ABSTRACT User behavior is one of the main factors of uncertainty in the thermal performance of a dwelling. This study contributes to identifying variables that would influence the user behavior and, in turn, how these affect the thermal performance of houses located in the city of Mendoza. For this, a thermal audit of a representative dwelling was made in summer and winter, while also recording occupancy and occupant actions. It was concluded that, in summer, correct management of the envelope through night cooling favors reaching indoor comfort in 89% of the recorded data. In winter, the correct use of direct solar gain favors reaching comfort in 60% of the recorded data. Finally, alternatives for building improvements are evaluated for the most unfavorable season.

RESUMEN El comportamiento del usuario es uno de los principales factores de incertidumbre en el desempeño térmico de una vivienda. El presente estudio contribuye a identificar variables que influyen en la conducta del usuario y, a su vez, en cómo ésta afecta el desempeño térmico de viviendas en la ciudad de Mendoza. En ese sentido, se realizó una auditoría térmica de una vivienda representativa, en verano e invierno, elaborando en forma paralela un registro de uso y gestión de los habitantes. Se concluye que, en verano, una correcta gestión de la envolvente mediante la ventilación nocturna favorece el logro de confort interior en un 89% de los datos registrados; y, en invierno, un correcto aprovechamiento de la ganancia solar directa favorece el logro de confort en un 60% de dichos datos. Se evalúan, finalmente, alternativas de mejora edilicia para la estación más desfavorable.

ABSTRACT: Zero Energy Buildings (ZEB) promote a comprehensive view of sustainable architecture and a profound change in the way to build. Research and development in energy transition must necessarily face technological and socio-economic issues. In that line, the goal here is to offer a response to minimize the building sector’s energy and environmental impact. To this end, a review of the state of the art of the subject was carried out, where 97 scientific articles from a period comprising 2006 to 2020, considered the most pertinent, were selected. The methodology consisted of analyzing these texts based on ten questions formulated to address the subject: their origins, current status and future projections regarding energy efficiency and sustainability. The questions refer to definitions (Q1), sustainability (Q2), technologies involved (Q3), emissions (Q5), energy (Q4) (Q6) (Q7), regulations (Q8), climate change (Q9), and future projections (Q10). The work allows concluding that ZEB are integrated in a holistic way in the transformation towards a renewable and sustainable future in terms of energy solutions and, in turn, they have the potential to be implemented in different geographical and climatic positions.

RESUMEN: arquitectura sustentable y un cambio profundo en la manera de construir. La investigación y el desarrollo en transición energética deben necesariamente enfrentarse a problemas tecnológicos y socioeconómicos. En esa línea, la meta aquí es ofrecer una respuesta para minimizar el impacto energético y ambiental del sector edilicio. Se realizó, para ello, una revisión del estado del arte de la temática, donde se seleccionaron 97 artículos científicos considerados de mayor relevancia, en el período de 2006 a 2020. La metodología consistió en un análisis de esos textos a partir de diez preguntas formuladas para abordar la temática: sus orígenes, estado actual y proyecciones futuras en relación a la eficiencia energética y la sustentabilidad. Las preguntas hacen referencia a definiciones (P1), sustentabilidad (P2), tecnologías involucradas (P3), emisiones (P5), energía (P4) (P6) (P7), normativas (P8), cambio climático (P9) y proyecciones futuras (P10). El trabajo permite concluir que los ZEB se integran de manera holística en la transformación hacia un futuro renovable y sustentable en materia de soluciones energéticas y, a su vez, tienen potencialidad para ser implementados en diferentes posiciones geográficas y climáticas.

ABSTRACT: The proposal of energy efficiency measures in the residential sector in Argentina requires analyzing the architectonic possibilities of building rehabilitation using technologies that reduce energy consumption, that are feasible to implement locally. In regions with high solar radiation levels, as is the case of the city of Mendoza, heat fluxes transmitted inside can be reduced by the natural ventilation of the layers in the envelope, both on facades and roofs, thus obtaining significant savings in consumption for cooling purposes. This work evaluates the potential for improvement with the integration of ventilated envelopes. The work methodology is structured in two stages: i) survey of residential buildings by morphological typology and analysis of rehabilitation possibilities with ventilated facades, considering the exposed envelope surfaces by orientation; ii) simulation of a case study - previously validated with onsite measurements - using the EnergyPlus software. On integrating ventilated facades and roofs important energy savings of around 32% were achieved, considering the building without users (unoccupied). In the case of units on the top floor, with roofs exposed to the outside, energy savings of 260% were recorded.

RESUMEN: La propuesta de medidas de eficiencia energética en el sector residencial de Argentina requiere el análisis de las posibilidades arquitectónicas de rehabilitación edilicia con tecnologías que disminuyan los consumos energéticos, factibles de implementarse a nivel local. En regiones con alto nivel de radiación solar, como es el caso de la ciudad de Mendoza, pueden reducirse los flujos de calor transmitidos al interior mediante la ventilación natural de las capas en la envolvente -tanto en fachadas como en cubiertas-, obteniéndose así importantes ahorros en los consumos para refrigeración. El presente trabajo evalúa el potencial de mejora con la integración de envolventes ventiladas. La metodología del trabajo se estructura en dos etapas: i) relevamiento de edificios residenciales, según la tipología morfológica, y análisis de las posibilidades de rehabilitación con fachada ventilada, de acuerdo a las superficies de envolvente expuesta por orientación; ii) simulación de un caso de estudio -previamente validado con mediciones in situ- con el software EnergyPlus. Al integrar fachadas y cubiertas ventiladas se lograron importantes ahorros energéticos del orden del 32%, considerando al edificio sin usuarios (desocupado). Para el caso de las unidades del último piso, con cubiertas expuestas al exterior se registraron ahorros energéticos del 260%.

ABSTRACT: The aim of the paper is to assess the usefulness of infrared thermography for a quick diagnostic of the thermal performance of the existing building stock. A representative housing case study in the city of Mendoza (32º40’SL, 68º51’WL, 750m above sea level) was selected and infrared imaging was carried out with a low cost thermograph camera (FLIR i3) at two times every day, in the late evening (8 pm) and in the early morning (7 am), for avoiding possible mistakes due to incident direct solar radiation. Emissivity was introduced in the camera according with local material studies. At the same time continuous measurement of air temperature inside and outside were taken with data-loggers with the objective of examining in detail the obtained results by the thermographic survey. Because the case studied has a high thermal inertia the survey in the evening shows better the different behaviour of construction materials. It is concluded that the thermogaphic survey resulted a valuable tool for quick thermal diagnostic in building certification if a specific protocol is followed in order to obtain accurate results.

RESUMEN: El objetivo de este trabajo es valorar la utilidad de la termografía infrarroja para diagnosticar en forma rápida el desempeño térmico de edificios existentes. Se seleccionó, para ello, un caso de estudio representativo de vivienda en la ciudad de Mendoza (32º40’LS, 68º51’LO, 750msnm) y se procedió a la toma de imágenes termográficas con una cámara de bajo costo (FLIR i3), en dos momentos del día: en la tarde-noche (8 pm) y en la mañana, temprano, (7am), de modo de evitar posibles errores debidos a la incidencia de radiación solar directa. La emisividad se introdujo en la cámara de acuerdo con estudios de materiales locales. Al mismo tiempo, se realizaron mediciones continuas de temperatura del aire dentro y fuera de la vivienda con micro-adquisidores, con el objeto de contrastar los resultados obtenidos mediante la exploración termográfica. Dado que el caso de estudio tiene una inercia térmica alta, las imágenes tomadas durante la tarde-noche muestran en una mayor medida los distintos comportamientos de los materiales de construcción. Se concluye que la termografía infrarroja resulta una herramienta valiosa para un diagnóstico térmico rápido en la certificación edilicia, si se sigue un protocolo específico que permita obtener resultados confiables.

Abstract From an environmental point of view, the urban forest in Oasis-Cities defines two strata in height: one with a moderate microclimate under the trees, and a second one over the tree canopy that presents an extreme climatic situation. The aim of this study is to assess the energy efficiency and the conditions of habitability of apartments at different heights in high-rise buildings. Four case studies were selected in the Oasis-City of Mendoza, Argentina: two above and two under the tree canopy. Heavy and light envelopes were evaluated. For two years, in situ temperature measurements were taken in order to perform a diagnosis. These data were used to adjust and validate models using the dynamic Energy Plus software. We studied energy refurbishment strategies. Thermal behaviour and HVAC consumption were analysed. The results show that dwellings under the urban forest influence take advantage of solar radiation protection in summer (thermal differences of 4°C), higher temperatures in winter (thermal differences of 3 °C) and minimum consumption in HVAC systems, close to zero energy buildings. Furthermore, apartments in heavy buildings reported better thermal behaviour than those in light buildings.

Resumen La forestación urbana en Ciudades-Oasis definen desde el punto de vista ambiental dos estratos en altura: una situación micro-climática moderada debajo la copa de los árboles y una situación extrema sobre la misma. El objetivo del trabajo es evaluar la eficiencia energética y las condiciones de habitabilidad de unidades de viviendas en edificios en altura. Se seleccionaron cuatro casos en la Ciudad-Oasis de Mendoza, Argentina: dos ubicados debajo y dos sobre la copa de los árboles. Se evaluaron envolventes del tipo másica y liviana. Se realizaron durante dos años mediciones higro-térmicas in situ utilizadas para validar modelos mediante el programa de simulación Energy Plus. Se estudiaron medidas de rehabilitación energética y se analizaron comportamientos térmicos y consumos de energía para climatización. Los resultados demuestran que los departamentos debajo la copa de los árboles aprovechan en verano la protección de la arboleda urbana a la radiación incidente (diferencias térmicas del orden de 4°C), y cuentan con temperaturas más elevadas en invierno (diferencias del orden de 3°C). Con la materialidad edilicia mejorada, debajo la copa se logran consumos para climatización mínimos, cercanos a un edificio de energía cero. Asimismo, las viviendas de los edificios másicos demuestran comportamientos térmicos más cercanos al rango de confort respecto a los edificios livianos.

O lupus eritematoso sistêmico (LES) é a mais comum das doenças auto-imunes sistêmicas, ocorrendo com maior freqüência no sexo feminino, usualmente na faixa etária entre 16 e 55 anos1,2. Embora os rins classicamente sejam os órgãos mais acometidos no LES, o coração e a circulação cardiopulmonar também podem ser afetados de forma significativa3. Nesse contexto, a ocorrência de edema agudo de pulmão associado à miocardite lúpica é rara e de tratamento imunossupressor específico ainda incerto.

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is the most common systemic autoimmune disease, occurring more frequently in women, usually aged between 16 and 55 years1,2. Although classically the kidneys are the organs most affected in SLE, cardiopulmonary circulation and the heart may also be affected significantly3. In this context, the occurrence of acute pulmonary edema associated with lupus myocarditis is rare and specific immunosuppressive therapy remains unclear.
