A caracterização geomorfométrica da utilização dos solos predominantes de uma bacia hidrográfica é importante para o entendimento da dinâmica dos processos que envolvem o balaço hidrológico e o transporte de sedimentos. Objetivou-se, com este trabalho, a caracterização dos atributos morfométricos da Bacia Hidrográfica do Alto Meia Ponte, procurando associá-los com as classes de solos predominantes na área da bacia com a sua utilização e como analisar a semelhança geométrica entre as sub-bacias que a compõem. Em todas as etapas do trabalho se utilizaram de programas de SIG, carta topográfica do IBGE e imagens do satélite Landsat TM5 e de levantamentos de campo. Obtidos os resultados verificou-se que a Sub-Bacia Sb2, com predominância de Argissolos e Cambissolos, apresentou um padrão de drenagem mais ramificado porém, devido ao seu formato e à posição na paisagem, ela está mais propensa aos picos de cheia em resposta a chuvas de grandes intensidades e, portanto, mais vulnerável aos processos de erosão e transporte de sedimentos.

The geomorphometric characterization and the land use of a watershed is important to understand the dynamics of the processes involving the hydrologic balance and sediment transport. In this context, the aim of this study was to characterize the morphometric attributes of the Upper Meia Ponte river watershed, trying to associate them with the predominant soil types and land use, and analyze the geometric similarity among the sub-basins that comprise it. At all stages of the study GIS programs was used, the IBGE topographic maps and Landsat TM5 satellite images and field surveys. The results showed that the sub-basin Sb2, predominantly Ultisols and Inceptisol, has a more branched drainage pattern and due to its shape and position in the landscape, is more prone to spikes in full in response to large rainfall intensities and is, therefore, more vulnerable to erosion and sediment transport.

INTRODUÇÃO: A intervenção coronária percutânea (ICP) tem importante papel no tratamento da doença arterial coronária, em decorrência do desenvolvimento tecnológico e da ampliação de sua utilização nos cenários clínicos de maior complexidade. Apresentamos a experiência de serviço de hemodinâmica que iniciou sua atividade há cinco anos, localizado em hospital em Campinas (SP). MÉTODOS: De 2006 a 2011, 518 pacientes foram submetidos consecutivamente a ICP no Hospital Vera Cruz e incluídos neste estudo. As características clínicas, angiográficas e do procedimento e os resultados clínicos hospitalares foram analisados. RESULTADOS: A média de idade dos pacientes foi de 65,8 + 12,2 anos, 73,5% eram do sexo masculino, 29,9% eram diabéticos e metade dos procedimentos foi realizada na vigência de síndrome coronária aguda. No total, foram tratadas 890 lesões (74% delas do tipo B2/C), sendo implantado 1,6 stent/paciente, 37,1% dos quais farmacológicos. O diâmetro e o comprimento do stent foram, respectivamente, de 3,01 + 0,53 mm e 23,2 + 7 mm. O sucesso do procedimento foi de 93,6%, óbito ocorreu em 2,9% dos pacientes, acidente vascular cerebral em 0,8%, infarto do miocárdio em 3,5%, ICP de urgência em 0,8%, e trombose de stent em 0,97%. Hipertensão arterial [odds ratio (OR) 4,48, intervalo de confiança de 95% (IC 95%) 1,32-15,16; P = 0,016] e diabetes (OR 7,24, IC 95% 1,69-31,05; P = 0,008) foram preditores independentes de eventos adversos cardíacos e cerebrovasculares maiores (ECCAM) hospitalares. CONCLUSÕES: O sucesso do procedimento e a baixa ocorrência de ECCAM demonstram a efetividade e a segurança da ICP no atendimento de pacientes da prática clínica diária tratados em um novo serviço de cardiologia intervencionista, inserido em hospital localizado fora da capital do Estado de São Paulo.

BACKGROUND: Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) plays an important role in the treatment of coronary artery disease, as a result of technological development and its wide application in different clinical scenarios of greater complexity. We present data from a cath lab that started its activity five years ago at a private hospital in the city of Campinas (SP). METHODS: From 2006 to 2011, 518 consecutive patients were submitted to PCI at the Vera Cruz Hospital and were included in this study. Clinical, angiographic and procedural characteristics and the in-hospital clinical outcomes were analyzed. RESULTS: Patient average age was 65.8 + 12.2 years, 73.5% were male, 29.9% were diabetics and half of procedures were performed during an acute coronary syndrome. A total of 890 lesions (74% B2/C type) were treated with 1.6 stents/patient, 37.1% of them were drug eluting stents. Stent diameter and length were 3.01 + 0.53 mm and 23.2 + 7 mm, respectively. The procedure success was 93.6%, death occurred in 2.9% of the patients, stroke in 0.8%, myocardial infarction in 3.5%, reintervention in 0.8% and stent thrombosis in 0.97%. Hypertension [odds ratio (OR) 4.48, 95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.32-15.16; P = 0.016] and diabetes (OR 7.24, 95% CI 1.69-31.05; P = 0.008) were independent predictors of in-hospital major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE). CONCLUSIONS: The overall procedural success and low incidence of MACCE demonstrated the efficacy and safety of PCI in the daily clinical practice in a new interventional cardiology service, localized in a hospital outside the capital of the state of São Paulo.

Populations of Asterina stellifera Möbius, 1859 are declining in southern Brazil and today the species is on the Brazilian list of endangered species. Here we experimentally investigate the ecological role played by A. stellifera as a predator on the rocky substrate community by increasing densities of this species. Starfish taken from other, nearby, locations were added to three replicate plots and their density was maintained every 15 days. None of the total of 32 species that were identified in the encrusting community appeared to be influenced by the experiment. Two species, the barnacle Chthamalus bisinuatus Pilsbry, 1916 and the algae Gracilaria verrucosa (Hudson), showed small apparent responses to predation. We found that A. stellifera only exerts weak predation pressure on the community, even at high densities. This result is strikingly different from that observed for similar species in the northern hemisphere and in Australia.

OBJETIVO: Analisar a aplicabilidade do retalho fáscio-cutâneo em V-Y da região posterior da coxa na reparação de lesões isoladas ou múltiplas nas regiões glútea e perineal. MÉTODO: Foram submetidos a tratamento cirúrgico 20 pacientes, portadores de 25 úlceras nas regiões glútea e perineal, sendo 23 delas úlceras por pressão, um pós-abscesso perianal e um pós-trauma perineal. Em todos os pacientes a reparação foi realizada com o retalho fáscio-cutâneo da região posterior da coxa. O retalho foi confeccionado com base súpero-lateral, preservando-se os ramos fáscio-cutâneos das artérias glútea inferior, primeira e segunda perfurantes no tratamento de úlceras isquiáticas. Nas associações de úlcera isquiática com úlcera sacral, adicionou-se ao retalho uma extensão fáscio-cutânea da região glútea para tratamento cirúrgico em tempo único. Foi realizado retalho com base súpero-medial, preservando-se o ramo fáscio-cutâneo da artéria glútea inferior no tratamento das úlceras trocantéricas. Nas associações com úlcera sacral, acrescentou-se ao retalho posterior da coxa uma extensão fáscio-cutânea da região glútea, que permitiu o fechamento de todas as úlceras em um só tempo cirúrgico. Nas associações de úlceras trocantéricas e isquiáticas, realizou-se o retalho com base superior, preservando-se o ramo fáscio-cutâneo da artéria glútea inferior. RESULTADOS: Não houve necrose do retalho. As complicações imediatas foram três infecções, uma deiscência e um hematoma. Num período de seguimento de 6 meses a 29 meses, houve recidiva de seis úlceras (6/24 = 25,0%) em cinco pacientes (5/19 = 26,32%). Um paciente foi perdido neste seguimento. CONCLUSÃO: Conclui-se que o retalho fáscio-cutâneo posterior da coxa, em V-Y, pode ser utilizado com segurança no tratamento de lesões isoladas ou múltiplas das regiões glútea e perineal.

PURPOSE: To analyze the clinical applicability of one-stage treatment of single or multiple sores using the V-Y posterior thigh fasciocutaneous flap. METHODS: Twenty patients were treated, having 25 ulcers in the gluteal and perineal regions, being 23 pressure ulcers, 1 perianal abscess and 1 perineal trauma. In all of the patients the repair was carried out with a fasciocutaneous flap from the posterior region of the thigh. The flap was made with a superior and lateral base, preserving the fasciocutaneous branches of the inferior gluteal arteries, first and second perforating, in the treatment of ischial ulcers. In the associations of the same with sacral ulcer, a fasciocutaneous extension from the gluteal region was added to the flap for a one and only surgical procedure. A superior and medial based flap was made, preserving the fasciocutaneous branch of the inferior gluteal artery in the treatment of the trochanteric ulcers. In the associations with sacral ulcer a fasciocutaneous extension from the gluteal region was added to the posterior thigh flap which permitted the closure of all ulcers in only one surgical procedure. In the associations of trochanteric and ischial ulcers a flap with a superior base was made, preserving the fasciocutaneous branch of the inferior gluteal artery. RESULTS: There was no necrosis of the flap. The immediate complications were 3 infections, 1 dehiscences and 1 hematoma. In a follow-up period of 6 months to 29 months, with one patient being lost to follow up, there were 6 recurrences 6/24 (25.0%) in 5 patients 5/19 (26.32%). CONCLUSION: We conclude that the posterior fasciocutaneous thigh flap, in V-Y, can be used with safety in the treatment of isolated or multiple ulcers in the gluteal and perineal regions.
