Abstract Health services, in particular pediatric units in a hospital, are increasingly committed to human well-being, on the one hand by researching more effective treatments, on the other hand by promoting emotional well-being for their patients, caregivers and professionals. The investment in making hospital environments and services more humane is evident in several studies and projects disseminated around the world. Even so, and despite these efforts, most people continue to have a negative feeling when they think of a hospital. For an institution whose main objective is to preserve and restore health, a negative impression or a feeling of discomfort can be seen as a factor of stress that does not contribute to the patients’ quick recovery. Although fear or stress reduction values are difficult to quantify, empirical evidence shows that there are intangible factors crucial for the patients’ recovery and well-being (Lankston et al., 2010) [1]. This is an issue of increasing importance, therefore this paper will analyze how illustration can play a decisive role in the child’s perception and overall experience in hospital. It will also evaluate how illustrators and storytellers' commitment in creating a positive, playful and comfortable environment for patients and caregivers has been recognised by the whole community. The process of adapting an illustrated children’s picture book to a specific hospital area, its effectiveness and how it can reach other audiences, will be widely analyzed.

Resumo Os serviços de saúde e em particular as unidades pediátricas dos hospitais, estão cada vez mais comprometidos com o bem-estar humano, quer através da investigação de tratamentos mais eficazes, quer pela promoção do bem-estar emocional dos seus pacientes, cuidadores e profissionais. O investimento na humanização dos ambientes e serviços hospitalares é evidenciado em diversos estudos e projetos divulgados ao redor do mundo. Ainda assim, e apesar destes esforços, a maioria das pessoas continua a ter um sentimento negativo quando fala ou pensa em “hospital”. Para uma instituição cujo objetivo principal é preservar e restaurar a saúde, uma impressão negativa ou o sentimento de desconforto pode ser visto como um fator de stress que não contribui para a rápida recuperação dos pacientes. Embora os valores de redução do medo ou do stress sejam difíceis de quantificar, a evidência empírica mostra que existem fatores intangíveis, cruciais para a recuperação e bem-estar dos pacientes (Lankston, e.o., 2010). Sendo este um tema que tem vindo a ganhar uma importância crescente, pretende-se com este trabalho analisar como a ilustração pode desempenhar um papel decisivo na percepção da criança e na sua experiência global num hospital. De igual modo será avaliado o compromisso que ilustradores e contadores de histórias têm tido ao criar ambientes positivos, lúdicos e confortáveis para pacientes e cuidadores, sendo estes reconhecidos por toda a comunidade. Por fim, será amplamente analisado o processo de adaptação de um livro ilustrado infantil a uma área hospitalar específica, a sua eficácia e como este pode chegar a outros públicos.

Abstract: We set out from the observation that, even though mediation involves and defines the modes of relationship between individuals and the real, reality is unavoidable. However, considering the diluting importance of the referent to legitimizing image production between the 19th and the 20th century, and despite the emergence of photography as a medium involving the referent's presence, the relationship between individuals and images is argued to be largely grounded on a connection between these two entities. These do not need the referent, and this relationship, when specific, may justify approximations such as Roland Barthes' punctum. Thus, the image provides a space that allows the subject to project itself beyond it. That space stands as a definition of the image as surface and depth. In contrast, the situation of the images is brought closer to the body's condition. Through this comparison, the importance and reality of the referent, as a "thing in itself", is argued to exist when the image cannot control the excess the referent is, just as the body, when it cannot control the flesh, makes it visible. The image is to the body as the referent is to the flesh. The images of loved ones or war atrocities exemplify this emergence of the referent as a symptom.

Resumo: Parte-se da constatação de que, apesar da mediação que implica e define os modos de relacionamento entre indivíduos e real, a realidade é incontornável. No entanto, e tendo em conta a diluição da importância do referente enquanto forma de legitimação da produção de imagens na passagem do século XIX para o século XX, e apesar da emergência da fotografia enquanto meio que implica a presença do referente, defende-se que a relação entre indivíduos e imagens se funda, em grande medida, numa relação entre estas duas entidades, que prescinde do referente, e que é esta relação, quando específica, que pode justificar aproximações como a do punctum, de Roland Barthes. Nesta aceção, existe um espaço, proposto pela imagem, que permite que, para lá dela, o sujeito se possa projetar, e que existe como definição da imagem enquanto superfície e profundidade. Como contraponto, aproxima-se a situação das imagens à situação do corpo e, através desta comparação, defende-se que a importância e realidade do referente, como “coisa em si”, existe quando a imagem não consegue controlar o excesso que o referente é, tal como o corpo, quando não consegue controlar a carne, a torna visível. A imagem está para o corpo como o referente para a carne. As imagens de entes queridos, ou de atrocidades de guerra, são tidas como exemplo desta emergência do referente, como sintoma.

RESUMO Objetivo Analisar os efeitos de intervenção educativa no letramento em saúde e no conhecimento sobre diabetes em adultos atendidos na atenção primária à saúde. Método Trata-se de estudo quase-experimental com intervenção educativa durante a consulta de enfermagem, atividade em grupo e acompanhamento telefônico com 33 adultos diagnosticados com diabetes mellitus tipo 2, cadastrados em uma Unidade Estratégia Saúde da Família no Sul do Brasil. Aplicaram-se instrumentos sociodemográfico e clínico (Spoken Knowledge in Low Literacy Patients with Diabetes e Eight-Item Health Literacy Assessment Tool) antes e após a intervenção. Os dados foram analisados pelos testes de Wilcoxom, coeficiente de correlação de Spearman e McNemar. Resultados A maioria dos participantes eram mulheres (69,7%), com idade média de 57,0 anos, tempo de escolaridade inferior a nove anos (69,7%) e tempo de diagnóstico ≤10 anos (51,5%). Após a intervenção, obteve-se aumento do conhecimento sobre a diabetes (p = 0,001), correlacionado ao letramento em saúde (r = 0,494; p = 0,001) e ao tempo do diagnóstico (r = 0,455; p = 0,001). Conclusão e implicação para a prática A utilização de instrumentos para mensurar o letramento em saúde e o conhecimento sobre diabetes possibilitou a construção de estratégias educativas voltadas para as lacunas existentes, promovendo aumento do conhecimento, o qual favorece o desenvolvimento das habilidades para a autogestão.

ABSTRACT Objective To analyze the effects of educational intervention on health literacy and knowledge about diabetes in adults assisted in primary health care. Method This is a quasi-experimental study with educational intervention during the nursing consultation with 33 adults diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus registered in a Family Health Strategy Unit in southern Brazil and involving group activity and telephone follow-up. Sociodemographic and clinical instruments were applied before and after the intervention; these instruments included the Spoken Knowledge in Low Literacy Patients with Diabetes and the Eight-Item Health Literacy Assessment Tool. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon, Spearman, and McNemar correlation coefficient tests. Results Most participants were women (69.7%), with a mean age of 57.0 years, less than nine years of schooling (69.7%), and ≤10 years of diagnosis (51.5%). After the intervention, there was an increase in knowledge about diabetes (p = 0.001), correlated with health literacy (r = 0.494; p = 0.001) and the time of diagnosis (r = 0.455; p = 0.001). Conclusion and implications for practice The instruments to measure health literacy and knowledge about diabetes enabled the construction of educational strategies aimed at existing gaps, increasing the knowledge, thereby favoring the development of skills for self-management.

RESUMEN Objetivo Analizar los efectos de la intervención educativa sobre la alfabetización en salud y el conocimiento sobre diabetes en adultos tratados en la Atención Primaria de Salud. Método Se trata de un estudio cuasiexperimental, con intervención educativa, durante la consulta de enfermería en 33 adultos diagnosticados de Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 registrados en una Unidad de Estrategia de Salud Familiar en el sur de Brasil, con actividades grupales y seguimiento telefónico. Antes y después de la intervención, se aplicaron instrumentos sociodemográficos y clínicos: Spoken Knowledge in Low Literacy Patients with Diabetes and the Eight-Item Health Literacy Assessment Tool. Los datos se analizaron mediante las pruebas de coeficiente de correlación de Wilcoxom, Spearman y McNemar. Resultados La mayoría fueron mujeres (69,7%), con una edad media de 57,0 años, menos de nueve años de escolaridad (69,7%) y tiempo de diagnóstico ≤ 10 años (51,5%). Después de la intervención, hubo un aumento en el conocimiento sobre diabetes (p = 0,001), correlacionado con la alfabetización en salud (r = 0,494 p = 0,001) y el tiempo desde el diagnóstico (r = 0,455 p = 0,001). Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica El uso de instrumentos para medir la alfabetización en salud y el conocimiento sobre la diabetes permitieron la construcción de estrategias educativas orientadas a las brechas existentes, aumentando su conocimiento, lo que favorece el desarrollo de habilidades para el autocuidado.

Resumen El presente estudio evaluó el efecto de la inoculación de hongos micorrízicos arbuscu lares (AMF) en el crecimiento y la nutrición de plántulas de Euterpe edulis en ausencia y presencia de fertilización con fosfato. El experimento se realizó en invernadero. El diseño de bloques al azar, consistió en un arreglo factorial 3x2, con 4 repeticiones, dos dosis de fósforo (0 y 50 mg dm-3 de suelo), dos tratamientos microbiológicos (Rhizophagus clarus; Claroideoglomus etunicatum; R. clarus + C. etunicatum) y un testigo (sin hongos). La siembra y la inoculación ocurrieron simultáneamente en bolsas de plástico de 2 kg. Después de 226 días, se determinó altura, diámetro de cuello, área foliar, masa seca del brote, el contenido de macronutrientes y el porcentaje de colonización micorrízica. R. clarus resultó superior, considerándose entonces una especie fúngica beneficiosa para las plántulas de E. edulis. En ausencia de fertilización con fosfato, R. clarus y el inóculo mixto aumentaron todas las variables biométricas en comparación con el testigo. Además, se observó un aumento en el contenido de macronutrientes en las plántulas.

Abstract The present study evaluated the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) inoculation on growth and nutrition of Euterpe edulis seedlings, supplemented or not with phosphate fertilization. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse. The randomized block design, consisted of a 3x2 factorial arrangement and 4 replicates, with two phosphorus doses (0 and 50 mg dm-3 of soil), two microbiological treatments (Rhizophagus clarus; Claroideoglomus etunicatum; R. clarus + C. etunicatum) and control (without fungus). Sowing and inoculation occurred concurrently in 2 kg plastic bags. Height, collar diameter, leaf area, dry shoot mass, macronutrient content and mycorrhizal colonization percentage were determined after 226 days. Regarding mycorrhizal colonization percentage, R. clarus resulted significantly beneficial for the production of E. edulis seedlings. In the absence of phosphate fertilization, R. clarus and mixed inoculum increased all biometric variables and macronutrient contents in seedlings. Therefore, it is concluded that AMF inoculations provide beneficial effects for growth and nutrition of E. edulis seedlings, resulting in more vigorous plants at a low-cost strategy.

Resumo O potássio é um nutriente que afeta o crescimento e a qualidade dos frutos do abacaxizeiro. O estudo objetivou avaliar a qualidade de frutos em abacaxizeiro ‘Vitória’ submetido à aplicação de doses de potássio. O experimento foi realizado de maio de 2017 a novembro de 2018, em São Francisco do Itabapoana (RJ), Brasil. O delineamento foi em blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Os tratamentos foram cinco doses de K2O: 0; 6; 12; 18 e 24 g planta-1, aplicadas na forma de KCl, parceladas em duas aplicações, após a indução floral. As massas frescas do fruto e da coroa, os diâmetros do fruto e do cilindro central,os comprimentos do fruto e da coroa, a acidez titulável, os sólidos solúveis, a vitamina C, o pH do suco e a relação sólidos solúveis/acidez titulável foram avaliados. A adubação potássica promoveu maiores comprimento, diâmetro e massa de fruto. Os valores de acidez titulável, dos sólidos solúveis e da vitamina C aumentaram linearmente em função das doses de potássio. A adubação potássica promove a melhoria da qualidade dos frutos de abacaxizeiro ‘Vitória’ em condições de campo.

Abstract Potassium is a mineral nutrient that affects the growth and quality of pineapple fruits. This study aimed to evaluate the quality of ‘Vitória’ pineapple fruits submitted to application of potassium doses. The experiment was carried out from May 2017 to November 2018, in the municipality of São Francisco do Itabapoana (RJ), Brazil. The design was randomized blocks, with four replicates. Treatments were five K2O doses: 0; 6; 12; 18 and 24 g plant-1, applied as KCl, split into two applications after flower induction. Fruit and crown fresh masses, fruit and crown diameters, fruit and crown lengths, titratable acidity, soluble solids, vitamin C, juice pH and soluble solids/titratable acidity ratio were evaluated. Potassium fertilization promoted greater fruit length, diameter and mass. Titratable acidity, soluble solids and vitamin C values increased linearly as a function of potassium doses. Potassium fertilization improves the quality of ‘Vitória’ pineapple fruits under field conditions.

ABSTRACT Molybdenum (Mo) availability is strongly affected by soil pH, which determines the dynamics of electrical charges and the adsorption of molybdate. This study evaluated the effects of nitrogen (N) and Mo application on the chemical properties of a Latossolo Amarelo (Oxisol) and in Coffea canephora nutrition and productivity throughout two productive cycles under field conditions. The experiment was conducted from June 2018 to May 2020. The experimental design used was in randomized blocks, in a 2 × 5 factorial scheme, the first factor being the absence and presence (4 kg ha-1 yr-1) of molybdic fertilization and the second factor was the N dose (300, 500, 700, 900, and 1,100 kg ha-1 yr-1). At the end of each production cycle, soil samples were collected to evaluate the pH(H2O), pH(KCl), exchangeable aluminum, potential acidity, organic matter, and Mo, at layers of 0.00-0.20 and 0.20-0.40 m. Leaves were sampled from the coffee tree to determine Mo and N contents and the coffee beans were harvested to evaluate the yield of processed coffee. The results showed that urea has a high potential for soil acidification, influencing the values of exchangeable aluminum, potential acidity, and ∆pH, at layers of 0.00-0.20 and 0.20-0.40 m. The decrease in pH caused by increasing doses of N increased the density of positive electrical charges of the soil and reduced Mo content in the leaves of C. canephora by 67 %. The application of sodium molybdate via soil was efficient in providing Mo to Conilon coffee and provided a 3.7 % increase in the yield of processed coffee. Nevertheless, molybdic fertilization did not influence the Mo content in the soil in the evaluations carried out at the end of each production cycle.

ABSTRACT. To diagnose and monitor the nutritional status of commercial crops, reference standards must be established based on chemical analyses of soils and leaf tissues. Therefore, the objective of this study was to establish sufficiency ranges, DRIS standards and leaf nutritional diagnoses for palisade grass pastures in the rainy and dry seasons. Of a total of 105 sampled pastures, the 20 highest-yielding areas were used to establish reference standards. In the other, low-productivity pastures, the nutritional status was diagnosed in both the rainy and dry seasons for nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), potassium (K), calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), boron (B), copper (Cu), iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), molybdenum (Mo), and zinc (Zn). A productivity of 15 tons ha-1 year-1 was determined as the threshold to separate high-yielding (> 15 tons ha-1 year-1) pastures from low-productivity pastures (< 15 tons ha-1 year-1). Sufficiency ranges and foliar DRIS standards were established for palisade grass pastures in the rainy and dry seasons, which resulted in the recommendation of region- and season-specific sufficiency ranges and DRIS leaf standards. In the rainy season, in more than 50% of the evaluated pastures, nutritional deficiencies in all nutrients except K, B and Zn were observed, while in the dry season, only N, P, Cu, and Mn were deficient.

Resumo O artigo procura contextualizar o humano enquanto “ser dividido” - entre a totalidade e a falta; entre corpo e mente - e discutir a ideia de identidade contemporânea enquanto projeto. Utiliza a hipótese de Paul Ricoeur relativamente a uma possível “identidade narrativa”, feita da mesmeidade e da ipseidade, e associa a construção identitária à construção da aparência/ corpo. Para isso, analisa os percursos de construção dos sujeitos na contemporaneidade. Discute o trabalho do artista plástico Ugo Rondinone, na série I Don´t Live Here Anymore (série de fotografias em que o rosto do artista é adicionado a corpos de modelos, retirados das imagens que circulam nos media) enquanto possibilidade de metáfora acerca da procura de construção da identidade e aponta as possibilidades da imagem enquanto motor de busca permanente dessa construção identitária.

Abstract The article seeks to contextualize the human as a" divided being” - between the totality and the lack; between body and mind - and discuss the idea of contemporary identity as a project. It uses Paul Ricoeur's hypothesis regarding a possible "narrative identity", made of sameness and ipseity, and associates the construction of identity with the construction of appearance / body. For this, it analyzes the construction routes of the subjects in the contemporaneity. Discusses the work of the plastic artist Ugo Rondinone in the series I Don't Live Here Anymore (series of photographs in which the face of the artist is added to the bodies of models, taken from the images that circulate in the media) as a possibility of metaphor about the search of identity construction, and points out the possibilities of the image as a permanent search engine of this identity construction.

RESUMO O potássio (K) é um dos macronutrientes mais exigido pelos cultivos agrícolas sendo o cloreto de potássio a fonte mais utilizada. No entanto, esse fertilizante não é recomendado para diversas culturas devido ao seu alto teor de cloro promover perdas na qualidade do produto final, sendo substituído pelo sulfato de potássio. Objetivou-se neste trabalho avaliar a produção, os teores de macronutrientes, de óleos essenciais e de linalol em frutos de coentro submetidos a diferentes fontes e doses de potássio. O experimento foi realizado em casa de vegetação, em caixas de plásticos com capacidade de 46 kg, tendo uma mistura de solo com areia como substrato. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos ao acaso, em arranjo fatorial 2x4, sendo duas fontes de potássio (cloreto e sulfato de potássio) e quatro doses (50, 100, 150 e 200 mg de K/kg de substrato), com quatro repetições. As maiores produtividades de frutos, teor de fósforo e de enxofre nos frutos foram obtidos em plantas adubadas com K2SO4. A aplicação de doses crescentes de potássio, independente da fonte, resultou em aumento no teor de K, decréscimo nos teores de Ca e não afetou os teores de N e Mg nos frutos. A maior concentração de óleos essenciais nos frutos (0,15 g) e linalol nos óleos essenciais (0,42 mg), foram obtidas quando se aplicou, respectivamente, 153,8 e 131,3 mg de K/kg de substrato, utilizando-se K2SO4.

ABSTRACT Potassium (K) is one of the most required agricultural crop macronutrients, with potassium chloride being the most applied source. However, this fertilizer is not recommended for several crops due to its high chlorine content, promoting final product quality losses, thus being replaced by potassium sulphate. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the production and macronutrient, essential oil and linalool contents of coriander fruits submitted to different potassium sources and doses. The research was performed in a greenhouse, in plastic 46 kg boxes applying a mixture of soil and sand as substrate. The experimental design was of randomized blocks, applying a 2x4 factorial arrangement, with two potassium sources (potassium chloride and sulphate) at four doses (50, 100, 150 and 200 mg of K/kg substrate), performing four replicates. The highest fruit yields, and phosphorus and sulfur fruit contents were verified in plants fertilized with K2SO4. The application of increasing potassium doses, regardless of the source, resulted in increased K and decreased Ca contents and did not affect N and Mg fruit levels in the fruits. The highest essential oil concentration in fruits (0.15 g) and linalool in essential oils (0.42 mg) were verified when 153.8 and 131.3 mg of K/kg substrate using K2SO4 were applied, respectively.

RESUMO Este texto foi escrito a partir de uma entrevista com a ativista do Movimento pela Saúde dos Povos (MSP), Anne Caroline Wihbey, Irmã da Congregação Notre Dame de Namur, norte-americana de ascendência libanesa, com reconhecida trajetória no desenvolvimento social no estado do Maranhão. Aos 95 anos, camarada e amante de todas as lutas por dignidade e justiça, mantém-se ativamente firme, com o ‘pé na estrada’. Entre viagens rodoviárias Belém/São Luís/Belém, atualmente, está empenhada em organizar o seu arquivo pessoal sobre a história do MSP, em geral, e do Maranhão, em particular. Depois disso, costuma dizer ‘que pode desaparecer’. Sempre envolvida no trabalho de educação popular, sobre os malefícios resultantes dos megaprojetos junto à vida da população, reitera afirmativamente que saúde e meio ambiente não são mercadorias. Avante na ação mobilizadora, a Irmã segue ciente de sua idade avançada, congregando esforço em aceitar seus limites com alegria e determinação. Este artigo é baseado em conversas com Irmã Anne, que abordaram sua história, sua vinda dos Estados Unidos para o Brasil e a sua vinculação ao MSP desde os primórdios, além de relatar o seu trabalho para cultivar o MSP no Brasil, passando pela experiência de formação de grupos em Nina Rodrigues e em São Luís, no Maranhão, e de incentivo à construção do MSP em Belém do Pará.

ABSTRACT This text was written from the interview with People’s Health Movement (PHM) activist Anne Caroline Wihbey, Sister of the Notre Dame de Namur Congregation, an American woman of Lebanese ancestry, with a recognized trajectory in social development in the state of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil. At the age of 95, a comrade and lover of all struggles for dignity and justice, she stands firmly on the road. Between road trips Belém/São Luís and São Luís/Belém, currently, she is committed to organizing her personal archive on the history of PHM, in general, and in Maranhão, in particular. After doing that, she often says she ‘can disappear’. Always involved in the work of popular education, approaching the harms resulting from megaprojects in the life of the population, she reaffirms that health and environment are not commodities. Moving forward in the mobilizing action, Sister Anne continues to be aware of her advanced age, gathering effort to accept her limits with joy and determination. This article is based on conversations with Sister Anne, building a story about her history, her coming from the United States to Brazil and her connection to the PHM from the earliest days, as well as reporting her work to cultivate the PHM in Brazil, through the experience of forming groups in Nina Rodrigues and São Luís, in the state Maranhão, and encouraging the construction of the PHM in Belém, Pará.

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of acid pretreatment, temperature and enzyme concentration on the acid-enzymatic extraction of soluble collagen from chicken keel bone cartilage. A chemical composition analysis and protein profile characterization of this slaughter by-product were also conducted. The cartilages were extracted with 0.5 mol/L of acetic, lactic and citric acids for 24, 48 and 72 hours. Subsequently, optimization with a 22 factorial design was performed with three replications at the central point for a total of 7 experiments; the analyzed response was the collagen content of the obtained isolates. The cartilage under study has a high protein content (90.27% dry basis) consisting of approximately 35.7% collagen and is a source of essential and predominantly hydrophobic amino acids. Pretreatment with acetic acid for 24 hours led to greater extraction potential and consequently, a better collagen yield (30.12%). The electrophoretic profile of the obtained collagens revealed the existence of an α1 chain, indicating that this collagen was type II. Statistical analysis demonstrated that the acid-enzymatic procedure favored a temperature of 30 °C.

Resumo As coroas de frutos de abacaxi são muito pouco utilizadas como material de plantio no Brasil. No entanto, podem servir para a produção de mudas em situações de escassez de material de plantio de qualidade adequada. O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a produção e o estado nutricional de rebentos precoces de diferentes tamanhos produzidos em coroas de abacaxi com adubação nitrogenada bem como verificar as variáveis morfológicas e o estado nutricional das coroas de abacaxi da cv. Smooth Cayenne, após a extirpação do seu meristema apical. Ainda, avaliou-se o efeito de doses crescentes de adubo nitrogenado sobre o rendimento, vigor e qualidade nutricional das mudas. O delineamento experimental adotado foi o de blocos ao acaso em esquema fatorial 4x4, sendo quatro doses de nitrogênio (5, 10, 15 e 20 g de ureia por vaso), quatro comprimentos mínimos para colheita de rebentos (10, 15, 20 e 25 cm), com quatro repetições. Em condições de cultivo em pleno sol, as coroas produziram 18,11 e 6,83 rebentos com 10 e 25 cm de comprimento, respectivamente, até 380 dias após o plantio e extirpação do meristema apical. Os tamanhos de colheita dos rebentos influenciam sobre a massa seca da raiz e do caule das coroas. A adubação nitrogenada aumenta os teores de N e influencia negativamente os teores foliares de P, K, Ca e S das coroas do abacaxizeiro ‘Smooth Cayenne’.

Abstract Pineapple fruit crowns are rarely used as planting material in Brazil. However, they can be used to produce plantlet in situations of scarcity of planting material of adequate quality. The aim of this work was to evaluate the production and nutritional status of early shoots of different sizes produced from ‘Smooth Cayenne’ pineapple crowns with nitrogen fertilization after the removal of its apical meristem. The experimental design adopted was that of randomized blocks in a 4x4 factorial scheme, with four nitrogen doses (5, 10, 15 and 20 g of urea per pot), four minimum shoot lengths at harvesting (10, 15, 20 and 25 cm), with four replicates. Under full sun cultivation conditions, crowns produced 18.11 and 6.83 shoots with 10 and 25 cm in length, respectively, up to 380 days after planting and removal of the apical meristem. Pineapple shoots harvested at 180 days presented better biometric quality and can be harvested up to 380 days after crown planting. Increasing urea doses reduce P, K and Ca levels in the dry mass of shoots.

RESUMO Objetivos: avaliar o atributo “acesso de primeiro contato”, na perspectiva dos profissionais da Atenção Primária à Saúde. Métodos: estudo avaliativo e transversal, realizado no período de fevereiro a março de 2017. A amostra foi composta por 163 profissionais de saúde, de ambos os sexos, que trabalhavam na atenção básica do Município de Juazeiro do Norte, Ceará. O acesso de primeiro contato foi avaliado pelo instrumento Primary Care Assessment Tool (PCATool). Foi empregada a marca de 6,60 como ponto de corte para o atributo avaliado. Resultados: o acesso de primeiro contato alcançou escore de 3,3, denotando um baixo grau de orientação para a Atenção Primária à Saúde. Os profissionais enfermeiros foram os que avaliaram de modo mais negativo o atributo (p=3,2). Conclusões: o acesso de primeiro contato obteve baixo escore, apontando a fragilidade da Estratégia Saúde da Família como porta de entrada do Sistema Único de Saúde.

RESUMO Este texto foi escrito a partir de uma entrevista com a ativista do Movimento pela Saúde dos Povos (MSP), Anne Caroline Wihbey, Irmã da Congregação Notre Dame de Namur, norte-americana de ascendência libanesa, com reconhecida trajetória no desenvolvimento social no estado do Maranhão. Aos 95 anos, camarada e amante de todas as lutas por dignidade e justiça, mantém-se ativamente firme, com o ‘pé na estrada’. Entre viagens rodoviárias Belém/São Luís/Belém, atualmente, está empenhada em organizar o seu arquivo pessoal sobre a história do MSP, em geral, e do Maranhão, em particular. Depois disso, costuma dizer ‘que pode desaparecer’. Sempre envolvida no trabalho de educação popular, sobre os malefícios resultantes dos megaprojetos junto à vida da população, reitera afirmativamente que saúde e meio ambiente não são mercadorias. Avante na ação mobilizadora, a Irmã segue ciente de sua idade avançada, congregando esforço em aceitar seus limites com alegria e determinação. Este artigo é baseado em conversas com Irmã Anne, que abordaram sua história, sua vinda dos Estados Unidos para o Brasil e a sua vinculação ao MSP desde os primórdios, além de relatar o seu trabalho para cultivar o MSP no Brasil, passando pela experiência de formação de grupos em Nina Rodrigues e em São Luís, no Maranhão, e de incentivo à construção do MSP em Belém do Pará.

ABSTRACT This text was written from the interview with People’s Health Movement (PHM) activist Anne Caroline Wihbey, Sister of the Notre Dame de Namur Congregation, an American woman of Lebanese ancestry, with a recognized trajectory in social development in the state of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil. At the age of 95, a comrade and lover of all struggles for dignity and justice, she stands firmly on the road. Between road trips Belém/São Luís and São Luís/Belém, currently, she is committed to organizing her personal archive on the history of PHM, in general, and in Maranhão, in particular. After doing that, she often says she ‘can disappear’. Always involved in the work of popular education, approaching the harms resulting from megaprojects in the life of the population, she reaffirms that health and environment are not commodities. Moving forward in the mobilizing action, Sister Anne continues to be aware of her advanced age, gathering effort to accept her limits with joy and determination. This article is based on conversations with Sister Anne, building a story about her history, her coming from the United States to Brazil and her connection to the PHM from the earliest days, as well as reporting her work to cultivate the PHM in Brazil, through the experience of forming groups in Nina Rodrigues and São Luís, in the state Maranhão, and encouraging the construction of the PHM in Belém, Pará.
