ABSTRACT Objective: to identify the eating patterns of the adult population from Antioquia, Colombia, and their association with socioeconomic variables. Methods: a cross-sectional study was performed with a random sample of 1,394 adults aged 18 to 59 years, derived from the Antioquia Food and Nutritional Profile 2019 study. Food consumption was evaluated with a 24-hour consumption recall (R24h) and a second R24h on a non-consecutive day at 25% of the sample, food consumption was quantified in grams, and food patterns were established by factorial analysis by Principal Components with varimax orthogonal rotation. To verify the association between eating patterns and socioeconomic variables, Poisson regression was used for robust variance. Results: three eating patterns were defined that represent 28.1% of the variance: “Traditional” (9.8%), “Regional” (9.7%), and “Prudent” (8.6%). The first two were associated with demographic variables, such as gender, age, and ethnicity; while the latter was associated with socioeconomic variables such as schooling, family income, social security system, and food security classification. Conclusions: The findings of this study show that the diet of the population of the study, follows some references to food tradition, reflected in the Traditional and Regional patterns, while the Prudent pattern corresponds to the part of the population that has better socioeconomic conditions, and they probably follow it for health recommendation.

RESUMEN Objetivo: identificar los patrones alimentarios de la población adulta Antioqueña y su asociación con variables socioeconómicas. Métodos: estudio transversal con muestra aleatoria de 1.394 adultos de 18 a 59 años, derivados del estudio Perfil alimentario y nutricional de Antioquia 2019. El consumo alimentario fue evaluado con recordatorio de consumo en 24 horas (R24h) y un segundo R24h en día no consecutivo al 25% de la muestra, se cuantificó el consumo de alimentos en gramos, los patrones alimentarios se establecieron mediante análisis factorial por Componentes principales con rotación ortogonal varimax. Para verificar la asociación entre los patrones alimentarios y las variables socioeconómicas se empleó regresión de Poisson por varianza robusta. Resultados: se definieron tres patrones alimentarios que representan el 28,1% de la varianza: “Tradicional” (9,8%), “Regional” (9,7%) y “Prudente” (8,6%). Los dos primeros se asociaron con variables demográficas, como sexo, edad y etnia; mientras que el último se asoció con variables socioeconómicas como escolaridad, ingresos familiares, régimen de seguridad social y clasificación de seguridad alimentaria. Conclusiones: Los hallazgos del presente estudio muestran que la dieta de la población estudiada, sigue unos referentes de tradición alimentaria, reflejados en los patrones Tradicional y Regional, mientras que el patrón Prudente, corresponde a la parte de la población que tiene mejores condiciones socioeconómicas y probablemente lo siguen por recomendación de salud.

Abstract The scope of this article is to describe the main components of the food systems of Brazil, Colombia and Panama. It involved a narrative review of the literature from 2000 to 2022, based on the concept of food systems proposed by the Committee on World Food Security. A system of agro-industrial production, monoculture, use of pesticides and exploitation of natural resources predominates in all three countries, and the area occupied by family farmers is reduced. Multinational supermarket chains dominate food distribution, essentially in large urban centers, despite the increasing search for alternative models. Advances have been made in food labeling regulation (Colombia and Brazil) and in the taxation of sugar-sweetened beverages (Panama). The predominant food systems in these countries generate a significant and negative environmental impact, favor the consumption of ultra-processed foods, high prevalence of obesity and chronic non-transmissible diseases and increase in hunger, violating the human right to adequate food.

Resumo O objetivo deste artigo é descrever os principais componentes dos sistemas alimentares de Brasil, Colômbia e Panamá. Revisão narrativa de literatura dos anos 2000 a 2022, ancorada no conceito de sistemas alimentares do Comitê de Segurança Alimentar Mundial. Nos três países, predomina um sistema de produção agroindustrial, monocultura, uso de agrotóxicos e exploração dos recursos naturais. A área ocupada por produtores familiares é reduzida. As redes multinacionais de supermercados dominam a distribuição dos alimentos, essencialmente nos grandes centros urbanos, apesar da crescente busca por modelos alternativos. Nota-se avanços na regulamentação da rotulagem de alimentos (Colômbia e Brasil) e na tributação de bebidas açucaradas (Panamá). Os sistemas alimentares predominantes nesses países geram importante e negativo impacto ambiental, favorecem o consumo de alimentos ultraprocessados, a elevada prevalência de obesidade e doenças crônicas não transmissíveis e o aumento da fome, violando o direito humano à alimentação adequada.

Abstract This work aimed to investigate the physicochemical and functional composition of bee pollen produced in different municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Norte/Brazil (RN) and commercial samples produced in other places. To perform these experiments, samples of dehydrated bee pollen were crushed and subjected to physicochemical evaluation, instrumental color, fatty acid profile, evaluation of the presence of bioactive compounds [Total Phenolic Compounds (TPC), carotenoids] and antioxidant activity (reduction of DPPH radical). The pH of the pollen samples varied from 4.55 to 5.08, the protein from 19.01% to 29.71%, and the ash from 2.44% to 4.27%. All pollen samples showed a yellowish-red hue (a* and b* positive), and the pollen produced in Touros/RN/BR stood out with a lighter color (L* = 32.91). The pollen produced in Touros/RN/BR showed a higher (p < 0.05) percentage of saturated fatty acids (41.60%), whereas the pollen collected in Taipu/RN/BR had a higher percentage of monounsaturated fatty acids (7.44%). Pollen samples showed a low concentration of Total Carotenoid Content (TCC) (0.81 to 22.82 µg/g), as well as a high content of TPC (1.79 to 2.28 mg GAE/g) and antioxidant activity (1.40 to 5.70 µmol TE/g) when compared with the consulted literature. According to the obtained results, we could infer that pollen samples from different locations showed variations in physicochemical composition, coloration, fatty acid profile, TPC and antioxidant activity which reflects the geographic diversity inherent to the production sites.

Abstract Data on clinical management options for sleep bruxism in the primary dentition are inconclusive. This umbrella review aimed to synthesize the available evidence from systematic reviews (SRs) on the associated factors and treatment approaches for clinical management of sleep bruxism in children. A search was conducted in the MEDLINE/PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and OpenGrey databases up to March 2022. SRs published on sleep bruxism in children containing data on associated factors or treatment outcomes were included. The AMSTAR-2 tool was used to assess the methodological quality of SRs. The search identified 444 articles, of which six were included. Sleep conditions, respiratory changes, personality traits, and psychosocial factors were the associated factors commonly identified. Treatments included psychological and pharmacological therapies, occlusal devices, physical therapy, and surgical therapy. All SRs included presented a high risk of bias. Overlapping of the included studies was considered very high. The best evidence available to date for the management of sleep bruxism in children is based on associated factors, with sleep duration and conditions, respiratory changes, as well as personality traits and psychosocial factors being the most important factors commonly reported by studies. However, there is currently insufficient evidence to make recommendations for specific treatment options.

ABSTRACT Purpose to verify whether there are differences in acoustic measures and oropharyngeal geometry between healthy individuals and people with Parkinson's disease, according to age and sex, and to investigate whether there are correlations between oropharyngeal geometry measures in this population. Methods 40 individuals participated, 20 with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and 20 healthy individuals, matched by age, sex, and body mass index. Acoustic variables included fundamental frequency, jitter, shimmer, glottal-to-noise excitation ratio, noise, and mean intensity. Oropharyngeal geometry variables were measured with acoustic pharyngometry. Results geometry variables were smaller in the group with Parkinson's disease, and older adults with Parkinson's disease had a smaller oropharyngeal junction area than healthy older adults. Regarding acoustic parameters of voice, fundamental frequency values were lower in males with Parkinson's disease, and jitter values were higher in the non-elderly subjects with Parkinson's disease. There was a moderate positive correlation between oral cavity length and volume, pharyngeal cavity length and vocal tract length, and pharyngeal cavity volume and vocal tract volume. Conclusion individuals with Parkinson's disease had smaller glottal areas and oropharyngeal junction areas than healthy individuals. When distributed into sex and age groups, the fundamental frequency was lower in males with Parkinson's disease. There was a moderate positive correlation between oropharyngeal length and volume measures in the study sample.

RESUMO Objetivo verificar se existem diferenças nas medidas acústicas e da geometria orofaríngea entre indivíduos hígidos e pessoas com Doença de Parkinson, segundo a idade e sexo e investigar se há correlações entre as medidas geométricas orofaríngeas nessa população. Método participaram 40 indivíduos, sendo 20 com diagnóstico de Doença de Parkinson e 20 indivíduos hígidos, pareados por faixa etária, sexo e índice de massa corporal. As variáveis acústicas estudadas foram frequência fundamental, jitter, shimmer, glottal-to-noise excitation ratio, ruído e média da intensidade. As variáveis geométricas da orofaringe foram aferidas por faringometria acústica. Resultados as variáveis geométricas foram menores no grupo com Doença de Parkinson e os idosos com Doença de Parkinson apresentaram menor área da junção orofaríngea que os idosos hígidos. Com relação aos parâmetros acústicos vocais, o valor da frequência fundamental foi menor no sexo masculino, no grupo com Doença de Parkinson e os valores de jitter foram maiores no grupo não idoso dos sujeitos com Doença de Parkinson. Houve correlação positiva moderada entre o comprimento e volume da cavidade oral, comprimento da cavidade faríngea e o comprimento do trato vocal e do volume da cavidade faríngea e o volume do trato vocal. Conclusão indivíduos com Doença de Parkinson apresentaram menores valores de área glótica e área da junção orofaríngea, comparativamente aos hígidos. Quando distribuídos por faixa etária e sexo, a frequência fundamental foi menor no grupo com doença de Parkinson, na população masculina. Houve correlação positiva moderada entre as medidas de comprimento e volume da orofaringe, na amostra estudada.

ABSTRACT Purpose To assess the performance of the phonatory deviation diagram and its measurements in monitoring voice quality before and after voice exercise in individuals with Parkinson's Disease. Methods Retrospective and documentary study. A sample of 30 subjects was used, 50% male, with a mean age of 62.13 ± 9.05 years. The results of the phonatory deviation diagram were analyzed, in the moments before and after vocal exercise with the pushing technique associated with plosive sounds, considering the area, density, shape and location of the diagram in the quadrants. For comparison purposes, the acoustic parameters of jitter, shimmer, glottal to noise excitation ratio and results of the auditory-perceptual analysis, carried out in previous research, were also considered, in the pre- and post-technical moments. Results Despite the fact that there was no difference in the distribution of samples in the diagram, after performing the vocal technique, a change in the displacement of the diagram towards the area of normality was identified in the visual qualitative analysis, and there was an association between the general degree of vocal deviation in the analysis auditory perception and the area of the diagram. There was an improvement in the shimmer values after the vocal technique. Conclusion The displacement of the phonatory deviation diagram towards the area of normality corroborated the results in relation to the general degree of dysphonia, evaluated by the auditory-perceptual analysis and the shimmer results, after the vocal technique. Thus, the diagram shows good performance in monitoring voice quality of individuals with Parkinson’s.

RESUMO Objetivo Verificar o desempenho do diagrama de desvio fonatório e de suas medidas no monitoramento da qualidade da voz, pré e pós exercício vocal, em indivíduos com Doença de Parkinson. Método Estudo retrospectivo e documental. Utilizou-se uma amostra de 30 sujeitos, sendo 50% do sexo masculino, com média de idade de 62,13 ± 9,05 anos. Foram analisados os resultados do diagrama de desvio fonatório, nos momentos pré e pós exercício vocal com a técnica de empuxo associada aos sons plosivos, considerando-se a área, densidade, forma e localização do diagrama nos quadrantes. Para fins de comparação, os parâmetros acústicos de jitter, shimmer, glottal to noise excitation ratio e resultados da análise perceptivo-auditiva, realizada em pesquisa anterior, também foram considerados, nos momentos pré e pós-técnica. Resultados A despeito de não ocorrer diferença na distribuição das amostras no diagrama, após realização da técnica vocal, foi identificada, na análise qualitativa visual, mudança no deslocamento do diagrama em direção à área de normalidade e houve associação entre o grau geral do desvio vocal da análise perceptivoauditiva e a área do diagrama. Houve melhora nos valores de shimmer, após a técnica vocal. Conclusão O deslocamento do diagrama de desvio fonatório em direção à área de normalidade corroborou os resultados em relação ao grau geral de disfonia avaliado pela análise perceptivoauditiva e os resultados de shimmer, após a técnica vocal empregada. Desse modo, o diagrama de desvio fonatório apresentou bom desempenho no monitoramento da qualidade vocal de indivíduos com Parkinson.

ABSTRACT Purpose: to investigate the practice of Brazilian speech-language-hearing therapists in voice therapy for older adults focused on breathing and verify possible associations between taking specific courses and having knowledge of respiratory parameters, between using incentive spirometers and respiratory devices, and between age and the use of these instruments. Methods: the sample had 156 specialists in voice, contacted via email, who answered a form in Google Forms. Specialists in voice with 3 or more years of experience were included, whereas those who did not fill out the questionnaire completely were excluded. The analysis addressed absolute and relative frequencies and associations with the chi-square test. Significance was set at 5%. Results: most participants took courses on respiratory approach. The use of facilitating sounds, vocal function exercises, and respiratory instruments stood out, with reported vocal improvements. The use of incentive spirometers was associated with respiratory devices, and age was associated with the use of respiratory instruments. Conclusion: speech-language-hearing therapists with expertise in voice provide voice therapy for dysphonic older people focusing on a respiratory approach. Professionals who use incentive spirometers also use respiratory devices. Older therapists are the ones who most use respiratory instruments and taking specific courses was not associated with knowledge on respiratory parameters.

RESUMO Objetivo: investigar a prática de fonoaudiólogos brasileiros em terapia vocal para idosos com ênfase na respiração e verificar possíveis associações entre realização de cursos específicos e conhecimento sobre parâmetros respiratórios, entre o uso de incentivadores e dispositivos respiratórios e entre a idade e o uso destes instrumentos. Métodos: participaram 156 especialistas em voz, contatados via e-mail, que responderam um formulário na plataforma Google Forms. Foram incluídos especialistas em voz, com experiência maior ou igual a três anos e excluídos aqueles que não preencheram o questionário completamente. Analisaram-se frequências absolutas e relativas e a associação pelo teste Qui-quadrado, com significância de 5%. Resultados: a maioria realizou cursos com abordagem respiratória. Destacaram-se: uso de sons facilitadores, exercícios de função vocal e uso de instrumentos respiratórios, com relatos de melhora vocal. Houve associação entre o uso de incentivadores e dispositivos respiratórios e entre idade e o uso de instrumentos respiratórios. Conclusão: fonoaudiólogos experts em voz realizam terapia vocal para idosos disfônicos com ênfase na abordagem respiratória. Profissionais que usam incentivadores respiratórios usam também os dispositivos respiratórios. Aqueles com mais idade são os que mais utilizam instrumentos respiratórios. A realização de cursos específicos não está associada ao conhecimento sobre parâmetros respiratórios.

Objective: To estimate the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection among workers in the Espírito Santo prison system between August and September 2020. Methods: A stratified sample survey through interviews and serological tests for SARS-CoV-2.Results: In the 986 respondents, the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection was 11.9% (CI95% 8,1%;15,7%) among health professionals and 22.1% (CI 95%; 18,8%; 25,3%) among prison officers. Positivity was more frequent in health professionals from the North region (19.7%), and in male prison officers (24.0%). Among the positive ones, fatigue was the most frequent symptom among prison officers (13.4%) and miracle among health professionals (10.8%); and the most prevalent comorbidities among thepositive ones were: asthma or bronchitis (16.2%) for health professionals, and hypertension for prison officers (12.8%). Conclusion: The prevalence of SARS-Cov-2 was higher in prison officers, supporting disease control and prevention actions in this scenario.

Objetivo: Estimar la prevalencia de la infección por SARS-CoV-2 en trabajadores del sistema penitenciario de Espírito Santo entre agosto y septiembre de 2020. Métodos: Encuesta muestral estratificada mediante entrevistas y pruebasserológicas para SARS-CoV-2. Resultados: En los 986 encuestados, la prevalencia de la infección por SARS-CoV-2 fue del 11,9% (IC95% 8,1%;15,7%) entre los profesionales de la salud y del 22,1% (IC95% 18,8%;25,3%) entre los funcionarios deprisiones. La positividad fue más frecuente en los profesionales de la salud de la región Norte (19,7%) y en los funcionarios de prisiones varones (24,0%). Entre los positivos, la fatiga fue el síntoma más frecuente entre los funcionarios de prisiones (13,4%) y el milagro entre los profesionales de la salud (10,8%); y las comorbilidades másprevalentes entre las positivas fueron: asma o bronquitis (16,2%) para los profesionalesde la salud e hipertensión para los funcionarios de prisiones (12,8%). Conclusión: La prevalencia del SARS-Cov-2 fue mayor en los funcionarios de prisiones, apoyando las acciones de control y prevención de enfermedades en este escenario.

Abstract Objective: To provide guidelines on the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination in patients with immune-mediated rheumatic diseases (IMRD) to rheumatologists considering specific scenarios of the daily practice based on the shared-making decision (SMD) process. Methods: A task force was constituted by 24 rheumatologists (panel members), with clinical and research expertise in immunizations and infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients, endorsed by the Brazilian Society of Rheumatology (BSR), to develop guidelines for COVID-19 vaccination in patients with IMRD. A consensus was built through the Delphi method and involved four rounds of anonymous voting, where five options were used to determine the level of agreement (LOA), based on the Likert Scale: (1) strongly disagree; (2) disagree, (3) neither agree nor disagree (neutral); (4) agree; and (5) strongly agree. Nineteen questions were addressed and discussed via teleconference to formulate the answers. In order to identify the relevant data on COVID-19 vaccines, a search with standardized descriptors and synonyms was performed on September 10th, 2021, of the MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, ClinicalTrials.gov, and LILACS to identify studies of interest. We used the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale to assess the quality of nonrandomized studies. Results: All the nineteen questions-answers (Q&A) were approved by the BSR Task Force with more than 80% of panelists voting options 4—agree—and 5—strongly agree—, and a consensus was reached. These Guidelines were focused in SMD on the most appropriate timing for IMRD patients to get vaccinated to reach the adequate covid-19 vaccination response. Conclusion: These guidelines were developed by a BSR Task Force with a high LOA among panelists, based on the literature review of published studies and expert opinion for COVID-19 vaccination in IMRD patients. Noteworthy, in the pandemic period, up to the time of the review and the consensus process for this document, high-quality evidence was scarce. Thus, it is not a substitute for clinical judgment.

O objetivo foi estimar o percentual de pessoas privadas de liberdade no Espírito Santo, Brasil, infectados com o SARS-CoV-2 e apresentar os fatores associados ao resultado positivo. Trata-se de um inquérito sorológico, realizado entre os dias 31 de agosto e 4 de setembro de 2020, nas 34 unidades prisionais do estado. Realizou-se uma entrevista e testes sorológicos para detecção de IgG e IgM no grupo estudado. Foram avaliadas 844 pessoas privadas de liberdade, 265 testaram positivo para COVID-19, indicando uma prevalência de 31,64% (IC9%%: 28,44-34,83). Observou-se associação estatística entre resultado positivo e localização do presídio na região norte (p = 0,001), regime de prisão fechado (p = 0.002) e sexo masculino (p = 0.005). Destaca-se ainda que todos os sintomas foram observados em menor frequência no grupo dos positivos, assim como uma baixa prevalência de comorbidades (0 a 7,1%). Os resultados permitiram conhecer as características dessa população vulnerável a fim de direcionar ações de saúde.

The study aimed to estimate the proportion of prison inmates in the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, with SARS-CoV-2 infection and to present factors associated with positive test result. This was a serological survey conducted from August 31 to September 4, 2020, in the state’s 34 prison units. An interview and serological tests were performed for detection of IgG and IgM in the group. A total of 844 prison inmates were assessed, 265 of whom tested positive for COVID-19, indicating 31.64% prevalence (95%CI: 28.44-34.83). Statistically significant associations were seen between positive test and location of the prison in the north of the state (p = 0.001), closed imprisonment (p = 0.002), and male gender (p = 0.005). All symptoms were observed less frequently in the group that tested positive, and there was a low prevalence of comorbidities (0 to 7.1%). The results revealed the characteristics of this vulnerable population and can help target health measures.

El objetivo fue estimar el porcentaje de personas privadas de libertad en Espírito Santo, Brasil, infectadas con el SARS-CoV-2 y presentar factores asociados al resultado positivo. Se trata de una encuesta serológica, realizada entre los días 31 de agosto y 4 de septiembre de 2020, en las 34 unidades carcelarias del estado. Se realizó una entrevista y tests serológicos para la detección de IgG e IgM en el grupo estudiado. Se evaluaron a 844 personas privadas de libertad, 265 dieron positivo en COVID-19, indicando una prevalencia de 31,64% (IC95%: 28,44-34,83). Se observó una asociación estadística entre resultado positivo y localización del presidio en la región norte (p = 0,001), régimen de prisión cerrado (p = 0,002) y sexo masculino (p = 0,005). Se destaca incluso que todos los síntomas fueron observados en menor frecuencia en el grupo de los positivos, así como una baja prevalencia de comorbilidades (0 a 7,1%). Los resultados permitieron conocer las características de esa población vulnerable, con el fin de dirigir acciones de salud.

Conclusion: The serological prevalence of SARS-Cov-2 infection was higher in prison officers, a finding that can support disease control and prevention actions in this scenario.

ABSTRACT Silvopastoral systems based on tree legumes intercropped with forage grasses can harbor a high diversity of rhizobia, and these bacteria are good indicators of soil quality in several management systems. The objective of this work was to evaluate the morphophysiological, genetic and symbiotic diversity of cowpea [Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp] rhizobia from soils under silvopastoral systems based on shrub-tree legumes. The experiment was performed in a randomized block design with three treatments and three replications, consisting of signalgrass (Urochloa decumbens Stapf.) intercropped with sabia (Mimosa caesalpiniaefolia); signalgrass intercropped with gliricidia (Gliricidia sepium) and single signalgrass. The samples were collected in the legume row (0 meter) and 4 and 8 meters away. Later, cowpea was used as a trap plant to capture the rhizobia. All strains were phenotypically characterized, authenticated, and genetically identified. Phenotypical characterization of the 431 isolates showed high diversity forming 69 groups at 100% similarity, of which 60 were able to nodulate cowpea during the authentication, and 36 presented relative efficiency superior or equal to the recommended bacteria for the crop. Most of the sequenced strains belonged to Bradyrhizobium (67%) and Methylobacterium (9%). Leifsonia (9%), Cohnella (6%), Rhizobium (3%), Burkholderia (3%), and Paenibacillus (3%) were also represented. Soils under silvopastoral systems harbor efficient rhizobia populations in cowpea with a high genetic diversity, which can be recommended for agronomic efficiency assays.
