Abstract African swine fever (ASF) is an important viral disease of swine caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV), which threatens swine production profoundly. To better understand the gene expression changes when pig infected with ASFV, RNA sequencing was performed to characterize differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of six tissues from Kenya domestic pigs and Landrace × Yorkshire (L/Y) pigs infected with ASFV Kenya1033 in vivo. As results, a total of 209, 522, 34, 505, 634 and 138 DEGs (q-value < 0.05 and |Log2foldchange| values >2) were detected in the kidney, liver, mesenteric lymph node, peripheral blood mononuclear cell, submandibular lymph node and spleen, respectively. The expression profiles of DEGs shared in the multiple tissues illustrated variation in regulation function in the different tissues. Functional annotation analysis and interaction of proteins encoded by DEGs revealed that genes including IFIT1, IFITM1, MX1, OASL, ISG15, SAMHD1, IFINA1, S100A12 and S100A8 enriched in the immune and antivirus pathways were significantly changed when the hosts were infected with ASFV. The genes mentioned could play crucial roles in the process of the reaction to non-lethal ASF infection, which may will help to improve the ASF tolerance in the pig population through molecular breeding strategies.

Abstract Introduction: The purpose of this study was to investigate the feasibility and superiority of using the WeChat platform for midterm clinical follow-up of children who underwent transthoracic device closure for ventricular septal defects (VSDs). Methods: Ninety children with VSDs who underwent transthoracic device closure were divided into a WeChat follow-up group (WFU group) and an outpatient follow-up group (OFU group). The patients were followed up via WeChat or at an outpatient clinic three months and one year after discharge. The incidences of adverse events, associated complications, costs and time spent, loss to follow-up rate, medication adherence, and overall satisfaction were recorded. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of adverse events or postoperative complications between the two groups. Also, the loss to follow-up rate was similar between them. Compared with the OFU group, there were significant statistical advantages in the WFU group regarding the total time and cost spent, medication adherence, and satisfaction. Conclusion: The use of the WeChat platform in midterm clinical follow-up of children who underwent transthoracic device closure for VSDs has the advantages of reducing financial and time burdens, facilitating high medication adherence, and leading to high satisfaction.

Abstract Introduction: The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of mivacurium in the application of fast-track anesthesia for transthoracic device closure of ventricular septal defects (VSDs) in children. Methods: The data of 108 children who underwent transthoracic device closure of VSDs from December 2018 to June 2020 were recorded and analyzed. All children were divided into group M (mivacurium group, n=55) and group C (cisatracurium group, n=53) according to the different muscle relaxant drug used. Results: No statistically significant differences in general preoperative data, intraoperative hemodynamic changes, or the incidence of adverse reactions were noted between the two groups (P>0.05). However, the intubation condition rating of children in group M was better than that in group C. The onset time, duration of clinical action and recovery index of the muscle relaxant, postoperative mechanical ventilation duration, and length of intensive care unit stay in group M were significantly lower than those in group C (P<0.05). Conclusion: It is safe and feasible to use mivacurium as a muscle relaxant in children undergoing fast-track cardiac anesthesia during transthoracic device closure of VSDs.

SUMMARY OBJECTIVES To evaluate the epidemiological characteristics of acute pancreatitis (AP) and explore potential relationships between these factors and severity. METHODOLOGY Data-sets of 5,659 patients with AP from health statistics and the Information Center of Jiangsu province, between 2014 and 2016, were analyzed. A self-organizing map (SOM) neural network was used for data clustering. RESULTS Biliary acute pancreatitis (BAP) (86.7%) was the most frequent etiological factor. A total of 804 (14.2%) patients had severe acute pancreatitis (SAP). The mean age of patients was 53.7 + 17.3 (range 12~94y). Most of the AP patients were married (75.4%); 6% of mild /moderately severe AP (MAP/MASP) patients were unmarried, which was less than SAP patients (P=0.016). AP patients with blood type AB in the general population (8.8%) was significantly lower than that of AP cases (13.9%) (P=0.019) and SAP cases(18.7%) (P=0.007). The number of AP patients in southern Jiangsu was much higher than that in northern Jiangsu province, especially in Nanjing (1229, 21.7%). The proportion of acute alcoholic pancreatitis (AAP) in the north of Jiangsu (Xuzhou 18.4%) was much higher than that in southern Jiangsu (Suzhou 2.6%). The whole sample was divided into five classes by SOM neural network. If BAP patients were male, old, divorced, and blood type AB or B, they were more likely to develop SAP. Middle-age, unmarried or divorced male patients with blood type B/AB who suffered from HAP or AAP were also more likely to develop SAP. CONCLUSIONS The number of unmarried patients with MAP/MASP was smaller than that of SAP. Blood types AB and B were more frequent in AP, especially in SAP. The differences between southern Jiangsu and northern Jiangsu, in number of AP patients and the proportion of AAP, were significant. In class I and class IV, the ratio of SAP was much higher than in other classes and the whole sample.

In the present study, we investigated the application of 13 short tandem repeat (STR) loci (D13S317, D7S820, TH01, D16S539, CSFIPO, VWA, D8S1179, TPOX, FGA, D3S1358, D21S11, D18S51 and D5S818) routinely used in forensic analysis, for delineating population relationships among seven human populations representing the two major geographic groups, namely the southern and northern Chinese. The resulting single topology revealed pronounced geographic and population partitioning, consistent with the differences in geographic location, languages and eating habits. These findings suggest that forensic STR loci might be particularly powerful tools in providing the necessary fine resolution for reconstructing recent human evolutionary history.

Nanotubos de carbono de multi-paredes oxidados (ox-MWCNT) foram utilizados como condutores adicionais para preparar uma nova rede de cátodos para bateria de íons de lítio. A morfologia foi analisada pelo microscópio de varredura eletrônico, e partículas ativas de LiMn2O4 foram ligados ao ox-MWCNT com a formação da rede tridimensional de fiação. O transporte de elétrons e a atividade eletroquímica foram melhorados de forma eficaz. Testes galvanostáticos de carga-descarga do cátodo LiMn2O4/ox-MWCNT mostrou que a capacidade de descarga inicial são 119,4, 110,6, 105,5 e 91,4 mAh g-1 à taxa de 0,1, 0,5, 1 e 2 C, respectivamente, os quais são muito superiores aos de LiMn2O4/acetileno (AB), de mesmo conteúdo. A espectroscopia da impedância eletroquímica AC mostrou que a resistência da transferência de carga (Rct) do eletrodo composto reduziu de 34,32 Ω para LiMn2O4/ox-MWCNT, em comparação ao valor de 53,2 Ω para LiMn2O4/AB. De um modo geral, se verificou que uma rede condutora para facilitar a transferência de elétrons e fazer uma boa conexão das partícula ativas com o material da rede desempenham um papel importante para avaliar a capacidade e eficiência do ciclo.

Oxidized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (ox-MWCNT) were used as conducting addition to prepare a novel network composite cathode for lithium ion battery. The morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscope, LiMn2O4 active particles were connected by ox-MWCNT with the formation of three-dimensional networking wiring. Electron transport and electrochemical activity were improved effectively. Galvanostatic charge-discharge tests of LiMn2O4/ox-MWCNT cathode showed that the initial discharge capacities are 119.4, 110.6, 105.5 and 91.4 mAh g-1 at the rate of 0.1, 0.5, 1 and 2 C, respectively, which were much higher than LiMn2O4/acetylene black (AB) at the same content. The electrochemical AC impedance spectroscopy showed that the charge transfer resistance (Rct) of the composite electrode reduced obviously contrasting to 34.32 Ω for LiMn2O4/ox-MWCNT and 53.2 Ω for LiMn2O4/AB. Overall, it is found that a conductive network to facilitate electron transfer and good connection of the active-material particle to the network were playing an important role to rate capability and cycle efficiency.
