Abstract The females of yellowtail tetra (Astyanax lacustris), known as the freshwater sardine, are approximately 1.33 times larger than males, and thus, all-female monosex culture would increase production and reduce size variability. The present work aimed to identify the optimal dose of 17α-methyltestosterone (MT) to be used in the masculinization of A. lacustris for indirect sex reversal. Three different concentrations of MT (20, 40, and 60 mg/kg of feed in the diet) were fed to the fry for 30 days. Thirty adult individuals from each treatment, including the control (0 mg MT/kg), were evaluated for gonadal development, morphological and histological sexual identification, zootechnical performance, and the possible genotoxic effect caused by prolonged exposure to MT. MT significantly (P<0.01) affected the differentiation of the gonads, with the presence of possible inhibitory effects in all treatments. Intersex individuals were present in the 20 and 60 mg MT/kg treatments. All treatments were able to masculinize A. lacustris and the treatment with the lowest hormone concentration produced the highest percentage of males 76.7%, while the control had 46.7% males. The presence of erythrocyte nuclear alterations indicated a possible cytotoxic effect of MT in treatments 40 and 60 mg MT/kg, however, the use of the hormone did not affect the growth and the survival of the individuals. Thus, the use of MT is a viable option for obtaining neomales as a first step into the production of all-female progenies.

Resumo Devido à importância ecológica de Lophiosilurus alexandri, o presente trabalho avaliou sua representatividade genética, comparando estoques selvagens com plantéis de reprodutores de três larviculturas ao longo do Rio São Francisco. Noventa e sete amostras foram genotipadas com marcadores microssatélites recém-desenvolvidos. Baixos níveis de diversidade genética (número médio de alelos de 4,2) foram detectados em todos os casos, sendo mais severo no cativeiro. Os valores de FST e DEST par a par, as análises do Structure e DAPC mostraram a estruturação dos animais selvagens em dois grupos, e um terceiro formado pelas larviculturas, evidenciando a necessidade de adoção de critérios genéticos para retenção da diversidade genética no cativeiro. Por essa razão, três famílias de irmãos completos foram construídas para selecionar o melhor estimador de parentesco para a espécie e estabelecer os valores mínimos de corte para evitar cruzamentos indesejados. Dois estimadores, Wang (RW) e Lynch & Li (RLL), foram eficientes em refletir as relações de parentesco para irmãos completos nessa espécie. Segundo eles, menos de 50% dos potenciais cruzamentos são recomendáveis nas três larviculturas. A baixa diversidade genética inerente ao L. alexandri destaca a importância de minimizar a consanguinidade e evitar perda de diversidade genética, visando a recuperação da espécie.

Abstract Due to the ecological importance of Lophiosilurus alexandri, the present work evaluated its genetic representativeness by comparing wild stocks to broodstocks that were kept at three restocking hatcheries along the São Francisco River. A total of 97 samples were genotyped for newly developed microsatellite markers. Low levels of genetic diversity (average alleles number of 4.2 alleles) were detected in all cases, being more severe in captive groups. Significant pairwise FST and DEST values, Structure, and DAPC analyses showed that wild animals were structured in two groups, and a third group was formed by captive animals, evidencing the need to adopt genetic criteria to retain genetic diversity in the hatcheries. For this reason, three full-sib families were constructed to select the best relatedness estimator for L. alexandri and establish a cut-off value aimed to avoid full-sibling matings in the hatcheries. Two estimators, Wang (RW) and Lynch & Li (RLL), were accurate in reflecting the relatedness level for full-sibs in this species. According to them, less than 50% of the potential breeding matings in the three hatcheries are advisable. The innate low diversity of L. alexandri highlights the importance of minimizing inbreeding and retaining genetic diversity towards the species recovery.

RESUMO Racional: Carcinoma incidental da vesícula biliar é definido como uma neoplasia descoberta por exame histológico após colecistectomia videolaparoscópica. É potencialmente uma doença curável. Entretanto algumas questões relacionadas ao seu manuseio permanecem controversas e uma estratégia definida está associada com melhor prognóstico. Objetivo: Desenvolver o primeiro consenso baseado em evidências para o manuseio de pacientes com carcinoma incidental da vesícula biliar no Brasil. Métodos: Dezesseis questões foram selecionadas e para responder as questões e 36 membros das sociedades brasileiras e internacionais foram incluídos. As recomendações foram baseadas em evidências da literatura atual. Um relatório final foi enviado para os membros do painel para avaliação de concordância. Resultados: Avaliação intraoperatória da peça cirúrgica, uso de bolsas para retirar a peça cirúrgica e exame histopatológico de rotina, foram recomendados. Avaliação pré-operatória completa é necessária e deve ser realizada assim que o estadiamento final esteja disponível. Avaliação da margem do ducto cístico e biópsia de rotina do linfonodo 16b1 são recomendadas. Quimioterapia deve ser considerada e quimioradioterapia indicada se a margem cirúrgica microscópica seja positiva. Os portais devem ser ressecados excepcionalmente. O estadiamento laparoscópico antes da operação é recomendado, mas o tratamento radical por abordagem minimamente invasiva deve ser realizado apenas em centros especializados em cirurgia hepatopancreatobiliar minimamente invasiva. A extensão da ressecção hepática é aceitável até que seja alcançada a ressecção R0. A linfadenectomia padrão é indicada para tumores iguais ou superiores a T2, mas a ressecção da via biliar não é recomendada de rotina. Conclusões: Recomendações seguras foram preparadas para carcinoma incidental da vesícula biliar, destacando os mais frequentes tópicos do trabalho diário do cirurgião do aparelho digestivo e hepatopancreatobiliar.

ABSTRACT Background: Incidental gallbladder cancer is defined as a cancer discovered by histological examination after cholecystectomy. It is a potentially curable disease. However, some questions related to their management remain controversial and a defined strategy is associated with better prognosis. Aim: To develop the first evidence-based consensus for management of patients with incidental gallbladder cancer in Brazil. Methods: Sixteen questions were selected, and 36 Brazilian and International members were included to the answer them. The statements were based on current evident literature. The final report was sent to the members of the panel for agreement assessment. Results: Intraoperative evaluation of the specimen, use of retrieval bags and routine histopathology is recommended. Complete preoperative evaluation is necessary and the reoperation should be performed once final staging is available. Evaluation of the cystic duct margin and routine 16b1 lymph node biopsy is recommended. Chemotherapy should be considered and chemoradiation therapy if microscopically positive surgical margins. Port site should be resected exceptionally. Staging laparoscopy before reoperation is recommended, but minimally invasive radical approach only in specialized minimally invasive hepatopancreatobiliary centers. The extent of liver resection is acceptable if R0 resection is achieved. Standard lymph node dissection is required for T2 tumors and above, but common bile duct resection is not recommended routinely. Conclusions: It was possible to prepare safe recommendations as guidance for incidental gallbladder carcinoma, addressing the most frequent topics of everyday work of digestive and general surgeons.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the chemical and energetic composition of Brazil nut waste in the city of Castanhal-PA. Some of the material was crushed, sifted and stored for acclimatization and analysis. Molecular and immediate chemical analyses were performed on the raw material according to NBR standards. Another part was charred in Muffle furnace, with heating rate of 1.67 °C.min-1 and temperature of 450 °C for 60 minutes. For biomass, 55.76% of lignin and 2.61% of minerals were found. Means of 65.67% for volatiles were also found; 2.08% of ashes and 21.64% of fixed carbon. In the elementary, means of 53.54% of carbon and 0.11% of sulfur were found. For charcoal, 25.81% of volatiles were found; 1.76% of ashes and 67.50% of fixed carbon. Residues have high levels of lignin, fixed carbon and low ash contents, demonstrating potential for direct burning for energy, charcoal, activated carbon and biochar.

Resumo Este artigo analisou os indicadores de resiliência oculta em adolescentes que tiveram envolvimento no tráfico de drogas. Participaram 551 adolescentes e jovens, entre 12-20 anos de idade (M = 16,01; DP = 1,548), de ambos os sexos, sendo 55,4% meninos. Os participantes são provenientes de instituições de três cidades localizadas no interior de São Paulo que atendem adolescentes com e sem histórico de envolvimento no tráfico de drogas. Foi utilizado o instrumento denominado Child and Youth Resilience Measure para verificação dos indicadores de resiliência nas populações. Paradoxalmente, os adolescentes com maior envolvimento no tráfico apresentaram maiores indicadores de resiliência. Questionam-se os modelos explicativos hegemônicos sobre resiliência e propõe-se que novos estudos sobre resiliência oculta sejam conduzidos.

Abstract This paper identifies hidden resilience processes among adolescents and young adults who have had involvement in drug trafficking. The participants were 551 adolescents and young people, aged 12-20 years (M = 16.01; SD = 1.548) from both genders, 55.4% of whom were boys. They were recruited from three social service institutions located in the state of São Paulo, which offer services for adolescents with and without a history of involvement in drug trafficking. To assess rates of resilience, the Child and Youth Resilience Measure was employed. Contrary to expectations, adolescents with greater involvement in drug trafficking had higher rates of resilience. This paper challenges the hegemonic conceptualization of resilience and proposes that more studies of hidden resilience need to be conducted.

Resumo: Esta pesquisa investiga o contexto escolar de adolescentes com histórico de violência sexual, enfatizando suas percepções em relação aos mecanismos de proteção e vulnerabilidade a partir de abordagem ecológica de resiliência. O estudo foi realizado em um programa social localizado numa cidade do interior do estado de São Paulo. Inicialmente, 31 adolescentes, de 12 a 18 anos, de ambos os sexos e com histórico de violência sexual responderam um questionário que avaliou os processos de resiliência. Baseado nessas repostas, um subgrupo de sete adolescentes foi selecionado para participar de entrevistas semiestruturadas que versavam sobre o papel das escolas em suas vidas. Cinco temas foram identificados a partir desses dados, abrangendo duas categorias nomeadas como “avaliação da estrutura escolar” e “processos formativos através da diversidade e diferença”. A exploração dos conteúdos das entrevistas revelou que as escolas ocupam um espaço ambivalente em termos dos fatores de risco e proteção na vida dos participantes, predominando indicadores sociais negativos.

Abstract: This study examines the school context of adolescents with a sexual violence history, highlighting their perceptions of protective and vulnerability mechanisms within a social ecological resilience framework. The study was conducted in a youth service agency located in a mid-sized city in the inner of Sao Paulo state. Initially, 31 male and female adolescents victims of sexual violence, aged 12-18, answered survey items assessing resilience processes. Based on their responses, a subgroup of seven adolescents was selected to participate in individual semi-structured interviews addressing the role of school in their lives. Five key themes were identified in the data, with two overarching categories emerging: ‘evaluation of school structure’ and ‘formative processes through diversity and difference’. Exploration of interview excerpts within these categories revealed that schools occupy an ambivalent space in terms of risk and protective factors in the participants’ lives, with predominately negative social indicators emerging.

ResumoA pesquisa teve por objetivo analisar, por meio da Psicologia Histórico-Cultural, as percepções que seis estudantes dos 9º anos do Ensino Fundamental de duas escolas públicas de uma cidade de médio porte do interior do estado de São Paulo têm sobre o bullying, além das formas de enfrentamento por eles indicadas. Os estudantes foram identificados através do Scan-Bullying como possíveis agressores, vítimas e expectadores de bullying. Posteriormente, realizaram-se entrevistas semiestruturadas. Tal procedimento serviu para gerar reflexões acerca do tema, em consonância com o referencial epistemológico da pesquisa. Os resultados apontam que, por mais que os estudantes percebam a presença do bullying dentro do contexto escolar, suas percepções e estratégias propostas para resolver as ocorrências de bullyingsão reducionistas e não focam na origem do problema. Assim, não há o reconhecimento dos determinantes sociais e culturais nas manifestações do bullying.

AbstractThe research aimed to analyze through the Historical-Cultural Psychology, perceptions that six students from 9th grade of two public schools, one medium-sized city in the state of São Paulo, have about bullying, and strategies of coping indicated by them. Students were identified through the Scan-Bullying as possible perpetrators, victims and bystanders of bullying. Subsequently, semi-structured interviews were conducted. This procedure was used to generate reflections on the field, aligned to the epistemological framework of the research. The findings indicate that, although most students perceive the presence of bullying within the school context, their perceptions and strategies proposed to deal with instances of bullying are reductionist and do not focus on the source of the problem. Thus, there is no recognition of cultural and social determinants in the manifestations of bullying.

ResumenLa investigación tuvo como objetivo examinar, a través de la Psicología Histórico-Cultural, la percepción de que los seis estudiantes del 3º años de educación secundaria, de dos escuelas públicas de una ciudad de tamaño medio en el estado de São Paulo tienen sobre el acoso escolar, además de formas de afrontamiento indicado por ellos. Los estudiantes fueron identificados a través de la Scan-Bullying como posibles autores, víctimas y testigos de la intimidación. Posteriormente, se realizaron entrevistas semi-estructuradas. Este procedimiento sirvió para generar reflexiones sobre el tema, de acuerdo con el marco epistemológico de la investigación. Los resultados indican que, para la mayoría de los estudiantes a experimentar la presencia del acoso escolar en el contexto de la escuela, sus percepciones y estrategias propuestas para resolver los casos de acoso son reduccionistas y no han centrado en el origen del problema. Por lo tanto, no hay un reconocimiento de los determinantes sociales y culturales en las manifestaciones de acoso escolar.

<p>O artigo apresenta os resultados de uma pesquisa, realizada em duas cidades de médio porte do estado de São Paulo, cujo objetivo foi identificar e analisar processos protetivos associados à resiliência. Os participantes foram 16 adolescentes, de faixa etária entre 14 e 17 anos, expostos a adversidades. Neste trabalho são apresentados os resultados referentes a quatro adolescentes com deficiência física ou auditiva incluídos em escolas regulares. Foi realizado um estudo exploratório, incluindo entrevistas semiestruturadas e métodos visuais (fotografias e filmagens do cotidiano), os quais foram analisados segundo a Teoria Fundamentada nos Dados (TFD). Foram identificados diversos aspectos relativos: 1) aos processos de resiliência dos participantes, associados à qualidade dos relacionamentos interpessoais estabelecidos entre eles, colegas e profissionais da educação, com destaque para os professores intérpretes; 2) ao uso das tecnologias e mídias sociais no favorecimento da comunicação entre eles, amigos e familiares sem deficiência, e 2) às estratégias de enfrentamento da dor e das limitações físicas visando ao bem-estar a médio prazo. Ressalta-se a necessidade de trabalhar em prol do fortalecimento dos adolescentes com deficiência e de auxiliá-los na promoção de seu caminho em direção à inclusão escolar e social, por meio de reflexões sobre o lugar ocupado pelas escolas em suas vidas, o que pode favorecer os processos de resiliência.</p>

<p>The paper presents the results of a survey conducted in two medium sized cities in the state of São Paulo, aimeing to identify and analyze protective processes associated with resilience. The participants were 16 teenagers, aged 14 to 17 years, who were exposed to adversities. This paper presents the results related to 4 adolescents with physical disabilities or deafness who are included in regular schools. An exploratory study was carried out, using semi-structured interviews and visual methods (photographs and videotaped recordings of daily life), which were analyzed according to Grounded Theory. Several aspects were identified regarding: 1) the participants' resilience processes associated to the quality of interpersonal relationships established among themselves, their peers and education professionals, underscoring the teacher interpreters; 2) the use of technology and social media in fostering communication between these students, their friends and family members without disabilities, and 3) the use of coping strategies to deal with pain and physical limitations, aiming for medium term well-being. The paper highlights the importance of working towards promoting a strengthening process for young people with disabilities in order to provide them with a pathway towards educational and social inclusion through reflections on the role played by schools in their lives, so as to promote resilience processes.</p>

The impact of neurological disorders in society is growing with alarming estimations for an incidence increase in the next decades. These disorders are generally chronic and can affect individuals early during productive life, imposing real limitations on the performance of their social roles. Patients can have their independence, autonomy, freedom, self-image, and self-confidence affected. In spite of their availability, drugs for the treatment of these disorders are commonly associated with side effects, which can vary in frequency and severity. Currently, no effective cure is known. Nowadays, the biopharmaceutical research community widely recognizes arthropod venoms as a rich source of bioactive compounds, providing a plethora of possibilities for the discovery of new neuroactive compounds, opening up novel and attractive opportunities in this field. Several identified molecules with a neuropharmacological profile can act in the central nervous system on different neuronal targets, rendering them useful tools for the study of neurological disorders. In this context, this review aims to describe the current main compounds extracted from arthropod venoms for the treatment of five major existing neurological disorders: stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, and pathological anxiety.

A alimentação saudável e diversificada é essencial para a manutenção da saúde física e mental, e apesar de o perfil alimentar atual valorizar a praticidade do comer, nota-se que a população está consumindo, de forma crescente, frutas, tanto na forma in natura como na forma de sucos. No entanto, o consumo de certas frutas in natura ocorre acompanhado da ingestão de suas sementes, cascas ou mesmo outras partes, podendo existir fatores antinutricionais, moléculas e/ou compostos que podem interferir na biodisponibilidade e/ou digestibilidade de nutrientes, tais como os inibidores de tripsina. Tais inibidores podem prejudicar o aproveitamento de proteínas presentes nos alimentos, porém estudos recentes vêm sendo divulgados, demonstrando também os efeitos benéficos dos mesmos. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar inibidores de tripsina nos extratos aquosos das frutas: goiaba (Psidium guajava L), das variedades Kumagai (branca) e Paluma (vermelha); maracujá-amarelo (Passiflora edulis f.) e melancia (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad). Para tal, foi realizada a detecção da presença da atividade antitríptica e a dosagem de proteínas solúveis. Em todos os extratos analisados, foi detectada atividade inibitória de tripsina, bem como de proteínas solúveis. Assim, a inibição pode ser explicada pela presença de inibidores proteicos, pois, nos extratos de sementes, em SDS-PAGE, foi possível visualizar um largo espectro de bandas proteicas. Vale ressaltar que, no estudo, as bandas proteicas que coincidem com as massas moleculares dos inibidores de tripsina não apareceram de forma majoritária, demonstrando que os extratos de sementes, provavelmente, possuem inibidor proteico, no entanto em pouca quantidade, justificando a baixa atividade antitríptica (1,36 a 15,15 UI / mg de peso seco), também apresentada pelos extratos de polpa. Portanto, tendo em vista o consumo recomendado das frutas, incluindo goiaba, maracujá e melancia, possivelmente, esta atividade inibitória esteja mais relacionada a benefícios do que a prejuízos à saúde, enfatizando, entretanto, o cuidado com o consumo de quantidades elevadas de sementes presentes e consumidas nestas frutas.

A healthy and diversified eating is essential for the maintenance of physical and mental health, and despite the current trend that appreciates the convenience of eating, it is noted that the population is increasingly consuming fruit, both in natura and / or juices. However, the use of certain fresh fruits is accompanied by the consumption of the seeds, peels or other parts may contain antinutritional factors, molecules and / or compounds that may adversely affect the bioavailability and / or digestibility of nutrients, such as inhibitors of trypsin. Such inhibitors may impair the utilization of proteins in food, but recent studies have been published also demonstrating the beneficial effects of the same. This study aimed to evaluate the trypsin inhibitors in aqueous extracts of fruits: guava (Psidium guajava L) varieties Kumagai (white) and Paluma (red), yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis f.) and watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris Schrad). Tests were done in order to detect the presence of antitryptic activity and the dosage of soluble proteins. Trypsin inhibitory activity was detected in all extracts tested, as well as soluble proteins. Thus, inhibition can be explained by the presence of an inhibitor protein, because it was possible, in seed extracts, in SDS-PAGE, to visualize a wide range of protein bands. It is noteworthy that in the study, the protein bands that coincide with the molecular masses of the trypsin inhibitors did not appear in a majority, showing that seed extracts are likely to have protein inhibitor, however sparingly, justifying the low antitryptic activity (1, 36 to 15.15 IU / mg of dry weight), also shown by the extracts of the pulp. Therefore, having the recommended consumption of fruits including guava, passion fruit and watermelon in sight, possibly this inhibitory activity is more related to benefits than to hazards, regarding one's health. However, it is important to emphasize a careful consumption of large quantities of seeds present in these fruits.

The prevalence of occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection was investigated in 149 hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) negative injecting drug users (IDUs) in the Central-West Region of Brazil. Of these individuals, 19 were positive for HBV DNA, resulting in an occult HBV infection prevalence of 12.7% (19/149); six of these 19 individuals had anti-HBV core and/or anti-HBV surface antibodies and 13 were negative for HBV markers. All IDUs with occult hepatitis B reported sexual and/or parenteral risk behaviours. All HBV DNA-positive samples were successfully genotyped. Genotype D was the most common (17/19), followed by genotype A (2/19). These findings reveal a high prevalence of occult HBV infection and the predominance of genotype D among IDUs in Brazil's Central-West Region.

O presente artigo visa apresentar as principais idéias e conceitos sobre resiliência, tendo como parâmetro a produção de Michael Ungar. Inicialmente será apresentada a perspectiva pós-moderna, na qual discutir-se-á sobre a construção social do conceito de resiliência e em seguida será introduzido ao leitor o conceito de "hidden resilience", aqui traduzido como resiliência oculta e relacionado a estratégias de coping não-convencionais. As pesquisas com adolescentes no Canadá e em vários países possibilitou a consolidação da proposta elaborada pelo autor, para o qual resiliência refere-se a uma experiência relacionada à capacidade do indivíduo de navegar por recursos associados ao bem-estar e à capacidade de suas famílias e comunidade em prover tais recursos de formas culturalmente significativas. Implicações para práticas profissionais na área da adolescência e juventude serão discutidas.

The purpose of this paper is to present the main concepts and ideas about resilience developed by Michael Ungar. At first, it will be discussed his post-modern approach of resilience and the social construction of the phenomenon. Thereafter, it will be presented the concept of hidden resilience related to unusual coping strategies. Researches carried out with adolescents in Canada and other countries solidified the conception of resilience as an experience associated to the individual's capacity to develop resources associated to his/her well-being and the condition of the individual's family and community to provide such resources in culturally meaningful ways. It will also deal with implications for professional practices with at-risk adolescents.

Nesse artigo, analisamos a questão do trabalho infantil como um fenômeno complexo, englobando fatores de risco por um lado e possíveis resultados positivos por outro. Baseados na teoria da resiliência e a partir de uma revisão de literatura, centrada em pesquisas que analisam a própria experiência de crianças sobre o trabalho desenvolvido, mostramos que quando inseridos em ecologias socialmente e fisicamente pobres em recursos, crianças associam sua experiência de trabalho como um caminho para assegurar recursos próprios para superação de adversidades. A compreensão de aspectos subjetivos da experiência de crianças trabalhadores nos permite considerar o trabalho como uma construção culturalmente embasada. Apesar da exploração de crianças não se configurar como o melhor para elas, há evidências de que elas usam quaisquer oportunidades disponíveis, incluindo o trabalho, para navegar em busca de recursos que necessitam e negociam por uma identidade associada à resiliência. Implicações para políticas públicas e intervenções também são discutidas.

In this paper we explore children's labor as a complex phenomenon encompassing risk factors on one hand and possible positive outcomes on the other. Based on the theory of resilience and on literature review that details children's own experiences of work, we show that children who are inserted in environments which are poor in social and physical resources may report labor as pathways to ensure their own resources to overcome adversity. Understanding children's subjective accounts of their experience permits us to see children's labor as a culturally-embedded construction. Though exploitation of children is not in the best interest of children, there is evidence that children use whatever opportunities are available, including labor, to search for the resources they need and negotiate for an identity as resilient. Implications for public policies and practices are discussed.

A presente pesquisa, de natureza quali-quantitativa, teve como objetivo caracterizar o bullying em duas escolas públicas estaduais de Presidente Prudente-SP, através da aplicação de questionários semi-aberto, em duzentos e oitenta e três alunos de 5as e 8as séries, quanto à: freqüência, gênero, local e idades prevalecentes de acometimento do bullying, tipos, local de residência do aluno, efeitos sobre o comportamento e sentimentos do vitimizado, e opiniões dos participantes sobre o enfrentamento do problema. O questionário utilizado baseou-se em estudos de Elliott (1992) e Olweus (1991). Os resultados permitiram caracterizar as dimensões do bullying na realidade estudada, bem como constatar sua presença no ambiente escolar, o que requer mais atenção dos profissionais da educação para o enfrentamento do fenômeno.

This research, of quali-quantitative nature, had the aim of characterizing the phenomenon of bullying in two state public schools of Presidente Prudente-SP through the use of questionnaires applied to two hundred eighty-three students of 5th and 8th grades. It was taken into consideration frequency, gender, most common places and ages of bullying prevalence, students' place of living, effects on the behavior and the feelings of the victim, as well as the opinion of the participants about facing the problem. The questionnaire used was based on studies of Elliot (1992) and Olweus (1991). The results were likely to characterize the dimensions of bullying in the studied reality, what allowed us to confirm its presence in the school environment, requesting more attention from the education professionals concerning the phenomenon.

A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo principal compreender os processos que conduzem à produção da exploração sexual comercial de adolescentes na sociedade contemporânea. Realizamos uma análise da literatura da área e um estudo de campo, que contou com a participação de 14 adolescentes do sexo feminino, que se encontravam em situação de prostituição. Foram utilizados como procedimentos metodológicos: aplicação de questionários-entrevista, realização de entrevistas abertas, observações e informações de educadoras sociais. Elaboramos o perfil sócio-demográfico das adolescentes e suas famílias e criamos categorias temáticas expressivas dos conteúdos identificados. Constatamos que na produção do fenômeno encontram-se presentes múltiplos fatores que se entrecruzam de forma sinérgica nas trajetórias de vida das adolescentes. Ações de enfrentamento ao fenômeno requerem ações macro-estruturais e focais, nos mostrando a necessidade de repensarmos as concepções sobre os direitos das crianças e adolescentes, vivência de sexualidade, valores culturais e sociais, que acabam por permitir a emergência e perpetuação da exploração sexual comercial de crianças e adolescentes.

The present research had as main objective to understand the processes that lead to the production of the commercial sexual exploitation of adolescents in the contemporary society. An analysis of the literature of the area and field study was accomplished which counted on the participation by fourteen female adolescents who were involved in the prostitution modality. We used as instruments: questionnairy-interviews, oral reports, observation and information of the social educators. The social-demographic profile of the adolescents and their families was elaborated and was created expressive thematic categories of the identified contents. We confirmed that in the production of the phenomenon there are multiple factors that intersect themselves in a synergic way in the adolescents' path life. Affronting policies require macro-structural and focal actions, besides it is necessary that we rethink the conceptions, concerning to children and adolescents rights, about the sexuality experiences, cultural and social values that end allowing the emergency and perpetuation of the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents.
