CONTEXTUALIZAÇÃO: O diabetes mellitus é uma doença comum na população idosa e representa um dos principais problemas de Saúde Pública em todo o mundo. Os indivíduos acometidos pelo diabetes mellitus apresentam predisposição a desenvolver neuropatias, que podem ser diagnosticadas pela detecção de pontos de maior pressão e sensibilidade tátil diminuída. OBJETIVO: Avaliar a amplitude da oscilação do centro de pressão na posição bipodal com olhos abertos e sensibilidade tátil plantar após 12 semanas de treinamento proprioceptivo. MATERIAIS E MÉTODOS: Foram recrutadas 13 voluntárias diabéticas, com idade média de 61,77 (±7,55 anos). A avaliação sensitiva e baropodométrica foi realizada antes e após seis e 12 semanas de intervenção fisioterapêutica. Esta foi aplicada duas vezes por semana e constou de um circuito composto por 13 estações com diferentes texturas. Os valores referentes à sensibilidade tátil foram submetidos ao teste de análise de variância de Friedman. Dados quanto à oscilação ântero-posterior (AP) e médio-lateral (ML) do centro de pressão foram analisados pelo teste rank de Wilcoxon. RESULTADOS: Em relação aos valores referentes à oscilação AP do centro de força, houve diferença significativa (p<0,05) entre os valores antes, após seis e 12 semanas de intervenção fisioterapêutica, porém não houve diferença significativa (p>0,05) quanto à oscilação ML entre os grupos ao longo do tempo. Os resultados também apontam melhora significativa (p<0,05) na sensibilidade tátil dos pontos analisados. CONCLUSÕES: Diante dos resultados obtidos, pode-se concluir que o treinamento utilizado foi efetivo para incremento da sensibilidade tátil plantar e redução da oscilação AP na população estudada.

BACKGROUND: Diabetes mellitus is a common disease among the elderly and represents one of the principal public health problems worldwide. Individuals who suffer from diabetes mellitus present a predisposition to develop neuropathies. These problems can be diagnosed by means of the detection of points with greater pressure and diminished tactile sensitivity. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the center of pressure oscillatory amplitude in the bipedal position with eyes open and the plantar tactile sensitivity after 12 weeks of proprioceptive training. METHODS: Thirteen diabetic volunteers of mean age 61.77±7.55 years were recruited. Baropodometric and sensitivity evaluations were performed before the physical therapy intervention and after six and 12 weeks of therapy. The therapy was applied twice a week and consisted of a circuit composed of 13 stations with different textures. The tactile sensitivity values were subjected to the Friedman analysis of variance test. The data on the anteroposterior and mediolateral oscillation of the center of pressure were analyzed using the Wilcoxon rank test. RESULTS: For the anteroposterior oscillation of the force center, there were significant differences (p<0.05) between the values before and after six and twelve weeks of physical therapy intervention. However, there were no significant differences (p>0.05) regarding mediolateral oscillation between the groups over the course of time. The results also showed significant improvement (p<0.05) in the tactile sensitivity of the points analyzed. CONCLUSIONS: It can be concluded that the training undertaken was effective in increasing the plantar tactile sensitivity and reducing the anteroposterior oscillation of the center of pressure in the studied sample.

OBJETIVO: Identificar a variação de percepção sensorial e resposta motora nas diferentes fases do ciclo menstrual (CM). MÉTODO: 30 mulheres com idade entre 18 e 40 anos (23,7 ± 3,60), com índice de massa corporal entre 18,5 e 25kg/m² (21,15 ± 2,32) e CM entre 21-35 dias participaram do estudo. Utilizou-se um gerador de pulso com correntes elétricas pulsadas, freqüência de 50Hz e fases variando em 20 (B20), 50 (B50), 100 (B100), 300 (B300), 500 (B500), 1000 (B1000) e 3000µs (B3000). O limiar de percepção sensorial (LPS) foi identificado como a primeira sensação de corrente ao aumento da intensidade e o limiar de resposta motora (LRM) como a mínima contração muscular detectada. Realizaram-se cinco coletas, sendo uma em cada fase: fase 1- menstrual (F1), fase 2- proliferativa (F2), fase 3- ovulatória (F3), fase 4- lútea (F4) e fase 5- pré-menstrual (F5). A análise dos dados constou do teste de Friedman seguido do teste de Rank, realizados no programa Bioestat 4.0®, com nível de significância de 5%. Resultados: O LPS foi menor na F5 quando comparado às demais fases menstruais, para as correntes B20, B300, B500, B1000, B3000. Para o LRM houve diferença nas correntes B20, B50, B500 e B1000 entre todas as fases com a F5; na corrente B100, entre a F1 e F5; e nas correntes B300 e B3000 entre F1, F2 e F3 com a F5. CONCLUSÕES: O limiar de percepção sensorial e a resposta motora variaram sistematicamente através das fases do CM, influenciando o comportamento sensório-motor.

OBJECTIVE: To identify the variation of sensory perception and motor response in the different phases of the menstrual cycle. METHOD: Thirty women aged 18 to 40 years old (23.7 ± 3.60), with body mass index between 18.5 and 25kg/m² (21.15 ± 2.32) and menstrual cycle of 21-35 days, participated in this study. A pulse generator was used, with pulsed electric current frequency of 50Hz and variable phases of 20 (L20), 50 (L50), 100 (L100), 300 (L300), 500 (L500), 1000 (L1000) and 3000µs (L3000). The threshold of sensory perception (TSP) was identified as the first sensation of increased current intensity and the threshold of motor response (TMR) as the minimum muscle contraction detected. Five collections were done, at each of the following phases: phase 1- menstrual (P1), phase 2- follicular (P2), phase 3- ovulatory (P3), phase 4- luteal (P4) and phase 5- premenstrual (P5). The data analysis consisted of the Friedman test followed by the Rank test, carried out in the BioStat 4.0® software, with a significance level of 5%. RESULTS: The TSP was lower in P5 than in the other menstrual phases, for the L20, L300, L500, L1000 and L3000 currents. For the TMR, there was difference in the L20, L50, L500 and L1000 currents between P5 and all other phases; in the L100 current, between P1 and P5; and in the L300 and L3000 currents for P1, P2 and P3 versus P5. CONCLUSIONS: The thresholds of sensory perception and motor response varied systematically through the phases of the menstrual cycle, thus influencing motor-sensory behavior.

OBJETIVO: Analisar a pressão plantar e o equilíbrio postural nos três trimestres de gravidez, bem como a correlação com as características antropométricas. METODOLOGIA: 60 voluntárias com idade média de 23,3 ± 5,5 anos, sendo 15 mulheres em cada grupo: não-gestantes (C), primeiro (1T), segundo (2T) e terceiro trimestre (3T). A avaliação foi efetuada por meio de plataforma de pressão na posição bipodal com os olhos abertos. As variáveis analisadas nos pés direito e esquerdo foram: pico de pressão em todo o pé (PT), no antepé (PA) e no retropé (PR); distância entre a borda medial dos pés (largura da base de suporte); distância do centro de força ao limite anterior (CFF) e posterior (CFC) dos pés; deslocamento ântero-posterior (AP) e médio--lateral (ML) do centro de força; e área de contato (AC). RESULTADOS: Não houve diferença no pico de pressão de contato e na distância CFF e CFC entre os grupos. O deslocamento AP foi maior (p< 0,05) no grupo 3T em relação ao 1T. Não se observou diferença (p> 0,05) entre os grupos para o deslocamento ML. Houve correlação positiva entre peso ganho durante a gestação com AC para o grupo 2T e com PT no pé direito do grupo 1T. CONCLUSÃO: Os resultados demonstram a influência das mudanças anatômicas e fisiológicas inerentes à gestação na pressão plantar, além de sugerir uma redução do equilíbrio postural no 3T, relacionada ao maior deslocamento AP nessa fase.

OBJECTIVE: To analyze plantar pressure and postural balance during the three trimesters of pregnancy, and also to correlate these with anthropometric characteristics. METHOD: Sixty volunteers participated in this study, with a mean age of 23.3 ± 5.5 years. There were 15 subjects in each group: non-pregnant (C), first trimester (1T), second trimester (2T) and third trimester (3T). Evaluations were performed in bipedal stance with open eyes, using a pressure platform. The following variables were analyzed in the right and left feet: peak pressures in the whole foot (WFP), forefoot (FFP) and hindfoot (HFP); distance between the medial borders of the foot (width of support base); the distance from the center of force to the anterior (COF-A) and posterior (COF-P) limits of the foot; anteroposterior (AP) and mediolateral (ML) COF displacements; and the contact area (CA). RESULTS: There were no differences in peak contact pressures and COF-A and COF-P distances between the groups. The AP displacement was greater (p< 0.05) in 3T than in 1T. There was no difference (p> 0.05) between the groups regarding ML displacement. There was a positive correlation between weight gained during pregnancy and CA for the 2T group, and between weight gain and WFP in the right feet in the 1T group. CONCLUSION: The results demonstrate the influence of the anatomical and physiological changes inherent to pregnancy on plantar pressure. They also suggest that postural equilibrium decreases in the third trimester, associated with greater AP displacement during this phase.
