Abstract Zoysiagrass is an important ornamental and turfgrass cultivated in different countries. Recently, damage to this plant, characterized by a type of witch’s broom and stunting were observed in southern Brazil, suggesting possible attack by mites. A detailed examination of these plants showed the presence of a new mite species, Abacarus zoysiae Flechtmann & Tassi sp. nov., as responsible for the damage. The objective of this publication is to describe that new species, based on adult females and males.

ABSTRACT Texas citrus mite, Eutetranychus banksi (McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae: Tetranychinae), considered a serious pest of the citrus crop in some countries, is reported for the first time on mahogany seedlings (Swietenia macrophylla King, Meliaceae) in Brazil, causing foliar tanning with chlorotic spots and premature fall of leaves.

O ácaro-da-erinose-da-lichia, Aceria litchii (Keifer), é relatado pela primeira vez no Brasil, na região central do Estado de São Paulo, causando dano severo a folhas e frutos jovens. Esta espécie era citada como praga quarentenária A1 para o Brasil.

The litchi erinose mite, Aceria litchii, is reported for the first time in Brazil in the central region of the State of São Paulo, causing severe damage to newly developed leaves and fruits. This species was listed as an A1 quarantine pest in Brazil.
