Resumo O problema da cultura para Nietzsche é uma questão central que atravessa toda sua obra e que além disso permite entender o fundamental de seu pensamento. Neste artigo apresentaremos o conceito de cultura em seu ciclo extemporâneo, remetendo as análises a um período concreto de sua produção, aquele que compreende de O nascimento da tragédia (1872 até publicação da quarta Consideração Extemporânea (1876). Desse modo incluímos nesse ciclo intempestivo a sua opera prima, na medida em que nela se assentam os problemas vertebrais que as Considerações Extemporâneas enfrentarão à maneira de combate: a modernidadee racional como modo general de organização da existência, e em concreto o espírito da ciência que funciona como o fundamento da cultura moderna e que remonta historicamente à virada socrática. Essas críticas contra as ideias modernas Nietzsche as expõe de maneira magistral nas primeiras duas Extemporâneas, que têm como objetivo combater o filisteu da formação [Bildungsphilister] e ao espírito historicista que se havia instalado em sua época.

Abstract The topic of culture is present throughout the whole of Nietzsche’s work and plays a fundamental role in helping us understand his philosophy. For the purposes of this essay, we will present the concept of culture during a specific period of his work, ranging from the publication of The Birth of Tragedy (1872) to the fourth of his Untimely Meditations (1876), which will be referred to as the untimely period. Thus, we are including in this period his opera prima, since the fundamental problems he will combat in the Untimely Meditations are present here: the idea of modernity as a general way of organizing existence, and more specifically, the scientific spirit as the backbone of modern culture which can be traced back to Socrates. Nietzsche presents the criticisms towards modern ideas majestically in the first two Meditations, with the objective of combatting the historicist spirit of the time.

Este artigo mostra a recepção e a influência de Nietzsche no Uruguai durante os anos de 1890 a 1910. Para tal, o artigo se divide em três partes. Em primeiro lugar, se expõem as diferentes vias pelas quais se introduz Nietzsche, como chega? como era lido? quem o lia? A segunda parte investiga as traduções francesas e espanholas que chegaram ao Uruguai. E, por ultimo, se expõem as diferentes revistas culturais da época que abordaram Nietzsche.

This paper shows the reception and influence of Nietzsche in Uruguay during the years 1890 to 1910. For this purpose, the paper is divided into three parts. First of all, we present the different ways in which Nietzsche was introduced: how was Nietzsche read? Who read his work? The second part inquires the French and Spanish translations which arrived in Uruguay. Finally, we will display the different cultural magazines of that period which dealt with Nietzsche.
