Abstract Introduction: Chronic kidney disease is usually asymptomatic, and its diagnosis depends on laboratory tests, with emphasis on serum creatinine and proteinuria. Objective: To assess knowledge on the role of serum creatinine as a biomarker of kidney function in a sample of the Brazilian population. Method: Cross-sectional observational study conducted in São Paulo (SP, Brazil), in which a random adult population was interviewed. Results: A total of 1138 subjects were interviewed, with a median age of 36 years old (27–52); 55.1% were female. Regarding the “creatinine” biomarker, 40.6% stated they had never performed such a test. When asked about their knowledge on the usefulness of this exam, only 19.6% knew its function. The other responses were “I don’t know” (71.6%), evaluating heart function (0.9%) and liver function (7.8%). Of those who reported they had already taken a creatinine test, only 29.4% correctly identified the role of creatinine. When dividing the groups into “knows” and “does not know” the function of creatinine, a statistically significant difference (p < 0.05) was observed regarding level of education, female sex, being a healthcare student/worker, having ever measured creatinine, knowing someone with kidney disease and older age. In the multivariate analysis, the main variable related to knowing the creatinine role was having previously taken the test (OR 5.16; 95% CI 3.16–8.43, p < 0.001). Conclusion: There is a significant lack of knowledge about creatinine and its use in checkups. The results indicate that greater efforts are needed from healthcare professionals to raise awareness on the role of serum creatinine.

Resumo Introdução: A doença renal crônica costuma ser assintomática e seu diagnóstico depende da realização de exames laboratoriais, com destaque para a creatinina sérica e pesquisa de proteinúria. Objetivo: Avaliar em uma amostra da população brasileira o conhecimento sobre o papel da creatinina sérica como marcador de função renal. Método: Estudo observacional transversal realizado na cidade de São Paulo (SP, Brasil), em que foi entrevistada uma população adulta aleatória. Resultados: Foram entrevistados 1138 indivíduos, com idade mediana de 36 anos (27–52); 55,1% do sexo feminino. Com relação ao marcador “creatinina”, 40,6% afirmaram que nunca realizaram tal dosagem. Quando questionados quanto ao conhecimento sobre a utilidade desse exame, somente 19,6% sabiam a sua função. As outras respostas foram “não sei” (71,6%), avaliar o funcionamento do coração (0,9%) e fígado (7,8%). Dos que afirmaram já terem realizado o exame de creatinina, somente 29,4% acertaram a função da creatinina. Ao dividir os grupos em “sabe” e “não sabe” a função da creatinina, percebeu-se diferença estatisticamente significante (p < 0,05) em relação ao grau de escolaridade, sexo feminino, ser aluno/trabalhador da saúde, ter dosado creatinina alguma vez, conhecer alguém com doença renal e maior idade. Na análise multivariada, a principal variável relacionada com conhecer a função da creatinina foi ter realizado o exame anteriormente (OR 5,16; IC 95% 3,16–8,43, p < 0,001). Conclusão: Há grande desconhecimento sobre a creatinina e seu uso em check-ups. Os resultados indicam que é necessário maior esforço por parte dos profissionais de saúde para divulgar o papel da creatinina sérica.

Abstract Background The distinction between sensory neuronopathies (SN), which is by definition purely sensory, and sensory polyneuropathies (SP) and sensory multineuropathies (SM) is important for etiologic investigation and prognosis estimation. However, this task is often challenging in clinical practice. We hypothesize that F-wave assessment might be helpful, since it is able to detect subtle signs of motor involvement, which are found in SP and SM, but not in SN. Objective The aim of the present study was to determine whether F-waves are useful to distinguish SN from SP and SM. Methods We selected 21 patients with SP (12 diabetes mellitus, 4 transthyretin familial amyloid polyneuropathy, 4 others), 22 with SM (22 leprosy), and 26 with SN (13 immune-mediated, 10 idiopathic, 3 others) according to clinical-electrophysiological-etiological criteria. For every subject, we collected data on height and performed 20 supramaximal distal stimuli in median, ulnar, peroneal, and tibial nerves, bilaterally, to record F-waves. Latencies (minimum and mean) and persistences were compared across groups using the Kruskal-Wallis and Bonferroni tests. P-values < 0.05 were considered significant. Results All groups were age, gender, and height-matched. Overall, there were no significant between-group differences regarding F-wave latencies. In contrast, F-wave persistence was able to stratify the groups. Peroneal F-wave persistence was higher, bilaterally, in the SN group compared to SM and SP (p < 0.05). In addition, F-waves persistence of the ulnar and tibial nerves was also helpful to separate SN from SP (p < 0.05). Conclusion F-wave persistence of the peroneal nerves might be an additional and useful diagnostic tool to differentiate peripheral sensory syndromes.

Resumo Antecedentes A distinção entre neuronopatias sensitivas (SN) e polineuropatias sensitivas (SP) e multineuropatias sensitivas (SM) é importante para a investigação etiológica e para o prognóstico. Contudo, esta tarefa é desafiadora na prática clínica. Hipotetizou-se que a avaliação das ondas-F pode ser útil, por ser capaz de detectar envolvimento motor nas SP e SM, mas não nas SN. Objetivo Determinar se as ondas-F podem ajudar a distinguir entre SN, SP e SM. Métodos Selecionou-se 21 pacientes com SP (12 diabetes mellitus, 4 ATTR-FAP e 4 com outras neuropatias), 22 com SM (22 hanseníases) e 26 com SN (13 imunomediadas, 10 idiopáticas e 3 com outras neuronopatias), de acordo com critérios clínicos, etiológicos e eletrofisiológicos. Para cada indivíduo, foi aferida a altura e foram aplicados 20 estímulos distais supramáximos nos nervos mediano, ulnar, fibular e tibial, bilateralmente, para registrar as ondas-F. Uma comparação foi feita, por grupo, das latências (mínimas e médias) e persistências pelos testes Kruskal-Wallis e Bonferroni. Valores de p < 0.05 foram considerados estatisticamente significativos. Resultados Todos os grupos foram pareados por idade, sexo e altura. Não houve diferença estatística significativa entre os grupos quanto às latências das ondas-F. A persistência da onda-F foi capaz de estratificar os grupos, sendo as dos nervos fibulares bilateralmente maiores no grupo SN que nos grupos SM e SP (p < 0.05). Adicionalmente, a persistência das ondas-F dos nervos ulnares e tibiais também foi útil para distinguir SN de SP (p < 0.05). Conclusão A persistência das ondas-F dos nervos fibulares pode ser uma ferramenta adicional e útil para diferenciar síndromes sensitivas periféricas.

Abstract Food processing allows a wide variation in the final quality of the product, which directly depends on the quality of the raw material used, the processing conditions, storage and commercialization. Salting, for example, is one of the oldest methods used to preserve meat. In the meat industry, the incorporation of salts into products is commonly used to improve dietary functionality and ensure food safety. Thus, the objective of this review was to understand that the discarded matrix meat can be used to make jerky meat, adding value to the final product. The processing of jerked beef is based on the osmotic dehydration process in counter flow, promoted by the penetration of salt with consequent exit of water from the inter and extra fibrillar compartments to the surface, with subsequent drying. At the same time, myosin denaturation occurs as a result of high temperatures, as well as myoglobin oxidation, promoted by salt, increasing the susceptibility to protein oxidation. The use of discarded animal meat to make jerky adds value to the by-product, improving sensory quality.

ABSTRACT BACKGROUND: Hepatosplenic schistosomiasis is an endemic disease prevalent in tropical countries and is associated with a high incidence of portal vein thrombosis. Inflammatory changes caused by both parasitic infection and portal thrombosis can lead to the development of chronic liver disease with potential carcinogenesis. AIMS: To assess the incidence of portal vein thrombosis and hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with schistosomiasis during long-term follow-up. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted involving patients with schistosomiasis followed up at our institution between 1990 and 2021. RESULTS: A total of 126 patients with schistosomiasis were evaluated in the study. The mean follow-up time was 16 years (range 5–31). Of the total, 73 (57.9%) patients presented portal vein thrombosis during follow-up. Six (8.1%) of them were diagnosed with hepatocellular carcinoma, all with portal vein thrombosis diagnosed more than ten years before. CONCLUSIONS: The incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma in patients with schistosomiasis and chronic portal vein thrombosis highlights the importance of a systematic long-term follow-up in this group of patients.

RESUMO RACIONAL: A esquistossomose hepatoesplênica é uma doença endêmica prevalente em países tropicais e está associada a uma alta incidência de trombose da veia porta. Alterações inflamatórias causadas tanto pela infecção parasitária quanto pela trombose portal podem levar ao desenvolvimento de doença hepática crônica com potencial carcinogênico. OBJETIVOS: Avaliar a incidência de trombose da veia porta e carcinoma hepatocelular em pacientes com esquistossomose durante um seguimento de longo prazo. MÉTODOS: Foi realizado estudo retrospectivo envolvendo pacientes com esquistossomose acompanhados em nossa instituição entre 1990 e 2021. RESULTADOS: Um total de 126 pacientes com esquistossomose foram avaliados no estudo. O tempo médio de acompanhamento foi de 16 anos (variando de 5 a 31). Do total, 73 (57,9%) pacientes apresentaram trombose da veia porta durante o seguimento e seis (8,1%) deles foram diagnosticados com carcinoma hepatocelular, todos com trombose da veia porta diagnosticada há mais de 10 anos. CONCLUSÕES: A incidência de carcinoma hepatocelular em pacientes com esquistossomose e trombose da veia porta crônica destaca a importância de um acompanhamento sistemático de longo prazo nesse grupo de pacientes.

ABSTRACT The cities of Petrópolis (RJ) and Poços de Caldas (MG) are located in the mountain range regions of their respective states in Brazil. They frequently suffer from damage caused by heavy rains. Therefore, analyzing and predicting the occurrence of maximum rainfall for these locations is fundamental for planning activities that are vulnerable to its occurrence. The modeling of this variable is done, generally, through the generalized distribution of extreme values (GEV), which the Bayesian methodology has shown good results in estimating its parameters. Therefore, the present study aimed to fit the GEV distribution to the historical series of maximum rainfall in Petrópolis and Poços de Caldas, and to evaluate different structures of prior distributions, informative and non-informative, in predicting the maximum rainfall expected for different return times. The number of successes and precision were analyzed in order to evaluate the predictions obtained with the information from the maximum rainfall of different locations to elicit the prior distribution. To obtain the posterior marginal distributions, the Monte Carlo method via Markov Chains was used. The use of informative prior distribution based on data from Poços de Caldas was more precise and accurate to predict the maximum rainfall for Petrópolis, while for Poços de Caldas, the informative prior based on information from São João da Boa Vista (SP) provided the best results. For both locations, it is expected that, in an average time of 5 years, there will be at least one day with maximum rainfall equal to or greater than 100 mm.

Resumo As cidades de Petrópolis (RJ) e Poços de Caldas (MG) estão situadas em regiões serranas de seus respectivos estados e sofrem frequentemente com estragos provocados por fortes chuvas. Analisar e prever a ocorrência de precipitações máximas nessas localidades são fundamentais para o planejamento de atividades vulneráveis à sua ocorrência. A modelagem dessa variável é feita geralmente com distribuição generalizada de valores extremos (GEV), e a metodologia bayesiana tem apresentado bons resultados na estimação de seus parâmetros. Sendo assim, o presente estudo teve como objetivos ajustar a distribuição GEV às séries históricas de precipitação máxima de Petrópolis e Poços de Caldas e avaliar diferentes estruturas de distribuições a priori, informativas e não informativas, na predição da precipitação máxima esperada para diferentes tempos de retorno. Foram analisados o número de acertos e a precisão a fim de avaliar as previsões obtidas com as informações advindas das precipitações máximas de diferentes localidades para eliciação da distribuição a priori. A obtenção das distribuições marginais a posteriori foi realizada usando-se o método Monte Carlo via cadeias de Markov. A utilização da distribuição a priori informativa fundamentada nos dados de Poços de Caldas foi mais precisa e teve maior número de acertos para predizer as precipitações máximas para Petrópolis, enquanto para Poços de Caldas foi a priori informativa com base nas informações de São João da Boa Vista (SP). Para ambas as localidades, espera-se que, em um tempo médio de cinco anos, ocorra pelo menos um dia com precipitação máxima igual ou superior a 100 mm.

Abstract Introduction: Smartphone use has become a popular social communication phenomenon worldwide. Its excessive use can compromise daily routines and habits, which is associated with sleep disorders, stress, anxiety and pain. Therefore, the university student stands out, as they has a lifestyle in which it is necessary to reconcile daily activities with curriculum activities, aggravating psychosocial factors. Objective: To investigate whether smartphone addiction influences sleep quality, anxiety, depression and pain in university students. Methods: We carried out an analytical cross-sectional study. For data collection, the following self-administered questionnaires were used: Smartphone Addiction Inventory (SPAI-BR), to assess smartphone dependence; Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), to evaluate sleep quality; Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, to assess anxiety and depression (HADS), where it was subdivided into HADS-A for anxiety and HADS-D for depression; and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) to determine physical pain intensity. The sample consisted of 301 university students studying physiotherapy and physical education at the State University of Northern Paraná (UENP). They were divided according to the score obtained in the SPAI-BR between the “regular” group (up to 6 points) and “predisposed” to smartphone dependence (7 or more points). Results: The comparisons were statistically significant in favor of the regular group: the predisposed group obtained a higher score for the questionnaires used with an average NRS of 2.37 points, average HADS-D of 9.05 points and average HADS-A of 6.01 points. Differences between groups were statistically significant: NRS, p = 0.018; HADS-A, p = 0.001; HADS-D p = 0.001; and PSQI, p = 0.001. Conclusion: The university students analyzed in this study classified as predisposed were more prone to being addicted to their smartphone, and they were more likely to have anxiety, with a worse quality of sleep and with a greater intensity of pain.

Resumo Introdução: O uso de smartphones se tornou um fenômeno social mundialmente popular de comunicação. Seu uso excessivo pode comprometer as rotinas e hábitos diários, que estão associados aos distúrbios do sono, estresse, ansiedade, algias; logo, destaca-se o universitário, que apresenta um estilo de vida em que é preciso conciliar as atividades diárias com as curriculares, agravando fatores psicossociais. Objetivo: Investigar se a dependência do uso de smartphone influencia a qualidade de sono e os níveis de ansiedade, depressão e dor em universitários. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transversal analítico. Para a coleta dos dados foram utilizados os questionários autoaplicáveis Inventário de Dependências do Smartphone (SPAI-BR), Escala de Pittsburgh (PSQI), Escala Hospitalar de Ansiedade e Depressão (HADS), sendo este subdividido em HADS-A (ansiedade) e HADS-D (depressão), e Escala Numérica da Dor (END). A amostra foi composta por 301 universitários da Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná, dos cursos de fisioterapia e educação física. Os estudantes foram divididos de acordo com o escore obtido no SPAI-BR entre grupo regular (até 6 pontos) e pré-disposto à dependência do uso de smartphone (7 ou mais pontos). Resultados: As comparações foram estatisticamente significativas a favor do grupo regular; sendo assim, o grupo pré-disposto obteve uma pontuação pior nos questionários utilizados, sendo a média END de 2,37 pontos, a média HADS-D de 9,05 e a média HADS-A de 6,01. Os valores de intensidade de dor entre os grupos foram de p = 0,018; HADS-A: p = 0,001; HADS-D: p = 0,001; PSQI: p= 0,001. Conclusão: Os universitários classificados como pré- dispostos apresentaram uma maior propensão à dependência do smartphone, além de maior chance de terem ansiedade com uma pior qualidade de sono e maior intensidade de dor.

Abstract Introduction Kinesio tape (KT), although frequently used in sports, is still a matter of debate, and the results of studies that evaluated its effects on muscle strength (MS) in athletes are still inconclusive and contradictory. Objective To evaluate the effect of a progressive KT tension protocol on knee MS in runners over an eight-week intervention. Methods Clinical trial involving 49 runners of both sexes randomized into two groups: KT (KT with progressive tension protocol) and placebo (KT without tension). The MS of knee flexors and extensors was evaluated by isokinetic dynamometer (60º/s and 90º/s) at four moments: (1) without KT; (2) with KT and without tension; (3) without KT (after 8 weeks after of intervention); (4) with KT and with tension (after 8 weeks after of intervention). Inter- and intra-group comparisons were made. The significance level adopted was 95% (p < 0.05). Results There were no significant differences in MS between the groups at any of the evaluated moments. There was a statistically significant difference in MS (60º/s) in both groups (KT and placebo) when comparing moments 4 and 2 for knee flexors, and in the placebo group between moments 4 and 2 and moments 4 and 3 for knee extensors. Conclusion The progressive tension protocol of KT was not able to intervene in the SM gain of knee flexors and extensors of runners in inter and intragroup comparisons.

Resumo Introdução A Kinesio tape (KT), apesar de muito utilizada na prática esportiva, ainda é motivo de debate e os resultados de estudos que avaliaram seus efeitos na força muscular (FM) em atletas ainda são inconclusivos e contraditórios. Objetivo Avaliar o efeito de um protocolo de tensão progressiva KT na FM do joelho em corredores ao longo de uma intervenção de oito semanas. Métodos Ensaio clínico envolvendo 49 corredores de ambos os sexos randomizados em dois grupos: KT (KT com protocolo de tensão progressiva) e placebo (KT sem tensão). A FM dos flexores e extensores do joelho foi avaliada por dinamômetro isocinético (60º/s e 90º/s) em quatro momentos: (1) sem KT; (2) com KT e sem tensão; (3) sem KT (após 8 semanas); (4) com KT e com tensão (pós-protocolo 8 semanas). Comparações inter e intragrupos foram feitas. O nível de significância adotado foi de 95% (p < 0,05). Resultados Não houve diferenças signi-ficativas na FM entre os grupos em nenhum dos momentos avaliados. Houve diferença estatisticamente significante na FM (60º/s) em ambos os grupos (KT e placebo, quando comparados os momentos 4 e 2 para flexores de joelho, e no grupo placebo entre os momentos 4 e 2 e os momentos 4 e 3 para extensores de joelho. Conclusão O protocolo de tensão progressiva de KT não foi capaz de intervir no ganho de FM de flexores e extensores de joelho de corredores em comparações inter e intragrupos.

ABSTRACT. Multi-trait multi-environment (MTME) models were fitted to eucalyptus breeding trials data to assess residual variance structure, genetic stability and adaptability. To do so, 215 eucalyptus clones were evaluated in a randomized complete block design with 30 replicates and one plant per plot in four environments. At 36 months of age, tree diameter at breast height (DBH) and pilodyn penetration (PP) were measured. Two MTME models were fitted, for which residuals were considered homoscedastic and heteroscedastic, with the best MTME model selected using Bayesian information criterion. The harmonic mean of the relative performance of the genotypic values (HMRPGV) was used to determine stability and adaptability. Of the two models, the heteroscedastic MTME model had better fit and provided greater accuracy. In addition, genotype-by-environment interaction was complex, and there was low genetic correlation between DBH and PP. Rank correlation between the clones selected by the MTME models was high for DBH but low for PP. The HMRPGV facilitated clone selection through simultaneous evaluation of stability, adaptability, and productivity. Thus, our results suggest that heteroscedastic MTME model / HMRPGV can be efficiently applied in the genetic evaluation and selection of eucalyptus clones.

ABSTRACT The rational exploitation of the land requires planning its agricultural use, which can be supported by the agricultural land suitability (ALS) assessment. The scheme to assess ALS proposed by Food Agricultural Organization (FAO) has been adopted in Brazil based on guiding charts for subtropical, humid tropical and semi-arid tropical climate. However, the guiding chart used for the semi-arid region has dramatically limited the ALS in drylands on which rainfed agriculture has been practiced. In this study, an adequation for the ALS assessment regarding the edaphoclimatic conditions of semi-arid region was proposed to improve the representation of agricultural areas and to allow a better planning of soil conservation practices. The ALS of the south region of Ceará State (Brazil) was assessed according to the FAO scheme and its initial adaptation to the Brazilian conditions; subsequently, this assessment was obtained by two adequations. Adequation I disregarded the limiting factor of water availability, while adequation II, besides disregarding the factor of water availability, established new limits for the classes of effective soil depth. The adequations resulted in an increase of 177.19 % in the areas with regular suitability for crops to the detriment of areas with restricted suitability for crops and areas with suitability only for pasture or grazing lands. The adequations increased the agricultural suitability in 41.26 % of the area of the mapping units, and 16.77 % of them were due to the modifications related to the effective soil depth, while the other 26.35 % were due to the changes related to water availability. The results related to water availability were equivalent to those observed through the dynamic analysis of land-use and cover associated with the rainfall, which demonstrated an increase in the areas for rainfed agriculture and a reduction in fallow and pasture areas in the years with rainfall within the climatic normality. The areas considered suitable for crop production with the adequation of the scheme may be included in soil conservation programs.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the health management indicators related to the mobile emergency care service in Ceará. Method: This is a documentary, retrospective, quantitative study, carried out on the IntegraSUS website of the Ceará state government - Brazil, during the period July 2021, to analyze the indicators “total calls” and “average response time”. Results: It was verified a profile of prevalent calls for men (52.66%), with advanced age >70 years (22.06%), Covid-19 service occurrences for the Juazeiro central station (7.62%) and motorcycle accidents for the Eusébio central station (7.94%). The service got calls for 177 cities in Ceará (96.19%) with a longer average response time for Covid-19. Conclusion: The analysis signals the need to adjust strategies to improve the performance of the service response time, with a review of the organizational system, including the publication of data by the digital platform.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar los indicadores de gestión de salud relacionados con el servicio móvil de atención de urgencias en el Estado de Ceará. Método: se trata de un estudio documental, retrospectivo, de abordaje cuantitativo, realizado en el sitio IntegraSUS del gobierno del estado de Ceará - Brasil, en el período de julio de 2021, para el análisis de los indicadores “total de llamadas” y “tiempo medio de respuesta”. Resultados: se verificó un perfil de prevalencia de llamadas para hombres (52,66%), con edad avanzada >70 años (22,06%), ocurrencias de asistencia del Covid-19 para la Central Juazeiro (7,62%) y accidentes de motocicleta para la Central Eusébio (7,94%). El servicio obtuvo llamadas para 177 municipios de Ceará (96,19%) con un tiempo medio de respuesta mayor para Covid-19. Conclusión: el análisis señala la necesidad de ajustar las estrategias para mejorar el rendimiento del tiempo de respuesta del servicio, con una revisión del sistema organizativo, incluida la publicación de datos por la plataforma digital.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar os indicadores de gestão em saúde relacionados ao serviço de atendimento móvel de urgências do Ceará. Método: trata-se de um estudo documental, retrospectivo, de abordagem quantitativa, realizado no sítio eletrônico IntegraSUS do governo do estado do Ceará - Brasil, no período de julho de 2021, para análise dos indicadores “total de chamadas” e “tempo médio de resposta”. Resultados: verificou-se um perfil de chamadas prevalentes para homens (52,66%), com idade avançada >70 anos (22,06%), ocorrências de atendimento Covid-19 para a Central Juazeiro (7,62%) e acidentes por motocicleta para a Central Eusébio (7,94%). O serviço obteve chamados para 177 municípios cearenses (96,19%) com tempo médio de resposta maior para Covid-19. Conclusão: a análise sinaliza a necessidade de ajuste das estratégias para melhorar o desempenho do tempo-resposta do serviço, com revisão do sistema organizacional, inclusive, da publicização dos dados pela plataforma digital.

ABSTRACT Sequential crops may be affected by herbicide residuals in the soil. In corn crop there are reports of problems when the crop is sown soon after application of ACCase-inhibiting herbicides. The aim of this study was to evaluate safety intervals for the application of ACCase-inhibiting herbicides before sowing corn in different soils. Two experiments were conducted in a greenhouse, and in the field conditions. In both, the experimental design were completely randomized in factorial scheme 6x4+1 (6 periods of application x 4 herbicides + 1 control) with five replications. The treatments were: haloxyfop-P-methyl (124.7 g ha-1), clethodim – formulation 1 (192 g ha-1), quizalofop-P-ethyl (100 g ha-1) and clethodim formulation 2 (192 g ha-1) in applications at 15, 10, 5, 3, 1 and 0 days before sowing in sandy and clayey soil. In the greenhouse, formulations based on clethodim were more safety in both types of soils, and safety intervals for clethodim-based herbicides were 5 days and greater than 15 days for quizalofop-P-ethyl and haloxyfop. Haloxyfop should not be applied on day of sowing in clay soil. In the field none of the treatments compromised the development and yield of the crop, even when applied on the day of sowing.

Abstract Background Self-care in the management of systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is crucial, and validated instruments can help researchers and health professionals to plan strategies to improve self-care in people with SAH. Objective The main objective of this study was to translate, cross-culturally adapt, and validated the Hypertension Self-Care Profile (HBP-SCP) for Brazilian Portuguese. Methods The translation and cross-cultural adaptation was performed in five phases, and the pre-final version was tested in 30 individuals, native speakers of Portuguese with a diagnosis of hypertension. The final version was administered in 100 individuals. The inclusion criteria were: diagnosis of SAH, characterized by systolic arterial blood pressure ≥ 140 mmHg and/or diastolic arterial blood pressure ≥ 90mmHg, regular use of antihypertensive medications and over 18 years of age. The present study also used two other questionnaires, previously validated for the Brazilian population, to verify the validity of the construct, the Healthy Habits Perception Questionnaire (HHPQ) and the Quality of Life in Hypertension Mini-Questionnaire (MINICHAL-BRASIL). Results During the translation and cross-cultural adaptation phase, there were no disagreements. Adequate reliability — intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) ≥ 0.89, standard error of measurement (SEM) % ≤ 4.34, minimum detectable change (MDC) % ≤ 12.04 — and internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha ≥ 0.75) were observed. The behavior domain of HBP-SCP obtained significant correlations (p < 0.05) with the self-efficacy domain and HHPQ; the motivation domain with the self-efficacy domain; and the self-efficacy domain with the somatic manifestation domain of MINICHAL-BRASIL. No ceiling and floor effects were observed. Conclusions The Brazilian Portuguese version of the HBP-SCP has adequate psychometric properties, according to the best scientific recommendations.

ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to analyze the maturity level of Knowledge Management in the Municipal Health Department of the Municipality of Contagem, Minas Gerais, Brazil, combining theory and practice. Maturity in Knowledge Management is established in 13 dimensions, which must be considered concomitantly. The methods used consist of the application of a research instrument consisting of 39 statements, arranged on a five-point Likert scale, sectioned into 13 constructs, which are analyzed from a positivist perspective, using the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin criteria for dimensionality. , Cronbach's Alpha for reliability and Pearson's r together with the p-Value for validity, adopting Means, Standard Deviation and Confidence Interval of 95%. The results indicate that the institution is at level three out of five, called Incipient, characterized by seeking to manage knowledge and its critical areas for its success. For elevation to level four out of five of maturity, three actions are suggested for the dimensions, Strategy, Leadership and Senior Management support, Knowledge Management Team, Resources (financial, human, material and time), Processes and Activities, Human Resources, Training and Education, Motivation, Teamwork, Culture, Measurement and Pilot Project and two actions for the Information Technology dimension, totaling 38 actions to promote maturity. This research contributed to the search for empirical studies on the maturity level of Knowledge Management and instigates new studies in different public institutions.

RESUMEN El objetivo de esta investigación fue analizar el nivel de madurez de la Gestión del Conocimiento en la Secretaría Municipal de Salud del Municipio de Contagem, Minas Gerais, Brasil, combinando teoría y práctica. La madurez en Gestión del Conocimiento se establece en 13 dimensiones, las cuales deben ser consideradas concomitantemente. Los métodos utilizados consisten en la aplicación de un instrumento de investigación que consta de 39 enunciados, ordenados en una escala tipo Likert de cinco puntos, seccionados en 13 constructos, los cuales son analizados desde una perspectiva positivista, utilizando los criterios de dimensionalidad de Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin; Alfa de Cronbach para la confiabilidad y r de Pearson junto con el valor-p para validez; se adopta el análisis de la media, la desviación estándar y el intervalo de confianza del 95 %. Los resultados indican que la institución se encuentra en el nivel tres de cinco, denominado incipiente, caracterizado por buscar gestionar el conocimiento y sus áreas críticas en función de su éxito. Para la elevación al nivel cuatro de cinco de madurez se sugieren tres acciones para las dimensiones: estrategia, liderazgo y apoyo a la alta dirección, equipo de gestión del conocimiento, recursos (económicos, humanos, materiales y de tiempo), procesos, actividades, recursos humanos, capacitación y educación, motivación, trabajo en equipo, cultura, medición y proyecto piloto; además dos acciones para la dimensión de Tecnologías de la Información. Se proponen 38 acciones en total para promover la madurez. Esta investigación contribuyó a la búsqueda de estudios empíricos sobre el nivel de madurez de la Gestión del Conocimiento y propone nuevos estudios en diferentes instituciones públicas.

Os resultados indicam que a instituição se encontra no nível três de cinco, denominado Incipiente, caracterizado por buscar gerenciar o conhecimento e suas áreas críticas para seu sucesso. Para elevação ao nível quatro de cinco de maturidade, são sugeridas três ações para as dimensões, Estratégia, Liderança e suporte da Alta Administração, Equipe de Gestão do Conhecimento, Recursos (financeiro, humano, material e tempo), Processos e Atividades, Gestão de Recursos Humanos, Treinamento e Educação, Motivação, Trabalho em Equipe, Cultura, Mensuração e Projeto Piloto e duas ações para a dimensão Tecnologia da Informação, totalizando 38 ações para promoção da maturidade. Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi desenvolver e validar um aplicativo para identificação de fatores de risco para câncer bucal. Para tanto, desenvolvemos um aplicativo (OCS: Oral Cancer Screening) com preditores de Câncer Oral (CO) e montagem de algoritmo para estimar o risco de seu desenvolvimento. Metodologia: Casos clínicos simulados foram projetados para que 40 profissionais com expertise em diagnóstico oral pudessem validar o algoritmo e testar sua usabilidade (SUS: System Usabilidade Score) e aceitabilidade (TAM: Technology Acceptance Model). O coeficiente alfa de Cronbach, os testes de Friedman/Dunn e a correlação de Spearman avaliaram as escalas SUS e TAM. A curva ROC foi traçada para estimar o ponto de corte do algoritmo ao sugerir um alto risco para OCS dos casos simulados. Os testes do qui-quadrado e exato de Fisher foram usados adicionalmente (p<0,05, SPSS v20.0). Resultados: Profissionais com expertise em diagnóstico oral tiveram usabilidade de 84,63±10,66 e aceitabilidade de 84,75±10,62, que se correlacionaram positivamente (p<0,001, r=0,647). Atuar em áreas clínicas da odontologia (p=0,034) e histórico de realização de CO orientação de fator de risco (p=0,048) aumentaram a aceitabilidade enquanto atuar no ensino superior aumentou a usabilidade (p=0,011). O ponto de corte sugerido pelo App após validação dos casos clínicos simulados apresentou alta sensibilidade de 84,8% e baixa especificidade de 58,4%. Conclusão: O OCS foi eficaz e com sensibilidade, usabilidade e aceitabilidade adequadas e pode contribuir para a detecção de lesões orais precoces.

Abstract The objective of this study was to develop and validate an App for identifying risk factors for oral cancer. To this end, we developed an App (OCS: Oral Cancer Screening) with predictors of Oral Cancer (OC) and algorithm assembly to estimate the risk of its development. Methodology: Simulated clinical cases were designed so that 40 professionals with expertise in oral diagnostics could validate the algorithm and test its usability (SUS: System Usability Score) and acceptability (TAM: Technology Acceptance Model). Cronbach's alpha coefficient, Friedman/Dunn tests, and Spearman correlation evaluated the SUS and TAM scales. ROC curve was plotted to estimate the cutoff point of the algorithm in suggesting a high risk for OCS of the simulated cases. Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were additionally used (p<0.05, SPSS v20.0). Results: Professionals with expertise in oral diagnosis had usability of 84.63±10.66 and acceptability of 84.75±10.62, which correlated positively (p<0.001, r=0.647). Acting in clinical areas of dentistry (p=0.034) and history of performing OC risk factor orientation (p=0.048) increased acceptability while acting in higher education increased usability (p=0.011). The cutoff point suggested by the App after validation of the simulated clinical cases showed high sensitivity of 84.8% and lower specificity of 58.4%. Conclusion: The OCS was effective and with adequate sensitivity, usability, and acceptability and may contribute to the detection of early oral lesions.
