Abstract In this work, a method using ATR-FT-MIR and iPLS was developed to quantify whey protein supplement adulteration with rice flour. The original vanilla flavor commercial whey protein samples were adulterated with commercial rice flour with concentrations between 11.49% to 29.14% (w/w). After the adulteration, the ATR-FT-MIR spectra were obtained with no additional preparation procedure. The iPLS model analysis was performed using RStudio software with the mdatools package. The RMSEC was 1.26, the R2= 0.954 and the cross-validation error (RMSECV) was 3.31. The prediction error (RMSEP) for the validation set was equal 3.48 and the validation R2 was 0.610. These parameters, associated with the fact that the method does not require sample preparation, demonstrate the procedure viability as a tool to quantify adulterations of whey protein with rice flour.

Using high quality epitaxial layers, we have obtained direct evidence of the band inversion in the Pb1-xSn xTe system .The samples, covering the whole composition range, were grown by molecular beam epitaxy on (111)BaF2 substrates. A minimumin the resistivity as a function of temperature was observed for all samples with Sn composition 0.35 <= x <= 0.70. In the same samples and at the same temperature, temperature dependent optical transmission measurements have revealed a change in signal of the energy gap temperature derivative, a direct evidence of the band inversion. However, the temperature for which the inversion occurs is not the one expected by the band inversion model. This discrepancy is supposed to be due to the Burstein-Moss shift caused by the relatively high hole concentration observed in these samples.

Trinta amostras de solos foram selecionadas com o objetivo de caracterizar o Fator Capacidade de Fósforo (FCP) e sua relação com propriedades de solos de Entre Ríos, Argentina. Foram estimadas isotermas de adsorção e realizado um teste rápido de adsorção de P, denominado P-remanescente. As equações de Freundlich e Langmuir descreveram adequadamente o fenômeno de adsorção de P. A capacidade máxima de adsorção variou de 46 a 716 mg kg-1 de P no solo, apresentando os solos analisados de muito baixo a médio FCP. A capacidade de adsorção de P aumentou com a quantidade de argila e não foi afetada pelo teor de carbono orgânico do solo. O P-remanescente permitiu caracterizar os solos em relação ao fator capacidade e estimar sua capacidade máxima de adsorção de P.

Samples of 30 soils were taken with the objective of characterizing the Capacity Factor of Phosphorus (CFP) and its relation with several properties of soils of Entre Ríos, Argentina. Isotherms of adsorption and a quick test of P adsorption were estimated. Langmuir and Freundlich equations described the adsorption phenomenon satisfactorily. The maximum adsorption capacity varied between 46 and 716 mg kg-1 of P in the soil, considering that the soils analyzed have from medium to low CFP. The adsorption capacity of P increased with clay content and wasn't affected by the soil's organic carbon concentration. The quick adsorption test permitted the characterization of the buffer capacity of soils and the estimate of its maximum adsorption capacity of P.
