ABSTRACT The objective of this work was to understand the relationship between decomposition of leaf litter and climatic elements and determine the mineralization of nutrients in the decomposition process in a fragment of Semideciduous Submontane Forest, located in southern state of of Espírito Santo. Overall, 84 litterbags were deposited in 12 permanent plots, collecting one litterbag per plot for 30, 60, 90, 150, 210, 270 and 360 days after the beginning of the experiment. The leaf material remaining in the litterbag was oven-dried and weighed, with later analysis of nutritional compounds. The leaf litter decomposition rate was 1.42, 75.95% of decomposing litter at the end of the evaluation period. Mineralization occurred in the following order: K, Corg., Mg, S, P, N and Ca. There was a positive correlation of average and minimum air temperature, as well as accumulated precipitation and leaf litter decomposition .

O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o crescimento de espécies florestais nativas mediante a utilização de diferentes métodos de restauração florestal e submetidas a diferentes técnicas de manutenção, em uma Mata de Tabuleiros. O experimento foi instalado em agosto de 2007, na Reserva Natural Vale (RNV), Linhares, ES, em blocos casualizados que consistiram em quatro tratamentos e três repetições, sendo: T1 (Controle) controle de formigas-cortadeiras; T2 capina química seletiva e controle de formigas e das espécies tolerantes ao herbicida; T3 Idem ao T2 + plantio de 14 espécies pioneiras da Mata Atlântica (espaçamento: 5 x 5 m) intercalado com semeio de Sesbania grandiflora em covas; e T4 Idem ao T2 + plantio de 54 espécies da Mata Atlântica (3 x 3 m). Foram medidos e identificados os indivíduos com DAP ≥ a 5 cm, no momento da implantação do experimento e nos três anos posteriores. No terceiro ano, também foi coletado o IAF. As famílias mais ricas em espécies no terceiro ano de estudo foram Fabaceae, Anacardiaceae e Lecythidaceae, sendo somente no T4 observadas espécies nos quatro grupos ecológicos. O maior índice de área foliar foi observado no T3, indicando maior sombreamento da área. O ingresso de número de indivíduos e de área basal foi superior nos T3 e T4, sugerindo maior crescimento da vegetação, em que houve plantio de mudas. De forma geral, a eliminação da matocompetição atuou positivamente no crescimento da vegetação arbórea.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth of native forest species using different forest restoration methods and under different maintenance techniques, in a Tableland Forest. The experiment was installed in August 2007 in ‘Reserva Natural Vale (RNV), Linhares, ES, in a randomized blocks that consisted of 4 treatments and 3 replications: T1 (control) ants control; T2 selective chemical weeding, ants control and control of herbicide tolerant species; T3 same as T2 + planting of 14 pioneer species of the Atlantic Rainforest (spacing: 5 x 5 m) and intercalated seeding of Sesbania grandiflora in pits; and T4 same as T2 + planting of 54 species of the Atlantic Rainforest (3 x 3 m). Plants with DBH ≥ 5 cm were measured and identified at the time of the installation of the experiment and the three subsequent years. In the third year the IAF was also collected. The richest families in species in the third year of study were Fabaceae, Anacardiaceae and Lecythidaceae, and only in T4 species were observed in the four ecological groups. The higher leaf area index was observed in T3, indicating greater shading area. The ingrowth of plants and basal area was higher in T3 and T4, suggesting greater vegetation growth, where seedlings were planted. In general, the elimination of weed competition worked positively in the tree growth.

O uso de mudas bem nutridas e de qualidade, é um dos fatores que contribui para o sucesso da implantação de plantios florestais. Neste estudo, objetivou-se verificar por meio de características morfológicas, os efeitos dos nutrientes nitrogênio, fósforo e potássio no crescimento de mudas do jacarandá-da-bahia (Dalbergia nigra ((Vell.) Fr. All. para estabelecer a dose ideal de cada nutriente a ser adicionada em diferentes substratos, visando a garantir a produção de mudas com melhor qualidade. Para tanto, as mudas foram produzidas, em três tipos de solos: Argissolo Vermelho-amarelo mestrófico (PVAm), Latossolo Vermelho-amarelo álico (LVAa) e Latossolo Vermelho-amarelo distrófico (LVAd). O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação no período de fevereiro de 2006 a junho de 2006. Foram delimitados 11 tratamentos, segundo uma matriz baconiana, onde se variaram os nutrientes (N, P e K) em três doses diferentes e dois tratamentos adicionais (zero e referência). Adotou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições. As mudas foram plantadas em vasos com capacidade de 2,1 dm³, e após 120 dias da semeadura foram coletados as dados. Após análise dos dados, concluiu-se que para a produção de mudas de jacarandá-da-bahia recomenda-se a adição doses iguais ou superiores a 600 mg.dm-3 de P e 200 mg.dm-3 de N, quando se usar terra de subsolo na produção de mudas, provenientes de Latossolo Vermelho-amarelo e 300 mg.dm-3 de P e 90 mg.dm-3 de N quando usar Argissolo Vermelho-amarelo. Quanto à adição de K, como as mudas se mostraram pouco exigentes, ou os teores disponíveis nos solos foram suficientes para o suprimento de suas necessidades, recomenda-se a aplicação de dose mínima testada que é de 50 mg.dm-3 de solo, até que novos estudos com dose inferiores a esta sejam testados.

The use of well-nourished and quality seedlings is one of the factors that contribute to the successful implementation of forest plantations. The present study aimed to verify, by means of morphological characteristics, the effects of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium on the growth of jacarandá-da-bahia seedlings (Dalbergia nigra ((Vell.) Fr. All. in order to establish the optimal dose of each nutrient to be added in different substrates thus aiming to ensure the production of seedlings with better quality. The seedlings were produced in three types of soils: mesotrophic Ultisol (PVAm), Alic Oxisol (LVAa) and distrofic Oxisol (LVAd). The experiment was conducted under greenhouse conditions from February to June of 2006. 11 treatments were defined according baconian matrix, in which the nutrients (N, P and K) ranged in three different doses and two additional treatments (Zero and Reference). A completely randomized design with four replications was adopted. The seedlings were planted in pots with a capacity of 2.1 dm³ and 120 days after sowing the data was collected. After analyzing the data, it was concluded that for the production of jacarandá-da-bahia seedlings it is recommended an addition of dosages greater than or equal to 600 mg.dm-3 of P and 200 mg.dm-3 of N when using underground earth in the production of seedlings, from distrofic Oxisol and 300 mg.dm-3 of P and 90 mg.dm-3 of N when using mesotrophic Ultisol. As for the addition of K, since the seedlings were undemanding or the available contents in the soil were sufficient to supply their needs, it is recommended the application of the minimum tested dose of 50 mg.dm-3 of soil until further studies with lower doses is tested.

O jacarandá (Dalbergia nigra (Vell.) Allemão ex Benth) é uma espécie da família Leguminosae-Fabaceae, com potencial para diversos usos, incluindo recuperação de áreas degradadas. Neste trabalho, objetivou-se verificar o crescimento das mudas de jacarandá-da-bahia sob diferentes doses dos nutrientes cálcio, magnésio e enxofre, em solos com características diferentes. O experimento foi conduzido em casa de vegetação no período de fevereiro de 2006 a junho de 2006. Os tratamentos foram delimitados segundo uma matriz baconiana, em que se variaram os nutrientes em três doses e dois tratamentos adicionais (zero e referência). Adotou-se o delineamento inteiramente casualizado com quatro repetições, num total de 44 unidades amostrais. As mudas foram conduzidas em vasos plásticos com capacidade para 2,1 dm-3 e colhidas aos 120 dias após a semeadura, sendo avaliadas diversas características morfológicas. A espécie se mostrou, em geral, pouco exigente em relação à aplicação dos nutrientes. Enquanto novos estudos, com doses menores às testadas neste, não sejam feitos, e tomando como base a massa seca total e as condições similares à desse experimento, indicam-se as doses de: 0,8 cmol c dm-3 de solo de Ca e 20 mg dm-3 de solo de S, independente do solo testado; e 0,2 e 0,8 cmol c dm-3 de solo de Mg para solos com características similares ao PVAm e LVAd, respectivamente

The jacaranda (Dalbergia nigra (Vell.) Allemão ex Benth) is a specie with potential for several uses, including recovery degraded areas. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of calcium, magnesium and sulfur, on the seedlings growth under different soil types. The experiment was conducted in a greenhouse from February 2006 to June 2006. The treatments were delimited according to a Baconian matrix where nutrients are varied in three different doses and two additional treatments (zero and reference). A complete randomized design with four replications was established in a total of 44 sample units. The seedlings were grown in pots with a capacity for 2.1 dm-3, and collected at 120 days after sowing and evaluated several morphological characteristics. The specie was generally undemanding regarding the application of nutrients, and the doses recommended when classified as low by the hand of fertilization. While further studies with doses lower than those tested in this, are not made, and building on the total dry mass and conditions similar to this experiment, are indicated doses: 0.8 cmolc dm-³ of soil Ca and 20 mg dm-³ of soil S, regardless of the test soil; and 0.2 and 0.8 cmolc dm-³ soil Mg to soils with similar characteristics to the PVAm and LVAd, respectively.
