Abstract This paper is one of the first to propose a research model to assess the quality and satisfaction perceived by low-income Brazilian patients using public healthcare services, under the moderating effect of perceived crowding. The model was evaluated from data obtained from 417 patients, and its proposed relationships and statistics were tested through Structural Equation Modeling using a Partial Least Squares approach (PLS-SEM). To explore the moderating effect of perceived crowding, the sample was divided into two groups and tested by employing multi-group analysis (MGA). The results show that Reliability, Safety, Tangibles, Empathy and Responsiveness have a positive effect on Perceived Healthcare Quality (PHQ), which, in turn, has a marked effect on patient satisfaction (PS), ergo, PHQ acts as antecedent of PS. However, perceived crowding has no moderating effect on any relationship in the model.

Resumo Este trabalho é um dos primeiros a propor um modelo de pesquisa que avalie a qualidade percebida e satisfação de pacientes brasileiros de baixa-renda em relação aos serviços públicos de saúde sob o efeito moderador do crowding percebido. O modelo é avaliado por meio de dados obtidos de 417 pacientes e tanto suas relações propostas, quanto suas estatísticas foram testadas por meio da Modelagem de Equações Estruturais com a Abordagem de Mínimos Quadrados Parciais (PLS-SEM). A fim de explorar o efeito moderador do crowding percebido, a amostra foi dividida em dois grupos e testada por meio do emprego da análise multigrupo (MGA). Os resultados demonstraram que a Confiabilidade, Segurança, Aspectos Tangíveis, Empatia e Capacidade de Resposta tem um efeito positivo na Qualidade Percebida do Serviço (QPS) que, por sua vez, tem um impacto positivo na satisfação dos pacientes (SP), logo, QPS atua como antecendente da SP. O crowding percebido, contudo, não possui efeito moderador em nenhuma das relações do modelo.

Abstract Paper aims Housing is pivotal in advancing the quality of life. This study investigates the impact of economic complexity on the housing deficit within the Brazilian states. Originality Several studies have investigated the significance of social policies and economic growth as explanatory factors for housing deficits. Our study sheds light on the importance of economic structure in facilitating improved housing conditions for individuals. Research method The Fixed Effects Driscoll Kraay (FE-DK) econometric model was employed, utilizing panel data encompassing 27 Brazilian federative units spanning 2009 to 2017. Main findings The primary finding of this research elucidates the role of economic complexity as a determining factor that significantly impacts the housing deficit within Brazilian states. In other words, an enhanced economic structure contributes to improved housing conditions for the population and fosters a higher quality of life. Implications for theory and practice Theoretically, this paper posits the existence of a novel determinant that elucidates the housing and housing deficit theory. Moreover, the study makes a substantive contribution by advocating for public policies to facilitate housing conditions and enhance social well-being within a developing country. It underscores the pivotal significance of the productive structure in driving the economic development of the nation.

CONTEXTUALIZAÇÃO: Ferramentas e desenhos específicos de pesquisa podem ajudar na identificação da eficiência da atividade física em mulheres idosas. OBJETIVOS: Identificar os efeitos da atividade física sobre a eficiência da condição física de mulheres idosas. MÉTODOS: Aplicou-se um programa de atividade física de um ano (123 sessões) para mulheres com idade de 60 anos ou mais. Foram realizadas quatro coletas de dados físicos, avaliando peso, altura, índice de massa corporal (IMC), pressão arterial, frequência cardíaca, ausências, força de preensão, flexibilidade, VO2max, além de equilíbrio estático e dinâmico. As análises estatísticas incluíram uma análise de medidas repetidas, tanto inferencial (análise da variância - ANOVA) quanto do tamanho do efeito (coeficiente d de Cohen), além da identificação da eficiência dos participantes (análise por envoltório de dados - DEA). RESULTADOS: Apesar das diferenças observadas nos resultados das análises realizadas, eles permitiram apontar que a atividade física adaptada para mulheres idosas pode efetivamente mudar as capacidades físicas associadas ao envelhecimento. As mulheres com idades entre 60-65 anos são mais capazes de reverter a atividade física em benefícios para a saúde no curto e longo prazo. No entanto, as mulheres mais velhas, dentro do grupo >65 anos, tiveram mais dificuldade em tirar proveito da atividade física. CONCLUSÃO: A adesão ao programa e o tempo gasto em cada tipo de exercício determinam a população que pode se beneficiar de programas de atividade física. A DEA permite ponderar os resultados relativos ao tempo de atividade física realizada em termos de condições de saúde.

BACKGROUND: Specific research tools and designs can assist in identifying the efficiency of physical activity in elderly women. OBJECTIVES: To identify the effects of physical activity on the physical condition of older women. METHODS: A one-year-long physical activity program (123 sessions) was implemented for women aged 60 years or older. Four physical assessments were conducted, in which weight, height, BMI, blood pressure, heart rate, absences, grip strength, flexibility, VO2max, and static and dynamic balance were assessed. The statistical analyses included a repeated measures analysis, both inferential (analysis of variance - ANOVA) and effect size (Cohen's d coefficient), as well as identification of the participants' efficiency (Data Envelopment Analysis - DEA). RESULTS: Despite the observation of differences that depended on the analysis used, the results were successful in the sense that they showed that physical activity adapted to older women can effectively change the decline in physical ability associated with aging, depending on the purpose of the study. The 60-65 yrs group was the most capable of converting physical activity into health benefits in both the short and long term. The >65 yrs group took less advantage of physical activity. CONCLUSION: Adherence to the program and actual time spent on each type of exercise are the factors that determine which population can benefit from physical activity programs. The DEA allows the assessment of the results related to time spent on physical activity in terms of health concerns.

Cada vez mais, as empresas têm percebido as vantagens de estabelecerem alianças umas com as outras, formando redes. Essas vantagens podem estar ligadas aos mais variados objetivos, que são mensurados por diferentes indicadores de desempenho. A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo a determinação das características estruturais que são mais adequadas, considerando uma série de possíveis indicadores de desempenho, para uma rede interorganizacional colaborativa. Para tal, foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico-exploratório em duas bases de dados, e utilizada uma abordagem qualitativa para sistematizar as informações encontradas. Como principal resultado deste trabalho, foi construído um quadro teórico que sistematiza a relação entre a estrutura e o desempenho de uma rede. Acredita-se que este artigo possa servir como uma contribuição inicial para um campo de pesquisa ainda pouco explorado.

Increasingly, companies have realized the benefits of establishing alliances with other companies forming networks. These benefits or advantages can be related to a variety of goals, which are monitored by different performance indicators. This study aimed to determine the most appropriate structural features considering a range of possible performance indicators of an inter-organizational collaborative network. Therefore, an exploratory literature review was conducted using two databases and a qualitative approach to systematize the information found. The main result obtained was the creation of a theoretical framework that systematizes the relationship between network structure and performance. It is believed that this study can contribute to a yet little-explored area of research.

O objetivo deste artigo é a aplicação da técnica de Pesquisa Operacional Análise Envoltória de Dados - DEA, por meio do índice composto das fronteiras clássica e invertida, para avaliar o custo/beneficio de aeronaves de transporte civil. Para tal, foram adotados como inputs: a) preço de mercado, e b) custos operacionais; e como outputs: a) peso de carga paga, b) velocidade de cruzeiro, e c) razão máxima de subida com um único motor. Para garantir a homogeneidade das DMUs, os aviões foram divididos segundo o sistema de propulsão e segundo as categorias: regional, narrow-body e wide-body. Foram também agrupados em diferentes alcances, para que se pudessem identificar os aviões com melhor custo/beneficio em cada um. Os resultados encontrados permitem afirmar que os aviões com o melhor custo/beneficio são os que já tiveram sua produção descontinuada, mas que ainda não estão muito defasados tecnologicamente.

The objective of this paper was to apply the operational research technique of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), through the composite index of classic and inverted borders, to evaluate the cost-benefit of civil transport aircrafts. To this end, a) market price, and b) operating costs were used as inputs; and, a) payload, b) cruise speed, and c) maximum reason climb with one engine were used as outputs. To ensure homogeneity of DMUs, the planes were divided according to the propulsion system and in the following categories: regional, narrow-body and wide-body; they were also grouped into different ranges, so that the best cost-benefit for each aircraft could be identified. Results allowed for the following conclusion: the best cost-benefits were found in planes where the production had already been discontinued, but they were not very technologically outdated yet.
