RESUMO Tylenchulus semipenetrans é o principal nematoide em citros, amplamente disseminado nos pomares citrícolas brasileiros, causando perdas que variam de 10 a 30%. Assim, o objetivo dessa pesquisa foi estudar o comportamento de T. semipenetrans em pomar de 14 anos de laranja ‘Pera Rio’ enxertada em limoeiro ‘Cravo’, determinando sua flutuação populacional e correlacionando a produção com os níveis populacionais do nematoide. As amostragens foram realizadas no final de cada estação climática, em dois períodos, um de setembro de 2011 à junho de 2012 e outro de março à dezembro de 2013, numa profundidade de 0-30 cm em 10 plantas sem sintomas, 10 plantas com sintomas e suas adjacentes, totalizando 60 plantas . Os nematoides presentes no solo foram extraídos pela metodologia de flutuação em centrifuga e das raízes pela técnica do liquidificador e centrifugação. Na safra 2012/2013, os frutos de cada planta foram colhidos e pesados. O número de nematoides no solo e na raiz foram plotados em gráficos e correlacionados com dados de temperatura e precipitação pluviométrica pela análise de Pearson; enquanto que os dados de peso de fruto por planta e número de nematoides em solo e raiz, de cada época, foram transformados e submetidos à análise de correlação de Spearman (P=0,05). O maior nível populacional de T. semipenetrans ocorreu no final do inverno e o mais baixo no final da primavera, sendo mais comumente encontrado nas raízes. Temperaturas na faixa de 20oC são favoráveis para melhor desenvolvimento de T. semipenetrans.

ABSTRACT Tylenchulus semipenetrans is the main nematode affecting citrus; it is widespread among Brazilian citrus orchards, causing losses that range from 10 to 30%. The aim of this study was to investigate the behavior of T. semipenetrans in a 14-year-old orchard of ‘Pera Rio’ orange grafted onto ‘Rangpur’ lime, determining its population dynamics and correlating production with the population levels of this nematode. Samples were taken at the end of each weather station, in two periods: from September 2011 to June 2012 and from March to December 2013, at a depth of 0-30 cm, from 10 plants without symptoms, 10 with symptoms and their adjacent plants, totaling 60 plants. The nematodes present in the soil were extracted based on flotation method in a centrifuge, while those in the roots, based on blender technique and centrifugation. In the 2012/2013 harvest, the fruits of each plant were collected and weighed. The number of nematodes in the soil and in the roots were plotted on graphs and correlated with temperature and precipitation data according to Pearson’s analysis, while data of fruit weight per plant and number of nematodes in the soil and roots, in each period, were transformed and subjected to Spearman’s correlation analysis (P-0.05). The largest population level of T. semipenetrans occurred in late winter and the lowest one in late spring, and it was most commonly found in roots. Temperatures in the range of 20°C are favorable for better development of T. semipenetrans.

RESUMO A soja é considerada uma das mais importantes culturas do agronegócio no Brasil. Os levantamentos populacionais de fitoparasitos, é uma ferramenta importante na presença de nematoides e na detecçao dos prejuizos. O presente estudo teve como objetivo, utilizando como ferramenta, a geoestatística, verificar a variabilidade espacial de Meloidogyne javanica em duas lavouras de soja, uma apresentando plantas com sintomas característicos do parasitismo do nematoide e outra área com plantas sem sintomas. O estudo foi realizado no município de Araruna, estado do Paraná, ambas cultivadas com soja cultivar BMX Potência RR. Coletaram-se solo e raiz seguindo malha irregular de 50 pontos georreferenciados. Para verificar a existência e estimar o grau de dependência espacial entre as populações, utilizou-se a análise geoestatística. Após o ajuste do variograma foi realizado a krigagem e sequencialmente o mapa de distribuição espacial de nematoides nas áreas. Todo processo geoestatístico foi realizado com o programa computacional GS+. Somente em quatro pontos foram detectados nematoides nas amostras de solo, e em baixo nível populacional, por isso, tais dados não foram analisados com a geoestatística. Na área apresentando plantas amareladas e com tamanho reduzido, em 60% das amostras foi detectado a presença de M. javanica, sendo que a população obtida variou de 0 a 70.992 nematoides em 10g de raiz, com média de 3.807. O variograma ajustou-se ao modelo esférico, com alcance de 30,80 m e dependência espacial de 86%, nesse caso seria necessária a coleta de nove subamostras para representar um hectare de forma satisfatória. Na área onde não foram observadas plantas com sintomas visíveis, 38% das amostras estavam com M. javanica, e com baixo nível populacional. A população obtida variou de 0 a 2.184 nematoides em 10g de raiz, com media de 262. O alcance obtido foi de 11,60 m, com dependência espacial de 99% e ajuste ao modelo gaussiano, já nesse caso, seria necessária a coleta de 74 subamostras para a representação satisfatória de um hectare. A análise geoestatística mostrou-se eficiente para estudos de distribuição espacial de nematoides fitoparasitas.

ABSTRACT Soybean is considered one of the most important crops for agribusiness in Brazil. Surveys of plant parasitic populations constitute an important tool to detect the presence of nematodes and losses. This study aimed to use geostatistics as a tool to check the spatial variability of Meloidogyne javanica in two soybean crops, one of which presented plants with symptoms characteristic of nematode parasitism and the other area had plants without symptoms. The study was conducted in the city of Araruna, Paraná State, and both areas were cultivated with soybean cultivars BMX Power RR. Soil and root were collected by following irregular grid of 50 georeferenced points. To check and estimate the degree of spatial dependence among the populations, geostatistical analysis was used. After adjusting the variogram, kriging and sequentially the spatial distribution map of nematodes in the areas were obtained. The whole geostatistical process was carried out with the computer program GS +. Only at four points, nematodes were detected in soil samples and at low population level; thus, such data were not analyzed by means of geostatistics. In the area presenting yellowish plants reduced in size, the presence of M. javanica was detected in 60% of the samples, where the obtained population ranged from 0 to 70,992 nematodes in 10g root, with an average of 3,807. The variogram fit to the spherical model, with a range of 30.80 m and spatial dependence of 86%; then, the collection of nine subsamples would be required to satisfactorily represent a hectare. In the area where plants with visible symptoms were not observed, 38% of the samples had M. javanica and at low population level. The obtained population ranged from 0 to 2,184 nematodes in 10g root, with an average of 262. The obtained range was 11.60 m, with spatial dependence of 99% and fitting to the Gaussian model, since in this case the collection of 74 subsamples would be required for satisfactory representation of a hectare. The geostatistical analysis was efficient for spatial distribution studies of plant parasitic nematodes.

Várias espécies de fitonematoides já foram relatadas em pomares de citros, porém poucas são consideradas praga-chave para a cultura. No Brasil, Tylenchulus semipenetrans é o principal nematoide em citros, amplamente disseminado nos pomares brasileiros. Diferentes variáveis são utilizadas para determinar o nível de dano desse nematoide. Sendo assim, esse experimento teve por objetivo correlacionar o número de fêmeas com o número de juvenis de T. semipenetrans em amostras de solo e raiz de laranja 'Pera Rio' enxertada em limoeiro 'Cravo'. O trabalho foi realizado em pomar de 14 anos, localizado na Fazenda São Gabriel, distrito de Vitoriana, município de Botucatu - SP. A coleta das amostras foi realizada em setembro de 2011, numa profundidade de 0-30 cm, em 10 plantas sem sintomas, 10 com sintomas e as adjacentes das plantas sintomáticas, totalizando 60 plantas. Para extração dos nematoides presentes no solo seguiu-se a metodologia de flutuação em centrífuga e para a dos nematoides nas raízes seguiu-se a técnica do liquidificador e centrifugação. Para contagem das fêmeas, 1 g de raiz de cada amostra foi colorida. Os dados de nematoide no solo, nematoide na raiz, soma de nematoide no solo e raiz e fêmeas por grama de raiz foram submetidos à análise de correlação de Pearson e posteriormente à análise de matriz de correlações. Dentre os dados analisados, pode-se verificar uma forte correlação entre o número de juvenis presentes na raiz e a soma do número de juvenis no solo e na raiz. Entretanto, não foi constatado correlação desta variável com o número de fêmeas na raiz e o número de juvenis no solo. O número de fêmeas na raiz não apresentou correlação com nenhuma das outras variáveis analisadas. Conclui-se que a melhor variável para determinar a população de T. semipenetrans é o número de juvenis por 10 g de raiz.

Several phytonematode species have been reported for citrus orchards, but few are considered key pests for this crop. In Brazil, Tylenchulus semipenetrans is the main nematode of citrus orchards widely spread among the country. Different variables are used to determine the level of damage caused by this nematode. Thus, this experiment aimed to correlate the number of females with the number of juveniles of T. semipenetrans in samples of soil and root from 'Pera Rio' orange grafted onto 'Rangpur' lime. The study was conducted in a 14-year-old orchard, located at São Gabriel Farm, Vitoriana District, Botucatu - SP. Sampling was performed in September 2011 at a depth of 0-30 cm, using 10 plants without symptoms, 10 plants with symptoms and plants adjacent to symptomatic ones, totaling 60 plants. For extraction of the nematodes present in the soil, the methodology of centrifugal flotation was adopted, while for the nematodes in the roots the technique using blender and centrifugation was employed. To count the number of females, 1g root of each sample was colored. The data about soil nematode, root nematode, sum of soil and root nematode and females per gram of root were subjected to Pearson's correlation analysis and subsequently to correlation matrix. Considering the analyzed data, there was a strong correlation between the number of juveniles present in the root and the sum of the number of juveniles present in the soil and the root. However, there was no correlation of this variable with the number of females in the root and the number of juveniles in the soil. The number of females in the root was not correlated with any of the other analyzed variables. It is concluded that the best variable to determine the population of T. semipenetrans is the number of juveniles per 10 g of root.

A seringueira, Hevea brasiliensis, é nativa da região Amazônica e a espécie mais importante do gênero. O estado de São Paulo é o maior produtor nacional com uma área plantada de cerca de 90.000 hectares. Por muito tempo as mudas de seringueira foram produzidas diretamente no solo ou em sacolas plásticas com substrato a base de terra de barranco sem tratamento, o que propiciou a disseminação de pragas e patógenos do sistema radicular. O objetivo do presente estudo foi determinar a incidência de fitonematoides em seringais do estado de São Paulo. Foi realizada a amostragem de 75 seringais distribuídos em 64 municípios do Estado, no período de 2011 e 2012. As amostragens foram realizadas em solo e raiz de seringais georreferenciados, com mais de oito anos de produção, formados com diferentes clones, com predominância do clone RRIM 600. As amostras foram acondicionadas em sacos plásticos, etiquetados e encaminhadas ao Laboratório de Nematologia da FCA/UNESP, Botucatu, SP, onde foram processadas para extração dos nematoides. Pratylenchus brachyurusfoi encontrado em 66% dos municípios amostrados. Nematoides do gênero Meloidogyne,tiveram ocorrência em 49,3% dos municípios. Os nematoides dos gêneros Rotylenchuluse Paratrichodorusforam detectados em 5,3% e 2,6% das amostras, respectivamente. Representantes da família Criconematidae foram encontrados em 1,3% dos seringais amostrados. De acordo com os resultados obtidos, observa-se que P. brachyuruse o gênero Meloidogynejá se encontram distribuidos na maioria dos cultivos de seringueira do estado, porém, em nível populacional relativamente baixo.

The rubber tree, Hevea brasiliensis, is native to the Amazon region and is the most important species of its genus. The state of São Paulo is the largest national producer, showing a planted area of approximately 90,000 hectares. For a long time, rubber tree seedlings were produced directly in the soil or in plastic bags containing ravine soil-based substrate without treatment, which led to the spread of pests and pathogens of the root system. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of nematodes in rubber plantations of São Paulo State. Sampling of 75 rubber plantations spread over 64 cities in the state was done in the period between 2011 and 2012. The samples were taken from the soil and the root of georeferenced rubber trees with more than eight years of production and formed with different clones, predominating clone RRIM 600. The samples were packed in plastic, labeled bags and sent to the Laboratory of Nematology, FCA / UNESP, Botucatu, SP, where they were processed for extraction of nematodes. Pratylenchus brachyuruswas found in 66% of the sampled cities. Nematodes of the genus Meloidogyneoccurred in 49.3% of the cities. Nematodes of the genus Rotylenchulusand Paratrichodoruswere detected in 5.3% and 2.6% of the samples, respectively. Representatives of the Criconematidae family were found in 1.3% of the sampled rubber plantations. According to the results, P. brachyurusand the genus Meloidogyneare already distributed over most rubber tree plantations in the state, but at relatively low population level.
