Resumo Este artigo reflete acerca da poética do artista italiano Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916) tomando como eixo o tema da mulher em sua obra pictórica e escultórica, temática de importância na obra do artista, utilizada ainda em desenhos e telas de sua fase pré-futurista no sentido de compreender as relações entre os corpos, a luz e a atmosfera. A representação específica de mulheres junto a janelas e balcões persistiu em seus anos futuristas e possibilitou a expansão e o aprofundamento de suas pesquisas relacionadas à percepção da luz e sua incidência nos corpos, bem como a formulação do conceito de “escultura-ambiente”.

Abstract This article intends to carry out a reflection on the poetics of Italian artist Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916), taking the subject of women in his pictorial and sculptural work as axis. This theme has a particular importance in the artist’s works, and was used in drawings and paintings of his pre-futuristic stage in order to understand the relationship among bodies, light and atmosphere. The specific representation of women at windows and balconies persisted in his futuristic years and enabled the expansion and deepening of his researches related to perception of light and its incidence on bodies, as well as the concept of “sculpture of environment”.

No ano de 1908, Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916), artista do Futurismo italiano, produziu a segunda versão do desenho "Beata solitudo - Sola beatitudo", obra que expressa o contraste entre os valores antigos e modernos vivenciado pelo artista em seus primeiros anos em Milão. Este artigo procura analisar as principais influências estéticas que conduziram Boccioni na elaboração desse desenho, um dos mais representativos dentro de sua poética pré-futurista, e de que maneira essa obra antecipa os principais elementos de sua arte propriamente futurista.

In the year of 1908, Umberto Boccioni (1882-1916), artist of the Italian Futurism, produced a second version of the drawing "Beata solitudo - Sola beatitudo", a work which expresses the contrast between the ancient and the modern values, experienced by the artist in his first years living in Milan. This article intends to study the main aesthetical influences which have guided Boccioni in this work, one of the most important ones in his pre-futurist aesthetics, as well as to demonstrate how this work anticipates the main elements of his futurist art.
