Resumo Com o aumento do número de mulheres privadas de liberdade em todo o mundo, a importância da implantação de estratégias específicas que devem ser aplicadas ao suporte oferecido a essas mulheres são importantes medidas sociais. O objetivo deste estudo é analisar a oferta dos recursos para a reinserção social de egressos do sistema prisional brasileiro, com o recorte de gênero. A proposta é realizar uma análise documental sobre estratégias governamentais e não governamentais direcionadas para este público, com recorte de gênero, por meio de uma matriz analítica pelo período compreendido entre 2020 e 2021. Os resultados mostram que há no país diversos programas voltados à reinserção social de egressos do sistema prisional, entretanto poucos apresentam um recorte de gênero. O tema reinserção social e sistema prisional foi identificado em 84 notícias em sítios dos organismos governamentais visitados, sendo 20 federais e 64 estaduais. Em 11 organismos internacionais atuando no Brasil e em 12 ONGs, somente seis apresentaram recorte de gênero. O desafio do sistema penitenciário brasileiro é incluir a abordagem de cidadania e dignidade humana no sistema prisional, incluindo uma abordagem da questão de gênero.

Abstract With the increasing number of women deprived of liberty worldwide, implementing specific strategies that should be applied to the support offered to these women are essential social measures. This study aims to analyze the supply of resources for the social reintegration of former inmates of the Brazilian prison system from a gender perspective. We propose to conduct a documentary analysis on governmental and non-governmental strategies aimed at this audience, with a gender perspective, through an analytical matrix for the 2020-2021 period. The results show several programs in the country aimed at the social reintegration of former prisoners; however, few have a gender perspective. The theme of social reintegration and the prison system was identified in 84 news items on government agencies’ websites, 20 of which were federal and 64 state, in 11 international organizations operating in Brazil, and 12 NGOs. Only six had a gender profile. The challenge for the Brazilian penitentiary system is to introduce the citizenship and human dignity approach in the prison system, including an approach to the gender issue.

ABSTRACT OBJETIVE To estimate the prevalence of psychological, physical, and sexual violence perpetrated against women by their intimate partner (IP) in Quilombola communities located in Espírito Santo State, Brazil. METHODS The data is from a population-based cross-sectional study of Quilombola women conducted from 2017 to 2018. In-person interviews collected information on women’s sociodemographic characteristics, behaviors, and their experience of violence perpetrated by their IP. The analysis used chi-square test and hierarchical logistic regression. RESULTS 219 women (94.8% of the invited ones) agreed to participate in the study. 59.0% (95%CI: 5.25–65.5) reported psychological violence; 41% (95%CI: 34.5–47.5) physical violence; and 8.2% (95%CI: 4.6–11.8) sexual violence. Psychological violence was associated with having three or more sexual partners in life, when compared to those who had up to two partners (p = 0,009), and previous violence involving other people outside of family increased the chance of suffering psychological violence by an IP more than nine times (p ≤ 0.001). Regarding physical violence, the association with use of barrier contraception (p = 0.031) and having a partner with other sexual partners (p = 0.024) were protective factors for IP violence. Having 3 or more sexual partners in the last 12 months (p = 0.006), partner using illicit drugs (p = 0,006), and alcoholism in the family (p = 0,001), increased the chance of suffer physical violence by the partner. Sexual violence perpetrated by the IP was associated with miscarriage (p = 0.016), partner using drugs (p = 0.020), and gynecological symptoms (p = 0.045). CONCLUSIONS These results showed the high frequency of intimate partner violence in Quilombola women and highlight the importance of reducing social and race inequities for interrupting the culture of violence against women.

Objective: To analyze the frequency and factors associated with the unspecified record of deaths from external causes in Brazil. Methods: Cross-sectional study of data from Mortality Information System, 2017. Univariate logistic regression was used to obtain odds ratios (OR) and confidence intervals (95%CI) of unspecified record by the explanation variables – (hospital deaths and certified by coroners). Results: Brazil registered 159,720 deaths from external causes; there were 38.9% of hospital occurrences, 83.4% certified by coroners and 21.7% of unspecified causes. Factors associated with the registration of unspecified external causes were hospital death (OR=2.00 – 95%CI 1.96;2.05) and the coroner's certification (OR=1.08 – 95%CI 1.04;1.11). Conclusion: The unspecified external cause in hospital death is greater than that of coroners' certification.

Resumen Objetivo Analizar la frecuencia y factores asociados al registro inespecífico de óbitos por causas externas en Brasil. Métodos Estudio transversal de datos del Sistema de Informaciones sobre Mortalidad, 2017. Se utilizó la regresión logística para obtener razones de probabilidades (odds ratio [OR]) e intervalo de confianza (IC95%) de registro inespecífico por las variables de explicación (óbitos hospitalarios y certificados por forenses). Resultados Brasil registró 159.720 óbitos por causas externas; hubo 38,9% en hospitales, 83,4% certificado por forenses y 21,7% por causas inespecíficas. Los factores asociados al registro de causas externas inespecíficas fueron el óbito hospitalario (OR=2,00 - IC95%1,96; 2,05) y la certificación del médico forense (OR=1,08 - IC95% 1,04; 1,11). Conclusión La causa externa inespecífica en el óbito hospitalario es mayor que la de la certificación de los forenses.

Abstract This article addresses the vector, sexual and vertical transmissions of the Zika virus, a topic covered in the Clinical Protocol and Therapeutic Guidelines for Comprehensive Care for People with Sexually Transmitted Infections, published by the Brazilian Ministry of Health in 2020. Although in Brazil Zika virus is transmitted more predominantly by Aedes aegypti, the vertical and sexual transmission routes are of significant importance for reproductive health. Sexual transmission demands specific prophylactic interventions, including the use of male or female condoms, especially among couples in a risk situation and planning pregnancy. Vertical transmission is linked to severe structural abnormalities of the central nervous system, and there is still no vaccine or known pharmacological resources that can prevent it. As the disease is predominantly asymptomatic, failure to comply with the basic principles of care and guidelines associated with the spread of the infection transcends the severity of the disease's symptoms.

We evaluated sweat, blood and urine specimens obtained from an ongoing cohort study in Brazil. Samples were collected at pre-established intervals after the initial rash presentation and tested for Zika virus (ZIKV) RNA presence by real-time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (rRT-PCR). From 254 participants with confirmed infection, ZIKV RNA was detected in the sweat of 46 individuals (18.1%). Sweat presented a median cycle threshold (Ct) of 34.74 [interquartile range (IQR) 33.44-36.04], comparable to plasma (Ct 35.96 - IQR 33.29-36.69) and higher than urine (Ct 30.78 - IQR 28.72-33.22). Concomitant detection with other specimens was observed in 33 (72%) of 46 participants who had a positive result in sweat. These findings represent an unusual and not yet investigated virus shedding through eccrine glands.

RESUMO: Introdução: Este artigo detalha os métodos utilizados na segunda Pesquisa Nacional de Vigilância Biológica e Comportamental (BBSS) do HIV, sífilis e hepatite B e C entre os homens que fazem sexo com homens no Brasil. Métodos: O método Respondent-driven Sampling (RDS) foi utilizado em 12 cidades em 2016. A amostra foi iniciada com cinco a seis sementes em cada cidade. Testes rápidos para o HIV, sífilis e Hepatite B e C foram oferecidos aos participantes. O software RDS Analyst com o estimador de amostragem sucessiva (SS) de Gile foi utilizado para ajustar os resultados como recomendado, gerando um peso para cada indivíduo para análises. Osdados das 12cidades foram unidos em um único banco e analisados usando as ferramentas de dados complexos do Stata 14.0, com cada cidade sendo tratada como seu próprio estrato. Resultados: A duração da coleta de dados variou de 5,9 a 17,6 semanas e 4.176 homens foram recrutados nas 12 cidades. Dois sites não alcançaram o tamanho da amostra alvo devido a uma demora de seis meses na aprovação local do Comitê de Ética. Todas as cidades atingiram a convergência na principal variável estudada (HIV). Conclusão: O BBSS foi representativo e concluído conforme planejado e dentro do orçamento. A descrição dos métodos aqui é mais detalhada do que o habitual, devido às novas ferramentas e requisitos de diagnóstico das novas diretrizes do STROBE-RDS.

ABSTRACT: Introduction: This paper details the methods used in the second national Biological and Behavioral Surveillance Survey (BBSS) of HIV, syphilis, and hepatitis B and C among men who have sex with men in Brazil. Methods: Respondent-driven sampling (RDS) was used in 12 cities in 2016. The targeted sample size was initiated with five to six seeds in each city. HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis B and C rapid tests were offered to participants. RDS Analyst with Gile’s successive sampling (SS) estimator was used to adjust results as recommended and a weight for each individual was generated for further analysis. Data for the 12 cities were merged and analyzed using Stata 14.0 complex survey data tools with each city treated as its own stratum. Results: Duration of data collection varied from 5.9 to 17.6 weeks. 4,176 men were recruited in the 12 cities. Two sites failed to achieve targeted sample size due to a six-month delay in local IRB approval. No city failed to reach convergence in our major outcome variable (HIV). Conclusion: The comprehensive BBSS was completed as planned and on budget. The description of methods here is more detailed than usual, due to new diagnostic tools and requirements of the new STROBE-RDS guidelines.

RESUMO Introdução: Travestis e mulheres transexuais recorrem ao uso de hormônios para modificação corporal. Devido a restrições de acesso a serviços de saúde, a automedicação é frequente. Objetivou-se descrever a prevalência autorrelatada do uso de hormônios por travestis e mulheres transexuais do Distrito Federal e fatores associados. Método: Trata-se de estudo transversal, com amostragem por Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS) e questionário do tipo Conhecimentos, Atitudes e Práticas (CAP) aplicado a 201 travestis e mulheres transexuais maiores de 18 anos, vinculadas ao Distrito Federal. As prevalências foram calculadas pelo estimador RDS-II. Foram utilizados modelos logísticos na investigação dos fatores associados. Resultados: Obteve-se uma amostra jovem (mediana de idade de 24 anos). A prevalência geral de uso contínuo de hormônios foi de 64,5%. A formulação mais utilizada foi a que combina estrogênio e progesterona (86,2%), nas vias injetável (75,1%) e oral (66%). A maioria das participantes (84%) consegue os hormônios sem receituário médico. As orientações sobre o uso desses hormônios vêm de seus pares, em 41% dos casos. Observou-se que o uso contínuo de hormônios está associado à raça, renda e idade, assim como a busca por orientação de profissionais de saúde, que também está relacionada à escolaridade. Discussão: Nota-se que o processo de hormonização destas pessoas na busca pela feminilidade se reflete em altas taxas de automedicação. Conclusão: Este estudo contribui na visibilidade da necessidade de melhorar as condições de acesso destas pessoas a serviços de saúde.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Travestis and transgender women resort to the use of hormones for body modification. Due to restrictions in the access to health services, self-medication is frequent. The aim of this study was to describe the self-reported prevalence of hormones used by travestis and transgender women in the Federal District. Method: This is a cross-sectional study with Respondent Driven Sampling (RDS) and Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices questionnaire (KAP) along with travestis and transgender women over 18 years in the FD. Prevalence was calculated using the RDS-II estimator. Logistic models were used to investigate the associated factors. A total of 201 volunteers participated. Results: There was a young sample (median age of 24 years). The overall prevalence of continuous use of hormones was 64.5%. The most used formulation was the combination of estrogen and progesterone (86.2%) by injectable (75.1%) and oral (66%) administration. Most participants (84%) got the hormones without a prescription. Guidance on the use of these hormones came from their peers in 41% of the cases. We observed that the continuous use of hormones is associated with race, income and age, as well as the search for guidance of healthcare professionals, which is also associated with schooling. Discussion: The reality of the process of hormone use by these people in the quest for femininity is reflected in high rates of self-medication. Conclusion: This study contributes to the visibility of the need to improve the access conditions of these people to health services.

Resumo Objetivo: descrever a epidemia de HIV/aids no Rio Grande do Sul e região metropolitana de Porto Alegre (RMPA), Brasil, no período 1980-2015. Métodos: estudo descritivo, com dados dos sistemas de informações do Ministério da Saúde. Resultados: foram registrados 83.313 casos de aids no estado; nos períodos de 1980-1990, 1991-2000 e 2001-2015, as taxas de detecção no estado foram de 1,1, 17,2 e 40,3 por 100 mil hab., respectivamente, e na RMPA, 2,4, 33,6 e 66,9/100 mil hab.; as taxas de mortalidade pela doença foram de 0,5, 8,5 e 12,6/100 mil hab. no estado, e 1,3, 17,3 e 21,7/100 mil hab. na RMPA; em 2001-2015, a taxa de detecção de gestantes HIV+ por 1.000 nascidos vivos foi de 8,1 no estado e 13,7 na RMPA, destacando-se usuários de drogas injetáveis no estado (8,2%) e na RMPA (8,9%). Conclusão: a epidemia apresenta-se generalizada na RMPA, com maior magnitude em relação ao estado.

Abstract Objective: to describe the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre (MRPA), Brazil, in the period 1980-2015. Methods: this was a descriptive study using data from Ministry of Health information systems. Results: 83.313 AIDS cases were recorded in the state; during the periods 1980-1990, 1991-2000 and 2001-2015, the detection rates in the state were 1.1, 17.2 and 40.3/100,000 inhab., respectively, and in the MRPA the detection rates were 2.4, 33.6 and 66.9/100,000 inhabitants, while mortality rates were 0.5, 8.5 and 12.6/100,000 inhab. in the state, and 1.3, 17.3 and 21.7/100,000 inhab. in the MRPA; in 2001-2015, the detection rate of HIV+ pregnant women per 1.000 live births in the state was 8.1 and 13.7 in the MRPA, while injecting drug users in the state (8.2%) and in the MRPA (8.9%) also stood out. Conclusion: the epidemic is generalized in the MRPA and with greater magnitude in relation to the state.

Resumen Objetivo: describir la epidemia de VIH/SIDA en el estado de Rio Grande do Sul y región metropolitana de Porto Alegre (RMPA), Brasil, en el período 1980-2015. Métodos: estudio descriptivo con datos de los sistemas de información del Ministerio de Salud.
