Resumo À luz da Psicologia Positiva Organizacional e do Trabalho, flow e engajamento estão relacionados a bem-estar e sucesso empresarial. Esse estudo examina as relações entre flow e engajamento no trabalho e apresenta as principais conceituações a respeito deles. Para isso, foi realizada uma revisão de literatura. A coleta de dados baseou-se na procura por produções com os descritores “flow” e “engajamento”, “recursos pessoais”, “recursos do trabalho” e termos relacionados. Essa busca resultou em 49 estudos, os quais foram lidos e classificados de acordo com informações sobre conteúdo, ano da publicação, definições, tipos e conceitos associados. Dentre os achados, flow e engajamento estão ligados a resultados superiores nos negócios das empresas, no desempenho do trabalhador e em sua satisfação de vida. Os estudos apontam para uma ampla gama de aplicações, mas ainda há necessidade de novas pesquisas.

Abstract In the light of Positive Organizational and Work Psychology, flow and engagement are related with well-being and business success. This study examines the relationships between flow and work engagement,while presenting the main concepts about them. A literature review was carried out. Data collection were based on the research for studies with the descriptors “flow” and “engagement”, “personal resources”, “labor resources” and related terms. This search resulted in 49 studies, which were read and classified according to information about content, year of publication, definitions, types and associated concepts. Among the findings, flow and engagement are linked to superior results in business, worker performance and life satisfaction. Studies point to a wide range of applications, but there is still a need for further research.

Resumen Según la Psicología Positiva Organizacional y del Trabajo, flujo y compromiso están relacionados con bienestar y éxito empresarial. Este estudio examina las relaciones entre flujo y compromiso, y presenta las principales concepciones sobre ellos. Para esto, se realizó una revisión de literatura. La recolección de datos se basó en la búsqueda por producciones con los descriptores “flujo” y “compromiso”, “recursos personales”, “recursos del trabajo” y términos relacionados. Esta búsqueda tuvo como resultado 49 estudios, los cuales fueron leídos y clasificados de acuerdo con informaciones sobre contenido, año de publicación, definiciones, tipos y conceptos asociados. Entre los hallazgos, flujo y compromiso están ligados a resultados superiores en los negocios de las empresas, en el desempeño del trabajador y en la satisfacción de vida. Los estudios revelan una amplia gama de aplicaciones, pero todavía hay necesidad de nuevas investigaciones.

Abstract Item response theory (IRT) has become a popular methodological framework for modeling response data from assessments in education and health; however, its use is not widespread among psychologists. This paper aims to provide a didactic application of IRT and to highlight some of these advantages for psychological test development. IRT was applied to two scales (a positive and a negative affect scale) of a self-report test. Respondents were 853 university students (57 % women) between the ages of 17 and 35 and who answered the scales. IRT analyses revealed that the positive affect scale has items with moderate discrimination and are measuring respondents below the average score more effectively. The negative affect scale also presented items with moderate discrimination and are evaluating respondents across the trait continuum; however, with much less precision. Some features of IRT are used to show how such results can improve the measurement of the scales. The authors illustrate and emphasize how knowledge of the features of IRT may allow test makers to refine and increase the validity and reliability of other psychological measures.

Abstract The present longitudinal study tested hypotheses about the relationship of subjective well-being and neuroticism with rumination, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress in university students after a large scale disaster. Measures of subjective well-being and personality were obtained two months before the 2013 Santa Maria’s fire. Measures of rumination, PTSD and anxiety were collected five months after the disaster with the same students. The results provide evidence that life satisfaction correlated negatively with rumination, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. Positive affect presented similar but slightly smaller negative correlations with these variables, while negative affect presented higher correlations with rumination, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress. These findings provide evidence that subjective well-being components may constitute important predictors of psychopathological symptomatology after a disaster and may be helpful to plan clinical interventions.

Abstract The Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ) is used to assess authentic leadership (AL). Although ALQ is often used in empirical research, cross-cultural studies with this measure are scarce. Aiming to contribute to filling this gap, this study assesses the invariance of the ALQ measure between samples of Brazilian (N= 1019) and Portuguese (N= 842) employees. A multi-group confirmatory factor analysis was performed, and the results showed the invariance of the first- and second-order factor models between the Brazilian and Portuguese samples. The results are discussed considering their cultural setting, with the study’s limitations and future research directions being pointed out.

ResumoEste artigo teve como objetivo examinar as ações de internacionalização dos Programas de Pós-graduação brasileiros. Utilizou dados da Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (Capes), Ministério da Educação (MEC), que trienalmente realiza a Avaliação dos cursos. Recentemente, a avaliação passou a ser quadrienal. Valeu-se dos dados declarados no Caderno de Indicadores de produções de cada Programa, que, selecionados de acordo com 8 critérios, permitiram o agrupamento das atividades. Em seguida, examinou os comentários realizados pela Ficha de Avaliação. Mostrou que ações de internacionalização são variadas e estão maciçamente presentes nos Programas brasileiros (n=49). Observou que a Avaliação privilegia a produção em publicações estrangeiras, quase sempre em detrimento das diversas ações que contribuem efetivamente para a internacionalização. Concluiu que, apesar da publicação em veículos internacionais ser um indicador relevante, não aponta em definitivo para a participação na produção internacional de conhecimento. A procura, por parte de alunos e pesquisadores, pela formação que é dada no país seria o indicador mais preciso de internacionalização. Nenhum curso, no período examinado, ofertava cursos que pudessem ser acompanhados por não falantes do português. Apesar dos esforços já realizados em direção a uma efetiva internacionalização, resta o importante e urgente passo: tornar a pós-graduação nacional um ponto de referência na comunidade internacional.

AbstractThis article aims to examine the internationalization actions of Brazilian Postgraduate Programs. Data were used from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the Ministry of Education (MEC), which perform an evaluation of postgraduate courses every three years. Recently, the period was changed to four years. The data reported in the Indicators Booklet of productions of each program, selected according to 8 criteria, allowed the grouping of activities. The comments made on the Evaluation Form were then examined. This showed that internationalization actions are varied and are overwhelmingly present in the Brazilian programs (n= 49). It was verified that the evaluation valorizes production in international publications, often to the detriment of the various actions that effectively contribute to internationalization. It was concluded that, despite publication in international media being a relevant indicator, it does not definitively indicate participation in international knowledge production. The demand, on behalf of students and researchers, for the qualification that is provided in the country would be the most accurate indicator of internationalization. No courses, in the period examined, accommodated non-Portuguese speakers. Despite the efforts already made toward effective internationalization, there remains the important and urgent step: to make the National Postgraduate System a reference point in the international community.

No intuito de investigar o crescimento da psicologia do desenvolvimento como campo de pesquisa no Brasil, este estudo examinou 40 artigos da área, publicados em dois periódicos nacionais, entre 1991 e 2000. Os artigos foram analisados quanto a autoria, aspectos metodológicos e uso de referências. Os resultados indicaram a prevalência de artigos empíricos, de estudos com crianças e adolescentes, e do uso de técnicas de análise descritivas. Verificou-se ainda uma concentração da produção no Estado de São Paulo e em universidades públicas. Uma análise comparando as duas metades da década mostrou um aumento significativo na proporção de referências recentes e de referências a artigos e capítulos de livros. Os resultados são discutidos no contexto brasileiro de crescimento da pesquisa em psicologia e da consolidação da área de psicologia do desenvolvimento.

The present paper aimed to assess the growth of developmental psychology as a research field in Brazil. Forty papers, published by two leading Brazilian psychology journals between 1991 and 2000, were analyzed. This analysis consisted of an examination of authorship, methodological aspects, and the use of references. The results indicated the prevalence of empirical papers, studies with children and adolescents, and the use of descriptive statistical techniques. Most of the research was conducted in the state of São Paulo and by researchers from federal and state universities. A comparison of the first and second halves of the decade showed a significant increase in the proportion of recent references as well as references to books and chapters. The results are discussed within the Brazilian context of the advances in research in the field of developmental psychology.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver marcadores para a avaliação da personalidade no Modelo dos Cinco Grandes Fatores para uso no Brasil, funcionalmente equivalente ao inventário de Goldberg (1992). Participaram deste estudo 976 estudantes de diversas universidades da região sul do Brasil, de ambos os sexos. Os sujeitos se auto-descreveram, respondendo a um instrumento previamente desenvolvido, que continha 96 termos (adjetivos) obtidos através de um estudo piloto que examinou cerca de 180 descritores de traços frequentemente utilizados em português. Esses termos foram também considerados por juízes como descritores dos cinco fatores. Análises fatoriais, utilizando diferentes métodos de extração, mostraram que uma solução de 5 fatores é apropriada. Independentemente do método de análise, a estrutura fatorial dos itens se mantém estável. Os fatores extraídos correspondem aos descritos na literatura. O primeiro fator foi "Socialização" ("agreableness"), seguido por "Extroversão", "Escrupulosidade" ("conscientiousness"), "Neuroticismo" e "Abertura para Experiência". Os resultados mostraram ainda que os marcadores retidos formam escalas psicometricamente adequadas.

The aim of the present paper was to develop markers for personality assessment within the framework of the Big Five Personality Factors Model in Brazilian Portuguese that are functionally equivalent to those developed by Goldberg (1992). The participants were 976 students of both sexes of several universities in southern Brazil. Subjects described themselves using 96 adjectives which were previously obtained in a pilot study that examined 180-trait descriptors frequently used in Portuguese. These descriptors were also considered by judges as descriptors of the Big Five Factors. Factor analysis, using different extraction methods showed that a 5-factor solution was adequate. Independently of the method of analysis, the items loaded in the same factors and the extraction order did not vary. The first factor was Agreeableness, followed by Extroversion, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism e Intellect.
