RESUMEN Introducción: La colocación de sondas pleurales es un procedimiento quirúrgico frecuente que puede tener graves complicaciones, las cuales dependen en la mayoría de los casos de la experiencia del operador, el tamaño del tubo y el uso de imágenes para guiar la inserción. Objetivo: Describir las principales lesiones esplácnicas provocadas durante la inserción de sondas pleurales y presentar algoritmos para el diagnóstico precoz y el tratamiento oportuno de estas iatrogenias. Métodos: Se realizó una revisión descriptiva narrativa durante el primer trimestre del año 2023. Se utilizaron las bases de datos electrónicas PubMed, LILACS, EBSCO y Cochrane. Se revisaron artículos publicados desde 1984 hasta el 2022. Se procuró que la mayoría de la información se enmarcara en un período no mayor de 10 años de antigüedad. Desarrollo: De las lesiones esplácnicas de la cavidad torácica, la de pulmón es la más frecuente y puede conducir a sangrado o fuga aérea persistente. Las lesiones vasculares son graves y pueden provocar la muerte si no se toman las medidas pertinentes. Se han descrito lesiones de órganos huecos de la cavidad abdominal que suelen ser parte de una hernia diafragmática. Dentro de las lesiones esplácnicas en el abdomen más frecuentes están la hepática y la esplénica. Conclusiones: Estas lesiones son prevenibles y se debe tener en cuenta su mecanismo de producción para evitarlas. Para este fin recomendamos una selección cuidadosa del sitio de inserción, realizar una confirmación adecuada de la posición de la sonda, manipularla cuidadosamente y monitorear constantemente al paciente.

ABSTRACT Introduction: Chest tube insertion is a frequent surgical procedure that can have serious complications, which depend mostly on the practitioner’s experience, the tube’s size and the use of imaging to guide the insertion. Objective: To describe the main splanchnic injuries caused during chest tube insertion, as well as to present algorithms for early diagnosis and timely treatment of these types of iatrogeny. Methods: A descriptive narrative review was performed during the first quarter of the year 2023. The electronic databases PubMed, LILACS, EBSCO and Cochrane were used. Articles published from 1984 to 2022 were reviewed. Most of the information was secured to be framed within a period of no more than 10 years. Development: Among the splanchnic injuries within the thoracic cavity, lung injury is the most frequent and may lead to bleeding or persistent air leak. Vascular injuries are severe and can lead to death if appropriate measures are not taken. Injuries to hollow organs of the abdominal cavity have been described to be usually part of a diaphragmatic hernia. Among the most frequent splanchnic lesions within the abdomen are the hepatic and splenic injuries. Conclusions: These lesions are preventable and their mechanism of production should be taken into account in order to avoid them. To achieve this, we recommend that the insertion site be carefully selected and that the tube’s position be adequately confirmed, as well as the careful handling of the tube and the constant monitoring of the patient.

Abstract Covid 19 forced a move to virtuality, acquiring a relevant role the use of virtual media such as digital wallets, to avoid interruptions in the economic exchange. The objective was to determine the impact of the inclusion of the use of mobile wallets as a means of payment, from the perspective of business owners of formal retail businesses in the province of Ica, during the year 2021. A sample of 385 entrepreneurs applied a questionnaire elaborated on some of the factors that measure the level of technology adoption. 64.9% of retail entrepreneurs had a positive attitude towards the use of mobile wallets, 57% are satisfied with their use, and recognize that it is an efficient and effective system. Mobile wallets are currently the alternative to advance towards global financial inclusion, where low-income people, located in underdeveloped areas, can opt to carry out their economic transactions.

Resumen El Covid 19 obligó un traslado a la virtualidad adquiriendo un papel relevante el uso de medios virtuales como las billeteras digitales, para evitar interrupciones en el intercambio económico. Se planteó como objetivo, determinar el impacto de la inclusión del uso de las billeteras móviles como medios de pago, desde la perspectiva de empresarios dueños de negocios minoristas formales de la provincia de Ica, durante el año 2021. Una muestra de 385 empresarios aplicó un cuestionario elaborado sobre algunos de los factores que miden el nivel de adopción a la tecnología. El 64,9 % de los empresarios minoristas presentaron una actitud positiva frente al uso de las billeteras móviles, el 57 % se considera satisfecho con su uso, reconoce que se trata de un sistema eficiente y eficaz. Las billeteras móviles son actualmente la alternativa para avanzar hacia la inclusión financiera global, donde personas de bajos ingresos, ubicadas en zonas poco desarrolladas, pueden optar para realizar sus transacciones económicas.

Resumen Introducción y objetivo. Prevenir la condritis es un pilar importante en el tratamiento de las quemaduras del pabellón auricular teniendo en cuenta que, en la actualidad, no existe un protocolo de manejo frente a esta patología y sus posteriores complicaciones. El presente estudio pretende analizar la literatura disponible acerca del manejo de las quemaduras auriculares y comparar el uso de membrana amniótica frente a la cura oclusiva en un grupo de pacientes con quemadura en pabellón auricular para prevenir la deformidad de oreja en coliflor como secuela. Material y método. Revisión de la literatura sobre las diversas formas de tratamiento de las quemaduras auriculares y estudio en un grupo de pacientes de la Unidad de Quemados de la Subred Integrada de Servicios en Salud Norte E.S.E. UHMES Simón Bolívar de Bogotá, D.C., Colombia, con quemaduras en pabellones auriculares a los que se les aplicó membrana amniótica para cubrir las lesiones con el fin de disminuir el riesgo de condritis y la consecuente deformidad en coliflor, entre otras complicaciones. Resultados. De la revisión de la literatura obtenemos una comparativa del uso de tratamientos conservadores frente a quirúrgicos y en el estudio sobre pacientes tratados con membrana amniótica observamos una importante disminución en la respuesta inflamatoria local, dolor, frecuencia de curaciones y por lo tanto, menor estancia hospitalaria. Conclusiones. Nuestro trabajo aporta revisión bibliográfica y experiencia propia comparativa de interés para la prevención de la condritis postquemadura auricular y contribuye a protocolizar el tratamiento de este tipo de lesiones a fin de evitar sus secuelas.

Abstract Background and objective. Preventing chondritis is an important pillar in the treatment of burns of the auricular pavilion because, currently, there is no management protocol for this pathology and its subsequent complications. The present study aims to analyze the available literature on the management of auricular burns, and to compare the use of amniotic membrane versus occlusive treatment in a group of patients with burns in the auricular pavilion to prevent cauliflower ear. Methods. Literature review of the different ways of treatment for ear burns and study in a group of patients from the Burn Unit of the Integrated Subred of Health Services North E.S.E. Simón Bolívar (UHMES) from Bogotá D.C Colombia, with burns on the auricular pavilion to which amniotic membrane was applied to cover up the injuries in order to reduce the risk of chondritis and the consequent cauliflower deformity, among other complications. Results. From the literature review, we obtain a comparison between the use of conservative treatments versus surgical procedures and, in the study of patients treated with amniotic membrane, we observed a significant decrease in the local inflammatory response, pain, frequency of wound healing, and therefore, shorter hospital stay. Conclusions. Our study provides a bibliographic review and our own comparative experience, both of interest for the prevention of post-auricular burn chondritis and contributes to create protocols for treatment of this type of injury in order to avoid its sequelae.

RESUMEN Las plantas de algodón transgénicas (Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bt)) han influido significativamente en el manejo integrado de plagas en todo el mundo. En Colombia, Anthonomus grandis Boheman y el complejo Spodoptera son considerados actualmente las principales plagas en los cultivos de algodón. Por lo tanto, este estudio evaluó el efecto del algodón Bt (Cry1Ac y Cry2Ab) y no Bt en la fluctuación poblacional durante dos años en la región del Tolima. Se realizó una matriz de correlación de Pearson entre las variables plaga y rendimiento, mientras que las variables climáticas y las poblaciones de insectos fueron correlacionadas en cuatro estados fenológicos con la correlación de rangos de Spearman. Adicionalmente, se realizó un análisis factorial para datos mixtos con el fin de comparar el efecto de los genotipos sobre la fluctuación poblacional de los insectos. Para A. grandis, no se presentaron diferencias en sus poblaciones. Sin embargo, en rendimiento, las plantas de algodón no Bt mostraron una mayor correlación inversa con las cápsulas perforadas en comparación con el algodón Bt. Con relación al complejo Spodoptera, el genotipo Bt tuvo un 67,4% menos de larvas en comparación con el algodón no Bt. Se presentaron diferencias estadísticamente significativas. Sin embargo, no hubo ausencia total de la plaga durante todo el ciclo del cultivo. Estos resultados sugieren que, si en el área de estudio no se fijan zonas de refugio y prácticas de manejo de plagas, el complejo Spodoptera podría generar resistencia a plantas genéticamente modificadas.

ABSTRACT Transgenic cotton plants (Bacillus thuringiensis Berliner (Bt)) has significant influenced the integrated pest management around the world. In Colombia, Anthonomus grandis Boheman and Spodoptera complex are currently considered the main pests in cotton crops. Therefore, this study evaluated the effect of Bt (Cry1Ac and Cry2Ab) and non-Bt cotton on the population fluctuation during two years in Tolima region. A Pearson correlation matrix was carried out between the pest variables and yield, while climatic variables and insect populations were correlated in four phenological stages with Spearman rank correlations. Additionally, a factor analysis for mixed data was performed in order to compare the effect of genotypes on the population fluctuation of the insects. For A. grandis, no differences in their populations were presented. However, in yield non-Bt cotton plants showed a higher inverse correlation with the perforated bolls compared to Bt cotton. In relation to the Spodoptera complex, the Bt genotype had 67.4% fewer larvae compared to non-Bt cotton. Statistically significant differences were presented. However, there was not a total absence of the pest during the entire crop cycle. These results suggest that if refuge zones and pest management practices are not determined in the study area, Spodoptera complex could generate resistance to genetically modified plants.

Abstract: Background and Aims: There are seven native bamboo species in the Huasteca Potosina (HP), but the richness of introduced species is unknown. For both groups there is no record of the ecosystem services (ES) they provide. Therefore, the objectives of the study were to record the presence of introduced bamboo species in the HP and to identify the ES of native and introduced species. Methods: Botanical explorations were carried out to visit all the municipalities of the study area; 57 botanical collections were made. In order to know the ES of native and introduced species, observations were made in the field, especially in localities where bamboo is grown and used, and we interviewed 31 key informants. Key results: In addition to the seven native bamboo species in the HP there are 11 introduced taxa (ten species and one variety), all of which are woody culms. Eight species and one variety are native to Asia, one to South America, and one introduced from the state of Veracruz, Mexico. The most widely distributed introduced species are Bambusa vulgaris, B. vulgaris var. vittata and B. oldhamii. The main use of woody bamboo is for construction and the native species most used for this is Guadua velutina. The introduced species are produced for decoration, living fence and construction. Conclusions: In the HP there are 44 ha of commercial bamboo plantations, together with the native species they provide three ES and five uses. The results of this work are the basis for future research on the ES of bamboo in the HP. It is necessary to continue monitoring commercial plantations, since they are increasing; in addition to evaluating the effects of different management practices in plantations and potential uses, especially of native species.

Resumen: Antecedentes y Objetivos: En la Huasteca Potosina (HP) existen siete especies nativas de bambú, pero se desconoce la riqueza de especies introducidas. De ambos grupos se carece del registro de los servicios ecosistémicos (SE) que proporcionan. Por ello, los objetivos del estudio fueron registrar la presencia de las especies introducidas de bambú en la HP e identificar los SE de las especies nativas e introducidas. Métodos: Se efectuaron exploraciones botánicas para visitar todos los municipios del área de estudio; se realizaron 57 recolectas botánicas. Para el registro de los SE de las especies nativas e introducidas se hicieron observaciones en campo, se visitaron comunidades en donde se cultiva y utiliza el bambú y se realizaron 31 entrevistas a informantes clave. Resultados clave: Además de las siete especies nativas de bambú en la HP, existen 11 taxones (diez especies y una variedad) introducidos, todos estos de culmos leñosos. Ocho especies y la variedad son nativas de Asia, una lo es de Sudamérica y otra introducida del estado de Veracruz, México. Las especies introducidas con mayor distribución son Bambusa vulgaris, B. vulgaris var. vittata y B. oldhamii. El principal uso del bambú leñoso es para la construcción y la especie nativa más utilizada para ello es Guadua velutina. Las especies introducidas son producidas para ornato, cerco vivo y construcción. Conclusiones: En la HP hay 44 ha de plantaciones comerciales de bambú; junto con las especies nativas proporcionan tres SE y cinco usos. Los resultados de este trabajo son la base para futuras investigaciones sobre los servicios ecosistémicos del bambú en la HP. Es necesario continuar con el monitoreo de plantaciones comerciales, ya que van en aumento; además de evaluación de los efectos de diferentes prácticas de manejo en plantaciones y usos potenciales, sobre todo de especies nativas.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar na literatura contribuições da Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem e dos Conselhos Federal e Regionais de Enfermagem para a profissionalização da enfermagem à luz das concepções teóricas de Eliot Freidson. Métodos: Revisão integrativa, de interesse histórico socioprofissional, realizada de junho a novembro de 2021, mediante a questão: Como as entidades de classe contribuíram para a profissionalização da enfermagem brasileira de acordo com a literatura de 2010 a 2020? Organizaram-se as evidências em quadro sinótico, que possibilitou a construção de mapa conceitual. Resultados: Nos 23 estudos selecionados, as entidades de classe apresentaram contribuições científicas, sociais e políticas, que conformam o campo profissional da enfermagem, possibilitando conhecimento/expertise, autonomia e autorregulação. Considerações finais: Os esforços dessas entidades reafirmam a enfermagem como profissão acadêmica e de consulta, capaz de exercer controle sobre a essência do trabalho da enfermagem. Elas se empenham em consolidar a enfermagem como legítimo campo profissional da saúde no Brasil.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the contributions of the Brazilian Nursing Association and the Federal and Regional Nursing Councils in the literature for the professionalization of nursing in the light of Eliot Freidson’s theoretical conceptions. Methods: Integrative review of the literature, of socio-professional historical interest, carried out from June to November 2021, through the question: How did professional associations contribute to the professionalization of Brazilian nursing according to the literature from 2010 to 2020? The evidence were organized in a synoptic table, which allowed the construction of a conceptual map. Results: In the 23 selected studies, the professional associations presented scientific, social and political contributions, which shape the professional field of nursing, enabling knowledge/expertise, autonomy and self-regulation. Final considerations: The efforts of these institutions reaffirm nursing as an academic and consulting profession, capable of exerting control over the essence of nursing work. They strive to consolidate nursing as a legitimate professional field of health in Brazil.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar las contribuciones de la Asociación Brasileña de Enfermería y de los Consejos Federales y Regionales de Enfermería a la profesionalización de la enfermería bajo la luz de las concepciones teóricas de Eliot Freidson Métodos: Se trata de una revisión integradora, de interés histórico socio profesional, realizada de junio a noviembre de 2021, mediante la pregunta: ¿Cómo han contribuido las entidades de clase con la profesionalización de la enfermería brasileña según la literatura de 2010 a 2020? Las pruebas se organizaron en un cuadro sinóptico que permitió construir un mapa conceptual. Resultados: En los 23 estudios seleccionados, las entidades de clase presentaron contribuciones científicas, sociales y políticas, que forman el campo profesional de la enfermería y facilitan el conocimiento, la experticia, la autonomía y la autorregulación. Consideraciones finales: Las entidades reafirman que la enfermería es una profesión académica y de consulta, capaz de ejercer el control sobre la esencia del trabajo en sí y perseveran para consolidarla como un campo profesional legítimo en el Brasil.

Abstract Piper nigrum (black pepper) is used in Indian traditional medicine and its main alkaloid, Piperine (PIP), presents antioxidant, antitumor and neuroprotective pharmacological properties. This substance is insoluble in aqueous media and can irritate the gastrointestinal tract. Aiming to avoid these inconvenient characteristics and enable PIP oral administration, this study suggested the PIP microencapsulation through the emulsion-solvent evaporation method and the preparation of microparticulated tablets by direct compression. An UV-spectroscopy method was validated to quantify PIP. Microparticles and microparticulated tablets were successfully obtained and the microparticles exhibited excellent flow. The scanning electron microscopy images showed that PIP microparticles were intact after compression. The in vitro release showed a controlled release of PIP from microparticles and PIP microparticles from tablets in comparison to PIP and PIP tablets. The release profiles of PIP microparticles and the microparticulated tablets were similar. Therefore, tablets containing PIP microparticles are promising multiparticulated dosage forms because a tablet allows microparticles administration and the intact ones promote a controlled release, decreasing its irritating potential on the mucosa.

Abstract Background The diagnosis of cognitive disorders in Parkinson disease (PD) can be very challenging. Aiming at establishing uniform and reliable diagnostic procedures, the International Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) commissioned task forces to delineate diagnostic criteria for mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia in PD. Objectives To investigate the applicability of the MDS recommendations for cognitive evaluation in a Brazilian sample of patients with PD with low levels of formal education. Methods A total of 41 patients with PD were subjected to a comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation based on tests proposed by the MDS, which included the Mini-Mental State Examination, the Mattis Dementia Rating Scale (MDRS), the Trail Making Test (TMT) parts A and B, in addition to language and memory skills assessment. Neuropsychiatric and daily functioning features were also evaluated. Spearman correlation analyses were used to evaluate the association between the scores obtained in the cognitive scales and demographic/clinical variables. Results Although none of the participants had a formal diagnosis of dementia, 50% presented some degree of cognitive impairment when considering the results of the MDRS. Of note, a noticeable number of patients was not able to complete the full neuropsychological assessment. The TMT part B was the most difficult task, being completed by only 22 participants (54%). As expected, the greater the educational level, the better the performance on the cognitive tests. Better motor function was also associated with better scores in cognition. Conclusions Adopting strict inclusion/exclusion criteria and a comprehensive clinical evaluation, we found remarkable limitations for the MDS recommendations when individuals with low educational levels are considered. A revision of the current guidelines is necessary considering differences among populations, especially related to formal education.

Resumo Antecedentes O diagnóstico de distúrbios cognitivos na doença de Parkinson (DP) pode ser muito desafiador. Com o objetivo de estabelecer procedimentos diagnósticos uniformes e confiáveis, a Sociedade Internacional da Doença de Parkinson e Distúrbios do Movimento (MDS, na sigla em inglês) encomendou forças-tarefa para delinear critérios diagnósticos para comprometimento cognitivo leve (CCL) e demência na DP. Objetivos Investigar a aplicabilidade das recomendações da MDS para avaliação cognitiva em uma amostra brasileira de pacientes com DP de baixa escolaridade. Métodos Um total de 41 pacientes com DP foram submetidos a uma avaliação neuropsicológica abrangente com base nos testes propostos pela MDS, que incluiu o Miniexame do Estado Mental, a Escala de Avaliação de Demência de Mattis (MDRS, na sigla em inglês), o teste de trilhas (TMT, na sigla em inglês) partes A e B, além da avaliação das habilidades de linguagem e memória. Características neuropsiquiátricas e de funcionamento diário também foram avaliadas. Análises de correlação de Spearman foram utilizadas para avaliar a associação entre os escores obtidos nas escalas cognitivas e variáveis demográficas/clínicas. Resultados Apesar de nenhum dos participantes ter diagnóstico formal de demência, 50% apresentaram algum grau de comprometimento cognitivo ao levar em consideração os resultados da MDRS. Vale ressaltar que um número notável de pacientes não conseguiu completar a avaliação neuropsicológica completa. A parte B do TMT foi a tarefa mais difícil, sendo realizada por apenas 22 participantes (54%). Como esperado, quanto maior o nível educacional, melhor o desempenho nos testes cognitivos. Melhor função motora também foi associada a melhores escores em cognição. Conclusões Adotando critérios rígidos de inclusão/exclusão e uma avaliação clínica abrangente, encontramos limitações marcantes para as recomendações da MDS quando considerados indivíduos com baixa escolaridade. É necessária uma revisão das diretrizes atuais considerando as diferenças entre as populações, principalmente relacionadas ao nível educacional.

ABSTRACT Introduction: despite being extremely effective in some cases, up to 70% of patients with melanoma do not respond to anti-PD-1/PD-L1 (primary resistance) and many of the responders eventually progress (secondary resistance). Extensive efforts are being made to overcome this resistance through new strategies, especially aimed at modulating the intestinal microbiota. Objective: to assess whether fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), associated with immunotherapy, is beneficial in the clinical course of patients with refractory melanoma. Methods: this is a scope review, based on studies collected on the MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, The Cochrane Library, Embase and BMJ Journals; using the terms: “Antibodies, Monoclonal”; “Drug Resistance, Neoplasm”; “Fecal Microbiota Transplantation”; “Host Microbial Interactions”; “Immunotherapy”; “Melanoma”; and “Microbiota”. Clinical trials, in English, with relevant data on the subject and fully available were included. A cut-off period was not determined, due to the limited amount of evidence on the topic. Results: crossing the descriptors allowed the identification of 342 publications and, after applying the eligibility criteria, allowed the selection of 4 studies. From the analyses, it was observed that a considerable part of those studied overcame resistance to immune checkpoint inhibitors after FMT, with better response to treatment, less tumor growth and increased beneficial immune response. Conclusion: it is noted that FMT favors the response of melanoma to immunotherapy, translated into significant clinical benefit. However, further studies are necessary for the complete elucidation of the bacteria and the mechanisms involved, as well as for the translation of new evidence to oncological care practice.

RESUMO Introdução: apesar de extremamente eficaz em alguns casos, até 70% dos pacientes com melanoma não respondem aos anti-PD-1/PD-L1 (resistência primária) e muitos dos respondedores, eventualmente, acabam progredindo (resistência secundária). Extensos esforços estão sendo realizados para superar esta resistência através de novas estratégias, sobretudo, visando a modulação da microbiota intestinal. Objetivo: avaliar se o transplante de microbiota fecal (TMF), associado à imunoterapia, é benéfico no curso clínico do paciente com melanoma refratário. Métodos: trata-se de uma revisão de escopo, baseada em estudos coletados nas plataformas MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, The Cochrane Library, Embase e BMJ Journals; utilizando os descritores: “Antibodies, Monoclonal”; “Drug Resistance, Neoplasm”; “Fecal Microbiota Transplantation”; “Host Microbial Interactions”; “Immunotherapy”; “Melanoma”; e “Microbiota”. Foram incluídos ensaios clínicos, na língua inglesa, com dados relevantes sobre a temática e disponíveis integralmente. Não foi determinado um período de corte temporal, devido à quantidade limitada de evidências sobre o tema. Resultados: o cruzamento dos descritores permitiu a identificação de 342 publicações e, após a aplicação dos critérios de elegibilidade, permitiu a seleção de 4 estudos. A partir das análises, observou-se que grande parte dos estudados superaram a resistência aos inibidores do checkpoint imunológico pós-TMF, com melhor resposta ao tratamento, menor crescimento tumoral e aumento da resposta imunológica benéfica. Conclusão: nota-se que o TMF favorece a resposta do melanoma à imunoterapia, traduzido por benefício clínico significativo. Entretanto, novos estudos são necessários para a completa elucidação das bactérias e mecanismos envolvidos, bem como para que haja a translação das novas evidências para a prática assistencial oncológica.

ABSTRACT Sporotrichosis is the most frequent subcutaneous mycosis in Latin America. It is caused by species of the genus Sporothrix. Infection in humans occurs through the entry of the fungus into the skin. Zoonotic outbreaks involving cats in the transmission of the disease have been frequently reported. The lymphocutaneous form is the most commonly observed and the upper limbs are the most affected sites. We report a case of a 64-year-old healthy female patient with a lymphocutaneous form with rapid progression of lesions, which was refractory to initial treatment with itraconazole. Treatment with liposomal amphotericin B was performed with a satisfactory resolution, but aesthetic and functional sequelae in the left upper limb were installed.

Abstract Objective To characterize the digital proficiency of nurse students about the history of Brazilian nursing class institutions. Methods Exploratory-descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out in the Nursing bachelor’s degree from three campuses of a federal public higher education institution in northeastern Brazil. We applied, from November 2020 to May, a questionnaire via Google Forms to nurse students regularly registered in the second and third periods of the course. We carried out statistical, descriptive, and inferential analyses. Results 56 nurse students participated in the study, of which 55.64% were from campus 1; 53.6% attended the third semester, 83.9% were female; average age of 20.55 (+3.32) years old; 55.4 were brown; 94.6% with no employment relationship; 73.2% living with their parents; 92.9% with a monthly family income of three minimum wages. We considered the average degree of basic digital proficiency low. Regarding the digital technologies in teaching and the learning about the class institutions’ history, 62.5% believed that it contributed to the learning process, besides the classroom space and it eased the access to content, and 78.6% considered it important to develop a critical-reflexive sense and the awareness about the participation of these institutions. They found it fundamental to know the creation history, contributions, struggles, challenges, and first directors of the Brazilian Nursing Association, besides the creation of the Nursing Federal and Regional Councils and the respective attributions. Conclusion The teaching-learning process mediated by digital technologies needs to consider the digital competencies and students’ interest in remote teaching about the nursing class institutions’ history.

Resumen Objetivo Caracterizar la competencia digital y el aprendizaje de estudiantes de enfermería sobre la historia de las asociaciones profesionales en la enfermería brasileña. Métodos Estudio exploratorio descriptivo, transversal, realizado en la carrera de licenciatura en enfermería, en tres campi de una institución de enseñanza superior pública federal del nordeste brasileño. De noviembre de 2020 a mayo de 2021, se aplicó un cuestionario por Google Forms a los estudiantes de enfermería regularmente matriculados en el segundo y tercer semestre de la carrera. Se realizó un análisis estadístico descriptivo e inferencial. Resultados Participaron 56 estudiantes de enfermería, el 55,4 % estaba vinculado al campus 1; el 53,6 % del tercer semestre; el 83,9 % de sexo femenino; promedio de edad de 20,55 (+3,32) años; el 55,4 % pardo; el 94,6 % sin vínculo laboral; el 73,2 % vive con sus padres; el 92,9 % con ingresos familiares mensuales equivalentes a tres salarios mínimos. El nivel de competencia digital básica promedio fue considerado bajo. En lo que se refiere a las tecnologías digitales en la enseñanza y al aprendizaje sobre historia de las asociaciones profesionales, el 62,5 % consideró que contribuiría para el aprendizaje, más allá del aula, y facilitaría el acceso a los contenidos; el 78,6 % lo consideró importante para desarrollar el sentido crítico-reflexivo y para concientizar sobre la participación en esas asociaciones. Consideraron fundamental conocer la historia de la creación, las contribuciones, las luchas, los desafíos y las primeras directoras de la Asociación Brasileña de Enfermería, además de la creación del Consejo Federal y los Consejos Regionales de Enfermería y sus respectivas atribuciones. Conclusión Las acciones de enseñanza-aprendizaje, mediadas por tecnologías digitales, deben considerar las competencias digitales y los intereses de los estudiantes en el aprendizaje remoto sobre historia de las asociaciones profesionales de enfermería.

Quanto às tecnologias digitais no ensino e à aprendizagem sobre história das entidades de classe, 62,5% acreditaram que contribuiria para aprendizagem, além do espaço da sala de aula, e facilitaria o acesso aos conteúdos; e 78,6% consideraram importante para desenvolver o senso crítico-reflexivo e a conscientização sobre a participação nessas entidades. Evidenciaram fundamental conhecer história da criação, contribuições, lutas, desafios e primeiras diretoras da Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem, além da criação dos Conselhos Federal e Regionais de Enfermagem e das respectivas atribuições. Conclusão As ações de ensino-aprendizagem, mediadas por tecnologias digitais, precisam considerar as competências digitais e os interesses dos estudantes na aprendizagem remota sobre história das entidades de classe da enfermagem.

Abstract Objective To investigate the clinicopathological significance and prognosis of the expression of the anterior gradient 3 (AGR3) protein in women with breast cancer. Data Sources The PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science databases were searched for studies published in English and without restrictions regarding the year of publication. The search terms were: breast cancer AND anterior gradient 3 OR AGR3 expression. Study Selection We included observational or interventional studies, studies on AGR3 protein expression by immunohistochemistry, and studies on invasive breast cancer. Case reports, studies with animals, and reviews were excluded. In total, 4 studies were included, containing 713 cases of breast cancer. Data Collection Data were extracted on clinicopathological characteristics and survival. A meta-analysis of the prevalence of AGR3 expression was performed according to the clinicopathological characteristics, hazard ratios (HRs), and overall survival and disease-free survival. Data Synthesis The expression of AGR3 was found in 62% of the cases, and it was associated with histological grade II, positivity of estrogen and progesterone receptors, low expression of ki67, recurrence or distant metastasis, and lumen subtypes. In patients with low and intermediate histological grades, AGR3 expression was associated with worse overall survival (HR: 2.39; 95% confidence interval [95%CI]: 0.628–4.159; p= 0.008) and worse disease-free survival (HR: 3.856; 95%CI: 1.026–6.686; p= 0.008). Conclusion The AGR3 protein may be a biomarker for the early detection of breast cancer and predict prognosis in luminal subtypes. In addition, in patients with low and intermediate histological grades, AGR3 protein expression may indicate an unfavorable prognosis in relation to survival.

Resumo Objetivo Investigar o significado clinicopatológico e prognóstico da expressão da proteína anterior gradient 3 (AGR3) em mulheres com câncer de mama. Fontes de Dados Utilizamos as bases de dados PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, Scopus e Web of Science para pesquisar estudos em inglês, sem restrições quanto ao ano de publicação. Os termos buscados foram: breast cancer AND anterior gradient 3 OR AGR3 expression. Seleção dos Estudos Foram incluídos estudos observacionais ou intervencionais, estudos sobre a expressão da proteína AGR3 por imuno-histoquímica, e estudos sobre câncer de mama invasivo. Excluíram-se relatos de casos, estudos com animais e revisões. Quatro estudos foram selecionados, que continham 713 casos de câncer de mama. Coleta de Dados Foram extraídos dados relativos a características clinicopatológicas e sobrevida. A metanálise da prevalência da expressão de AGR3 foi realizada conforme as características clinicopatológicas, razões de risco (RRs) e sobrevida global (SG) e sobrevida livre de doença (SLD). Síntese dos Dados Encontrou-se expressão de AGR3 em 62% dos casos, que se associou com grau histológico II, positividade de receptores de estrogênio e progesterona, baixa expressão de ki67, recorrência ou metástase à distância e subtipos luminais. Em pacientes com graus histológicos baixo e intermediário, a expressão de AGR3 conferiu pior SG (RR: 2,39; intervalo de confiança de 95% [IC95%]: 0,628–4,159; p= 0,008) e pior SLD (RR: 3,856; IC95%: 1,026–6,686; p= 0,008). Conclusão A AGR3 pode ser um biomarcador para a detecção precoce do câncer de mama e predizer o prognóstico em subtipos luminais. Em graus histológicos baixo e intermediário, a expressão da proteína AGR3 pode indicar um prognóstico desfavorável em relação à sobrevida.

Abstract This study aimed to evaluate the contribution of oral and maxillofacial pathology laboratories (OMPLs) in Brazilian public universities to the diagnosis of lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). A cross-sectional study was performed using biopsy records from a consortium of sixteen public OMPLs from all regions of Brazil (North, Northeast, Central-West, Southeast, and South). Clinical and demographic data of patients diagnosed with lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCC between 2010 and 2019 were collected from the patients’ histopathological records. Of the 120,010 oral and maxillofacial biopsies (2010-2019), 6.9% (8,321 cases) were diagnosed as lip (0.8%, 951 cases), oral cavity (4.9%, 5,971 cases), and oropharyngeal (1.2%, 1,399 cases) SCCs. Most cases were from Brazil’s Southeast (64.5%), where six of the OMPLs analyzed are located. The predominant profile of patients with lip and oral cavity SCC was Caucasian men, with a mean age over 60 years, low schooling level, and a previous history of heavy tobacco consumption. In the oropharyngeal group, the majority were non-Caucasian men, with a mean age under 60 years, had a low education level, and were former/current tobacco and alcohol users. According to data from the Brazilian National Cancer Institute, approximately 9.9% of the total lip, oral cavity, and oropharyngeal SCCs reported over the last decade in Brazil may have been diagnosed at the OMPLs included in the current study. Therefore, this data confirms the contribution of public OMPLs with respect to the important diagnostic support they provide to the oral healthcare services extended by the Brazilian Public Health System.

Abstract Objectives: investigate whether prenatal characteristics were associated with dietary pattern of pregnant women. Methods: we studied 200 high-risk pregnant women in Fortaleza, Ceará. The identification of dietary patterns was performed through principal component analysis with the orthogonal Varimax rotation. Poisson regression was used to estimate prevalence ratios (PR) and respective confidence intervals (CI95%). Results: three major dietary patterns were identified: ‘common Brazilian’, ‘healthy’ and ‘energy-dense’. After adjustments conducted with multivariate analysis, pregnant women who had not received dietary guidance in prenatal consultations (34%) were less likely to adhere to the ‘healthy’ pattern (PR = 0,81; CI95%= 0,67-0,95). Pregnant women who attended an appropriate number of consultations (≥ 6 consultations) (41%) showed greater adherence to the ‘healthy’ pattern (PR = 1,15; CI95%= 1,01-1,32) and lower adherence to the ‘energy-dense’ pattern (PR = 0,85; CI95%= 0,74-0,99). Conclusion: it was observed that the high-risk pregnant women who attended an adequate number of consultations during the prenatal care had a higher chance to adhere to the ‘healthy’ pattern and a lower chance to adhere to the ‘energy-dense’ pattern. Not receiving guidelines on prenatal nutrition was inversely associated with the healthy pattern. Thus, the importance of high-risk pregnant women undergoing an appropriate prenatal care is reinforced.

Resumo Objetivos: investigar o efeito potencial das características de acompanhamento do pré-natal em padrões alimentares identificados em gestantes de alto risco. Métodos: foram estudadas 200 gestantes de alto-risco de Fortaleza, Ceará. Os padrões alimentares foram identificados pela análise de componentes principais seguida de rotação ortogonal Varimax. Utilizou-se Regressão de Poisson para estimar as razões de prevalência (RP) e os intervalos de confança (IC95%). Resultados: três padrões alimentares foram identificados: ‘comum brasileiro’, ‘saudável’ e ‘denso em energia’. Após a realização de ajuste com análise multivariada, as gestantes que não receberam orientação sobre alimentação nas consultas do pré-natal (34%) apresentaram menores chances de adesão ao padrão ‘saudável’ (RP = 0.81, IC95%= 0.67-0.95). Aquelas que realizaram um número de consultas adequado (≥ 6 consultas) (41%) apresentaram maior adesão ao padrão ‘saudável’ (RP = 1.15, IC95%= 1.01-1.32) e menor adesão ao padrão ‘denso em energia’ (RP = 0.85, IC95%= 0.74-0.99). Conclusão: observou-se que as gestantes de alto risco que compareceram a um número adequado de consultas no pré-natal tiveram maior chance de aderir ao padrão ‘saudável’ e menor chance de aderir ao padrão ‘denso em energia’. Não receber orientações sobre nutrição durante o pré-natal foi inversamente associado ao padrão ‘saudável’. Reforçando a importância das gestantes de alto risco realizarem um pré-natal adequado.
