Abstract An adopted animal is considered a grand gesture with significant social responsibility since it needs daily care and affection from the adopter. Far beyond appearance and aesthetic issues, the adopter must consider their natural conditions, respecting the specific characteristics of the animal. The lack of expertise in choosing the animal can lead to an irresponsible and fruitless adoption, compromising the animal’s quality of life. Animal adoption portals are prone to this problem if they do not provide controls that try to approximate the adopter’s real motivations and conditions with the animal’s characteristics. Faced with this problem, this article proposes a content-based recommendation system to suggest animals for users to consume drugs, applying the weighted cosine technique. The weighting is fundamental in calculating the similarity between the users’ emotions and the animal’s characteristics. The experiments increased the accuracy of the recommendations when weighting is applied over the traditional method without considering the prescribed method of users by specific characteristics of the animals to be adopted.

Resumo A adoção animal é considerada um gesto grandioso que carrega consigo grande responsabilidade social, visto que um animal precisa dos cuidados e carinho diário do adotante. Muito além da aparência e questões estéticas, é essencial que o adotante considere suas reais condições respeitando as características específicas do animal. A falta de perícia na escolha do animal pode acarretar uma adoção irresponsável e infrutuosa, comprometendo a qualidade de vida do animal. Portais de adoção de animais são suscetíveis a esse problema se não fornecerem mecanismos que tentem aproximar as reais preferências e condições do adotante com as características do animal. Diante dessa problemática, este artigo propõe um sistema de recomendação baseado em conteúdo que visa sugerir animais para adoção considerando as preferências dos adotantes, aplicando a técnica do cosseno ponderado. A ponderação é fundamental no cálculo de similaridade entre as preferências dos adotantes e das características do animal. Os experimentos realizados apontam um aumento de precisão das recomendações quando a ponderação é aplicada sobre o método tradicional sem considerar as preferências do adotante por determinadas características dos animais a serem adotados.

Abstract In recent decades, there have been significant advances in the diagnosis of diffuse gliomas, driven by the integration of novel technologies. These advancements have deepened our understanding of tumor oncogenesis, enabling a more refined stratification of the biological behavior of these neoplasms. This progress culminated in the fifth edition of the WHO classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors in 2021. This comprehensive review article aims to elucidate these advances within a multidisciplinary framework, contextualized within the backdrop of the new classification. This article will explore morphologic pathology and molecular/genetics techniques (immunohistochemistry, genetic sequencing, and methylation profiling), which are pivotal in diagnosis, besides the correlation of structural neuroimaging radiophenotypes to pathology and genetics. It briefly reviews the usefulness of tractography and functional neuroimaging in surgical planning. Additionally, the article addresses the value of other functional imaging techniques such as perfusion MRI, spectroscopy, and nuclear medicine in distinguishing tumor progression from treatment-related changes. Furthermore, it discusses the advantages of evolving diagnostic techniques in classifying these tumors, as well as their limitations in terms of availability and utilization. Moreover, the expanding domains of data processing, artificial intelligence, radiomics, and radiogenomics hold great promise and may soon exert a substantial influence on glioma diagnosis. These innovative technologies have the potential to revolutionize our approach to these tumors. Ultimately, this review underscores the fundamental importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in employing recent diagnostic advancements, thereby hoping to translate them into improved quality of life and extended survival for glioma patients.

Resumo Nas últimas décadas, houve avanços significativos no diagnóstico de gliomas difusos, impulsionados pela integração de novas tecnologias. Esses avanços aprofundaram nossa compreensão da oncogênese tumoral, permitindo uma estratificação mais refinada do comportamento biológico dessas neoplasias. Esse progresso culminou na quinta edição da classificação da OMS de tumores do sistema nervoso central (SNC) em 2021. Esta revisão abrangente tem como objetivo elucidar esses avanços de forma multidisciplinar, no contexto da nova classificação. Este artigo irá explorar a patologia morfológica e as técnicas moleculares/genéticas (imuno-histoquímica, sequenciamento genético e perfil de metilação), que são fundamentais no diagnóstico, além da correlação dos radiofenótipos da neuroimagem estrutural com a patologia e a genética. Aborda sucintamente a utilidade da tractografia e da neuroimagem funcional no planejamento cirúrgico. Destacaremos o valor de outras técnicas de imagem funcional, como ressonância magnética de perfusão, espectroscopia e medicina nuclear, na distinção entre a progressão do tumor e as alterações relacionadas ao tratamento. Discutiremos as vantagens das diferentes técnicas de diagnóstico na classificação desses tumores, bem como suas limitações em termos de disponibilidade e utilização. Além disso, os crescentes avanços no processamento de dados, inteligência artificial, radiômica e radiogenômica têm grande potencial e podem em breve exercer uma influência substancial no diagnóstico de gliomas. Essas tecnologias inovadoras têm o potencial de revolucionar nossa abordagem a esses tumores. Em última análise, esta revisão destaca a importância fundamental da colaboração multidisciplinar na utilização dos recentes avanços diagnósticos, com a esperança de traduzi-los em uma melhor qualidade de vida e uma maior sobrevida.

Abstract Participation in health has generated a large number of publications around the world. In order to know the specificities of this production in the Americas, a bibliometric analysis of articles in English, Spanish and Portuguese was carried out. Searches were carried out in the VHL, PubMed, SCOPUS, WOS and SciELO, consolidating a database with 641 references. With the help of the VOSviewer software, we analyzed citation patterns, co-authorship and the chronological distribution by countries and languages. It was possible to verify the growth of production, the quantitative relevance and the impact of the different countries. The analysis indicated that the USA concentrates the largest number of citations and Brazil, despite being the first in number of publications, is the third in number of citations. The same occurs with Brazilian journals that, with the largest number of articles, fall in the ranking of the most cited. The co-authorship analysis indicated that the University of Toronto, Fiocruz and Harvard University have the most formal collaborations with other organizations. We conclude that there are inequalities of impact, visibility and internationalization in this field, indicating obstacles to scientific development and health policies.

Resumen La participación en salud ha generado una gran cantidad de publicaciones alrededor del mundo. Para conocer las especificidades de esta producción en las Américas, se realizó un análisis bibliométrico de artículos en inglés, español y portugués. Se realizaron búsquedas en la BVS, Pubmed, SCOPUS, WOS y SciELO, consolidando una base de datos con 641 referencias. Con la ayuda del software VOSviewer, analizamos los patrones de citación, la coautoría y la distribución cronológica por países e idiomas. Se pudo verificar el crecimiento de la producción, la relevancia cuantitativa y el impacto de los diferentes países. El análisis indicó que EE.UU. concentra el mayor número de citas y Brasil, a pesar de ser el primero en número de publicaciones, es el tercero en número de citas. En los diez artículos más citados se descartan trabajos desarrollados en EE.UU. y Canadá. El análisis de coautoría indicó que la Universidad de Toronto, Fiocruz y la Universidad de Harvard tienen las colaboraciones más formales con otras organizaciones. Concluimos que existen desigualdades de impacto, visibilidad e internacionalización en este campo, indicando obstáculos para el desarrollo científico y las políticas de salud.

Para conhecer as especificidades dessa produção nas Américas, foi realizada uma análise bibliométrica de artigos em inglês, espanhol e português. O mesmo ocorre com os periódicos brasileiros que, com o maior número de artigos, caem no ranking dos mais citados. Nos dez artigos mais citados, descatam-se trabalhos desenvolvidos nos EUA e Canadá. A análise de coautoria indicou que a Universidade de Toronto, a Fiocruz e a Universidade de Harvard são as que mais têm colaborações formais com outras organizações. Concluímos que existem desigualdades de impacto, visibilidade e internacionalização neste campo, indicando obstáculos para o desenvolvimento científico e das políticas de saúde.

Abstract BACKGROUND: The burnout syndrome can be avoided and/or have its signs and symptoms reduced by knowing the five associated factors that help identify the health and working conditions of the professors of graduate programs. OBJECTIVE: To analyze the factors associated with burnout among faculty members of graduate stricto sensu programs. DESIGN AND SETTING: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 585 faculty members of Graduate Programs in Language Teaching and Linguistics in Brazil. METHODS: Data were collected through an online questionnaire. The outcomes were the dimensions of burnout and its related factors identified through multiple templates of logistic regression. RESULTS: Faculty members with increased chances of emotional exhaustion and depersonalization mentioned the use of medications due to labor activities. The negative influence of pace and intensity of work, thoughts about quitting the program, and having to produce three or more scientific articles were associated with higher chances of emotional exhaustion, while having to achieve nine hours per week in undergraduate programs was related to reduced personal accomplishment. Having a conjugal relationship, satisfaction with health and work, post-doctoral degree, autonomy, and good interpersonal relationships with faculty members of the program reduced the chances of emotional exhaustion. Reduced chances of depersonalization occurred among those who were satisfied with work, had good interpersonal relationships with advisees and faculty members, and received productivity funding. CONCLUSION: Sociodemographic, health, and occupational factors related to the dimensions of burnout were identified.

Abstract The southern region of the Amazon stands out for the growing agricultural development and installation of large hydroelectric projects. Given this scenario, the objective of this study was to quantify the Áreas de Preservação Permanente (APPs), Permanent Preservation Areas, of the water bodies of the Teles Pires river basin according to the current legislation, checking whether there is conflict regarding the use and occupation of these areas, and then check for the occurrence of degradation and identify the environmental fragility of the area. Using the Modified Normalized Difference Water Index (MNDWI), the water bodies located in the study area were delineated and the APPs were delimited according to Law 12,651/2012. To identify the existence of conflicts within these areas, a map of land use and occupation was generated through Maximum Likelihood supervised classification, which was compared with the limits of the APPs, considering conflict areas whose land use is related to anthropic activities. Lastly, the potential and emerging fragility of the area were calculated, considering data of the slope, soil type and land cover/land use. The delimited APP comprised 3.96% of the total area of the basin and it showed a state of low degradation, with 83.83% of the area conserved under native vegetation cover and 15.93% showing conflicting type of use, with the occupation by pastures standing out, and among the APP categories mapped the headwaters were the most impacted. The spatialization of conflicts within the basin indicated that it has a very different conservation pattern, with the most critical areas concentrated in the center-east, where municipalities that have more than 40% of the APP occupied by anthropic activities are located. The north of the basin has areas with higher potential fragility, which is attenuated by the great soil protection.

Abstract In this study, green high-density polyethylene (GHDPE) composites with 5, 10 and 15% natural powdered cork (CP) with and without 5% maleic anhydride (PE-g-MA) were developed in order to evaluate the potential of these materials for civil construction applications. The composites were produced in a co-rotating twin-screw extruder and injection molded. An impedance tube was used to determine the acoustic behavior of the composites, which were then used as ceiling tiles in prototypes of provisional constructions in order to study ascertain their performance with respect to thermal comfort in the City of Teresina, PI - Brazil. Our data indicates that composites sound absorption coefficient values are good between 500 and 1200 Hz, especially for those with a higher percentage of cork, with the lowest absorption rate observed for composites containing PE-g-MA. The composites used in the prototypes provided a decrease in the internal temperature of the built structure.

Abstract Background Cardiovascular complications of COVID-19 are important aspects of the disease’s pathogenesis and prognosis. Evidence on the prognostic role of troponin and myocardial injury in Latin American hospitalized COVID-19 patients is still scarce. Objectives To evaluate myocardial injury as independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized patients, from the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry. Methods This cohort study is a substudy of the Brazilian COVID-19 Registry, conducted in 31 Brazilian hospitals of 17 cities, March-September 2020. Primary outcomes included in-hospital mortality and invasive mechanical ventilation support. Models for the primary outcomes were estimated by Poisson regression with robust variance, with statistical significance of p<0.05. Results Of 2,925 patients (median age of 60 years [48-71], 57.1% men), 27.3% presented myocardial injury. The proportion of patients with comorbidities was higher among patients with cardiac injury (median 2 [1-2] vs. 1 [0-2]). Patients with myocardial injury had higher median levels of brain natriuretic peptide, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine phosphokinase, N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide, and C-reactive protein than patients without myocardial injury. As independent predictors, C-reactive protein and platelet counts were related to the risk of death, and neutrophils and platelet counts were related to the risk of invasive mechanical ventilation support. Patients with high troponin levels presented a higher risk of death (RR 2.03, 95% CI 1.60-2.58) and invasive mechanical ventilation support (RR 1.87, 95% CI 1.57-2.23), when compared to those with normal troponin levels. Conclusion Cardiac injury was an independent predictor of in-hospital mortality and the need for invasive mechanical ventilation support in hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

Resumo Fundamento As complicações cardiovasculares da COVID-19 são aspectos importantes da patogênese e do prognóstico da doença. Evidências do papel prognóstico da troponina e da lesão miocárdica em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19 na América Latina são ainda escassos. Objetivos Avaliar a lesão miocárdica como preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados, do registro brasileiro de COVID-19. Métodos Este estudo coorte é um subestudo do registro brasileiro de COVID-19, conduzido em 31 hospitais brasileiros de 17 cidades, de março a setembro de 2020. Os desfechos primários incluíram mortalidade hospitalar e suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os modelos para os desfechos primários foram estimados por regressão de Poisson com variância robusta, com significância estatística de p<0,05. Resultados Dos 2925 pacientes [idade mediana de 60 anos (48-71), 57,1%], 27,3% apresentaram lesão miocárdica. A proporção de pacientes com comorbidades foi maior nos pacientes com lesão miocárdica [mediana 2 (1-2) vs. 1 (0-20)]. Os pacientes com lesão miocárdica apresentaram maiores valores medianos de peptídeo natriurético cerebral, lactato desidrogenase, creatina fosfoquinase, N-terminal do pró-peptídeo natriurético tipo B e proteína C reativa em comparação a pacientes sem lesão miocárdica. Como fatores independentes, proteína C reativa e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados com o risco de morte, e neutrófilos e contagem de plaquetas foram relacionados ao risco de suporte ventilatório mecânico invasivo. Os pacientes com níveis elevados de troponina apresentaram um maior risco de morte (RR 2,03, IC95% 1,60-2,58) e suporte ventilatório mecânico (RR 1,87;IC95% 1,57-2,23), em comparação àqueles com níveis de troponina normais. Conclusão Lesão cardíaca foi um preditor independente de mortalidade hospitalar e necessidade de suporte ventilatório mecânico em pacientes hospitalizados com COVID-19.

Abstract Background Despite no evidence showing benefits of hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine with or without azithromycin for COVID-19 treatment, these medications have been largely prescribed in Brazil. Objectives To assess outcomes, including in-hospital mortality, electrocardiographic abnormalities, hospital length-of-stay, admission to the intensive care unit, and need for dialysis and mechanical ventilation, in hospitalized COVID-19 patients who received chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine, and to compare outcomes between those patients and their matched controls. Methods A retrospective multicenter cohort study that included consecutive laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 patients from 37 Brazilian hospitals from March to September 2020. Propensity score was used to select matching controls by age, sex, cardiovascular comorbidities, and in-hospital use of corticosteroid. A p-value <0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results From 7,850 COVID-19 patients, 673 (8.6%) received hydroxychloroquine and 67 (0.9%) chloroquine. The median age in the study group was 60 years (46 - 71) and 59.1% were women. During hospitalization, 3.2% of patients presented side effects and 2.2% required therapy discontinuation. Electrocardiographic abnormalities were more prevalent in the chloroquine/hydroxychloroquine group (13.2% vs. 8.2%, p=0.01), and the long corrected QT interval was the main difference (3.6% vs. 0.4%, p<0.001). The median hospital length of stay was longer in the HCQ/CQ + AZT group than in controls (9.0 [5.0, 18.0] vs. 8.0 [4.0, 14.0] days). There was no statistical differences between groups in intensive care unit admission (35.1% vs. 32.0%; p=0.282), invasive mechanical ventilation support (27.0% vs. 22.3%; p=0.074) or mortality (18.9% vs. 18.0%; p=0.682). Conclusion COVID-19 patients treated with chloroquine or hydroxychloroquine had a longer hospital length of stay, when compared to matched controls. Intensive care unit admission, invasive mechanical ventilation, dialysis and in-hospital mortality were similar.

Resumo Fundamento Apesar da ausência de evidência mostrando benefícios da hidroxicloroquina e da cloroquina combinadas ou não à azitromicina no tratamento da covid-19, esses medicamentos têm sido amplamente prescritos no Brasil. Objetivos Avaliar desfechos, incluindo moralidade hospitalar, alterações eletrocardiográficas, tempo de internação, admissão na unidade de terapia intensiva, e necessidade de diálise e de ventilação mecânica em pacientes hospitalizados com covid-19 que receberam cloroquina ou hidroxicloroquina, e comparar os desfechos entre aqueles pacientes e seus controles pareados. Métodos Estudo multicêntrico retrospectivo do tipo coorte que incluiu pacientes com diagnóstico laboratorial de covid-19 de 37 hospitais no Brasil de março a setembro de 2020. Escore de propensão foi usado para selecionar controles pareados quanto a idade, sexo, comorbidades cardiovasculares, e uso de corticosteroides durante a internação. Um valor de p<0,05 foi considerado estatisticamente significativo. Resultados Dos 7850 pacientes com covid-19, 673 (8,6%) receberam hidroxicloroquina e 67 (0,9%) cloroquina. A idade mediana no grupo de estudo foi 60 (46-71) anos e 59,1% eram mulheres. Durante a internação, 3,2% dos pacientes apresentaram efeitos adversos e 2,2% necessitaram de interromper o tratamento. Alterações eletrocardiográficas foram mais prevalentes no grupo hidroxicloroquina/cloroquina (13,2% vs. 8,2%, p=0,01), e o prolongamento do intervalo QT corrigido foi a principal diferença (3,6% vs. 0,4%, p<0,001). O tempo mediano de internação hospitalar foi maior no grupo usando CQ/HCQ em relação aos controles (9,0 [5,0-18,0] vs. 8,0 [4,0-14,0] dias). Não houve diferenças estatisticamente significativas entre os grupos quanto a admissão na unidade de terapia intensiva (35,1% vs. 32,0%; p=0,282), ventilação mecânica invasiva (27,0% vs. 22,3%; p=0,074) ou mortalidade (18,9% vs. 18,0%; p=0,682). Conclusão Pacientes com covid-19 tratados com cloroquina ou hidroxicloroquina apresentaram maior tempo de internação hospitalar, em comparação aos controles. Não houve diferença em relação a admissão em unidade de terapia intensiva, necessidade de ventilação mecânica e mortalidade hospitalar.

Resumo: Com o acelerado crescimento da urbanização e consequente aumento do número de edificações, houve acréscimo de projetos e construções céleres, sem critérios mínimos que possibilitem o bom desempenho do edifício e como se comporta durante episódios de incêndios. Nesse cenário, este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar tendências em pesquisa e o status quo de desempenho do fogo de edificações nos últimos cinco anos, avaliando perspectivas para pesquisa na área e propostas de direcionamento futuro, por meio de uma abordagem de Revisão Sistemática da Literatura (RSL) associada a uma análise bibliométrica. A análise foi realizada com base no banco de dados Web of Science, sob parâmetros como: autores, países e regiões, periódicos, áreas de pesquisa e palavras-chave. Para cada critério, dentre todos os resultados recuperados, avaliaram-se aqueles que mais se destacaram no período estipulado. Verificou-se que pesquisas voltadas ao desempenho no fogo em projetos são crescentes, apresentando um total de 402 trabalhos publicados. Na análise por Revisão Sistemática da Literatura, verificou-se uma tendência de pesquisa em relação aos materiais e sistemas estruturais, avaliando desempenho, comportamento, resistência e segurança das edificações em condição de incêndio. Além disso, os resultados apontaram uma possibilidade de evolução da tendência em pesquisa de metodologias e sistemas inteligentes de controle aplicados ao gerenciamento de emergências de incêndio.

Abstract: Accelerated growth of urbanizaton and the consequent rise in the number of buildings results on an increase in rapid constructons without minimum criteria that enable the safe building performance and how it behaves during episodes of fre. In this scenario, this paper aims to analyze research trends and the status quo of building fire performance in the last five years, evaluating perspectives for research, and proposals for future directons through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach associated with bibliometric analysis. The analysis was carried out based on the Web of Science database under parameters such as authors, countries and regions, journals, research areas, and keywords. For each rule, among all the results retrieved, those that stood out the most in the stipulated period were evaluated. It was found that research on fire performance in projects is increasing, with a total of 402 published works. In the analysis by Systematic Literature Review, there was a trend of research concerning materials and structural systems, evaluating the performance, behavior, resistance, and safety of buildings under fire conditons. Ultimately, the results pointed out a possible evoluton of the trend in research on methodologies and intelligent control systems applied to the management of fire emergencies.

Resumen: Con el acelerado crecimiento de la urbanización y el consecuente incremento en el número de edificaciones, hubo un incremento de proyectos y construcciones rápidas, sin criterios mínimos que permitan el buen desempeño del edifício y cómo se comporta durante los episodios de incendio. En este escenario, este trabajo tene como objetivo analizar las tendencias en la investigación y el status quo del comportamiento frente al fuego en los edificios en los últimos cinco años, evaluando perspectivas de investigación en el área y propuestas para el rumbo futuro, a través de un enfoque de Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura (RSL) asociado con un análisis bibliométrico. El análisis se realizó utilizando la base de datos Web of Science bajo parámetros como: autores, países y regiones, revistas, áreas de investigación y palabras clave. Para cada criterio, entre todos los resultados recuperados, se evaluaron los que más destacaron en el período estipulado. Se constató que la investigación sobre el comportamiento frente al fuego en proyectos está creciendo, con un total de 402 trabajos publicados. En el análisis de Revisión Sistemática de la Literatura, hubo una tendencia de investigación en relación a los materiales y sistemas estructurales, evaluando el desempeño, comportamiento, resistencia y seguridad de los edificios en condiciones de incendio. Además, los resultados apuntan a una posibilidad de evolución de la tendencia en la investigación sobre metodologías y sistemas de control inteligente aplicados a la gestón de emergencias contra incendios.

Abstract Introduction: The increase in the prevalence of aortic stenosis due to an aging population has led to an increasing number of surgical aortic valve replacements. Over the past 20 years, there has been a major shift in preference from mechanical to bioprosthetic valves. However, despite efforts, there is still no "ideal" bioprosthesis. It is crucial to understand the structure, biology, and function of native heart valves to design more intelligent, strong, durable, and physiological heart valve tissues. Methods: A comprehensive review of the literature was performed to identify articles reporting the basic mechanisms of bioprosthetic valve dysfunction and the biology of native valve cells. Searches were run in PubMed, MEDLINE® (the Medical Literature Analysis and Retrieval System Online), and Google Scholar. Terms for subject heading and keywords search included “biological heart valve dysfunction”, “bioprosthesis dysfunction”, “bioprosthesis degeneration”, and “tissue heart valves”. Results: All the relevant findings are summarized in the appropriate subsections. Structural dysfunction is a logical and expected consequence of the chemical, mechanical, and immunological processes that occur during fixation, manufacture, and implantation. Conclusion: Biological prosthesis valve dysfunction is a clinically significant process. It has become a major issue considering the growing rate of bioprosthesis implantation and improved long-term patient survival. Understanding bioprosthetic aortic valve degeneration from a basic science perspective is a key point to improve technologic advances and specifications that lead to a new generation of bioprostheses.

Resumo Objetivo Avaliar o grau de correlação/concordância dos parâmetros Doppler materno-fetal entre fetos normais e com restrição do crescimento (restrição de crescimento fetal [RCF]). Métodos O presente estudo observacional e retrospectivo incluiu 274 gestações únicas. Os seguintes parâmetros Doppler materno-fetal foram avaliados: artéria uterina (AUt), artéria umbilical (AU), artéria cerebral média (ACM), razão cérebroplacentária (RCP) e razão umbilical-cerebral (U/C). A avaliação da RCF baseou-se nos critérios de Figueiras e Gratacós.9 Os coeficientes de correlação de Spearman foram estimados para avaliar a correlação entre os índices de resistência (IR) e pulsatilidade (IP) dos parâmetros Doppler. A concordância entre dois parâmetros do Doppler foi avaliada pelo coeficiente Kappa. Resultados No total, 502 exames Doppler foram incluídos e RCF foi observado em 19 de 274 fetos. Observou-se forte correlação entre IR e IP da AUt, AU e ACM em todas as amostras (p<0,001). Dos 502 exames Doppler, houve concordância entre os percentis U/C e RCP para 480 (95,6%) e discordância para 22 (4,4%), com coeficiente Kappa de 0,26, correspondendo a concordância fraca. Dos 68 casos com peso fetal estimado≤9° (pequeno para a idade gestacional [PIG]), houve concordância entre U/C>1,0 e RCp<5o percentil em 61 (88,4%) e discordância em 7 (5,8%) com coeficiente Kappa de 0,49, correspondendo a concordância moderada. Conclusão Forte correlação foi observada entre o IR e IP dos exames Doppler AUt, AU e ACM no presente estudo; entretanto, fraca concordância foi observada entre U/C e RCP em fetos normais e com RCF. Nos PIG, U/C e RCP demonstraram concordânciamoderada.

Abstract Objective To assess the degree of correlation/agreement of maternal-fetal Doppler parameters between normal and growth-restricted fetuses (fetal growth restriction [FGR]). Methods The present observational and retrospective study included 274 singleton pregnancies. The following maternal-fetal Doppler parameters were assessed: uterine artery (UAt), umbilical artery (UA), middle cerebral artery (MCA), cerebroplacental ratio (CPR), and umbilical-cerebral ratio (U/C). The assessment of FGR was based on the Figueiras and Gratacós9 criteria. Spearman correlation coefficients were estimated to assess the correlation between resistance (RI) and pulsatility (PI) indices of Doppler parameters. The agreement between two Doppler parameters was assessed by the Kappa coefficient. Results In total, 502 Doppler examinations were included, and FGR was observed in 19 out of 274 fetuses. A strong correlation was observed between RI and PI of UAt, UA, and MCA in all of the samples (p<0.001). Of the 502 Doppler examinations, there was agreement between U/C and CPR percentiles for 480 (95.6%) and disagreement for 22 (4.4%), with Kappa coefficient of 0.26, thereby corresponding to weak agreement. Of the 68 cases with estimated fetal weight ≤ 9th percentile (small for gestational age [SGA]), there was agreement between U/C>1.0 and CPR<5th percentile in 61 (88.4%) and disagreement in 7 (5.8%) with Kappa coefficient of 0.49, thereby corresponding to moderate agreement. Conclusion Strong correlation was observed among RI and PI UAt, UA, and MCA Doppler examinations in the present study; however, weak agreement was observed between U/C and CPR in the normal and FGR fetuses. In SGA, U/C and CPR demonstrated moderate agreement.

RESUMO: O girassol produz aquênios e óleo de qualidade, além de servir para produção de silagem, forragem e biodiesel. A modelagem de crescimento permite conhecer o padrão de crescimento da cultura e otimizar o manejo. O objetivo deste trabalho foi caracterizar o crescimento da cultivar de girassol Rhino por meio dos modelos Logístico e Gompertz e fazer considerações a respeito do manejo com base em pontos críticos. Os dados utilizados são oriundos de três ensaios de uniformidade com a cultivar de girassol confeiteiro Rhino, conduzidos na área experimental da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, Campus Frederico Westphalen, na safra 2019/2020. Foram realizadas 14, 12 e 10 avaliações semanais de altura em 10 plantas, respectivamente, no primeiro, segundo e terceiro ensaio. Os dados foram ajustados em função da soma térmica acumulada. Os parâmetros foram estimados por meio do método dos mínimos quadrados ordinários, usando o algoritmo de Gauss-Newton. A qualidade de ajuste dos modelos aos dados foi medida pelo coeficiente de determinação ajustado, critério de determinação de Akaike, critério bayesiano de informação, e por meio da não linearidade intrínseca e paramétrica. Foram determinados os pontos de inflexão (IP), máxima aceleração (MAP), máxima desaceleração (MDP) e desaceleração assintótica (ADP). As análises estatísticas foram realizadas com Microsoft Office Excel® e o software R. Os modelos descreveram de forma satisfatória a curva de crescimento da altura do girassol, fornecendo parâmetros com interpretações práticas. O modelo Logístico apresenta melhor qualidade de ajuste, sendo o mais adequado para caracterização da curva de crescimento. Os pontos críticos estimados fornecem informações importantes para o manejo da cultura. As plantas daninhas devem ser controladas até o MAP. As aplicações de fertilizantes em cobertura devem ser realizadas entre MAP e IP. O ADP é um indicador de maturidade, após atingir este ponto, as plantas podem ser colhidas para a produção de silagem sem perda de volume e qualidade.

ABSTRACT: Sunflower produces achenes and oil of good quality, besides serving for production of silage, forage and biodiesel. Growth modeling allows knowing the growth pattern of the crop and optimizing the management. The research characterized the growth of the Rhino sunflower cultivar using the Logistic and Gompertz models and to make considerations regarding management based on critical points. The data used come from three uniformity trials with the Rhino confectionery sunflower cultivar carried out in the experimental area of the Federal University of Santa Maria - Campus Frederico Westphalen in the 2019/2020 agricultural harvest. In the first, second and third trials 14, 12 and 10 weekly height evaluations were performed on 10 plants, respectively. The data were adjusted for the thermal time accumulated. The parameters were estimated by ordinary least square’s method using the Gauss-Newton algorithm. The fitting quality of the models to the data was measured by the adjusted coefficient of determination, Akaike information criterion, Bayesian information criterion, and through intrinsic and parametric nonlinearity. The inflection points (IP), maximum acceleration (MAP), maximum deceleration (MDP) and asymptotic deceleration (ADP) were determined. Statistical analyses were performed with Microsoft Office Excel® and R software. The models satisfactorily described the height growth curve of sunflower, providing parameters with practical interpretations. The Logistics model has the best fitting quality, being the most suitable for characterizing the growth curve. The estimated critical points provide important information for crop management. Weeds must be controlled until the MAP. Covered fertilizer applications must be carried out between the MAP and IP range. ADP is an indicator of maturity, after reaching this point, the plants can be harvested for the production of silage without loss of volume and quality.

RESUMO Objetivos: construir e validar uma cartilha educativa para promoção do envolvimento de pais no parto e nascimento. Métodos: estudo metodológico desenvolvido em cinco etapas: diagnóstico situacional; levantamento bibliográfico; construção das ilustrações, layout, design e textos; validação de conteúdo e aparência por juízes (25 especialistas) e cálculo do índice de Legibilidade de Flesch; e validação com o público-alvo (12 pais). Considerou-se Índice de Validade de Conteúdo mínimo de 0,80. Resultados: a cartilha intitulou-se “Presença de pai” e foi desenvolvida em 11 tópicos. Na validação de conteúdo e aparência, o Índice de Validade obteve escore global de 0,97. O alfa de Cronbach foi 0,92, indicando excelente confiabilidade de seu conteúdo. Pontuação global para legibilidade foi 74%, denotando fácil compreensão. Conclusões: o material teve êxito no processo de validação, podendo ser recomendado para os pais utilizarem-no durante o período pré-natal, promovendo a inclusão do parceiro e preparando-os para o parto e nascimento.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to build and validate an educational booklet to promote the involvement of parents in labor and birth. Methods: methodological study developed in five stages: situational diagnosis; bibliographic survey; construction of illustrations, layout, design and texts; content and appearance validation by judges (25 experts) and calculation of the Flesch Readability Index; and validation with the target audience (12 parents). A minimum Content Validity Index of 0.80 was considered. Results: the booklet was entitled “Father Presence” and was developed in 11 topics. In Content and Appearance Validation, the Validity Index obtained an overall score of 0.97. Cronbach’s alpha was 0.92, indicating excellent reliability of its content. A global score of 74% for readability was obtained, considered easy to understand. Conclusions: the material was successful in the validation process, and it can be recommended for parents to use it during the prenatal period, promoting the inclusion of the partner and preparing them for labor and birth.

RESUMEN Objetivos: construir y validar cartilla educativa para promoción del involucramiento de padres en el parto y nacimiento. Métodos: estudio metodológico desarrollado en cinco etapas: diagnóstico situacional; levantamiento bibliográfico; construcción de ilustraciones, esbozo, diseño y textos; validez de contenido y apariencia por jueces (25 especialistas) y cálculo del índice de Legibilidad de Flesch; y validación con el público objeto (12 padres). Considerado Índice de Validez de Contenido mínimo de 0,80. Resultados: la cartilla intitulada “Presencia de padre” y fue desarrollada en 11 tópicos. En la validez de contenido y apariencia, el Índice de Validez obtuvo escore global de 0,97. El alfa de Cronbach fue 0,92, indicando excelente confiabilidad de su contenido. Puntuación global para legibilidad fue 74%, denotando fácil comprensión. Conclusiones: el material tuvo éxito en el proceso de validación, pudiendo ser recomendado a padres utilizarlo durante el período prenatal, promoviendo la inclusión del compañero y preparándolos al parto y nacimiento.

Abstract Objective To evaluate the frequencies of iNKT cells and their subsets in patients with deep endometriosis. Methods A case-control study was conducted between 2013 and 2015, with 73 patients distributed into two groups: 47 women with a histological diagnosis of endometriosis and 26 controls. Peripheral blood, endometriosis lesions, and healthy peritoneal samples were collected on the day of surgery to determine the frequencies of iNKT cells and subtypes via flow cytometry analysis. Results The authors observed a lower number of iNKT (p= 0.01) and Double-Negative (DN) iNKT cells (p= 0.02) in the blood of patients with endometriosis than in the control group. The number of DN iNKT IL-17+ cells in the secretory phase was lower in the endometriosis group (p= 0.049). There was an increase in the secretion of IL-17 by CD4+ iNKT cells in the blood of patients with endometriosis and severe dysmenorrhea (p= 0.038), and severe acyclic pelvic pain (p= 0.048). Patients with severe dysmenorrhea also had a decreased number of CD4+ CCR7+ cells (p= 0.022). Conclusion The decreased number of total iNKT and DN iNKT cells in patients with endometriosis suggests that iNKT cells play a role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis and can be used to develop new diagnostic and therapeutic agents.
