Resumo Este estudo investigou o efeito de 10 semanas de treinamento de força na resposta eletromiográfica (EMG) do vasto medial, vasto lateral e reto femoral. 23 voluntárias executaram 3 a 5 séries de 6 repetições, intensidade de 50% de 1 repetição máxima (RM), 3 minutos de pausa entre as séries e duração da repetição de 6 s no exercício extensor de joelhos. Um grupo (5:1) realizou a duração da ação concêntrica em 5 s e excêntrica em 1s e outro grupo (3:3) realizou a concêntrica em 3s e a excêntrica em 3s. A atividades EMG (RMS) destas três porções do quadríceps foram registradas em cada repetição das 3 séries da primeira sessão de treinamento e nas três primeiras séries da última sessão. Os resultados mostraram diferenças na metade final das séries, sendo que no grupo 5:1 houve redução na EMG em todas as porções e o VL e o RF mostraram redução em um número maior de repetições. No grupo 3:3 o VM e o RF apresentaram redução. Para as relações de ativação entre as porções, diferenças foram identificadas apenas no grupo 3:3 nas relações VM/VL e VM/RF em um número reduzido de repetições. Estes resultados apontam que a coordenação entre as porções sofreu poucas alterações quando comparadas as repetições equivalentes de cada série. Sugere-se que os reduzidos graus de liberdade do movimento utilizado e a progressão da carga de treinamento tenham sido os fatores que conduziram a este resultado

Abstract This study investigate the effect of 10-week strenght training on the amplitude of the electromyographic (EMG) signal of vastus medialis, vastus lateralis and rectus Femoris. Twenty three untrained volunteers performed 3-5 sets (3 sets - weeks 1 and 2; 4 series - weeks 3 and 4; 5 series weeks 5 to 10) with 6 repetitions, intensity of 50% of 1 repetition maximum (1RM), 3 min rest between sets and 6 s repetition duration at the knee extensor exercise. One group (5:1) performed concentric action of 5 s and eccentric of 1 s and the other (3:3) performed concentric of 3 s and eccentric of 3 s. The VM, VL and RF EMG (RMS) activities were recorded in each repetition of the three series at the first training session and the first three series at the last session. The protocol 5:1 led to EMG reduction in all portions, with a greater number of repetitions presenting differences at the VL and RF. VM and RF presented similar results at Group 3:3. It was verified that all the differences occurred in the second half of the series. It was also verified differences in EMG ratios just in group 3:3 and only in VM/VL and VM/RF. These results suggest that the coordination was not affected when equivalent repetitions of series were compared. It was also suggested that these results were influenced by the reduced degrees of freedom of the exercise and the training load progression adopted.

A incorporação de materiais vegetais específicos associados à solarização do solo tem sido um avanço promissor no controle de fungos fitopatogênicos habitantes do solo. O objetivo do trabalho foi avaliar determinados efeitos da incorporação e decomposição de brócolis, mamona, mandioca brava e mansa, no solo, em condições de microcosmo mantido em BOD (37±2ºC), sobre o micélio de Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici Raça 2, Macrophomina phaseolina, Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 HGI e de Sclerotium rolfsii. Assim, quatro ensaios idênticos foram instalados em conjunto de microcosmos, com cinco tratamentos e quatro períodos de tempo diferentes e independentes (7, 14, 21 e 28 dias). O parâmetro avaliado foi os efeitos inócuo, fungistático e fungicida dos tratamentos sobre o micélio dos fungos. Verificou-se efeito fungistático e fungicida no crescimento micelial de F. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici Raça 2, R. solani AG-4 HGI e de S. rolfsii. Os fungos que apresentaram efeito fungistático apresentaram uma velocidade média de crescimento micelial inferior ao controle geral, que consistiu na incubação dos fungos em temperatura de 25±2ºC. O efeito fungicida ocorreu aos 21 dias de incubação para F. oxysporum e R. solani e aos 28 dias para S. rolfsii. Para M. phaseolina, observou-se apenas efeito inócuo. Associação da temperatura de 37±2ºC mais o período de tempo dos tratamentos foi o fator responsável pelos efeitos fungistático e fungicida no micélio dos fitopatógenos estudados. Essa associação também interferiu na velocidade do crescimento micelial dos fungos que apresentaram efeito fungistático.

The incorporation of plant materials associated with soil solarization has been a promising progress to control soilborne phytopathogenic fungi. The aim of this study was to evaluate certain effects of incorporation and decomposition of broccolis, castor bean, wild and sweet cassava, in the soil, under microcosm conditions maintained in BOD (37±2ºC), on the mycelium of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici race 2, Macrophomina phaseolina, Rhizoctonia solani AG-4 HGI and Sclerotium rolfsii. Thus, four identical experiments were established with five treatments of four different and independent periods (7, 14, 21 and 28 days). The assessed parameter was the innocuous, fungistatic and fungicide effects of the treatments on the mycelium of fungi. Fungistatic and fungicide effect was verified for the mycelium of F. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici race 2, R. solani AG-4 HGI and S. rolfsii. Fungi with fungistatic effect presented lower velocity of mycelial growth compared to the general control, which consisted of incubation of the fungi at a temperature of 25±2ºC. Fungicide effect occurred at 21 days of incubation for F. oxysporum and R. solani and at 28 days for S. rolfsii. Only innocuous effect was observed for M. phaseolina. The factor that caused fungistatic and fungicide effect on the mycelium of fungi was the association of the temperature of 37±2ºC with the period of the treatments. That association also interfered in the mycelial growth velocity of the fungi that showed fungistatic effect.

No Brasil, normalmente os modelos digitais de elevação (MDEs) são produzidos pelos próprios usuários e pouca atenção tem sido dada às suas limitações, como fonte de informação espacial. Este estudo propôs avaliar diferentes MDEs para subsidiar a escolha do modelo apropriado para derivar atributos topográficos utilizados em um mapeamento digital de solos, por redes neurais artificiais. A avaliação constou da determinação da raiz quadrada do erro médio quadrático da elevação (RMSE); análise das depressões espúrias; comparação entre drenagem mapeada e drenagem numérica, curvas de nível derivadas e curvas de nível originais, e análise das bacias de contribuição derivadas. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que apenas o RMSE não foi suficiente para avaliar a qualidade desses modelos. O MDE, derivado de curvas de nível (CARTA, obtido com a utilização do módulo TOPOGRID) apresentou qualidade superior aos MDEs derivados de sensores remotos (ASTER e SRTM). A análise qualitativa também identificou que o MDE CARTA é superior aos demais, pois estes apresentaram grande quantidade de erros que podem comprometer o estabelecimento das relações entre atributos do terreno e as condições locais de solos.

In Brazil, the digital elevation models (DEMs) are usually produced by users themselves and little attention has been given to their limitations as source of spatial information. The objective of this study was to evaluate different DEMs to help in choosing an appropriate model to derive topographical attributes used in a digital soil mapping based on a neural networks approach. The evaluation consisted of the following analysis: determination of root mean square error (RMSE) of elevation; analysis of the spurious depressions; comparison between mapped drainage and numeric drainage and between derived contour lines and original contour lines; and analysis of the derived contribution basins. The results demonstrated that RMSE was not enough to evaluate the quality of these models. DEMs derived from contour lines (CARTA, obtained using the TOPOGRID module) presented better quality than those derived from remote sensors (ASTER and SRTM). These presented great amount of errors that can negatively affect the establishment of relationships between topographical attributes and local conditions of soils.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a eficiência dos classificadores redes neurais artificiais (RNA) e o de máxima verossimilhança (Maxver) na classificação do uso da terra no município de Viçosa, MG, a partir de imagens do sensor ASTER, com ênfase nos níveis de degradação das pastagens. Neste estudo, foram identificados três níveis de degradação das pastagens (moderado, forte e muito forte) e avaliada uma composição da imagem do sensor ASTER contendo as 3 bandas do visível e infravermelho próximo, com resolução espacial de 15 m. O simulador de redes neurais empregado foi o "Java Neural Network Simulator" e o algoritmo de aprendizado, o backpropagation. Os resultados mostram que a classificação por redes neurais, embora apresente resultado ligeiramente superior, teve desempenho estatisticamente semelhante ao obtido pela classificação pelo Maxver, obtendo um índice Kappa de 0,80, contra 0,79, respectivamente. Nas classificações realizadas a classe que apresentou maior erro de classificação foi a pastagem no nível de degradação forte, enquanto a maior exatidão na classificação foi obtida pelo café, para ambos os classificadores, com 100 e 96%, respectivamente.

The aim of this work is to evaluate the artificial neural networks and the maximum likelihood classification performances to classify land uses at Viçosa, Minas Gerais State, using ASTER images in order to verify degradation levels of pastures. In this study, three different levels of pasture degradation have been identified (moderate, strong and very strong) and an image composition of 3 bands was tested (covering the visible and the near infra-red) with 15 m of spatial resolution. The neural networks simulator used was the "Neural Java Network Simulator", with a feed forward model and the learning algorithm of back propagation. The obtained results show that the classification using neural networks, while presenting a slightly superior result, had a statistically similar performance compared to the maximum likelihood, getting a Kappa index of 0.80, against 0.79, respectively. In relation to individual performances, the class that presented the greatest error of classification was pasture in the level of very strong degradation, while the largest accuracy in the classification was obtained for coffee, for both classifiers, with 100 and 96% (respectively, Maxver and neural networks).

Os vírus pertencentes ao subgrupo do Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV, gênero Potyvirus, família Potyviridae) infectam e causam mosaico em diferentes espécies botânicas da subfamília Panicoideae (família Poaceae), porém apenas o SCMV e o Sorghum mosaic virus (SrMV) infectam naturalmente cana-de-açúcar. No Brasil, a espécie SCMV parece ser o único agente causal da doença. Embora a maioria das variedades comerciais de cana-de-açúcar seja considerada resistente ou tolerante ao SCMV, relatos de incidência de mosaico em tais variedades têm ocorrido no campo. Amostras com sintomas, de diversos clones e variedades, foram coletadas em campos experimentais e comerciais de cana-de-açúcar. Dentre as variedades, a RB72-454, uma das mais plantadas no país e considerada resistente à doença, também apresentou plantas com sintomas de mosaico. As amostras foram testadas por DAS-ELISA, com anti-soros policlonais para as espécies SCMV, Johnsongrass mosaic virus (JGMV) e Maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV), apresentando resultados negativos. Porém, sintomas de mosaico foram observados em mudas de sorgo "Rio" e "TX2786" quando inoculadas mecanicamente com os isolados, indicando tratar-se de infecção pelo SCMV. RNA total foi extraído das folhas de cana e submetido a RT-PCR com oligonucleotídeos específicos para SCMV e SrMV. Fragmentos específicos de aproximadamente 880 pares de bases foram amplificados com os oligonucleotídeos para o SCMV, confirmando os resultados da inoculação mecânica. Os produtos de PCR foram clonados e seqüenciados. Um dos isolados de SCMV encontrado constitui uma nova estirpe, mais severa, capaz de infectar plantas da variedade RB72-454 e de outras variedades, consideradas tolerantes, no campo.

Viruses in the Sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV, genus Potyvirus, family Potyviridae), subgroup cause mosaic in different botanical species in the subfamily Panicoideae (family Poaceae). However, only SCMV and Sorghum mosaic virus (SrMV) naturally infect sugarcane. In Brazil, SCMV seems to be the only causal agent of mosaic in sugarcane. Most sugarcane cultivars are believed to be resistant to mosaic, although new cases have been reported in the field. Symptomatic samples, from several clones and cultivars, were collected in sugarcane crops. Among these cultivars, RB72-454, one of the most grown in Brazil, and considered resistant, showed plants with mosaic symptoms. Samples were tested by DAS-ELISA with antisera to SCMV, Johnsongrass mosaic virus (JGMV) and Maize dwarf mosaic virus (MDMV), showing negative results. However, sorghum "Rio" and "TX2786" showed mosaic symptoms when mechanically inoculated with the viral isolates, indicating infection by SCMV. Total RNA was extracted and submitted to amplification with specific primers to SCMV and SrMV in RT-PCR. Specific bands with ca. 880 bp were amplified with the SCMV-specific primer pair, corroborating results from mechanical inoculation. PCR products were cloned and sequenced. One of the SCMV isolates comprises a new and more severe strain capable of infecting RB72-454 and other tolerant cultivars in the field.

Este artigo tem como objetivo quantificar o carregamento de contingência sobre as Provisões Matemáticas de Entidades Fechadas de Previdência Complementar - EFPCs, para entidades de diferentes portes, demonstrando, assim, a influência da variável "número de participantes" no nível de carregamento de contingência estipulado. Através de estudo exploratório, com pesquisas bibliográfica e experimental, foram determinadas as taxas de carregamento de contingência para diferentes arranjos previdenciários. Os resultados mostraram que as taxas de carregamento das obrigações das EFPCs são decrescentes com o aumento do tamanho do grupo de seus participantes, considerando-se cada nível de solvência estudado. Constatou-se, ainda, que a necessidade de elevadas taxas de contingência dificultam a constituição de planos em EFPCs por Pequenas e Médias Empresas - PMEs. Por fim, são apresentadas sugestões e alternativas para que as PMEs possam patrocinar planos de previdência em EFPCs: aprimorar, incentivar e difundir arranjos previdenciais flexíveis, operados por EFPCs multipatrocinadas, que recepcionem empregados de distintas origens laborais e de diferentes necessidades previdenciais.

This study aims to quantify the safety loading on the standard actuarial liability of Brazilian Supplementary Private Pension Plans - EFPCs, for entities of different sizes, thus emphasizing the effect of the "number of insureds" variable on the established level of contingency loading, in view of the desired solvency chance. By means of an exploratory study, including bibliographic and experimental research, safety loading rates were determined for several insurance arrangements. The study results show that the loading rates of EFPC liabilities sharply decrease as the number of insureds increases, for each stipulated solvency level Moreover, the need for high loading rates pose important difficulties for small and medium firms - PMEs to undertake a private pension plan by themselves. Finally, some alternatives and suggestions are presented in order to permit PMEs to sponsor a pension plan in already functioning EFPCs: improve, stimulate and disseminate flexible pension arrangements, to be operated by multisponsored EFPCs, to cover insureds of different sectors and firms ana with distinct insurance needs.

O manejo inadequado e a baixa disponibilidade de nutrientes nos solos da Zona da Mata de Minas Gerais, têm resultado em baixas produtividades de pastagens, aparecimento de solos descobertos e perdas de solo por erosão. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a capacidade das imagens do sensor ASTER em identificar diferentes níveis de degradação de pastagens. A área de estudo inclui parte dos municípios de Viçosa, Teixeiras e São Miguel do Anta, perfazendo cerca de 3.314 ha. Devido às características das pastagens da região, foram utilizados quatro níveis de degradação: leve, moderada, forte e muito forte. A classe que apresentou maior erro de classificação foi a pastagem com nível de degradação muito forte (Pastagem 4), com 53,91% dos pixels classificados, confundindo-se com as demais classes. A pastagem com nível de degradação moderada (Pastagem 2) apresentou a melhor classificação. Da área avaliada, aproximadamente 70% correspondem a pastagens, sendo 56,46% classificadas como fortemente degradadas; 28,73% Mata/Capoeira e 1,54% plantações de café. Os resultados permitiram concluir que as imagens do sensor ASTER apresentaram um potencial satisfatório para separar os diferentes níveis de degradação de pastagens.

The improper management and the low availability of nutrients of soils in "Zona da Mata" in Minas Gerais State, Brazil, have led to low productivity of natural pasture, emergence of bare soils and soil losses by erosion. The objective of this work was to evaluate the capacity of ASTER sensor images to identify different levels of degradation in pasture lands. The studied area includes part of Viçosa, Teixeiras, and São Miguel do Anta municipalities, forming a total area around 3,314 ha. Due to natural characteristics of the pasture in this region, four levels of degradation were used: light, moderate, strong, and very strong. The class that showed the highest error in the classification was the very strong, degraded with 53.91% of the classified pixels, not distinguishable from the other classes. The moderate degradation class showed the best classification. From the total evaluated area, approximately 70% corresponded to pasture, 56.46% of which was classified in the strong degradation level, 28.73% to 'Mata/Capoeira' and only 1.54% to coffee plantations. The results permit to conclude that the use of sensor ASTER images was satisfactory to separate degradation levels of pasture lands in the studied area.

ABSTRACT This work provides a map (restricted to Atlantic forest fragments, mangroves and coastal shrubs and legally protected areas) and a list with a brief description of 81 Special Areas (SA’s) of Santa Catarina State composed by 71 Conservation Units (CU's) and 10 Indigenous Areas. Propose the wide of protected land, describing briefly some possible areas to compose the set of SA’s of the State.

RESUMO Este trabalho apresenta um mapa (restrito a remanescentes da Mata Atlântica, mangue, restingas e áreas legalmente protegidas) e uma atualização da listagem com uma breve descrição de 81 Áreas Especiais (AE’s) no Estado de Santa Catarina. Esta listagem foi composta por 71 Unidades de Conservação (UC’s) e 10 Áreas Indígenas. Propõe-se ainda a ampliação do território protegido através da breve descrição de algumas áreas passíveis de compor o conjunto das AE's do Estado.
