Exige o desenvolvimento de tecnologias que, ao mesmo tempo, aumentem a produção de alimentos (nutritivos) e protejam o meio ambiente. Com base em uma análise de diagrama do modelo econômico de mudança tecnológica, este artigo examina vários caminhos tecnológicos que podem surgir em resposta ao aumento dos preços dos alimentos e à necessidade de preservar a terra. Este artigo indica, por meio do uso de literatura especializada, que as hipóteses derivadas da análise do modelo de mudança tecnológica já existem. Além disso, examinamos os potenciais impactos geopolíticos dessas mudanças no setor agroalimentar em todo o mundo. As mudanças que visam à conservação da terra devem incentivar a produção urbana de alimentos, a otimização sistemática de recursos em terras abundantes de alta qualidade e as práticas regenerativas. Abstract In recent years, food insecurity has worsened despite decades of progress. Agrifood systems must evolve to address population expansion and climate change simultaneously. A problem of this magnitude necessitates the development of technologies that simultaneously increase (nutritious) food production and protect the environment. Based on an a diagram analysis of the economic model of technological change, this article explores various technological paths that can emerge in response to rising food prices and the need to preserve land. This article indicates, through the use of specialized literature, that the hypotheses derived from the analysis of the technological change model already exist. In addition, we investigate the potential geopolitical effects of these technological shifts on the global agri-food industry. Changes aimed at conserving land must encourage urban food production, systematic resource optimization on abundant high-quality land, and regenerative practices. Resumo Este artigo trata dos impactos da Covid-19 na renda da população da Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro. A análise dos dados da aplicação de um web-survey confirma as hipóteses apontadas na literatura internacional no que diz respeito ao papel da pandemia de Covid-19 no agravamento de desigualdades sociais preexistentes. Além disso, o artigo informa que as desigualdades ocorrem nas áreas periféricas da metrópole fluminense, nas quais os impactos negativos são comparativamente muito superiores aos de outras áreas. A segurança econômica tornou-se mais desigual adiante da pandemia de Covid-19, quando comparados o lugar de moradia, a cor e o gênero dos habitantes.

Abstract This article deals with the impacts of Covid-19 on the income of the population living in the Metropolitan Region of Rio de Janeiro. The analysis of data from a web survey confirms the hypotheses pointed out in the international literature regarding the role of the Covid-19 pandemic in the worsening of pre-existing social inequalities. Also, the article shows that the inequalities occur in the peripheral areas of the Rio de Janeiro Metropolis, where the negative impacts are much greater compared to other areas. Economic security has become more unequal in the Covid-19 pandemic when we compare the inhabitants’ dwelling place, skin color, and gender.

Resumo O artigo procura analisar a importância da religião nas preferências políticas, sociais e econômicas entre os jovens universitários da periferia do Rio de Janeiro. Os dados são o resultado da aplicação de um survey recolhendo as opiniões de estudantes dos cursos de graduação de um campus da Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), localizado em Nova Iguaçu, no coração da baixada fluminense. Uma análise multivariada (análise de componentes principais, clusters kmeans e regressão) dos dados do survey destaca a influência significativa das igrejas evangélicas em diversos assuntos de cunho moral. A pesquisa identifica também uma ampla e difusa demanda por políticas sociais e melhor provisão de bens públicos como saúde e educação.

Abstract This article aims to analyze the importance of religion on political, social and economic preferences among undergraduate students in the periphery of Rio de Janeiro. The data are the result of a survey on the opinions of undergraduate students from a campus of the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRRJ), located in Nova Iguaçu, in the heart of Baixada Fluminense (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). A multivariate analysis (principal component analysis, kmeans clusters and regression) of the survey data highlights the significant influence of evangelical churches on various moral issues. The research also identifies a broad and diffuse demand for social policies and better provision of public goods such as health and education.

Abstract This article analyses the determining factors affecting the land market in Brazil in an international context where the availability of natural resources, essential to satisfy the population worldwide, is again heading the agenda. This scenario provoked a rapid expansion of agribusiness and enhanced international participation based on the relative abundance of natural resources. The first part of this article presents the spatial dynamics surrounding the production of commodities and gives evidence of the sharp increase in land price in Brazil. The second part attempts to understand the factors that affect price dynamics and subsequent effects over capital allocation in the sector, addressing the impact of the recent boom of commodities and rising interest by foreign actors in Brazilian land. The conclusion elaborates on the possible land pricing developments and political unfolding.

This paper presents the main results of a survey that characterizes the key attributes (ownership, operation, relationship) of small food shops in the Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Area. The information gathered show these organizations can be "outdated and inefficient". They are still an important element of local life in the suburbs of large cities. It is stated that the functions and services provided by grocery stores deserve policies designed to improve their capacities and access to intuitions.

En esta investigación se presentan los principales resultados de una encuesta que caracteriza los atributos clave (propiedad, operación, relación, etétera) de las tiendas de alimentos en la Región Metropolitana de Río de Janeiro. Las informaciones recogidas muestran que las tiendas de alimentos pueden ser obsoletas e ineficientes. Pero no dejan de ser un elemento importante de la vida local en las periferias de las grandes ciudades. Se concluyó que las funciones y servicios proporcionados por las tiendas de alimentos merecen políticas diseñadas para mejorar sus capacidades organizativas y su acceso a las instituciones.
