Resumo Introdução: Na escola os acidentes normalmente são testemunhados pelo professor, que é a figura responsável pelas crianças e adolescentes. Embora a literatura indique a relevância dos cursos em primeiros socorros, torna-se necessário entender a visão dos cursistas, como protagonistas do processo de aprendizagem, para adequar as ações formativas e as tecnologias utilizadas, uma vez que a educação em saúde pode reduzir drasticamente as taxas de lesões não intencionais. Objetivo: Conhecer as percepções dos professores de uma escola de educação básica privada a respeito do curso online de fundamentos teóricos de primeiros-socorros. Método: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo e descritivo. O estudo foi realizado em um centro de educação básica privado do Sul de Minas Gerais, Brasil. A coleta de dados ocorreu entre os meses de janeiro a março de 2022. A população de estudo foi constituída por dez professores, que realizaram o curso de extensão online ''Fundamentos teóricos de primeiros-socorros na escola''. A coleta de dados foi realizada por meio de entrevista semiestruturada, mediada por tecnologia remota e a análise foi feita por meio da Análise Temática. Resultados: O trabalho interpretativo resultou em dois temas e um subtema respectivamente: ''Primeiros socorros como um novo objeto para os professores da educação básica''; ''Contribuições do curso online: novas aprendizagens em primeiros socorros''; ''A falta de aulas práticas como limite da estratégia de ensino''. Conclusão: O curso online despontou-se como recurso útil para capacitação de professores em primeiros socorros, amplia o conhecimento e abre um campo para reflexão sobre a segurança do ambiente escolar. Contudo, a ausência de conteúdo prático é apontada como um limite da estratégia, porque não oportuniza o desenvolvimento das habilidades psicomotoras.

Resumen Introducción: En la escuela, los accidentes suelen ser presenciados por la persona docente, quien es el responsable de la persona menor de edad. Aunque la literatura indica la relevancia de los cursos de primeros auxilios, es necesario comprender la visión de quienes participan del curso. Al ser protagonistas del proceso de aprendizaje, se deben adaptar las acciones de formación y las tecnologías utilizadas, ya que la educación en salud puede reducir drásticamente las tasas de lesiones no intencionales. Objetivo: Conocer las percepciones del cuerpo docente de una escuela privada de educación básica sobre el curso en línea de fundamentos teóricos de primeros auxilios. Metodología: Se trata de un estudio cualitativo y descriptivo que se llevó a cabo en un centro privado de educación básica en el sur de Minas Gerais, Brasil. La recopilación de datos tuvo lugar de enero a marzo de 2022. La población de estudio estuvo constituida por diez docentes, que participaron del curso de extensión en línea ''Fundamentos teóricos de los primeros auxilios en la escuela''. La recolección de datos se realizó a través de una entrevista semiestructurada, mediada por tecnología remota y el análisis de los datos se llevó a cabo mediante análisis temático. Resultados: El trabajo interpretativo resultó en dos temas y un subtema respectivamente: ''Los primeros auxilios como objeto nuevo para los docentes de educación básica'', ''Aportes del curso en línea: nuevos aprendizajes en primeros auxilios''y ''La falta de clases prácticas como límite de la estrategia docente''. Conclusión: El curso en línea surgió como un recurso útil para la capacitación de profesores en primeros auxilios, ampliando el conocimiento y abriendo un campo para la reflexión sobre la seguridad escolar. Sin embargo, la falta de contenido práctico se señala como una limitación de la estrategia, ya que no ofrece oportunidades para el desarrollo de habilidades psicomotoras.

Abstract Introduction: At school, accidents are often witnessed by the teacher, who is responsible for the children and adolescents. Although the literature indicates the relevance of first aid courses, it is necessary to understand the perceptions of course participants, as the protagonists in this learning process, to adapt the training actions and the technologies used, since health education can drastically reduce unintentional injury rates. Objective: To understand the teacher perceptions in a private elementary school regarding the online course on first aid theoretical fundamentals. Methods: This is a qualitative and descriptive study that was developed in a private elementary school in the south of Minas Gerais, Brazil. the data collection was from January to March 2022. The study population consisted of ten teachers, who participated in the online extension course ''Theoretical Fundamentals of first aid in schools''. The data collection was done through a semi-structured interview, mediated by remote technology, and the information was analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Results: The analysis resulted in two themes and a subtheme respectively: ''First aid as a new topic for elementary school teachers''; ''Contributions of the online course: new learning in first aid''and ''The lack of practical classes as a limitation of the teaching strategy''. Conclusion: The online course has emerged as a useful resource for training teachers in first aid, expanding knowledge, and disclosing a field for reflection on school safety. However, the lack of practical content is identified as a limitation of the strategy, as it does not provide opportunities for the development of psychomotor skills.

RESUMO Objetivo analisar, sob a ótica da abordagem Histórico-Cultural, a translação do conhecimento da avaliação clínica do paciente crítico em Terapia Intensiva pelo acadêmico de enfermagem, em ambiente real, tendo a simulação clínica como facilitadora do processo de aprendizagem. Método estudo qualitativo e analítico, apoiado no referencial Histórico-Cultural de Vigotski, desenvolvido com acadêmicos da disciplina Estágio Curricular do curso de graduação em enfermagem de uma universidade pública do sul de Minas Gerais. A coleta de dados foi realizada em três etapas: Simulação Clínica, Observação participante no Centro de Terapia Intensiva e Grupo Focal. Resultados foram construídas duas categorias: “A singularidade do sujeito que aprende” e “Simulação como ferramenta para translação do conhecimento”. Conclusão e implicações para a prática a simulação como instrumento psicológico na perspectiva Histórico-Cultural contribuiu para o desenvolvimento das funções psicológicas superiores dos acadêmicos para avaliarem e implementarem ações de cuidado em cenário real da Terapia Intensiva. Essa estratégia não pode ser concebida de modo isolado e desarticulado de fatores inter-relacionados que se dão no campo sociocultural e que implicam nas trajetórias do desenvolvimento humano.

ABSTRACT Objective to analyze, from the perspective of the Historical-Cultural approach, the translation of knowledge from the clinical evaluation of critically ill patients in Intensive Care by the nursing academic, in a real environment, with clinical simulation as a facilitator of the learning process. Method qualitative and analytical study, supported by the Vigotski Historical-Cultural framework, developed with students of the subject Curricular Internship of the undergraduate nursing course of a public university in southern Minas Gerais. Data collection was performed in three stages: Clinical Simulation, Participant Observation at the Intensive Care Center and Focus Group. Results two categories were built: “The singularity of the subject who learns” and “Simulation as a tool for knowledge translation”. Conclusion and implications for practice simulation as a psychological instrument in the Historical-Cultural perspective contributed to the development of the superior psychological functions of the students to evaluate and implement care actions in the real scenario of intensive care. This strategy cannot be conceived in isolation and disjointed from interrelated factors that take place in the sociocultural field and that imply in the trajectories of human development.

RESUMEN Objetivo analizar, desde la perspectiva del enfoque Histórico-Cultural, la traducción del conocimiento de la evaluación clínica de pacientes en cuidados intensivos por parte del académico de enfermería, en un entorno real, con la simulación clínica como facilitador del proceso de aprendizaje. Método estudio cualitativo y analítico, apoyado por el marco Histórico-Cultural Vigotski, desarrollado con estudiantes de la materia Pasantía Curricular del curso de pregrado de enfermería de una universidad pública en el sur de Minas Gerais. La recolección de datos se realizó en tres etapas: simulación clínica, observación participante en el centro de cuidados intensivos y grupo focal. Resultados se construyeron dos categorías: “La singularidad del sujeto que aprende” y “Simulación como herramienta para traducir el conocimiento”. Conclusión e implicaciones para la práctica la simulación como instrumento psicológico en la perspectiva Histórico-Cultural contribuyó al desarrollo de las funciones psicológicas superiores de los estudiantes para evaluar e implementar acciones de atención en el escenario real de cuidados intensivos. Esta estrategia no puede concebirse en términos aislados ni desarticulada de factores interrelacionados que tienen lugar en el ámbito sociocultural y que inciden en el trayecto del desarrollo humano.

Abstract Introduction: Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is the most frequently performed heart surgery in Brazil. Recent international guidelines recommend that national societies establish a database on the practice and results of CABG. In anticipation of the recommendation, the BYPASS Registry was introduced in 2015. Objective: To analyze the profile, risk factors and outcomes of patients undergoing CABG in Brazil, as well as to examine the predominant surgical strategy, based on the data included in the BYPASS Registry. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 2292 patients undergoing CABG surgery and cataloged in the BYPASS Registry up to November 2018. Demographic data, clinical presentation, operative variables, and postoperative hospital outcomes were analyzed. Results: Patients referred to CABG in Brazil are predominantly male (71%), with prior myocardial infarction in 41.1% of cases, diabetes in 42.5%, and ejection fraction lower than 40% in 9.7%. The Heart Team indicated surgery in 32.9% of the cases. Most of the patients underwent cardiopulmonary bypass (87%), and cardioplegia was the strategy of myocardial protection chosen in 95.2% of the cases. The left internal thoracic artery was used as a graft in 91% of the cases; the right internal thoracic artery, in 5.6%; and the radial artery in 1.1%. The saphenous vein graft was used in 84.1% of the patients, being the only graft employed in 7.7% of the patients. The median number of coronary vessels treated was 3. Operative mortality was 2.8%, and the incidence of cerebrovascular accident was 1.2%. Conclusion: CABG data in Brazil provided by the BYPASS Registry analysis are representative of our national reality and practice. This database constitutes an important reference for indications and comparisons of therapeutic procedures, as well as to propose subsequent models to improve patient safety and the quality of surgical practice in the country.

RESUMO A costa Norte do Brasil é um dos pesqueiros de camarão mais importantes do mundo, com uma área total de aproximadamente 223.000 km2. No entanto, dados disponíveis sobre a diversidade de peixes capturados pela frota industrial de arrasto de portas na região são limitados às espécies com valor comercial. Essa lacuna no conhecimento sobre a fauna de peixes marinhos da região é preocupante, tanto para o manejo dos estoques quanto para a conservação da biodiversidade local. O presente estudo é baseado num inventário abrangente dos peixes teleósteos capturados por operações de arrasto de portas da frota industrial que opera na costa Norte do Brasil. Este inventário registrou 201 espécies pertencentes a 64 famílias e 20 ordens, e revelou uma fauna única, caracterizada por 17 espécies endêmicas, e uma mistura de espécies estuarino-dependentes e espécies marinhas, principalmente associadas a recifes de corais. A análise da densidade Kernel indicou que a frota industrial de arrasto de portas opera dentro de um importante ecótono, que abrange uma zona de transição de diferentes comunidades de peixes encontrados na costa Norte do Brasil.

ABSTRACT The Brazilian North coast is one of the world’s most important shrimp fishery grounds, with a total area of approximately 223,000 km2. However, the available data on the diversity of fish caught by the region’s industrial trawler fleet are limited to the commercially-valuable species. This lacuna in the data on the region’s marine fish fauna is worrying, both for the management of stocks and the conservation of the local biodiversity. The present study was based on a comprehensive inventory of the teleost fishes captured by the industrial outrigger trawling operations off the North coast of Brazil. This inventory recorded 201 species belonging to 64 families and 20 orders, and revealed a unique fauna, characterized by 17 endemic species, and a mixture of estuarine-dependent and marine species, mainly associated with coral reefs. The Kernel density analysis indicated that the industrial trawling fleet operates within an important ecotone, which encompasses the transition zones of different fish communities found off the Brazilian North coast.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the meanings assigned by people with systemic arterial hypertension to health education actions in the waiting room. Method: This is an analytical qualitative study, held in 2016 with 19 people with arterial hypertension from a health unit. The data were collected in households, through a semi-structured interview and field notes, recorded on audio, transcribed and organized by thematic analysis, being analyzed considering Vygostky’s Cultural-Historical Learning Theory. Result: Meanings of attention, interest, pleasure and learning assigned to educational practice denote the importance of interaction and mediation to reconstruct knowledge about blood pressure control and to attribute a new meaning to self-care. Final considerations: The waiting room became an environment that promoted interaction, favoring the construction of meanings and internalization of knowledge with potential for lifestyle changes.

RESUMEN Objetivo: Analizar los significados atribuidos por personas con hipertensión arterial sistémica a las acciones de educación en salud en sala de espera. Método: Estudio cualitativo, analítico, realizado en 2016 con diecinueve personas con hipertensión arterial de una unidad de salud. Los datos fueron recolectados en las residencias, en entrevista semiestructurada y diario de campo, grabados en audio, transcritos y organizados por el análisis temático, siendo analizados a la luz de la Teoría de Aprendizaje Histórico-Cultural de Vygotsky. Resultado: Los significados de atención, interés, placer y aprendizaje atribuidos a la práctica educativa denotan la relevancia de la interacción y mediación para reconstruir conocimientos dirigidos al control de la presión arterial y para resignificar el cuidado de sí. Consideraciones finales: La sala de espera configuró un espacio promotor de la interacción, favoreciendo la construcción de significados y la internalización de conocimientos con potencial para cambios de estilo de vida.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar os significados atribuídos pelas pessoas com hipertensão arterial sistêmica às ações de educação em saúde em sala de espera. Método: Estudo qualitativo, analítico, realizado em 2016, com 19 pessoas com Hipertensão Arterial de unidade de saúde. Dados coletados no domicílio em entrevista semiestruturada e diário de campo, gravados em áudio, transcritos e organizados pela análise temática e analisados à luz da Teoria de Aprendizagem Histórico-Cultural de Vygotsky. Resultado: Os significados atribuídos à prática educativa de atenção, interesse, prazer e aprendizado, denotam a relevância da interação e da mediação compartilhada para a reconstrução de conhecimentos para o controle da pressão arterial e a ressignificação do cuidado de si. Abstract The hypothesis of this study was that the peri-implant bone healing of the group of pinealectomized rats would differ from the control group. The samples were subjected to immunohistochemical, microtomographic (total porosity and connectivity density), and fluorochrome (mineralized surface) analyses. Objectives The goal of this study was to investigate the cellular changes and bone remodeling dynamics along the bone/implant interface in pinealectomized rats. Material and Methods The total of 18 adult male rats (Rattus norvegicus albinus, Wistar) was divided into three groups (n=6): control (CO), pinealectomized without melatonin (PNX) and pinealectomized with melatonin (PNXm). All animals were submitted to the first surgery (pinealectomy), except the CO group. Thirty days after the pinealectomy without melatonin, the second surgery was conducted, in which all animals received an implant in each tibia (36 titanium implants with surface treatment were installed – Implalife® São Paulo, SP, Brazil). By gavage, the rats of the PNX group received the vehicle solution, and the procedure. Results Immunohistochemical analysis for runt-related transcription factor 2 (RUNX2), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), osteopontin (OP) and osteocalcin (OC) showed that the bone repair process in the PNXm group was similar to that of the CO group, whereas the PNX group showed a delay. The microtomographic parameters of total porosity [Po(tot)] and bone surface (BS) showed no statistically significant differences, whereas for the connective density (Conn.Dn) a statistical difference was found between the CO and PNXm groups. Fluorochrome analysis of the active mineralized surface showed statistically significant difference between the CO and PNX and between the CO and PNXm groups. Conclusion The absence of the pineal gland impaired the bone repair process during osseointegration, however the daily melatonin replacement was able to restore this response.

Abstract Objective: To report the early results of the BYPASS project - the Brazilian registrY of adult Patient undergoing cArdiovaScular Surgery - a national, observational, prospective, and longitudinal follow-up registry, aiming to chart a profile of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery in Brazil, assessing the data harvested from the initial 1,722 patients. Methods: Data collection involved institutions throughout the whole country, comprising 17 centers in 4 regions: Southeast (8), Northeast (5), South (3), and Center-West (1). The study population consists of patients over 18 years of age, and the types of operations recorded were: coronary artery bypass graft (CABG), mitral valve, aortic valve (either conventional or transcatheter), surgical correction of atrial fibrillation, cardiac transplantation, mechanical circulatory support and congenital heart diseases in adults. Results: 83.1% of patients came from the public health system (SUS), 9.6% from the supplemental (private insurance) healthcare systems; and 7.3% from private (out-of -pocket) clinic. Male patients comprised 66%, 30% were diabetics, 46% had dyslipidemia, 28% previously sustained a myocardial infarction, and 9.4% underwent prior cardiovascular surgery. Patients underwent coronary artery bypass surgery were 54.1% and 31.5% to valve surgery, either isolated or combined. The overall postoperative mortality up to the 7th postoperative day was 4%; for CABG was 2.6%, and for valve operations, 4.4%. Conclusion: This first report outlines the consecution of the Brazilian surgical cardiac database, intended to serve primarily as a tool for providing information for clinical improvement and patient safety and constitute a basis for production of research protocols.

OBJECTIVE: Dengue is a worldwide public health problem with approximately 50 million cases reported annually. The World Health Organization proposed a revised classification system in 2008 to more effectively identify the patients who are at increased risk of complications from dengue. Few studies have validated this new classification system in clinical practice. We conducted a cross-sectional study of patients hospitalized for dengue in Dourados, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, to evaluate the capacity of the two classification systems for detecting severe cases of dengue. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study of survey data from the medical records of patients admitted to the University Hospital of the Federal University of Grande Dourados under clinical suspicion of dengue during an epidemic from September 2009 to April 2010. RESULTS: The distribution of patients according to the traditional classification system was as follows: dengue fever, 150/181 (82.9%); dengue hemorrhagic fever, 27/181 (14.9%); and dengue hemorrhagic shock, 4/181 (2.2%). Using the revised classification system, the distribution was as follows: dengue without warning signs, 45/181 (24.3%); dengue with warning signs, 107/181 (59.1%); and severe dengue, 29/181 (15.6%). Of the 150 patients classified as having dengue fever, 105 (70%) were reclassified as having dengue with warning signs or severe dengue. CONCLUSION: These data demonstrate that the revised classification system has greater discriminatory power for detecting patients at risk of progression to severe disease and those needing hospitalization.

OBJETIVO: Avaliar a presença de fatores de risco para doença cardiovascular em nipo-brasileiros. SUJEITOS E MÉTODOS: Foram estudados 131 moradores de Mombuca. Utilizaram-se os testes do Qui-quadrado, Exato de Fisher, t de Student e ANOVA, com significância de 5%. RESULTADOS: A média de idade foi de 56,7 anos; 76,3% tinham dislipidemia, 24,4% pré-diabetes (PDM), 10,7% diabetes melito tipo 2 (DM2), 46,6% hipertensão, 52,7% obesidade abdominal e 35,8% síndrome metabólica (SM). Houve correlação significativa do HOMA-IR com SM e obesidade, enquanto HOMA-β esteve reduzido na presença de DM2 e PDM. O índice tornozelo-braquial foi positivo para doença arterial periférica em 22,3% dos indivíduos. O eletrocardiograma não mostrou aumento de isquemia miocárdica. CONCLUSÃO: A comunidade está exposta aos fatores de risco maiores para doença cardiovascular, o que pode ser resumido pela alta prevalência de diagnóstico de SM e valores elevados de HOMA-IR. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease in Japanese-Brazilian subjects. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: One hundred thirty-one residents of the Mombuca community were studied. Statistical analysis was based on the X² test, Fisher's Exact test, Student's t test, and ANOVA, at a 5% significance level. RESULTS: The average age was 56.7 years-old; 76.3% had dyslipidemia, 24.4% pre-diabetes (PDM), 10.7% type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), 46.6% hypertension, 52.7% abdominal obesity, and 35.8% metabolic syndrome (MS). There were significant correlations between HOMA-IR and MS diagnosis and obesity, while HOMA-β levels were decreased in T2DM and PDM. The ankle-brachial index was positive for peripheral artery disease in 22.3% of the individuals. Electrocardiograms did not show increased evidence of myocardial ischemia. CONCLUSION: Subjects of this community are exposed to major cardiovascular risk factors, namely high prevalence of MS diagnoses and increased HOMA-IR. Arq Bras Endocrinol Metab. 2012;56(9):608-13
