RESUMO O joelho é uma das principais articulações do corpo humano e, em função de sua conformação e funcionalidade, é facilmente suscetível a lesões. A reconstrução cirúrgica de lesões ao redor do joelho e região proximal da perna representa um grande desafio devido à exposição de estruturas osteoarticulares, tendinomusculares e neurovasculares e tem sido realizada com uso de diversos retalhos musculares e musculocutâneos. Outros retalhos também são descritos para tratamento dessas lesões, embora em menor frequência na literatura, como o retalho cutâneo baseado no pedículo da artéria genicular lateral superior. A seguir, é apresentado o relato de cinco casos de pacientes vítimas de acidentes motociclísticos nos quais realizou-se a cobertura da lesão ao redor do joelho e região proximal da perna com o uso do retalho cutâneo baseado no pedículo da artéria genicular lateral superior, nos quais foram obtidos uma boa cobertura das lesões, alta taxa de sobrevida do retalho, bons resultados clínicos e estéticos. ABSTRACT The knee is one of the main joints in the human body, and due to its conformation and functionality, it is easily susceptible to injuries. Surgical reconstruction of injuries around the knee and proximal region of the leg represents a major challenge due to the exposure of osteoarticular, tendinomuscular and neurovascular structures and has been performed using various muscle and musculocutaneous flaps. Other flaps are also described for treating these lesions, although less frequently in the literature, such as the cutaneous flap based on the pedicle of the superior lateral genicular artery. Next, It presents a report of five cases of patients who were victims of motorcycle accidents in which the lesion was covered around the knee and proximal region of the leg using a skin flap based on the pedicle of the superior lateral genicular artery, in which good coverage of lesions, high flap survival rate, good clinical and aesthetic results. Abstract Objective: To evaluate the use of nanosilver fluoride in the enamel remineralization process through optical coherence tomography. Material and Methods: All samples were submitted to demineralization process by pH cycling during 14 days and randomly distributed into three groups (n = 11): Nanosilver Fluoride (NSF), Sodium fluoride (NaF), and negative control. Optical coherence tomography images were acquired at three different moments: initial stage (T0), post caries formation (T1), and post pH cycling (T2). The integrity of the enamel surface and the measurement of the volume loss for the tissue after pH cycling in comparison to initial images were obtained from optical coherence tomography images. Results: After analyzing the exponential decay of A-scans from each group, it was possible to identify differences in light propagation among samples. In T1 it is not possible to visualize the dentin-enamel junction, probably due to the higher back scattering of the demineralized enamel, which does not allow light to reach the dentin. The decay curves obtained from NaF and nanosilver fluoride groups showed similar behavior, while the negative group showed lower extinction coefficient. Conclusion: Nanosilver fluoride showed the best effect against caries compared to conventional fluoride treatments.

ABSTRACT: RFID is an automatic contactless identification method based on radio frequency (RF). The reading process depends of the power of electromagnetic signal received by a tag. Thus an accurate characterization of RFID tags is crucial for early adopter in aerospace industry. The present study shows the preliminary approach to characterize the reading distance for UHF RFID passive tag from the low-cost application test deployment.

This paper presenting as contribution a model for the evaluation, control, and improvement of airport safety by analyzing different operational events. This model is based on multicriteria methods, in particular, the entropy and TOPSIS methods. It allows to operationalize the evaluation of the airport ramp safety performance in contexts of scarce information about the weights of each criterion, and where the absence of personal judgments in the weighting process is considered important. Operational events were used to develop the criteria. In addition, an application was conducted and the data from airport ramp safety events were used to identify trends, diagnose problems, support the planning of actions, and provide a basis for allocating resources for prevention of catastrophic accidents and improvement of safety. This application was used to validate the model. It was concluded that the airport ramp safety did not maintain a trend of continuous improvement and the proposed model allowed the identification of trends, of criteria with low performance, and the realization of recommendations for improvinge airport safety.

Este trabajo se presenta como contribución a un modelo para la evaluación, el control y la mejora de la seguridad del aeropuerto mediante el análisis de diferentes eventos operacionales. Este modelo se basa en métodos multicriterio, en particular, los métodos de entropía y TOPSIS. Permite hacer operativa la evaluación del rendimiento de seguridad de la rampa del aeropuerto en contextos de escasa información acerca de la ponderación relativa de cada criterio y en donde se considera importante la ausencia de juicios personales en el proceso de ponderación. Se utilizaron los eventos operacionales para desarrollar los criterios. Además, se llevó a cabo una aplicación y se utilizaron los datos de los eventos de seguridad de la rampa del aeropuerto para identificar tendencias, diagnosticar problemas, apoyar la planificación de acciones y proporcionar una base para la asignación de recursos para la prevención de accidentes catastróficos y mejora de la seguridad. Esta aplicación se utilizó para validar el modelo. Se concluyó que la seguridad de la rampa del aeropuerto no mantuvo una tendencia de mejora continua y que el modelo propuesto permitió la identificación de tendencias, de criterios con bajo rendimiento y la realización de recomendaciones para mejorar la seguridad de los aeropuertos.

A fauna edáfica, pela sua diversidade e magnitude das funções que realiza no ambiente solo, pode refletir o estado de funcionamento dos ecossistemas. Neste sentido, este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a atividade, composição estrutural e diversidade da comunidade da fauna do solo, em diferentes estádios sucessionais da Mata Atlântica, em Pinheiral - RJ. Para tanto, foram estudadas três áreas de Floresta Estacional Semidecidual Submontana em diferentes estádios sucessionais: Floresta em Estádio Inicial (FEI), Floresta em Estádio Médio (FEM) e Floresta em Estádio Avançado (FEA). Em cada área foi demarcada uma parcela de 30 m x 30 m. Para captura dos organismos epígeos da mesofauna e macrofauna, utilizaram-se armadilhas do tipo "pitfall-traps", sendo distribuídas, aleatoriamente, 10 armadilhas em cada área. Foram realizadas amostragens em abril e agosto de 2009. A atividade dos organismos (ind arm-1 dia-1) e os índices ecológicos de riqueza e equidade de Pielou foram calculados a partir da quantificação e identificação dos indivíduos amostrados. A partir da análise dos resultados, contatou-se que o mês de agosto, caracterizado com maior precipitação, influiu diretamente na atividade, composição estrutural e diversidade da fauna do solo. A estrutura populacional foi influenciada pelos estádios sucessionais, sendo que a atividade dos grupos Acari, Araneae, Diptera, Formicidae, Hymenoptera e Isopoda aumentou em função do avanço sucessional. A atividade total e o índice de riqueza média também responderam ao processo de sucessão. O grupo Entomobryomorpha foi o mais abundante em todas as áreas, sendo o responsável pelas variações do índice de Pielou. De maneira geral, verificaram-se maiores valores da atividade dos grupos, atividade total e riqueza média na FEA, e menores na FEI, confirmando, assim, o potencial uso desses organismos como indicadores da dinâmica sucessional em florestas secundárias.

The soil fauna, for its diversity and magnitude of the tasks that it carries out in the soil environment, may reflect the state of the ecosystem functioning. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the activity, the structural composition and the diversity of soil fauna community in different successional stages of Atlantic forest, in Pinheiral, RJ state. Thus, three areas of lower montane semi-deciduous forest in different succession stages were studied: Forest in initial stage (FIS), Forest in intermediate stage (FINS) and Forest in advanced stage (FAS). In each area, it was demarcated a plot of 30 m x 30 m. To capture the epigean organisms, mesofauna and macrofauna, 'pitfall-traps' were used, being distributed, randomly, 10 traps in each area. The samples were taken in April and August 2009. The activity of organisms (arm ind-1 day-1) and ecological index of the richness and evenness were calculated from the quantification and identification of individuals sampled. From the analysis of the results, it was noticed that August featured higher precipitation and directly influenced the activity, structural composition and diversity of soil fauna. The population structure was influenced by successional stages, and group activity Acari, Araneae, Diptera, Formicidae, Hymenoptera and Isopoda increased with advancing succession. Total activity and average wealth index also responded to the advancement of vegetation. The group Entomobryomorpha was the most abundant in all areas, being responsible for the variations of the index of evenness. In general, there were higher values of group activity, total activity and average wealth in FAS, and lower the FIS, thus confirming the potential use of these organisms as indicators of successional dynamics of secondary forests.

Este trabalho propõe uma abordagem para a obtenção de um índice global de segurança operacional em pistas aeroportuárias, através da análise de eventos de segurança. Nela ponderam-se os eventos de forma proporcional aos riscos à segurança deles resultantes. A partir da classificação de risco de cada evento, utiliza-se o método Borda para a obtenção de pesos e o método Promethee II para o cálculo de um índice global de segurança. Esta abordagem foi aplicada no Aeroporto Internacional de São Paulo/Guarulhos. Os resultados indicam quedas similares de 3,5% em relação à média no nível de segurança global nos anos 3 e 4. No período mais recente os desempenhos unicriteriais foram positivos em 7 dos 10 critérios avaliados, apresentando queda de 37%, 41% e 17% em relação à média nos indicadores de colisões de aeronaves, colisões de propriedades e danos causados por objetos estranhos respectivamente. Por fim, foram recomendadas ações para elevar os níveis de segurança do sistema aeroportuário. A ponderação com o método Borda foi considerada consistente e o índice global, obtido com o método Promethee II, foi considerado representativo do nível de segurança atingido no sistema aeroportuário.

This study developed a model for the evaluation, control and improvement of airport safety by analyzing operational incidents. Considering the multidimensional feature of this evaluation, a model based on multicriteria Borda and Promethee methods was proposed. The operational incidents were used in the development of criteria and the weighting of each of them was carried out in proportion to the respective safety risk. Moreover, its application was performed at an airport in order to identify trends, diagnose problems and support action planning and provide a basis for allocating resources for prevention and mitigation of safety hazards. This application was used to analyze the validity of the model, and conclusions about their efficiency and applicability were obtained.

A análise da competição em sistemas de múltiplos aeroportos representa um tema bastante discutido na literatura, em função de sua importância para o planejamento aeroportuário e das companhias aéreas. Faz-se necessário compreender o conjunto de atributos de nível de serviço considerados pelo usuário de transporte aéreo no momento da decisão por um aeroporto, a fim de capturar e prever o seu comportamento diante de alternativas. Em geral, o tempo de acesso ao aeroporto, a frequência de voo e a tarifa representam as variáveis determinantes da escolha aeroportuária, mas com diferentes graus de importância relativa, dependendo da região e do cluster analisado. Assim, este trabalho tem o objetivo de analisar a evolução de estudos que visam simular a escolha do passageiro em regiões de múltiplos aeroportos, abordando as diferenças das principais metodologias empregadas e dos resultados obtidos.

The analysis of multi-airport systems' competition is a topic widely discussed in the literature due to its importance for airports and airlines planning. It's necessary to understand the set of attributes of level of service considered by the air transportation user at the time of airport choice in order to capture and predict his behavior when dealing with alternative. In general, access time to the airport, flight frequency and price represent the determinants variables of airport choice, but with different degrees of relative importance, depending on the region and the cluster in analysis. Thus, this work intend to analyze the evolution of studies designed to simulate the passenger's choice in multi-airport regions, addressing the differences between main methods used and results obtained.

Este trabalho apresenta um modelo de otimização-simulação aplicado em um estudo de caso real no setor de cilindros para laminação de uma siderúrgica, buscando melhorar o gerenciamento da área/equipamento gargalo da linha de produção. A simulação atuou em conjunto com um modelo de otimização da programação linear inteira (PLI) para melhorar o atendimento de prazo junto aos clientes em uma produção não seriada. Como resultado deste procedimento combinado da PLI e simulação, o processo produtivo foi otimizado e as filas de espera e o lead-time foram reduzidos, melhorando o atendimento aos clientes.

This article presents a simulation-optimization model application for a real case study in the rolling mill roll sector of a steel plant. The purpose of this study was to get a better area/equipment bottleneck management in the production line. The simulation was used together with an ILP (Integer Linear Programming) optimization model, in order to improve customer service in a made-to-order production. As a result of this ILP and Simulation combined approach, the productive process was optimized and both queues and lead-time were reduced, improving customer service.
