymptomatic HIV+ patients with CD4 ≤120 cells/μL were processed by lateral flow assay in Barranquilla, Colombia. Given a positive result, prophylaxis with fluconazole was indicated; all cases were followed up. Results: antigenemia was positive in five (2.96%) patients; one died; four received prophylaxis, and the test turned negative in two. The patients with an initial negative result, did not developed symptoms compatible with this mycosis during the study period. Discussion: lateral flow assay for Cryptococcus is recommended for the early diagnosis of cryptococcosis in the HIV/AIDS population. Conclusion: early detection of circulating Cryptococcus antigen by lateral flow assay in HIV+ patients allowed the establishment of timely prophylaxis, follow-up, and control to reduce mortality associated with meningeal cryptococcosis.

RESUMEN En la producción de hortalizas en la Región Caribe no existe una organización de cadena productiva lo cual se manifiesta en la distribución inequitativa del valor agregado y la baja competitividad. Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo determinar los aspectos que impiden la integración de la cadena de valor de las hortalizas en la Región Caribe de Colombia. La usencia de la integración de los componentes vuelve ineficiente a la producción y por esta razón se justifica la realización de un estudio que determine los factores que frenan la integración de la cadena. La información se obtuvo de 63 encuestas aplicadas a una muestra seleccionada mediante la técnica de muestreo aleatorio simple. Se construyó una base de datos y se aplicaron técnicas estadísticas como: descriptivas, análisis de correlación, tablas de contingencia y el diseño de un modelo econométrico tipo Logit que permitió medir la probabilidad de integración de la cadena y la contribución de cada una de las variables en la explicación de la situación. Los resultados muestran que los eslabones no están integrados, no comparten información principalmente entre agricultores y consumidores. Se concluye que los actores actúan de forma independiente tratando de sacar el mejor provecho individual sin que se persiga aumentos del valor dentro de la cadena y con distribución inequitativa de los beneficios de la producción.

ABSTRACT In the production of vegetables in the Caribbean Region there is no production chain organization, which is manifested in the unequal distribution of added value and low competitiveness. The objective of this work was to determine the aspects that impede the integration of the vegetable value chain in the Caribbean Region of Colombia. The absence of the integration of the components makes production inefficient and for this reason a study is justified to determine the factors that slow down the integration of the chain. The information was obtained from 63 surveys applied to a sample selected using the simple random sampling technique. A database was built and statistical techniques were applied such as: descriptive, correlation analysis, contingency tables and the design of a Logit-type econometric model that made it possible to measure the probability of integration of the chain and the contribution of each of the variables. in explaining the situation. The results show that the links are not integrated, they do not share information mainly between farmers and consumers. It is concluded that the actors act independently trying to get the best individual benefit without pursuing increases in value within the chain and with unequal distribution of the benefits of production.

Abstract A study of several configurations of numerical forecast models was conducted to evaluate their skill to forecast tropical cyclones track and intensity. For this, four configurations of the horizontal domain were selected with 27-9 and 18-6 km of resolution for HWRF (Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting Model) and four configurations for the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting Model), using the dynamic core NMM (Non-hydrostatic Mesoscale Model) with the vortex tracker option. Simulations corresponding to Hurricane Irma were done from 1st to 12th September 2017, initialized with GFS (Global Forecast System) forecast outputs. No notable differences were observed between the eight configurations, although the forecast of the intensity of Hurricane Irma was deficient, with an error in the forecast of the maximum wind speed above 50 km/h. The comparison of the outputs of each configuration with buoys and surface meteorological stations data showed that the behavior of the wind speed and atmospheric pressure variables has a similar tendency to the registered values in the stations, with errors lower than 3.8 m/s for wind speed and 3 hPa for atmospheric pressure. HWRF 18-6-m (referred to the model and the horizontal domain resolution) was the configuration that showed the best ability for tropical cyclones forecast, although it require large time to compute.

Resumen Se realizó un estudio de caso de varias configuraciones de modelos de pronóstico numérico para evaluar la habilidad de los mismos en el pronóstico de la intensidad y trayectoria de los ciclones tropicales. Para ello se seleccionaron 4 configuraciones del dominio de cómputo con 27-9 y 18-6 km de resolución para el HWRF (Hurricane Weather Research and Forecasting Model) y 4 configuraciones para el WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting Model), empleando el núcleo dinámico NMM (Non-hydrostatic Mesoscale Model) con la opción de seguimiento de vórtice. Se realizaron las simulaciones correspondientes al huracán Irma desde el 1ro al 12 de septiembre del 2017 inicializadas con salidas de pronóstico del GFS (Global Forecast System). En la evaluación realizada no se observaron diferencias notables entre las 8 configuraciones, aunque fue deficiente el pronóstico de la intensidad del huracán Irma, con un error en el pronóstico de la velocidad máxima del viento superior a los 50 km/h. La comparación de las salidas de cada configuración con los registros de las boyas y estaciones meteorológicas de superficie evidenció que el comportamiento de las variables viento y presión atmosférica tiene una tendencia similar a los valores registrados en las estaciones, con errores inferiores a los 3.8 m/s para la velocidad del viento y 3 hPa para la presión atmosférica. La configuración que mostró mejor habilidad para el pronóstico de ciclones tropicales fue HWRF_18-6-m (referida al modelo y la resolución horizontal empleada), aunque es la que más capacidad de cómputo requiere.

Abstract Multisystem inflammatory syndrome temporally associated with COVID-19 (MIS-C) is a post-infectious complication described in children and adolescents with previous exposure to SARS-CoV-2. Because of its potential to evolve to severe disease -including cardiovascular impairment and multiple organ failure it requires a prompt diagnosis and appropriate management, including intensive care for most cases. These guidelines compile recent information from scientific literature, from our local clinical experiences during the past pandemic year, and have been discussed by experts. The recommendations provided are meant to help the clinical work of health teams attending the pediatric population.

Resumen El síndrome inflamatorio multisistémico asociado a COVID-19 (SIM-COVID-19) es una complicación post-infecciosa descrita en niños y adolescentes con antecedente de exposición a SARS-CoV-2. Su potencial de evolución clínica grave, con compromiso hemodinámico y de falla de múltiples órganos lo convierten en una identidad que requiere de sospecha temprana, rápido diagnóstico y manejo adecuado, incluyendo terapia intensiva en la mayoría de los casos. Las siguientes recomendaciones recopilan información de la literatura científica, de la experiencia nacional en este año de pandemia y han sido consensuadas con expertos. Se presentan como guías de manejo de modo de facilitar el trabajo de equipos de salud a cargo de la atención pediátrica.
