Este artigo toma como ponto de partida, a emergência contemporânea do tema dos "remanescentes indígenas" e dos "remanescentes dos quilombos" e seus principais aspectos. Para isso, desenvolve uma análise de contraste entre os Parakararú e os Xocó, tomando como ponto de observação suas formas de organização social e construção memorial das diferentes heranças deixas por suas ancestralidades. Seu horizonte teórico é dado pelo problema dos agenciamentos classificatórios da "mistura", categoria de uso corrente, porém com significados distintos para esses grupos sociais. Na análise comparativa entre eles, pode-se perceber que apresentam soluções quase opostas tanto para a situação da "mistura" originária, quanto para as posteriores formas de segmentação.

The starting point of this article is the contemporary emergence of the theme "native remnants" and "remnants of ‘quilombos' (hiding places of slaves)" together with their main aspects. To this effect, it carries out an analysis of contrasts between Pankararus and Xocos based on their social organization and the collective memory of the various heritages left by their ancestors. Its theoretical horizon is defined by classification agents of the "mixture", category of current use, but with meanings that differ according to social group. A comparative analysis shows that solutions can almost be said to be distinct, both for the original "mixture" and for later forms of segmentation.

Dans cet article, on part de l'émergence contemporaine d'études sur "les survivants indigènes" et "les survivants des quilombos" dans leurs aspects principaux. On y fait une analyse opposant les Pankararus aux Xocos, du point de vue de leurs formes d'organisation sociale et de la construction de leur mémoire des différents héritages laissés par leurs ancêtres. Son horizon théorique est issu de la question des compositions classificatoires du brassage, une catégorie assez utilisée, mais qui prend des significations distinctes lorsqu'il s'agit de ces groupes sociaux. On peut y voir qu'ils présentent des solutions presque divergentes entre elles autant pour la situation du brassage originel, que pour les formes de segmentation postérieures.

A Carta Constitucional brasileira de 1988 e a colombiana de 1991, reconheceram pela primeira vez em ambos os casos, um lugar específico para os direitos culturais e fundiários de suas comunidades negras. Nesses dois casos, tais inovações legais e políticas, bastante influenciadas pelo acúmulo das lutas indígenas, responderam a mudanças operadas em seus campos políticos, mas também produziram novas mudanças que atingiram tanto novas realidades locais quanto o campo acadêmico. Esse texto toma por base análises etnográficas de duas situações, uma em cada um desses países, em que agrupamentos rurais de negros estão, além dessa analogia legal, em relação de segmentação, de hibridação e de transferência de conhecimentos estratégicos com comunidades indígenas. A partir desses exemplos etnográficos, é proposto um exercício comparativo cujo objetivo é esboçar um quadro dos novos problemas analíticos e teóricos motivados pelos fluxos de cultura, de estratégias sociais e, hoje, de mediadores entre tais agrupamentos étnicos no Brasil e na Colômbia.

The Brazilian Constitution of 1988 and the colombian of 1991, recognized for the first time in both cases, a especific place for it's black communities cultural and land rights. In this two cases, such legal and political innovations, strongly influenced by the accumulation of indigenous fights, answered to changes made in their political fields, but also produced new changes that reached as much the new local realitys as the academic field. This text takes as basis ethnographical analysis of two situations, one in each of this countries, where of countryside grouping black people are, beyond this legal analogy, into segmentation and hybridation relationship as well as transference of strategycal knowledge with indigenous communities. Starting from this ethnographical examples, we propose a comparative exercise with the objective of drafting a picture of the new analytical and theoretical problems caused by the flow of culture, social strategys and, today, of mediators between such ethnical grouping people in Brazil and Colombia.

Motivado pelos efeitos políticos decorrentes da adoção do termo "remanescentes" na legislação relativa a grupos indígenas e negros rurais, assim como baseado em literatura histórica e etnográfica, este artigo discute os limites analíticos e teóricos da polarização, corrente na literatura de ciências sociais no Brasil, entre os classificadores "raça" e "etnia". Analisa a convergência temática e conceitual de estudos recentes baseados nesses dois classificadores e relativiza a consistência dessa repartição em várias situações sociais documentadas, para propor a idéia de "plasticidade identitária". Esta idéia serve de base a uma reflexão sobre a estreita relação entre produção científica, criação jurídica e ação política, levando à sugestão de se pensar as situações vividas por aquelas comunidades chamadas "remanescentes" em termos de emergência étnica e invenção cultural.

Supported by a reading of the historical and ethnographical literature, this article addresses the political consequences of the adoption of remnants [remanescentes] as a legislative term describing indigenous groups and rural Afro-Brazilian populations, and discusses the analytic and theoretical limits of the current polarization of "race" and "ethnic group" in Brazilian social sciences. Proposing the concept of "plastic identity", it analyzes the thematic and conceptual convergence of recent studies based on these two classifiers and questions the stability of their separation through recourse to a number of documented social situations. This concept allows a reflection on the close relationship between scientific production, juridical training and political action. Finally, a proposal is made to rethink the lifeworlds of communities designated "remnants" in terms of ethnic emergence and cultural invention.
