Abstract Objective: This study aimed to estimate the performance of single-phase-enhanced computed tomography and ultrasonography examinations in the preoperative evaluation of solid abdominal tumors and their relationship with relevant adjacent structures in children. Methods: This retrospective study included 50 pediatric patients with malignant solid abdominal tumors treated with surgical resection between 2009-2017. Preoperative computed tomography and ultrasonography were compared to operative findings (gold standard) in the diagnosis of invasion or encasement of adjacent structures. Accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative predictive values were evaluated. Results: Renal (20.4%) and neuroblastic (19.4%) tumors were the most common. Complete surgical resection with negative margins was achieved in 44 (88%) patients. The comparison between single-phase-enhanced computed tomography and ultrasonography findings showed the following results: sensitivity = 90.3% vs 86.6%, specificity = 86.8% vs 94.6%, negative predictive value = 95.3% vs 94.4%, positive predictive value = 75.3% vs 86.9%, and accuracy = 87.9% vs 92.2%. The correlation (kappa index) between computed tomography and ultrasonography examinations was 0.72 (p < 0.001). In 14% (7/50) of the patients, the invasion of adjacent structures was diagnosed by ultrasonography but not by computed tomography (1 patient had 2 invaded structures).

RESUMO Objetivos: analisar as variáveis sociodemográficas e clínicas relacionadas com a adesão às atividades de autocuidado em pessoas com diabetes mellitus tipo 2. Métodos: estudo quantitativo, transversal, realizado com 270 pessoas com diabetes, entre dezembro de 2019 e outubro de 2020, em São Luís, Maranhão. Resultados: houve adesão mais favorável ao autocuidado quanto ao uso do medicamento (Md=7,0) e cuidados com os pés (Md= 6,0) e adesão menos desejável quanto à monitorização da glicemia (Md=1,0), prática da atividade física (Md=2,0) e alimentação geral (Md=4,0). As variáveis faixa etária (p=0,007), escolaridade (p=0,015), índice de massa corporal (p=0,035), complicação do diabetes (p=0,009) e acompanhamento nutricional (p=0,000) apresentaram associação com as atividades de autocuidado. Conclusões: a identificação dos fatores relacionados com a adesão ao autocuidado mostrou-se essencial para o fortalecimento da linha de cuidados em doenças crônicas e direcionamento das ações educativas, visando melhorar a qualidade de vida das pessoas com diabetes.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the sociodemographic and clinical variables related to the adherence to self-care activities in people with diabetes mellitus type 2. Methods: quantitative, cross-sectional study, carried out with 270 people with diabetes from December 2019 to October 2020, in São Luís, Maranhão. Results: the adherence to self-care was greater when it comes to medications (Md=7.0) and foot care (Md= 6.0), but lower in regard to blood sugar testing (Md=1.0), exercise (Md=2,0), and diet (general) (Md=4.0). The variables age group (p=0.007), educational level (p=0.015), body mass index (p=0.035), complications with diabetes (p=0.009), and nutritional follow-up (p=0.000) had associations with self-care activities. Conclusions: identifying the factors related to the adherence to self-care was found to be essential to strengthen the line of care in chronic diseases and to direct educational actions, aiming to improve the quality of life of people with diabetes.

Las variables franja etaria (p=0,007), escolaridad (p=0,015), índice de masa corporal (p=0,035), complicación del diabetes (p=0,009) y acompañamiento nutricional (p=0,000) presentaron relación con las actividades de autocuidado. Conclusiones: la identificación de factores relacionados a la adhesión al autocuidado se mostró esencial para el fortalecimiento de la línea de cuidados en enfermedades crónicas y direccionamiento de acciones educativas, visando mejorar la calidad de vida de personas con diabetes.

Resumo Stomiiformes inclui cerca de 455 espécies válidas de peixes principalmente mesopelágicos, distribuídos nas famílias Diplophidae, Gonostomatidae, Phosichthyidae, Sternoptychidae e Stomiidae. Aqui, relatamos a ocorrência de 55 espécies de Stomiiformes coletadas durante as expedições ABRACOS (Acoustics along the BRAzilian COaSt) no nordeste do Brasil, incluindo as ilhas e montes submarinos da Cadeia de Fernando de Noronha. Triplophos hemingi (Diplophidae), Pachystomias microdon e Melanostomias biseriatus (Stomiidae) são registradas pela primeira vez no Atlântico Sul ocidental. Eustomias bibulbosus, Grammatostomias ovatus e Photonectes achirus (Stomiidae) são registradas pela primeira vez no Atlântico Sul. Eustomias minimus (Stomiidae), anteriormente conhecida a partir de quatro espécimes mal preservados, é reportada pela primeira vez no Atlântico. A ocorrência de 18 espécies é confirmada ou registrada pela primeira vez na Zona Econômica Exclusiva brasileira: Triplophos hemingi (Diplophidae), Gonostoma denudatum (Gonostomatidae), Aristostomias grimaldii, Astronesthes gudrunae, Bathophilus nigerrimus, Borostomias elucens, Eustomias bibulbosus, E. braueri, E. minimus, E. schmidti, Grammatostomias ovatus, G. dentatus, Leptostomias gladiator, Melanostomias biseriatus, M. bartonbeani, Pachystomias microdon, Photonectes achirus, e Photostomias goodyeari (Stomiidae). Dados diagnósticos e de distribuição de todas as espécies registradas são fornecidos, com novas informações anatômicas para Melanostomias bartonbeani e Grammatostomias ovatus. Uma lista preliminar das 108 espécies de Stomiiformes confirmadas em águas brasileiras também é apresentada.

Abstract The Stomiiformes includes about 455 species of mostly mesopelagic fishes in the families Diplophidae, Gonostomatidae, Phosichthyidae, Sternoptychidae, and Stomiidae. Here we report 55 species of the order collected during the ABRACOS (Acoustics along the BRAzilian COaSt) expeditions off northeastern Brazil, including islands and seamounts of Fernando de Noronha Ridge. Triplophos hemingi (Diplophidae), Pachystomias microdon and Melanostomias biseriatus (Stomiidae) are recorded for the first time in the western South Atlantic. Eustomias bibulbosus, Grammatostomias ovatus and Photonectes achirus (Stomiidae) are recorded for the first time in the South Atlantic. Eustomias minimus (Stomiidae), previously known from four poorly preserved specimens, is reported for the first time in the Atlantic. Occurrences of 18 species are confirmed or recorded for the first time in the Brazilian Exclusive Economic Zone: Triplophos hemingi (Diplophidae), Gonostoma denudatum (Gonostomatidae), Aristostomias grimaldii, Astronesthes gudrunae, Bathophilus nigerrimus, Borostomias elucens, Eustomias bibulbosus, E. braueri, E. minimus, E. schmidti, Grammatostomias ovatus, G. dentatus, Leptostomias gladiator, Melanostomias biseriatus, M. bartonbeani, Pachystomias microdon, Photonectes achirus, and Photostomias goodyeari (Stomiidae). Diagnostic and distributional data for all species recorded are provided, with new anatomical information presented for Melanostomias bartonbeani and Grammatostomias ovatus. A checklist of the 108 species of Stomiiformes confirmed in Brazilian waters is also presented.

RESUMO A fim de minimizar o impacto ambiental ocasionado pelas misturas asfálticas a quente surgiram as chamadas misturas asfálticas mornas. Este trabalho investigou o uso da cera de carnaúba tipo 1, nos teores de 1, 2 e 3% por peso de ligante asfáltico classificado com penetração 50/70, como aditivo incorporado às misturas asfálticas para a obtenção de misturas mornas. Os resultados apontaram uma redução de até 9 °C na temperatura de mistura e 7 °C na temperatura de compactação com o uso de 2 e 3% de cera. As misturas asfálticas foram dosadas pelo método Superpave e submetidas a ensaios mecânicos: ensaios de resistência à tração, dano por umidade induzida, módulo de resiliência, módulo dinâmico e vida de fadiga. A incorporação de 2% acarretou resultados superiores quanto ao desempenho mecânico das misturas asfálticas, principalmente ao dano por umidade induzida, e uma maior redução das temperaturas de mistura e compactação. Portanto, as misturas cumpriram as exigências mecânicas e se apresentaram viáveis tecnicamente, podendo contribuir para mitigação de danos ambientais como a redução do consumo de energia e as emissões de CO2 em usinas asfálticas.

ABSTRACT In order to minimize the environmental impact caused by hot asphalt mixtures, the so-called warm asphalt mixtures emerged. This work investigated the use of type 1 carnauba wax, at levels of 1, 2, and 3% by weight of asphalt binder classified with penetration 50/70, as an additive incorporated into asphalt mixtures to obtain warm mixtures. The results showed a reduction of up to 9 °C in the mixing temperature and 7 °C in the compaction temperature with the use of 2 and 3% wax. The asphalt mixtures were dosed by the Superpave method and submitted to mechanical tests: tensile strength tests, induced moisture damage, modulus of resilience, dynamic modulus and fatigue life. The incorporation of 2% resulted in superior results in terms of the mechanical performance of the asphalt mixtures, mainly in terms of induced moisture damage, and a more significant reduction in mixing and compaction temperatures. Therefore, the mixtures complied with the mechanical requirements and were technically viable, contributing to the mitigation of environmental damages such as the reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions in asphalt plants.

Resumo No Atlântico Tropical Sudeste, peixes da família Haemulidae desempenham um papel importante tanto ambientalmente, atuando como um elo entre os níveis tróficos mais baixos e mais altos, quanto socioeconomicamente, sendo amplamente capturados pelas frotas artesanais. Este estudo teve como objetivo descrever a ecologia trófica de três espécies de roncadores (Haemulon aurolineatum, H. plumierii e H. squamipinna) considerando aspectos espaciais, temporais e ontogenéticos integrando conteúdo estomacal e análise de isótopos estáveis. A amostragem ocorreu em 26 estações ao longo do Nordeste do Brasil (04°– 09°S), em agosto de 2015 e abril de 2017, utilizando rede de arrasto de fundo. Houve maior intensidade de alimentação à noite, em latitudes abaixo de 08°S e na plataforma continental interna. Valores mais altos de δ¹⁵N foram reportados para H. aurolineatum e H. plumierii coletados perto da linha costeira. A amplitude do nicho isotópico indicou que o H. aurolineatum tem uma dieta mais estreita do que o H. plumierii. Para as três espécies, o nível trófico variou entre três e quatro. Considerando o conteúdo estomacal e o nicho isotópico, a dieta foi semelhante comparando as espécies. Este padrão de ecologia trófica mostra um uso semelhante do habitat, que pode ser essencial para identificar áreas prioritárias para conservação em uma base ecossistêmica, especialmente em zonas ricas de recifes que estão sob várias pressões crescentes, como as do Nordeste do Brasil.

Abstract In the Southeastern Tropical Atlantic, Haemulidae family play an important role both environmentally, acting as a link between lower and higher trophic levels, and socioeconomically, being widely caught by artisanal fleets. This study aimed to describe the trophic ecology of three grunt species (Haemulon aurolineatum, H. plumierii and H. squamipinna) considering spatial, temporal and ontogenetic aspects, integrating stomach content and stable isotopes analysis. Sampling occurred in 26 stations along the Northeast of Brazil (04°– 09°S), in August 2015 and April 2017, using bottom trawling net. There was greater feeding intensity at night, at latitudes below 08°S and in the inner continental shelf. Higher values of δ¹⁵N were reported for H. aurolineatum and H. plumierii collected near coastline. The isotopic niche breadth indicated that H. aurolineatum has a narrower diet thanH. plumierii. For the three species, the trophic level ranged between three and four. Considering stomach content and isotopic niche, diet was similar comparing species. This trophic ecology pattern reveals a likewise use of the habitat, which may be essential for identifying priority areas for conservation on an ecosystem basis, especially in rich reef zones that are subject to several increasing pressures, such as those in Northeast Brazil.

Resumo: Nós otimizamos uma metodologia para detecção do mexilhão-dourado em amostras de DNA ambiental de plâncton e a validamos em amostras de um reservatório no sul do Brasil. Limnoperna fortunei é uma espécie exótica invasora bem-sucedida que promove impactos significativos nos ecossistemas de água doce. Nós ajustamos e validamos a metodologia para detectar L. fortunei em amostras de plâncton em reservatório, através de ensaios com SYBR Green. O nível teórico mínimo de detecção de qPCR observado, com base na análise de curva padrão, foi de 0,0005625 ng.µL-1 (R2 = 0,99) em um ciclo de quantificação de 14,09–29,56. Nós também apresentamos um guia prático a ser utilizado no monitoramento da invasão de L. fortunei em bacias hidrográficas. A metodologia ajustada foi eficiente na detecção de L. fortunei e, portanto, pode ser usada para monitorar ambientes já infestados ou invasões em novos ambientes em larga escala.

Abstract: We optimized a methodology for plankton environmental DNA detection of the invasive golden mussel and validated it in samples from a Southern Brazil reservoir. Limnoperna fortunei is a successful invasive alien species that causes significant impacts on freshwater ecosystems. We adjusted and validated the methodology to detect L. fortunei in plankton samples, with a SYBR Green assay. Based on the standard curve analysis, the observed theoretical minimal qPCR detection level was 0.0005625 ng.µL-1 (R2 = 0.99) at a PCR quantification cycle of 14.09–29.56. We also presented a practical guide to be used in monitoring and detection of L. fortunei. The optimized protocol was efficient in detecting L. fortunei and can be used to monitor already infested environments or invasions in new environments.

RESUMO O pavimento asfáltico convencional, devido a sua coloração escura, absorve uma grande quantidade de energia que é transformada em calor, promovendo um enorme desconforto térmico para as pessoas que vivem nesse ambiente. Esse estudo trata da adição de pigmentos vermelhos na mistura asfáltica para obtenção de misturas asfálticas coloridas. A incorporação de óxidos metálicos em misturas asfálticas surge como uma forma de diminuir o albedo e consequentemente minimizar os efeitos da Ilha de Calor Urbana, além disso é esperado que não ocorra diminuição dos parâmetros mecânicos a fim de comprometer sua estrutura. Para realização desse estudo o ligante asfáltico utilizado na pesquisa foi submetido a ensaios de penetração, ponto de amolecimento e viscosidade rotacional e os agregados caracterizados com os ensaios de massa específica, granulometria e abrasão Los Angeles. A dosagem Marshall foi utilizada para produção dos corpos de prova a serem ensaiados para quantificação dos ensaios mecânicos: Resistência à Tração, Módulo de Resiliência e Estabilidade Marshall. As misturas com adição de 5% de óxido metálico vermelho e amarelo apresentaram resultados de resistência inferiores à mistura de referência fabricada sem a adição do corante. No entanto, as misturas asfálticas com corante atendem aos requisitos mínimos exigidos por norma para todos os ensaios realizados, podendo ser utilizada em pavimentos coloridos com a finalidade de diminuir o efeito de Ilha de Calor Urbana.

ABSTRACT The conventional asphalt pavement, due to its dark coloring, absorbs a large amount of energy that is transformed into heat, promoting enormous thermal discomfort for people who live in that environment. This study deals with the addition of red pigments to the asphalt mixture to obtain colored asphalt mixtures. The addition of metallic oxides in asphalt mixtures appears as a way to reduce albedo and consequently minimize the effects of the Urban Heat Island, in addition it is expected that there will be no decrease in mechanical parameters in order to compromise its structure. To carry out this study, the asphalt binder used in the research was subjected to penetration tests, softening point and rotational viscosity and the aggregates characterized with the specific mass, particle size and abrasion tests in Los Angeles. Marshall dosage was used to produce the specimens to be tested to quantify the mechanical tests: Tensile Strength, Resilience Module and Marshall Stability. Mixtures with the addition of 5% red and yellow metal oxide showed lower resistance results than the reference mixture manufactured without the addition of the dye. However, asphalt mixtures with dye meet the minimum requirements required by the standard for all tests performed, and can be used on colored floors in order to reduce the effect of Urban Heat Island.

Resumo Os peixes-pescadores de profundidade da subordem Ceratioidei (Lophiiformes) são representados por cerca de 170 espécies válidas que apresentam algumas das adaptações anatômicas e reprodutivas mais extraordinárias entre os vertebrados, incluindo extremo dimorfismo sexual e parasitismo masculino. No presente estudo reportamos sobre a diversidade e distribuição de espécies raras de Ceratioidei coletadas durante as expedições ABRACOS (Acoustics along the BRAzilian COaSt) realizadas ao largo do nordeste do Brasil e na Cadeia de Fernando de Noronha (Atol das Rocas, Arquipélago de Fernando de Noronha e montes submarinos associados). Chaenophryne ramifera, Oneirodes anisacanthus, O. carlsbergi, Gigantactis watermani e espécimes não identificados de Caulophryne, Dolopichthys e Rhynchactis são registrados pela primeira vez na Zona Econômica Exclusiva brasileira. Ceratias uranoscopus, Melanocetus johnsonii e Chaenophryne draco tiveram suas distribuições estendidas em águas brasileiras. Caulophryne, O. anisacanthus e G. watermani também são registrados pela primeira vez no Atlântico Sul ocidental. O espécime de G. watermani reportado aqui representa o terceiro espécime conhecido da espécie, e variações anatômicas de sua esca em relação à do holótipo são descritas. Com base nos espécimes examinados e na revisão de registros na literatura, 20 espécies de Ceratioidei, além de espécies não identificadas de Caulophryne, Dolopichthys, and Rhynchactis, são confirmadas na Zona Econômica Exclusiva brasileira.

Abstract The deep-sea anglerfishes of the suborder Ceratioidei (Lophiiformes) are represented by about 170 valid species with some of the most extraordinary morphological and reproductive adaptations among vertebrates, including extreme sexual dimorphism and male parasitism. Here we report on the diversity and distribution of rare ceratioids collected during the ABRACOS (Acoustics along the BRAzilian COaSt) expeditions off northeastern Brazil and the Fernando de Noronha Ridge (Rocas Atoll, Fernando de Noronha Archipelago, and associated seamounts). Chaenophryne ramifera, Oneirodes anisacanthus, O. carlsbergi, Gigantactis watermani, and unidentified specimens of Caulophryne, Dolopichthys, and Rhynchactis are recorded for the first time in the Brazilian Exclusive Economic Zone. Ceratias uranoscopus, Melanocetus johnsonii, and Chaenophryne draco have their distributions extended in Brazilian waters. Caulophryne, O. anisacanthus, and G. watermani are also recorded for the first time in the western South Atlantic. The specimen of G. watermani reported here represents the third known specimen of the species, and variations of its escal anatomy in relation to the holotype are described. Based on specimens examined and a review of records in the literature, 20 species of the Ceratioidei, in addition to unidentified species of Caulophryne, Dolopichthys, and Rhynchactis, are confirmed in the Brazilian Exclusive Economic Zone.

Abstract Objective: To evaluate the antimicrobial action of the CTZ paste in three different proportions by diffusion in agar with the microorganisms: Enterococcus faecalis,Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans. Material and Methods: Three different proportions of antibiotics were tested: GROUP A - CTZ paste in the ratio of 33.33% chloramphenicol + 33.33% tetracycline + 33.33% zinc oxide, mixed with 2 drops of eugenol (1:1:1 ratio); GROUP B - CTZ paste in the proportion of 25% chloramphenicol + 25% tetracycline + 50% zinc oxide, mixed with 2 drops of eugenol (1: 1: 2 ratio); GROUP C - CTZ paste with 13% chloramphenicol + 13% tetracycline + 74% Zinc Oxide, mixed with 2 drops of eugenol (1:1:6 ratio); PC GROUP - Positive Control (0.12% Chlorhexidine); and NC GROUP - Negative Control (0.9% Saline solution). Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics (means and standard deviation). The one-way ANOVA and Tukey’s test were used, with a significance level of 5% Results: No statistical differences for Enterococcus faecalis between groups A, B, and C (p = 0.1986) were found. There were statistical differences for Escherichia coli between groups B and C (p = 0.029), and for Candida albicans between groups A and C (p = 0.006). Groups A, B, and C had significant differences with both Positive and Negative Controls for all the microorganisms Conclusion: The three different ratios of CTZ paste showed antimicrobial efficacy against Enterococcus faecalis,Escherichia coli, and Candida albicans microorganisms.

ABSTRACT The present study aimed to investigate the reproductive cycle and size at first maturity of Penaeus schmitti through a macro and microscopic approach. Between August 2011 and July 2012, 1169 specimens were collected by an artisanal fishing vessel operating a double trawl off the coast of Pernambuco, northeast Brazil. The total proportion of males (42%) was significantly lower than females (58%), corresponding to the sex ratio of 1:1.38. The total body length at first ovarian maturation (TL50) in females was estimated at 14.2 cm. The ovarian development was divided into four distinct stages based on histological characteristics and visual observations. This is the first reported occurrence of vitellogenic oocytes in the spent stage of P. schmitti, indicating a rapid ovarian maturation after spawning. Furthermore, the frequency of maturation stages, diameter of oocytes and gonadosomatic index were distributed homogeneously throughout the study period, reinforce a continuous reproductive cycle for P. schmitti population in northeastern Brazil.

RESUMO: O coró branco (Haemulopsis corvinaeformis Steindachner, 1868) é a segunda espécie mais importante capturada como fauna acompanhante na pesca de camarão em Pernambuco, nordeste do Brasil. No entanto, a dinâmica populacional é pouco conhecida na região. O objetivo do estudo foi descrever aspectos da estrutura populacional e biologia reprodutiva da espécie, fornecendo informações importantes para o desenvolvimento de práticas de manejo sustentáveis. Espécimes foram coletados mensalmente de agosto de 2011 a julho de 2012, e a cada três meses de outubro de 2012 a junho de 2014. Um total de 1.140 espécimes foi coletado; 340 machos (29,8%), 391 fêmeas (34,3%), e 409 imaturos cujo sexo não pode ser identificado (35,9%). O comprimento total variou entre 7 e 25 cm. De maneira geral, o comprimento total das fêmeas [12,85 ± 2,49 cm (média ± DP)] e machos [12,72 ± 2,46 cm (média ± DP)] foram similares (p > 0.05). A proporção de machos e fêmeas foi similar, com exceção de março. As relações entre comprimento total e peso total foram estatisticamente significantes (p< 0.05), mostrando um crescimento isométrico. O índice gonadossomático (GSI) associado com a distribuição dos estágios maturacionais sugerem que as fêmeas reproduzem durante todo o ano, com um pico durante outubro-novembro. O tamanho de primeira maturação foi estimado em 11.88 cm para fêmeas e 11 cm para machos.

ABSTRACT: Roughneck Grunt (Haemulopsis corvinaeformis Steindachner, 1868) is the second most important species caught as bycatch of the shrimp fishery in Pernambuco, Northeastern Brazil. However, the population dynamic of this species is poorly known in the region. The aim of this study was to describe aspects of the population structure and reproductive biology of the H. corvinaeformis, providing important information for the development of sustainable management practices. Specimens were collected monthly from August 2011 to July 2012 and quarterly from October 2012 to June 2014. A total of 1,140 individuals was collected; 340 males (29.8%), 391 females (34.3%), and 409 were immature and could not be sexed (35.9%). Total length ranged from 7 to 25 cm. In general, total length of females [12.85 ± 2.49 cm (mean± SD)] and males [12.72 ± 2.46 cm (mean ± SD)] were similar (p > 0.05). The proportion of males and females was similar along the year, except in March. The relationship between total length and total weight was statistically significant (p< 0.05), showing an isometric growth. The (GSI) coupled with the distribution of maturational stages suggests that females reproduce all year around, with a peak during October-November. The length at first maturity (L50) was estimated at 11.88 cm for females and 11 cm for males.

ABSTRACT We investigated, through a temporal comparison, the extraction of non-timber forest resources by quantitatively analyzing the Conservation Priority Index (CPI). The study focused on the Fulni-ô Indigenous Territory, in the municipality of Águas Belas, PE (Northeast Brazil), which is characterized by caatinga vegetation (seasonal dry forest). Information on the availability of the exploited resources and the reported use of the species were obtained from vegetation sampling and semi-structured interviews, respectively. Our results demonstrated a reduction in species richness overtime, which may be due to continued resource extraction in the area, and that some species with low densities were even more affected. The species reported as being at high risk in the current study apparently did not differ from their status in the previous study, which supports the idea that these species are most evident in this situation more for their high potential of use than for their high densities. When we associate these events together with the disappearance of some rare species, we can conclude that the CPI was not efficient in predicting changes, and that the combination of variables used with the biological variables of the species needs to be adjusted.

RESUMO Objetivo: Analisar a influência da duração da Posição Canguru nas interações iniciais da díade mãe-filho pré-termo. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo observacional, prospectivo exploratório, que analisou, por meio de filmagens, a interação mãe-filho, durante a amamentação, previamente à alta hospitalar, utilizando o “Protocolo de Interação Mãe-Bebê 0 a 6 meses”. Foi correlacionado o tempo da Posição Canguru durante toda a internação hospitalar e a interação mãe-filho pré-termo. Todos os recém-nascidos elegíveis (idade gestacional entre 28 e 32 semanas e peso ao nascimento entre 1000 e 1800 g) foram incluídos no período de 11 de junho a 31 de setembro de 2014. Resultados: Quanto maior o tempo em Posição Canguru, mais os recém-nascidos realizaram tentativas de contato físico com as mães durante a amamentação (r=0,37; p=0,03); e quanto maior o tempo na Posição Canguru, menos as mães conversaram com os filhos (r=-0,47; p=0,006). Conclusões: Os dados apontam que o maior tempo de Posição Canguru favorece as trocas iniciais de contato entre o filho pré-termo e a mãe, o que sugere maior estado de alerta e melhor disponibilidade do recém-nascido para interações com a mãe durante a amamentação.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the influence of the Kangaroo Position duration in the initial interactions between mothers and preterm infants. Methods: This is an exploratory prospective observational study that analyzed the mother-infant interaction during breastfeeding, before hospital discharge. All eligible newborns, with a gestational age of 28-32 weeks and a birth weight of 1,000-1,800 g from June 11 to September 31, 2014 were included. The films of the interaction were evaluated by the “Mother-Baby Interaction Protocol 0-6 months” tool. The duration of the Kangaroo Position during all the hospitalization period was correlated with the interaction between mother and preterm infant. Results: The longer the dyad spent time in the Kangaroo Position, the more the newborns made physical contact attempts with their mothers during breastfeeding (r=0.37; p=0.03); and the longer the time in the Kangaroo Position, the less the mothers talked to their children (r=-0.47; p=0.006). Conclusions: Longer periods in the Kangaroo Position stimulates the initial exchanges of contact between preterm infant with his mother, which suggests a higher alert status of the newborn and a better availability for interactions with the mother during breastfeeding.

Investigou-se a associação entre atividade física durante o segundo trimestre gestacional e os desfechos perinatais adversos: baixo peso ao nascer (BPN), nascimento pré-termo (NPT) e restrição de crescimento intrauterino (RCIU). Foi utilizada amostra da coorte BRISA, São Luís, Maranhão, Brasil, que incluiu mulheres com gravidez única, idade gestacional de 22 a 25 semanas confirmada por ultrassonografia obstétrica realizada com < 20 semanas, reentrevistadas nas primeiras 24 horas após o parto (n = 1.380). O nível de atividade física foi medido pelo Questionário Internacional de Atividade Física (IPAQ), versão curta, e categorizado em alto, moderado e baixo. Gráfico acíclico direcionado (DAG) foi utilizado para identificar ajuste mínimo para o controle de confundimento. Nível alto de atividade física não foi associado ao BPN (RR = 0.94; IC95%: 0,54-1,63), NPT (RR = 0,86; IC95%: 0,48-1,54) ou RCIU (RR = 0,80; IC95%: 0,55-1,15). Os resultados fortalecem a hipótese de que a prática de atividade física na gestação não parece resultar em desfechos adversos ao nascimento.

This study focused on the association between physical activity in the second trimester of pregnancy and adverse perinatal outcomes: low birth weight (LBW), preterm birth (PTB), and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). The study used a sample from the BRISA cohort, São Luís, Maranhão State, Brazil, which included women with singleton pregnancy, gestational age from 22 to 25 weeks confirmed by obstetric ultrasound performed at < 20 weeks, and re-interviewed in the first 24 hours postpartum (n = 1,380). Level of physical activity was measured by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), short version, categorized as high, moderate, and low. A directed acyclic graph (DAG) was used to identify minimum adjustment to control confounding. High physical activity was not associated with LBW (RR = 0.94; 95%CI: 0.54-1.63), PTB (RR = 0.86; 95%CI: 0.48-1.54), or IUGR (RR = 0.80; 95%CI: 0.55-1.15). The results support the hypothesis that physical activity during pregnancy does not result in adverse perinatal outcomes.

Se investigó la asociación entre actividad física durante el segundo trimestre gestacional y los desenlaces perinatales adversos: bajo peso al nacer (BPN), nacimiento pretérmino (NPT) y restricción de crecimiento intrauterino (RCIU). Se utilizó una muestra de la cohorte BRISA, São Luís, Maranhão, Brasil, que incluyó mujeres con un embarazo único, edad gestacional de 22 a 25 semanas, confirmada por ultrasonografía obstétrica realizada con < 20 semanas, reentrevistadas en las primeras 24 horas tras el parto (n = 1.380). El nivel de actividad física fue medido por el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física (IPAQ), versión corta, y categorizado en alto, moderado y bajo. El gráfo acíclico dirigido (DAG) se utilizó para identificar un ajuste mínimo para el control de confusores. Un nivel alto de actividad física no se asoció al BPN (RR = 0,94; IC95%: 0,54-1,63), NPT (RR = 0,86; IC95%: 0,48-1,54) o RCIU (RR = 0,80; IC95%: 0,55-1,15).
