ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To assess the perceptions of pregnant women about COVID-19 and the prevalence of common mental disorders during the implemented social distancing period. METHODS This was an observational, cross-sectional study using digital media, of pregnant women exposed to social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic, in Fortaleza, Ceará, Northeastern Brazil. Common mental disorders were estimated using the modified Self-Report Questionnaire-20 (SRQ-20) scale, and the feelings towards COVID-19 were assessed using the Fear of COVID-19 scale through telephone calls made in May 2020. COX multivariate regression models were used to verify the associations. RESULTS Of the 1,041 pregnant women, 45.7% (95%CI: 42.7–48.8) had common mental disorders (CMD). All items of the Fear of COVID-19 Scale showed a significant association with the prevalence of CMD (p < 0.001). A CMD risk gradient was observed, going from a prevalence ratio of 1.52 (95%CI: 1.13–2.04) in pregnant women with two positive items to 2.70 (95%CI: 2.08–3.51) for those with four positive items. Early gestational age and the lack of prenatal care were also associated with CMD. CONCLUSIONS The prevalence of common mental disorders in pregnant women was high during the period of social distancing and was aggravated by negative feelings towards COVID-19.

Abstract Introduction: Human cytomegalovirus is a major cause of morbidity in kidney transplant patients. Objectives: We aimed to study viral replication and serological response in the first months post kidney transplant in patients undergoing universal prophylaxis or preemptive therapy and correlate the findings with the clinical course of Human cytomegalovirus infection. Patients and methods: Independent from the clinical strategy adopted for managing Human cytomegalovirus infection, prophylaxis versus preemptive therapy, the pp65 antigenemia assay and serological response were assessed on the day of transplantation, and then weekly during the first three months of post-transplant. Results: From the 32 transplant recipients, 16 were positive for pp65 antigenemia, with a similar incidence rate in each group. There were no positive results in the first three weeks of monitoring; the positivity rate peaked at week eight. There was a trend for a higher and earlier frequency of positivity in the universal prophylaxis group in which the course of the Human cytomegalovirus infection was also more severe. Despite the differences in clinical picture and in the initial immunosuppressant schedule, the serological response was similar in both groups. Conclusion: Routine monitoring during the first three post-transplant months has a positive impact on the early detection of Human cytomegalovirus viral replication allowing for timely treatment in order to reduce morbidity of the disease. The strategy of universal therapy employing intravenous ganciclovir was associated to a worse clinical course of the Human cytomegalovirus infection suggesting that the use of >10 cells/2 × 105 leukocytes as a cut-off in this setting may be inappropriate.

Resumo Introdução O aumento da temperatura do adesivo tem sido pesquisado como forma de melhorar a evaporação do solvente, reduzir a viscosidade e melhorar a permeação dos monômeros na dentina. Objetivo Investigar a influência de diferentes métodos de aquecimento na resistência de união à dentina sob um ensaio de microtração de um adesivo de condicionamento ácido total. Material e método Vinte e quatro terceiros molares hígidos foram seccionados transversalmente a fim de expor a superfície plana da dentina. As amostras foram condicionadas ácido fosfórico a 37% e dividido em três grupos (n=8). São eles: 1) Controle - onde o adesivo (Adper Single Bond 2, 3M ESPE) foi aplicado em temperatura normal (25°C); 2) Dispositivo de aquecimento – O adesivo foi aquecido em um dispositivo específico até alcançar a temperatura de 37°C e só então aplicado à dentina; 3) Ar quente – Usou-se jato de ar aquecido a 50°C por 10 segundos a uma distância de 10cm para facilitar a evaporação do solvente. Os espécimes foram restaurados com resina composta (Filtek Z250 A2, 3M ESPE) e preparados para o ensaio de microtração, após 24h de armazenamento em água destilada. Os dados obtidos foram submetidos para análise de variância (ANOVA) e teste de Tukey (p<0,05). Resultado Não houve diferença significativa entre os grupos (p>0,05). As médias da resistência de união para o grupo controle, dispositivo de aquecimento e ar quente foram, respectivamente, 48,5 (± 5,2), 40,35 (± 4,9), e 47,2 (± 5,3). Conclusão Os diferentes métodos de aquecimento não influenciaram significativamente na resistência de união imediata à dentina de um Sistema adesivo de condicionamento ácido total.

Abstract Introduction Increased adhesive temperature has been reported to promote solvent evaporation, reduce viscosity, and improve monomeric permeation into dentin. Objective The aim of this study was to determine the influence of different heating methods on the microtensile bond strength of an etch-and-rinse adhesive to dentin. Material and method Twenty-four caries-free extracted human third molars were transversally sectioned to expose a flat dentinal surface. The samples were etched with 37% phosphoric acid gel and divided into three groups (n = 8): 1) Control - the adhesive system (Adper Single Bond 2; 3M ESPE) was applied at room temperature; 2) Warming device - the adhesive was warmed to 37°C in a custom device before application; and 3) Warm air - the adhesive was warmed to 50°C with an air jet after application on dentin. The specimens were restored with a composite resin (Filtek Z250 A2, 3M ESPE) and prepared for microtensile bond strength testing, after 24 h in water storage. The data were subjected to one-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (p < 0.05). Result There was no significant difference among the groups (p > 0.05). The mean bond strength values in the control, the warming device, and the warm air groups were 48.5 (± 5.2), 40.35 (± 4.9), and 47.2 (± 5.3) MPa, respectively (p = 0.05). Conclusion The different heating methods had no significant influence on the immediate microtensile bond strength of an etch-and-rinse ethanol-based adhesive to dentin.

This paper deals with two species of Scoposcartula Young, 1977 that are very similar to each other externally (form and color pattern): S. frontaliana (Metcalf, 1955) comb. nov. (from the state of Bahia, NE. Brazil) and S. talitae Leal, Mejdalani & Cavichioli, 2005 (from the state of Espírito Santo, SE. Brazil). The former species, previously positioned in Amblyscarta Stål, 1869, is redescribed and a male specimen is selected as the lectotype. The previously unknown female of the latter species is described for the first time. Scoposcartula frontaliana can be distinguished from S. talitae by features of the male and female genitalia. The most remarkable difference is in the male pygofer, which has a conspicuously concave posterior margin in S. frontaliana, whereas it is convex in S. talitae. The posterior margin of the female sternite VII is convex in S. frontaliana, whereas in S. talitae it has a pair of shallow concavities and a median dentiform projection.

Fingeriana reflexa sp. nov. is described and illustrated based on specimens collected in Camacan (Bahia) and Santa Teresa (Espírito Santo), Brazil. The new species can be distinguished from F. dubia Cavichioli, 2003 by the aedeagus narrowed towards the apex, with an apical pair of small triangular projections, and with a basal process laterally flattened and bent anteriorly on the apical portion. Notes comparing Fingeriana Cavichioli, 2003 to the similar Nielsonia Young, 1977 are provided.
