Este estudo buscou identificar as sintomatologias osteomusculares referidas pelos atletas que participavam de uma competição de CrossFit® realizada em Fortaleza, Ceará, Brasil, no mês de dezembro de 2016. A amostra foi composta por 195 praticantes, sendo eles, atletas da categoria RX, intermediário ou scaled que procuraram o serviço de Fisioterapia antes, durante ou depois das provas. Os dados foram obtidos através de um questionário desenvolvido para o inquérito científico. A análise estatística foi realizada através da associação entre as variáveis através do teste Pearson Chi-Square com o fator de correção de Monte Carlo e os resultados confrontados com a literatura nacional e internacional sobre o assunto vigente em questão. Observou-se que a média de idade dos indivíduos era de 30,63±6,97 anos, com um tempo de prática de 15,56±0,95 meses, sendo prevalente o sexo masculino e a categoria scaled. 34,4% dos participantes procuraram o serviço de Fisioterapia após finalizar todas as provas da competição. A localização corporal com presença da sintomatologia dolorosa foi: quadríceps (25,8%), seguido da lombar (13,1%) e do ombro (11,9%) sendo que 42,6% dos entrevistados referiram por fadiga, seguido por dor articular (30,8%). A maioria tinha preferência por liberação miofascial e 25,6% não faziam nenhum tipo de tratamento antes das competições por não apresentarem sintomas, e, aqueles que tinham acompanhamento faziam na maioria das vezes fisioterapia eletrotermofototerápica (39%). Destaca-se que grande parte dos participantes relataram mais sintomas agudos e leves, sendo na maioria das vezes por fadiga pós prova. É importante o envolvimento do fisioterapeuta de forma contínua visando prevenção, tratamento da fase aguda e diminuição dos níveis de lesões. Este estudo forneceu dados sobre os principais locais e sintomas referidos pelos atletas de CrossFit® durante uma competição, bem como as principais categorias que necessitam de uma melhor abordagem e atenção.
This study aimed to identify the musculoskeletal symptoms reported by athletes participating in a CrossFit® competition held in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil, in December 2016. The sample consisted of 195 athletes, being athletes of category RX, intermediate or scaled who sought the Physiotherapy service before, during or after the tests. The data were obtained through a questionnaire developed for the scientific investigation. The statistical analysis was performed through the association between the variables through the Pearson Chi-Square test with the Monte Carlo correction factor and the results confronted with the national and international literature on the current issue in question. It was observed that the mean age of the individuals was 30.63 ± 6.97 years, with a practice time of 15.56 ± 0.95 months, being the male and the scaled category prevalent. 34.4% of the participants sought the Physiotherapy service after finishing all the competitions. The body location with the presence of painful symptoms was: quadriceps (25.8%), followed by lumbar (13.1%) and shoulder (11.9%), with 42.6% of respondents reporting fatigue, followed by joint pain (30.8%). The majority had myofascial release preference, and 25.6% did not have any type of treatment before the competitions because they did not present symptoms, and those who had follow-up most often had electrothermo-photometric therapy (39%). It is noteworthy that most of the participants reported more acute and mild symptoms, most of them being post-test fatigue. It is important to involve the physiotherapist continuously in order to prevent, treat the acute phase and decrease the levels of injuries. This study provided data on the major sites and symptoms reported by CrossFit® athletes during a competition, as well as the major categories that need better approach and attention.
