Abstract An adopted animal is considered a grand gesture with significant social responsibility since it needs daily care and affection from the adopter. Far beyond appearance and aesthetic issues, the adopter must consider their natural conditions, respecting the specific characteristics of the animal. The lack of expertise in choosing the animal can lead to an irresponsible and fruitless adoption, compromising the animal’s quality of life. Animal adoption portals are prone to this problem if they do not provide controls that try to approximate the adopter’s real motivations and conditions with the animal’s characteristics. Faced with this problem, this article proposes a content-based recommendation system to suggest animals for users to consume drugs, applying the weighted cosine technique. The weighting is fundamental in calculating the similarity between the users’ emotions and the animal’s characteristics. The experiments increased the accuracy of the recommendations when weighting is applied over the traditional method without considering the prescribed method of users by specific characteristics of the animals to be adopted.

Resumo A adoção animal é considerada um gesto grandioso que carrega consigo grande responsabilidade social, visto que um animal precisa dos cuidados e carinho diário do adotante. Muito além da aparência e questões estéticas, é essencial que o adotante considere suas reais condições respeitando as características específicas do animal. A falta de perícia na escolha do animal pode acarretar uma adoção irresponsável e infrutuosa, comprometendo a qualidade de vida do animal. Portais de adoção de animais são suscetíveis a esse problema se não fornecerem mecanismos que tentem aproximar as reais preferências e condições do adotante com as características do animal. Diante dessa problemática, este artigo propõe um sistema de recomendação baseado em conteúdo que visa sugerir animais para adoção considerando as preferências dos adotantes, aplicando a técnica do cosseno ponderado. A ponderação é fundamental no cálculo de similaridade entre as preferências dos adotantes e das características do animal. Os experimentos realizados apontam um aumento de precisão das recomendações quando a ponderação é aplicada sobre o método tradicional sem considerar as preferências do adotante por determinadas características dos animais a serem adotados.

Abstract Although, in the last decades, there has been significant mobilization of the academic field of Design to expand the thus far existing content, particularly referring to its history, this expansion has not satisfactorily contemplated the history of Interior Design itself yet. The existing literature is not always accessible due to the predominance of foreign publications, which means the natural obstacles concerning the language and the cost, and, even when accessible, the publications are usually limited to biographies of successful professionals or the traditional way of narrating the trajectory of the field, as a succession of styles. Without intending to solve the problem definitively, but with the objective of contributing to the facilitation of access and the expansion of information, this article has proposed to review the existing foreign literature, adopting as a framework the transformations experienced by the activity in their professionalization process. Therefore, it was essential to briefly understand relevant historical contexts in which this trajectory took place, with emphasis on France in the 17th and 18th centuries, England in the 18th and 19th centuries and the American context of the 20th century. The article, thus, resulting from a demand identified by the authors during their teaching practice, sought to contribute with a still little explored theme, in the expectation that other future works will give continuity to a story that needs and deserves to be told.

Resumo Embora, nas últimas décadas, haja significativa mobilização do campo acadêmico do Design para ampliação dos conteúdos até então existentes, particularmente dos referentes à sua história, essa expansão ainda não contemplou, de modo satisfatório, a história do Design de Interiores em si. A literatura existente nem sempre é acessível em função da predominância das publicações estrangeiras, o que implica os naturais obstáculos referentes à língua e ao custo, e, mesmo se a ela se tem acesso, as publicações costumam se limitar a biografias de profissionais bem sucedidos ou à tradicional forma de narrar a trajetória do campo, como uma sucessão de estilos. Sem a pretensão de resolver o problema de modo definitivo, mas com o objetivo de contribuir para a facilitação do acesso e a ampliação das informações, o presente artigo se propôs a fazer uma revisão de literatura, adotando como recorte as transformações vivenciadas pela atividade em seu processo de profissionalização. Para tanto, fez-se indispensável compreender brevemente relevantes contextos históricos em que essa trajetória se deu, com destaque para a França nos séculos XVII e XVIII, a Inglaterra nos séculos XVIII e XIX e o contexto estadunidense do século XX. O artigo, portanto, resultante de demanda identificada pelos autores durante sua prática docente, procurou contribuir com um tema ainda pouco explorado, na expectativa de que futuros trabalhos deem continuidade a uma história que precisa e merece ser contada.

Abstract This article performs an analysis of female participation in science, in the Brazilian system of graduate studies and scientific research as a case study. This is relevant because science is a central supporting structure for modern societies and, therefore, a detailed analysis of the scientific power structure behind academic policy creation can reveal aspects of androcentrism in scientific activity. The main goal of this work is to identify the process of misogyny in science by describing its reproductive pattern. Our results show that women are around 50% of the undergraduate and graduate students when all fields are taken into consideration, but only 37% of the researchers in the CNPq system. We also observe a significant increase in female percentage within scientific activities at the initial and intermediary levels, except for the most prestigious areas as hard science. However, a scissor effect is identified between the initial level and the more prominent positions. This unbalanced participation reveals that female occupations in science are mostly as lower workforce since women are quite far from the social decision-making circles in this career

Abstract: Perioperative neurological complications secondary to hypoxia during sedation and general anesthesia procedures are frequent in cardiovascular surgery, and in patients with comorbidities. However, so far there is no consensus for the diagnosis of these possible complications. In patients with head trauma severe and/or subarachnoid hemorrhage cerebral lactate was not useful for predicting cerebral hypoxia, however the lactate/pyruvate ratio could be a tool for intraoperative diagnosis of acute cerebral hypoxia. Studies suggest that it must be associated with other markers or multimodal monitoring. Further studies are needed to evaluate lactate predictive value for the diagnosis of cerebral hypoxia.

Resumen: Las complicaciones neurológicas perioperatorias secundarias a hipoxia durante procedimientos de sedación y anestesia general son frecuentes en cirugía cardiovascular y en pacientes con comorbilidades. Sin embargo, hasta el momento no existe un consenso para el diagnóstico de estas posibles complicaciones. En pacientes con trauma encefálico severo y/o hemorragia subaracnoidea el lactato cerebral no fue útil para predicción de hipoxia cerebral; pese a ello, la relación de lactato/piruvato podría ser una herramienta para diagnóstico intraoperatorio de hipoxia cerebral aguda. Los estudios sugieren que éste debe asociarse a otros marcadores y/o a monitoreo multimodal. Es necesario realizar estudios que evalúen su valor predictivo para hipoxia cerebral.

RÉSUMÉ : Cet article analyse la relation entre les dimensions de l'orientation entrepreneuriale (OE) et la performance des coopératives de crédit. On aborde six dimensions : la capacité d'innovation, la prise de risque, la proactivité, l'autonomie, l'agressivité concurrentielle et le réseau de relations. Nous avons mené une enquête auprès d'un échantillon de 67 coopératives. Pour l'analyse des données, on a utilisé un modèle d'équation structurelle dans le logiciel Smart PLS 3.0. Les résultats montrent que, dans l'OE, les dimensions « acceptation du risque » et « agressivité concurrentielle » sont positivement et significativement associées à la performance. Malgré les spécificités des coopératives de crédit, on observe la pertinence de certaines des dimensions de ce concept dans la gestion de ces institutions. L'étude contribue à la littérature en explorant la multidimensionnalité du concept d'oE, en augmentant une dimension peu discutée (le réseau de relations) et en considérant un contexte unique (les coopératives de crédit).

RESUMO: Este estudo analisa como as dimensões da orientação empreendedora (OE) relacionam-se com o desempenho nas cooperativas de crédito. Para tanto, abordam-se seis dimensões: inovativi-dade, assunção de riscos, proatividade, autonomia, agressividade competitiva e rede de relações. Foi realizada um survey, com uma amostra de 67 cooperativas. Para a análise de dados, utilizou-se modelagem de equações estruturais, no software SmartPLS 3.0. Os achados evidenciam que, na OE, as dimensões "assunção de risco" e "agressividade competitiva" mantêm associação positiva e significativa com o desempenho. Apesar das especificidades das cooperativas de crédito, observa-se a pertinência de algumas das dimensões desse construto na gestão de tais instituições. O estudo contribui para a literatura ao explorar a multidimensionalidade do construto da OE, ao acrescentar uma dimensão com escassa discussão (rede de relações) e ao considerar um contexto singular (cooperativas de crédito).

RESUMEN: El artículo analiza cómo las dimensiones de la orientación emprendedora (OE) se relacionan con el desempeño de las cooperativas de crédito. Para ello, se abordan seis dimensiones: innovatividad, admisión de riesgos, proactividad, autonomía, agresividad competitiva y red de relaciones. Se realizó un survey, con una amuestra de 67 cooperativas. Para el análisis de datos, se utilizó modelado de ecuaciones estructurales, en el software SmartPLS 3.0. Los hallazgos evidencian que, en la OE, las dimensiones "admisión de riesgos" y "agresividad competitiva" mantienen asociación positiva y significativa con el desempeño. A pesar de las especificidades de las cooperativas de crédito, se observa la pertinencia de algunas de las dimensiones de este constructo en la gestión de tales instituciones. El estudio aporta a la literatura al explorar la multidimensio-nalidad del constructo de la OE, al incrementar una dimensión con escasa discusión (red de relaciones) y al considerar un contexto singular (cooperativas de crédito).

ABSTRACT This study analyzes how the different dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) are related to the performance of credit unions. To do this, six dimensions will be addressed: innovativeness, risk-taking, pro-activity, autonomy, competitive aggressiveness, and relationship networks. Data collection included the application of a survey to a sample of 67 credit unions in Brazil. Data analysis involved the use of structural equation modeling in SmartPLS 3.0 software. Our findings show that "risk-taking" and "competitive aggressiveness" have a positive and significant association with business performance. Despite the specificities of credit unions, some of the dimensions of the EO construct are relevant in the management of such institutions. This study contributes to the literature by exploring the multidimensionality of EO and by adding a dimension little-addressed so far (network of relationships) in a unique context (credit unions).

Resumo Propomos, neste trabalho, uma análise de Eles eram muitos cavalos (2001/2006), do escritor contemporâneo brasileiro Luiz Ruffato. Procuramos problematizar a discussão sobre a possível configuração desta obra sob a forma, denominada pelo próprio autor, de uma “instalação literária”. Ao apresentar este modo de fazer literário, Ruffato propõe uma reflexão relacionada a diversas mazelas sociais brasileiras sob uma perspectiva crítica descentrada, afastada de qualquer viés ufanista. Herdeiro de poéticas modernas, como a mallarmeana e as vanguardistas europeias, o autor configura uma poética, estruturada em um mosaico de gêneros textuais, capaz de apreender e refratar a atmosfera de dinamicidade do mundo contemporâneo. Para desenvolvermos esta análise, atenta sobretudo às proposições estéticas da obra, recuperamos o conceito de instalação, utilizado nas Artes Visuais, bem como determinados textos teóricos voltados à análise da relação entre a literatura e outras linguagens, desenvolvidos por autoras como Marjorie Perloff, Márcia Arbex e Maria Adélia Menegazzo.

Abstract We propose, in this work, an analysis of Eles Eram Muitos Cavalos (2001/2006), by the contemporary Brazilian writer Luiz Ruffato. We try to problematize the possible configuration of the work as a “literary installation”, a term used by the author himself. By presenting this way of doing literary work, Ruffato proposes a reflection on Brazilian social ills from a decentered critical perspective, far from any nationalistic bias. Heir to modern poetics, such as Mallarmean and European avant-gardes, the author configures a poetics, structured in a mosaic of textual genres, capable of apprehending and refracting the dynamic atmosphere of the contemporary world. To develop this analysis, focused mainly on the work’s aesthetic propositions, we recovered the concept of installation, used in Visual Arts, as well as theoretical studies aimed at analyzing the relationship between literature and other arts, developed by authors such as Marjorie Perloff, Márcia Arbex, and Maria Adélia Menegazzo.

ABSTRACT Human Resource Allocation (HRA) can be defined as the way professionals are distributed across the organization’s tasks, given that each individual has his/her own set of characteristics, and that each task has specific needs. Thus, this paper puts forward a mathematical programming model for allocating human resources that considers employees’ formal qualifications and experience and the possibility of employees sharing tasks in each project. The proposed mathematical model was designed and implemented according to a set of heuristics based on a Greedy Search (GS), a Genetic Algorithm, a Cosine Pigeon- Inspired Optimizer and an Iterated Local Search (ILS), to solve small, medium and large random instances. Thus, it was verified which of the heuristics had the best performance according to certain indicators, such as resolution time and average quality of the solutions found. Finally, they were also compared with the optimal solution obtained for small and medium-sized instances, with the best average results to ILS, although these are not too far from those of the GS.

Resumo As atividades antropogênicas modificaram as paisagens levando a danos ambientais e a uma biodiversidade ameaçada. Como resultado, as áreas protegidas se tornaram o último refúgio para muitas espécies. Áreas protegidas cercadas por uma paisagem altamente modificada podem acumular espécies, especialmente grandes mamíferos, o que pode alterar o uso de seu habitat habitual. Neste trabalho, usamos análise de DNA não-invasivo, identificação molecular de espécies e análises de paisagem para avaliar o uso de habitat de carnívoros em uma área protegida isolada, o Parque Nacional de Itatiaia (PNI). Duas espécies foram de longe as mais amostradas dentro do PNI, Chrysocyon brachyurus e Leopardus guttulus. A distribuição espacial de cada espécie foi avaliada com as seguintes variáveis paisagísticas: altitude; uso e cobertura do solo; declividade e distâncias euclidianas da água e de construções urbanas. O uso de C. brachyurus e L. guttulus no habitat estava relacionado à altitude e ao uso e cobertura do solo. Testamos se existiam diferenças nos indicadores ambientais considerando ambas as espécies, o que mostrou que altitudes mais elevadas, formação de florestas e/ou campestres estavam de fato associadas a elas. Destacamos a presença incomum de ambas as espécies em altitudes de até 2.631 metros. Nossos resultados sugerem uma extensão do uso do habitat conhecido para ambas as espécies como possível consequência da paisagem altamente modificada onde o PNI está inserido. Portanto, os resultados podem ser úteis para entender melhor a dinâmica das espécies e sua conservação diante das mudanças na paisagem. Além disso, este estudo pode ser útil para as políticas de manejo e conservação desta emblemática área protegida.

Abstract Anthropogenic activities have modified landscapes leading to environmental damages and to a threatened biodiversity. As a result, protected areas have become the last refuge for many species. Protected areas surrounded by a highly modified landscape may accumulate species, especially large mammals, which may alter their habitual habitat use. Here we used non-invasive DNA analysis, molecular species identification, and landscape analyses to assess the habitat use of carnivore species in an isolated protected area, Itatiaia National Park (PNI). Two species were by far the most sampled within PNI, Chrysocyon brachyurus and Leopardus guttulus. The spatial distribution of each species was assessed to the following landscape variables: altitude; land use/land cover; slope and Euclidean distances from water and from urban buildings. The habitat use of C. brachyurus and L. guttulus was related to altitude and land use/land cover. We tested whether there were differences in the environmental indicators considering both species, which showed that higher altitudes, forest and/or grassland formation were indeed associated with them. We highlighted the unprecedented presence of both species at altitudes up to 2,631 meters. Our results suggest a habitat use extension for both species inside the PNI that could be a consequence of the highly modified landscape where PNI is inserted. Therefore, the results can be helpful for better understanding the species dynamics and their conservation in the face of landscape changes. Further, this study may be of help for management and conservation policies of this emblematic protected area.

SUMMARY: The study of adipose tissue has gained increasing importance in the biomedical area due to its implications for health and obesity. Obesity is a situation of great concern mainly in the Western world due to its high prevalence and morbidity. Experimental studies on obesity often need a model where it is possible to carry out experiments, drug testing, and other therapeutic procedures, which are typically not possible in humans. Although several animals are used for obesity studies, rodents are by far the most used animals, and among rodents, mice are particularly indicated for this investigation. This mini review will introduce the challenging classification of obesity in rodents, paralleling human obesity, defining and classifying what an obese mouse is. The text will differentiate between white adipose tissue (WAT, aimed at endocrine secretion and lipogenesis) and brown adipose tissue (BAT, aimed at thermogenesis) and describe the browning process of white adipocytes in an adaptation to increase thermogenesis. The text will also describe the various types of body fat in mice with their differences and indications for investigation and teach how to recognize and dissect these fats. At the end of this introductory reading, the young researcher is expected to have acquired sufficient knowledge to start an experimental investigative project on obesity.

RESUMEN: El estudio del tejido adiposo ha ganado una importancia creciente en el área biomédica por sus implicaciones para la salud y la obesidad. La obesidad es una situación de gran preocupación, principalmente, en el mundo occidental debido a su alta prevalencia y morbilidad. Los estudios experimentales sobre la obesidad a menudo necesitan un modelo en el que sea posible realizar experimentos, pruebas de drogas y otros procedimientos terapéuticos, que normalmente no son posibles en humanos. Aunque se utilizan varios animales para estudios de obesidad, los roedores son, con mucho, los animales más utilizados y, entre los roedores, los ratones están especialmente indicados para esta investigación. Esta mini revisión presenta la desafiante clasificación de la obesidad en roedores, en paralelo con la obesidad humana, definiendo y clasificando qué es un ratón obeso. El texto diferencia entre tejido adiposo blanco (WAT, destinado a la secreción endocrina y lipogénesis) y tejido adiposo marrón (BAT, destinado a la termogénesis) y describe el proceso de pardeamiento de los adipocitos blancos en una adaptación para aumentar la termogénesis. El texto también describe los diversos tipos de grasa corporal en ratones con sus diferencias e indicaciones para la investigación y enseña cómo reconocer y diseccionar estas grasas. Al final de esta lectura introductoria, se espera que el joven investigador haya adquirido los conocimientos suficientes para iniciar un proyecto de investigación experimental sobre la obesidad.

■ RESUMO Introdução: Os benefícios da realização de reconstrução mamária em pacientes mastectomizadas vão muito além da estética, contribuindo para a saúde emocional, autoestima e vida sexual da mulher. Dessa forma, o presente estudo teve como objetivo abordar a relevância da realização da cirurgia plástica em mulheres mastectomizadas no Brasil, bem como evidenciar os direitos da mulher, dentro do Sistema Único de Saúde, durante o processo. Métodos: Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão integrativa de caráter qualitativo através da coleta de dados nas plataformas SciELO, PubMed e LILACS, além de uma pesquisa complementar no Google Acadêmico. Os artigos incluídos no estudo foram analisados pelo método de conteúdo. Resultados: No total foram incluídos 21 artigos, nos quais observou-se que as mulheres mastectomizadas relatavam sentimentos de medo, vergonha, sofrimento, redução da sexualidade e insatisfação. Também foi observado que esses sentimentos diminuíram após a realização do procedimento estético. Conclusão: Pelo fato de as mamas representarem um símbolo de sensualidade e orgulho feminino, é de extrema importância que o Sistema Único de Saúde, assim como os profissionais da saúde estejam capacitados para acolher e sanar as dúvidas das pacientes, garantindo que não haja negligência no cuidado e proporcionando um tratamento digno.

■ ABSTRACT Introduction: The benefits of performing breast reconstruction in mastectomized patients go far beyond aesthetics, contributing to a woman’s emotional health, self-esteem and sex life. Thus, this study aimed to address the relevance of performing plastic surgery in women with mastectomies in Brazil and highlight women’s rights within the Brazilian Unified Health System during the process. Methods: For this, an integrative qualitative review was carried out through data collection on the SciELO, PubMed and LILACS platforms, in addition to a complementary search on Google Scholar. The articles included in the study were analyzed using the content method. Results: In total, 21 articles were included, in which it was observed that women with mastectomies reported feelings of fear, shame, suffering, reduced sexuality and dissatisfaction. It was also observed that these feelings decreased after performing the cosmetic procedure. Conclusion: Because the breasts represent a symbol of sensuality and female pride, it is extremely important that the Brazilian Unified Health System, as well as health professionals, are trained to welcome and resolve the patients’ doubts, ensuring that there is no negligence in the care and providing a decent treatment.

RESUMO A meleira do mamoeiro é considerada um dos maiores problemas fitossanitários da cultura do mamoeiro, mas diversos aspectos da sua epidemiologia ainda são desconhecidos. O objetivo deste trabalho foi determinar o risco e o padrão espaço-temporal da meleira nas condições de cultivo da região extremo sul do estado da Bahia. Foi utilizada a regressão logística para identificar os fatores de riscos associados à ocorrência da meleira na região do extremo sul da Bahia. Para o estudo da distribuição espacial, foram aplicadas as seguintes análises: sequências ordinárias; teste t (student) e áreas isópatas. Os resultados da regressão logística mostraram que o risco de um pomar apresentar meleira sendo consorciado ou consorciado com a cultura do café é maior do que quando estes fatores estão ausentes. Em geral, a meleira evoluiu lentamente do primeiro até o sexto mês de avaliação, com média de até 17,2% de plantas infectadas no sexto mês e chegando até 88% das plantas infectadas em campo ao final da epidemia. Agregação de plantas doentes foi observada em menos da metade das áreas avaliadas. A análise de áreas isópatas indicou uma tendência para início das epidemias a partir das bordas dos pomares e a presença de focos secundários e isolados da doença.

ABSTRACT Papaya meleira is considered one of the major phytosanitary problems affecting papaya culture, but several aspects of its epidemiology are still unknown. The objective of this study was to determine the risk and the spatiotemporal pattern of meleira under the cultivation conditions in the far south region of Bahia State, Brazil. Logistic regression was used to identify the risk factors associated with the occurrence of meleira in the far south region of Bahia. For the spatial distribution study, the following analyses were applied: ordinary sequences; t-test (student’s) and isopath areas. The logistic regression results evidenced that the risk that an intercropped orchard, or intercropped with the coffee crop, can show meleira is greater than that in the absence of these factors. In general, meleira evolved slowly from the first to the sixth month of evaluation, showing an average of up to 17.2% infected plants in the sixth month and reaching up to 88% infected plants in the field at the end of the epidemic. Aggregation of diseased plants was observed in less than half of the evaluated areas. Analysis of isopath areas indicated a tendency for the epidemics to start from the edges of orchards and the presence of secondary and isolated foci of the disease.

Resumo: Esta investigação comporta a questão básica de como a necessidade de uma vivência interdisciplinar é tratada nos projetos pedagógicos de ensino superior. A escolha se justifica pela necessidade de compreensão da interdisciplinaridade como demanda para as instituições. O objetivo geral é ampliar a compreensão do percurso institucional das proposituras gerais de interdisciplinaridade das Diretrizes Curriculares para o ensino superior. Especificamente, é descrever e interpretar aspectos das concepções de interdisciplinaridade contidas nos projetos pedagógicos dos cursos. A metodologia utilizada envolve a coleta de dados e sua interpretação. Os dados serão coletados em projetos pedagógicos disponíveis em sites de instituições universitárias situadas numa região delimitada. Para a interpretação, foram estabelecidas categorias preliminares de análise que englobam características específicas dos projetos pedagógicos, bem como as correspondências referentes às Diretrizes Curriculares, às diferenças e semelhanças entre projetos de diferentes modalidades de graduação, quanto à interdisciplinaridade. Tais categorias são: (i) correspondência em relação à respectiva Diretriz Curricular; (ii) fundamentação teórico / prática; (iii) consistência: coerência / contradição entre a proposta de interdisciplinaridade e demais concepções e proposituras do curso; (iv) previsão de grau e intensidade de envolvimento individual e institucional nas ações interdisciplinares; (v) similaridade / diferenciação das concepções de interdisciplinaridades entre projetos nas áreas de Ciências Humanas, Exatas e Tecnológicas, Biológicas; (vi) similaridade / diferenciação das concepções de interdisciplinaridade entre projetos das diferentes modalidades de graduação: bacharelado, licenciatura, formação de tecnólogos. Os resultados até o momento estão restritos à construção de um referencial teórico e ao instrumental para a análise dos dados.

Abstract: This investigation involves the basic question of how the need for an interdisciplinary experience is dealt with in higher education pedagogical projects. The choice is justified by the need to understand interdisciplinarity as a demand for institutions. The general objective is to broaden the understanding of the institutional path of the general interdisciplinarity propositions of the Curricular Guidelines until their concreteness in academic practices. Specifically, it is to describe and interpret aspects of the concepts of interdisciplinarity contained in the pedagogical projects of the courses. The methodology used involves data collection and interpretation. The data will be collected in pedagogical projects available on the websites of university institutions located in a defined region. For the interpretation, preliminary categories of analysis were established that encompass specific characteristics of the pedagogical projects, as well as the correspondences referring to the Curricular Guidelines, to the differences and similarities between projects of different graduation modalities, regarding the interdisciplinarity. Such categories are: (i) correspondence in relation to the respective Curricular Guideline; (ii) theoretical / practical basis; (iii) consistency: coherence / contradiction between the interdisciplinary proposal and other conceptions and propositions of the course; (iv) forecasting the degree and intensity of individual and institutional involvement in interdisciplinary actions; (v) similarity / differentiation of the concepts of interdisciplinarities between projects in the areas of Human Sciences, Exact and Technological, Biologica Sciences; (vi) similarity / differentiation of the concepts of interdisciplinarity between projects of different graduation modalities: bachelor’s degree, licentiate degree, training of technologists. The results so far are restricted to the construction of a theoretical framework and the instrumental for the analysis of the data.

RESUMO: A resistência à meticilina no grupo Staphylococcus intermedius (GSI) tem aumentado na clínica de pequenos animais. Membros GSI resistentes à meticilina (GSIRM) têm sido causas de infecções tanto em animais de companhia e humanos. Cassetes cromossômicos estafilocócicos mec (SCCmec) carregam os genes mecA/C, que codificam a transpeptidase PBP2a (PBP2’) responsável pela resistência aos antibióticos β-lactâmicos em estafilococos. Nosso objetivo foi investigar os elementos SCCmec de GSIRM isolados de diferentes amostras clínicas de cães que exibiram CIM de meticilina ≥ 0,5 μg/mL por meio de um sistema automatizado em um Centro Veterinário de Diagnósticos em São Paulo, Brasil. A sensibilidade à meticilina foi determinada por meio do teste de microdiluição em caldo e fitas Oxoid® M.I.C.Evaluator®. A produção de PBP2a foi detectada usando um ensaio de aglutinação de látex. A tipagem dos elementos SCCmec foi realizada de acordo com as diretrizes do International Working Group on the Classification of Staphylococcal Cassette Chromosome Elements (IWG-SCC). SCCmec tipo II (2A), SCCmec tipo III (3A), SCC compostos de um complexo mec de classe A com múltiplos complexos ccr, e elementos SCCmec não tipáveis foram encontrados nesses isolados GSIRM. Variantes que diferem dos elementos SCCmec reconhecidos até o momento pelo IWG-SCC foram encontradas, indicando novos rearranjos no contexto genético de mecA nesses isolados GSIRM caninos.

ABSTRACT: Methicillin resistance in the Staphylococcus intermedius group (SIG) has emerged in small animal practice. Methicillin-resistant SIG (MRSIG) members have been implicated as causes of infections in both companion animals and humans. Staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec) elements carry the mecA/C genes, which encode for the transpeptidase PBP2a (PBP2’) responsible for β-lactam antibiotic resistance in staphylococci. This study examined the SCCmec types of MRSIG isolates from different clinical specimens of dogs that exhibited methicillin MIC ≥ 0.5 μg/mL by an automated identification and susceptibility system in a Center for Veterinary Diagnostics in São Paulo, Brazil. Susceptibility to methicillin was determined by broth microdilution testing, and Oxoid® M.I.C.Evaluator® strips. PBP2a production was detected using a latex agglutination assay. SCCmec typing was performed according to the International Working Group on the Classification of Staphylococcal Cassette Chromosome Elements (IWG-SCC) guidelines. SCCmec type II (2A), SCCmec type III (3A), composite SCC structures consisting of a class A mec gene complex in addition to multiple ccr gene complexes, and non-typable SCCmec elements were reported in these MRSIG isolates. SCCmec type variants differing from those so far acknowledged by IWG-SCC were found, indicating new rearrangements in the genetic context of mecA in these canine MRSIG isolates.

Resumo: O marketing ambiental busca desenvolver estratégias para fortalecer a imagem empresarial e vincular o apelo ambiental aos produtos e marcas. Contudo, a reputação das empresas pode ser prejudicada se a mensagem verde usa informações falsas ou imprecisas, deixando transparecer que o discurso e a prática estão distantes. Como consequência, o prejuízo pode ser irreversível na percepção dos consumidores. Esta pesquisa objetivou levantar e analisar estratégias de marketing ambiental que denotam a prática de greenwashing na percepção de consumidores do mercado moveleiro nacional. Para alcançar o objetivo proposto, a pesquisa ocorreu em duas fases: a primeira com abordagem qualitativa, na qual os dados foram coletados em entrevistas. A segunda fase utilizou abordagem quantitativa, método de coleta survey e aplicação de questionários com consumidores. Como resultado, verificou-se que as variáveis de marketing ambiental que podem ser percebidas como greenwashing são, predominantemente: “preferência por produtos ambientais”, “interesse pela informação verde”, “confiança associada à marca”, “divulgação incentivada de compra verde” e “guia verde gera credibilidade ambiental”. Os resultados permitiram concluir que os consumidores têm consciência sobre as questões ambientais e preferência por produtos verdes, mas práticas de greenwashing prejudicam a sua percepção da imagem da empresa e de suas marcas.

Abstract: Environmental marketing tries to develop strategies to strengthen the entrepreneurial image and connect environmental appeal to products and brands. However, the companies’ reputation may be undermined if the green message uses false or inaccurate information, making it seem that theory and practice are far apart. As a consequence, the damage can be irreversible from the consumers’ viewpoint. This research aimed at raising and analyzing environmental marketing strategies that denote the practice of greenwashing from the point of view of consumers in the national furniture market. To reach the objective suggested, the research took place in two steps. The first step encompassed a qualitative approach, in which data were collected through interviews. The second step used the quantitative approach, a survey-collection method, and the application of questionnaires with consumers. As a result, it was possible to see that the variables concerning environmental marketing that can be perceived as greenwashing are mostly “preference for environmental products”, “interest in green information”, “brand-associated trust”, “green purchase incentive advertisement” and “a green guidebook generates environmental credibility”. The results led to the conclusion that consumers are aware of environmental issues and prefer green products, but greenwashing practices undermine the perception of the company’s image and its brands.

RESUMO. Em julho de 2019, um grupo multidisciplinar de pesquisadores em demência do Brasil e do Reino Unido se reuniu em Belo Horizonte para discutir e propor soluções para os desafios no diagnóstico, percepção pública e tratamento dessa condição. Neste artigo, sintetizamos as conclusões do workshop sobre os desafios no diagnóstico de demência. O Brasil enfrenta um grande problema no subdiagnóstico de demência, principalmente entre a população em condições socioeconômicas adversas. Há pouca disponibilidade de recursos e de especialistas e o conhecimento de médicos generalistas e de outros profissionais de saúde é pouco abrangente. Baixa escolaridade é também um obstáculo no diagnóstico de demência, uma vez que os testes de rastreio mais utilizados na prática clínica não são estruturados para avaliar a população com esse perfil. Os pacientes com demência e suas famílias ainda têm que superar o estigma do diagnóstico, que é ainda muito prevalente no Brasil e colabora para a piora da qualidade de vida. O Reino Unido, por outro lado, dispõe de mais recursos financeiros e de pessoal, possui serviços dedicados à avaliação de problemas de memória e um plano estratégico nacional para demência. Contudo, o National Health Service (NHS) tem verbas limitadas, o que faz com que alguns dos desafios no diagnóstico de demência sejam comuns aos dois países. Os autores sugerem possíveis soluções para enfrentá-los, com o objetivo de melhorar a avaliação e o reconhecimento da demência e reduzir os erros de diagnóstico.

ABSTRACT. In July 2019, a group of multidisciplinary dementia researchers from Brazil and the United Kingdom (UK) met in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, to discuss and propose solutions to current challenges faced in the diagnosis, public perception and care of dementia. Here we summarize the outcomes from the workshop addressing challenges in diagnosis. Brazil faces a major problem in dementia underdiagnosis, particularly involving the population in an adverse socioeconomic context. There is poor availability of resources and specialists, and the knowledge of general practitioners and other healthcare professionals is far from satisfactory. Low education level is a further obstacle in diagnosing dementia, as the most commonly used screening tests are not designed to evaluate this population. Patients and their families must overcome the stigma of a diagnosis of dementia, which is still prevalent in Brazil and increases the burden of this condition. Whilst the UK has greater resources, dedicated memory services and a National Dementia Strategy plan, the National Health Service (NHS) has limited funding. Therefore, some challenges regarding diagnosis are common across both countries. The authors suggest possible solutions to confront these, with the goal of improving assessment and recognition of dementia and reducing misdiagnosis.
