Resumo Um macho de Pteronura brasiliensis (Carnivora: Mustelidae) foi encontrado morto às margens do Rio Negro, no Pantanal do estado de Mato Grosso do Sul, município de Aquidauana. Dois carrapatos encontrados aderidos à sua pele foram identificados, morfologicamente, como uma ninfa de segundo ínstar de Ornithodoros rostratus (Argasidae) e um macho de Amblyomma sculptum (Ixodidae). Para complementar a identificação morfológica, esses espécimes de carrapatos foram submetidos à extração de DNA e testados por meio de ensaios de PCR, para confirmar a identidade molecular dos espécimes. Além disso, os extraídos dos carrapatos foram testados e revelaram-se negativos nos ensaios de PCR para todos os patógenos testados. Também foram examinados 30 lotes, compostos por 174 indivíduos de O. rostratus, depositados na Coleção Acari do Instituto Butantan, e encontramos material de quatro estados brasileiros, incluindo-se um lote contendo 2 machos e 2 fêmeas de Aquidauana, estado de Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), coletado do solo. Este foi, portanto, o primeiro registro de O. rostratus parasitando P. brasiliensis e o primeiro registro de localidade (Aquidauana). Da mesma forma, A. sculptum é comumente encontrado no Pantanal e relatado aqui, pela segunda vez, parasitando a ariranha, hospedeiro pouco estudado em relação a ectoparasitas.

Abstract A male of Pteronura brasiliensis (Carnivora: Mustelidae) was found dead on the banks of the Rio Negro, in the Pantanal wetlands of Mato Grosso do Sul state, Aquidauana municipality. Two ticks found attached to its skin were morphologically identified as a second-instar nymph of Ornithodoros rostratus (Argasidae) and a male of Amblyomma sculptum (Ixodidae). In order to complement the morphological identification, these tick specimens were subjected to DNA extraction, and tested using PCR assays to confirm the molecular identity the specimens. Also, the tick DNA samples were tested and were negative in the PCR assays for all the pathogens tested. We also examined 30 batches, consisting of 174 individuals of O. rostratus deposited in the Acari Collection of the Butantan Institute, and we found material from four Brazilian states, including one batch containing 2 males and 2 females from Aquidauana, of Mato Grosso do Sul state, collected from the soil. This was therefore the first record of O. rostratus parasitizing P. brasiliensis and the first locality record (Aquidauana). Likewise, A. sculptum is commonly found in the Pantanal and is reported here for the second time parasitizing the giant otter, which is a host little studied regarding the ectoparasites.

ABSTRACT In this year that follows the Centenary of the Week of 1922, we propose a study on the need to expand concepts of modernity and national identity. From this perspective, it is worth analyzing certain hybrid poetics - such as the narratives of Hélio Serejo and the poetry of rappers Brô MC’s - coming from historically invisible regions, engaged in the defense of new aesthetic codes and knowledge for the construction of a model of Brazilianness free from colonial violence once legitimized in this country.

RESUMO Neste ano que sucede o Centenário da Semana de 22, propomos um estudo sobre a necessidade de expansão dos conceitos de modernidade, literatura e identidade nacional. Nessa perspectiva, convém analisar determinadas poéticas híbridas - como as narrativas de Hélio Serejo e a poesia dos rappers Brô MC’s - advindas de regiões historicamente invisibilizadas, engajadas na defesa de novos códigos estéticos e saberes para a construção de um modelo de brasilidade livre da violência colonial outrora legitimada no território nacional.

Abstract Objective To evaluate clinical characteristics and outcomes of COVID-19 patients infected with HIV, and to compare with a paired sample without HIV infection. Methods This is a substudy of a Brazilian multicentric cohort that comprised two periods (2020 and 2021). Data was obtained through the retrospective review of medical records. Primary outcomes were admission to the intensive care unit, invasive mechanical ventilation, and death. Patients with HIV and controls were matched for age, sex, number of comorbidities, and hospital of origin using the technique of propensity score matching (up to 4:1). They were compared using the Chi-Square or Fisher's Exact tests for categorical variables and the Wilcoxon for numerical variables. Results Throughout the study, 17,101 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 130 (0.76%) of those were infected with HIV. The median age was 54 (IQR: 43.0;64.0) years in 2020 and 53 (IQR: 46.0;63.5) years in 2021, with a predominance of females in both periods. People Living with HIV (PLHIV) and their controls showed similar prevalence for admission to the ICU and invasive mechanical ventilation requirement in the two periods, with no significant differences. In 2020, in-hospital mortality was higher in the PLHIV compared to the controls (27.9% vs. 17.7%; p = 0.049), but there was no difference in mortality between groups in 2021 (25.0% vs. 25.1%; p > 0.999). Conclusions Our results reiterate that PLHIV were at higher risk of COVID-19 mortality in the early stages of the pandemic, however, this finding did not sustain in 2021, when the mortality rate is similar to the control group.

Abstract The risk of pregnancy loss in mares leads to the use of exogenous hormones to help pregnancy maintenance. The objective was to evaluate the proportion of thyroid hormones and steroids in neonates, in the following postpartum period, born to mares fed with synthetic progesterone and to verify the existence of a correlation between the level of progesterone between mother and neonate. Twenty-seven mares and their foals were used. The animals were divided into 5 experimental groups: group 1 (control, without hormonal supplementation), group 2 (random samples fed to 120 days of pregnancy with long-term progesterone), group 3 (mares fed with short-term progesterone as of 280.º day of pregnancy), group 4 (mares fed with long-term progesterone as of 280.º day of pregnancy) and group 5 (mares fed with synthetic hormone [altrenogest] as of 280.º day of pregnancy). The animal’s blood collection took place immediately after parturition for the hormonal measurement. The hormones measured in neonates were total T3, free T4, TSH, progesterone and cortisone. In mares, only levels of progesterone. The groups of neonates showed no difference on levels of total T3, free T4, TSH and progesterone. There was no difference on levels of progesterone in mares among the groups. Neonates from groups 4 and 5 had higher and lower cortisone levels, respectively. No neonate showed clinical change. There was also no correlation between levels of progesterone in mares and foals. Thus, hormonal supplementation with long-term progesterone as of 280 days of pregnancy leds to an increase in the neonate's cortisone levels, in the meantime, supplementation with altrenogest as of 280 days of pregnancy caused a decrease on cortisone levels in foals, despite clinical signs have not been observed on these animals.

ABSTRACT In recent years, a disease called black crust has caused damage to rubber trees in Brazil, since it leads to rapid leaf fall and consequently low latex production. Until the 1990s, black crust was associated with the fungi Phyllachora huberi and Rosenscheldiella heveae, but in 2022, after analysis of samples collected in the states of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, different species of the fungus Cladosporium ssp. were isolated from rubber tree leaves showing black crust in their leaflets. After morphological and phylogenetic analysis, using partial sequences of ITS-5.8S rDNA, α-elongase and actin regions, the isolates were identified as Cladosporium pseudocladosporioides, C. tenuissimum, C. cladosporioides, C. perangustum and C. xanthochromaticum. Pathogenicity tests with these isolates, in a greenhouse, demonstrated rapid appearance of symptoms such as apical death, damage to stems, intense defoliation and presence of black crust on stems and leaves. All isolates were pathogenic but had variable aggressiveness. This is the first report of Cladosporium causing black crust on rubber trees in Brazil.

RESUMO Nos últimos anos, uma doença chamada crosta negra tem causado danos à seringueira no Brasil, pois esta doença causa a rápida queda das folhas e como consequência a baixa produção de látex. Até a década de 1990, a crosta negra era associada aos fungos Phyllachora huberi e Rosenscheldiella heveae, mas em 2022, após análise de amostras coletadas nos estados de Minas Gerais e São Paulo, diferentes espécies do fungo Cladosporium ssp. foram isoladas de folhas com crosta negra em folíolos de seringueira. Após análise morfológica e filogenética, com sequências parciais das regiões ITS-5.8S rDNA, α-elongase e actina, os isolados foram identificados como Cladosporium pseudocladosporioides, C. tenuissimum, C. cladosporioides, C. perangustum e C. xanthochromaticum. Testes de patogenicidade com estes isolados, em casa de vegetação, demonstraram o rápido aparecimento de sintomas como morte apical, danos aos caules, intensa desfolha e presença de crosta negra nos caules e folhas. Todos os isolados foram patogênicos, porém com agressividade variada. Este é o primeiro relato de Cladosporium ssp. causando crosta negra em seringueiras no Brasil.

ABSTRACT Objective: to analyze the constitution of care offered to older adults with disabilities, from Long Term Care Facility professionals’ perspective. Methods: this is a discourse analysis based on the post-structuralist framework. Participants in this study are professionals involved in the care for older adults, totaling 14 respondents, 13 women and one man. Results: from professionals’ perspective, there is a fine line between caring for older adults with disabilities and maintaining their autonomy. Care in which autonomy is restricted predisposes older adults to a process of dependency. Final considerations: caring for older adults with disabilities constitutes the challenge between caring and maintaining independence. Thus, older adult-centered care should be taken as a premise so that their individualities are respected.

RESUMEN Objetivo: analizar la constitución del cuidado ofrecido a los ancianos con discapacidad, en la perspectiva de los profesionales de una Institución de Larga Estancia para Ancianos. Métodos: se trata de un análisis del discurso basado en el marco postestructuralista. Los participantes de este estudio son profesionales involucrados en el cuidado de personas mayores, con un total de 14 encuestados, 13 mujeres y un hombre. Resultados: desde la perspectiva de los profesionales, existe una delgada línea entre cuidar a los ancianos con discapacidad y mantener su autonomía. Los cuidados en los que se restringe la autonomía predisponen al anciano a un proceso de dependencia. Consideraciones finales: el cuidado del anciano con discapacidad constituye el desafío entre cuidar y mantener la independencia. Así, debe tomarse como premisa el cuidado centrado en el anciano, de modo que se respeten sus individualidades.

RESUMO Objetivo: analisar a constituição do cuidado ofertado à pessoa idosa com incapacidades, na perspectiva de profissionais de uma Instituição de Longa Permanência para Idosos. Métodos: trata-se de uma análise do discurso com base no referencial pós-estruturalista. Os participantes deste estudo são profissionais envolvidos no cuidado de pessoas idosas, totalizando 14 entrevistados, sendo 13 mulheres e um homem. Resultados: na perspectiva dos profissionais, existe uma linha tênue entre o cuidar da pessoa idosa com incapacidades e a manutenção da sua autonomia. O cuidado em que a autonomia é restrita predispõe ao processo de dependência da pessoa idosa. Considerações finais: a cuidado à pessoa idosa com incapacidades se constitui o desafio entre cuidar e manter a independência. Assim, deve-se ter como premissa o cuidado centrado na pessoa idosa, para que suas individualidades sejam respeitadas.

Abstract Objectives: to analyze the temporal trend and spatial distribution of infant mortality in Pernambuco from 2001 to 2019. Methods: an ecological study involving all deaths in children under one year of age living in the state. Data were collected from the Mortality Information System and the Live Birth Information System. Four mortality rates were calculated and the temporal analysis was performed by applying the regression model by inflection points of the rates at different spatial levels. Results: 47,949 deaths were recorded, of which 51.0% (n=24,447) occurred in the first six days of life. A statistically significant downward trend was observed in all the rates analyzed (-4.5%/year in overall mortality, -3.6%/year in early neonatal mortality, -1.9%/year in the late neonatal component, and -6.3%/year in the post-neonatal component). Additionally, 64.3% of the municipalities (n=119) showed a declining trend in the overall infant mortality rate. Less than 50% of the municipalities showed a downward trend in early neonatal and late neonatal mortality (41.08%; n=76 and 43.2%; n=80, respectively). In post-neonatal mortality, 57.3% (n=106) showed decreasing trends. Conclusions: there was a temporal trend of decline in overall infant mortality, although there is an important portion of municipalities with a stationary trend, justifying the need to reduce social inequalities and geographical asymmetries.

Resumo Objetivos: analisar a tendência temporal e a distribuição espacial da mortalidade infantil em Pernambuco no período de 2001 a 2019. Métodos: estudo ecológico envolvendo todos os óbitos em crianças menores de um ano residentes no estado. Os dados foram coletados no Sistema de Informações sobre Mortalidade e no Sistema de Informação sobre Nascidos Vivos. Foram calculados quatro coeficientes de mortalidade e a análise temporal foi realizada aplicando o modelo de regressão por pontos de inflexão dos coeficientes em diferentes níveis espaciais. Resultados: foram registrados 47.949 óbitos, dos quais 51,0% (n=24.447) ocorreram nos seis primeiros dias de vida. Foi observada tendência de declínio estatisticamente significativo em todos os coeficientes analisados (-4,5%/ano na mortalidade geral, -3,6%/ano na neonatal precoce, -1,9%/ano no componente neonatal tardio e de -6,3%/ano no componente pós-neonatal). Adicionalmente, 64,3% dos municípios (n=119) apresentaram tendência de declínio no coeficiente de mortalidade infantil geral. Menos de 50% dos municípios apresentaram tendência de redução na mortalidade neonatal precoce e neonatal tardia (41,08%; n=76 e 43,2%; n=80, respectivamente). Na mortalidade pós-neonatal, 57,3% (n=106) apresentaram tendências decrescentes. Conclusões: houve tendência temporal de declínio da mortalidade infantil geral, embora haja importante parcela de municípios com tendência estacionária, justificando a necessidade de reduzir desigualdades sociais e assimetrias geográficas.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to compare the distribution of fat tissue in non-obese women with polycystic ovary syndrome and those without the syndrome using dual-energy radiological densitometry. METHODS: This was a case-control study in which we enrolled women aged 14–39 years with polycystic ovary syndrome according to the Rotterdam criteria with a body mass index between 18.5 and 30 kg/m2. The control group comprised women with the same profile, but without polycystic ovary syndrome. Patients were treated at the Endocrinological Gynecology Outpatient Clinic of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Irmandade da Santa Casa de Misericórdia de São Paulo between 2019 and 2022. Anthropometric measurements were taken and the assessment of body composition was performed using dual-energy radiological densitometry. RESULTS: The sample comprised 57 women: 37 in the polycystic ovary syndrome group and 20 in the control group. The mean age of the polycystic ovary syndrome group was 24.9 years (±6.9) with a mean body mass index of 60.8 kg/m2 (±8.5), and for the control group, it was 24.2 years (±6.9) with a mean body mass index of 58 kg/m2 (±8.4). Body composition was evaluated using dual-energy radiological densitometry and showed a higher value of trunk fat in the polycystic ovary syndrome group (44.1%, ±9.0) compared to the control group (35.2%, ±11.4), which was statistically significant (p=0.002). CONCLUSION: Our study showed that non-obese polycystic ovary syndrome patients have a higher concentration of abdominal fat, which is a risk factor for increased cardiovascular risk and insulin resistance. Resumo A construção civil possui características peculiares, como baixa comunicação entre os projetistas e os responsáveis técnicos pela execução da obra, além de grande rotatividade de operários, o que gera dificuldades para implantação de uma cultura de segurança eficaz. O surgimento de tecnologias vem contribuindo para a melhoria da comunicação e segurança, um exemplo é o Building Information Modeling (BIM), que possibilita a modelagem computacional da obra, que oferece dados detalhados do seu andamento ainda na fase de projeto. Esta pesquisa objetiva realizar a modelagem de uma obra vertical de interesse social. A modelagem baseou-se nos padrões estabelecidos pela NR 18. Finalizada a modelagem, os resultados foram confrontados com o cenário real da obra objetivando avaliar incompatibilidades com o que se é exigido pela NR. Para a modelagem utilizou-se os softwares Revit, MS Project e Naviswork. Concluiu-se que a obra não atendia alguns aspectos exigidos pela NR, além de falta de projetos, erros de dimensionamento e problemas de execução. Quanto aos responsáveis técnicos pela obra, foi avaliado que o uso do BIM em sua obra poderia trazer benefícios para o seu trabalho e facilitar a tomada de decisões.

Abstract Civil construction has peculiar characteristics such as low communication between the designers and the site managers, in addition to a high turnover of construction workers, which creates difficulties to implement an effective safety culture. The emergence of technologies has contributed to the improvement of communication and security, an example is Building Information Modeling (BIM) that allows the computational modeling of the work, which provides detailed data of its progress even in the design phase. This research aims to model a vertical work of social interest. The modeling was based on the standards defined by NR 18. After the modeling was completed, the results were compared with the real scenario of the construction, aiming to assess incompatibilities with what is required by NR. For modeling, the software Revit, MS Project, and Naviswork were used. It was concluded that the work did not meet some aspects required by NR, in addition to a lack of projects, design errors, and execution problems. As for the site managers, it was evaluated that the use of BIM in their construction sites could bring benefits to their work and facilitate decision making.

Abstract Cross-link density impacts most mechanical properties of rubber, therefore it is necessary to have a method to measure it. The most widely used method is via equilibrium swelling, however, it is time consuming and uses organic solvents. Dynamic Shear Test (DST) can be used to calculate both chemical and physical cross-links in rubber compounds in shorter times than by swelling equilibrium method, and without the use of solvents. In this work, equilibrium swelling using toluene and acetone was used to validate the dynamic shear tests for different nitrile rubber (NBR) compounds. The DST had a good correlation with the swelling equilibrium method using acetone, with a correlation coefficient of ~0,91, validating the use of DST. Moreover, the use of the Modified Guth-Gold equation (instead of Guth-Gold Equation with Medalia correction) also allowed to deduct the effect of carbon black on the cross-link density from the DST.

RESUMO Objetivos: investigar intercorrências respiratórias no primeiro ano de vida de prematuros não contemplados com anticorpo monoclonal palivizumabe. Métodos: estudo de coorte retrospectivo, analítico, com prematuros nascidos entre 2012 e 2016, em Uberlândia, MG. Coleta realizada de janeiro a novembro de 2018, em prontuários hospitalar e da atenção básica. Utilizou-se modelo de regressão de Poisson; considerou-se p<0.05. Resultados: de 5.213 nascimentos prematuros, 504 (9,7%) atenderam os critérios; esses prematuros tiveram 2.899 atendimentos na atenção básica; 1.098 (37,5%) com diagnóstico médico, 803 (78,5%) do trato respiratório. Prematuros com fórmula láctea na alta hospitalar tiveram mais diagnósticos de doenças respiratórias. Idade materna (p=0,039), diagnóstico respiratório na alta (p=0,028), número de consultas eventuais (p<0,001) apresentaram associação significativa com bronquiolite. Consultas eventuais foram significantes para doenças respiratórias; o aleitamento materno mostrou-se protetor para bronquiolite. Conclusões: prematuros sem palivizumabe apresentaram elevado percentual de doenças respiratórias; observou-se efeito protetor do aleitamento materno. Recomenda-se vigilância desses prematuros na atenção primária.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the occurrence of respiratory complications over the first year of life in preterm infants who did not receive palivizumab monoclonal antibodies. Methods: analytical retrospective cohort study with preterm infants born between 2012 and 2016 in Uberlândia, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data collection occurred from January to November 2018, by consulting hospital and primary healthcare medical records. Data were processed with the Poisson regression model, with p<0.05. Results: of a total of 5,213 preterm births, 504 (9.7%) met the inclusion criteria. The preterm infants in this subset were assisted 2,899 times in primary care, which resulted in 1,098 (37.5%) medical diagnoses, of which 803 (78.5%) involved the respiratory tract. Preterm babies fed on formula milk at hospital discharge had more diagnoses of respiratory diseases. Maternal age (p=0.039), respiratory diagnosis at hospital discharge (p=0.028), and number of sporadic appointments (p<0.001) showed a significant association with bronchiolitis; number of sporadic appointments showed a significant association with occurrence of respiratory diseases; and breastfeeding had a protective effect against the development of bronchiolitis. Conclusions: preterm infants who did not receive palivizumab showed a high percentage of respiratory diseases, and breastfeeding helped protect them against bronchiolitis. It is recommended that these preterm babies be monitored in primary health care.

Resultados: de 5.513 nacimientos prematuros, 504 (9,7%) atendieron criterios; estos prematuros recibieron 2.899 consultas en atención básica; 1.098 (37,5%) con diagnóstico médico; 803 (78,5%) del tracto respiratorio. Prematuros con fórmula láctea al alta hospitalaria recibieron más diagnósticos de enfermedades respiratorias. Edad materna (p=0,039), diagnóstico respiratorio al alta (p=0,028), cantidad de consultas eventuales (p<0,001) mostraron asociación significativa con bronquiolitis. Conclusiones: prematuros sin palivizumab mostraron elevado porcentaje de enfermedades respiratorias; se observó efecto protector de la lactancia materna. Se recomienda el seguimiento de dichos prematuros en atención primaria.

Resumo Objetivo analisar a constituição do discurso da autonomia da pessoa idosa em uma Instituição de Longa Permanência, na perspectiva de profissionais e de idosas institucionalizadas. Método pesquisa qualitativa, desenvolvida na perspectiva do referencial pós-estruturalista, realizada em uma instituição filantrópica da cidade de Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brasil. Os dados foram coletados no período de janeiro a março de 2018, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, com 13 profissionais e sete idosas, análise documental e observação e foram submetidos à análise de discurso. Resultados os efeitos da institucionalização na constituição da autonomia das idosas pode ser observado nos discursos das idosas e dos profissionais. A Instituição se constitui num local de disciplina, com rotinas bem estabelecidas, com pouco espaço para a tomada de decisão das idosas. Sua autonomia fica esquecida, pois as rotinas, de certa forma, encobrem seus desejos, suas escolhas e sua própria liberdade. Conclusão para um funcionamento adequado da estrutura, limites e regras fazem-se necessários. Entretanto, é importante considerar que as normas não são utilizadas, unicamente, como instrumento de controle e cerceamento do exercício de tomada de decisão das idosas. A transição epidemiológica exige das instituições mudanças em suas práticas cotidianas, advindas de políticas públicas específicas para as instituições, com a definição clara de seu papel e diretrizes para uma prática qualificada.

Abstract Objective to analyze the constitution of autonomy discourse of the older person in a Long-Term Institution, from the perspective of professionals and institutionalized older person women. Method qualitative research, developed from the perspective of the post-structuralist framework, fulfilled in a philanthropic institution in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Data were collected, from January to March 2018, through semi-structured interviews with 13 professionals and seven older person women, document analysis and observation and were submitted to discourse analysis. Results the effects of institutionalization on the constitution of the older person’s autonomy can be observed in the speeches of the older person and professionals. The Institution is a place of discipline, with well-established routines, with little space for older person women to make decisions. Their autonomy is forgotten, because routines, in a way, cover up their desires, their choices and their own freedom. Conclusion for a proper functioning of the structure, limits and rules are necessary. However, it is important to consider that the standards are not used solely as an instrument for controlling and restricting the older person women’s decision-making exercise. The epidemiological transition requires from institutions changes in their daily practices, arising from specific public policies for institutions, with a clear definition of their role and guidelines for a qualified practice.

RESUMO: A mensuração do hormônio adrenocorticotrófico endógeno (ACTHe) é útil na investigação do hipercortisolismo e hipoadrenocorticismo. No entanto, como o hormônio é bastante instável, as amostras de sangue necessitam um manejo adequado no processamento e armazenamento, assim como o envio para laboratórios pode ser um passo limitante, uma vez que poucos laboratórios oferecem este ensaio no Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho foi comparar a estabilidade pré-analítica do ACTHe durante longo período de envio de amostras congeladas em gelo seco (GS), ou com barras de gelo reciclável (BGR). Um total de 56 amostras pareadas para mensuração de ACTHe foram analisadas. As amostras de sangue foram adequadamente manejadas, sendo o plasma transferido para micro tubos plásticos estocados a -80ºC. Os 56 pares de amostras foram enviados à tarde para chegada ao laboratório na manhã seguinte em dois isopores, um com GS e outro com BGR. Apesar de uma alta correlação entre os resultados dos diferentes métodos de envio (r Spearman = 0,958, P<0,001), o teste de Wilcoxon para amostras pareadas mostrou que o método de envio influencia os resultados P<0,001). Apesar desta diferença, os resultados não afetaram a interpretação dos resultados. Desta forma, quando o envio em gelo seco não for possível, o envio das amostras com barras de gelo reciclável pode representar um risco à estabilidade pré-analítica do ACTHe.

ABSTRACT: Endogenous adrenocorticotrophic hormone (eACTH) measurement is useful in hypercortisolism and hypoadrenocorticism investigation; however, since the hormone is highly unstable, blood samples require proper processing and storage, as well as shipping is often a step limiting since few laboratories offer this assay in Brazil. The aim of this note was to compare overnight dog´s eACTH preanalytical stability when frozen samples were shipped in dry ice (DI), or with recyclable ice bars (RIB). A total of 56 paired samples for eACTH measurement were analyzed. Blood samples were properly handled, plasma aliquots transferred into plastic microtubes, and stored at -80ºC. The fifty-six paired samples were overnight shipped in two thermic isolated boxes with DI or involved by RIB. Despite there was a high correlation between results from both shipping methods (r Spearman = 0.958, P<0.001), the Wilcoxon matched-pairs rank test showed that the shipping method may influence results (P<0.001). However, this difference does not affect results interpretation. By this way, when DI shipping was not possible, RIB shipping may represent a risk to eACTH preanalytical stability.

Resumo O crescimento da indústria da construção civil é de grande importância para a manutenção e sustentação da economia brasileira, mas essa indústria utiliza grande quantidade de recursos naturais e consequentemente gera grandes volumes de resíduos de construção civil (RCC). Esforços na minimização de RCC geralmente estão direcionados aos estágios de construção das obras, mas não ao estágio de projetos. Assim, a tecnologia BIM surge como uma importante ferramenta ao possibilitar uma melhor análise e controle da geração de resíduos. Este trabalho propõe um modelo BIM para estimar o RCC e o custo de retirada na fase de projeto, pois nela ainda são inexistentes ações visando estimar o resíduo a ser gerado em uma obra. Para isso, utilizaram-se etapas como a revisão sistemática da literatura, levantamento de índices de perdas e modelagem BIM. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que 10% dos RCC quantificados pertencem à classe B, e 90%, à classe A, sendo a argamassa o material com o maior potencial de desperdício, 56% da estimativa total. A modelagem através de dados estatísticos e indicadores pode contribuir na elaboração do plano de gerenciamento de resíduos de construção civil (PGRCC), aperfeiçoando, dessa forma, o planejamento, com redução do RCC.

Abstract The construction industry is certainly fundamental to the Brazilian economy, but the high consumption of raw materials involved is cause for environmental concern, especially due to the huge amount of waste it generates. Actions to reduce construction waste (CW) are taken solely in the actual construction stage, not in the design stages. In this scenario, BIM technology can be used to better analyse and control waste generation. This paper presents a BIM model that allows contractors to estimate the volume and disposal cost of CW in the design stage, before any construction activities have been performed. A systematic literature review provided a correct selection of construction material waste factors and BIM modelling methods. Calculations revealed that 10% of CW is class B and 90% is class A. Mortar was found to be the material with the highest waste rate, 56% of the total waste volume estimate. These findings demonstrate that BIM modelling can produce reliable data, which will help contractors to create a Construction Waste Management Plan (CWMP), thus improving CW planning and reduction.
