Abstract. Introduction : graduation in the health area should equally contemplate the psychomotor, cognitive and affective domains from the problematization of everyday situations of the Unified Health System (SUS). Objective : to evaluate the training of nutritionists based on the integration of knowledge from the teaching-service-community triad, based on Project-Based Learning (PBL) and Collective Portfolio (PC) in the micropolitics of the SUS. Method : a “baby shower” planned and executed by students, guided by a group of teachers, aimed at pregnant women in the SUS network, providing the live work of the concept-tools “alterity”, “bond”, “welcoming”, and “participatory management” was undertaken. Results : records in the CP showed articulation between different knowledge and learning domains in the training of nutritionists by skills. Conclusion: PBL+CP is a powerful and viable teaching-learning tool for the training of professionals capable of working in SUS integrating teachingservice-community.

Resumo Introdução : a formação na área de saúde deve contemplar equanimemente os domínios psicomotor, cognitivo e afetivo a partir da problematização de situações cotidianas do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Objetivo : avaliar a formação do nutricionista a partir da integração de saberes da tríade ensino-serviço-comunidade, a partir da Aprendizagem Baseada em Projetos (ABP) e Portfólio Coletivo (PC) na micropolítica do SUS. Método : Um “chá de bebê” planejado e executado por estudantes, orientado por um grupo de docentes, destinado a gestantes da rede SUS, oportunizando o trabalho vivo dos conceitos-ferramentas ‘alteridade’, ‘vínculo’, ‘acolhimento’, e ‘gestão participativa’ foi empreendido. Resultados : Registros no PC evidenciaram articulação entre diferentes saberes e domínios de aprendizagem na formação do nutricionista por competências. Conclusão : ABP+PC é uma ferramenta de ensino-aprendizagem, potente e viável para a formação do profissional capaz de atuar no SUS integrando ensino-serviço-comunidade.

O estudo teve como objetivo analisar parte dos recursos utilizados para financiar ações de saúde pública nas 26 capitais brasileiras entre 2008 e 2018. O estudo ecológico de tendências temporais envolveu indicadores de receitas e gastos fornecidos pelo Sistema de Informação sobre Orçamento Público em Saúde (SIOPS). Os valores foram deflacionados com base no Índice de Preços ao Consumidor Amplo de 2018 no Brasil para permitir a comparação ao longo dos anos. A variação anual média dos investimentos em saúde, em Reais (BRL), foi avaliada com o uso de regressões lineares. Os coeficientes de correlação de Pearson foram estimados entre as receitas e gastos federais com os recursos das capitais. Todas as capitais apresentaram correlações estatisticamente positivas com a origem do recurso orçamentário investido em saúde. O menor coeficiente foi encontrado na cidade de Macapá (Amapá) (r = 0,860), e o mais alto em Fortaleza (Ceará) (r = 0.997). Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) foi a capital com o maior aumento anual em transferências federais (cerca de BRL 67,91 por ano) e Teresina (Piauí) apresentou o maior aumento anual nos gastos em saúde (cerca de BRL 55,42 por ano). Houve um aumento real nas transferências no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e nos recursos municipais em quase todas as capitais, mas ainda persistem desigualdades na distribuição dos recursos financeiros entre as capitais brasileiras das cinco regiões. O financiamento da saúde é afetado pela municipalização do SUS, e não é o único fator que afeta o acesso e a qualidade dos serviços de saúde.

This study aimed to analyze part of the financial resources used to fund public health actions in the 26-Brazilian capitals, from 2008 to 2018. This is a time-trend ecological study involving revenue and expenditure indicators provided by the Information System on Public Budget for Health (SIOPS). The values were deflated based on the Extended National Consumer Price Index of 2018 in Brazil to allow the comparison over the years. The mean annual variation of health investments, in Brazilian Reais (BRL) was assessed using linear regressions. Pearson’s correlation coefficients were estimated between federal revenues and expenditures with the capitals’ resources. All capitals presented statistically significant positive correlations for the origin of the budget resource invested in health. The lowest coefficient was found in the capital city of Macapá (Amapá State) (r = 0.860) and the highest, in Fortaleza (Ceará State) (r = 0.997). Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais State) was the capital with the highest annual increase in federal transfers (about BRL 67.91 per year) and Teresina (Piauí State) presented the highest annual increase in health expenditures among the capitals (about BRL 55.42 per year). We found a increase in the transfers of the Brazilian Unified National Health System (SUS) and municipal resources in almost all capitals, but there are still inequalities in the distribution of financial resources among Brazilian capitals from different regions. Health funding is affected by the municipalization of SUS and it is not the single factor affecting the access and quality of health services.

El objetivo fue analizar la parte de recursos financieros utilizados para financiar acciones de salud públicas en 26 capitales brasileñas, entre 2008 y 2018. Se trata de un estudio ecológico de tendencia temporal, implicando indicadores de ingresos y gastos proporcionados por el Sistema de Información sobre el Presupuesto Público para Salud (SIOPS). Se deflactaron los valores basados en el Índice de Precios al Consumidor, ampliado de 2018 en Brasil, para permitir la comparación a lo largo de los años. La variación anual media de inversiones en salud, en Reales brasileños (BRL), fue evaluada usando regresiones lineales. Se estimaron los coeficientes de correlación de Pearson entre los ingresos y gastos federales, respecto a los recursos de las capitales. Todas las capitales presentaron estadísticamente correlaciones positivas significativas respecto a la fuente presupuestaria originaria invertida en salud. El coeficiente más bajo se encontró en la capital de Macapá (Amapá) (r = 0.860) y el más alto en Fortaleza (Ceará) (r = 0.997). Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) fue la capital con el incremento anual más alto en transferencias federales (cerca de BRL 67.91 por año) y Teresina (Piauí) presentó el incremento anual más alto en gastos de salud entre todas las capitales (sobre BRL 55.42 por año). Hubo un incremento real de transferencias en el Sistema Único de Salud brasileño (SUS), así como recursos municipales en casi todas las capitales, pero existen todavía inequidades en la distribución de recursos financieros entre las capitales brasileñas de diferentes regiones. La financiación de la salud está afectada por la municipalización del SUS, y no es el único factor que afecta al acceso y calidad de los servicios de salud.

Abstract: Bone quality is an important issue in dentistry. Low bone density may be associated with more severe periodontitis, and may influence implant therapy success. Recent evidence suggests that physical activity can improve alveolar bone quality. Irisin is an exercise-mediated peptide that might be involved in this process. We assessed the effect of exercise and that of intra-peritoneal irisin administration on bone quality in healthy and osteoporosis-induced rodents. This study was registered at PROSPERO (CRD42020184140), and followed PRISMA guidelines. A search by two independent examiners was conducted in five databases and gray literature up to July 2021, without restrictions regarding language or date of publication. Initially, they analyzed retrieved titles and abstracts (n=3,844) based on eligibility criteria. Of this total, 19 studies remained for full-text reading, and 16 proceeded to the data extraction and quality assessment phases. Meta-analyses were conducted (n= 6 studies) to establish the effects of irisin administration on cancellous bone mineral density (BMD). Exercise or irisin administration enhanced bone quality, but the meta-analysis showed that BMD increased only slightly in osteoporotic rodents (BMD: mean difference 0.03 mg/cm3 - 95% CI 0.01-0.05). This indicates that they had no significant benefits on the bones of healthy animals. Implications of key findings evidence the potential of irisin as an agent able to mitigate bone loss caused by osteoporosis, an outcome that could favor dental rehabilitation. More studies investigating the effect of irisin on alveolar bone are needed to elucidate its therapeutic viability and implications.

RESUMO Introdução: Os efeitos provocados pela COVID-19 em longo prazo são desconhecidos. O presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar os fatores associados com a qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde e os desfechos em longo prazo em sobreviventes à hospitalização por COVID-19 no Brasil. Métodos: Este será um estudo multicêntrico de coorte prospectivo, aninhado em cinco ensaios clínicos randomizados desenhados para avaliar os efeitos dos tratamentos específicos para COVID-19 em mais de 50 centros no Brasil. Pacientes adultos sobreviventes à hospitalização por infecção por SARS-CoV-2 comprovada ou suspeita serão seguidos por um período de 1 ano, por meio de entrevistas telefônicas estruturadas. O desfecho primário é o escore de utilidade para qualidade de vida relacionada à saúde após 1 ano, avaliado segundo o questionário EuroQol-5D3L. Os desfechos secundários incluirão mortalidade por todas as causas, eventos cardiovasculares graves, reospitalizações, retorno ao trabalho ou estudo, condição funcional física avaliada pelo instrumento Lawton-Brody Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, dispneia avaliada segundo a escala de dispneia modificada do Medical Research Council, necessidade de suporte ventilatório em longo prazo, sintomas de ansiedade e depressão avaliados segundo a Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, sintomas de transtorno de estresse pós-traumático avaliados pela ferramenta Impact of Event Scale-Revised e autoavaliação da condição de saúde, conforme a Escala Visual Analógica do EuroQol-5D3L. Serão utilizadas equações de estimativas generalizada para testar a associação entre cinco conjuntos de variáveis (1 - características demográficas, 2 - condição de saúde pré-morbidade, 3 - características da doença aguda, 4 - terapias específicas para COVID-19 recebidas e 5 - variáveis pós-alta atualizadas) e desfechos. Ética e disseminação: O protocolo do estudo foi aprovado pelos Comitês de Ética em Pesquisa de todas as instituições participantes. Os resultados serão disseminados por meio de conferências e periódicos revisados por pares.

Abstract Introduction: The long-term effects caused by COVID-19 are unknown. The present study aims to assess factors associated with health-related quality of life and long-term outcomes among survivors of hospitalization for COVID-19 in Brazil. Methods: This is a multicenter prospective cohort study nested in five randomized clinical trials designed to assess the effects of specific COVID-19 treatments in over 50 centers in Brazil. Adult survivors of hospitalization due to proven or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection will be followed-up for a period of 1 year by means of structured telephone interviews. The primary outcome is the 1-year utility score of health-related quality of life assessed by the EuroQol-5D3L. Secondary outcomes include all-cause mortality, major cardiovascular events, rehospitalizations, return to work or study, physical functional status assessed by the Lawton-Brody Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, dyspnea assessed by the modified Medical Research Council dyspnea scale, need for long-term ventilatory support, symptoms of anxiety and depression assessed by the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder assessed by the Impact of Event Scale-Revised, and self-rated health assessed by the EuroQol-5D3L Visual Analog Scale. Generalized estimated equations will be performed to test the association between five sets of variables (1- demographic characteristics, 2- premorbid state of health, 3- characteristics of acute illness, 4- specific COVID-19 treatments received, and 5- time-updated postdischarge variables) and outcomes. Ethics and dissemination: The study protocol was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of all participant institutions. The results will be disseminated through conferences and peer-reviewed journals.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a inclusão de narasina em suplementos mineral e proteico sobre o desempenho e o consumo de suplemento de novilhos de corte em pastagem. Cento e cinquenta novilhos Nelore com 17,0±0,06 meses de idade e 219,7±1,62 kg de peso inicial foram distribuídos em 30 unidades experimentais (UEs), com cinco animais cada uma. As UEs foram dispostas em 60 piquetes, os quais foram pastejados continuamente por 28 dias, seguidos de 28 dias de descanso. Utilizou-se o delineamento de blocos ao acaso. O tempo de duração do experimento foi de 140 dias, dividido em cinco períodos experimentais de 28 dias cada um. Os tratamentos avaliados foram: suplemento mineral controle (CON); CON + 1.800 (N1800) ou 2.750 (N2750) mg de narasina por quilograma de suplemento; e suplemento mineral proteinado (PROT) ou PROT + 360 mg de narasina por quilograma de suplemento (PROT 360). A inclusão de narasina na mistura mineral aumentou o ganho médio diário (GMD) durante o primeiro período e reduziu o consumo de suplemento no primeiro, no segundo e no terceiro períodos, quando comparado ao tratamento CON. O GMD e o consumo de suplemento foram semelhantes entre os tratamentos N1800 e N2750. A narasina tem efeito positivo no GMD até 28 de suplementação e controla o consumo de suplemento mineral, sem comprometer esse ganho.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of narasin inclusion in mineral and protein supplements on the performance and supplement intake of grazing beef yearlings. One hundred and fifty Nellore yearlings with 17.0±0.06 months of age and 219.7±1.62 kg initial body weight (BW) were allocated into 30 experimental units (EUs), with five animals each. The EUs were assigned to 16 paddocks, which were continuously stocked for 28 days, followed by 28 days of rest. A randomized complete block design was used. The experiment lasted 140 days, divided into five periods of 28 days each. The assessed treatments were: control mineral supplement (CON); CON + 1,800 (N1800) or 2,750 (N2750) mg narasin per kilogram of supplement; and protein mineral supplement (PROT) or PROT + 360 mg narasin per kilogram of supplement (PROT 360). The inclusion of narasin in the mineral supplement increased average daily gain (ADG) in the first period and decreased supplement intake in the first, second, and third periods, when compared with the CON treatment. The ADG and supplement intake were similar between the N1800 and N2750 treatments. Narasin has a positive effect on ADG up to 28 days of supplementation and controls mineral supplement intake, without compromising this gain.

RESUMO A eletrodeposição de cobre em substratos ferrosos e não-ferrosos a partir de soluções contendo cianeto é uma das formas mais utilizadas industrialmente. Os depósitos obtidos por esse processo apresentam alta qualidade com baixo custo operacional, equipamentos pouco sofisticados e pré-tratamento simples no substrato. No entanto, novos eletrólitos isentos de íons cianetos têm surgido para substituir as soluções cianídricas que são tóxicas e com grande potencial de causar danos ambientais e a saúde. O objetivo deste trabalho foi a obtenção do cobre eletrodepositado (Cu eletrolítico) por corrente contínua a partir de um banho de sulfato de amônio e citrato de sódio; e, avaliar as características deste com as do cobre eletrolítico comercial (Cu comercial), bem como analisar duas metodologias de preparação da superfície metálica para análise por microscopia. As técnicas de caracterização utilizadas foram Difração de Raios-X (DRX), Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura (MEV), Microscopia Óptica (MO) e nanodureza, as superfícies das amostras foram preparadas por polimento convencional e eletrolítico. Observou-se que as amostras polidas eletroliticamente mostraram-se bastante brilhantes e apresentaram os contornos dos grãos com maior nitidez, os mesmos resultados não foram evidenciados pelo polimento convencional. O cobre obtido pelo banho isento de cianeto apresentou menores tamanhos de grãos e uma maior dureza dentro destes, quando comparado ao Cu comercial. O difratograma apresentou para o Cu eletrolítico picos de alta intensidade nos planos (200) e (111) mostrando uma maior orientação cristalográfica preferencial nas direções desses planos. Por fim, o MEV mostrou uma segregação de uma fase no Cu eletrolítico, causada pela eletrodeposição e também as formas dos grãos poligonais com microcavidades globulares do Cu comercial.

ABSTRACT The electrodeposition of copper on ferrous and non-ferrous substrates from solutions containing cyanide is one of the most used industrial forms. The deposits obtained by this process are of high quality with low operating cost, unsophisticated equipment and simple pre-treatment in the substrate. However, new cyanide-free electrolytes have emerged to replace cyanide solutions that are toxic and have a great potential to cause environmental and health damage. The objective of this work was to obtain electrodeposited copper (electrolytic Cu) by direct current from an ammonium sulfate and sodium citrate bath; and, evaluate its characteristics with those of commercial electrolytic copper (commercial Cu), as well as analyze two methodologies for preparing the metallic surface for analysis by microscopy. The characterization techniques used were X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Optical Microscopy (MO) and nano hardness, the sample surfaces were prepared by conventional and electrolytic polishing. It was observed that the electrolytically polished samples were very bright and showed the grain contours with greater clarity, the same results were not evidenced by conventional polishing. The copper obtained by the cyanide-free bath showed smaller grain sizes and a greater hardness inside them, when compared to commercial Cu. The diffractogram showed high intensity peaks for the electrolytic Cu in the planes (200) and (111) showing a greater preferential crystallographic orientation in the directions of these planes. Finally, the SEM showed a segregation of a phase in the electrolytic Cu, caused by the electrodeposition and also the shapes of the polygonal grains with globular microcavities of the commercial Cu.

Resumo Este trabalho consiste em um experimento didático cujo objetivo é simular uma observação de exoplanetas por meio da detecção da variação da iluminância da estrela hospedeira. Para isso, utilizamos a técnica que detecta o efeito da sombra do exoplaneta quando esse transita diante de sua estrela hospedeira, conhecida como “método do trânsito”. Essa técnica é baseada na redução do brilho de uma estrela quando o exoplaneta transita na sua frente percorrendo o seu disco, que funciona com uma pequena porcentagem de planetas cujos planos orbitais estejam alinhados com a linha de visão do observador. Nesta proposta didática, uma lâmpada faz papel da estrela hospedeira, uma esfera construída em papel-alumínio representa o exoplaneta a ser observado e o detector de iluminância é o luxímetro embutido em um smartphone. Para representar a órbita do exoplaneta, um pêndulo cônico foi construído sendo seu prumo a esfera de papel-alumínio. Os resultados da variação da iluminância são obtidos via aplicativo phyphox e interpretados à luz do modelo teórico utilizado no método do trânsito.

Abstract This work consists of a didactic experiment which aims to simulate the observation of exoplanets by detecting the variation in the illuminace of light from the host star. For this, we use the technique that detect the effect of the exoplanet's shadow when it transits in front of its host star, known as the “transit method”. This technique is based on reducing the brightness of a star when the exoplanet transits in front of its disk, which works with a small percentage of planets whose orbital planes are aligned with the observer's line of sight. In this didactic proposal, a lamp plays the role of the host star, a sphere made of aluminum foil represents the exoplanet to be observed and the illuminance intensity detector is the luxmeter built into a smartphone. To represent the exoplanet's orbit, a conical pendulum was built being its bob the aluminum foil sphere. The results of the variation of illuminance are obtained via the phyphox app and interpreted considering the theoretical model used in the transit method.

RESUMO As hérnias inguinais são um problema frequente e o seu reparo representa a cirurgia mais comumente realizada por cirurgiões gerais. Nos últimos anos, novos princípios, produtos e técnicas têm mudado a rotina dos cirurgiões que precisam reciclar conhecimentos e aperfeiçoar novas habilidades. Além disso, antigos conceitos sobre indicação cirúrgica e riscos de complicações vêm sendo reavaliados. Visando criar um guia de orientações sobre o manejo das hérnias inguinais em pacientes adultos, a Sociedade Brasileira de Hérnias reuniu um grupo de experts com objetivo de revisar diversos tópicos, como indicação cirúrgica, manejo perioperatório, técnicas cirúrgicas, complicações e orientações pós-operatórias.

ABSTRACT Inguinal hernias are a frequent problem and their repair is the most commonly performed procedure by general surgeons. In the last years, new principles, products and techniques have changed the routine of surgeons, who need to recycle knowledge and perfect new skills. In addition, old concepts regarding surgical indication and risk of complications have been reevaluated. In order to create a guideline for the management of inguinal hernias in adult patients, the Brazilian Hernia Society assembled a group of experts to review various topics, such as surgical indication, perioperative management, surgical techniques, complications and postoperative guidance.

RESUMO: O óleo de pequi é rico em compostos bioativos, os quais podem ser encapsulados para aumentar a proteção a fatores extrínsecos. A tecnologia de microencapsulamento, além de retardar a degradação do composto ativo, possibilita mascarar aromas e sabores indesejáveis. A coacervação complexa é uma técnica baseada na interação eletrostática entre dois biopolímeros com cargas opostas, que formam uma matriz complexada ao redor do agente de interesse. Entretanto, muitas vezes, se faz necessário o uso da reticulação para tornar as partículas mais rígidas. O objetivo deste trabalho foi produzir e caracterizar micropartículas de óleo de pequi em matriz de goma de cajueiro (GC) e gelatina (GE) reticulada com ácido tânico. As micropartículas de óleo de pequi reticuladas foram produzidas variando as concentrações de biopolímeros (0,5% a 1,5% m/v) e do ácido tânico, em relação à massa de biopolímeros (0,3% a 8,1% m/m), a partir de um delineamento de composto central rotacional. A proporção de GC, GE e óleo foi de 2:1:1 (m/m/m), respectivamente, em pH 4,5. O processo de reticulação foi realizado com ácido tânico por 30 minutos a 40 ºC. A formulação otimizada foi de 0,65% (m/v) de biopolímeros (GC e GE) e 6,9% (m/m) de ácido tânico. O aumento do percentual de ácido tânico na reticulação das partículas de óleo de pequi conferiu maior rendimento e eficiência de encapsulamento. A reticulação proporcionou aumento na temperatura de degradação do material, e consequente estabilidade térmica das partículas. O processo de reticulação foi vantajoso para a produção das micropartículas.

ABSTRACT: Pequi oil is rich in bioactive compounds which can be encapsulated to increase protection against extrinsic environmental factors. A delayed degradation of pequi oil may occur by using microencapsulation technology, in addition to masking unpleasant flavors and aromas. Complex coacervation is a technique based on the electrostatic interaction between two oppositely charged biopolymers which form a matrix complexed around an agent of interest. However, cross-linking the particles is often necessary in order to make them more rigid. The objective of this research was to produce and characterize pequi oil microparticles in a cashew gum (CG) and gelatin (GE) matrix cross-linked with tannic acid. Cross-linked pequi oil microparticles were produced by varying the concentrations of biopolymers (0.5% to 1.5%) and tannic acid (0.3% to 8.1%) using a rotational central compound design. Ratio of cashew gum, gelatin and oil was 2:1:1 (m/m/m);respectively, at pH 4.5. The cross-linking process was performed with tannic acid for 30 minutes at 40 °C. The optimized formulation by means of the rotational central compound design for microparticle formation was 0.65% biopolymers (CG and GE) and 6.9% tannic acid. Increasing the tannic acid percentage in the cross-linking of the pequi oil particles had a higher yield and encapsulation efficiency. Cross-linking provided an increase in the degradation temperature of material; and consequently, improved the thermal stability of the particles. The cross-linking process was advantageous in producing the microparticles.

RESUMO: Um coelho de seis anos de idade da raça Fuzzy Lop foi encaminhado a um hospital veterinário devido a uma queixa de claudicação. Além de uma subluxação vertebral, duas estruturas radiopacas e bem delimitadas foram identificadas pela avaliação radiográfica. Em um exame ultrassonográfico, as massas foram caracterizadas como formações parenquimatosas e heterogêneas, apresentando mineralização difusa e com formação de artefatos de reverberação, sugerindo a presença de gás. Estas duas estruturas foram extirpadas durante uma laparotomia e Clostridium tertium foi isolado. Este é o primeiro relato de infecção por C. tertium em um animal de estimação.

ABSTRACT: A 6-year-old Fuzzy Lop rabbit was referred to a veterinary hospital with a complaint of lameness. In addition to a vertebral subluxation, two radiopaque and well-defined structures were revealed by radiographic evaluation. Ultrasonographically, the masses were characterized as parenchymal structures with diffuse mineralization and formation of reverberation artifacts, suggesting presence of gas. These two structures were excised during a laparotomy and Clostridium tertium was isolated. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of C. tertium infection in a pet animal.

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the immunoexpression of glucose transporters 1 (GLUT-1) and 3 (GLUT-3) in keratocystic odontogenic tumors associated with Gorlin syndrome (SKOTs) and non-syndromic keratocystic odontogenic tumors (NSKOTs), and to establish correlations with the angiogenic index. Seventeen primary NSKOTs, seven recurrent NSKOTs, and 17 SKOTs were selected for the study. The percentage of immunopositive cells for GLUT-1 and GLUT-3 in the epithelial component of the tumors was assessed. The angiogenic index was determined by microvessel count. The results were analyzed statistically using the nonparametric Kruskal-Wallis test and Spearman’s correlation test. High epithelial immunoexpression of GLUT-1 was observed in most tumors (p = 0.360). There was a higher frequency of negative cases for GLUT-3 in all groups. The few GLUT-3-positive tumors exhibited low expression of this protein in epithelial cells. No significant difference in the angiogenic index was observed between groups (p = 0.778). GLUT-1 expression did not correlate significantly with the angiogenic index (p > 0.05). The results suggest that the more aggressive biological behavior of SKOTs when compared to NSKOTs may not be related to GLUT-1 or GLUT-3 expression. GLUT-1 may play an important role in glucose uptake by epithelial cells of KOTs and this process is unlikely related to the angiogenic index. GLUT-1 could be a potential target for future development of therapeutic strategies for KOTs.

Resumo Fundamento: Ainda não foi realizado um registro brasileiro para avaliar, na prática clínica diária, o atendimento a pacientes hipertensos tanto em serviços públicos quanto privados distribuídos pelas diversas regiões do país. Este conhecimento é importante como forma de verificar a efetividade deste atendimento. Objetivo: Documentar a prática clínica vigente para o tratamento da hipertensão arterial, através do conhecimento do perfil dos exames realizados, do tipo de tratamento recebido, do nível de controle da pressão arterial (PA) e da adesão ao tratamento. Métodos: Estudo nacional, observacional, prospectivo e multicêntrico que incluirá pacientes > 18 anos, hipertensos há ≥ 4 semanas, em acompanhamento em serviços públicos e privados e com assinatura do consentimento. Serão excluídos pacientes em diálise, internados nos últimos 30 dias, com insuficiência cardíaca classe III ou IV, gravidez ou amamentação, hepatopatia grave, acidente vascular cerebral ou infarto agudo nos 30 dias anteriores e doenças com prognóstico de sobrevida < 1 ano. As avaliações serão realizadas ao início e final do estudo, após acompanhamento por 1 ano. Parâmetros a serem avaliados incluirão dados antropométricos, hábitos de vida, PA, perfil lipídico, síndrome metabólica e adesão ao tratamento. Os desfechos primários serão internação por crise hipertensiva, evento cardiocirculatório e óbito cardiovascular, e os desfechos secundários serão internação por insuficiência cardíaca e necessidade de diálise. Uma análise de subgrupo avaliará a pressão central de forma não invasiva em 15% da amostra no início e final do estudo. A amostra estimada é de 3.000 indivíduos para prevalência de 5%, erro amostral de 2% e intervalo de confiança de 95%. Resultados: Os resultados serão apresentados após a avaliação final que ocorrerá quando encerrado 1 ano de seguimento. Conclusão: A análise deste registro trará melhor conhecimento sobre o tratamento da hipertensão no Brasil e possibilitará a otimização do mesmo, como forma de interferir no prognóstico da doença cardiovascular em nosso meio.

Abstract Background: A registry assessing the care of hypertensive patients in daily clinical practice in public and private centers in various Brazilian regions has not been conducted to date. Such analysis is important to elucidate the effectiveness of this care. Objective: To document the current clinical practice for the treatment of hypertension with identification of the profile of requested tests, type of administered treatment, level of blood pressure (BP) control, and adherence to treatment. Methods: National, observational, prospective, and multicenter study that will include patients older than 18 years with hypertension for at least 4 weeks, following up in public and private centers and after signing a consent form. The study will exclude patients undergoing dialysis, hospitalized in the previous 30 days, with class III or IV heart failure, pregnant or nursing, with severe liver disease, stroke or acute myocardial infarction in the past 30 days, or with diseases with a survival prognosis < 1 year. Evaluations will be performed at baseline and after 1 year of follow-up. The parameters that will be evaluated include anthropometric data, lifestyle habits, BP levels, lipid profile, metabolic syndrome, and adherence to treatment. The primary outcomes will be hospitalization due to hypertensive crisis, cardiocirculatory events, and cardiovascular death, while secondary outcomes will be hospitalization for heart failure and requirement of dialysis. A subgroup analysis of 15% of the sample will include noninvasive central pressure evaluation at baseline and study end. The estimated sample size is 3,000 individuals for a prevalence of 5%, sample error of 2%, and 95% confidence interval. Results: The results will be presented after the final evaluation, which will occur at the end of a 1-year follow-up. Conclusion: The analysis of this registry will improve the knowledge and optimize the treatment of hypertension in Brazil, as a way of modifying the prognosis of cardiovascular disease in the country.

Abstract This qualitative-descriptive investigation examining the influence exerted by experienced soccer-players on the ranking obtained from the four best-ranked by their teams in the last four FIFA World Cups (WC). They were divided into experienced-players (at least one WC participation [+1WC]) or non-experienced players (no previous participation [1WC]). Thereafter, they were classified according to their contribution in each of the playoff matches in a given WC: STARTER (started all matches); START/SUBST (started at least one match); SUBST/BENCH (did not start any matches, but replaced a player in at least one match); and BENCH (did not participate in matches). The sample was composed of 33.7% experienced and 66.3% non-experienced players. The number of players +1WC in finalist teams was significantly higher than in the non-finalist teams (p<0.05). In addition, when compared with the non-finalist teams, the finalists presented significantly higher number of players STARTER with +1WC (p<0.05). Possibly, the selection of experienced players to participate in WC may be an effective strategy to achieve better competitive performance.

Resumo O Canal de Passagem, Vitória, ES, é um sistema estuarino em processo de degradação ambiental devido à descarga de esgoto in natura e semitratado. Os usos da comunidade do entorno dos recursos locais estuarinos são conflitantes com a qualidade ambiental, o que pode oferecer riscos para a saúde pública. Os objetivos do presente trabalho foram: 1. avaliar a distribuição de coliformes termotolerantes dentro do HCP (método dos tubos múltiplos), relacionando-a com a distribuição das fontes de poluição fecal, a dinâmica de marés e parâmetros físico-químicos, e 2. avaliar os resultados dentro das leis brasileiras de limites sanitários para os variados usos da água e balneabilidade. Amostras foram feitas espacialmente e temporalmente, visando cobrir o ciclo de marés de sizígia no inverno, outono e primavera, e também cobrindo uma quadratura e uma sizígia na amostragem no verão. Foram considerados os parâmetros sanitários - coliformes termotolerantes, físicos e químicos e a ação das marés. Correlações significativas foram encontradas com o regime das marés e distribuição de coliformes. A conclusão retirada do trabalho foi que a distribuição de coliformes termotolerantes esteve relacionada com as fontes pontuais de poluição, e as concentrações foram diferentes entre as marés de quadratura e sizígia. Variação entre tais marés não é observada até o momento pela Legislação Brasileira para as águas balneáveis.

Abstract The Canal de Passagem (CP), Vitória - ES, is an estuarine system undergoing a process of environmental degradation due to the discharge of in natura and semi-treated sewage. The surrounding local community's use of the estuarine resources conflicts with environmental quality and this offers risks to public health. The objective of this study was 1. to evaluate the distribution of fecal coliforms in the HCP (multiple tubes method), relating it to the distribution of sources of fecal pollution, the dynamics of the tides and physico-chemical parameters, and 2. evaluate the results in the light of the limits established by Brazilian legislation to ensure the health of the users of the water whatever the use to which it is put. Samples were taken spatially and temporally, to assess the tidal cycle of the spring tide in the winter, autumn and spring seasons, and also of the neap and spring tides at two sampling events in the summer. The sanitary parameters - thermotolerant coliforms, physico-chemical, and tidal action, were considered. Meaningful correlations were found with the tidal regime. As conclusion, that the distribution of thermotolerant coliforms was related to the point sources of pollution, and the concentrations were different between spring and neap tides. This difference between tides is not taken into consideration by the Brazilian Bathing Water Legislation up to now.
