RESUMO Biossurfactantes são moléculas multifuncionais produzidas por microrganismos e podem apresentar vantagens em relação aos surfactantes sintéticos, como baixa toxicidade, alta biodegradabilidade, maior redução da tensão superficial e alta diversidade química. No entanto, a produção em escala comercial ainda é escassa devido ao elevado custo dos substratos utilizados. Portanto, no presente trabalho foi avaliada a produção de biossurfactantes utilizando diferentes óleos como fonte de carbono, como óleo de soja, óleo de fritura, óleo diesel, óleo lubrificante novo e usado, a partir de dois gêneros de bactérias isoladas de lodo indústria de cosméticos e solo contaminado com óleo diesel, Lysinibacillus sp. e Bacillus sp. respectivamente. Estas foram identificadas por sequenciamento do fragmento do gene RNAr 16S e mantidas sob refrigeração a 4 ºC em tubos de ensaio, com ágar triptona de soja. Os ensaios de produção foram realizados sob agitação de 200 rpm a 30 °C com duração de 7 dias. A produção de biossurfactante foi analisada pela atividade emulsificante, índice emulsificação e por colapso da gota. As bactérias utilizadas produziram biossurfactante em todos os tipos de óleos testados. O óleo de soja mostrou-se o melhor substrato para produção de biossurfactante a partir do Lysinibacillus sp. e Bacillus sp. com índice de emulsificação de 50 % e 46,63 %, respectivamente.

ABSTRACT Biosurfactants are multifunctional molecules produced by microorganisms and havea some advantages compared to synthetic surfactants, such as low toxicity, high biodegradability ,improved tensoactivity and chemical diversity. However, commercial scale production is not viable due to the high cost of the substrates used. Therefore, in the present work we evaluated the production of biosurfactants using different oils as carbon source, such as soybean oil, frying oil, diesel oil, new and used lubricating oil, from two genera of bacteria isolated from sludge cosmetics industry and soil contaminated with diesel oil, Lysinibacillus sp. and Bacillus sp. respectively. These were identified by sequencing the 16S rRNA gene fragment and kept under refrigeration at 4 ° C in test tubes with tryptone soy agar. The production was carried out under agitation at 200 rpm at 30 °C for 7 days. The biosurfactant production was analyzed by emulsifying activity, emulsification index and drop collapse. The bacteria used produced biosurfactant in all types of oils tested. Soybean oil was the best substrate for the production of biosurfactant from Lysinibacillus sp. and Bacillus sp. with an emulsification index of 50% and 46.63%, respectively.

RESUMO Objetivo Sabe-se que alguns autistas são considerados não verbais, uma vez que não são hábeis para utilizar o código linguístico. E tampouco usam gestos para compensar a ausência de fala. Sendo assim, a habilidade comunicativa desses indivíduos pode ser beneficiada pelo uso do sistema de comunicação alternativa Picture Exchange Communication System – PECS. O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar os vocábulos mais frequentemente utilizados na implementação do PECS em crianças autistas. E, de forma complementar, analisar a correlação entre a frequência destes vocábulos e o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos. Método Trata-se de um estudo transversal. A amostra foi constituída por 31 crianças autistas, sendo vinte e cinco meninos e seis meninas, na faixa etária de 5 a 10 anos. Para identificação dos vocábulos mais frequentemente utilizados no período inicial de implementação do PECS, utilizamos a Planilha de Seleção de Vocabulário. E, para obtermos o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos, aplicamos o Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC). Resultados Houve predomínio significativo de itens na categoria alimentos, seguido de atividade e bebidas. Não houve correlação entre o total de itens identificados pelas famílias com o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos. Conclusão Foi possível identificar as categorias de vocábulos mais mencionados pelas famílias e verificar que o índice de comportamentos não adaptativos não interferiu diretamente na elaboração da planilha de seleção de vocábulos das crianças estudadas.

ABSTRACT Purpose It is known that some autistic individuals are considered non-verbal, since they are unable to use verbal language and barely use gestures to compensate for the absence of speech. Therefore, these individuals’ ability to communicate may benefit from the use of the Picture Exchange Communication System – PECS. The objective of this study was to verify the most frequently used words in the implementation of PECS in autistic children, and on a complementary basis, to analyze the correlation between the frequency of these words and the rate of maladaptive behaviors. Methods This is a cross-sectional study. The sample was composed of 31 autistic children, twenty-five boys and six girls, aged between 5 and 10 years old. To identify the most frequently used words in the initial period of implementation of PECS, the Vocabulary Selection Worksheet was used. And to measure the rate of maladaptive behaviors, we applied the Autism Behavior Checklist (ABC). Results There was a significant prevalence of items in the category “food”, followed by “activities” and “beverages”. There was no correlation between the total amount of items identified by the families and the rate of maladaptive behaviors. Conclusion The categories of words most mentioned by the families could be identified, and it was confirmed that the level of maladaptive behaviors did not interfere directly in the preparation of the vocabulary selection worksheet for the children studied.

<sec><title>Objetivo:</title><p>Comparar as habilidades de imitação de esquemas gestuais simples e de sequências de ações em rotinas familiares de crianças com Transtorno do Espectro do Autismo (TEA) e com Transtorno Específico de Linguagem e Fala (TEL) e analisar a relação entre o índice de imitação e a produção verbal das crianças do Grupo TEA.</p></sec><sec><title>Métodos:</title><p>A amostra foi constituída pelo pareamento 2:1 de 36 crianças, de acordo com gênero e faixa etária. Todas foram diagnosticadas por equipe multidisciplinar como pertencentes ao Grupo TEA (n=24) ou grupo TEL (n=12) e atendidas em intervenção direta e indireta em clínicaescola. Utilizamos a etapa de imitação da Avaliação da Maturidade Simbólica, que compreende a imitação de nove esquemas gestuais simples e de três esquemas gestuais sequenciais.</p></sec><sec><title>Resultados:</title><p> Observamos tendência de melhor desempenho do Grupo TEL na imitação de esquemas gestuais tanto simples como sequenciais. Ao relacionarmos a habilidade de imitação à produção verbal do Grupo TEA, verificamos relação direta entre produção de frases e imitação de esquemas sequenciais.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusão:</title><p> Foi possível comparar a habilidade de imitação gestual e de esquema sequencial e verificar maior comprometimento de desempenho nas crianças com diagnóstico compatível com o Espectro do Autismo. Dentre estas, verificouse relação direta significativa entre a habilidade de imitação de sequências de rotinas familiares e a produção verbal de palavras e frases.</p></sec>

<sec><title>Purpose:</title><p> To compare abilities of imitating generic and sequential motion gesture schemes in family routines among children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and to analyze the relation between imitation index and verbal production in the ASD group.</p></sec><sec><title>Methods:</title><p> The sample was constituted by 2:1 pairing of 36 children, according to gender and age. All of them were diagnosed by a multidisciplinary team as belonging to the ASD group (n=24) or SLI group (n=12) and were under direct and indirect intervention in a school clinic. We have used the stage of imitation of the Assessment of Symbolic Maturity, which entails the imitation of nine generic and three sequential motion gesture schemes.</p></sec><sec><title>Results:</title><p> There was a tendency to a better performance of the SLI group at imitating both generic and sequential gesture schemes. As we have related the ability of imitation to the verbal production in the ASD group, a direct relation between the production of phrases and the imitation of sequential schemes was detected.</p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion:</title><p> The ability to imitate gesture and sequential schemes could be compared, and a more prominent impairment was identified in children with autism. Among them, a direct significant relationship between the ability of imitating sequential gesture schemes in family routine and verbal production of words and sentences was verified.</p></sec>

Este trabalho objetivou avaliar a degradabilidade dos quelantes EDTA e EDDS por meio do monitoramento da respiração do solo. Os quelantes foram aplicados em dois solos, um Cambissolo Háplico contaminado por metais pesados e um Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo não contaminado. Três doses de cada quelante (250, 500 e 750 mg kg-1) e uma dose de glicose foram aplicadas em ambos os solos testados, com três repetições cada uma. A degradação dos quelantes foi determinada por meio da quantificação do CO2 emanado do início até o término do ensaio. As equações de cinética química não se ajustaram satisfatoriamente para ambos os quelantes no Latossolo, enquanto para o Cambissolo Háplico resultaram em valores de meia-vida entre 12-16 dias para o EDDS e de 6 dias para o EDTA. Nesse período, a quantidade degradada de EDTA foi de 15% somente. Para o Latossolo o EDTA foi responsável pela menor taxa de degradação, próxima de zero, ocorrida na menor dose, e o EDDS pela maior taxa (135%), ocorrida na maior dose. Para o Cambissolo Háplico, a menor taxa de degradação (19,2%) coube ao EDTA na maior dose e a maior taxa (211,4%), ao EDDS na menor dose. Ambos os quelantes tiveram redução da taxa de degradação com o aumento de suas respectivas doses, exceto com a aplicação da menor dose do EDDS (250 mg kg-1). Contudo, a degradabilidade do EDDS continuou maior que a verificada com a aplicação do EDTA.

This work aimed to evaluate the biodegradation of the chelant agents EDDS and EDTA through soil respiration. The chelant agents were applied in two soils, one was an Inceptisol contaminated with heavy metals and the other was a no contaminate Oxisol. Three doses of each chelant (250, 500 and 750 mg kg-1) and one dose of glucose were applied in both the soils tested, with three replicates. The chelant biodegradation was determined by quantifying the CO2 emitted during the experiment. The chemical kinetics equations used did not fit the data satisfactory for both chelants on the Oxisol, while a half-life of 12-16 days for EDDS and of 6 days for EDTA was obtained for the Inceptisol. During the half-life period, a chelant degradation of only 15% was observed. For the Oxisol, EDTA was responsible for the lowest biodegradation rate, next to zero, which occurred at lowest dose added. EDDS caused the highest biodegradation (135%) at the highest dose added to the soil. For the Inceptisol, the lowest biodegradation rate (19.2%) was observed with the highest dose of EDTA and the largest degradation rate (211.4%) with the EDDS at the lowest dose. Both the chelants degraded less with the increase of their respective doses, except with the application of the lowest dose of the EDDS (250 mg kg-1). However, the biodegradation of the EDDS continued greater than that verified with the EDTA application.

A obstrução dos túneis intra-atriais, no pós-operatório tardio de cirurgia de correção atrial para o tratamento da transposição das grandes artérias, não é uma complicação infreqüente, podendo até, em alguns casos, ser fatal. O tratamento cirúrgico de tais lesões pode apresentar altos índices de morbidade e mortalidade. Recentemente, o tratamento percutâneo mediante implante de stent ou por meio de angioplastia com cateter-balão tem sido utilizado com bons resultados. Relatamos dois casos de tratamento percutâneo de obstruções dos túneis intra-atriais sistêmico e pulmonar.

Obstruction of the venous pathways after atrial repair for transposition of the great arteries is not uncommon and can be, in some cases, fatal. The surgical treatment of these complications is a high-risk procedure. Nowadays, percutaneous balloon angioplasty or stenting have been used with good results. We report two cases of percutaneous treatment of systemic and pulmonary "baffle" obstructions.
