<p>Recently, the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) published a validation and analytical quality control guide called the “Guia de Validação e Controle de Qualidade Analítica – Fármacos em Produtos para Alimentação Animal e Medicamentos Veterinários”, in order to guide officers and accredited laboratories in the validation of analytical methods for the quality control of veterinary medicines, drug contaminants in feed and depletion studies (residues of drugs in biological matrices). The aim of this study was to present a critical evaluation of the concepts and procedures defined in this document. The Guide was applied for the validation of chromatographic methods intended to be used for the quantification of antimicrobial and antiparasitic drugs in veterinary medicines. Methods for the determination of ivermectin, abamectin, sulfadiazine, sulfadimethoxine, sulfaquinoxaline, streptomycin, dihydrostreptomycin and florfenicol were validated using the Guide. Each validation parameter was evaluated and discussed. A total of 55 samples of veterinary drugs were analyzed.</p>

The convenience of the multivariate optimization of SPME procedures through ANOVA calculated using Doehlert designs has been demonstrated for twelve PCBs in the complex matrix of milk. For this study, the main parameters of the extraction were selected and valued through univariate and multivariate optimization. In addition, the analysis of variance allowed identification of the statistically significant variables in this model: high temperature (95 ºC) and ionic strength (36% m/v) proved significant for all the PCBs while intermediate time (70 min) and low methanol concentration (5% v/v) also contributed to the extraction of the majority of these PCBs.

O (E)-2-nonenal é considerado um importante off-flavor da cerveja, sendo relacionado ao sabor de cerveja envelhecida. Neste estudo, um novo método para determinação de (E)-2-nonenal em cerveja usando microextração em fase sólida do headspace e cromatografia a gás acoplada à espectrometria de massa (HS-SPME-GC-MS) foi desenvolvido e aplicado em amostras de cerveja brasileira. As extrações foram realizadas utilizando a fibra CAR/PDMS (carboxen/polidimetilsiloxano), com 15 minutos de tempo de equilíbrio e 90 minutos de exposição da fibra a 50 °C. O método foi linear na faixa de 0,02 e 4,0 μg.L-1, com coeficiente de correlação de 0,9994. Os limites de detecção e quantificação foram 0,01 e 0,02 μg.L-1, respectivamente. Foram obtidos 96,5% de recuperação e 4% de variação entre replicatas de amostras de cerveja fortificadas com 2,0 μg.L-1 de (E)-2-nonenal. O método desenvolvido foi considerado simples, eficiente e altamente sensível para a determinação deste analito, sendo facilmente aplicado no controle de qualidade das cervejarias. O (E)-2-nonenal foi encontrado em todas as amostras de cervejas analisadas com níveis entre 0,17 to 0,42 μg.L-1.

(E)-2-nonenal is considered an important off-flavor of beer, related to the flavor of beer staling. In this study, a new method for determination of (E)-2-nonenal in beer using headspace solid-phase microextraction and gas chromatographic coupled mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) was developed and applied in Brazilian beer samples. The extractions were carried out in CAR-PDMS (carboxen-polydimethylsiloxane) fiber and the best results were found with 15 minutes of equilibrium and 90 minutes of extraction at 50 °C. The method was linear in the range from 0.02 to 4.0 μg.L-1 with correlation coefficient of 0.9994. The limits of detection and quantification were 0.01 and 0.02 μg.L-1, respectively. 96.5% of recovery and 4% precision (RSD) were obtained in the fortification of beer samples with 2.0 μg.L-1 of (E)-2-nonenal. The developed method proved to be simple, efficient and highly sensitive to the determination of this analyte being easily applied in the quality control of the brewery. (E)-2-nonenal was found in all beer samples analyzed with levels between 0.17 and 0.42 μg.L-1.

The objective of this research was to determine the levels of enrichment of vitamins B1, B2, B6 and B3 in different types and brands of enriched cookies. The chromatographic separation was performed in a C18 column with gradient elution and UV detection at 254 and 287 nm. The results show that only 5 of the 24 brands evaluated are in accordance with the Brazilian legislation with respect to the vitamin content declared on the labels. However, consumption of approximately 100-150 g of most of the brands supplies the recommended dietary intake for children and adults of the vitamins evaluated.
