Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar modelos hipsométricos, volumétricos e de afilamento para estimar a altura, o volume e o perfil do fuste de árvores de clones de eucalipto (Eucalyptus grandis × Eucalyptus urophylla), em sistema agrossilvipastoril. Foram coletados dados de parcelas permanentes em sistema agrossilvipastoril com oito anos de idade, composto por três clones de eucalipto (VE01, VE06 e VE07), localizado no município de Coronel Xavier Chaves, no estado de Minas Gerais, Brasil. Dois modelos hipsométricos, três volumétricos e quatro de afilamento foram ajustados aos dados de cada clone e comparados entre si para selecionar o mais bem ajustado. As equações se ajustaram bem aos dados observados, e aquelas dos modelos de Campos, Schumacher-Hall e Garay se destacaram como as melhores. Além disto, o teste F de Graybill mostrou que as equações hipsométricas e volumétricas devem ser ajustadas separadamente para cada material genético. O modelo de Garay foi o melhor modelo de afilamento para estimar perfis de fuste de todos os clones, com uma única equação.

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate height-diameter, volumetric, and taper models to estimate the height, volume, and bole profile of trees of eucalypt clones (Eucalyptus grandis × Eucalyptus urophylla) in an agrosilvopastoral system. Data were collected from permanent plots in an eight year-old agrosilvopastoral system, composed by three eucalypt clones (VE01, VE06, and VE07), located in the municipality of Coronel Xavier Chaves, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Two height-diameter, three volumetric, and four taper models were fit to the data of each clone and compared to each other, in order to select the best-fitting one. The equations fitted well to the observed data, and those of the models of Campos, Schumacher-Hall, and Garay stood out as the best ones. In addition, Graybill’s F-test showed that the height-diameter and volumetric equations must be fitted separately for each genetic material. The model of Garay was the best taper model to estimate the bole profiles of all clones using a single equation.

RESUMO A alta precisão na estimativa do volume de madeira em florestas tropicais é necessária para apoiar o manejo sustentável. Os scanners a laser terrestres (TLS) podem fornecer estimativas de alta qualidade a partir de variáveis estruturais de árvores. Comparamos estimativas de variáveis do fuste obtidas por TLS e métodos tradicionais em nível de árvore e equações de volume ajustadas usando dados para uma floresta semidecídua sazonal secundária (Mata Atlântica). Também discutimos a viabilidade do TLS em fragmentos florestais hiperdiversos e secundários. Medições tradicionais (Método I) e medidas baseadas em TLS (Método II) foram realizadas em 29 árvores pertencentes a 10 espécies. Foram geradas equações de volume baseadas nos modelos de Schumacher e Hall (SH) e Spurr. O DAP (diâmetro à altura do peito) foi igual para ambos os métodos. A altura total foi superestimada pelo Método II, e a altura comercial apresentou baixa correlação entre os dois métodos. As equações volumétricas ajustadas foram diferentes para ambos os métodos, e aquelas baseadas no modelo de volume SH apresentaram o melhor ajuste. Nossos resultados nos levam a inferir que em florestas secundárias hiperdiversas, as variáveis estruturais das árvores devem ser obtidas via TLS. No entanto, atenção deve ser dada à oclusão das árvores alvo pelo sub-bosque em regeneração e às estimativas de altura, que podem ser influenciadas pelas características da copa das espécies dominantes.

ABSTRACT High accuracy in timber volume estimation in tropical forests is required to support sustainable management. Terrestrial laser scanners (TLS) can provide high-quality estimates from tree structural variables. We compared stem variable estimations obtained by TLS and traditional methods at tree level and adjusted volume equations using data of a secondary seasonal semideciduous forest (Atlantic Forest). We also discuss the feasibility of TLS in hyperdiverse and secondary forest fragments. Traditional measurements (Method I) and TLS-based measurements (Method II) were performed on 29 trees belonging to 10 species. Volume equations based on the Schumacher and Hall (SH) and Spurr models were generated. DBH (diameter at breast height) was equal for both methods. Total height (TH) was overestimated by Method II, and commercial height (CH) showed a low correlation between the two methods. The adjusted volumetric equations were different for both methods, and those based on the SH volume model showed the best fit. Our results lead us to infer that in hyperdiverse secondary forests, tree structural variables should be obtained via TLS. However, attention should be given to the occlusion of target trees by the regenerating understory and to height estimates, which can be biased by the crown characteristics of the dominant species.

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to compare different alternatives to estimate the stem volume of individual trees in four different forest formations in the Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The data were obtained in a forest inventory procedure performed by the Minas Gerais Technological Center Foundation. The stem volumes were computed by the Smalian expression up to the outside bark diameter equal to 4 cm. The volume data of outside bark, diameters (DBH) and total heights were used to fit a Schumacher and Hall equation for each forest formation, considering the structures of the linear fixed and mixed models. Next, 100 Multilayer Perceptron artificial neural networks (ANN) were trained in a supervised manner. In addition, we evaluated eight support-vector machine regression (SVMR). The criteria to evaluate the performance of all the alternatives studied were: the correlation between the observed and estimated volumes, the square root of the mean square error and the frequency distribution by percentage relative error class. After the analyzes, all the alternatives were verified to estimate the volume of the individual trees in the different forest formations. Although the alternatives presented close statistics in the validation process, the graphical analysis of the error distribution showed greater precision of the estimates of the mixed linear models for the four formations. Given the results, it is concluded that there is no absolute superiority of one alternative over the others, and that all of them should be evaluated to find the one which best describes or explains the dataset.

Abstract The objective of this study was to assess and compare two methodologies to predict the mortality of individual trees in a seasonal semi-deciduous forest located in the municipality of Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The data came from 10 permanent plots and were randomly divided into two groups: fitting (6 plots) and validation (4 plots). When assessing Methodology 1, the mortality was considered a dichotomous variable in a logistic model, assuming a value of 1 for a dead tree and 0 for a living tree. In Methodology 2, the mortality probability was estimated by the group of trees for each plot and for each measurement interval. After the analysis, it was observed that Methodology 2 provided more consistent mortality estimates when compared to the mortality estimated by Methodology 1.

Resumo A modelagem do recrutamento em florestais tropicais é importante para estudos de sustentabilidade do manejo florestal, por dar subsídio adequado à recuperação do estoque de madeira. O objetivo do trabalho foi estimar o recrutamento após a colheita de madeira, empregando um modelo de rede neural artificial (RNA). A área de estudo está localizada na Floresta Nacional do Tapajós (55°00’ W, 2°45’ S), Pará. Em 64 ha da área de estudo, em 1979, foi realizada colheita intensiva de 72,5 m3 ha-1. Em 1981 foram instaladas, aleatoriamente, 36 parcelas permanentes de 50 m x 50 m. Essas parcelas foram mensuradas em 1982, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2007, 2010 e 2012. Para modelar o recrutamento foram consideradas as variáveis da subparcela-alvo e a sua vizinhança. As estimativas obtidas no treino e na generalização da RNA foram avaliadas pelas estatísticas: correlação () e raiz quadrada do erro quadrático médio (RQRQM), sendo obtido RQRQM 35,6% e 0,89. Foi possível modelar a tendência do recrutamento ao longo do tempo em florestas tropicais, após a colheita de madeira.

Abstract Recruitment models in tropical forests are important for studies on forest management sustainability because they provide adequate support to recovery of wood stocks. The objective of this work was to estimate recruitment after wood harvesting by using an artificial neural network (ANN) model. The study area is located at Tapajós National Forest (55° 00’ W, 2° 45’ S), Pará state. In 64 ha of the study area, in 1979, an intensive harvest of 72.5 m3 ha-1 was carried out. In 1981, 36 permanent plots of 50 m x 50 m were randomly installed. These plots were measured in 1982, 1983, 1985, 1987, 1992, 1997, 2007, 2010 and 2012. For recruitment modeling, the variables of the target subplot and its vicinity were considered. The estimates obtained in ANN training and generalization were evaluated by statistics: correlation () and root mean square error (RMSE) were determined: RMSE 35.6% and 0.89. Recruitment tendency could be modeled over time in tropical forests after wood harvesting.

ABSTRACT Pinus palustris Mill. ecosystem is considered one of the most threatened of North America. In this context, studies on biomass quantification are fundamental for forest management plans. Thus, the objective of this study was to develop a set of allometric equations to predict total P. palustris stump-biomass. Biomass data were collected at different locations in the southeastern United States. A total of 119 allometric equations were fitted from the combination of explanatory variables: diameter at breast height (DBH), height (H), age (I), basal area (G), number of trees per hectare (N), site index (S) and quadratic diameter (Dq). One of the models that presented the lowest residual standard error (Sy.x) and root mean square error (RMSE) was ln(W) = -0.9978+0.7082.(H)+0.1009.ln(H.DBH)-0.5310.(N)-0.0003.ln(Dq). Therefore, the insertion of dendrometric variables characteristic of forest stands has great efficacy in biomass prediction for trees from different sites.

RESUMO As florestas secundárias de Mata Atlântica possuem um papel importante no contexto das mudanças climáticas por atuarem como sumidouro de carbono da atmosfera. Entretanto, essas florestas podem se transformar em fonte de carbono com o aumento da mortalidade de árvores. O conhecimento dessa mudança é possível mediante inventários florestais contínuos que forneçam informações sobre a dinâmica de crescimento das árvores. Desta forma, objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar a dinâmica de crescimento em carbono de um fragmento de Floresta Estacional Semidecidual, com 44,11 ha, situado no Parque Tecnológico de Viçosa - MG. Os inventários florestais foram realizados em vinte parcelas de 10 m x 50 m, nos anos de 2010 e 2015, em que todos os fustes com dap ≥ 5 cm foram mensurados, identificados botanicamente e classificados em grupos ecológicos. O volume do fuste foi obtido por meio de equação volumétrica. A biomassa e o carbono foram quantificados para os compartimentos acima do solo (fuste, galhos e folhas) e abaixo do solo (raízes). A dinâmica de crescimento em carbono foi avaliada por meio do incremento bruto (Ib) e incremento periódico anual em carbono das espécies (IPAli). O Ib foi de 12,72 MgC ha-1, incluindo o carbono dos fustes que ingressaram e morreram durante o período de monitoramento. O estoque de carbono aumentou 10,01 MgC ha-1, resultando em um IPAli de 2,00 MgC ha-1 ano-1. Assim, conclui-se que as árvores do fragmento florestal apresentam crescimento positivo do estoque de carbono em virtude do avanço sucessional, ratificando a importância das florestas secundárias de Mata Atlântica na mitigação de gases de efeito estufa da atmosfera.

ABSTRACT The secondary Atlantic forests play an important role in the context of climate change, acting as a carbon sink for the atmosphere. However, these forests can become a carbon source in case of increased tree mortality. Knowing this change is possible through continuous forest inventories that provide information on the dynamics of tree growth. Thus, the objective of this study was to evaluate the carbon growth dynamics of a Seasonal Semideciduous Forest fragment, with 44.11 ha, located in the Parque Tecnológico de Viçosa - MG. The forest inventories were carried out in twenty plots of 10 m x 50 m, in the years of 2010 and 2015, where all stems with dbh ≥ 5 cm were measured, botanically identified and classified in ecological groups. The stem volume was obtained through volumetric equation. Biomass and carbon stock were quantified for compartments located above the ground (stem, branches and leaves) and below ground (roots). The dynamics of carbon growth were evaluated by Gross Increment (GI) and Periodic Annual Increment in carbon of the species (PAI). The GI was 12.72 MgC ha-1, including the carbon from the stems that were recruited and died during the monitoring period. The carbon stock increased 10.01 MgC ha-1, resulting in an PAI of 2.00 MgC ha-1 year-1. Thus, it is concluded that the forest fragment present positive carbon stock growth due to successional progression, ratifying the importance of secondary forest of the Atlantic forest in the mitigation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Resumo: O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar métodos para obtenção do índice de sítio para povoamentos de eucalipto (Eucalyptus spp.), bem como avaliar seus impactos na estabilidade desse índice em bases de dados com e sem a presença de “outliers”. Foram testados três métodos, com uso de regressão linear, regressão quantílica e rede neural artificial. Foram utilizadas 22 parcelas permanentes de inventário florestal contínuo, medidas em árvores com idade de 23 a 83 meses. Os outliers foram identificados com uso de gráfico de boxplot. A rede neural artificial proporcionou melhores resultados que as regressões linear e quantílica, tanto para as estimativas de altura dominante quanto do índice de sítio. A estabilidade da classificação do índice de sítio obtida pela rede neural artificial também foi melhor que a obtida com os outros métodos, independentemente da presença ou da ausência de outliers na base de dados. Isso indica que a rede neural artificial é uma técnica sólida de modelagem na presença de outliers. Quando a causa da presença de outliers na base de dados não é conhecida, eles podem ser mantidos nela se técnicas como as de redes neurais artificiais ou de regressão quantílica forem utilizadas.

Abstract: The objective of this work was to compare methods of obtaining the site index for eucalyptus (Eucalyptus spp.) stands, as well as to evaluate their impact on the stability of this index in databases with and without outliers. Three methods were tested, using linear regression, quantile regression, and artificial neural network. Twenty-two permanent plots from a continuous forest inventory were used, measured in trees with ages from 23 to 83 months. The outliers were identified using a boxplot graphic. The artificial neural network showed better results than the linear and quantile regressions, both for dominant height and site index estimates. The stability obtained for the site index classification by the artificial neural network was also better than the one obtained by the other methods, regardless of the presence or the absence of outliers in the database. This shows that the artificial neural network is a solid modelling technique in the presence of outliers. When the cause of the presence of outliers in the database is not known, they can be kept in it if techniques as artificial neural networks or quantile regression are used.

Abstract Due to the great economic importance of coconut palm in Brazil and the development of a coconut breeding program intended to produce intravarietal hybrids, the present work aimed to ease the production of hybrids with the same morphological heritage. DNA was extracted from leaf samples of 13 dwarf coconut populations from Brazil, and PCR amplification was performed using 21 previously selected microsatellites. Furthermore, this study selected nine microsatellite markers with the potential to identify Green Dwarf x Yellow Dwarf hybrids and 16 microsatellites with the potential to identify Red Dwarf x Yellow Dwarf hybrids. In conclusion, SSR marker based on DNA Fingerprinting allowed the accurate identification of legitimate intravarietal hybrids since, for those crosses, the methodology of identification based on seedling color is not a viable alternative.

RESUMO A modelagem de crescimento e produção, a nível de distribuição diamétrica, é uma importante ferramenta para compreender a dinâmica florestal e prognosticar se a floresta funcionará como sumidouro ou fonte emissora de CO2. Desta forma, objetivou-se prognosticar a distribuição diamétrica e o estoque de carbono de um fragmento florestal utilizando a cadeia de Markov para avaliar os impactos da dinâmica de crescimento no sequestro de carbono da floresta. Vinte parcelas de 10x50 m foram inventariadas, nos anos de 2010 e 2015, contabilizando os fustes com dap > 5 cm. A distribuição diamétrica foi projetada para os anos de 2015 e 2020, considerando todo o fragmento e os grupos ecológicos (pioneiras e não-pioneiras). O estoque em volume foi obtido por meio de equação alométrica enquanto o de biomassa e carbono pela multiplicação do volume pela média da densidade básica e do teor de carbono da madeira, respectivamente. A distribuição diamétrica estimada para o fragmento e grupos ecológicos não diferiu estatisticamente dos valores observados pelo teste de Kolmogorov-Smirnov (p-valor < 0,05). O número de fustes ha-1 estimados do fragmento passou de 1692, em 2015, para 1841, em 2020. Já para as espécies pioneiras e não-pioneiras, o número de fustes ha-1 passou de 476 e 1203, em 2015, para 472 e 1362, em 2020, respectivamente. O estoque de carbono aumentou 5,69 MgC ha-1, sendo a maior contribuição das espécies não-pioneiras. Assim, conclui-se que a distribuição diamétrica continuará como “J-invertido” e o fragmento florestal seguirá atuando como sumidouro de carbono nos próximos anos.

ABSTRACT Growth and yield modeling at the diameter distribution level is an important tool to understand forest dynamics and to predict whether a forest will act as a CO2 emissions source or sink. Therefore, the objective of the present study was to determine the diameter distribution and carbon stock of a forest fragment using the Markov chain to evaluate the impact of growth dynamics on forest carbon capture. Twenty plots of 10x50m were inventoried, between 2010 and 2015, counting the stems with dbh > 5 cm. Diameter distribution was projected for 2015 and 2020, considering the whole fragment and the ecological groups (pioneer and non-pioneer tree species). The volume was determined using allometric equation while biomass and carbon was determined by multiplying the volume by the basic wood density and the carbon content, respectively. The diameter distribution estimated for the fragment and ecological groups did not differ statistically from the values observed using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test (p-value < 0.05). The number of stems ha-1 estimated in the fragment was from 1,692 in 2015 to 1,841 in 2020. For the pioneer and non-pioneer species, the number of stems ha-1 was from 476 and 1,203 in 2015 to 472 and 1,362 in 2020, respectively. The carbon stock increased 5.69 MgC ha-1, with the greater contribution coming from the non-pioneer species. Therefore, it was concluded that the diameter distribution would remain “J-inverted” and the forest fragment would continue to act as a carbon sink over the coming years.

RESUMO O presente estudo objetivou propor e implementar um modelo conceitual de sistema inteligente em um ambiente georreferenciado para dimensionar a frota de transporte de madeira. Para isso, foi utilizada a teoria dos sistemas multiagentes, a qual é uma sub-área da Inteligência Artificial Distribuída. O modelo proposto considera a utilização do mapeamento de talhões e estradas florestais, bem como de informações sobre as capacidades de carga de diferentes tipos de caminhões. O sistema foi idealizado para se adaptar às mudanças que ocorrem durante a operação de transporte florestal, tal como modificações no volume de madeira demandado ou inclusão de restrições das rotas utilizadas pelos veículos. Para seu desenvolvimento, foi utilizada a linguagem de programação Java considerando-se a biblioteca LPSolve para os cálculos de otimização do sistema, a plataforma JADE para desenvolvimento dos agentes e a ArcGIS Runtime para determiner as rotas ótimas de transporte. Cinco agentes foram modelados: transportador, controlador, roteador, carregador e descarregador. O modelo foi capaz de determiner a quantidade ótima de caminhões dentre os diferentes tipos disponíveis de forma a attender a demanda de madeira e considerando a disponibilidade de rotas, com foco na minimização dos custos totais do transporte da madeira. O sistema também foi capaz de se rearranjar após alterações nas rotas de transporte.

ABSTRACT This study aims to propose and implement a conceptual model of an intelligent system in a georeferenced environment to determine the design of forest transport fleets. For this, we used a multi-agent systems based tool, which is the subject of studies of distributed artificial intelligence. The proposed model considers the use of plantation mapping (stands) and forest roads, as well as information about the different vehicle transport capacities. The system was designed to adapt itself to changes that occur during the forest transport operation process, such as the modification of demanded volume or the inclusion of route restrictions used by the vehicles. For its development, we used the Java programming language associated with the LPSolve library for the optimization calculation, the JADE platform to develop agents, and the ArcGis Runtime to determine the optimal transport routes. Five agents were modelled: the transporter, controller, router, loader and unloader agents. The model is able to determine the amount of trucks among the different vehicles available that meet the demand and availability of routes, with a focus on minimizing the total costs of timber transport. The system can also rearrange itself after the transportation routes change during the process.

RESUMO O objetivo deste estudo foi de avaliar a eficiência do emprego de dados de análises total e parcial do tronco de árvores de Tectona grandis e de parcelas permanentes, para construção de curvas de índices de local e modelagem do crescimento e da produção, em nível de árvores individuais e de povoamento. Os dados foram obtidos em povoamentos localizados no estado do Mato Grosso, com idades, variando de 2 a 10 anos no momento do abate das árvores para análise de tronco. Nesse momento, foram instaladas 40 parcelas permanentes, que foram mensuradas nos cinco anos subsequentes. Dados de análise de tronco obtidos dessas parcelas foram utilizados para validação de um modelo de densidade variável. Esses modelos estimaram a produção com exatidão e consistência. Em seguida foi incluído os dados das parcelas permanentes aos de análise do tronco e o modelo foi reajustado. Pode ser concluído que a análise de tronco em árvores de Tectona grandis é uma alternativa eficiente para obter dados visando estudos de crescimento e produção. Também foi confirmada a possibilidade de agrupar dados passados, obtidos por análise de tronco, com parcelas permanentes, visando a modelagem do crescimento. Por fim, foi avaliada e confirmada a eficiência dos dados de análise de tronco para modelagem do crescimento em nível de árvores individuais.

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of using total and partial analysis data of the trunk of Tectona grandis trees and of permanent plots, for the construction of site index curves and growth and production modeling, at the level of individual trees and of the settlement. Data were collected in settlements located in the State of Mato Grosso, with ages ranging from 2 to 10 years at the time of tree logging for trunk analysis. At that time, 40 permanent plots were installed, that were measured in the five subsequent years. Trunk analysis data obtained from those plots were used for validation of a variable density model. This model estimated the production with accuracy and consistency. Then, data from permanent plots were added to those of trunk analysis and the model was readjusted. It can be concluded that the trunk analysis of Tectona grandis trees is an efficient alternative of data collection for growth and production studies. The possibility of grouping past data, obtained by trunk analysis, with permanent plots, for growth modeling purposes, was also confirmed. Finally, the efficiency of trunk analysis data for growth modeling at a level of individual trees was evaluated and confirmed.

RESUMO Neste trabalho, o objetivo foi testar o Método da Altura Relativa na cubagem de árvores em pé de Anadenanthera peregrina. Testaram-se, então, quatro diferentes maneiras de se empregar este método, comparando-os com um modelo de taper selecionado dentre vários outros disponíveis na literatura. Foram utilizados dados de 110 árvores-amostra cubadas em pé por meio do Pentaprisma de Weller. Para descrever o perfil do fuste de árvores de Anadenanthera peregrina, o Método da Altura Relativa apresentou expressiva superioridade quando se usaram todas as árvores e, quando se usaram partes destas, obteve-se o mesmo nível de acurácia que o uso de dados reais de cubagem no ajuste de modelos de taper.

ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to test the Relative Height Method in the scaling of standing trees of Anadenanthera peregrina. Thus, four different approaches of the use of this method were tested and then compared with a taper model selected among those available in the literature. Data from 110 standing tree samples scaled by the Weller Pentaprism were used. To describe the bole profile of Anadenanthera peregrina trees, the Relative Height Method showed an expressive superiority when all the trees were used, and, when part of them was used, the level of accuracy was the same as that of the use of actual scale data in the adjustment of the taper models.

RESUMO Este trabalho teve por objetivo ajustar equações para estimar o estoque de carbono por hectare nos fustes das árvores, em função de variáveis da floresta obtidas por meio da amostragem por ponto horizontal (método de Bitterlich). Foram amostrados 55 pontos, com um fator de área basal igual a 1, em fragmentos de floresta estacional semidecidual, no município de Viçosa, Minas Gerais. Após o ajuste e a avaliação de diferentes modelos de regressão lineares e não lineares, verificou-se que as equações referentes ao modelo 8 (não linear) foram as mais precisas para estimar o estoque de carbono por hectare nos fustes das árvores.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to adjust equations to estimate the carbon stock per hectare in stems of trees in function of forest variables, obtained by horizontal point sampling (Bitterlich method). Were sampled 55 points with a basal area factor K = 1, in natural forest fragments, located at Viçosa, Minas Gerais. After adjustment and evaluation of different regression models, was verified that the model 8 (non-linear) were the most precise to estimate the carbon stock per hectare in the stems of trees.

RESUMO Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar um processo de regulação cooperativa de produtores florestais, em comparar com o método de regulação clássico e individual das propriedades. Vinte propriedades florestais foram utilizadas 20 propriedades florestais como exemplo para elaboração de três cenários de regulação florestal: 1) regulação individual, 2) regulação em grupo, e 3) regulação cooperativa. O Valor Presente Líquido (VPL) dos cenários foram otimizados a partir de modelos de programação matemática, e comparados com um cenário base, sem regulação florestal. Para a regulação cooperativa proposta, as propriedades tiveram um fator de proporção para distribuição da renda líquida anual, calculado a partir do resultado do cenário base. Comparando os resultados da maximização do VPL dos cenários 1 e 3 com o cenário sem regulação, o custo da regulação individual foi, em média, de 25%, enquanto que para regulação cooperativa foi de 11%, ou seja, redução 14% no custo da regulação das propriedades. A regulação cooperativa apresentou ainda a vantagem de menor divisão das áreas das propriedades quando comparado à regulação individual.

ABSTRACT This study aims to assess the cooperative regulation process of forestry producers in comparison to the traditional individual regulation of properties. Twenty (20) forest properties are studied as examples of the development of three forest regulation scenarios: 1) individual regulation, 2) group regulation, and 3) cooperative regulation. The Net Present Value (NPV) of each of the scenarios is optimized according to mathematical programming models and compared to a baseline scenario without forest regulation. According to the proposed cooperative regulation, properties had a proportion factor for annual net revenue distribution calculated from results of the baseline scenario. By comparing the NPV maximization results from scenarios 1 and 3 with the non-regulation scenario, the cost for individual regulation is on average 25%, while being only 11% for cooperative regulation, that is, a 14% reduction in property regulation costs. Additionally, cooperative regulation had the advantage of dividing properties into fewer areas when compared to individual regulation.
