RESUMO Objetivo Verificar a ocorrência dos sintomas de disfagia em crianças com fissura labial e/ou palatina pré e pós-correção cirúrgica. Método Trata-se de um estudo observacional do tipo transversal, de caráter quantitativo. Os critérios de inclusão e/ou exclusão foram de portadores de fissura labial e/ou palatina, sem outras síndromes associadas. Os responsáveis responderam a um questionário com questões de caráter recordatório quanto à identificação de ocorrência dos sinais e sintomas: tosse, engasgo, vômito e escape nasal no momento pré-correção cirúrgica, e o seu desaparecimento ou não, pós-correção cirúrgica. Este estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa sob o protocolo número 1573164. Resultados Amostra composta por 23 crianças com idade mediana de 48 meses, sendo a maioria do gênero masculino e portadora de fissura transforame incisivo unilateral. Houve diferença estatística da presença de sintomas de disfagia entre o momento pré e pós-cirúrgico. Conclusão A correção cirúrgica dos portadores de FLP se mostrou um recurso de prevenção da ocorrência dos sintomas de disfagia, quando associada ao tempo adequado da cronologia de intervenção.

ABSTRACT Purpose Determine the occurrence of dysphagia symptoms in children with cleft lip and/or palate (CLP) pre- and post-surgical correction. Methods Quantitative observational cross-sectional study. Existence of clef lip and/or palate without association with other syndromes was the study inclusion and/or exclusion criterion. Parents and/or legal guardians responded to a recall questionnaire on the identification of occurrence of coughing, choking, vomiting, and nasal escape pre- and postoperatively and whether these symptoms disappeared after surgical correction. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the aforementioned Institution under protocol no. 1573164. Results The sample comprised 23 children with mean age of 48 months, mostly male and with unilateral trans-foramen incisor clefts. Statistically significant difference was observed between the pre- and post-surgical periods regarding the presence of dysphagia symptoms. Conclusion Surgical treatment of patients with cleft lip and/or palate proved to be a resource to prevent the occurrence of dysphagia symptoms when associated with adequate intervention chronology.

RESUMO A artrogripose é uma síndrome múltipla congênita rara que se caracteriza por uma série de malformações congênitas e enrijecimento e contrações articulares e não possui caráter progressivo. Trata-se de um estudo de caso clínico, cujo objetivo é descrever a manifestação funcional relacionada à fonoaudiologia através do processo de avaliação em um caso de artrogripose em pediatria. Foi realizada uma análise do prontuário clínico de um paciente desde o nascimento, bem como uma avaliação clínica completa de investigação de disfagia pediátrica, na qual foi estabelecido o diagnóstico de disfagia orofaríngea de grau grave, apontada por alterações no exame funcional e estrutural. Associa-se ao quadro, uma perda auditiva.

ABSTRACT Arthrogryposis is a rare, multiple, congenital syndrome of non-progressive nature characterized by a series of genetic malformations, as well as stiffness and joint contractures. This is a clinical case study whose objective is to describe speech-language pathology disorders through the evaluation process in a case of arthrogryposis in Pediatrics. The medical records of a patient were analyzed from birth. A complete clinical evaluation of pediatric dysphagia was performed, establishing a diagnosis of severe oropharyngeal dysphagia evidenced by functional and structural impairments. Hearing loss was detected in association with this condition.

RESUMO Objetivos: adaptar o Teste de Fala Comprimida e verificar a aplicabilidade do novo teste, correlacionando-o com o original. Métodos: a adaptação do Teste de Fala Comprimida se deu por meio de critério de balanceamento fonético. Foi utilizado um programa de edição (Free audio editor) para recortar as palavras do teste original e gerar um novo arquivo. Mantiveram-se 25 palavras das 50 já existentes no teste original. Para validação foram avaliados 73 indivíduos com faixa etária de 16 a 30 anos, os quais realizaram os procedimentos de Anamnese Audiológica e de Processamento Auditivo, Inspeção Visual do Meato Acústico Externo, Audiometria Tonal Liminar, Logoaudiometria, Medidas de Imitância Acústica, Testes Dióticos, Teste de Fala Comprimida e Teste de Fala Comprimida adaptado. Resultados: foi gerada a nova lista com 25 palavras dissilábicas. Houve diferença entre o número de erros e entre as porcentagens de acertos por orelha, entre o Teste de Fala Comprimida e o adaptado. A força de correlação entre os testes foi moderada, não podendo assim ser utilizados os valores de referência do teste original no instrumento adaptado. Conclusão: foi possível adaptar o Teste de Fala Comprimida constatando uma correlação moderada entre os testes, e verificar a aplicabilidade do Teste de Fala Comprimida Adaptado. Sendo assim, o teste adaptado necessita de novos valores de referência, isto é, de critérios de normalidade.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to adapt the Time-Compressed Speech Test and verify the applicability of the new test, correlating it with the original. Methods: the adaptation of Time-Compressed Speech Test was possible through the criterion of phonetic balance. It was used an editing software called Free Audio Editor to cut the words from the original test and generate the new file. From fifty words already presented in the original test, twenty-five were preserved in the new test. For the validation, were evaluated 73 subjects aged from 16 to 30 years-old, who performed the procedures of Hearing Anamnesis and of Auditory Processing, Visual Inspection of the External Acoustic Canal, Pure Tone Audiometry, Speech Audiometry, Acoustic Immittance Measurement, Diotic Testing, original Time-Compressed Speech Test and adapted Time-Compressed Speech Test. Results: a new list of 25 two-syllable words was created. There were differences between the number of errors and the percentages of correct answers by ear, between the original and the adapted Time-Compressed Speech Test. The strength correlation between the tests was moderate, thus the reference values of the original test could not be used in the adapted instrument. Conclusion: it was possible to adapt the Time-Compressed Speech Test observing a moderate correlation between both tests and verify the applicability of the Adapted Time-Compressed Speech Test. Therefore, the adapted test needs new reference values, in other words, normality criteria are required.

The non-melanoma skin cancer is the most common cancer and accounts for more than half of the diagnoses of cancer, and basal cell carcinoma (BCC), the most frequent cutaneous neoplasm, corresponding to 70-80% of cutaneous tumors. Oxidative stress is an important trigger for skin carcinogenesis. Thus, it is important to evaluate oxidative stress, in order to discern effective therapeutic strategies able to stop it or attenuate it, thereby prevent the installation of non-melanoma skin cancer. Cross-sectional study with controls, involving 84 individuals of both sexes aged between 38-84 years, divided into two groups: control group of healthy people( n = 24) and the case group included individuals who presented non-melanoma skin and they have undergoing surgery (n = 60). The blood samples of the individuals were obtained for evaluation of biomarkers of oxidative stress (F2-isoprostane, nitrite, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) and total antioxidant capacity). The usual dietary intake and nutritional status of the subjects were evaluated. The significance level for this study was 5%. Patients in the case group had higher serum concentrations of biomarkers of oxidative stress, F2-isoprostane concentrations were significantly higher compared to controls. The results showed high rates of overweight and obesity in the case and control groups. The dietary concentrations of antioxidant minerals zinc, copper and selenium in the case group were significantly lower compared to controls. The correlation between markers of oxidative stress and dietary concentrations of antioxidant nutrients showed the influence of food intake of vitamins A and E in reducing oxidative stress, since these nutrients behave as important antioxidants, acting as sweepers of RL, by removing of the body the negative effects on the redox balance of the skin. We emphasize the importance of adopting healthy eating habits that optimize the consumption of antioxidant nutrients as a strategy to prevent oxidative damage to the skin.

El cáncer de piel no melanoma es el cáncer más común y representa más de la mitad de los diagnósticos de cáncer, y el carcinoma de células basales (BCC), la neoplasia cutánea más frecuente, representando el 70-80% de los tumores cutáneos. El estrés oxidativo es un disparador importante en la carcinogénesis de la piel. Por lo tanto, es importante para evaluar el estrés oxidativo, con el fin de prever y estrategias terapéuticas eficaces capaces de detener o mitigar ella, para evitar de este modo la instalación de cáncer de piel no melanoma. Estudio transversal con los controles, con la participación de 84 sujetos de ambos sexos con edades comprendidas entre 38 a 84 años, divididos en dos grupos: grupo control de sujetos sanos (n = 24) personas y el grupo de casos incluyeron los individuos que presentaron para el cáncer de piel no melanoma tiene someterse a la cirugía (n = 60). Las muestras de sangre de los sujetos fueron obtenidos para la evaluación de los biomarcadores de estrés oxidativo (F2-isoprostano, nitritos, sustancias reactivas al ácido tiobarbitúrico (TBARS) y capacidad antioxidante total). Se evaluó la ingesta dietética habitual y el estado nutricional de los sujetos. El nivel de significación para este estudio fue de 5%. Los pacientes en el grupo de casos tenían mayores concentraciones séricas de biomarcadores de estrés oxidativo, las concentraciones de F2-isoprostano fueron significativamente mayor en comparación con los controles. Los resultados mostraron altas tasas de sobrepeso y obesidad en los grupos de casos y controles. Las concentraciones dietéticas de antioxidante minerales de zinc, cobre y selenio en el grupo de casos fueron significativamente más bajos en comparación con los controles. La correlación entre los marcadores de estrés oxidativo y las concentraciones dietéticas de nutrientes antioxidantes destacó la influencia de la ingesta de alimentos de vitaminas A y E en la reducción del estrés oxidativo, ya que estos nutrientes se comportan como antioxidantes importantes, actuando como barrenderos RL, el cuerpo se deshaga de estos efectos negativos sobre el equilibrio redox de la piel. Hacemos hincapié en la importancia de adoptar hábitos de alimentación saludables que optimizan el consumo de nutrientes antioxidantes como estrategia para prevenir el daño oxidativo de la piel.
