O girassol é uma oleaginosa de destaque entre as culturas utilizadas em sucessão à soja na região dos cerrados. No entanto, poucas informações referentes aos efeitos da atividade residual de herbicidas aplicados na soja sobre o desenvolvimento e rendimento do girassol são conhecidas. Visando avaliar a atividade residual de herbicidas, aplicados em pré e pós-emergência na cultura da soja sobre o girassol cultivado em sucessão, foram conduzidos ensaios em campo e em casa de vegetação. No ensaio de campo, foram empregados nove tratamentos (doses em kg de i.a. ha-1): imazaquin (0,161), diclosulam (0,035), sulfentrazone (0,600) e flumioxazin (0,050), em aplicações de pré-emergência, e chlorimuron-ethyl (0,015), imazethapyr (0,060), imazethapyr (0,100) e fomesafen (0,250), aplicados em pós-emergência da soja, mais uma testemunha (sem herbicida). Um bioensaio foi conduzido em casa de vegetação com as amostras de solo dos tratamentos coletadas em seis épocas distintas (0, 35, 70, 105, 140 e 200 dias após a aplicação). Os resultados permitem concluir que o imazethapyr (0,100kg ha-1) e o diclosulam (0,035kg ha-1) causam redução no rendimento do girassol. A sensibilidade ao diclosulam perdura durante todo o cultivo do girassol.

The sunflower is a oilseed crop kind of prominence before the cultures used in succession in the Brazil. However, little information concerning the effects of residual activity of herbicides on the crop in this region are known. The aim of this study was to evaluate the residual activity of herbicides in weed management in pre and post-emergence soybean and evaluate its effects on sunflower crop in succession. In field experiments we adopted the randomized block design with four replications, being appointed nine treatments (kg of i.a. ha-1): imazaquin (0.161), diclosulan (0.035), sulfentrazone (0.600) and flumioxazin (0.050) in pre emergence applications, and chlorimuron-ethyl (0.015), imazethapyr (0.060), imazethapyr (0.100) and fomesafen (0.250) applied post emergence soybean and a control without herbicide. One bioassay was differentiated by the treatments contained in each treatment and soil samples collected at six different times (0, 35, 70, 105, 140 and 200 days after application); evaluated the dry matter accumulation of sunflower plants as a function of time of sample collection. The results showed that: imazethapyr (0.1kg ha-1) and diclosulan (0.035kg ha-1) caused a reduction in sunflower yield. Sensitivity to diclosulan continued throughout the interval evaluation of the range of bioassay.

A aplicação de biorreguladores tem sido empregada com a finalidade de aumentar o desempenho de culturas de interesse econômico. Com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da aplicação de diferentes doses de biorregulador via tratamentos de sementes em cultivares de cebola, foi conduzido um experimento com três cultivares de cebola ('Baia Periforme', 'Bola Precoce' e 'Híbrida Superex') e seis doses de biorregulador (0; 2,5; 5,0; 10,0; 20,0 e 30,0 mL kg-1 de sementes), acrescido de três testemunhas. O delineamento foi o inteiramente casualizado, com quatro repetições e os tratamentos arranjados em esquema fatorial (3 x 6 + 3). Os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância (p < 0,05) e, posteriormente, aplicou-se o teste de Dunnett para comparar os tratamentos de sementes com as testemunhas, assim como a análise de regressão, com o intuito de obter curvas de resposta, em função do acréscimo nas doses do biorregulador. As sementes foram avaliadas pela primeira contagem e contagem final do teste de germinação e comprimento da raiz primária e da parte aérea das plântulas. A aplicação do biorregulador não foi satisfatória ao processo de germinação das sementes e desempenho das plântulas das cultivares 'Baia Periforme' e 'Bola Precoce'. Entretanto, para a 'Híbrida Superex', o biorregulador estimulou o vigor inicial das plântulas.

Application of bio-regulators improves the productivity of cash crops. Current experiment evaluates the effects of different doses of a bio-regulator on the seed quality of three onion cultivars ('Baia Periforme', 'Bola Precoce' and 'Híbrida Superex'). Six doses of bio-regulator at 0, 2.5, 5.0, 10.0, 20.0 and 30.0 mL kg-1 were applied and results were compared to those of three controls. The experimental design was entirely randomized under the factorial arrangement 3 x 6 + 3, with four replications. Data were subjected to analysis of variance (p < 0.05), and all seed treatments were compared with controls by Dunnett's test. The analysis of regression described the effects of the increasing doses of bio-regulator on germination and vigor responses which were evaluated by the first count of the germination test, the percentage of germination and the length of the roots and shoots of the normal seedlings. The application of the bio-regulator did not improve the percentage of seed germination and no positive response of the seedlings was reported from the cultivars 'Baia Periforme' and 'Bola Precoce'. However, seedling vigor of 'Híbrida Superex' was positively affected by the application of the bio-regulator.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a seletividade do herbicida atrazine para a cultura do milheto (Pennisetum glaucum). O ensaio foi implantado em vasos com capacidade de 10 dm-3 de solo, em condições de casa de vegetação em delineamento inteiramente casualizado, por meio do esquema fatorial 5 x 3 com quatro repetições, correspondendo a cinco doses de atrazine: 0; 0,5; 1,5; 2,5 e 4,0 kg ha-1, aplicadas em três estádios de crescimento do milheto (duas, quatro e oito folhas expandidas) cultivar ADR-300. Foram avaliados os níveis de fitotoxicidade aos 7 e 21 dias após a aplicação, altura das plantas, biomassa seca da parte aérea e massa das espigas. Maiores sintomas de fitointoxicação seguido de redução no acúmulo de biomassa seca foram obtidos em aplicações realizadas nos estádios mais precoces da cultura e se intensificaram com o incremento da dose do herbicida. Em relação à massa da espiga, doses inferiores a 1,5 kg ha-1 de atrazine apresentaram maior flexibilidade quanto ao estádio de aplicação, podendo ser utilizadas de forma segura visando o manejo de plantas daninhas no cultivar ADR-300.

The aim of this study was evaluate the selectivity of the herbicide atrazine to the culture of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum). The test was implemented in units of 10 dm-3 of soil under conditions of a greenhouse in a completely randomized design in factorial scheme 5 x 3 with four replicates, corresponding to five dose of atrazine: 0; 0.5; 1.5; 2.5 and (4.0 kg i.a. ha-1), applied in three stages of growth of pearl millet (two, four and eight expanded leave), cultivar ADR-300. We evaluated the levels of phytotoxicity at 7; 14 and 21 days after application, plant height, dry mass and mass of spike. The major symptoms of phytotoxicity, reducing the number of tillers and dry biomass were obtained from applications made in the early stages of culture and intensified with increasing dose of atrazine. With respect to the mass of spike, doses below 1.5 kg ha-1 of atrazine showed greater flexibility in the application stage and can be used safely view the management of weeds in ADR-300.

Este trabalho teve por objetivo estimar a eficácia do controle de plantas daninhas na cultura do milho (Zea mays L.), cultivado em sistema plantio direto, em região de Cerrado, por meio da aplicação, em pré-emergência, de herbicidas. Foram realizados dois ensaios, no município de Montevidiu (GO), durante a safra 2007/2008, dispostos em delineamento de blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições. Foram avaliados os seguintes tratamentos: atrazine (1.600 g ha-1), atrazine + s-metolachor (1.665 g ha-1 + 1.305 g ha-1), s-metolachor (1.680 g ha-1), atrazine + simazine (250 g ha-1 + 250 g ha-1) e testemunha com e sem a presença de plantas daninhas. Aos 28 dias após a aplicação dos tratamentos, constatou-se que os herbicidas atrazine e s-metolachor não foram eficientes no controle de Cenchrus echinatus e Alternanthera tenella, respectivamente. As associações entre os herbicidas atrazina + s-metolachor e atrazine + simazine proporcionaram incrementos significativos no controle de Euphorbia heterophilla e Alternanthera tenella. A presença de plantas daninhas influenciou negativamente na produtividade da cultura.

This study aimed to estimate the effectiveness of weed control in maize (Zea mays L.), under a no-till system, in the Cerrado (Brazilian Savanna) region, by applying pre-emergence herbicides. Two experiments were carried out in Montevidiu, Goiás State, Brazil, during the 2007/2008 crop, in a randomized block design, with four replications. The following treatments were evaluated: atrazine (1,600 g ha-1), atrazine + s-metolachor (1,665 g ha-1 + 1,305 g ha-1), s-metolachor (1,680 g ha-1), atrazine + simazine (250 g ha-1 + 250 g ha-1), and control with and without weeds. It was found out that, 28 days after the treatments application, the herbicides atrazine and s-metolachor were not effective in controlling Cenchrus echinatus and Alternanthera tenella, respectively. The associations between atrazine + s-metolachor and atrazine + simazine have provided significant increases in the Euphorbia heterophilla and Alternanthera tenella control. The presence of weeds had a negative effect on crop yield.

Dentre os conceitos modernos de controle de pragas, o uso de inseticidas no tratamento de sementes constitui-se num dos métodos mais eficientes. Deve-se, entretanto, conhecer a influência desses produtos com relação à qualidade fisiológica das sementes tratadas. Objetivou-se através desta pesquisa avaliar a qualidade fisiológica de sementes de soja tratadas com inseticidas, sob quatro períodos de armazenamento (0, 15, 30 e 45 dias após o tratamento). O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 4 x 7, com quatro repetições, onde as sementes do cultivar M-SOY 6101 foram tratadas com os inseticidas thiamethoxam (Cruiser 700 WS), na dose de 250 mL de produto comercial (p.c.)/100 kg de sementes; fipronil (Standak), na dose de 150 mL de p.c./100 kg de sementes; imidacloprid (Gaucho FS), na dose de 150 ml de p.c./100 kg de sementes; [imidacloprid + thiodicarb] (CropStar FS), na dose de 0,3 L. ha-1; carbofuran (Furadan 350 TS), na dose de 1,5 L/100 kg de sementes; acefato (Orthene 750 BR), na dose de 1 kg/ 100 kg de sementes e uma testemunha, sem tratamento. As variáveis analisadas foram: germinação, velocidade de emergência, comprimento de raiz e de plântula e porcentagem de plântulas normais no teste de envelhecimento acelerado. A aplicação dos inseticidas carbofuran e acefato é prejudicial à qualidade fisiológica das sementes de soja cultivar M-SOY 6101, por um período de armazenamento de até 45 dias. A redução da qualidade fisiológica das sementes, condicionada pelos inseticidas avaliados, intensifica-se com o prolongamento do armazenamento das sementes tratadas, recomendando-se, portanto, que o tratamento inseticida das sementes seja realizado próximo ao momento da semeadura.

The use of insecticides for seed treatment is one of the most effective of modern pest control concepts. Therefore, the influence of these products on the physiological quality of treated seeds should be known. This study aimed to evaluate the physiological quality of insecticide-treated soybean seeds stored for four different periods (0, 15, 30 and 45 days after treatment). The experimental design was completely randomized in a 4 x 7 factorial design with four replications. Seeds of M-SOY 6101 were treated with thiamethoxam (Cruiser 700 WS) at a dosage of 250 mL commercial product (c.p.)/ 100 kg of seeds; fipronil (Standak) at a dosage of 150 mL/100 kg of seeds, imidacloprid (Gaucho FS) at a dosage of 150 mL/100 kg of seeds; [imidacloprid + thiodicarb] (Cropstar FS) at a dosage of 0.3 L. ha-1; carbofuran (Furadan 350 TS) at a dosage of 1.5 L/100 kg of seeds, acephate (Orthene 750 BR) at a dosage of 1 kg / 100 kg of seeds and an untreated control. The variables analyzed were: germination, speed of emergence , root and seedling length and percentage of normal seedlings after accelerated ageing. The application of the insecticides acephate and carbofuran is harmful to the seed quality of the soybean cultivar M-SOY 6101, for a storage period of 45 days. The reduction in seed quality caused by insecticides intensifies with the prolonged storage of treated seed and, therefore, it is recommended that the insecticide seed treatment be done close to sowing.
