Abstract Dental hard tissue conditions can be of pre- or post-eruptive nature, such as enamel fluorosis and erosive tooth wear (ETW), respectively. Dental enamel fluorosis is caused by the chronic and excessive intake of fluoride during enamel development, leading to increased fluoride concentration and increased porosity. ETW has become a common clinical condition and often impairs dental function and aesthetics. This in vitro study tested the hypothesis that fluorotic enamel presents different susceptibility to dental erosion-abrasion. It consisted of a 3×3×2 factorial design, considering a) fluorosis severity: sound (TF0), mild (TF1-2), moderate (TF3-4); b) abrasive challenge: low, medium, and high; and c) erosive challenge: yes or no. A total of 144 human teeth were selected according to the three fluorosis severity levels (n=48), and subdivided into six groups (n = 8) generated by the association of the different erosive and abrasive challenges. Enamel blocks (4×4 mm) were prepared from each tooth and their natural enamel surfaces subjected to an erosion-abrasion cycling model. After cycling, the depth of the lesions in enamel was assessed by profilometry. ANOVA showed that the three-way and two-way interactions among the factors were not significant (p > 0.20). Enamel fluorosis level (p=0.638) and abrasion level (p = 0.390) had no significant effect on lesion depth. Acid exposure caused significantly more enamel surface loss than water (p < 0.001). Considering the limitations of this in vitro study, fluorosis did not affect the susceptibility of enamel to dental erosion-abrasion.

Abstract: This study tested a novel in vitro dental erosion-abrasion model and the performance of cross-polarization optical coherence tomography (CP-OCT) in longitudinally monitoring the simulated lesions. Thirty human enamel specimens were prepared and randomized to receive three dental erosion-abrasion (EA) protocols: severe (s-EA, lemon juice/pH:2.5/4.25%w/v citric acid), moderate (m-EA, grapefruit juice/pH:3.5/1.03%w/v citric acid) and no-EA (water, control). EA challenge was performed by exposing the specimens to acidic solutions 4x/day and to brushing 2x/day with 1:3 fluoridated toothpaste slurry, for 14 days. Enamel thickness measurements were obtained using CP-OCT at baseline (D0), 7 (D7) and 14 days (D14) and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) at D14. Enamel surface loss was measured with both CP-OCT and optical profilometry at D0, D7 and D14. Data was analyzed with repeated-measures ANOVA and Pearson's correlation (r) (α = 0.05). CP-OCT enamel thickness decreased over time in the s-EA group (D0 >D7 > D14, p < 0.001) and m-EA group (D0 > D14, p = 0.019) but did not change in the no-EA group (p = 0.30). Overall, CP-OCT and micro-CT results at D14 correlated moderately (r = 0.73). CP-OCT surface loss was highest for s-EA (p <0.001) but did not differ between moderate and no-EA (p = 0.25). Enamel surface loss with profilometry increased with severity (no-EA>m-EA>s-EA, p < 0.001). D14 surface loss was higher than D7 for both methods except for the no-EA group with profilometry. CP-OCT and profilometry had moderate overall correlation (r = 0.70). Our results revealed that the currently proposed in vitro dental erosion-abrasion model is valid and could simulate lesions of different severities over time. CP-OCT was a suitable method for monitoring the EA lesions.

ABSTRACT The aim of this experimental study was to evaluate acute responses to oxidative stress (OS) after a single session of two HIIT protocols. 24 Wistar rats were divided into three groups (n= 8): sedentary control (SC), HIIT with a 7-minute volume (LW) and HIIT with 14-min (HW). After the protocol, blood was collected for the measurement of uric acid (UA), and the liver and the gastrocnemius muscle were collected for OS assessment by measuring malondialdehyde (MDA) and total antioxidant capacity (FRAP). The LW and HW groups showed a reduction in hepatic MDA (51.9 and 29.9%; p< 0.05) compared to SC. However, the muscle of the HW group increased the MDA (12.6%; p< 0.05) compared to SC. As for FRAP, LW and HW reduced values (78.3 and 75.3%; p< 0.05) compared to SC, respectively. UA in the LW group was higher when compared to SC (64.7%; p< 0.05), HW group was similar to SC (p> 0.05). Among the different HIIT protocols, the LW group showed an increase in UA compared to the HW group (44%; p< 0.05). Compared to SC, the LW and HW groups did not promote acute OS in the liver tissue. However, HW caused OS in muscle tissue after a single exercise session.

SUMMARY: High-intensity physical exercises can cause oxidative stress and muscle damage. Several medicinal plants have been used as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agents. The present study evaluated high-intensity resistance exercise (HIRE) associated with Schinus Terebentifholius ethanolic extract (EE) on oxidative parameters and muscle damage in Wistar rats. Animals were divided into 04 groups (n=10/group): 1. Control (CG) - animals that did not undergo HIRE and were treated with vehicle (distilled water, orally); 2. Acute exercise (AE) - animals submitted to acute exercise session; 3. Exercise + vehicle (EV) - animals that underwent HIRE and were treated with vehicle and 4. Exercise + extract (EX) animals administered with Schinus terebenthifolius EE (100mg/Kg, orally) and submitted to the exercise session. Schinus terebenthifolius EE showed high in vitro antioxidant activity (13.88 ± 0.36 mg/mL). Before the experimental period, lactate was measured at pre and post moments of AE (p<0.0001) and EX (p<0.0001) groups. After the acute session, the following were evaluated: oxidative stress {malondialdehyde (MDA), sulfhydryl groups (SH) and ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP)}, muscle damage (creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST). In the in vivo analyses of the EX group compared to AE and EV groups, respectively: hepatic (MDA: p<0.0001 and SH: p=0.0033, in both; FRAP: p=0.0011 and p=0.0047), muscle (MDA, SH and FRAP: p<0.0001, in both; CK: p=0.0001 and p<0.0001; LDH: p<0.0001, in both), serum levels (MDA: p=0.0003, p=0.0012, SH: p=0.0056, p=0.0200, FRAP: p=0.0017 and p=0.0165) were significant. There was no significant difference in ALT and AST markers. It could be concluded that Schinus terebenthifolius EE associated with HIRE attenuated oxidative stress and muscle damage in rats.

RESUMEN: Los ejercicios físicos de alta intensidad pueden causar estrés oxidativo y daño muscular. Varias plantas medicinales se han utilizado como agentes antioxidantes y antiinflamatorios. El presente estudio evaluó el ejercicio de resistencia de alta intensidad (HIRE) asociado con el extracto etanólico (EE) de Schinus terebentifholius sobre los parámetros oxidativos y el daño muscular en ratas Wistar. Los animales se dividieron en 4 grupos (n=10/grupo): 1. Control (GC) - animales que no se sometieron a HIRE y fueron tratados con vehículo (agua destilada, por vía oral); 2. Ejercicio agudo (AE) - animales sometidos a sesión de ejercicio agudo; 3. Ejercicio + vehículo (EV) - animales que se sometieron a HIRE y fueron tratados con vehículo y 4. Ejercicio + extracto (EX) animales administrados con Schinus terebenthifolius EE (100 mg/kg, por vía oral) y sometidos a la sesión de ejercicio. Schinus terebenthifolius EE mostró una alta actividad antioxidante in vitro (13,88 ± 0,36 mg/mL). Antes del período experimental, se midió el lactato en los momentos pre y post de los grupos AE (p<0,0001) y EX (p<0,0001). Tras la sesión aguda, se evaluaron: el estrés oxidativo malondialdehído (MDA), grupos sulfhidrilo (SH) y poder antioxidante reductor férrico (FRAP), daño muscular (creatina quinasa (CK) y lactato deshidrogenasa (LDH)), alanina aminotransferasa (ALT) y aspartato aminotransferasa (AST). En los análisis in vivo del grupo EX frente a los grupos AE y EV, respectivamente: hepático (MDA: p<0,0001 y SH: p=0,0033, en ambos; FRAP: p=0,0011 y p=0,0047), muscular (MDA, SH y FRAP: p<0,0001, en ambos; CK: p=0,0001 y p<0,0001; LDH: p<0,0001, en ambos), niveles séricos (MDA: p=0,0003, p=0,0012, SH: p=0,0056, p=0,0200, FRAP: p=0,0017 y p=0,0165) fueron significativas. No hubo diferencia significativa en los marcadores ALT y AST. Se podría concluir que Schinus terebenthifolius EE asociado con HIRE atenuó el estrés oxidativo y el daño muscular en ratas.

Abstract This study's objective was to evaluate the effect of storage time (-18 ± 1 °C/60 days) under colorimetric, physicochemical, and lipid oxidation parameters in sheep meat sausages with oil pre-emulsified linseed to replace animal fat. Five formulations have been developed; the control sausage (0%) and four fat replacement levels with pre-emulsified linseed oil: 10, 20, 30, and 40%. Color analysis s (L *, a * and b *), determination of the total colorimetric difference (CD), water activity (Aw), pH, moisture, water retention capacity (WRC), and lipid oxidation through the number of substances reactive to thiobarbituric acid (TBARS), where all analysis were determined at intervals of 0, 20, 40 and 60 days of storage. The treatment, the storage time, and the interaction between these factors significantly affected (P < .0001) most of the studied parameters. The TBARS values were affected by the treatment (P < .0001) and by the storage days (P < .0001), with an interaction between these factors (P < .0001). However, it is suggested that the replacement of animal fat with pre-emulsified linseed oil was a viable strategy without causing detrimental effects on the product's quality during the storage period.

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever a construção de uma tecnologia gerencial voltada à implementação da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem em serviços de enfermagem. Método: Estudo metodológico, qualitativo e explicativo, sustentado no referencial normativo e legal da Resolução COFEN nº 358/2009. Compreendeu a construção teórica de instrumentos para a prática ancorados na literatura e na expertise de um grupo de 40 enfermeiros, entre os meses de abril de 2020 e junho de 2021. Resultados: A tecnologia está delineada a partir das dimensões método, pessoal e instrumentos de enfermagem que sustentam o tripé da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem. É constituída por um modelo explicativo de uma matriz de gestão operacional e de um instrumento do tipo checklist para o acompanhamento/monitoramento da gestão da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem nos serviços. Conclusão A tecnologia gerencial se insere como uma solução para melhorar a performance organizacional, a atenção à saúde, o apoio às decisões clínicas, o planejamento, a administração, a organização dos serviços e a prática profissional, e criar condições favoráveis para a aplicação do Processo de Enfermagem em sua plenitude.

ABSTRACT Objective: To describe the construction of a management technology aimed at implementing the Systematization of Nursing Care in nursing services. Method: This is a methodological, qualitative and explanatory study, based on the normative and legal framework of COFEN Resolution 358/2009. It comprised the theoretical construction of instruments for practice anchored in the literature and expertise of a group of 40 nurses, between April 2020 and June 2021. Results: The technology is outlined from the dimensions of method, personnel and nursing instruments that support the Systematization of Nursing Care tripod. It consists of an explanatory model of an operational management matrix and a checklist-type instrument for follow-up/monitoring of Systematization of Nursing Care management in services. Conclusion: Management technology is inserted as a solution to improve organizational performance, health care, clinical decision support, planning, administration, organization of services and professional practice, and create favorable conditions for applying the Process of Nursing at its fullest.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Describir la construcción de una tecnología de gestión dirigida a implementar la Sistematización de la Atención de Enfermería en los servicios de enfermería. Método: Estudio metodológico, cualitativo y explicativo, sustentado en el marco normativo y legal de la Resolución COFEN nº 358/2009. Comprendió la construcción teórica de instrumentos para la práctica anclados en la literatura y la experiencia de un grupo de 40 enfermeros, entre abril de 2020 y junio de 2021. Resultados: La tecnología se perfila a partir de las dimensiones de método, personal e instrumentos de enfermería que sustentan el trípode de la Sistematización de la Atención de Enfermería. RESUMO Analisar as implicações da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem na prática profissional brasileira. Estudo teórico e de caráter reflexivo, que elencou como categorias analíticas o marco regulador da sistematização, as implicações na prática profissional, os limites e as possibilidades. Identificou-se nos marcos legais uma evolução da compreensão sobre a Sistematização, o que resultou em atualização na resolução que trata da temática. Ressalta-se que as implicações na prática profissional podem ser elucidadas quando forem melhor compreendidos os conceitos de método, pessoal e instrumentos, os três pilares da Sistematização, uma vez que eles não possuem definições conceituais e operacionais na atual resolução. A falta de clareza conceitual acerca do termo, bem como a escassez de definições conceituais e operacionais de seus pilares e de elementos constituintes, têm dificultado a compreensão da Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem, impactando na percepção de sua contribuição à prática profissional, visto que não raramente é utilizada como sinônimo de Processo de Enfermagem. A produção de conhecimento acerca da Sistematização deve considerar seus limites e possibilidades. Dessa forma, contribuindo para a demarcação da produção de conhecimento que seja representativa desse objeto epistemológico.

ABSTRACT To analyze the implications of the Nursing Care Systematization in Brazilian professional practice. Theoretical and reflective study, which listed as analytical categories the regulatory framework of systematization, the implications for professional practice, the limits and possibilities. In the legal frameworks, an evolution of understanding about Systematization was identified, which resulted in an update in the resolution that deals with the theme. It is emphasized that the implications for professional practice can be elucidated when the concepts, method, personnel and instruments are better understood, the three pillars of systematization, since they do not have conceptual and operational definitions in the current resolution. The lack of conceptual clarity about the term, as well as the lack of conceptual and operational definitions of its pillars and constituent elements, have made the understanding of the Nursing Care Systematization difficult, impacting the perception of its contribution to professional practice, since it is not rarely used as a synonym for the Nursing Process. The production of knowledge about Systematization must consider its limits and possibilities. Thus, contributing to the demarcation of the production of knowledge that is representative of this epistemological object.

RESUMEN El objetivo es analizar las implicaciones de la Sistematización de la Atención de Enfermería en la práctica profesional brasileña. Se trata de un estudio teórico y reflexivo que enumeró como categorías analíticas, el marco normativo de la sistematización, las implicaciones en la práctica profesional, sus límites y posibilidades. Se identificó una evolución de la comprensión sobre la Sistematización en los marcos legales, trayendo consigo una actualización de la resolución que trata sobre el tema. Cabe destacar que las implicaciones en la práctica profesional pueden dilucidarse cuando se entienden mejor los conceptos del método, del personal y de los instrumentos, los tres pilares de la Sistematización, ya que no existen definiciones conceptuales y operativas en la resolución actual. La falta de claridad conceptual sobre el término, así como la escasez de definiciones conceptuales y operativas de sus pilares y elementos constituyentes, han dificultado la comprensión de la Sistematización de la Atención de Enfermería, impactando en la percepción de su aporte a la práctica profesional, ya que muchas veces se utiliza como sinónimo de Proceso de Enfermería. La producción de conocimiento sobre la Sistematización debe considerar sus límites y posibilidades, contribuyendo, así, a la demarcación de la producción de conocimiento que represente a este objeto epistemológico.

Resumo A seleção de porta-enxertos com características de interesse, como resistência a pragas e doenças, e compatibilidade com copa capaz de produzir frutos atrativos ao mercado, revolucionou as frutíferas em todo o mundo. No entanto, o enorme potencial das plantas de serem selecionadas com base em sua eficiência de absorção de nutrientes ainda não foi devidamente explorado; isso pode ser feito com base no conhecimento dos parâmetros cinéticos, como influxo, velocidade máxima de absorção, constante de afinidade do íon com o transportador e concentração mínima. A adaptação de uma metodologia elaborada para safras anuais, para definição de parâmetros cinéticos, bem como o desenvolvimento brasileiro do software Influx possibilitaram não só selecionar porta-enxertos de pessegueiro com diferentes capacidades de absorção de nutrientes, mas também observar a influência da enxertia de uma determinada cultivar copa na capacidade do porta-enxerto de absorver determinado nutriente do solo. Assim, porta-enxertos e cultivares de árvores frutíferas sempre podem ser selecionados com base em características desejadas pelos fruticultores e consumidores, com ênfase na produtividade e na qualidade dos frutos. Eles também podem ser mais eficientes na absorção de nutrientes de solos de baixa fertilidade natural que requerem maiores quantidades de nutrientes, fato que pode aumentar a racionalização do uso de fertilizantes e reduzir os processos de contaminação ambiental resultantes de aplicações excessivas de nutrientes.

Abstract The selection of rootstocks presenting traits of interest, such as resistance to pests and diseases, and compatibility with scion capable of producing fruits attractive to the market, has revolutionized fruit crops worldwide. However, the enormous potential of plants to be selected based on their nutrient uptake efficiency is yet to be properly explored; it can be done based on knowledge about kinetic parameters such as Influx, Maximum uptake velocity, Constant ion affinity with the carrier, and Minimum concentration. The adaptation of a methodology elaborated for annual crops to set kinetic parameters, as well as the Brazilian development of the Influx software, enabled selecting not only peach rootstocks with different nutrient uptake capacities, but also observing the influence the grafting of a particular cultivar crown has on rootstock’s ability to uptake a given nutrient from the soil. Thus, fruit tree rootstocks and cultivars can always be selected based on traits desired by fruit growers and consumers, with emphasis on yield and quality of fruits. They can also be more efficient in taking up nutrients from low natural-fertility soils that require lower nutrient amounts, a fact that increases fertilizer use rationalization and reduces environmental contamination processes resulting from excessive nutrient applications.

Resumen Introducción El partograma es la representación gráfica del trabajo de parto desde el inicio de su evolución, lo que permite visualizar los cambios durante el proceso de parto. Objetivo Identificar los conocimientos relacionados con el partograma por parte de los enfermeros y médicos de una clínica de maternidad. Materiales y métodos Se realizó un estudio transversal con enfermeros y médicos de una clínica de maternidad del noreste de Brasil. La muestra estuvo compuesta por 8 enfermeros y 39 médicos. Resultados Se observó que la mayoría del personal de salud han tomado cursos o capacitación relacionados con el instrumento en mención. Sin embargo, en el 27.6% de los casos hay dudas sobre el manejo del partograma. La sobrecarga laboral, la falta de conocimiento para diligenciar el instrumento y la falta de continuidad contribuyeron a esta problemática. En cuanto a las situaciones en las que se debe usar el instrumento, se mencionó a las mujeres que se encuentran en trabajo de parto en fase activa y en el trabajo de parto normal. Discusión La importancia y necesidad del partograma durante el trabajo de parto es indiscutible. La información que se obtiene a través de este instrumento guía al profesional en los siguientes pasos del parto. Conclusión Se considera que el uso del partograma es esencial en el trabajo de parto y que el conocimiento sobre su manejo es crítico en la práctica. Sin embargo, el uso del instrumento es incipiente en la maternidad.

Abstract Introduction A partograph is the graphic representation of labor from its early stages, which allows observing the changes during the labor process. Objective To determine partograph-related knowledge among nurses and doctors in a maternity hospital. Materials and Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted with nurses and doctors from a maternity hospital in northeastern Brazil. The sample consisted of 8 nurses and 39 doctors. Results Most health professionals have taken courses or training related to the instrument itself. However, there were some doubts about partograph handling in 27.6% of cases. Work overload, lack of knowledge to fill out the instrument and lack of continuity affected this matter. As for the situations in which the instrument should be used, women in active labor and normal labor were listed. Discussion The importance and necessity of partographs during labor are beyond question. The information obtained through this instrument guides professionals through the next steps of labor and delivery. Conclusion The use of partograph is considered essential in labor and knowledge related to its handling is critical in practical settings. However, the use of this instrument is just beginning in the maternity ward.

RESUMO Introdução O partograma é um traçado de representação gráfica do trabalho de parto que concebe o desencadeamento de sua evolução, permitindo a visualização das alterações no decorrer do partejar. O estudo objetivou descrever o conhecimento sobre partograma por enfermeiros e médicos de uma maternidade escola. Materiais e Métodos Estudo transversal realizado com enfermeiros e médicos em maternidade escola do nordeste brasileiro. A amostra foi constituída por 8 enfermeiros e 39 médicos. Resultados Observou-se que a maior parte já fez curso ou treinamento relacionado à ferramenta. Todavia, em 27,6% dos casos ocorrem dúvidas sobre seu manejo. Sobrecarga no plantão; falta de conhecimento no preenchimento e ausência de continuidade foram considerados aspectos dificultadores. Quanto às situações nas quais se deve abrir o instrumento, as mais citadas foram gestantes em trabalho de parto na fase ativa e trabalho de parto normal. Discussão É indiscutível a importância e necessidade do partograma no decorrer do trabalho de parto. As informações retiradas a partir dele orientam o profissional para os próximos passos a serem seguidos. Conclusão: Acredita-se que o uso do partograma é essencial no processo de parto, e que os conhecimentos referentes à sua utilização são fundamentais na prática. Contudo, mesmo na maternidade, o uso da ferramenta é incipiente.

RESUMO Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos de diferentes intensidades de corte sobre as respostas morfológicas e produtivas da palma-forrageira Orelha de Elefante Mexicana (OEM) (Opuntia stricta (Haw.) Haw) em um ciclo de 12 meses, recebendo irrigação suplementar. Foram avaliadas três intensidades de corte: corte preservando apenas o cladódio-mãe (CMOTH), corte preservando os cladódios primários (CPRIM) e corte preservando os cladódios secundários (CSEC), equivalentes ao índice de área de cladódios residuais (IACr) de 0,08; 0,33 e 0,69, respectivamente. O delineamento experimental foi em blocos casualizados, com oito repetições. As intensidades de corte CPRIM e CSEC proporcionaram maior altura e largura de planta, número total de cladódios e índice de área de cladódio em comparação com o CMOTH. O peso colhido na planta, a produtividade (t de matéria seca ha-1), a taxa de acúmulo de forragem e a eficiência no uso da água foram maiores para o PRIMC e CSEC quando comparada ao CMOTH. A produção de forragem para CMOTH foi 20,92 t MS (material seca) ha-1, enquanto para CPRIM e CSEC foram 37,55 e 33,18 t MS ha-1, respectivamente. Os IAC finais foram 1,23, 2,53 e 3,55 para CMOTH, CSEC e CPRIM, respectivamente. As respostas morfológicas e a produção da palma-forrageira Orelha de Elefante Mexicana recebendo irrigação suplementar são influenciadas pela intensidade de corte, em que cortes menos intensos (preservando os cladódios primários ou secundários) promovem plantas mais altas e largas e maior produção de forragem.

ABSTRACT The objective was to evaluate the effects of different cutting intensities on the morphological responses and forage yield of spineless cactus Orelha de Elefante Mexicana (OEM) (Opuntia stricta (Haw.) Haw) in a 12-month cycle, receiving supplemental irrigation. Three cutting intensities were evaluated: cut preserving only the mother cladode (MOTHC), cut preserving primary cladodes (PRIMC), and cut preserving secondary cladodes (SECC), equivalent to initial residual cladode area index (rCAI) of 0.08, 0.33 and 0.69, respectively. The experiment was a randomized block design with eight replicates. The cutting intensities PRIMC and SECC resulted in higher plant height and width, total cladode number and cladode area index compared to MOTHC. The harvested plant weight, forage yield (t DM ha-1), forage accumulation rate and water use efficiency were greater for PRIMC and SECC in comparison to MOTHC. The forage yield for MOTHC was 20.92 t DM (dry matter) ha-1, while for PRIMC and SECC were 37.55 and 33.18 t DM ha-1, respectively. The final CAI was 1.23, 2.53 and 3.55 for MOTHC, SECC and PRIMC, respectively. Morphological and yield responses of OEM Spineless cactus under supplemental irrigation are influenced by cutting intensities, in which less intense cuts (preserving the primary or secondary cladodes) promote taller and wider plants, and higher forage yield.

ABSTRACT Griseofulvin (GF) and terbinafine (TF) are commonly used drugs to treat dermatophytosis, a fungal infection of the skin. Today there is an increase in drug resistance to these antifungals which highlight the need for alternative synergistic therapies. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of GF and TF were determined against fungi clinical isolates from local hospitals with values ranging 0.03-2.0 µg mL-1 and 0.24-4.0 µg mL-1, respectively. A checkboard test was used to determine the combination of GF:TF which could induce an additive effect against the fungi isolates Multidrug-resistant isolates showed susceptibility after treatment with 16:2 µg mL-1 GF:TF. An MTT assay further verified that GF and TF combinations have greater additive effect against pathological and multidrug-resistant isolates than antifungals alone. Herein we disclose GF:TF combinations that could constitute as a possible new anti-dermatophyte therapy.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliar, por meio de ensaio biomecânico, a resistência e a energia necessária para ocorrência de fratura do fêmur proximal em osso sintético após retirada de um modelo de haste de fêmur proximal (PFN) e comparar os resultados obtidos com técnica de reforço com polimetilmetacrilato (PMMA). Métodos Foram usados 15 ossos sintéticos: cinco unidades para o grupo controle (GC), cinco para o grupo teste sem reforço (GTS) e cinco para grupo teste com reforço (GTC). A análise biomecânica foi feita e simulou queda sobre o trocânter com máquina servo-hidráulica. No GC, o ensaio foi feito com sua integridade intacta. Nos grupos GTS e GTC, foi introduzido um modelo de PFN e os ensaios foram feitos no GTS, após simples retirada do material de síntese, e no GTC, após retirada do mesmo modelo de haste e preenchimento do pertuito no colo com PMMA. Resultado Todos os grupos apresentaram fratura basocervical. O grupo GC apresentou média 1.427,39 Newtons (N) de carga máxima e 10,14 Joules (J) de energia para a ocorrência da fratura. Os grupos GTS e GTC apresentaram 892,14 N e 1.477,80 N de carga máxima e 6,71 J e 11,99 J de energia, respectivamente. Segundo a Anova de Kruskal-Wallis, existe diferença significativa na carga máxima (p = 0,009) e na energia (p = 0,007) entre esses grupos. Conclusão A simples retirada de um PFN em osso sintético apresentou redução significativa da carga máxima e da energia para a ocorrência de fratura, que foram reestabelecidas com uma técnica de reforço com PMMA.

Abstract Objective To evaluate, through biomechanical testing, the resistance to and energy required for the occurrence of proximal femoral fracture in synthetic bone after removal of a proximal femoral nail model (PFN), comparing the results obtained with a reinforcement technique using polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). Methods Fifteen synthetic bones were used: five units for the control group (CG), five for the test group without reinforcement (TGNR), and five for the test group with reinforcement (TGR). The biomechanical analysis was performed simulating a fall on the trochanter using a servo-hydraulic machine. In the GC, the assay was performed with the PFN intact. In the TGNR and TGR groups, a model of PFN was introduced and the tests were performed in the TGNR, after simple removal of the synthesis material, and in the TGR, after removal of the same PFN model and filling of the cavity in the femoral neck with PMMA. Results All groups presented a basicervical fracture. The CG presented a mean of 1427.39 Newtons (N) of maximum load and 10.14 Joules (J) of energy for the occurrence of the fracture. The TGNR and TGR presented 892.14 N and 1477.80 N of maximum load, and 6.71 J and 11.99 J of energy, respectively. According to the Kruskal-Wallis ANOVA, there was a significant difference in the maximum load (p = 0.009) and energy (p = 0.007) between these groups. Conclusion The simple removal of a PFN in synthetic bone showed a significant reduction of the maximum load and energy for the occurrence of fracture, which were re-established with a reinforcement technique using PMMA.
