RESUMEN Objetivo: Este artículo analiza la circulación de noticias sobre duelos nacionales e internacionales en la prensa brasileña, las cuales indican hasta qué punto este tema estaba en el ámbito de los intereses y formaba parte de un substrato cultural. Metodología: La investigación se realizó a partir de la colección de la Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira, en la cual mapearon las ocurrencias y el flujo de noticias en periódicos de Río de Janeiro y Río Grande del Sur entre 1910-1930, y se analizaron tres casos que llamaron la atención de la prensa en 1920 (duelo Batlle-Beltrán, desafío Lager-Saguier y Ley del Duelo). Originalidad: En el disputado universo de la circulación de noticias, caracterizado por la abundancia de temas, públicos lectores diversos y medios internacionales de transmisión restringidos, los duelos de diferentes países tuvieron un espacio de difusión y demostraron hacer parte de un entramado de intereses que apuntó hacia el individualismo burgués compartido y su particular noción del honor. Conclusiones: El análisis indicó que la valorización del honor y los duelos fue legitimada, en gran medida, por la circulación de noticias en la prensa. Esta circulación funcionó como un medio de arreglo y distinción a los involucrados a nivel nacional e internacional.

ABSTRACT Objective: This article analyzes the circulation of news about national and international duels in the Brazilian press, which indicates to what extent this topic was in the sphere of interests and was part of a cultural substratum. Methodology: The research was based on the collection of the Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira, where we mapped the occurrences and flow of news between 1910-1930 in newspapers from Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Sul, and analyzed three events that drew the attention of the press in the 1920s (Batlle-Beltrán duel, Lager-Saguier challenge and the Ley del Duelo). Originality: In the disputed universe of news circulation, characterized by the abundance of topics, diverse readership and restricted international means transmission, duels of different countries had a space for dissemination and proved to be part of a network of interests that pointed towards a shared bourgeois individualism and its particular notion of honor. Conclusions: The analysis indicated that the valorization of honor and duels was legitimized largely through the circulation of news in the press. This circulation worked as a means of arrangement and distinction for those involved at national and international levels.

RESUMO Objetivo: Este artigo analisa a circulação de notícias na imprensa brasileira de duelos nacionais e internacionais que indicam o quanto esse assunto compunha o escopo de interesses e formava parte de um substrato cultural nas décadas de 1920 e 1930. Metodologia: A investigação foi realizada a partir do acervo da Hemeroteca Digital Brasileira, no qual foram mapeadas as ocorrências e fluxo de notícias, entre 1910-1930, em jornais do Rio de Janeiro e Rio Grande do Sul, e foram analisados três eventos ocorridos em 1920 que mobilizaram as atenções da imprensa (duelo Batlle-Beltrán, desafio Lager-Saguier e Ley del Duelo). Originalidade: No disputado universo da circulação de notícias, com abundância de temas, públicos leitores diversos e meios de transmissões internacionais restritos, os duelos de diferentes países mereceram espaço de veiculação e demonstraram fazer parte de um rol de interesses que apontou para o individualismo burguês compartilhado e sua particular noção de honra. Conclusões: A análise indicou que a valorização da honra e dos duelos se legitimava, em grande medida, pela circulação de notícias na imprensa. Essa circulação funcionava como recurso de desagravo e de distinção para os envolvidos no âmbito nacional e internacional.

Abstract The tongue participates in the oral phase of swallowing by pushing the food bolus toward the oropharynx. This relationship between tongue function and swallowing is little addressed addressed in individuals with temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD). Objective: To analyze the association of functional tongue conditions on swallowing in individuals with TMD. Methodology: After approval by the Institutional Review Board, the study was conducted on 30 individuals of both sexes, aged 18 to 28 years, with TMD, and not treated for the disorder. Tongue function was assessed as to the mobility, pressure, and oral motor control. Swallowing was analyzed by clinical assessment during ingestion of solid (wafer biscuit) and liquid (water). Data regarding mobility and swallowing were collected using the orofacial myofunctional evaluation protocol. Tongue pressure was measured by the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument, during elevation, protrusion, swallowing, and resistance test. The oral motor control was assessed by the oral diadochokinesis (DDK) test by rapid and repeated emissions of syllables “ta” and “ka”. Data were statistically analyzed by the Spearman correlation coefficient, at a significance level of 5%. Results: Relationships were found between tongue function and swallowing for the following aspects: mobility (r=0.741), pressure in protrusion (r=-0.366), swallowing of saliva (r=-0.499), mean DDK rate in emissions “ta” (r=-0.424) and “ka” (r=-0.446), and mean DDK period in emissions “ta” (r=0.424) and “ka” (r=0.446). Thus, the greater the change in tongue mobility, the lower the tongue pressure in protrusion and swallowing of saliva, the lower the emissions per second, the longer the mean time between vocalizations, and the worse the swallowing of individuals with TMD. Conclusion: The functional conditions of the tongue regarding mobility, pressure, and oral DDK were associated with swallowing in individuals with TMD.

RESUMO Objetivo Este estudo visou validar o Protocolo de Avaliação Miofuncional Orofacial MBGR para adultos com DTM. Método Participaram 30 adultos, sendo 15 com DTM (deslocamento de disco com redução segundo o Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders) e 15 Controles. O processo de validação envolveu a validade de conteúdo, de critério e de construto, além da concordância inter e intra-avaliador, sensibilidade e especificidade. Considerou-se nível de significância de 5%. Resultados Foram confirmadas as validades de conteúdo, visto que o Protocolo MBGR abarca todas as questões funcionais presentes em indivíduos com DTM; de critério, com correlações significantes entre o MBGR e AMIOFE; e de construto, diferenciando indivíduos com e sem DMO quanto à dor à palpação e mobilidade mandibular, com correlação significante entre a avaliação clínica do MBGR e o uso do algômetro digital, bem como confirmação do exame instrumental para a classificação do modo respiratório. A força de concordância variou de pobre a muito boa para a análise interavaliador e de razoável a muito boa para intra-avaliador. Os valores de sensibilidade e especificidade foram elevados. Conclusão O Protocolo MBGR mostrou-se válido para aplicação em adultos com DTM com deslocamento de disco com redução e controles, contemplando todos os aspectos que possibilitam a análise das condições oromiofuncionais nesses indivíduos.

ABSTRACT Purpose This study aimed at validating the MBGR Orofacial Myofunctional Assessment Protocol (MBGR Protocol) for adults with Temporal Mandibular Disorders (TMD). Methods The study sample was composed of 30 adults: 15 with TMD (disc displacement with reduction according to the Research Diagnostic Criteria for Temporomandibular Disorders) and 15 control individuals. The validation process encompassed the content, criterion, and construct of the protocol, as well as its inter- and intra-rater agreement levels and sensitivity and specificity values, considering a 5% statistical significance level. Results The following validities were confirmed: of content, as the MBGR Protocol covers all functional issues present in patients with TMD; of criterion, with significant correlations between the MBGR and Orofacial Myofunctional Evaluation with Scores (OMES) protocols; of construct, differentiating individuals with and without Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD) as for pain on palpation and mandible range of motion, with significant correlation between the MBGR clinical evaluation and that using a digital algometer, as well as confirmation of the instrumental assessment for the breathing mode classification. Agreement ranged from poor to very good and from reasonable to very good for the inter- and intra-rater power analyses, respectively. High sensitivity and specificity values were observed. Conclusion The MBGR Protocol proved to be valid for use in adults presented with TMD with disc displacement with reduction and controls, covering all aspects that enable the analysis of OMD in these individuals.

RESUMO: O presente artigo pretende discutir as relações entre as práticas de duelos de honra com a legislação penal e as fronteiras nacionais. Está organizado em três partes: (a) o Estado nacional e a fronteira, na qual se busca abordar como a historiografia tem lidado com a atuação do Estado nos espaços de fronteira e os aspectos das soberanias justapostas que colocam margens de ação para os indivíduos; (b) as discrepâncias das legislações sobre duelo de honra na Argentina, Brasil e Uruguai e suas soluções jurídicas díspares para o fenômeno; e (c) a busca dos duelistas por territórios neutros, analisando-se casos de duelos em espaços de fronteira. Por fim, pretende-se uma melhor compreensão da honra, e de seus sistemas de defesa, na transição de sociedades aristocráticas para as sociedades burguesas com a necessária reconfiguração de seus significados e uma reestruturação de suas definições sociais.

ABSTRACT This article discusses the relations between the practices of honor duels with criminal law and national frontiers. The article is organized in three parts: (a) the national State and the frontier, approaching how historiography has dealt with the State action in its borders and the aspects of the juxtaposed sovereignties that defines margins of action for the individuals; (b) the discrepancies of the laws regarding honor duels in Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay, and their different legal solutions to the same phenomenon; and (c) the search of the duelists for neutral territories, where cases of duels in border spaces are analyzed. Finally, a better understanding of honor and its defense systems is sought in the transition from aristocratic societies to bourgeois societies with the necessary reconfiguration of its meanings and restructuration of its social definitions.

RESUMO Objetivo: Apresentar valores para a pressão da língua em adultos jovens brasileiros, considerando provas específicas e possíveis diferenças quanto ao gênero e tipo de prova. Método: Foram avaliados 51 voluntários de 18 a 28 anos, ambos os gêneros, com boa relação dento-oclusal e sem alterações de fala. Utilizou-se o Iowa Oral Performance Instrument na avaliação da pressão da língua (Kilopascal) durante as provas de elevação, protrusão, deglutição e lateralização, além do teste de resistência (segundos). Na análise dos resultados foi utilizado o ANOVA, seguido do teste de comparações múltiplas Tukey, adotando o nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: Os valores obtidos, respectivamente para homens e mulheres, na prova de elevação foram 63,94±12,92 e 50,27±15,29, na protrusão 60,22±13,62 e 44,30±12,95, na deglutição 33,94±12,06 e 34,27±13,25, na lateralização à direita 44,15±10,47 e 31,85±8,46, na lateralização à esquerda 43,15±10,22 e 29,55±8,91, e no teste de resistência 24,85±10,95 e 17,35±6,71. Os homens apresentaram valor maior nas provas de protrusão e de lateralização; os valores das provas de protrusão e elevação não diferiram entre si para o gênero masculino, mas foram maiores que a lateralização e a deglutição em ambos os gêneros; não houve diferença na prova de lateralização em relação ao lado em ambos os gêneros. Conclusão: Valores de pressão da língua em adultos jovens brasileiros foram determinados para provas específicas; o gênero influenciou nos valores das provas de protrusão e lateralização; os valores obtidos nas provas de elevação e protrusão foram maiores que na lateralização e deglutição.

ABSTRACT Purpose: To present the measures for tongue pressure in Brazilian young adults, considering specific tasks, and to verify the differences regarding gender and according to the tasks. Methods: Fifty-one volunteers aged 18 to 28 years, of both genders with normal occlusion and without speech disorders were evaluated. We used the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument in the evaluation of tongue pressure (kilopascal) during specific tests of elevation, protrusion, swallowing, and lateralization, in addition to the endurance test (seconds). The analysis was conducted using analysis of variance, followed by the Tukey's multiple comparison test, adopting a 5% significance level. Results: The values obtained for men and women in the tests were as follows: elevation, 63.94±12.92 and 50.27±15.29; protrusion, 60.22±13.62 and 44.30±12.95; swallowing, 33.94±12.06 and 34.27±13.25; lateralization on the right, 44.15±10.47 and 31.85±8.46; lateralization on the left, 43.15±10.22 and 29.55±8.91; and endurance test: 24.85±10.95 and 17.35±6.71, respectively. The values were higher in men compared with women for the protrusion and lateralization tasks. The measures of the protrusion and elevation tasks did not differ for men but were higher in both genders than those of the lateralization and the swallowing tests. There was no difference in lateralization according to side in both the genders. Conclusion: The measures for the tongue pressure in Brazilian young adults were determined by specific tasks. Gender influenced the pressure of the tongue values for the protrusion and lateralization tasks. Elevation and protrusion tasks measures were higher than those of the lateralization and swallowing tasks.

Objetivo investigar as relações enunciativas estabelecidas entre pais e crianças com risco ao desenvolvimento infantil, sobretudo, os efeitos da presença do risco no processo de aquisição da linguagem. Métodos a amostra constituiu o estudo de três crianças que apresentaram risco ao desenvolvimento, acompanhadas de 0 a 18 meses a partir dos Indicadores de Risco ao Desenvolvimento Infantil, bem como, por filmagens da interação dos pais com as crianças. A análise dos dados considerou a perspectiva enunciativa proposta por Carmen Silva (2007, 2009) e a psicanalítica. Resultados nos três casos constatou-se dificuldade de separação da mãe com a criança o que refletiu no processo de semantização da língua, sobretudo, na ampliação dos possíveis interlocutores. Contudo, os sujeitos evidenciaram a possibilidade de domínio semiótico da língua tendo em vista que os três mecanismos enunciativos propostos por Silva (2007). Conclusões o estudo evidenciou que as dificuldades de separação mãe-bebê e a fragilidade da entrada da função paterna obstacularizaram a posição da criança na língua, uma vez que as crianças mostraram-se bastante dependentes da fala dos pais para suas produções.

Purpose to investigate the enunciative relationships which are established between parents and children who have risk factors for infant developmental problems, especially the effects of the risks during the language acquisition process. Methods the sample consisted of study of three children who present risks for development, who were observed from 0 to 18 months through the Clinical Risk Indicators in Child Development, and through filmed samples with parents and children interaction. The data analysis considered the enunciative approach by Carmen Silva (2007, 2009) and the psychoanalytic approach. Results by analyzing the three cases, it was possible to evidence that all of them presented difficulties of mother-baby separation, what reflected in the language semantization process, when the number of interlocutors became higher. However, the subjects evidenced the possibility of language semiotic domain, observing the three enunciative mechanisms proposed by Silva (2007). Conclusions the study evidenced that the difficulties of mother-baby separation and the weak entrance of the paternal function have made the position of the children in the language more difficult, because the children are dependant of parents’ speech for their own productions.

OBJETIVO: analisar a associação entre os estados emocionais maternos depressivo e ansioso, combinados ou de modo isolado, em relação à presença de risco ao desenvolvimento infantil na faixa etária de 0 a 4 meses. MÉTODO: trata-se de estudo observacional, analítico e de coorte. Para a obtenção dos dados foram utilizados os Inventários de Beck de Depressão e de Ansiedade e analisada a interação mãe-bebê a partir do protocolo de índices de risco ao desenvolvimento infantil em uma amostra de 182 díades. RESULTADOS: o percentual de bebês com pelo menos um índice de risco no grupo de mães que apresentaram depressão e ansiedade combinada foi significantemente maior (34,2%; p<0,001) do que nas mães sem alteração emocional. O mesmo foi obtido em relação às mães com algum nível de depressão ou de ansiedade (26,6%; p<0,01). Ainda, obteve-se correlação significante entre os graus de depressão e ansiedade (G= 0,83; p< 0,01e), o que demonstra que mães com maior grau de depressão, também obtiveram maior grau de ansiedade. CONCLUSÕES: houve associação significante entre ansiedade e depressão maternas e presença de risco ao desenvolvimento infantil, o que indica a necessidade de inserção de políticas públicas para o acompanhamento e tratamento de tais díades quando necessário.

PURPOSE: to analyze the association between depression and anxiety maternal emotional states, whether combined or isolated and its relation with child development risk in children with zero to four month old. METHOD: this is an observational, analytic and a cohort research. We utilized the Beck Depression and Anxiety Inventories and Child Development Index Risks Inventory for data collection with 182 pairs of mother-child as for their interaction. RESULTS: the percentage of babies with at least one development risk and maternal and maternal anxiety emotional states when combined (34,2%; p<0,001) was significantly higher than with mothers without altered emotional states. There was a significant correlation between depression and anxiety (G= 0,83; p< 0,01e), that shows that mothers with higher degrees of depression also have anxiety states. CONCLUSION: there was association between maternal depression and anxiety and presence of risk for child development, a fact that shows the need for public health programs in order to care and to treat such pairs, when needed.

Abordamos aqui a possibilidade de detecção do risco e da intervenção precoce do autismo na visão dos médicos. A análise dos resultados de uma pesquisa feita em 2009 com sete pediatras e três neuropediatras de uma cidade da região central do Rio Grande do Sul, utilizando a análise de conteúdo de Bardin (1977) relacionada à Psicanálise, aponta que os diagnósticos de autismo são feitos tardiamente. Os profissionais não estão preparados para a detecção dos sinais de risco, o que não possibilita a intervenção precoce. É necessário, portanto, trabalhar com esses profissionais para indicar-lhes os sinais de risco de autismo.

Babies in risk of autism: the non-looking of a doctor. In this study, it is approached the possibility of risk detection and early autism intervention by medical view. Thus, it's showed the results of a research made with seven pediatrician and three neuro-pediatricians from a central city in Rio Grande do Sul, in 2009, using the content analysis based on Bardin (1997) and related to psychoanalyses. The results pointed that the diagnosis of autism are made late, also the professionals involved are not able to detected the risk signs and this doesn't make early intervention possible. Therefore, it's necessary to work with these professionals to alert them about the risk signs of autism.

TEMA: fatores de risco psíquico ao desenvolvimento infantil e as implicações para a fonoaudiologia. OBJETIVOS: estudar, por meio de uma revisão teórica os riscos psíquicos ao desenvolvimento infantil, com ênfase nos riscos para aquisição da linguagem, e discutir as implicações para a atuação fonoaudiológica em idade precoce. CONCLUSÃO: a partir da literatura revisada, constatou-se que crianças que convivem com riscos biológicos e, sobretudo psíquicos, nos primeiros anos de vida, são mais propensas a desenvolver problemas que podem afetar o seu desenvolvimento. Assim, considera-se a necessidade daatuação fonoaudiológica estar vinculada a uma constante observação dos fatores de risco psíquico ao desenvolvimento infantil e aquisição da linguagem, podendo participar da detecção e estimulação precoces em uma perspectiva promocional.

BACKGROUND: psychical risk factors to child development and implications on speech-language and hearing therapy. PURPOSE: to study, through a theoretical review, the psychical risks to the child development, emphasizing the risks for language acquisition, and discuss the implications on the speech-language and hearing therapy performance for precocious age. CONCLUSION: through reviewed literature, we evidenced that children who live with biological and especially psychic risks, during their first years, are more inclined to develop problems that may come to affect their development. So, we consider the need for speech-language and hearing therapy to be linked to a constant observation of the psychical risk factors to the child development and language acquisition, being this professional able to take part in the precocious detection and stimulation under a promotional perspective.
