Resumo Objetivo: Analisar a associação entre posição social e acesso aos serviços de saúde. Métodos: Estudo transversal em unidades da rede básica de saúde de Salvador, Bahia, Brasil, onde foi implementado um plano para melhorar a acessibilidade. Empregou-se teste qui-quadrado de Pearson e regressão logística. Resultados: Participaram 467 usuários, dos quais 75,6% não concluíram o ensino médio, 78,7% tinham renda inferior a dois salários mínimos e 51,8% exerciam ocupações intermediárias/qualificadas. Renda baixa associou-se a chegar na unidade de saúde na noite anterior ou antes das 8h (odds ratio = 2,09 - IC95% 1,13;3,87) e dispender mais tempo para marcar consulta (odds ratio = 2,13 - IC95% 1,05;4,31). Ocupação elementar associou-se ao agendamento presencial da consulta (odds ratio = 1,68 - IC95% 1,14;2,45). Escolaridade e trajetória social não mostraram associação significante com utilização de serviços de saúde. Conclusão: Permaneceram desigualdades sociais no acesso aos serviços após intervenção para melhoria da acessibilidade.

Conclusion: Social inequalities in access to health services remained after the intervention to improve accessibility.

RESUMO A ferrugem da videira, uma das doenças mais importantes de Vitis spp., é manejada no Brasil seguindo um programa de calendário de pulverização de fungicidas. Apesar da utilização de fungicidas, as perdas de produção e qualidade das uvas devido à ferrugem da videira são elevadas. A doença causa queda de folhas, tamanho e cor desigual de bagas e perda de vigor das plantas para a próxima safra. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar a relação entre a dispersão de urediniósporos presente no ar e os parâmetros meteorológicos, para fins de manejo da doença. Para tanto, monitorou-se vinhedos com a cultivar Syrah, suscetível a ferrugem da videira, para determinar a dinâmica de dispersão aérea de Phakopsora euvitis. As armadilhas tipo cata-vento foram mantidas a 0,5 m acima do dossel da videira e as amostras coletadas a cada 24 h, com troca de lâminas as 09h 00min. As médias horárias da temperatura do ar, velocidade do vento, umidade relativa e precipitação foram também registradas. Modelo de regressão logística foi desenvolvido para estimar a probabilidade de dispersão de urediniósporos. As maiores concentrações de urediniósporos foram observadas entre abril e agosto, enquanto nos demais meses a concentração foi baixa ou zero. O modelo de regressão da concentração de urediniósporos disperso no ar em relação aos parâmetros climáticos foi descrito por logit (y) = 15,6668–0,6333(temperatura)+0,4291(velocidade do vento), e o limiar de decisão de valor 0,47 foi determinado para fins de previsão.

ABSTRACT Grape rust, one of the most important diseases of Vitis spp., is managed in Brazil according to a calendar-based fungicide spray program. Despite the use of fungicides, the crop and the quality of grapes have shown significant losses due to rust. This disease causes leaf fall, unequal size and color of berries and loss in plant vigor in the following harvest. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between airborne urediniospore dispersal and weather parameters to improve the management of this disease. Thus, vineyards of the cultivar ‘Syrah’, susceptible to grape rust, were monitored to determine Phakopsora euvitis airborne dispersal dynamic. Wind vane spore traps were maintained at 0.5 m above the grapevine canopy and samples were collected every 24 h, while slides were changed at 9:00 a.m. A logistic regression model was developed to estimate the urediniospore dispersal probability. Higher urediniospore concentrations were observed between April and August, while in the remaining months the concentration was low or zero. The regression model of the airborne urediniospore concentration relative to the weather parameters was described as logit (Y) = 15.6668 - 0.6333 (temperature) + 0.4291 (wind speed), and a decision threshold of 0.47 was determined for predictive purposes.

O desconforto térmico no interior de instalações é um dos fatores responsáveis pela baixa produtividade de caprinos no Nordeste, pois condições climáticas inadequadas podem acarretar elevação da temperatura retal, aumento da frequência respiratória, diminuição da ingestão de alimentos e redução da produção. Com o presente trabalho, objetivou-se estudar as variáveis fisiológicas de termorregulação dos animais (frequência respiratória - FR e temperatura retal - TR) em quatro horários do dia (8; 11; 14 e 17 horas) e sua relação com os índices bioclimáticos (índice de temperatura e umidade - ITU, índice de temperatura de globo e umidade - ITGU e carga térmica radiante - CTR), a fim de determinar se o tipo de cobertura utilizado na instalação dos animais (cobertura cerâmica - CC, cobertura de fibrocimento - CF e cobertura de palha - CP) interfere na fisiologia de termorregulação. O horário de registro de dados teve relação com os valores das variáveis ambientais e fisiológicas. Às 14 horas, encontraram-se os valores mais elevados de carga térmica radiante nos três tipos de cobertura. Os valores de TR e FR foram maiores às 11 horas e 14 horas, sendo que a cobertura de palha proporcionou melhores condições térmicas do microclima aos animais. O aumento da FR manteve a homeotermia dos caprinos.

Thermal discomfort inside facilities is one of the factors responsible for low productivity of caprines in the Brazilian Northeast region, because inadequate weather conditions can cause elevated rectal temperature, increased respiratory rate, decreased food ingestion and reduced production. The present paper aimed to study the behavior of physiological thermoregulation of the animals (respiratory rate - RR and rectal temperature - RT) at four different times of the day (8 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.) and their relation to bioclimatic indexes (Temperature Humidity Index - THI, Black Globe Humidity Index - BGHI and Radiant Heat Load - RHL) in order to determine whether the type of covering used in the animals facilities (ceramic covering - CC, asbestos cement covering - AC and straw covering - SC) interferes with the physiology of thermoregulation. The time of data collection was related to the values of environmental and physiological variables. At 2 p.m. it was found the highest values of Radiant Heat Load on the three types of covering. The values of RT and RR were higher at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and the straw tile provided better thermal conditions of microclimate for the animals. The increased RR maintained the caprines homeothermy.

O Streptoverticillium sp. Z1 é um actinomiceto isolado do solo sob vegetação de Cerrado, o extrato desta cepa foi avaliado em modelos de nocicepção e inflamação. O extrato de Streptoverticillium (ExS) 50 e 100 mg/kg (s.c.) produziu uma inibição significativa das contorções abdominais induzidas por ácido acético, demonstrando um efeito anti-nociceptivo. No teste de flexão de cauda o ExS (s.c.) foi inativo, demonstrando que ExS não contem compostos do tipo opióides com propriedade analgésica central. Nos modelos inflamatórios, ExS 100 e 200 mg/kg (s.c.) foram capazes de inibir o edema induzido por óleo de cróton e, ExS 200 e 500 mg/kg (s.c.) inibiram a migração leucocitária na peritonite induzida por carragenina. O ensaio enzimático da atividade da fosfolipase A2 mostrou que a atividade antiinflamatória de ExS não é devido a inibição direta da atividades desta enzima. Estes resultados sugerem que Streptoverticillium sp. produz metabólitos com efeito antiinflamatório e que estes metabólitos são incapazes de inibir diretamente a enzima fosfolipase A2.

The Streptoverticillium sp. Z1 is an actinomycete isolated from the soil under Cerrado vegetation, the extract of this strain was investigated in nociceptive and inflammatory models. The Streptoverticillium extract (ExS) 50 and 100 mg/kg (s.c.) produced a significant inhibition of acetic acid-induced abdominal writhings thereby demonstrating an anti-nociceptive effect. In the tail flick test the ExS (s.c.) was inactive. This result implited that ExS does not contain opioid-like compounds with central analgesic properties. In the inflammatory models, ExS 100 and 200 mg/kg (s.c.) were able to inhibit the croton oil-induced ear edema and, ExS 200 and 500 mg/kg (s.c.) inhibited the leukocyte migration on the carrageenan-induced peritonitis. The phospholipase A2 enzymatic assay showed that the anti-inflammatory activity of ExS was not due to direct effect on phospholipase A2 activity. These data suggest that Streptoverticillium sp. produces metabolites with anti-inflammatory effect and that these metabolites are unable to directly inhibit phospholipase A2 enzyme.

Foram utilizadas 30 vacas gestantes da raça Canchim, mantidas em sistema de pastejo rotativo intensivo de capim-marandu, que receberam suplemento alimentar para manutenção de peso corporal durante a estação seca. Para avaliar as recomendações do Agricultural and Food Research Council, quanto ao fornecimento de substrato dietético para o crescimento da microbiota ruminal, os animais foram distribuídos em um delineamento inteiramente ao acaso (três tratamentos x dez repetições), de acordo com os seguintes tratamentos: controle (sem restrição do requerimento microbiano de proteína degradável e energia fermentável); restrição do requerimento microbiano de proteína degradável; e restrição do requerimento microbiano de energia metabolizável fermentável. Os suplementos foram compostos com silagem de milho, milho moído e soja integral, cujas quantidades predeterminadas foram fornecidas aos animais diariamente às 10 h. O período de avaliação teve duração de 192 dias, durante o qual foram efetuadas pesagens dos animais no início/término de cada um dos quatro subperíodos experimentais estabelecidos. A avaliação dos resultados indicou que não houve diferença no desempenho dos animais que receberam os diferentes suplementos com médias de ganho de peso corporal de 0,18; 0,02; e 0,12 kg/cab/dia para os respectivos tratamentos descritos. Concluiu-se que a limitação do crescimento da microbiota ruminal por meio da redução dos aportes de energia fermentável ou proteína degradável não interferiu no desempenho de vacas Canchim durante o período seco.

Thirty pregnant Canchim cows were maintained in a rotational grazing system of Marandu grass and received supplemental feed to body weight maintenance during the dry season. With the aim to evaluate the Agricultural and Food Research Council recommendations about supplying dietary substrate to ruminal microbial growth, the animals were allotted to a completely randomized design (3 treatments x 10 replications), according to the following treatments: control (without restriction of microbial requirements of degradable protein and fermentable energy); restriction of microbial requirement of degradable protein; and restriction of microbial requirement of fermentable metabolizable energy. The supplements were composed of corn silage, corn ground and whole soybean, in which determinate amounts were fed daily to animals at 10 a.m. The evaluation period lasted 192 days and the animals were weighed at beginning/end of each one of four experimental subperiods established. The evaluated results indicated that there were no differences on performance of the animals of different treatments with body weight gain of 0.18, 0.02, and 0.12 kg/head/day in respective treatments described. It was concluded that the limitation of ruminal microbial growth through reducing of fermentable energy and degradable protein supplies did not affect the performance of Canchim cows during the dry season.

Human localized cutaneous leishmaniasis (LCL), induced by Leishmania braziliensis, ranges from a clinically mild, self-healing disease with localized cutaneous lesions to severe forms which can present secondary metastatic lesions. The T cell-mediated immune response is extremely important to define the outcome of the disease; however, the underlying mechanisms involved are not fully understood. A flow cytometric analysis of incorporation of 7-amino actinomycin D and CD4+ or CD8+ T cell surface phenotyping was used to determine whether different frequencies of early apoptosis or accidental cell death occur at different stages of LCL lesions. When all cells obtained from a biopsy sample were analyzed, larger numbers of early apoptotic and dead cells were observed in lesions from patients with active disease (mean = 39.5 ± 2.7%) as compared with lesions undergoing spontaneous healing (mean = 17.8 ± 2.2%). Cells displaying normal viability patterns obtained from active LCL lesions showed higher numbers of early apoptotic events among CD8+ than among CD4+ T cells (mean = 28.5 ± 3.8 and 15.3 ± 3.0%, respectively). The higher frequency of cell death events in CD8+ T cells from patients with LCL may be associated with an active form of the disease. In addition, low frequencies of early apoptotic events among the CD8+ T cells were observed in two patients with self-healing lesions. Although the number of patients in the latter group was small, it is possible to speculate that, during the immune response, differences in apoptotic events in CD4+ and CD8+ T cell subsets could be responsible for controlling the CD4/CD8 ratio, thus leading to healing or maintenance of disease.

Patients with American cutaneous leishmaniasis were studied before therapy (active lesion) and at the end of therapy (cured patients). Assays of lymphocyte proliferative responses of peripheral blood mononuclear cells induced in vitro by Leishmania braziliensis promastigote antigens (Lb) were performed. Antigen-stimulated cells were harvested for CD4 and CD8 phenotype analysis and the levels of gamma interferon (IFN-<FONT FACE="Symbol">g</font>) and interleukin 4 (IL-4) produced were also determined in the culture supernatants. Two different patterns of Lb-induced T cell responses were observed: a) predominance of responding CD4+ cells and mixed type 1 and type 2 cytokine production (IFN-<FONT FACE="Symbol">g</font> and IL-4) during the active disease, and b) similar proportions of responding CD4+ and CD8+ cells, and type 1 cytokine production (presence of IFN-<FONT FACE="Symbol">g</font> and very low IL-4) at the end of therapy (healed lesions). This last pattern is probably associated with a beneficial T cell response
