ABSTRACT: The objective of this study was to determinate the fracture resistance of endodontically treated teeth and restored with two root post systems: i) resin post, ii) fiber post. A total of 60 teeth were freshly extracted, endodontic ally treated and randomly divided in two groups (n= 30/each group) for standardized restoration; Group 1 (Group R): Resin post and resin restoration, Group 2 (Group FP): Fiberglass post and resin restoration. Both groups' samples were mounted in a metallic base at 135º to allow them to be stabilized and held in the universal testing machine by applying a vertical force at cross speed of 1mm/min. Data were recorded in Newtons (N) Previous to test the fracture resistance; all samples were stored in distilled water at 37 ºC for 24 hours. Data were subject to the Saphiro-Wilk test for normality distribution and Student’s t test. Significance was considered at 0.05 values. The values of fiber post group showed normal distribution compared to the resin group, demonstrating less variability among the values. The group FP displayed higher fracture resistance (299.77±100 N) than group R (205.57±86.40 N), with significant differences (p= 0.00002). The greatest fracture resistance was recorded for the group having fiber post reinforced and composite cores. It is suggested that fiberglass post restoration is the first option when endodontic treatment requires core restoration.

RESUMEN: El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la resistencia a la fractura de dientes tratados endodónticamente y restaurados con dos sistemas de endopostes radiculares: I) poste de resina, II) poste de fibra. Un total de 60 dientes recién extraídos fueron tratados endodónticamente y divididos al azar en dos grupos (n= 30/ cada grupo) para la restauración estandarizada; Grupo 1 (Grupo R): Pilares de resina y restauración, Grupo 2 (Grupo FP): Pilares de fibra de vidrio y restauración de resina. Las muestras de ambos grupos se montaron en una base metálica a 135º para permitir su estabilización y sujeción en la máquina universal de ensayos aplicando una fuerza vertical a velocidad transversal de 1 mm/min. Los datos se registraron en Newtons (N), para probar la resistencia a la fractura; todas las muestras se almacenaron en agua destilada a 37 ºC durante 24 horas. Los datos se sometieron a la prueba de normalidad de Saphiro-Wilk y la pruebas t de Student. La significancia se consideró con un valor de 0,05. Los valores del grupo de postes de fibra mostraron una distribución normal en comparación con el grupo de resinas, demostrando menor variabilidad entre los valores. El grupo FP mostró mayor resistencia a la fractura (299,77±100 N) que el grupo R (205,57±86,40 N) que el grupo con diferencias significativas (p= 0,00002). La mayor resistencia a la fractura se registró para el grupo que tenía núcleos compuestos y reforzados con postes de fibra. Se sugiere que la restauración posterior de fibra de vidrio es la primera opción cuando el tratamiento de endodoncia requiere una restauración del núcleo.

ABSTRACT The global health contingency caused by the disproportionate spread of COVID-19 implied radical transformations in the comprehensive dynamics of our system of social relations, based on the inexorable requirement to resort to physical distancing to avoid chains of infection in a highly complex epidemiological scenario.In this area, the Cuban higher education system reasonably evaluated the possible variants to implement, and came to the determination that the most pertinent option involves the educational projection of virtuality as a training alternative.In this sense, the work that is presented systematizes a Proposal for the orientation, regulation and praxis of virtuality in the context of university education.

RESUMEN La contingencia sanitaria global provocada por la propagación desmesurada de la COVID-19, implicó transformaciones radicales en la dinámica integral de nuestro sistema de relaciones sociales, a partir del inexorable requerimiento de recurrir al distanciamiento físico para evitar cadenas de infección en un escenario epidemiológico harto complejo. En este ámbito, el sistema cubano de educación superior evaluó razonablemente las variantes posibles de implementar, y llegó a la determinación de que la opción más pertinente implica la proyección educativa de la virtualidad como alternativa de formación. En tal sentido, el trabajo que se presenta sistematiza una propuesta para la orientación, regulación y praxis de la virtualidad en el contexto de la formación universitaria.

ABSTRACT Chitosan is a biopolymer with bactericidal/bacteriostatic effect, biocompatible and biodegradable. It has been used in tissue engineering to replace tissues partially or completely by releasing bioactive materials or influencing cell growth, usually in regenerative medicine and dentistry. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cytotoxic and anti-inflammatory effect of chitosan alone or with hemostatic gelatin (Spongostand®) in cultures of human pulp cells (HPC), human gingival fibroblasts (HGF) and mouse pre-osteoblasts (MC3T3-E1, ATCC). HPC and HGF were isolated from patients. Cells were subcultured in DMEM. Chitosan was inoculated at different concentrations (0-0.5%) and hemostatic gelatins impregnated with chitosan (0.19%) were placed directly in the presence of cells and incubated for 24 hours. Cell viability was determined by MTT method and mean cytotoxic concentration (CC50) was calculated from the dose-response curve. Anti-inflammatory effect was calculated from the in vitro gingivitis model induced with interleukin 1beta (IL-1β) in HGF and protein detection. The data were subjected to Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. Experiments were performed in triplicate of three independent assays. Cell viability of HPC, HGF and MC3T3-E1 in contact with chitosan decreased significantly (p<0.05). The HPC were the most sensitive (CC50= 0.18%), followed by HGF (CC50= 0.18%) and MC3T3-E1 (CC50= 0.19%). The cytotoxicity of gelatins impregnated with chitosan decreased cell viability of HGF and HPC by 11% and 5%, respectively. The proinflammatory effect was reduced significantly in the gingivitis model. To conclude, chitosan induces moderate cytotoxic effects alone or with hemostatic gelatin at 0.19%, in dose-dependent manner, with anti-inflammatory effects on human gingival fibroblasts. The use of chitosan as a biomaterial can be an excellent choice for use in regenerative dentistry.

RESUMEN El quitosano es un biopolímero con efecto bactericida/bacteriostático, biocompatible y biodegradable. Se ha utilizado en ingeniería de tejidos con el fin de reemplazar parcial o completamente los tejidos como material bioactivo o influyendo en el crecimiento celular, comúnmente, para medicina y odontología regenerativa. Evaluar el efecto citotóxico y antiinflamatorio del quitosano solo o con gelatina hemostática (Spongostand®) en cultivos con células pulpares humanas (HPC), fibroblastos gingivales humanos (HGF) y preosteoblastos de ratón (MC3T3-E1, ATCC). HPC, HGF se aislaron de pacientes. Las células se subcultivaron en DMEM. Se inoculó quitosano a diferentes concentraciones (0-0,5%) y se colocaron gelatinas hemostáticas impregnadas con quitosano (0,19%) directamente en presencia de células y se incubaron durante 24 horas. La viabilidad celular se determinó mediante el método MTT y se calculó la concentración citotóxica media (CC50) a partir de la curva dosis-respuesta. El efecto antiinflamatorio se calculó a partir del modelo de gingivitis in vitro inducido con interleucina 1β (IL-1β) en HGF. Los datos se sometieron a las pruebas de Shapiro-Wilk, Kruskal-Wallis y Mann-Whitney. Los experimentos se realizaron por triplicado de tres ensayos independientes. La viabilidad celular de HPC, HGF y MC3T3-E1 en contacto con el quitosano disminuyó significativamente la viabilidad celular (p <0.05). Las HPC fueron las más sensibles (CC50= 0,18%) seguido de HGF (CC50= 0,18%) y MC3T3-E1 (CC50= 0,19%). Las gelatinas impregnadas con quitosano mostraron una disminución en la viabilidad celular para HGF, HPC de 11% y 5% respectivamente y se redujo significativamente el efecto pro-inflamatorio en el modelo de gingivitis humano. El quitosano induce efectos citotóxicos moderados solo o con gelatina hemostática a 0,19% de forma dosis-dependiente con efectos antiinflamatorios en fibroblastos gingivales humanos. El uso de quitosano como biomaterial puede ser una excelente opción para su uso en odontología regenerativa.

ABSTRACT Chromium (Cr) is an element present in nature in mineral form. It has a dual effect, both as an essential micronutrient and a carcinogenic agent depending on its chemical form and concentration. It is present in various environmental matrices such as water, soil, and air, coming from natural and anthropogenic sources, and causes harmful effects on biota, ecosystems, and even human beings. This study's objective was to evaluate chromium toxicity and teratogenicity in zebrafish embryos of Danio rerio exposed to chromium through the D. rerio teratology assay (DarTA) test by evaluating spine malformations. To this end, the chromium toxicity curve was calculated from zebrafish embryos exposed to potassium dichromate (K2Cr2O7), and the probit test was used to establish the mean lethal concentration (LC50) and three subtoxic concentrations LC25, LC12.5, and LC6.25 to evaluate the teratogenicity. The results showed that potassium dichromate was statistically positive for the teratogenic effect at the three highest concentrations evaluated. Potassium dichromate exposure causes abnormal embryonic development and teratogenic effects, including severe heart defects in zebrafish embryos. Therefore, we conclude that potassium dichromate is toxic to the zebrafish developmental stages. The finding that potassium dichromate is teratogenic in zebrafish embryos suggests that this metal should be tested and evaluate potential risk in mammalian systems.

ABSTRACT Objective to unveil nurses' perceptions about the development of care technology to operationalize the nursing process. Methods qualitative study, developed with seven intensive care nurses, through a focus group, based on a semi-structured script. The content analysis technique was used to interpret the data, in the light of the Best Practices framework. Results the content of the focus group was organized into two categories of a priori analysis: Applying resolutive knowledge in the development of care technology for the nursing process and development of technology focused on the nursing process, based on the rational use of resources. Conclusion nurses conceived care technology as best practice, considering that it was based on scientific evidence. It has developed collaboratively, with rational use of resources, based on a partnership with higher education institutions, and customized according to local context and needs.

RESUMO Objetivo desvelar as percepções de enfermeiros sobre o desenvolvimento de uma tecnologia cuidativa para operacionalização do processo de enfermagem. Métodos estudo qualitativo, desenvolvido com sete enfermeiros de terapia intensiva, por meio de grupo focal, a partir de roteiro semiestruturado. Utilizou-se da técnica de análise de conteúdo para interpretação dos dados, à luz do referencial das Melhores Práticas. Resultados o conteúdo do grupo focal foi organizado em duas categorias de análise apriorísticas: Aplicando o conhecimento resolutivo na elaboração de uma tecnologia cuidativa para o processo de enfermagem e Desenvolvimento de tecnologia voltada ao processo de enfermagem, a partir do uso racional de recursos. Conclusão os enfermeiros conceberam a tecnologia cuidativa como uma melhor prática, ao considerarem que estava assentada em evidências científicas. Desenvolveu-se colaborativamente, com uso racional de recursos, a partir da parceria com instituições de ensino superior, e personalizada conforme contexto e necessidades locais.

ABSTRACT Objective to understand the perception of health and law professionals regarding care for frail elderly people who live alone. Methods qualitative research, carried out through interviews with health and law professionals, using a vignette as a trigger, presenting the description of the story of a frail elderly woman who lived alone. Data were submitted to the thematic analysis technique. Results the 23 professionals pointed out that the family members should be the responsible ones for the elderly; that institutionalization should take place as the last option; stressed the importance of multi-professional and intersectoral work; and recognized the limitations of the state. The professionals reported the appropriate interventions for the case. Conclusion in care for the elderly who live alone, there are limitations for families, social care, and health services for the elderly, as well as the State, with the need to strengthen legally guaranteed resources.

RESUMO Objetivo compreender a visão de profissionais da área da saúde e do direito acerca do cuidado a idosos fragilizados que vivem sozinhos. Métodos pesquisa qualitativa, realizada por meio de entrevistas com profissionais da área da saúde e do direito, tendo como disparador uma vinheta, contendo a descrição da história de uma idosa fragilizada que vivia sozinha. Dados submetidos à técnica de análise temática. Resultados os 23 profissionais apontaram que a família deveria ser a principal responsável pelo idoso; que a institucionalização deveria ocorrer como última opção; ressaltaram a importância do trabalho multiprofissional e intersetorial; e reconheceram as limitações do Estado. Os profissionais relataram as intervenções apropriadas para o caso. Conclusão na atenção ao idoso que vive sozinho, existem limitações das famílias, dos serviços de atenção social e de saúde ao idoso, bem como do Estado, havendo necessidade de fortalecimento dos recursos legalmente garantidos.

ABSTRACT Objective to evaluate the quality of life after acute myocardial infarction, highlighting the differences by sex. Methods analytical, observational study with 273 patients. For collection, a multidimensional assessment instrument was used for heart attacks. Data collected in a cardiology referral hospital, in which the t Student test was applied for analysis. Results the majority were male (67.0%), with a mean age of 63.6 years, with a family history of heart attack (64.5%). The average quality of life score was 0.45, with 1.00 being the worst score. Dependence (0.82) and physical activity (0.50) were the worst assessed domains; and side effects (0.27) and diet (0.36), the best. The female gender had the worst averages (0.52, p<0.05), with emphasis on physical activity (0.58), emotion (0.49) and insecurity (0.44). Conclusion impairments in quality of life were found after myocardial infarction, in which the dependency domain was the most compromised. The female sex had worse scores.

RESUMO Objetivo avaliar a qualidade de vida após infarto agudo do miocárdio, destacando as diferenças por sexo. Métodos estudo analítico, observacional, com 273 pacientes. Para coleta, utilizou-se de instrumento de avaliação multidimensional para infartados. Dados coletados em hospital de referência em cardiologia, nos quais se aplicaram o teste t Student para análises. Resultados maioria do sexo masculino (67,0%), média de 63,6 anos de idade, possuindo histórico familiar de infarto (64,5%). O escore médio de qualidade de vida foi 0,45, sendo 1,00 o pior escore. Dependência (0,82) e atividade física (0,50) foram os piores domínios avaliados; e efeitos colaterais (0,27) e dieta (0,36), os melhores. O sexo feminino apresentou piores médias (0,52, p<0,05), com destaque para atividade física (0,58), emoção (0,49) e insegurança (0,44). Conclusão constataram-se prejuízos na qualidade de vida, após infarto do miocárdio, em que o domínio dependência foi o mais comprometido. O sexo feminino apresentou piores escores.

Abstract The development of stable and active TiO2 nanotubes (NTs) decorated with plasmonic gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) represents a strategy for charge-transfer processes improvements. However, organic capping ligands used for Au NPs synthesis usually remain on the surface of the metal, leading to poor Schottky junctions between Au and TiO2. Herein, we report on the synthesis of a nanotubular matrix of TiO2 decorated with gold without the need of ligands. The Au NPs mean diameter (12 nm) was similar to all the samples prepared, no matter the metal loading. Such materials enabled to use the metal as a cocatalyst for photogeneration of H2under UV and visible light irradiations. We found an optimum metal loading (2.6 wt% Au) that enabled an improvement of 760% on the H2 production when compared to the bare TiO2 NTs under UV-Vis irradiation. In addition, such catalyst was able to perform photogeneration of H2 under visible irradiation, which was not conceivable before the metal immobilization over the TiO2 NTs. The yield obtained was comparable to the observed when the catalyst was used under UV-Vis conditions. The produced materials were fully characterized by UV-Vis, XRD, TEM, and SEM.

ABSTRACT Objective to understand the practice of swaddle bathing in premature babies, in a neonatal unit, from the perspective of nurses. Methods qualitative research, conducted through semi-structured interview, with 13 nurses working in neonatal units, captured through the snowball sampling technique. Data submitted to thematic-categorical analysis. Results nurses considered benefits related to comfort and stimulation in the swaddle bathing. However, they mentioned challenges for practice, related to lack of knowledge, low adherence and work overload of the nursing team, absence of routines and institutional protocols, besides to scarcity or even inadequacy of the material resources available in the institutions. Conclusion the practice of swaddle bathing, from the perspective of nurses, has positive effects for the premature babies’ development. Nevertheless, there are managerial challenges that need to be overcome for effective implementation.

RESUMO Objetivo compreender a prática do banho enrolado em bebês prematuros, em unidade neonatal, na perspectiva de enfermeiros. Métodos pesquisa qualitativa, realizada por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, com 13 enfermeiros atuantes em unidades neonatais, captados através da técnica de amostragem bola de neve. Dados submetidos à análise temático-categorial. Resultados os enfermeiros consideraram benefícios relacionados ao conforto e à estimulação no banho enrolado, entretanto, citaram desafios para a prática, relacionados ao desconhecimento, à baixa adesão e sobrecarga de trabalho da equipe de enfermagem, ausência de rotinas e protocolos institucionais, além da escassez ou mesmo inadequação dos recursos materiais disponíveis nas instituições. Conclusão a prática do banho enrolado, na perspectiva de enfermeiros, tem efeitos positivos para o desenvolvimento de bebês prematuros, porém existem desafios gerenciais que precisam ser superados para efetiva implementação.

ABSTRACT Objective evaluating the association between risk factors and pressure levels in university students. Methods descriptive, cross-sectional study, developed with 203 university students through a self-applicable questionnaire, built from the Ministry of Health instrument for the Telephonic Inquiry for the Surveillance of Risk Factors and Protection Against Chronic Diseases. The analysis of data was carried out using Kendall’s tau coefficient. Results 164 (80.8%) participants had normal pressure levels, nine (4.4%) had pre-hypertension, and 30 (14.8%) had hypertension. Regarding their lifestyles, 16 (7.9%) were smokers, 12 (5.9%) made abusive use of alcohol, 137 (67.5%) were active, 64 (31.5%) had abdominal adiposity, 29 (14.3%) were overweight or obese and 32 (15.8%) used salt in excess. Conclusion the risk factors related to high pressure levels were being 35 years old or older, having abdominal adiposity, being overweight or obese.

RESUMO Objetivo avaliar a associação dos fatores de risco com os níveis pressóricos elevados em universitários. Métodos estudo descritivo, transversal, desenvolvido com 203 universitários, por meio de questionário autoaplicável, construído com base no instrumento para Vigilância de Fatores de Risco e Proteção Para Doenças Crônicas por Inquérito Telefônico do Ministério da Saúde. A análise dos dados foi realizada pelo teste Tau de Kendall. Resultados dos participantes do estudo, 164 (80,8%) possuíam níveis pressóricos referentes à pressão arterial normal, nove (4,4%) pré-hipertensão, 30 (14,8%) hipertensão. Quanto ao estilo de vida, 16 (7,9%) eram fumantes, 12 (5,9%) faziam uso abusivo de álcool, 137 (67,5%) eram ativos, 64 (31,5%) possuíam adiposidade abdominal, 29 (14,3%) estavam com sobrepeso ou obesidade e 32 (15,8%) faziam uso excessivo de sal. Conclusão os fatores de risco relacionados aos níveis pressóricos elevados foram: ter ٣٥ anos ou mais de idade, adiposidade abdominal, sobrepeso ou obesidade.

Abstract Background: Peak oxygen consumption (VO2peak) is an important prognostic marker and its classification helps the cardiologist in the therapeutic decision-making process. The most commonly used cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) classification has not been validated for the Brazilian population. Objective: To elaborate a CRF classification using a Brazilian sample and to compare it with the American Heart Association (AHA), Cooper and UNIFESP classifications. Methods: A total of 6,568 healthy subjects were analyzed through cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET). They were distributed by sex and the following age groups (years): 7-12, 13-19, 20-79 (per decades) and > 80 years. After measurement of the VO2peak, participants were distributed into quintiles of CRF in very poor, poor, moderate, high and very high (AEMA Table). The CRF classifications by AEMA, AHA, Cooper, and UNIFESP were compared using the Wilcoxon, Kappa and concordance percentages. Results: VO2peak presented an inverse and moderate correlation with age considering both sexes (R = -0.488, p < 0.001). All paired comparisons between CRF classification systems showed differences (p < 0.001) and disagreement percentage - AEMA versus AHA (k = 0.291, 56.7%), AEMA versus Cooper (k = 0.220, 62.4%) and AEMA versus UNIFESP (k = 0.201, 63.9 %). Conclusion: The AEMA table showed important discrepancies in the classification of CRF when compared to other tables widely used in our setting. Because it was obtained from a large sample of the Brazilian population, the AEMA table should be preferred over other classification systems in our population.

ABSTRACT A description is provided for the first time of a series of nine cases with a clinical examination suggestive of leptospirosis in the municipality of Puerto Nariño, Department of Amazonas, Colombia. Serological evidence is presented of exposure to Rickettsia, spotted fever group. The cases were clinically considered as febrile syndrome of unknown origin. Infection with dengue or malaria was ruled out. Diagnosis of leptospirosis was achieved by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Additionally, indirect immunofluorescence detected the presence of antibodies against rickettsia, spotted fever group. Finally, a review was conducted about the topic.

RESUMEN Se describe por primera vez una serie de nueve casos con clínica indicativa de leptospirosis en el municipio Puerto Nariño en el departamento Amazonas, Colombia. Se muestran evidencias serológicas de exposición con Rickettsia del grupo de las fiebres manchadas. Los casos fueron clínicamente considerados como síndrome febril de origen desconocido. Se descartó infección por dengue y malaria. El diagnóstico de Leptospira se realizó mediante el método de reacción en cadena de la polimerasa en tiempo real. Igualmente, se detectó la presencia de anticuerpos contra rickettsias del grupo de las fiebres manchadas por inmunofluorescencia Indirecta. Finalmente, se realiza revisión del tema.

Objective to associate the sociodemographic characteristics of elderly victims of violence and of the aggressors with types of violence. Methods this is a cross-sectional, analytical, retrospective study developed in a police station. A total of 346 police reports were analyzed, and the statistical analyses of comparisons were made in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 25.0.0.0. Results type of violence was positively associated with area of the city, sex, marital status, schooling, age, place of occurrence, legal basis, and form of notification of the victim. There was a predominance of financial violence among men, while other types of violence, white skin, presence of a partner, and the victim’s home as the place of occurrence predominated among women. There was a predominance of male aggressors. Conclusion the police reports indicated the association of different sociodemographic data of victims and aggressors with the types of violence.

Objetivo associar as características sociodemográficas de idosos vítimas de violência e dos agressores com os tipos de violência. Métodos trata-se de um estudo transversal, analítico, retrospectivo, desenvolvido em uma Delegacia. Foram analisados 346 boletins de ocorrência, sendo que as análises estatísticas relativas às comparações foram realizadas com o software Statistical Package for Social Sciences versão 25.0.0.0. Resultados observou-se associação positiva entre região da cidade, sexo, estado conjugal, escolaridade, idade, local de ocorrência, embasamento legal e forma de notificação da vítima com o tipo de violência, com predomínio da violência financeira em homens e das mulheres nos outros tipos, de cor de pele branca, com companheiro, no domicílio da vítima. Houve predomínio de agressores do sexo masculino. Conclusão os boletins de ocorrência indicaram a associação de diferentes dados sociodemográficos da vítima e do agressor com os tipos de violência.

Objective to analyze the actions of nurses in the follow-up of the growth and development of overweight and obese children in the Family Health Strategy. Methods qualitative research, developed through a semi-structured interview with 12 nurses from five Family Health Clinics whose data were submitted to thematic analysis. Results nurses carry out anthropometric follow-up and analysis of these data in the health booklet, provide guidance on breastfeeding and the importance of a balanced diet for children and families, and their actions are carried out in Family Health Clinics, schools and homes. Conclusion the nursing actions are focused on the child and the family’s self-care in order to prevent or minimize the effects of overweight and obesity in childhood and its repercussions for adult life.

Objetivo analisar as ações de enfermeiros no acompanhamento do crescimento e desenvolvimento de crianças com sobrepeso e obesidade na Estratégia Saúde da Família. Métodos pesquisa qualitativa, desenvolvida por meio de entrevista semiestruturada com 12 enfermeiros de cinco Clínicas de Saúde da Família cujos dados foram submetidos à Análise Temática. Resultados os enfermeiros fazem acompanhamento antropométrico e análise desses dados na caderneta de saúde, orientam sobre o aleitamento materno e a importância de dieta balanceada para crianças e famílias, tendo as suas ações realizadas nas clínicas de saúde da família, nas escolas e nos domicílios. Conclusão as ações de enfermagem estão voltadas para o autocuidado da criança e da família com intuito de prevenir ou minimizar os efeitos do sobrepeso e obesidade na infância e suas repercussões para a vida adulta.

Objective: to verify competencies for the evidence-based practice between novice nurses and their preceptors. Methods: cross-sectional observational study consisting of non-probabilistic sampling aimed to reach the maximum number of participants. We conducted structured interviews using the Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire to verify competencies. Results: 83.1% of the population (n=104 nurses) participated in the research, most of them were women and young adults. On average, the competencies for evidence-based practice (novices = 4.8, preceptors = 5.0) were moderate. Both groups believe that the use of evidence in practice is essential. However, the critical evaluation of evidence in the daily routine has been little recurrent among them. Professionals found difficulty in setting time at work to seek evidence, especially the beginners (p=0.05). Preceptors presented better computer skills to search for evidence (p=0.043). Conclusion: in general, competencies for evidence-based practice were similar among novice nurses and preceptors.

Objetivo: verificar competências para a Prática Baseada em Evidências entre enfermeiros novatos e seus preceptores. Métodos: estudo observacional, transversal, constituído por amostragem não probabilística a fim de se alcançar o número máximo de participantes. Foram realizadas entrevistas estruturadas utilizando-se Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire para verificação das competências. Resultados: participaram 83,1% da população (n=104 enfermeiros), maioria de mulheres, jovens adultas. Em média, foram moderadas as competências para Prática Baseada em Evidências (novatos = 4,8; preceptores = 5,0). Ambos acreditam ser fundamental a utilização de evidências na prática. Entretanto, a avaliação crítica das evidências no cotidiano de atuação tem sido pouco recorrente entre eles. Definir tempo no trabalho para buscar evidências apresentou-se como dificuldade, sendo maior entre novatos (p=0,05). Preceptores apresentaram melhor habilidade em informática para busca de evidências (p=0,043). Conclusão: em geral, as competências para Prática Baseada em Evidências foram similares entre enfermeiros novatos e preceptores.
